It was supposed to be a normal day for once, even having enough time on both sides for a bit of time in person with his favorite champion. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? Some more unpleasant words about their least favorite league admins, maybe even the time for some casual battle the 'mons had been itching for.
( he won't mention how needed this kind of distraction was, on that specific kind of day. )
And yet.
Tumblr media
"—!"
That was him, wasn't it? Even when he only caught a glimpse of blond and what he knows to be a sharp glare he's seen one too many times, most of it overshadowed by the dragon type at his side— he had no doubt about it, and that damn Garchomp of his lingers for a moment too long, knows he's there and it's as if it can hear his heartbeat, staring right at him as if it was debating whether or not to act on that impulsive anger he had all but drilled into his team as a second instinct and always ready to attack, pounce and tear and—
Even if he had any words to scrape out of a dry throat, he can feel his voice cracking, hands clammy and suddenly it's like all the air was sucked right out of his lungs. Volkner isn't really listening, is he? As if everything around him was muffled, plunged right underwater and drowning there.
This isn't good—
( the only thing keeping him really away right now was dawn's presence right at his side, wasn't it? he just can't ever really get away on his own— )
There's a careful bump against his leg, pulling him back just a bit, still distraught, still on the edge, but just enough to at least listen, even when it takes him far too much effort, eyes darting between Dawn and Lux for a moment, then just a bit more frantic as he looks around the area— there's no trace of that Garchomp anymore. It's not enough to get a frazzled mind to settle down and to feel like he can breathe again, but it's something, isn't it?
It's at least enough to let him focus just a little more on Dawn's word, some attempt to follow suit and keep track of his breaths, as deep as he could manage through the dizziness still trying to settle in. When words keep failing him, the only answer he can muster up is a sharp nod, maybe just a bit too quick when he's trying to fight off that lightheaded feeling, but— Volkner just can't really bring himself to care when he's just trying to keep himself focused on the moment.
He just needs to get out of there.

Interview given to The Severus Snape and Hermione Granger Shipping Fan Group.  (sharing here Admin approved)
https://www.facebook.com/groups/199718373383293/
Hello Oracle Obscured and welcome to Behind the Quill, thank-you for letting us get to know you a little better.
Many readers will know you already and if they don’t I encourage them to look your works up including Teaching Miss Granger and How I learned to love teachers’ meetings
Okay, let’s jump right in.
What's the story behind your pen name?
Hmmm ... that’s kind of a weird answer for me. I wanted to choose a name that didn’t immediately indicate whether I was male or female. I’d noticed a certain freedom afforded to authors of indistinguishable gender. With no societal construct about the “nature” of the creator, the story stood on its own, without prejudice or conditioned expectations.
I brainstormed about six or seven names and then picked the one that appealed to me most. I’ve always felt drawn to the idea of oracles (those who see beyond). And I definitely felt obscured in that department. (Hell, at the time, my whole life felt obscured.)
Which Harry Potter character do you identify with the most?
I don’t know if I do. I guess if I had to pick, I’d say Hermione, as I have a tendency to be an obsessive perfectionist when it comes to work/studying. I like to be organized and plan things out. And I can be quite demanding and harsh with myself when I feel like I’m not measuring up to my own insane ideals.
But I took that openpsychometrics.org statistical quiz a while back, where you answer like a bazillion comparison questions (I did the longer version), and my highest HP match was Remus Lupin (83%). Yeah, I can see that.
Luna is my favorite character, but I don’t know if I identify with her more than anyone else.
Do you have a favourite genre to read? (not in fic, just in general)
It used to be horror/suspense, but ... I don’t know ... I’m just not as into it anymore. Maybe it’s because the real world is horrifying enough without adding fictional monsters to the mix.
Now I mostly read classics.
Do you have a favourite "classic" novel?
To Kill a Mockingbird.
At what age did you start writing?
Just writing stories in general? Maybe second grade. It wasn’t a passion or anything, just something I was pretty good at. I only really did it at school, though, not so much at home. I read A LOT growing up, so I naturally imagined that I might be an author one day. I tried to write a book when I was about 13 or 14, but less than one chapter in, I decided it was too hard. (I was NOT a Hermione growing up. Planning and perseverance were not my style.)
I took a massive break from thinking after high school (the smorgasbord of medications I was on didn’t like me using my brain too much, and my plans for college went out the window when my depression become unmanageable). I didn’t really start writing again until I was about twenty-seven. That was when I found fanfiction. I consider that when I really started writing.
How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I found fanfiction while looking for erotica. Needless to say I discovered the motherlode, and I was hooked. Over the years, I’d written bits and pieces of my own sexy scenarios (which is what you do when you grow up without the internet and you have to depend on your imagination for all your kink requirements), but I’d never really thought about taking someone else’s “story world” and using it as my setting. For a little over a year I read/devoured all the HP fanfiction I could, and then I realized I could take all the fantasies in my head and play them out with my favorite characters.
The first story I wrote was a funny/smutty Ginny/Draco thing, and it was HORRIBLE. The story and the sex were fine, but the writing was a nightmare. I submitted it to The Restricted Section, which was the only site I knew at the time, and they vetted their stories, so I had to get approved. They wrote me back saying it needed work and I should get a beta. So I went on the forum and found one (which was rather brave of me now that I think back). The person who helped me must’ve had the patience of a saint, because he/she(?) never said a damn thing about all the mistakes and shitty-ness. Suggestions and corrections were made, and I changed some of the pronouns to names so it wouldn’t sound so repetitive. The next time I submitted it, they accepted, and I got a decent response for a first-time writer (like three or four nice reviews). No one seemed to hate it, and the reviewers said the sex was hot, so I tried again, hoping to do better.
That’s when I wrote the first chapter of Teaching Miss Granger. It started out as just a oneshot. And it got a much better response. I wanted to write more, but I became extremely depressed and lethargic, and I didn’t really do anything for the next six or seven years. (I mean nothing. Unless you consider watching every episode of Law & Order CI and SVU ten times over to be an accomplishment.)
