“Be my number two”, “The Goblin…and his second”, it might seem petty, but for these 2 egomaniacs, semantics are important and norman obviously sees otto as inferior. And boy did he have us fooled with that friendship + sob story shit!!! Otto tries to keep his walls high but you can tell norman’s betrayal (the infection of Mary Alice) devastated him not just because of the loss of his former fiancé, but also the loss of his only friend. Sure didn’t help his superiority/inferiority complex either. I feel like his search to be “superior” really doubles down after this point, with Superior Spiderman and his Devil’s Reign plot.

Overall, I think that this relationship was much more impactful for otto than it was for norman…from the beginning, the green goblin was out for spidey. But otto sought recognition and superiority as a scientist first and foremost, which becomes a point of contention in their partnership. However, when things get sour between them, otto’s aim shifts to killing spidey in order to humiliate norman’s ego and “defeat” him. He kinda loses himself in it yknow :[

LOL Just thought of this afterwards but- I can see Danny crawling out of the lazarus pit, seeing a furious woman with a sword who states for a fact that danny is not "My beloved's son" Danny just all like rubs his face "Oh, god... I got isekai'd...." Meanwhile Jason whose last memories were of him being blown up, stumbles out in a panic. Maybe even calling Bruce- until he realize he's in a lab. Definitely on the defensive ready to fight- LOL imagine the spiderman meme as Jason asking who the heck Sam n Tuck are while Sam n Tuck doing the same. Just tossing questions back n fourth aggressively and neither one answering.. mostly because they dont actually know.

Until they caused too much chaos and Sam like OK LOOK We'll answer what we can but for now we gotta jet before Danny's parents find out. Imagine they try and test to see Jason is a ghost.. and Jason now trying to figure out what happened. Wrap his head around the fact he did die- if he came out of the ghost portal.. but he isn't anything like deadman. Jason also really dislikes how easy it was to just take Danny's place. Like none of the other peers (cause i imagine the accident happens before school or right at school starting so teachers don't know what Danny looks like yet besides a photo but children change a lot) Parents so distracted by their portal they just went with Tuck's sad excuse of Danny trying something new with his hair. Jazz was the hardest obstacle but sam n tuck convinced her not to tell her parents and that they're going to find danny. So Jason also consoling a grieving sister who's worried to death about her little brother.

Jason also trying to contact bruce but doesn't know how atm. .... While Danny is in the darkest days of his life.. he got whiplash from dying.. being almost killed if not killed again by assassins.. taken in as a "child of the pits" forced to train. He's just trying to survive while trying to figure out a way to get back home. Also he meets a very terrifying child... apparently the grandson and next heir to the Demon King. Aww I do imagine he does somehow bond with Damian.. imagine them truly getting along one night because Danny's admiring the stars- and Damian first attacks him.. but Danny able to keep intangible to let him wear himself out. Damian mocking Danny in other ways.. definitely just upset at not being able to hit him. Danny snorts and starts talking about why he likes stargazing and stuff. Danny start telling stories about the stars and the two bond a bit. Mostly Damian just taking slight interest in this mundane kid that crawled out of the pit. Really like the stories Danny tells.. and gets curious how life is outside of the league of assassins. Damian still thinking he's superior but he can't help but be interested in whatever this anime thing is. Because definitely bet Danny mentions he got isekai'd LOL to him. Then have to explain anime.

Rough Ideas LOL Though alternatively could also see Them pretending Jason is an exchange student too. But I thought it be funnier even in a sad way and more useful if everyone just thought Jason was Danny. Just he isn't so wimpy looking anymore.

DPXDC IDEA Im pretty sure someone probably thought of it before but like...

What if Danny died same time Jason was thrown into the Lazarus pit? Switching their places. Jason stumbles out of the portal and Danny crawling out of the pits.

Imagine Jason can be mistaken for Danny, and Fenton parents are so fixed on the fix portal that Sam n Tuck can get away with pretending jason's danny.. convincing a confused jason to play along because of the Fentons views on ghosts. Jazz is only one that points out that's not danny, so sam n tuck have to fill jazz in.

Danny is immediately recognized as not Jason but the league takes interest as the child was "born" from the pit.

Basically jason ends up being Amity's hero while they all try to figure out what happened and where danny is. The thought he was dead lingering in their minds. Jason beimg determined to help.

Danny being trained as an assassin, called phantom. He hates every second of it and is terrified. But he has no idea how to get back home. The Lazarus water is protected and even trying to go back through it results to just hitting dirt.

SUPERIOR ACEDIA? Oh.. Oh how would THAT work I wonder.. considering Doc Ock swapped bodies with Peter in that comic series (I know a little from those who’ve actually read them and shared what they know with me)??

My Otto is in good health and wouldn’t be that mad and crazy to attempt a body-swap. It would have to be some other crazy villain. But the prospect of what I’m aware of that happens within the Superior Spiderman series is not ideal. at least for me and all. yikes. it gets really dark and depressing :(

I’d have to look up the other two things tho, I’m not familiar with either of those, but “spider-island” makes me anxious from the name alone.

[Ok, I looked up some explanation videos and here’s my thoughts]:

Clone-Saga: .....oh gosh. cloning Peter... clones are never a fun time and there’s not a whole lot of good stories with them, it seems. a clone of me would be.. weird to say the least?? likelihood of a clone-saga style plotline/arc like that is.. highly unlikely. It doesn’t really appeal to me, personally? It’d be weird seeing multiple of me running around.. don’t like that much.

However, I could see Mysterio pulling something like that as a sort of illusion during a battle, or Chameleon is pretending to be a doppelganger like he’s done before in various instances, like in tssm’s introduction episode for him, Beck, and Mason. Either/or would be fun to play with. definitely a tag team of messing with my mind in battle.

Chameleon being more malicious in the act of psychological torment, while Mysterio doesn’t seem like he’s the type to like.. kill? idk he’s probably killed in the comics, but he just seems more like the type of guy who would have a complete breakdown and reformation if he murdered someone. He can be a little careless with his displays and tricks and all, but I don’t think he’d be out for blood, per se, even if he were truly enraged. this does not make him any less of a threat if need be, though. he’s still dangerous even if he is just a regular human man without any superpowers.

I mean, after all, that’s how quite a few of these bad guys are, just regular people without any powers. though Beck does have his level of intelligence and skill with special and practical effects.. and a little chemistry and dabbling in engineering on the side. Just enough to make repairs and his own makeshift gadgets if Mason/Tinkerer is unavailable.

Spider-Island: AH. OK. Everyone has spider powers. That’s what that one is about. hmm.. I don’t see too much of a difference for that, other than the spider costumes being people just wearing various animal onesies or whatever lol and also the uhh... potential lack of an Anti-Venom.. among other things. Not really much to say about this one. Not much for me to work with within my own verse. Likelihood of this happening is also just as unlikely/impossible as the other.

I don’t really know a whole lot about the comics and the various arcs within them to really think of my own takes on them, unfortunately. I’d need a summary or synopsis of any notable or interesting storylines/arcs there may be within the Spiderman timelines to make any decisions.

I hope that spiderman reference was just an easter egg and not another cinematic universe. Like, the "Venom without Spiderman" premise actually works really well? And it would be a massive disservice to relegate him as second fiddle to spidey like they always did. like, what makes Venom vastly superior to the MCU films is that you can enjoy it on its own without having to have watched like, 30 other movies to even have a clue WTF is going on.

It does appear to be an actual crossover event.

I honestly have such mixed feelings.

I can understand exactly why people are happy. The last time we got a movie with Venom and Spiderman together was a disaster. Now we actually have a fleshed out version of Venom that has a personality and is actually likeable instead of Generic Spiderman Villain Number Four.

But the only reason we have that is thanks to the hard work of Tom Hardy and the rest of the Venom cast and crew.

So many people seem to think that once Marvel gets a hold of Venom it will suddenly be like this mythical event and it will be the greatest story they've ever seen. They seem to think that Marvel can "fix" the character and "tweak" the few issues that came from his development. (Oh woe is me, Venom doesn't have the Spider on his chest. 😭😱)

But Marvel didn't have jack shit to do with the development of the character and, frankly, we've all seen their track record with villains and anti-heroes and characters that are supposed to toe the line between right and wrong. (All those youtube videos and polls that have Loki ranked as the most interesting antagonist in the MCU ring any bells? The rest of their "bad guys" all suck or are so one dimensional you couldn'tsee them if you looked at them from the side.)

