From a materialist perspective this is the most ignorant and stupid thing someone could say to you. You literally lose most of your class privileges/material ressources by being abused, you only have access to it when you accept the abuse and make yourself dependend on them. Not to be overdramatic but this kind of power imbalance (Financial abuse, economic abuse) is one of the remains of slavery as the core of the nuclear family system. While on the other hand, moving on after abuse without the support of the nuclear family is a big class downgrade and super fckn hard. You lose the class status of your family, if you aren’t connected to them and have no access to their wealth. Also even poor people have a community (their own family) they can ask for help while you are alone in a capitalist hellscape, a society where vulnerable people get used and abused, taken advantage of etc. Growing up in a higher status makes you kind of naive when it comes to this issues because no one teached you about it BUT you also have low self esteem because of the abuse, you never learned from your family how healthy relationships work which also makes you more likely to end up in a toxic relationship. All this stuff while having CPTSD, and all its very real and heavy symptoms that are not only in your head or psyche but stored into the nervous system of your body. The only thing you can rely on at this point is your education and maybe some cultural knowledge but even that can be limited.

I apologize for this wall of text but I started reading materialist analysis to understand why moving on after a traumatic childhood is so hard and then there are people like this who don’t know shit but talk all day about „privilege“ without caring about actual power imbalances and it makes me furious.

It’s also a very privileged thing to go around and gaslight other people with this nonsene.

Someone just told me to check my privilege because the people who abused and tortured me as a child were wealthy and I actually have no idea how to respond to them.

I was a huge trans rights supporter and ally until I got raped by a nonbinary male. I called him out and he called me terf. It took me years to process that he was right about this, but not because I turned into a transphobic fascist somehow. He was right because terf is a slur, a term, an oppressed group most likely hears when it comes to hate crimes and violence against them. It’s intended victim blaming in order to isolate the victim from other so called „feminists“ and peers just like „crazy ex girlfriend“ or „witch“. He called me terf because I didn’t hold back that he raped me, while he continued to call himself a feminist and probably texted the next „cis woman“ or „afab trans person“ like the predator he was. I also met „normal“ trans people, but guess what happens if you ask them about their opinion of trans people who raped women or „afab people“? Guess what happens, if you ask them about predators using a label intentionally to conceal rape and abuse? I don’t think protecting rapists at all costs is a normal thing to do. Even trans medicalists who tend to question the narratives aren’t real allies for victims of abuse by a trans person. They only feel personally attacked like the other trans people and I don’t trust people who feel attacked by a rape survivor speaking up.

My abuser and rapist didn’t changed his appearance and he also disagreed to try out some of my make up, instead of it he was in contact with „transphobic“ leftist dudes and even complained about cancel culture and how postmodernism ignores the struggles of muslim women. He was at this time political more educated than I was and probably in a narcissistic mental health crisis. He knew what he was doing, he knew it was wrong but he did it because it „gave him the feeling of achievement“. I never met a sick, twisted and evil individual as he was before but he teached me, that there are men who pretend to be trans in order to rape. And they are exactly the kind of twisted evil you imagine. The kind of predator that arranges circumstances like this, because they know rape culture isn’t enough to cover them up, so they need another kind of narrative that protects them from consequences, because they expect their victims to speak up and don’t wanna be caught. Because it thrills them to take a risk and still be „smart enough“ to not get caught. Machiavellianism among sex offenders is a thing.

but the transphobes on this website, especially the terfs (although i don't like using that word, i prefer transphobes) feel like maybe they've never met a trans person in real life.

because they often pull up tweets and posts by supposed trans women that i will say are creepy as fuck and definitely not okay. but as a high schooler, i have met dozens of trans people. trans men and trans women. and none of them have been creepy. some have been bad people, but not because they were trans, just because high schoolers can be dicks. two of my closest friends are generfluid/go by multiple pronouns, and they're like the sweetest people i've ever met. both feminists, definitely not creepy or misogynistic or fetish driven. i've met trans men who became my friends in some of the hardest points in my life who were so so sweet and definitely not women who were victims of the patriarchy and turned to hormones for it. i've met trans girls who were lovely and most definitely not creepy men being perverts or trying to take advantage of women. the trans girls i met still carried some of their male upbringing, yes, but the trans girls i knew were actively making an effort to educate themselves about feminism and womanhood so that they weren't being insensitive.

while i am a trans rights supporter, i do understand the hold up about letting trans women into female only spaces. that's an issue that needs more discussion. but very few-and i mean VERY few- trans women actually take all the steps-the hormones, the surgery, decide to face bigotry, etc etc- to be a woman because they're perverts. cis male perverts would never decide to be viewed as women so they can take advantage of us. they can take advantage of us already, without facing oppression to achieve it.

