Even though he and Hadley weren't part of the picnic basket auction, Kendall was still having a great time with their friends. Or, at least, he had been until Hadie decided to bid on a basket that was obviously Margo's. Even though he insisted that he didn't want the date, he just wanted to stop the other guy bidding on Margo who was allegedly a 'jerk' from winning, the damage had been done and Kendall felt a deep pang of sympathy for Addy as she and Hadie started fighting. Whatever carefully crafted and fun afternoon she had planned for them was certainly going to be soured by this whole thing... or it wouldn’t happen at all, he found out, as Addison came to him and Hadley to give them a good chunk of money along with a plea to do what it took to make sure that Hadie didn’t win her basket. 

Normally Kendall would jump at the opportunity to encourage communication between the couple while they were at odds, but Addy’s basket was coming up and she obviously still needed space, so the best thing Kendall could do as a friend was help. He was grateful that Hadley understood the importance of friendship and that she cared about making sure their friends were okay; it made him feel less guilty about bidding on Addy, and using his own money to start the bidding at that. She was in a hard enough spot with the way Hadie had been behaving, she didn’t need to lose money today on top of that, and aside from that, her basket was incredible and had more than earned it. 

It was a tense back and forth but especially with Addison’s money, it was no time at all before Hadie was out of the running and the auctioneer was announcing, “Sold! Addison Pendragon’s basket goes to Kendall Andersen!”

PARTY TIME 🥂 HADDISON

Hadie still couldn't believe that he was here, at a royal ball, and by the side of a princess to boot! Not just any princess, though. He was here with Addy Pendragon, who was both kind enough to invite him and beyond interesting enough to make it worth his while. Admittedly, he felt a little bit like a fish out of water. His suit didn't fit as well as other boys's, since it was the only one he had and he'd gotten it when he entered Auradon, before his big growth spurt, and he was for sure the only person there with a knit tie. Still, Hadie was too happy to really care. It was beautiful inside the castle and he had only one person to thank for being able to experience it. Probably the first thing he noticed when he entered though, was the snack table. Hadie was sure he gasped outloud but he couldn't help himself. There was so much food! And it all looked so good. He remembered joking that the royals would have gold-plated food, but everything there looked so expensive and shiny and tasty! "Addy, look!" Like an overly excited puppy, he grabbed her hand and pulled her over to get a closer look. Hadie was a naturally physically affectionate person anyway, but Addy had also asked him to pretend to be her date, and dates held hands, right? So it was okay! "Look at everything they have! Oh my god, it's like a year's supply of photos on a food porn blog," he gasped. His eyes caught sight of flutes of alcohol with bubbles and gold flakes in them and he could hardly believe it. "Is this what all royal parties are like?" he blurted, looking at his "date" with all the excitement in the world. "How do you even decide what to eat first? I want to try it all but there's so much!"

Keanu: Addison, I come bearing exciting news. Or, at least, it's exciting for me. If it isn't for you, pretend for my sake. After a grueling summer of wrestling with the first eleven steps of my program for eliminating "feels" for a certain individual that needn't be named, I've arrived at the last step.

Keanu: Step 12, also known as "find a new person to project these feelings of infatuation onto", has proven difficult so far. Thus I had the brilliant idea that you could choose for me. After all, it doesn't need to be a viable option for "dating", and I'd honestly rather it not be someone I could ever develop feelings for. The goal here is to find an individual to help me transition from having feelings for [redacted] to feelings not being exclusively tied to the idea of her and then having no feelings at all. Top five hottest people at ASU and why?

There’s so many pretty people in Auradon, I don’t know. Obviously @avery-thatch is so beautiful, and I’m not just saying that because she’s one of my best friends. @carterlabouff is another really good friend who also happens to be way too pretty, and his twin @lemonlabouff is also gorgeous, or um, tres magnifique as she’d say. I’ve always thought @addisonpendragon was one of the prettiest and most interesting people I know but I know she’s taken -- and @hadieathanasius is also cute, for the record. They might be the cutest couple, although @hadleyforte and @kendallandersen are also both pretty and nice and cool. @gensid is another insanely good looking friend of mine, and um, @arabellad-arcy is so incredible, really. @willowclarion and @zacbocuse are another two people that are unfairly pretty. And I lost count but I think that’s at least five.

Do you think you might end up a prince one day?

I like @addisonpendragon a lot, I like what we’re doing. and if we keep doing it and get married someday, I guess technically that would make me a prince, so it’s not like it’s impossible or anything! I never really imagined being a prince when I was growing up and I’m not sure I’d be any good at it but that’s something I’ll deal with if it ever becomes an actual problem.

How do you feel about what Hadie did at the basket auction?

I am so glad that you asked! I’ve been saying since @addisonpendragon​ and @hadieathanasius​ got together that he wasn’t good enough for her but given how infatuated she was with him to start, I promised to give him “the benefit of the doubt” and dial back on the negativity where he was concerned. I was told that’s what friends do. However, following the events of the auction, I’m following a new best friend rule, and that is that a true best friend holds the crimes of a friend’s significant other against them longer and harder than anybody else. I know Addison and Hadie have made amends, and it feels like people are keen to let him off the hook, but I’m not. I don’t forgive, I never forget, and I think he showed his true colors that day. He exposed himself as someone who’s capable of disregarding Addison’s feelings to a cruel extent, and even if it was “only an accident”, that is still a problem. I’m not sure what he’d have to do to redeem himself because, in my opinion, that behavior is indicative of a deeper issue that’ll only continue to hurt my friend as their relationship goes on, but since it is continuing, I can only hope that I’m wrong about him. I can also let him know that the “benefit of the doubt” from me has officially expired and threaten to make his life miserable if he causes Addison any pain like that ever again. That is all.