So yeah, I do agree with you.

Shoving Venom in here to play second chair is an absolute disservice to all the work Tom Hardy and the crew put into this character.

Pretending like Marvel deserves any of the credit for making Venom so successful and likeable at all is a disservice to all their hard work.

And it is nice to watch a few movies without needing to know lore from 10 other only slightly related films about vaguely related characters.

But I can also understand why people are excited.

I personally am more fearful than anything. I dont want Disney/Marvel to ruin the best portrayal of the character I've ever seen. (No offense to Topher Grace. He tried. But he just had so little to work with in Spiderman 3.)

Random BNHA Headcanons

(This is my first time doing this 😭)

Summary: A bunch of random BNHA headcanons. So, basically the title. The only reason I’m adding a read more is because I want it to be easier to navigate my page, lol

Bakugo is oddly nice when he first wakes up, but he's not exactly a morning person. He's less "I hate the world, why am I awake???" And more like "I'm extremely comfortable and the only thing that can ruin my mood is becoming less comfortable." He likes hovering between awake and asleep, y'know? Which is why if he's sleepy, his guard drops. When leaving the dorms, if he hasn't fully woken up, he goes from "outta my way, shitty-hair," to "mornin' Eijirou," and by the time he's actually aware of what he said, Kiri's already freaking out. If he's in bed all day for any reason other than being sick, he's probably soft for at least a few hours.

Kaminari's the type to wake up at 2 AM with an idea, go to jot it down, and then realize that he wrote a ten chapter book and now he's late for class. He'll probably put it into a google doc or something, so he can continue to add onto it throughout the day. I also feel like he probably will also randomly get a question and then spend hours researching it and any surrounding topics, before rambling to Kiri about "bro, if I went to the beach, I could make a bunch of glass! Probably! Maybe!" And then have to try and convince his friends that he can just make windows if anyone needs them.

Sero had added moves to his skill set, and practiced particular actions, with the sole intention of mimicking Spiderman. When Kirishima questions him on it, he compares Spiderman to Crimson Riot. They have a conversation that's essentially fanboying, both of them saying "we are not bringing All Might into this," and then more fanboying.

Jirou has an extremely eclectic music taste. If you can name a song, she probably knows it. She can memorize full melodies and all the lyrics within two or three listens, because she's just that good. Some people call her the human Shazam, because if you play the first five seconds of a song she likes, she'll immediately know what it is. She's also called out artists if they made a clear rip-off of a much better song. Her music taste is all over the place, which therefore makes it superior. However. This does not stop her from listening to the same six songs on repeat for a week. The six change a lot, though.

Koda has trouble with bugs, especially big ones. They scare him. But he has pretty much no issues with tigers, lions, horses, or even wolves. He loves animals, he really does. If you just showed up at his doorstep and shoved a bear cub in his arms, he wouldn't really question it, because he'd be happy to have a cute animal to play with.

Todoroki believes himself to be the opposite of moody. His definition of moody is switching emotions for no reason. He, personally, doesn't feel any emotion until something happens that day, be it a thought or an event, and his emotions stay fixed like that until something else happens. He could be having a great day, and then suddenly, it's a horrible day, and he can't figure out how people just "get over it." He does, however, find that unless something REALLY bad or REALLY good happens, his brain does a little emotional reset when he goes to sleep. Like, go to sleep feeling down, wake up feeling kinda meh.

Kirishima has considered re-dying his hair. Come on, hot pink is so manly! How could he not consider it? But he eventually resigns himself, because red just is his color now. Also, I feel like once, before dorms, he was really out of it, so he went to class with his hair down, and this was the first time anyone had seen him like that, and everyone was just confused as hell. Especially Bakugo. "Your hair's less shitty today. What the fuck."

Uraraka takes part in stupid bets all the time. Partially for the fun, and partially for the profit. She once floated Bakugo to the ceiling for 26 minutes before she had to put him down, because Kiri said that if she survived, he'd give her a dollar per minute. She ended up having to go to the recovery girl's office, but at least she got her money.

Mina is one of the few people who can understand and keep up with Deku's mumbling. This is not because she specifically tries to, (like Uraraka) or because she's known him long enough, (like Bakugo.) She's just used to gossipping with Hagakure at 4 AM, and therefore can understand high-speed low-volume speech. She's called him out on things before, but only when she's interested. She completely tunes out things about All Might and heroes and whatnot, but if he ever has anything to say about his classmates, specifically about Uraraka, Todoroki, and Bakugo, (because she, Hagakure, and Denki placed bets,) she hears every word.

Iida secretly loves to break the rules. He acts strict in front of anyone who he respects, or wants respect from, but after he thinks everyone's asleep, he relaxes, doing things that he considers rule-breaking without any remorse. Denki heard someone walking around outside while on one of his late-night internet searches. After finally willing himself to break away from an article about pandas, he popped his head out of the door to find Iida sneaking around. After some silent observation, Denki realized that not only did Iida just get back from breaking curfew, but he casually stole Hot Cheetos from Bakugo's room on the way back to his dorm. He said nothing the next day, at least not directly, but he sorta shoved Sero and Iida in the same room so that they could be bad influences on each other.

Despite it being a major part of her quirk, Hagakure almost never feels invisible. She has a lot of friends to talk to, she can wear cool outfits to stand out, and she is always talking. The only time she's not talking is during stealth training, and when she's using said stealth training to spy on people.

Tsu's little "ribbit" thing is actually just for fun. It feels right to do it, so she does it. Nothing wrong with that. However, pretty much everyone else assumed it was a part of her quirk. It took an insane amount of convincing to get that idea out of their heads. Deku was proud to be one of the few who never actually associated it with her quirk. He could prove it if he wanted to, actually, but that would require showing someone his notebook, which would open a whole other can of worms.

Oh yeah, speaking of Deku's notebook, he has multiple. Six to be exact. One is on his fellow classmates, one is on most pros, one is on the LOV, one is specifically on All Might, one is on his own quirk development, and the last one is a narrative of what's happening in his life, which is why he's constantly thinking as if he's telling a story. He mentally narrates everything that happens in his life, although he sometimes wonders if he's dramatizing things because of that. His internal monologue is constantly running its mouth, and sometimes he ends up speaking over it.

Tokoyami really likes plague doctors. He just does. He wants a plague doctor mask so he can walk around with less judgement, or maybe more, who knows? He just loved the concept. He claims that they're just really cool, which most people agree with, but he's never told any of them that he likes them because he saw a plague doctor mask for the first time at the age of six, and immediately thought bird man.

Sato likes baking, but he can't cook normally to save his life. Well, he can, but he can't. He hasn't burned water, and he knows how to do the very basics, but he can't function without a recipe, not to mention the fact that he's googled how to saute mushrooms three times and still doesn't get it. Baking comes pretty naturally. Exact measurements, precise times and temperatures. Cooking does not. Eyeballing ingredient amounts, guessing if the flame is high enough, trying to figure out how often 'stir occasionally' is. He actually once asked Bakugo if he had advice, to which he responded, "Why the hell are you asking me?!"

also i think mcu spiderman has always had this problem of being convinced it’s the ~improved~ spiderman, which they try to assert within the movies? like it was a Whole Thing that homecoming wasn’t gonna be an origin story bc there was this idea that people were sick of it, so they sort of rush through and imply that it already happened while winking and reminding you they’re not making you watch uncle ben die again. and thats how we get fuckin “When you can do the things that I can, but you don’t, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you”. but of course peter parker doesnt work as a charcter without that story because it’s so fundamental to he is, and to establish him as anyone outside of iron man’s influence you NEED him to learn that lesson and have that experience, so they crammed it into this movie (and i’ll admit i LOVED seeing him sew a suit finally) but the problem is it’s too LATE bc thats supposed to be his origin, the thing that makes him spiderman, and also the context of “with great power” is so different and weird and forced and just. doesn’t really work i don’t think???

which brings me to what i actually meant to make this post about which is that sense of superiority the mcu has about ~their~ peter parker and how with that in mind the story of “THIS peter from OUR universe has the capabilities and compassion to stop these villains without killing them even though the others couldn’t and isn’t that special?” just feels very frustrating

On this short edition of Out of Frame, we’ll tackle the issue of false accusation and deadly prejudice through “Tucker & Dale vs. Evil”. Although the story is as old as time, the past few years have seen an increase in nonsensical, dangerous, and impassioned mob justice. While some may seek to do away with “pesky” rights and due process, we should actually reemphasize their importance, and maybe screw our heads on a little tighter… comments on youtube

Oddly enough the new spiderman kinda tackles "cancel culture". At least it shows how innocent people that just are too close to the wrong person can have their lives upended. I would also like to point out that the new Spider-man movie is a really good example of the mob mentality too, the only difference between Spider-man and Kyle is that Kyle was supported by the 'conspiracy theorists", while Spider-man was vilified by both them and the mainstream media.