i just wonder if some of these transphobes have met very many trans people in real life. because, yeah, i am definitely in agreement that i've seen some trans women be weird as shit on the internet, but uh A) lots of people are weird as shit on the internet, and maybe that's not a trans person issue B) a lot of these trans women online are not actually trans. they ARE fetishizers and they ARE creeps, but their online persona is a trans woman. not their real life persona. i don't know. i might be wrong. but i've never met a creepy or misogynistic trans person, and i've met a lot. and i wonder if some of these transphobes and trans exclusionary feminists would still hold their extreme and violent opinions if they talked to a trans person in person, and saw that they're also just people who were born a little different and want to feel comfortable. trans people are not a threat to women. i feel more comfortable with any of my trans friends, acquaintances, or even strangers (including trans women) than i do with almost any cis man.

today i was rewatching seven seconds (best cm episode ever btw nothing will ever top seven seconds) and if you look at emily's face when the uncle was explaining that maybe katie was just playing dress-up you can see in her eyes how she put the pieces together in her head that there was something going on and that the uncle may have done something to katie

it's even more obvious when you watch the clip like you see the moment when it clicks for her but she couldn't say anything unless she had proof of it

Do parents give two fucks about their kids safety?? I will never understand parents not downloading parental controls onto their kid's phone. If you don't, you're a lazy and irresponsible parent. These parents don't deserve to have kids. It's your job to take care of them and to protect them from predators, and you're doing absolutely fucking nothing about it.

AGREED. As someone who was groomed by a content creator, if he ever got popular, I wouldn’t want his original characters to just be hidden.

That covers up everything completely, and does nothing to address the actual issue. I’m not saying it should be celebrated, but being able to take a piece of media away from the original creator and their actions is a beautiful thing. It’s a great way to still acknowledge the character’s uniqueness and impact on the community while taking any power or reach the creator had away.

Now, the whole renaming thing is SO much worse. Not only does it not really do as much to exile the creator, but it covers it up in an even worse way. Sure, it might feel good in the moment to slap a new name on a character and act like you’ve given justice to everyone harmed, but all it does is give the creator a new alias to hide under.

I honestly find renaming a pathetic way of virtue signaling. It does nothing except for make people outside of the situation feel and look better for using the character. Believe it or not, it doesn’t matter if this version of the character has a new name and face. It’s still that character and all you’re doing is ignoring the truth.

Obviously I don’t speak for every victim, you might’ve had the same experience as me and have a completely different take on the issue. All I ask is that you’re peaceful and civil when it comes to debating with others, as at the end of the day, they’re still people too.

(TW mentions of Admin Bright also read the bottom part and the comments it's important) I said a lot of what I'm gonna say in a server so some of this will be repetitive to some. And I really don't want this page to become a drama one so I'm not going to be going back and fourth arguing my opinion with anyone. To anyone that is unaware of what is happening on the wiki a lot of authors are editing Dr. Bright out of their works or deleting stuff with him in it entirely (Some of the deleted stuff was reposted but as of right now we can't say for sure how far this will go).

Dr. Bright as a character has many works that aren't even done by the creator due to the nature of the wiki. So with that and the fact that Admin Bright isn't even on the wiki anymore If there was ever a time where it would acceptable to still like a character made by someone awful this would be it. The be character is a huge part of the community and honestly and is one of if not the most known character. I feel like trying to erase this character is one impossible and honestly I think it's stupid to even try.

As much as I feel in 2023 I shouldn't even have to say this but trying to erase horrible people and horrible stuff that happened doesn't make you look good. It doesn't look sympathetic. It looks like you're trying to hide something. This could be a great time as a community to learn and prevent something like the stuff that admin Bright did doesn't happen again. This would be a great time to acknowledge what happened and say we won't tolerate anything like it again. This is not the time to try and hide it away and pretend it didn't happen.

Also the fact that authors on the wiki are editing Bright out of stuff but so many people still don't say anything about TJs article (and how so much of the other stuff on the wiki that is gross) really looks like they don't care how outdated a lot of the stuff on the wiki is they are just trying to do damage control. It doesn't look good. A lot of the stuff needs to be redone it doesn't need to be deleted. This isn't how a community makes up for it's mistakes, it isn't how you prevent it from happening again, and it isn't how you show you care about problems like this.

Editing this to make people aware because THIS IS IMPORTANT and this posts has gotten a lot of likes quick. DJK is a predator too PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD IN THIS WORLD DON'T CHANGE BRIGHTS NAME DON'T USE DR SHAW AS A CHARACTER DON'T GIVE ANOTHER PREDATOR THE POPULARITY AND THE CHANCE TO VICTIMIZE MORE PEOPLE.