I came back to it years later, intending to add a few chapters to TMG where they have sex, but ... it just sort of evolved into the monster that it is. I worked on it pretty much every day for about a year. I’d never stuck with ANYTHING that long in my entire life.
What's the best theme you've ever come across in a fic? Is it a theme represented in your own works?
I would say love or “the power of love” is probably my favorite theme. But that includes synonyms for love as well. (Like wholeness, which is the theme of Quartet.)
What fandoms are you involved in other than Harry Potter?
None. I like other fandoms, but I don’t write for them, and I don’t usually read their fanfiction.
If you could make one change to canon, what would it be? Do you have a favourite piece of fanon?
I’ve never really thought about changing cannon. I mean, I change it to suit my fictional purposes (like Snape lives etc.), but I wouldn’t want to change canon for real. The deaths in HP serve a purpose, and while I find many of those deaths heartbreaking, that’s kind of the point. Hatred is bleak and destructive, and good people don’t survive wars simply because they’re good; bad things happen to good people all the time. As for changing something about the individual characters, I can’t get behind that either. The reasons people do things are multifaceted and complex and they’re colored by a lifetime of experiences I will never know or understand, so I don’t feel I can really judge. I can’t say I understand all the choices I’ve made in my own life, and there’ve been plenty of times where I had no choice at all. I can’t hold others to more rigorous standards than I myself can meet. We all have our shortcomings. (And that’s cool. Without them, there would be no growth or diversity.)
Do I have a favorite piece of fanon? Hmmm ... probably Head Boy and Head girl rooming together or having private rooms.
Oh! And uniforms.
Do you listen to music when you write or do you prefer quiet?
I used to listen to really quiet classical music while wearing headphones. Every little sound in the house distracts me, and I have to block it out. But lately I’ve just been running this old box fan that drowns out the noise.
What are your favourite fanfictions of all time?
Crap, I don’t know if I can choose. (Plus I feel like I’ve forgotten a lot of what I’ve read.)
My friend Desert Sea is my fav Hermione/Severus writer. Out of her stories, the ones I like best are In Their Hands and At the Headmaster’s Discretion.
After a brief search of my accounts, I’ll go with:
Do Not Go Gentle by senlinyu
Another Dream by dragoon811
The Last Twenty-Four Hours of Severus Snape by CryingCinderella
Pretty much everything by Aurette
Pet Project by Caeria
Post Tenebras, Lux by Loten
All the SS/HG stuff from snapeslittleblackbuttons
There’s a Teddy Radiator story that I like a lot, but I can’t remember the name of it. (Or what it’s about.) (Yes, very helpful, I know.)
And in a category all it’s own is Farmer Granger and the Most Glorious Cock by MyWitch. (Seriously, I read this like once a month and it makes me laugh every time.)
I read a lot of Drarry too. Drarry stories I love:
Everything by bixgrl1, but especially Balance Imperfect and In Evidence of Magical Theory
Everything by lq_traintracks (even the non-Drarry stuff). The writing is amazing.
I love all the advent stories by Saras_girl.
I like all the Drarry stories I’ve read by Faithwood.
I really like RZZMG’s writing. (No particular story or pairing.)
And I just rediscovered a story I found in 2007 (the first m/m fic I ever read). It’s a Snarry, which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it was excellent. Snape: the Home Fries Nazi by pir8fancier
Are you a plotter or a pantser? How does that affect your writing process?
I enjoy a bit of both. My oneshots are all pantsed. TMG was totally pantsed. But Getting Personal and Quartet were both plotted and planned. For GP I did sort of a chapter by chapter synopsis before starting my rough draft, and for Q I went into even more detail—EVERYTHING was planned out ahead of time. The only thing that changed during the first draft was I ended up combining some of the chapters.
How does plotting affect my writing process compared to pantsing? It streamlines it. In a oneshot there’s not much to streamline; the basic story (or general idea) is all you really need. There’s not enough story to get muddled. But when I’m writing something longer, with multiple chapters, I find it’s better to know where the story is going. How deeply I go into that planning can vary. Sometimes there’s just a basic outline of the major plot points and then I fly by the seat of my pants from there. Sometimes I write out a very rough synopsis (sort of like a short and loose first draft) and then start writing as if it’s my second draft. Things inevitably get changed once I really start writing, so the planning isn’t set in stone by any means, but when I plan, the story goes in the general direction I intend without veering too far off course and there aren’t any plot holes. After I wrote TMG (with no planning) I saw that there was A LOT I could have cut or combined without affecting anything important. I learned a little more with each story I wrote, and when I got to Q, there was a lot of complicated ideas that I wanted to incorporate, and there were so many characters (and character arcs) going on that I had to plan extensively to make sure everything fit together. If I hadn’t worked it out ahead of time, it would’ve been like throwing a heap of puzzle pieces on the table but not being given a reference picture to know what it was I was working toward.
What is your writing genre of choice?
I have no idea. Plotty sex? Erotic dramady? Some of it is just straight up PWP, but I usually like to have something meaningful in there too.
Which of your stories are you most proud of? Why?
Usually the answer is whatever I’ve most recently written, as it’s the most likely to represent my current “best.” In terms of writing, I’ll go with A Brush with Magic, but Quartet is probably my best storytelling. A lot went into that (symbolism, planning, obsessive re-writes) and it holds a good deal of personal meaning to me. So, I guess I’ll go with Q due to the time and effort involved.
Did it unfold as you imagined it or did you find the unexpected cropped up as you wrote? What did you learn from writing it?
The unexpected always crops up (even with all my planning), and it’s the unexpected that makes the magic.
While I had many insights into my own nature while writing Quartet, in the end I think it taught me to trust/listen to myself more.
Later, however, it brought me a very different message. While writing it, I felt a lot of tension and anxiety; I wanted to “do it right” and present my story in the best light. But after some time away, I realized I’d been so worried because I felt as if that story represented me, as if it defined me. And the pressure of being judged worthy or unworthy had been eating me alive.