"Why even bother with a trial by jury?" Asks the self-proclaimed anti-fascists Tucker and Dale Vs Evil is a great movie about class differences and definitely a movie about projective identification gone wild. SPOILER There's literally a scene where a college girl accuses the main girl of Stockholm Syndrome when the latter was trying to mediate between the two groups. Also funny was how the relatively sensible one gets killed off first.Show less

I wouldn't exactly say "Misinformation", more as in disinformation. Being deliberately told something completely untrue by some one(media)

Give 'em the Nick Sandman treatment.  If fake news costs more than it makes them, then they'll stop People so often forget to place themselves in the shoes of the accused AND of the wronged. You want a system that will defend either's rights. The golden rule is a starting point of sound justice. More trials need to be Livestreamed, so people can see what goes on, and what is presented as fact or dismissed as fiction. As far as I can tell, there's no real downside I think.

There was an interesting trend posted by WTF Happened in 1971 on Twitter about the trend in rational language vs emotional language in media. Rational language rose until the early 70s and then has been falling ever since as emotional reactions and shallow moral superiority took over. Unfortunately, a lot of your factual claims here aren't true and were explicitly disproven during the trial itself. Rittenhouse fled because he was still in significant danger and was subsequently chased down and attacked by several other people, including Anthony Huber, who was ultimately killed while attacking Rittenhouse and Gage Grosskreutz, who was shot in the arm while pointing a gun of his own at Rittenhouse when he was on the ground being beaten. You don't need to be in your own home to use deadly force in the protection of your life, which is exactly what Rittenhouse was found to have done by a jury with access to all the evidence, even in spite of a prosecution that nearly caused a mistrial for prosecutorial misconduct more than once - including for withholding evidence from the Defense during discovery, which is a huge problem. Part of the challenge here is that Rittenhouse actually was being attacked, whereas Huber and Grosskreutz were the attackers - so the claim that they thought they were taking down an "active shooter" doesn't hold up as a defense, even if you believe that that's truly what they believed. It is incumbent on the person initiating violent force to be sure they have just cause and neither Huber nor Grosskreutz did that. Rittenhouse, incidentally, did demonstrate that trait in the moment (on camera) where he actually lowers his weapon when Grosskreutz momentarily pulled back his handgun. Rittenhouse only shot him when he re-pointed the gun at Rittenhouse. That's exactly the kind of restraint I'd want to see in such a harrowing and chaotic situation. But it's not what was shown by Huber or Grosskreutz, let alone Rosenbaum.Show less

He has always been assigned to mutant cases, it was kinda his thing what with harboring so many super powered individuals on his main team. It was only natural that Fury trusted him with this assignment.

Although it was a little weird. Fury was oddly content with just monitoring one Peter B. Parker (and he’s known he heard that name before, he just couldn’t put his finger on it.) aka Spiderman and not enlisting him as an asset. Albeit, the kid wasn’t even in high school yet, but he was still of an above average intelligence that set him apart from his peers; besides the, ya know, superpowers and all that.

Maybe it had something to do with Tony Stark vouching for the kid when he was successful in taking down a potential risk to society - or New York, at least - successfully. Two if Scorpion would be included. It seems like Spiderman was starting to indicate a pattern of stopping risks before they could become full blown dangers. Like a soon-to-be drug lord, or a alien hybrid weapon dealer. Phil had to admit, it was impressive.

Spiderman didn’t seem like a threat, although everything was a threat in this line of business. If it wasn’t with you, it was against you - that sort of thing. But Spiderman seemed to genuinely be one of those things that was as non-lethal as they appeared; well lethal non-lethal, the kid could still throw a bus, no problem.

And it’s not like SHIELD had never turned a blind eye to vigilantes. Daredevil being the prime example, which no one could ever figure that one out - that must frustrate Fury beyond belief. But there was no reason to uproot a kid who hasn’t done anything but help so far. Although, one wrong move and he’d be neutralized; but until then they might as well reach out and acquaintance themselves. Before some bad guy gets the drop on an impressionable pre-teen, went without saying.

The ideal solution would be to shut the entire Spiderman thing down, but Stark had already tried that and that only lead the kid to take down one of his planes. So normal life fix was out of the question, so next best option was to make nice and hope he doesn’t stab them in the back - which would be very hard, considering they were still suspicious of the Avengers.

Making nice, as Stark suggested, would be upgrading that eyesore of a suit. Phil couldn’t help but agree. How the hell had a child in a hoodie and beat up converse taken down an entire plane without getting shredded? Phil found that highly unlikely, and a little part of his bleeding heart ached in sympathy.

The kid was approximately 43 seconds early when he dropped silently into the elevated alley that Phil had set the randevoz at. All he had to do was have Stark send a encrypted message to the kid’s phone - although there was some bellyaching about it being a tad harder what with outdated technology and fucking firewalls how does he even get it that strong? Or some other nonsense like that.

“Gotta admit, I thought I was gonna get kidnapped and experimented on.” he said in a casual tone.

“Night is still young.” Phil joked with a plastered friendly smile, that elevated none of the tension in Spiderman’s posture. Huh, not easily fooled. Daisy did say that his smile could come off a little creepy with a splash of pedophilic, maybe she was right. “You’re shorter than I thought you would be.” Because seriously, this kid was basically a step up from a fetus. A foot shorter than Phil, who was admittedly short for his age, and scrawny as all hell - though the oversize stitched up hoodie did obscure that a bit.

“Rude.” the kid muttered “So if not to kidnap and syphon my blood, what does SHIELD want me for?” he asked, getting straight to business.

“Got somewhere you need to be?” Phil quirked an eyebrow and the kid scoffed, but didn’t say anything more. “We want to be allies.” he stated.

“Sorry, I don’t do teams. Lone wolf-spider kind of guy, ya know.” he said and Phil’s mouth quirked at the pun.

“You misunderstand. You aren’t eligible for the Avengers.” yet. SPiderman shifted a little “Ally was a strong word, more of an acquaintanceship if you will.”

“Is that even a word?” the kid asked skeptically.

“It gets my point across, no?” he quirked a brow up.

“Yeah, I guess so.” Spiderman said rocked on the balls of his heels and swinging his arms a bit, a very child like gesture that Phil filed away for later “So what would this ‘acquaintanceship’ entail?” he asked with a cocked head and a curious lit, Phil smiled a little more genuinely. He couldn’t help it, this kid was fucking adorable. He knows most accounts say Spiderman is annoying, but he guesses he shouldn’t take the people he put away word for anything other than petty insults - although he can see why, it must be irritating to be taken out by a 4’ 5” kid in a hand-me-down track suit. Speaking of

“Well, let’s start with the attire.” Phil held out a brief case and SPiderman looked at it then him then back to the case and paused “You gonna take it, it’s kind of heavy.” he said, just to get Spiderman to take a cautious step forward and delicately exchange the briefcase and set it down to gingerly open it. As if it were a bomb. When it didn’t go off, he inspected the suit in the case. Running his hands over it carefully.”Stark made and approved.” he said as the kid explored the high tech polyester “form fitting and flexible for anya nd all acrobatics. HIgh tech lenses to manage your super senses too.” he recited from what he knew when Stark explained it ot him. There were a million other things, but Phil didn’t really care about them.

