I feel like how dumb Gawain ends up looking in screen adaptations of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight depends entirely on how hard the costume designer goes on the titular Knight. Like, there's a definite point beyond which you've gotta be like, dude, look at him – of course he's gonna get back up.

Been thinking about Ford watching the 70s Animated Lord of the Rings Movies... (companion comic to this post!)

#the other two VHS tapes Fidd's is holding are Rankin-Bass' The Hobbit (1977) and Return of the King (1980)! The 70s animated pseudo-trilogy!#A lot of people pointed out on my other lotr 'crossover' post that Ford would have seen the 70s movies!#And i wont lie i entirely forgot they existed. But now i remember i have so many feelings on it okay. Ford my silly LOTR nerd #I dont think he would have seen Bashkis in theaters. far as I can tell it was a VERY limited (likely mostly CA) run in the middle of winter #but Rankin-Bass'? Aired on NBC & ABC. He absolutely woulda watched them or rented a VHS later. Which is why he's most excited by Bashki's #He's just such a nerd. I need him to nerd out. But also lowkey angst on how his single focus on bill/the portal lead #him to neglecting even the small things in life. I am a hater and I hope the Minecraft Live Action Hyperrealistic CGI Movie fails and Hollywood stops with hyperrealistic adaptations of things that should straight up just be animated movies

#shitpost #voltron #I’m pretty sure they’re adapting the original anime so like who knows what’s going to happen #I feel like they’re not going to make Allura a Paladin and they’ll like tease it in the lead up to the movie but they won’t actually do it #they’ll probably save making Allura a Paladin in the sequel that will never happen because this movie is going to die at the box office #I think they’re going to make all the paladins white or white passing with maybe the exception of hunk #I do think they’ll make Allura a woman of color but the vibes are going to be soooo weird I am already praying for her future actress #also I guarantee there will be romantic tension between Allura and keith and then conservatives are going to post rage bait articles #about them being a mixed race couple

#no heart. no effort. no soul. it looks animated everytime cinematic scenes of Berk or the dragons shoe up what was the poiiint #httyd 2025 #aweful set and costumes. barely any cool details. dry emotions. no man i hate it #httyd live action #httyd #how to train your dragon #the only good thing this is bringing that it's giving me a chance to wipe the memory of thw from my mind #lf btw. look at the fur detailson gobber's vest and also the lighting #in these screencaps #try and compare this to whatever the hell they're doing with the remake. is any of it present? no #it looks vooler and better in the animated medium #amd it would've looked good in live action if it wasn't a remake and had good artwork done with some heart to it #like. i can actually imagine a live action httyd looking amazing but not as a remake but as a book adaptation #with changed perspectives and story and cinematography #hey can't replicate the masterpiece #and you know what pisses me off even more?#They based Toothless on his THW model. not even the first movie's model #his movements are all so... wrong

Because it is.#And let me just say. I think it is the perfect adaptation. Somehow this film manages to be one of the best dystopia satires out there #While also being a genuine critique of capitalism and burocracy.#Plus the practical effects and set design were outstanding.#The 'romance' in this movie was definitely also a satire.#It is unbelievably wacky. I'm dead serious when I say this comic is beat for beat something that happens in the film #Guy who told this women *nothing* about the peril she's in form the government tells her he (legally) killed her.#She responds by saying “Care for a little necrophilia?” with NO ROMANTIC LEAD UP.#THE MUSIC SWELLS. HE TEARS OFF HIS JACKET AND DIVES INTO THE BED. SCENE END.#Jill Leyton has incredible range as a hot butch and hot femme. Was the line bizarre? Yes. She can pull it off though.#We paused and watched it back a few times. I wasn't intending to make a crossover this obscure but honestly...#It's...it's too good of a fit to pass up. Idk where people get the idea that muppet movies have only one human in the cast. Both John Silver and Jim are human in Muppet Treasure Island, along with a handful of supporting cast. In A Christmas Carol, Scrooge, his nephew, his former fiancée, and a good portion of the extras in their social circles were all human.

The ratio of human to muppet is determined by how far you can push the story into comedy without losing its heart. The fine line between genius and parody.