But I don’t feel that way anymore. Now it’s like I wrote all my stories in another lifetime. While they all might be a snapshot of a fraction of my mind, nothing I create ever says a damn thing about who or what I truly am. Since letting go of that, I’ve found a sense of freedom around writing. I still like to express things as clearly and beautifully as I can, but it’s more a celebration of words than a search for acceptance.
How personal is the story to you, and do you think that made it harder or easier to write?
Quartet was extremely personal to me when I wrote it, and in a lot of ways I think that made it easier to write. When I have to go strictly by imagination, I feel as if I’m missing some depth of understanding (like I’m getting the surface-level stuff, but missing the nuance). When I write from experience, it has an entirely different quality. Richer. More intimate. It’s work to write what I don’t know, but it’s easy to write the truth.
Posting, however, is an entirely different story. Other people don’t always want the truth, and if you feel like your story is an extension of you, it can hurt to have any part of it rejected.
What books or authors have influenced you? How do you think that shows in your writing?
I think everything I’ve ever read or seen has influenced me. In terms of writing, I guess I’d say I’m inspired by beauty in all its forms. When I first started reading fanfiction, I just searched for the kinks I liked; it was all about the sex (with bonus points for having a decent plot). Then one day I read an extremely well-written PWP (I don’t remember what), and the way the author described the sex was so unlike anything I had ever read, it totally blew my mind. It was art. Exquisite art. And before that, I didn’t know sex could be art. That author didn’t just recount the characters’ actions, they painted a word masterpiece—they turned porn into poetry. THAT was what I wanted in my life. And I didn’t know it until that moment.
Books/authors that stick with me:
The Harry Potter series (obviously).
Shel Silverstein (Love the poetry, but The Giving Tree is one of my favorite books of all time.)
Dr. Seuss (Always.)
Judy Blume (I still have my copy of Are You There God it’s Me Margaret from when I was, like, 10. Tiger Eyes is my favorite of hers.)
R.L. Stine (I got hooked prior to the creation of the Goosebumps series, but I had EVERY Fear Street Book he wrote when I was in middle school.)
Weekend by Christopher Pike (This was the first YA thriller I ever read. *Sigh* memories. I still have my original copy, and I still read it every once in a while. The characters and plot are great.)
Stephen King (Carrie is my fav.)
Anne Rice (I’ve read all the vampire and witch books, but The Witching Hour is the only one I’ve read multiple times. Blackwood Farm is my next favorite.)
To Kill a Mockingbird
Charles Dickens (David Copperfield is my fav.)
Jane Austen (I can’t pick between Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility.)
Thomas Harris (Brilliant writing, and Hannibal might be one of the most intriguing anti-heros ever.)
Stieg Larsson (Another brilliant writer with a brilliant character.)
The Giver by Lois Lowry (I haven’t read the rest of the trilogy. And I haven’t seen the movie. I refuse to besmirch my childhood love with Hollywood’s interpretation.)
Bridge to Terabithia (This book devastated me as a child.)
Gillian Flynn (Sharp Objects is my fav.)
Liane Moriarty (I like all of her books, especially Big Little Lies. The way she plays with the timeline is masterful.)
Frank Herbert’s Dune. (I grew up on this. It’s my dad’s all-time favorite book. And, yes, we’re looking forward to the new movie.)
Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid’s Tale is horrifyingly wonderful. And Atwood herself is fascinating. Watch her Masterclass if you get the chance.)
Steinbeck’s East of Eden (This might be my second favorite book.)
The Lucifer Effect by Phillip Zimbardo (This isn’t fiction, but it was the first book that really affected the way I see the world.)
Eisler’s The Chalice and the Blade (Also not fiction. If you’re interested in the divine feminine and a more egalitarian society, this is the book for you.)
Loving What Is by Byron Katie (The only self-help book that’s ever actually helped me.)
Daphne Du Maurier (I love Rebecca, but she also has a story called “The Blue Lenses” that isn’t really intended to be scary, but it freaked me the fuck out.)
The Secret History by Donna Tartt (Gorgeous writing, and the plot left me seriously disturbed.)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey (Gah! I love this. The writing and the story and the characters and EVERYTHING!)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (I Bradbury’s writing style, but the plot of F451 is pure horror for any book hoarder lover.)
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding (This might be my third favorite book ever. No, wait, I might like it better than East of Eden. I can’t choose!)
The Diary of Anne Frank (How in the hell could anyone read this and not be affected by it?)
Do people in your everyday life know you write fanfiction?
No. This is my own private world, and I like it that way.
How true for you is the notion of "writing for yourself"?
Very. I write what I want to read. There are certain adjustments I make when I write for other people as opposed to what I do when writing strictly for myself, but nothing major. I refuse to write things I have no interest in, and I don’t write to make people happy. I write to please myself. (But it’s nice when what pleases me pleases others. It’s wonderful to share that connection.)
How important is it for you to interact with your audience? How do you engage with them? Just at the point of publishing? Through social media?
I like hearing from my readers. I don’t have a lot of time to interact, but I like talking to my audience and listening to their insights. I try to reply to all the comments I get on AO3 (it’s just too hard on FFN). And when I have free time (which isn’t often) I check my FB groups to see what’s going on. To me, the interaction kind of completes the creative cycle; it helps me set the story free and allow it to be. It really belongs to the reader once I’ve published, and it’s nice to see the ripples creativity creates.
What is the best advice you've received about writing?
Unless it’s absolutely necessary, stop using the word “was.” Completely changed my writing.
What do you do when you hit writer's block?
It doesn’t really happen that much, as I usually know where I’m going with my story, but there can be glitches between scenes or times when I can’t find the words for something (like ending a chapter). When that happens, I usually just leave it and come back later—I can’t force it if it won’t come.
If I really need to get it done for some reason, I read what I have over and over, adding a little bit more each time, trying out words that “sound right” and building what I need bit by bit. What I come up with isn’t always right or what I want, but at least I have something to work with. Sometimes seeing what’s wrong makes what you want more obvious.
Has anything in real life trickled down into your writing?
Yeah, just about everything Sex, depression, anxiety, personal growth, likes/dislikes, insights, interests, philosophy, all my little neuroses. Every once in a while I’ll even include some dialogue from real life.