“It’s bugged.” the kid concluded flatly, shutting the case and looking up.

“Then debug it.” Phil said with a shrug “That was Stark’s addition, it’s not required.” the pre-teen nodded curtly.

“So what’s my contribution?” the kid stood up, handling the case with him. “This isn’t free, I assume.” he wiggled the case a bit.

“You assume correctly.” Phil smiled “And that’s on a need to know-”

“Yeah, I don’t roll that way.” the kid cut off dryly “Tell me up front, or you got no deal.” Phil was a little speechless.

“Disclosure is up to my superiors-”

“Then get permission to disclose.” Spiderman jutted the case out “I’ll wait.” he said and Phil looked at the case and then at the tiny kid who had gave him the oddest ultimatum he had ever heard, then laughed. The kid stiffened. “What’s so funny?” he sounded near offended and Phil waved him off.

“Nothing, just that,” he sighed good naturedly “You are a smart little tike aren’t you.”

“I’m not a toddler.” the kid grumbled.

“Well, I’m not supposed to but since you leave me no other option and I really don’t wanna play messenger for my grumpy boss and a little prepubescent vigilante, I’ll tell you.” Phil sighed, he was so gonna get torn into for doing this. Oh well, he’s done worse. The kid straightened, but didn’t retract his hand. “You can keep the suit, if we can call on you for missions. Back up and what not.” the kid analyzed him for a second and finally hummed.

“Okay, how about this. I keep the suit, but you don’t get to parade me around like a monkey. I won’t be your lackey.” the kid retracted the suit and Phil furrowed his brow and opened his mouth in protest, but the kid cut him off “I will however, act as a consultant. You need information regarding and surrounding or about anything going down in my stomping grounds, I’ll give it to you with no questions asked.” Phil closed his mouth as the kid took a deep breathe “And, additionally, if you need any back-up, in New York, I will provide it.” he said resultly. “Deal?” the kid stuck out his free, tiny hand.

“Hmm.” Phil considered. How good could a child’s information even be? Good enough to stop a drug empire and entire illegal weapon cyndicate. He also seemed to have good intuition, and having a little spider look out jumping around and keeping an ear out for them wouldn’t be so bad. “Deal.” he took the kid’s hand and shaked firmly, which caught the kid a but off guard but then he matched the strength.

“Okay, cool.” he said as they separated, and awkwardly fidgeted - losing most of that confidence he had a moment ago when he was demanding a fair deal. Phil almost laughed at the contrast. “Uhm… yeah that all?” he asked awkwardly, Phil nodded once. “Cool. Kay, see you around Mr. SHIELD-agent-dude.” he waved and then shot a web off to the nearest building and swung away as Phil looked after him. As he disappeared up and around the corner, practically flying away, Phil couldn’t help a more genuine smile spread across his lips.

Fascinating.

gonna be real honest cant bring myself to care about the peter parker vs peter parker debate (e.g. which peter parker is the better/more authentic/more realistic peter parker). all the recent spiderman movies were made by megacorporations yall. theyre all cash grabs. peter is supposed to be that little guy from brooklyn, any movie made with an eye toward the bottom line is never going to get the “soul” of him or whatever. i liked garfield’s parker too but can we stop pretending that those movies (made for cash grab reasons only.... not anything new or interesting done in them!!!! the same story told over again!!!! pls tell me what was so different about them we needed them only years after the maguire run) are ~~~so much more authentic and “real” and heartfelt than the mcu ones. this is the fucking iphone/android debate all over again it’s like!!! they’re the same thing babes!!!! maybe instead of trying to fight about who did the fictional superhero “right” focus on why movie makers feel the delirious need to remake and remake and remake without any real interest in revamping the material or providing anything new. 

and it’s a moot point anyway! the only movie that’s gotten spiderman right was into the spiderverse and that’s the that on that. and you know why they did? bc they a) tried something new and interesting b) loved spiderman. the team involved loved the comics, loved spiderman, and they actually DID pour that love into their work in a recognizable way. no modern version of spiderman has really done that and tbh it’s annoying to watch people try to get some kind of moral superiority over liking garfield’s spiderman more than holland’s.

“May! I can’t find my belt!” Peter yelled from his room, he had been searching frantically all morning. 

“Which one?” May called back, most likely from in front of the TV in the living room. 

“The black one that Ben gave me,” he replied and heard May move from her spot but instead of concentrating on her, he continued his quest.

“This one?” May said from his doorway. He looked toward her from his seated spot in front of his closet.

He stood almost immediately, “Yes! May, you’re a wizard,” he said kissing her cheek and taking the belt before tossing it onto his unmade bed.

“If I was, I’d be able to get you to keep your room clean,” She said as he haphazardly shoved things into his drawer and forced his closet door closed.

“I’ll clean it tomorrow, promise. Isn’t Sunday like a cleaning day anyways?” Peter asked moving to pack his backpack for the day.

“Sure,” May said moving to sit on his bed. “Peter I have to ask you something before tonight,” she said and the serious tone made Peter pay close attention to her but not halt his actions.

“What is it?” 

“What exactly is going on between you and Y/N?” May asked and Peter finally stopped what he was doing to turn to her with wide eyes. Peter had told her some of what was going on but not nearly everything.

He cleared his throat, “Well, um, I — she,” he began but couldn’t seem to get the right words out.

May stood at his distress and put her hands on his shoulders. He had gotten so tall since first becoming Spiderman but he was still her little Peter that lost too much too fast.

“Breathe, honey. Happy has already told me the gist of it but I just wanted to hear it from you. Are you dating?” May asked and his newly relaxed shoulders were tense all over again.

“I don’t think so,” he began, looking somewhere over her head, “I like her a lot but I don’t want to rush anything. And I mean we’ve been on dates but I haven’t asked her to be my girlfriend or anything,” he finished.

“Well, I think you should. You haven’t fallen over yourself this much since Liz,” she said and this made him look at her. “But it’s different this time, the look in your eyes is so much brighter and happier when you talk about her. There’s no hiding or secrets. When you’re together you just look like two happy teenagers,” May smiled and Peter couldn’t help the smile that pushed through the blush on his cheeks.

“Thanks May. You think I should ask her tonight?”

“I do,” she started, “But for the love of god please try and make it romantic. This venue is gonna give you a pretty good head start already,” she said before pulling him into a quick hug.

Nothing in your life had ever gone so smoothly. When you got to the venue the ballroom was set up perfectly. The only thing you had to do was wait for the flower arrangements and favors to be delivered. 

You were doing a final walkthrough when the flower arrangements arrived and you knew this was the end of your smooth sailing. 

There were supposed to be red and white peonies at the entrances and similar but not matching ones for the stage but when they arrived the peonies for entrances were red and the rather large ones for the stage were baby blue.

It took everything not to lose it on the delivery guy. It wasn’t his job but you’d be damned if you didn’t show him at least a bit of the fire in your eyes so he had a story to tell his superiors.

Twenty minutes later you got a frantic call from the florists telling them they would be there in less than 30 minutes with red peonies. Pepper had given you a serious talk about needing to be stern when working with businesspeople because you had always been framed as “Tony’s sweet innocent daughter” and they would walk all over you because of that. 

It was really paying off now.

Once the flowers were fixed you took a deep breath. You could feel your body temperature rising and the last thing you needed right now was for your venue to literally go up in flames.

You oversaw as the rest of the setup went smoothly and two hours before the doors opened you went to the venue’s bridal suite to get ready. 

You had changed into a dressing robe and were finishing on your hair when there was a light knock on the door.

“Come in,” you called, not taking your eyes off the mirror.

“Wow your hair looks so pretty Y/N/N,” you heard Morgan’s voice and you turned to face her and your mother with a smile on your face.

You opened your arms as she ran to you.

“I wish my hair curled like that,” She said tugging at her loose curls a bit sadly. They were almost identical to the ones your dad had at her age. 

You decided on keeping it natural because even the very beginning summer in the city was hot and humid sometimes and you didn’t really have time to get protective styles done anymore. 