Do you have any stories in the works? Can you give us a teaser?
I’m juggling about five long stories right now (plus a couple oneshots). And I haven’t worked on any of them in ages. I don’t know what’s going on with me; I’m just not in the mood. I don’t want to say what they are, as I might never finish them. (Two are Drarry and three are Sevmione. One is a compilation of oneshots. Four of them are completely planned out and just need to be written. The unplanned Drarry was always just meant to be for myself and I doubt I’ll ever release it.)
Any words of encouragement to other writers?
Yes. Enjoy the whole writing/creative process as much as possible. Try not to beat yourself up, and don’t try to force yourself to be better. You will naturally get better the more you write. Change is inevitable; allow it to happen. Read books about writing, and read good writers. Notice what brings you the most pleasure when you read and tap into that same pleasure when you write. Play with words and ideas just for fun. Watch and see what appears. There is no perfect.
If you’re writing about sex (because I get asked about that a lot), write what turns YOU on. Don’t try to be sexy. Don’t try to write what you think other people want to hear. Don’t worry about what other people think (at least in the first draft). If they don’t like it they can go read something else. But if YOU like it, it will shine through in your writing, and that will have a bigger impact on your reader than any activity you describe. Also, the physicality is only a fraction of the sexual experience. Don’t turn your sex scenes into a play-by-play. You’re not really writing about what the characters are doing so much as how what they’re doing affects them. It’s a personal experience, and the more personal you make it (the more honest and vulnerable you are as a writer) the more satisfying the story will be for your reader. Wise words! Thank-you so much for speaking with us today Oracle Obscured.

Good Morning Loves !!
I hope everyone has been enjoying their holiday season, however it’s looked this year. With the New Year coming soon, we would love to ring it in by accepting some more new members! Lux Aurora is a modern marauder’s era rpg that focuses on long term character arcs, plot drops that involve all of our characters, and of course writing connections that are complex and dynamic. We are an AU roleplay as our characterization of the characters we know and love have broken the canon mold and our plot holds many AU aspects to it as well. When it comes to the group itself, our members are the best around and are quick to welcome and plot with newcomers as they join! From an admin stand point, we work hard to create a safe and inclusive space for our writers that values respect.
As of right now, we have a lot of open characters that are incredibly wanted by our members! We would love to see any of the McKinnon siblings, the Lestrange brothers, the Black sisters, Amycus Carrow, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Lucius Malfoy, Peter Pettigrew, and Victoria Delacour are all high up on our wanted list. However, all of our open characters currently have taken connections and are apart of the plot. Speaking of, we’ll be dropping a new plotting event with the New Year, and we would love to have you join us for it!
There’s an admin online to help answer any questions you might have, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are so looking forward to having you join us here at Lux Aurora!

For the OC asks: 1, 3, 5, 10??
1. What was the first OC you ever created?
I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but my first OC was a cat named Echoheart (which is why I get confused sometimes whenever someone ever just calls me “Echoheart”). She starred in a fanfic I wrote a loooong time ago (Maybe...6 years ago? I think I still have the original files on my laptop, and ironically it’s the only fanfic I’ve ever finished with multiple chapters), but I put her down to rest after I left the fandom cuz...well the fandom was kinda a mess on QuizUp in 2016-2017. She’s long gone now, but I kept the name out of both spite and respect for my original kiddo because without her I wouldn’t be writing/drawing/anything really.
()()()
3.Which OC is your fav out of all?
Last time I answered this I said Allister, but right now it’s tied between Allister and Amara. They’re both the biggest idiots out of all my OCs, but Amara hits close to home due to what I’m gonna put him through, and I just generally like Allister as a whole. So both. Both of them are my favorites.
()()()
5. Which OC has the most interesting backstory?
Mmm...most of my OCs have pretty tame backstories, but I guess I like Wishy’s the most. It’s not exactly “interesting”, but it feels more naturally grounded than the others who are more brief and straight-to-the-point:
She starts off simple enough with decent intentions to make sure her Union makes it through on top, though she plans to do it all solo, due to fearing the worst of the worst. For a long time, Wishy’s able to pull through and satisfy Master Invi, though her Chirithy notes how lonely she often looks.
However, on one chance encounter, she see’s another wielder who shared the same goal in the same Union, but after constantly stealing the enemy from each other, the two despised the other for months. Eventually, they became friends, due to a terrible slip-up with a Raid Boss, a few broken bones, and Invi checking in on them. A party was born a few months later, but its fate was being the unlucky few that would later become corrupted.
Their goal remained the same: collecting as much as Lux as possible. Seemed easy enough, though change started to root in and plant seeds of doubt in their minds. More people gradually joined, though her first friend eventually stepped down from their admin position and handed it over to someone else (before they’d leave completely, disappearing without a trace), while Wishy remained the leader for years to come.
The party’s original goal slowly became more corrupted, where the rules she laid out before, became altered to an unrecognizable degree. Everything becomes a mess afterward, and to sum this up before this becomes a mile long:
TL;DR: Wishy, cuz she starts off like every other kid, forming a party with a friend (who was once her rival), only for her morals to gradually drop as the War inches closer, but recognize too late that...”Fuck, this isn’t what I wanted!”.
()()()
10. Are there any ocs that you never introduced yet? And who are those ocs???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Oops, they’re all my background keykids who only appear in the first worldine since none of them are Dandelions.) These three are more of minor characters to fill in as support than anything, so I never really felt like they needed to be introduced until later, but here they are!
I don’t really have much to do with them yet, but Perry and Doran are traveling traders who help out the Moogle as a living. They don’t belong to any Union, as their heart is set on the desire of freedom, so they technically live on the outskirts of town. Occasionally, they’ll talk with the other kids and offer them rare items for munny (mostly because the Moogle only asks for Jewels for some reason which is useless outside Daybreak Town). None of the Foretellers were exactly thrilled to find their kids running around with knives the next day.
Cain’s just the clerk at the shop during eating hours. He’s a grumpy mess and doesn’t like his part-time job at all, but he’s close friends with Amara and Wishy. He used to have a brother, Abel, but...some things occurred and nobody’s heard from Abel in months. Is he dead? Missing? Nobody knows except Cain.

League of Legends Roleplay Casting Call
Hello everyone! Are you looking for a chance to be a part of a friendly group of League Roleplayers?
Than do I have the proposition for you!
My name is Hero and I am looking for people who are interested in joining a Discord Roleplay group! The server is a multi-skin, star guardian centric, high school AU plot based in Valoran High. For a more detailed plot description so far please look below!
Please try to choose from Base skins, any of the space skins (Odyssey, Dark star, etc), Academy, or Star Guardian skins. No OCs this time around folks! We also do not accept duplicates of already claimed characters.
This RP does go through multiple arcs, by the way! We are currently in Arc two!
We have several rules that I ask you be considerate of: The first and foremost is be active. We ask if you plan to be inactive for upwards of three weeks that you talk to one of the admins.  We can’t help you if the plot goes to fast because you are inactive. We ask that you also that you be respectful to your fellow members and the admins. For the most part this is a plot intensive server, and there can be heavy themes involved, as well as nsfw in the correct channels, so please if you want to apply please bare that in mind!
We also ask that you keep in mind that any canon/fanon ships are not guaranteed. If you apply to be a Xayah, don’t expect to be shipped with the Rakan.
Also please note that if you apply to be Lux, we ask you be comfortable picking up where Lux left off before (we’ll catch you up beforehand, of course).
Lastly please check out the characters we have already, and then read the summary of the first arc to see if you’re interested! Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from all of you! Right now we have: Star guardian Lulu, Jinx Jhin and Kayn
Plot summary below the cut
Within the halls of Valoran High Boarding School, Jinx had started a group chat that she left relatively public so anyone could join. In the early morning hours of showering, Lux stepped on Kuro and Shiro after her shower. She then ran  to the group chat to express to Jinx her displeasure. Later on Viktor and Braum joined the chat followed by Jhin way after the other two. Outside of the chat Jinx recommended that Viktor talk to Lux about joining the Star Guardians since Viktor seemed to show interest. When confronting and talking to Lux, she soon expressed her displeasure and sent Viktor off with a threat of blasting him.
Viktor and Lux got into a weird text fight while Jinx comforted and essentially gave information to Viktor that further infuriated Lux upon her learning of it.
After Viktor and Jinx talked for a while, it was clear that Viktor may not become a star guardian, but Jinx held up hope.  She believed that anyone should be welcome, and it caused a few arguments with Lux. Lux and Jinx talk, and it comes to light that Lux has a crush on Jinx.  Lux kisses Jinx, and Jinx runs off, unsure how to feel.  With a little help from Vi, Jinx comes to realize she likes Lux in turn, and they kiss making their relationship official. Meanwhile Jhin is served hedgehog in his lunch, and is thoroughly disgusted.  The lunch lady turns up dead shortly after the incident, and Jhin begins to have dreams of what Jinx assumes is the first star. She encourages him to talk to Lux, but nothing much other than a better understanding comes of the situation. Later on, Jinx troubled by Jhin's situation, and by a sense of something coming, she takes Lulu to dinner where she discovers that Lulu is a star guardian, and is invited onto the team.
Orianna has now joined the chatroom and Jinx, Braum, and Orianna all bought weed off of Vi.
Shaco has joined the chatroom, Jinx grows increasingly troubled by the situation at hand. She now is under the believe that Viktor, Jhin, and Orianna are all going to become members of the dark star, and she doES NOT like that.
She ran off to get some answers, returning only because she was injured while searching the cosmos for what the Dark Stars were. Meanwhile, Jhin was troubled by his nightmares, and had to take a break, leaving the school for a short while and letting Leona sub for the class.  He is now back.
Jinx still is very troubled by the situation she was given, and thus talks to Jhin about her situation.  Jhin convinces her to stay in her club Lux leaves without warning, making Jinx the defacto leader, despite her questioning more and more her involvement with the star guardians.
Yasuo has also returned from some space adventures, and Kayn has been caught stealing from Jhin and many others, and put in the Punishment Room. Caitlyn has hosted a bakesale.
At the bakesale, a new star guardian made his appearance, Malzahar. Though he may not be all he seems, Jinx seems to like him as a person, and wants to trust him. His spider familiar,,,not so much. After the bake sale, things have gotten incredibly serious. Kayn has been corrupted by Rhaast, a Dark star, and Jhin has slowly seeping corruption and an eye void. Out of his eye void crawled out a baby khazix who is growing very fast. Jinx blames herself for kayn's corruption, having left him alone despite promising him she could help him. Jinx leaves to clear her head, though she has a very bad infection that she let go untreated. The infection was caused by a void creature fight. At this same time, Kayn wanders off as well. Jhin goes to find Kayn, and Zoe goes to find Jinx (after Zoe blew dark stars cover). Jhin and Kayn get into a fight, Zoe finds jinx burning up and completely unconcious. Thresh carries jinx to the infirmary, and Jhin carries Kayn. Kayn escapes with some injuries.  Jinx, however, ends up losing her arm as she let the infection spread too much. The baby Khazix is growing very fast, and can speak. Thresh scares the shit out of jinx like a jerk, Talon kills Zoe for blowing the cover of dark star, everyone seems to hate Zoe, which drives her to make a pact with the dark star. Lulu comea back from a family runion with Pix's family. Everything is metaphorically on fire and she has to do damage control, trying to keep jhin and kayn from corrupting completely.