“What? You have the cutest little curls I’ve ever seen,” you told her pinching at her cheeks as she settled onto you lap.

“Really?” She asked as you continued on your own hair.

“Yup,” you said popping the ‘P’ before your mother joined you both in the mirror and took the products from your hands.

“It looks beautiful downstairs Firefly. You really outdid yourself,” She said and began putting your hair into the updo you had showed her days prior.

Pepper had been doing your hair since you were little because your father had been a lost cause from the very start. He didn’t fare much better with Morgan’s hair either.

“Thanks mom, I learned from the best,” you said smiling at her and she couldn’t help but smile back as she pulled your hair into a ponytail but allowing a few curls to stay out and frame your face.

This was the most relaxed you’d been all day. As your mom finished your hair and Morgan took an interest in a game on your phone. You closed your eyes, only for them to shoot open at the question your mother posed.

“So is Peter officially your boyfriend now?” The question came after your hair was done so you quickly whipped your head around to face her. Careful not to drop your sister.

Who had subsequently gasped excitedly at your mother’s question, “Does that mean that Peter is my brother for-real now?” You snapped your head back around to look at her.

These two were going to give you whiplash.

“Wait. Stop. He’s not my boyfriend,” you told them.

“Do you want him to be?” Morgan asked.

“Yes, no…maybe,” you said and Pepper’s eyes softened at the distress in your voice.

She walked around so that she was leaning on the vanity in front of you. She gave you the look and that was all it took for you to cave.

“I mean I do but is it too soon? I mean it’s not like Harley has my heart anymore but I don’t want to rush into anything,” you told her.

“You know it took your father and me eleven years before we finally decided to tie the knot. Granted we had been together for a few years before that and that man is actually insane,” she said and gave a wistful smile, you and Morgan laughed lightly. 

“But sometimes I wish we had dived in head first, especially after you came into our lives. I always knew I loved him, even when I denied it so even though what you and Peter have right now might not be love yet it’s worth taking a risk. You’re only young once,” She smiled at you when she was done and you smiled back. 

You hesitated for a spilt second before saying, “You’re right, thanks mom,” she smiled and gave you a kiss on the cheek before lifting Morgan from your lap.

“Anytime sweetheart. Now finish getting ready, you’ve only got an hour and a half and Peter will be here in an hour with Happy and May,” she told you as Morgan gave you your phone back and they headed for the exit.

“Aye, aye Captain,” you saluted and she rolled her eyes.

Your makeup was done quickly and almost as perfectly as if you had gone to a professional. You had been coming to events like this since you were younger than Morgan and that meant that you had makeup down to a perfect science.

All that was left was for you to put on your gown and shoes. 

Unzipping the garment bag you were once again floored by the beauty of the gown. One of your mother’s friends had begged to make custom gowns for the three of you and had pulled out all the stops.

The gown was a deep red with thin straps and a deep v-neck on the fitted bodice. The dress flowed from your waist effortlessly only interrupted by a slit halfway up your thigh. There was no beading, just perfectly draped silk that shone as the light hit it.

You dressed quickly accessorizing with a diamond earring and necklace set that your father had gotten you for your 17th birthday. Finally, you made sure the bangles for your suit were secured to your wrists before slipping into your heels.

You checked the mirror once more before hearing a knock on the door. 

“Come in,” you called for the second time that day.

Turning to face the door you were greeted with an already-smiling Peter and you couldn’t help the warmth you felt creeping under your chocolate skin when his delight turned stunned. 

“Wow, Y/N, you look incredible,” he said as you took in his appearance. 

Sure you had seen Peter in a suit before but never like this. He was all hair gel and muscles in black on black and you weren’t sure your heart could handle it if he kept staring at you like that.

His top two buttons were undone as he held his tie in his hand.

“Thanks Peter. You clean up pretty nicely yourself,” you said before walking over and giving him a kiss on the cheek. 

“Thanks,” he said and had finally looked away long enough so that his own cheeks produced an adorable flush.

“Um, Mrs. Stark said you could give me a hand with this,” he said holding up his tie.

“Of course,” you said, your voice was soft as you tried to ease both of your nerves.

He was silent as you began wrapping the black tie around his neck. The only thing special about it was the single red stripe down the center that matched your gown.

After you were finished the air felt even more awkward, neither of you moving back from your very close proximity. You looked at him, taking in his features and when he looked back you realized that tonight would be intense if he kept up with that stare.

You caught his eyes as they slipped down to peek at your lips and did the same, as he looked back up. A silent affirmation of exactly what he wanted.

He held your waist tightly and pulled you closer to him almost agonizingly slowly. Frustrated, you tugged at his tie and his lips fell softly onto your own.

And that was all it took for you to lose yourself in Peter. Suddenly there was no gala, or press, or superheroes. It was just you and a boy you thought the world of who was holding you and kissing you as if you were the only one who he ever had eyes for.

As you moved your arms to lock around his neck you felt his tighten around your waist and any part of you that wasn’t flush against him had ignited as your body met his.

You could spend the rest of your life completely lost in Peter’s kisses.

That was until three quick raps on the door startled the two of you into breaking apart and look to said door,

“Five minutes, Y/N!” Happy called from the other side and didn’t wait for a reply, just retreating with heavy footsteps.

You and Peter laughed together as you looked back at each other. All the awkwardness from earlier seemingly fading away as you untangled and straightened out your clothes. 

Peter fell into a bow, “Shall we m’lady?” He asked and you laughed squeezing his outstretched hand.

“Yeah let me just fix my lipstick,” you winked at him and he blushed.

Fanon Marvel cause they got I S S U E S

This isn’t really a fanfic thing, more or less what I envision the MCU would be in MY head. Granted not everyone’s gonna agree with these points, but that’s fine. Well all got our own opinions☺️

Q: Who survives the Snap in Fanon?

A: Steve, Thor, Bruce, Natasha, Clint, Nebula, Gamora, Rhodey, Rocket, Scott, Okoye, Shuri, Pepper, Wong, Valkyrie, Loki, and Tony

Q: Will anyone be recast?

A: Yes. Monica Rambeau is Captain Marvel instead of Carol Danvers. Make of that as you will.

Q: Are there gonna be any major changes?

A: Not for the most part, as I haven’t watched all the Marvel movies. However, these would be the most prominent ones:

* T*ny Stark is an anti-villain. His story has been changed to mostly fit the Superior Iron Man storyline. The IM trilogy would stay the same since I haven’t seen them, as well as the first two Avengers movies. However, he gets his immediate change in Civil War, where we find out that he worked for HYDRA the whole time, and wanted the Avengers to sign the Accords so the organization didn’t get found out. I feel it would’ve been interesting if we had seen Tony turn from a man who pretended to help others survive, into a man who only ever did things to help himself survive. If you don’t like this change: well then suck it cause it’s my fanon🙃

* Steve and Thor are in a relationship. This is mostly a personal preference, but I genuinely think they’d be a good couple. Their feelings would begin to come out in AOU, after the party scene. The two have a drink, slow dance, and confess there feelings. Simple, but cute (I think). Steve would think of Thor in Civil War, while Thor would have a scene in Ragnarok, in which he calls Steve and gets his opinion on everything that has happened to him (Odins death, Hela, losing Mjolnir etc). In Infinity War, they reunite and share a big kiss Pirates of the Caribbean style. As for Endgame: Steve doesn’t go to the past (I.e fucking up the timeline and Peggy’s happy life) and Thor stays on New Asgard to rule as King, with his consort by his side.

* CA:CW- People like Rhodey and Natasha don’t just immediately agree to the Accords. Instead, they go undercover and try to find out what the government is actually doing; Peter is on Team Iron Man until he finds out that Tony is HYDRA. It sucks that M*rvel really out here just making Peter iron boy instead of... ya know... Spider-Man; Civil War has a scene where Steve reminisces on his mother (his real moral compass fight me) and we focus more on him and less on Tinkie’s man pain; Instead of Tony being upset that Bucky killed both of his parents, he’d only get upset about his mother, as he actually wanted his father dead. Got this idea from a post where basically a bunch of people were talking about how Tony was probably HYDRA the whole time, which is where I got the idea. Feel free to add anything else.

* IW: Loki and Gamora don’t die. I feel like they killed off Loki a little too early since he was just getting the arc he so desperately needed. While I don’t really know what to do with him yet, I do know that he’ll be in a relationship with Valkyrie. I mean, did you see their fight scene? The sexual tension. As for Gamora, well we all practically hated it when she died and hated it even more when they brought her 2014 counterpart back from the past. Someone on Quora said that an alternative for Thanos to sacrifice on Vormir could be Ebony Maw, as out of all of Thanos’s children, he worshipped him the most. Maybe Thanos would hesitate as this was his most loyal child, but he does it cause gotta wipe out half the universe or whatever. It wouldn’t be as tragic tho, but (1) that’s the price we gotta pay for Gamora to stay alive, and (2) are we reeeaaally supposed to pity Thanos? Thanos? The guy who only ever fell in love with Death???. Anyways back to Gamora: I actually wanna do something for her. If you’ve ever seen RWBY, one of the main characters essentially loses her arm when she tried to save her friend. I know it sounds cruel for Gamora to loose a limb, but hey, sometimes you just like seeing your fav characters suffer🤷‍♀️. I was thinking it could go two ways:

- (1): Gamora loses her arm like the character in RWBY i.e, saving one of her friends like Mantis, Quill, or Nebula.

- Or (2): Thanos uses the Reality Stone to make the Guardians + Peter and Strange think that they have the upper hand. Strange uses his magic to hold Thanos down while the others try taking off the Infinity gauntlet. Once the gauntlet is nearly loose, Quill would try to strike him, as Nebula realizes that the whole thing is an illusion. But before she could warn the others it’s too late, and Gamora looses an arm to her boyfriend, leaving him and everyone in complete shock. I like this option more, as it would show not only just how cruel Thanos is, but that he never really loved Gamora. He just favored her above all his other kids. And hey, I’m a sap for angst.

* Feel free to add anything else.

* EG: So in the first bullet, I already said which characters survive the snap and that Captain Marvel isn’t Carol, but Monica. Aside from that, I haven’t really thought much of what to do with Endgame. Surprisingly, it’s difficult to write a better story for this one. What I would most like to happen, however, is more character moments. Thor’s PTSD and traumas being taken more seriously, and instead of him gaining weight he loses it (cause according to Tinkie’s dumb rant that’s what gets an audience to take your turmoil seriously. Pls don’t hate me for this decision). Bruce doesn’t turn into Professor Hulk, and his traumas are actually talked about. Also he gets closure on his relationship with Natasha (I know it’s not that great but I personally like it). Clint dies instead of Nat and we remember that Nat was the leader of the Avengers for like five years. Steve properly mourns his friends and actually acts like Steve Rogers and not a fucking imposter. We actually see what happened in Wakanda after the Snap, with Okoye and Shuri at the head of it all. Also Pepper would be stand in for Tony, cause ya know, she has a life outside of him and is actually smart. And her and Scott help with the Time machine or what other plan I or anyone can come up with. Again, feel free to add anything else.

Q: Will there be any new characters added?

A: For now just one: A robot named Iris (aka Iron Blade), created by Tony for HYDRA. I’ve made a summary of her here:

* Iris is an android created by the billionaire Tony Stark, who possesses a synthetic body made of Tungsten Carbide which is powered by the arc reactor in her chest. For years Stark worked into making Iris highly advanced, while also keeping her secret from the rest of the world until she was ready to be used by the organization HYDRA. She was trained by HYDRA in combat and artificial intelligence, transforming Iris into a dangerous, ruthless killing machine. However, she still managed to keep some essence of personality thanks to Tony, who refused to have her be simply mindless. This resulted in Iris inheriting some of Tony’s more negative traits, while even accepting his lavish lifestyle. Although she may act like him, Iris has her own traits which vary from being charismatic, eloquent, and sophisticated to privileged, arrogant and cruel. Due to HYDRA’s influence, Iris is mostly misguided and blindly follows orders.

* Iris was eventually revealed when Tony tried forcing the Avengers to sign the Sokovia Accords as a means to keep HYDRA underground. She was introduced as a new recruit of the US government, in which she had a hand in writing the Accords. When the Avengers found that Iris was created by not just HYDRA but by Tony, this caused a huge riff in the team. The people on Team Iron Man immediately turn on him once finding out that he created Iris, which in turn resulted in them finding out that not only had he been providing the organization with weapons, but was a member himself. Out of all the team members, Iris has the largest fallout with Bucky Barnes (the former Winter Soldier) and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), as she mostly worked as their antithesis, showing what probably would’ve occurred had they never recovered from their manipulation at the hands of corrupt organizations.

* After the fight between Iron Man and Captain America, Iris went into hiding alongside Tony, who was no longer a member of the Avengers. For the next two years, Iris stayed by her creators side as he intended to carry out his boss’s plan. The titan Thanos had ordered Stark to help him eradicate half the universe. Tony agreed to the plan, as he believed that Earth had been ungrateful for his attempts at ‘saving’ the world. He would help Thanos, so long as he ensured his safety and payed him. Iris, programmed to follow orders, agreed to the plan without question.

* Once Thanos arrived on Earth, Iris would go to Wakanda to stop the Avengers from destroying the Mind Stone, all the while Stark attempted to kill the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Spiderman (also the only one who knew of Tony’s true alignments). Iris, failing to retrieve the Stone, joins Tony on Titan while Thanos fights the Avengers. Despite the Avengers attempts, Thanos gets the stones and does the Snap, in which Tony and Iris survive and go into hiding once more.

That’s pretty much it. I made this cause I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I wanted to share my opinions. Feel free to add anything or give constructive criticism.

When Bosses Fail: Gameplay and Story Synthesis in Persona 4

I recently was absorbed into Person 4 Golden now that it got released on steam. Since the game is a few years old at this point I’d normally say that this is ground covered by people better and smarter than myself and not write about it, but when fighting the first boss a moment occurred that completely changed my perspective on video game bosses as a whole and that revelation is just too intense not to write about! I’m of course talking about the moment Shadow Yukiko tries to summon her prince charming for a second time and the spell fails. I want to take a look at why a boss trying and failing an attack is probably the single most amazing synthesis of story and gameplay I’ve seen and why it tells you more about that bosses character than anything else could.

For those of you who haven’t played Persona 4, I’ll quickly run down the setup to this boss. I wouldn’t consider it a major spoiler since it is only the first real boss of the game. Anyway enter Yukiko, a girl who is born into a family that runs a famous inn and will be forcing her to carry on the family business when she’s older. She’s not at all into this life and this manifests as the thought that she needs to find a prince to whisk her away and get her out of this life. The boss of this section of the game is her inner feelings manifested into a monstrous phoenix in a cage. Sometime into the fight this monster uses the summon ability introduced earlier via normal enemies to call forth a prince monster that looks like a puppet and which fights alongside her. However, when you defeat it or it runs away, she attempts to resummon it only for her to completely fail and we get a bit of dialogue along the lines of “Why? Why won’t he come!” After you defeat the boss and Yukiko solves her inner turmoil she learns she needs to seek independence by herself and not wait to be passively be saved by someone. 

So its pretty clear the designers have baked extremely important narrative details into this fight, but most of the time when you see this its the villain's strengths being turned into their primary abilities. Why is it so important that this boss tried and failed to do something? Well when we’re talking specifically about villains, we’re talking about people who we know have flawed views of the world. These characters are defined by their flaws first and foremost and in most media these flaws directly lead to their undoing. Voldemort in Harry Potter didn’t anticipate Harry’s mother’s love protecting him and accidentally turning him into the Horcrux that would be his undoing. President Snow expected the fear of the Hunger Games to keep people in line not lead to rebellion. The Joker in the Dark Knight didn’t anticipate the two ships not immediately blowing each other up because he believed people were inherently corruptible. Villains by there very nature are meant to have flaws that directly lead to their downfall and this is often how stories present moral lessons. 