Lulu catches up with all of the chaos and befriends Kayn and Rhaast. Further meetings with Rhaast cement their relationship and they confess their love. Jinx gets her robotic arm and gets to know Rakan better in the hospital. Jhin's corruption spreads further and Loki goes missing, but just as he is found he attacks Jhin, resulting in Jhin having to kill him. In his grief his corrupted eye sucks in an entire home improvement store. Thresh comes to comfort him. His eye later births a voidling, which grows up to be Kha'zix, as well as another creature similar to an alligator, which Jhin gifted the unique name Loki 2, became his new pet. In a fit of jealousy and wrath fueled by the corruption of the Dark Star, kayn goes on a rampage, heralding the start of the apocalypse as the Dark purple sky swirls above the school, which is now on lockdown. Lulu consumates her love with Rhaast before getting kidnapped by Kayn. Rhaast and Kayn battle, Lulu intervenes and puts him into a sedated state. Jinx and Rakan meanwhile confess their love under the corrupted moonlight. Zoe and Yasuo talk on his ship for a while. From there, things only seem to get as the corrupted sky grows. Rhaast and Thresh disappear leaving behind cryptic messages and a world of heartbreak. Jinx is completely losing it, refusing to let Rakan out of her sight the best that she can.
The corruption of the world and the sky reach a breaking point after rhaast and Thresh disappear, and ultimately on the school campus there are only a handful of people left. This leaves Lulu, Jinx, Rakan, Jhin, and Kha'zix to  fight the threat as the gather in the courtyard. First its a wave of voidlings, but Thresh soon reappears, having grown huge, the influence of the Dark Star clouding his judgement and forcing him to fight his friends. Kayn and Rhaast then reappear and enter the fight, and Kayn takes his form and bends Rhaast back into his scythe form, convincing Lulu that Rhaast was killed in the process.  In her grief, Lulu loses her control on her magic. Jinx turns her attention from the void creatures to Kayn, seeing Lulu broken hearted fueling her unstable anger and motivating her to destroy the man she once called her friend. Kayn fights Thresh, in this fight Rakan uses his charm distract Kayn and stirs awake a very much not dead Rhaast. This brings Lulu back to reality and the fight continues, although really it was Kayn Vs Thresh at this point, and Kayn comes out the victor. He wounds Thresh in what could only be assumed to be a mortal way, and Thresh disappears to an unknown destination. After Thresh disappears, Rhaast retracts his pact with Kayn, and is dropped as a weapon. Kayn disappears as well. Lulu gathers up Rhaast, who decides he needs to hide for a while in his weapon form. As the fight is over, and the sky clears up, there's a mix of emotions all round the group of...."Star guardians". Joy, fear, sorrow. But for now, it seems that the world was safe.

i just want heejun to manhandle me, i think he's the type to want to 'prove' himself as capable or manly since he's the youngest and seen as a baby a lot - i dont care if its a playfight on the couch where i get pinned down and tickled or the remote snatched, or him getting a little rough in the bedroom i think id just like to be handled and pulled around and flipped over without a moments notice - he'd get a kick out of it surely
fuck yeah! I am one of the people who loves to baby Heejun, but I am also here for dom!Heejun tbf. I am just a huge brat in a way that I would keep babying him untill he snaps hahaha
“How many times to I have to tell you. I. Am. Not. A. Baby” Heejun said whilst pinning you down onto the couch, forehead against yours and staring deep into your eyes. You were sure that you looked like a deer caught in headlights right now, not expecting this to happen when you were babying Heejun and joking around calling him a baby, with him occasionally yelling back that he in fact, wasn’t a baby but a, as he put it,  ‘grown-ass man’. Now that you were underneath him, you wanted to see how far you could actually push him before he snapped. “Oh really? You will still be a baby in my eyes, no matter what you do Heejunnie” you smirked at him, getting a kick out of seeing him clench his jaw and tightening his grip on your wrists, now making you barely able to move underneath him. You squirmed when he placed a hickey right underneath your jawline, making him smirk when he noticed your reaction to it.
“If I can make you squirm with just a hickey, I’m curious what you will do when I ruin you tonight, ‘cause I’m gonna prove to you that I am not a baby, honey”

dear members / interested writers,
unfortunately, as you may have noticed, theavenuehq has come to a close. that’s not to say that we won’t open again sometime in the future, but for now we have been struggling to run this group, for many reasons.
before the holidays, we were getting many people applying for the group and then never becoming active, or interacting on the dash once or twice before disappearing. others were joining, and doing the bare minimum to assure they weren’t kicked for low activity. others would join, and leave without so much as a word to the other group members, let alone be active. of course this is something all admins have to deal with when running the group, but we found there was a large increase in these types of people in this group, versus groups we’d run in the past.
on top of this, our active members of course had less time to be active over the holiday season, which led to other members leaving, thinking that the dip was permanent.
on top of this, someone we have banned from our groups had been consistently trying to join our group under different accounts and different aliases, despite ignoring them. our inbox was getting flooded with them asking who our most wanted females were despite having answered them several times. it was getting exhausting, and we needed to take a break from it after having such bad experiences with this person in the past.
we thank you for the time you spent with us. we enjoyed the characters we had here, and their writers too. hopefully we’ll be able to come back to this group some time in the future, as we truly love the little world we’ve created here.
we wish you all the best.
lots of love, lux and nox.

Interview taken from The Severus Snape and Hermione Granger Shipping Fan Group.  (Admin approved)
 https://www.facebook.com/groups/199718373383293/
Hello Loten and welcome to Behind the Quill, thank-you for letting us get to know you a little better.
Many of our members will know your works with Post Tenebras, Lux and Chasing the Sun being considered classics for the SS/HG pairing.
Thanks for the invitation, hello everyone.
What's the story behind your pen name?
There's a werewolf novel, Bareback by Kit Whitfield. In one scene a character is looking at the moon and mentions that in Old English poetry they would use the term loten to describe a night when the moon was bright enough to see by. I haven't been able to verify it since the author may well have invented it, but I love nights like that and I liked the word, and the rest is history.
Which Harry Potter character do you identify with the most?
I get asked this a lot, actually. There is no one character, I don't think - I identify to some extent with most of the characters that feature more frequently in my fics, or I wouldn't be able to write them (the exception is Lucius, as far as I can tell he's truly fictional and not derived from anything in me). I probably have more in common with Hermione than the others, at least my version of her, but it's hard to say for sure.
Do you have a favourite genre to read? (not in fic, just in general)
Fantasy all the way. My mother nagged me into reading The Hobbit when I was around seven or eight, and that was it. I do read other genres but a good 85 per cent of my reading material almost certainly has magic or dragons somewhere in it.
Do you have a favourite "classic" novel?
I have a few. I like all of Austen's works, my favourite is probably Sense & Sensibility. I've just finished re-reading Jane Eyre. I like Elizabeth Gaskell's novels as well.
At what age did you start writing?
My mother is one of those parents who hoards everything her offspring do, and among the boxes of paper is a short story I wrote and illustrated when I was maybe five, about a flying shoe (imaginatively titled The Magic Clog). And when I was six I had a poem published in an anthology of children's verse (I don't remember how that came about; I think my school was asked to get involved, had a competition and picked out a few that ended up in the book) - my contribution was a piece of free verse about a dripping tap. So it's something I've always done, though I started taking it more seriously as a teenager developing roleplay characters.
How did you get into writing fanfiction?
My best friend when I was around thirteen was into fanfiction, she wrote Stargate SG-1 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fiction at the time. I don't know how she got into it herself but she introduced me to reading it, though it was a year or two before I found the courage to try writing any. My early stuff was... not very good, and I will never admit to being the author of any of it now!
What's the best theme you've ever come across in a fic? Is it a theme represented in your own works?
Oh, that's a hard one. I like seeing consequences being explored - often authors will give a character the backstory or motivation they need them to have for the sake of the plot, but if it's not one of the main characters they won't pay it any more attention after that. When it's done well, I do like stories exploring the realism of just how a character would be affected by what happens to them. It adds a new dimension to their personality, and the psychology behind it is interesting in its own right. We're a product of our experiences, and so are fictional people. I try to show it in my writing as well - why a character does something is as important as the thing itself.
What fandoms are you involved in other than Harry Potter?
I read fics from all sorts of fandoms, but Discworld was where I first started writing (badly). It's a pretty small fandom despite the legions of fans worldwide, so I got to know a few writers there and learned more about what I was doing. Took a break for a while due to personal reasons, and when I returned under this name I started off in the even smaller Tamora Pierce fandom, trying my wings before entering the madness of Harry Potter. These days the Potterverse is still my first love along with the other two, but others include the Wheel of Time, Good Omens and too many smaller ones to list. I don't write for them or anything so active, though.
If you could make one change to canon, what would it be? Do you have a favourite piece of fanon?
Snape surviving, and the HG/SS ship, naturally! Do you listen to music when you write or do you prefer quiet?
Music, or Youtube videos (I watch a lot of Let's Plays), or just having the TV on. I can't concentrate in complete silence, my mind wanders to other things. I also talk to myself if there's no other source of noise and I'm trying to break the habit.
What are your favourite fanfictions of all time?
This would have been far easier to answer a few years ago, but I read less and less fanfiction as time goes by and I don't read Potter fics at all any more. My personal headcanons have developed more and more over the years, and nobody's headcanon is the same as anyone else's, so I end up disagreeing with fics these days because it's not how I would have done it and it makes it difficult to enjoy them.
The best fic I ever read was also the one that introduced me to HG/SS, but at some point, along the way, it was deleted and the author removed their account, and I've never managed to remember the title or pen name to look for it elsewhere. I don't remember the plot either after so long, but the characterisation was absolutely superb and the ship just made so much sense that I never looked back.
Are you a plotter or a pantser? How does that affect your writing process?
A plotter, definitely. I always have a first draft mostly complete before I start uploading anything. Initially, it was just because I realised I was writing longer stories and didn't want to risk hitting writer's block or real-life delays and having to go on hiatus in the middle of uploading a story, but later I realised I preferred it. I don't have to worry about writing myself into a corner or contradicting myself, I can take the time to make sure things are coming across the way I want them to. And it means I never have to force myself to write 'the next chapter' to a deadline - if I don't want to work on whatever comes next, I can jump ahead and write something later in the plot that I do want to work on. I also find it a lot easier to plan a story around a timeline to get the overall pacing right.
What is your writing genre of choice?
I don't really know what you'd call it. Slice of life, I suppose? I like stories about characters rather than about plots.
Which of your stories are you most proud of? Why?
Most of them, in their own way. My Tamora Pierce series, even though they're nothing groundbreaking and even though I know I could write them far better now, because they were the first things I wrote that I felt truly pleased with and because the overwhelmingly positive responses gave me the confidence to keep going, to try for something completely original rather than a retelling, and to venture into a far bigger and much more terrifying fandom.
Post Tenebras Lux, because it's (almost) exactly the story I wanted to tell and (almost) exactly the way I wanted to tell it. Chasing the Sun because it's the best written of anything I've done and I can see how much I've improved over the years, although I prefer the content of PTL. And I'm incredibly proud of the thousands upon thousands of positive and constructive reviews both of them gathered along the way,
I never expected to attract much notice at all and it's been a tremendous help to me both as a confidence boost and helping me see more about how others view storylines and characters in ways that I'd miss. I think overall it's PTL I'm most proud of, with CTS a close second.
Did it unfold as you imagined it or did you find the unexpected cropped up as you wrote? What did you learn from writing it?
Talking about CTS and PTL both, they're more or less the way I imagined them. Sometimes I'd get a review showing me a perspective I'd never considered, and one or two of them ended up having quite a long-running impact. Sometimes I'd reach a point, particularly in CTS, and realise that what I had planned for that part of the story wasn't going to work and I'd end up writing something completely different.
During the writing of both of them I mostly learned about how my brain works and how to organise myself to write at my best - I think I've learned more after they were done; I re-read both of them every year or so and see things I could have done differently and things that work and things I no longer agree with.
How personal is the story to you, and do you think that made it harder or easier to write?
Back to PTL for this one, since most of CTS' plot isn't completely mine. I never planned it to be particularly personal to me; at the time I just wanted to write about my favourite character and give him a better ending than canon did, and enjoy myself telling the story. As I went along and started touching on different subjects it became more personal - I've experienced bullying and depression, amongst other things, though fortunately not on the same scale as the characters I write about. I think it made it both harder and easier; stirring up old memories wasn't particularly pleasant, but it meant less time researching and rewriting those particular parts because it felt more real, to begin with.