However in games we find this far less often and its often reserved to finding the weak point is an enemy’s seemingly impenetrable armor. The twist identity of Doc Oc in the newest Spiderman game for example is one of the best interpretations of the character as a whole yet the fight devolves into you just damaging him in generic ways over and over with cutscenes showing you trying to disable his arms. His mechanical arms are certainly showcased to full effect in this fight, but not his superiority complex placing himself above people he wants to “help” in a perversion of Spiderman’s ideology. Arguably the best antagonist in Bioshock offs himself and you end up fighting against a guy who uses too siphons too much plasmids to himself to try to become super powerful. In this boss fight we do see the plasmids as the weak point you use to defeat him but only after a full phase of him wrecking house using said plasmids to good effect. In less story focused games, villains often boil down to really bad people who want power and thus it feels a bit counter-intuitive for the player to defeat them by powering up yourself (but you’re the good guy so don’t worry). Video games in general are less likely to present a boss’s failing during the battle.

When movies have villains who are defeated directly because of their flaws it provides a solid moral framework, but when video games fail to do that the moral lesson can fall flat. How do we know Doc Oc’s idea of thinking of those he saves as lesser is bad? Well he says it in a cutscene and he’s the bad guy so case closed I guess? In Yukiko’s case we know for a fact that her idea of a prince coming to save her is incorrect because we’ve observed visible effects on gameplay. This is far more impactful than if she just said it because in order to win the game we as players are hyperfocused on observing the patterns of gameplay that will lead to our victory. In other words, when something happens that helps or hurts our chances of winning that’s something we care a lot about immediately. 

The other reason this boss design is effective is because it gives us a better understanding of the character in a diegetic way which is basically a fancy way of saying its the “show don’t tell” rule applied to video game writing.

Now when making a boss fight like this you can either approach it from a bottom up or top down approach (to borrow magic the gathering design terminology). Top down would be writing the character first and then designing the fight to fit the character, but bottom up would be making the fight first and then writing the character. As always a bit of both is probably best, but lets imagine using bottom up to write a Pokemon gym leader villain. Many joke that the gym leaders are supposedly elite trainers but only use one type of Pokemon and therefore open themselves up to having clear weaknesses. This fact would actually work well if we wanted to write gym leader characters whose flaw is that they are rigorously set in their beliefs and won’t change. For instance the Fire gym leader would be always passionate and excited but not know when to calm down and rest and the Water gym leader could be always calm and not know when jumping into immediate action is necessary. In these cases, them having only one type of Pokemon is symbolic of their unchanging natures. Perhaps when you meet them later in the game they’ve learned and have other types of Pokemon?

So in conclusion most games that aren’t directly trying to create story and gameplay synthesis on every level often fall short when it comes to boss design. Bosses often have powers indicative of their strong points but don’t have mechanical failures based on their character flaws. Honestly the problem is not nearly as bad as I make it out to be, but despite that I still think that if there’s one thing the gaming space needs more of its bosses who make mistakes during battle.

What I like and dislike about each Skam Version:

The order is when I watched them. Which is basically the same order when they came out since I watch clip for clip live with every version since the evak cuddle clip 3 years ago. I won't point out things twice if a remake did it exactly the same. For example the blackmailing of Noora. Disliked it in the og, ditto with every other version. Another disclaimer: I don't have a favorite version since no one was perfect from first to last season. Different versions have different favorite seasons for me.

What I loved about the og 🇳🇴: The complete different format of a show with the clips, social media, roughly camera work that made it look like a reality show or documentary. The actors being the age of their characters and not all being thin, beautiful models. The pov and seing the boring aspects of life too. All the casual parties. The music and the whole russbus culture. In general getting to know so much about other cultures that I didn't thought about before for even a minute. Eva standing up for herself and breaking up with Jonas. Penetrator Chris as the comic relief, he may be a fuckboy, but he is isn't sexist or homophobic, his one liners are iconic. A normal reaction to Isak being gay and Evak actually getting an happy ending and a proper love scene like any hetero couple gets. Eskilds gay pride speech, it made me rethink my own mindset, as well as Sanas line about hate doesn't come from religion, it comes from fear and her whole conversation with yousef about religion. The guys helping Isak get back his man and Magnus hilarious questions, but also his helpful advice. Everything in the scene with Eva's 18th birthday. Even singing imagine. The cuddle clip, literally my favorite clip in all the versions, the spiderman kiss and the universe talk. Yousana love shown without any touching. The girls picking up Sana with the los losers bus. The ballon squads YouTube channel. How sweet and protective Elias was about Sana. 5 fine frøkner! Kosegruppa. If I could chose I would want a season for Magnus and Penetrator Chris.

What I disliked: Jonas treating Eva like she's stupid. Everything with William pretty much, starting with his non existent personality to blackmailing Noora, dissing Vilde, not listening after the SA happening etc. Nooras completely change in attitude from feminist to falling for the fuckboy and betraying your friend, also, ik most of the fans love it, her speeches, the one at William and also the one at Nicolai, it was just too long and arrogant to me sorry, I don't thought yes queen, I more thought yeah okay we got it already. The lack of communication with literally everyone. Vilde being so judgemental. Eva 'stealing' Jonas. Even not being able to speak for himself about his MI. The hate against Sonja, yes her saying Even can't love was fucked up, but her outrage and pain was more than understandable for me. The call your gf scene, idk it just makes me uncomfortable and I just felt bad for the girls. The whole show basically revolving around Noora in every season and her amount of screen time. Chris and Emma in the end, a huge wtf that made no sense and came out of nowhere, as well as Jonas and Eva's suddenly reunion.

What I loved about 🇮🇹: Be aware that I'm biased since Italy is my favorite country since childhood. I love everything about it. Landscapes, food, clothes, cars, the men^^ and ofc the language and names. First and foremost the cinematography. Also the music. All the girls being pretty as fuck. I feel like they where more mature too, but that goes for the boys and Eduardo too. Elia being there since season 1. The skating shenanigans. Martino and Eva being the closest version of this friendship (which is why I hope they continue this in the next season and make them close again, not going for the best buds). Their parents being more involved. Edoardo not insulting Silvia. Giovanni constantly cursing and gesturing like the true Italian that he is. Ofc the bromance in s2, that was what the season was all about for me more than the romance (reason in the dislikes), how they all cared for each other, had actual conversations, were with marti everywhere and always supported him. Gio being the best friend ever and constantly checking in on marti. How all the boys and edos rich gang stood up for marti against the homophobes, I never cheered so loud during a clip istg. The man, the myth, the legends Chico roddi :D. Eduardos soft side, when he played creep or cried when Eleonora could tell him herself what happend. The way they merged the squads together and all hang out boys and girls and also Filippo. Filippo and Eleonora being siblings and literally everything that fillipo does, his sassyness is unmatched. Cute Short king luca, carefree elia. Seriously I could write novels about this boy squad. Their parties and how they do them at 9pm during business days. Guardami Martino! 😂 If I could chose I would want a Gio and Fillipo season.

What I disliked: The darkness, especially s2 although it looked romantic a lot of times. The way Gio kisses, listen I love him with all my heart but he looks like he wants to eat faces or lick them like a dog 😂. I couldn't get into Niccolò, he never grew on me, came of kinda cold and the chemistry between the actors compared to the other versions isn't that great imo. It also has the only Sana I don't like and don't care for her season. It's not bc of the controversy about the actress. She just comes of rude in the show and also has way too less scenes to get excited for her pov, Her relationship with Marti is also non existent. The lack of social media and texts. Some of the actors looking way too old.

What I loved about 🇫🇷: The many changes of season 3. The piano scene with literally heart eyes. Eliott being the biggest dork. Eliott being able to express his feelings about his MI. Eliott saying it's not a girl. The rain kiss. Lucas being a major cutie. His relationship with the girls and Manon in particular. How they helped Daphne with the room. That we get an Arthur season, he's my favorite Madhi. How happy they were when Lucas came out and how they cheered everytime they saw Eliott. The elu social media content. Yann apologizing for his behavior and comments in the past. The hedgehog and racoon personas. Imans dad. Alexia and Arthur becoming a thing. The bts and Interviews, especially the attentive Maxel friendship.