What books or authors have influenced you? How do you think that shows in your writing?
That's another hard one. Subconsciously I think almost everything you read influences you at least a little. I tend to divide books into three categories - ones I don't enjoy and don't finish (which is rare but does happen), ones that were good but ultimately forgettable, and ones that deserve to be re-read, and I've probably learned something from almost all of the latter kind.
If I had to name one author it would be Terry Pratchett. His writing spanned such a vast spectrum it blew my mind wide open from the first time I picked up one of his books (I think I was ten or so) and he's still the author I come back to time and time again and find something to enjoy and appreciate no matter what my mood is. He's known for humour but there's so much more in everything he wrote. As for how outside influences show in my writing, I really don't know but I can guarantee they're there.
Do people in your everyday life know you write fanfiction?
Not really. Some of my school friends did, but over the years I've lost touch with all of them. Of my family and current friends, the ones that would understand fanfiction don't share the fandoms I write for, and the others just wouldn't understand the concept. I'm not ashamed of it, I just don't know how to explain it to someone who has no overlap with this world. Some of my online friends know, but half of them I met via my fanfics in the first place, so I'm not sure that counts!
How true for you is the notion of "writing for yourself"?
Where fanfiction is concerned, there's no point doing anything else. If you're trying to make a career out of writing you do have to write for your audience at least to some extent, but one of the joys of something not for profit like fanfiction is that you can tell the stories you want to tell and don't need to impress anyone.
The whole reason PTL exists is that I couldn't find a fic that told the story I wanted to read, so I wrote it myself. CTS primarily exists so I could fix a lot of the parts of canon I had the greatest problems with. The fact that other people agree is amazing and I still get warm fuzzies from every review from someone sharing the same opinion, but that wasn't the point.
Starting out in small fandoms meant I had no expectations for reviews so I never felt the need to try and court them, and every piece of feedback was a pleasant surprise rather than a main motivation. It's also a lot easier and more enjoyable to write for yourself; my other fics are mostly small one-shots based on prompts from other people, and many of them were a real struggle to write.
How important is it for you to interact with your audience? How do you engage with them? Just at the point of publishing? Through social media?
I'd say it's pretty important. I try to answer every signed review where possible, and it's always surprised me when people tell me they weren't expecting it - it seems to be something most fic authors don't do. It never occurred to me not to at least thank someone for taking the time to leave a review, and for those who leave longer reviews with questions or observations or (constructive) criticism I like the chance to explain some of my reasons for a particular decision or to talk about something in the fic or the wider fandom or writing in general.
That said, I don't have much contact with readers outside review responses and FFN messages. I don't really use social media (hence the format of this interview). Nothing against it, but introversion and a lack of much free time (and, it must be said, a little laziness) mean it's not for me at this point in time. I do have a blog but it's not very active.
What would you most like your readers to take away with them when they've finished your stories?
Honestly? I'm happy if someone finishes and thinks 'that was a good read, I enjoyed it'. Anything else is icing on the cake. Sometimes I get lovely messages from people who've been going through rough times and they tell me something in my stories resonated with them and helped them feel a bit better, and that's an incredible feeling. Others tell me they've been inspired to work on their own writing or to read more about a subject I mentioned. Some just want to let me know they've checked out a song or book I referenced or quoted and they liked it. All those are great, but as long as someone likes the story and enjoys reading it, that's enough.
What is the best advice you've received about writing?
The most specifically useful was probably "when you're writing dialogue, read it out loud". Time after time I've done that and realised a piece of a conversation was very awkward and strange and been able to rewrite it. In a more general sense, the best thing I've seen was "don't force it". If you're not in the mood to write something, don't try to, because it'll be far lower quality than if you wait until you're excited to write it down.
What do you do when you hit writer's block?
That ties into the previous question. Usually, I leave that piece of writing alone and either work on something else or move away from writing entirely and give myself a break for a few days to clear my head. Sooner or later something will shake loose and I'll see my way past whatever the problem was. (This usually happens either in the shower or while driving, when I can't do anything about it, because the universe just hates people sometimes!)
Has anything in real life trickled down into your writing?
Oh, absolutely, though I can't give many specific examples. As I mentioned before, my experiences with bullying and depression definitely added an extra dimension to the way I write about those issues, but that's the only obvious thing. I haven't consciously included any specific incidents from my life anywhere in my writing, but I'm sure there are a lot of small things I haven't even noticed. And there are definitely some details that are me, such as certain characters' music tastes (or a preference for black forest gateau...)
Do you have any stories in the works? Can you give us a teaser?
I get asked this one a lot! Yes, I do plan on at least two more long Potter fics, if possible. I'm fairly sure at least one of them is going to happen. I have some concrete writing and a lot of notes. But it's difficult to avoid treading ground I've already covered in existing fics, I don't want to produce anything that feels too similar. I also wrote both PTL and CTS while I was unemployed and living with my parents, and now I'm living on my own and working, so I have much much less free time. No teaser, I'm afraid :)
Any words of encouragement to other writers?
The only way to get better at writing is to write, so write. Don't worry about not being good. That can come later. You can always rewrite anything. My early fics under other names range from thoroughly amateur to absolute trash that I've disowned, and there's plenty of original writing that will never, ever see the light of day.
If you write something down and hate it, leave it for a while and then go back and look at it and figure out why you hate it. Try not to be afraid. It takes real courage to let other people see your writing for the first time, and nothing hurts like your first negative review, but the world won't end. Criticism comes in three forms - misunderstandings that you can address; genuine criticisms that you can learn from; and, very rarely, flames or trolling that you can ignore. Most people will have a valid point, and most of them will genuinely be trying to help you.
And READ. Read everything you can get your hands on. Fics, books, blog posts, newspaper articles. If you don't like something, try and work out why. If you do like something, try and work out why. Exercise your imagination and the rest will follow.
Thank you so much for spending some time with us Loten, it was a genuine pleasure getting to spend some time getting to know you better.