What I disliked: The first two seasons being 1:1 copy from the og, I only watched them bc I had a close french friend when it aired. The whole Charles shit in s3&4. The acoustic music often being a bit to on the nose, like the music before a jumpscare in horror movies, for example the common room meeting, it was so obvious they would fall in love. S3 of France is probably my favorite version of this season, but it is like a dramatic romcom movie and felt less realistic compared to the others and the og. Emma is super bland and kinda dumb. Mika being super rude to Lucas. The disrespect against iman. Sofiane actually dating Manon.

What I loved about Druck 🇩🇪: (Also biased since I am german) Jonas sweetness. Hans is hilarious. Jonas and Hannah reunion. Kiki turning into the sweetest. The girl squad being really close. The boy squad being dumbasses. The change of Alex and showing his anxiety. Kiki and Carlos being a wholesome couple. The changes and extra content. Amira and Mohammeds softness. Their sm game.

What I disliked: The dialogue sounds very cringey to me and super scripted. The Mia actress looks like she doesn't like to kiss Alex at all, no chemistry and no love to be seen for me. Mia being arrogant in general. That Amira had only 7 episodes and Mia extra concent for her boring relationship. I never could get into Matteo much, he was to much of a sloth to me, let everything just happen and while that may be realistic, it's for the viewer pretty boring. I also couldn't get into David much, we knew barely nothing about him for most of the time and then he was absent for like 3 weeks straight. Davenzi also came of as more like best friends to me as an couple in love, they were cuter in s4. Unrelated to the plot or show, but the druck stans that feel super entitled and superior.

What I loved about 🇪🇸: The made subtle changes from the start. Lucas coming out to Eva and not being a snake. Jorge being the softest Jonas and not lying about weed. The girl squad being the closest and cutest with another, as well as the boys and them being a mega squad since s1, way less inner group drama and the friendships in this versions are just super wholesome to me and my favorite girl squad. Also my favorite amira, she wants to adopt everyone and they all care and respect her religion and I have high hopes for her season. Their parties. Also the remake with the most sm content and texts. The only P Chris version that comes nearly close to the og, being sassy, charismatic and having hella sexual chemistry with eva. The fact that also my favorite chris got her own season, that they changed it to a wlw plot that was displayed tastefully and not overly sexualized. The portray of having borderline, being shown how it really is. Lucas having an Youtube channel and how supportive his boys reacted and how tender him and Jorge are, I can't stretched enough how much I love and stan attentive, genuine male friendships without toxic masculinity. Hugo being an absolute sweat heart since his first appearance, not being petty or mad with Cris and just being a true friend. If I could chose I would want a season about Lucas and Amira.

What I disliked: Alejandro looks like 14 to me and I'm not keen on seeing this plot for the 8th time. Viri and Cris clothes a lot of times, Ik they dress like teenagers these days do, but it just looks horrendous to me sry. Them stretching out the story between Cris and Joana so much and breaking them up like 5 times.

What I loved about wtfock 🇧🇪: I just started with season 3 live, because I couldn't get into the characters when the first clips of s1 dropped. I later binged s2 and watched some key clips of s1.

They changed many things for the better. First and foremost Senne, him being supportive of Zoë, a good flat mate and encouraging dad friend. Zoë giving him way more of a hard time and making him work for it. Robbe moving into the flatshare and becoming bff with Zoë. Not breaking up Zoenne and making Senne an important character in s3 as not only Zoës boyfriend. Sander! I love his whole art hoe - e boy brand, his music taste, his clothes, hair, how reckless he is, his blant flirting. Robbe being an absolute baby ™ and clingy af. The Willems chemistry is unmatched in the skam universe. Yasmina is so fucking pretty and intelligent. Rosanders date. Milan being sooo cute and Robbe having confidence in him and them being genuinely friends. I could swoon over the found family in the flatshare 24/7 and wish I could live with them. Robbes dad asking if Sander is a vegetarian. Luca & Noor shading Moyo. Noor having a personality besides being naïve and a beard for the Isak. Robbe caring about his mom.

What I disliked: Senne starting of as the worst William with his bracelets and showing around Ambers nudes. Ambers rudeness in general. The boys talking only about girls and totally ignoring Robbe for 6 weeks straight, especially Jens. Moyos sexist and homophobic comments and behavior. Clips and drama with no explanation or follow ups, brushed off or rushed scenes. The gay bashing and robbes slurs, them turning everything into drama for drama sake. For multiple weeks only clips that were either total drama or happy clips with no normal daily life. Exaggerating the robbe and noor make outs. No Sander the first 2 weeks. The lack of answeres from Sander and questions from Robbe, brushed of with one liners. Barely any texts.

10 Things I have to Say about Timeless so far:

Okay, you know what? I’mma talk about Timeless for a moment, or at least my initial opinions upon re-watching several episodes of S1 and no real knowledge of S2:

1. The fact that Rufus acknowledged right off the bat that he would REALLY not want to time travel because there are very few, if any, good time periods for a black man to be stuck in, and honestly, that’s a mood right there.

2. Rufus in general is a mood, though. He’s fantastic.

3. The fact that the big bad of this show is a creepy-ass white-superiority elitist CEO cult is freaking perfect and gave me such Leverage vibes (more talk on the AU I desperately want in a later post).

4. I really like Wyatt and I think he has a lot of potential. Sometimes I want to smack him when he gets reckless, but that’s a character trait I can get over if he learns from it. I like Matt Lanter and I think he’s doing his best with a role that can easily be a toxic masculinity problem (hopefully my opinion won’t change during S2 but I’m not holding out hope for it, the writers keep dancing on that line between Eliot Spencer and Just Another Douche Tough White Guy and they need to stick with Eliot).

5. Lucy is fantastic. Perfect balance of awkward insecurity but absolute faith in her historical knowledge and just...freaking beautiful, damn. LET HER GET HER SISTER BACK WRITERS

6. Lucy’s conflict between keeping history as it is and changing the bad stuff if possible is also a big mood, and in a way, I respect her for it, but in another, I’m like, “Screw it, let’s go prevent the Trail of Tears, why the hell not?” but that’s just because I’m not as sentimental about awful historical events.

7. Garcia Flynn is one of the best written characters I have ever come across, holy khara. An anti-hero who actually respects the female lead’s abilities and just wants his damn family back? Who continuously shows remorse and regret over the moral ambiguity of his violent actions (insert Spiderman Noir quote here)? Who got TERRIBLY screwed over by Rittenhouse and absolutely has the right to burn them to the ground but also really needs to chill? CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THAT MAKES SENSE WITH HIM??? I really hope this momentum keeps up in S2, I want him to join the Time Team and have some Zuko levels of awkwardness before everyone is “Ride or Die” with one another...I’m also really looking forward to more of his interactions with Lucy, oh my God, every scene they have together is so charged and electric, it kills me in the best way.

8. Rufus and Jiya are the best couple in the show. I adore Garcy with all my heart, but Ruya (what is the official ship name?) are seriously goals and I’m so glad they both have each other, good for them.

9. I’m not against Lyatt, per se, but, ngl, I just...don’t feel that much of a spark between Lucy and Wyatt? Like, I tried, but it just didn’t stir anything with me. I see Lyatt shippers loving the hell out of that kiss in the Bonnie and Clyde episode and I just don’t see it? It felt really uncomfortable to me, considering, you know, he used the proposal story for his dead wife before doing it (undercover kisses are fine and dandy, that’s one of my favorite tropes, but I just didn’t feel that fangirl excitement when it happened here). I think they’re great friends and I really dig a lot of their interactions with another? I’m not that invested in them as a couple, though.

10. Even the recurring characters? Are great? Agent Christopher is the badass Team Mom/Aunt I wish I had, Connor Mason was a well-fleshed out character that kept me guessing about his motivations, even the historical figures were incredible. If I had to pick favorites, I really loved Houdini, Josephine Baker, Katherine Johnson, and Ian Fleming the most. BUT OH MY GOD THE LONE RANGER THING, SAD AS I AM ABOUT HOW THAT EPISODE TURNED OUT, I LOVE THAT THEY CALLED THE MOVIE OUT LIKE THAT, HOLY CRAP.
