Hey Stupes just wanna say great song, been stuck in my head forever, can't stop thinking about it, I love you it. Where are Shwabadi and Lizzy's lines. Why is it just you. Why are Ken and Elise relegated to background characters. I love you, I love Blake Midwinter, and both of the above have infiltrated my mind and heart. Also, it's your song, it only makes sense that you'd have the starring role. But please give Shwabadi and Lizzy a moment of spotlight please I love them and I want more of them

When discussing Batfam relationships, there's a tendency to focus on out-of-context 'events'. For example, when discussing Tim and Dick, many people bring up the 'giving away Robin' event without talking about their reconciliation immediately after or their lengthy history of love and brotherhood. Same goes for Tim and Damian; they are almost entirely defined by the early events of their relationship (namely the dinosaur murder attempt and the line-cutting), rather than their more amicable interactions later on, or their nuanced and complicated feelings for each other.
This is possibly why people want Cass and Jason to get along - there's no 'event' to make them dislike each other, so people don't think too hard about whether they would actually be good companions. On the flip side, many people use Batgirl (2008) to say Cass and Dick don't get along, without discussing their reconciliation in Batman and the Outsiders + evidence of their camaraderie elsewhere. (Also ignoring that 2008 is deliberately OOC for Dick).
This is completely understandable. Events are often glossed over in canon, so some of this behaviour stems from desiring a bigger unpacking of certain moments. Also, nobody has read every comic in existence, and of course you'd base your dynamics on what you have read.
However, I think it's important to remember that events don't exist in isolation, and relationships are defined not only by events but by how people interpret and learn from them. Singular events rarely define entire relationships. Personalities, belief systems, and relationships to others affect how events are viewed (case in point: to Tim, the line-cutting is more of an excuse to beat Damian into the ground, rather than a threat to his life. Damian is way more affected by the hit list than Tim is by the line-cutting).
Events definitely have a place in relationships, and I make headcanons based on singular events all the time. But including context, consequences, personalities, and perspectives into discussions makes for richer and more meaningful interpretations.

Okay listen I don't want Amane to be unforgiven, at all, and even though I'm pretty confident her verdict will turn up as forgiven given how the votes have gone I am aware there is a sliver chance that she could barely get into unforgiven, and that scares me That being said however, the one positive that would come from her being unforgiven would be seeing Jackalope's reaction because could you fucking imagine "Oh, you didn't forgive her because you thought you could change her worldview? Tough luck with that" [One Trial Later] "Are you actually fucking kidding me, say sike right fucking now."

So do I answer this anon genuinely orrr do I acknowledge the fact that all it's gonna do is make me stressed out and stick me in the autism "if you just explain more and better and more and better and more and better..." loop and be bad for my mental health.
Edit: I <3 my therapist and a quick reminder that I am not a bad person / not harming anyone & don't owe anyone shit of an explanation has officially fixed me I think.

"we need more evil female characters" you guys cant even handle:
a traumatized 16 year old girl who wants to be loved and appreciated so much she can only think about herself first
a traumatized 22 year old woman who doesn't know what love is and tries to study it like a culture in a petri dish to be happy
a severely traumatized 12 year old girl who has been put through literal torture and is rightfully aggressive and defensive

I don’t know if this is a controversial hot take or something a lot of people feel, but I’m tired of hearing people unironically describe Ace Attorney as being “about gay lawyers”. Because it’s not. Do the lawyers act gay? Yes. But that’s not what 99% of the playtime is about.
At the end of the day, Ace Attorney is a satirical story about the corrupt justice system in Japan as represented by a kind-hearted defense attorney protecting (mostly) innocent defendants from having their lives ruined by misguided prosecutors. Its goal was to flip the cultural narrative that defense attorneys are trashy scum who make money off of sympathizing with criminals. And they did this through episodic, goofy murder mysteries.
So where does the gay come in? They wrote some accidentally romantically-charged dialogue, fans were obsessed, and the writers decided, yeah it’s pretty good, let’s do more of that. So they proceeded to toss in more gay side-banter and whatnot amongst the homicide investigations and court sessions.
Now, it’s not like Ace Attorney is the deepest, most poetic social commentary ever written, but it still has a meaningful theme inspired by a real life issue, so it’s pretty discouraging seeing people either not process it or straight up ignore it in favor of “the gay lawyers”. And that’s not even getting into all the other meaningful, non-romantic character relationships that have way more presence in the plot.
I know there will always be uncritical, shipping-brained people in every fandom, but what gets me about how bad it is here is that people who only know as much about AA as what they’ve heard really think it’s “about gay lawyers”. I was watching Drawfee recently, and genuinely all they know about the games is contextualized by Karina’s gay lawyer ship art and brief plot description of how gay the lawyers are. My friend recently told my other friend that Ace Attorney is about gay lawyers to which he was like oh yeah I heard about the unnecessary feelings scene. This is all he knows about the games.
I don’t want to make this sound like a bigger deal than it is, but damn. It truly feels like a lot of people refuse to engage with media in any way that doesn’t involve smashing male characters together like dolls. If you comb through the entirety of the Ace Attorney franchise, you’ll see that such a small fragment of everything that happens is homosexual law, yet that’s the thing that gets amplified to ridiculous proportions. All I can do for now is focus on the posts from fans that love the games themselves just as much if not more than they love the ships.

Not saying anything I haven’t already said but it’s 2 in the morning and I have feelings about this!! I want more queerplatonic art and interpretations in the tutu fandom sooooo bad. I keep coming back to how it’s so rare to have a show of this genre where the boy and the girl stay friends without any pressure to make their relationship “something more,” and that really resonates.
It’s not a bad thing but it’s a little sad to me that the tag is so focused on romantic shipping when there are so many other ways to explore the relationships in the show. I would love to see more people engaging with the text in ways that don’t fit in with the conventional relationship script.
Duck feels she is lacking in some fundamental human quality, a narrative that is so very often, an aspec one. For a show that’s so entrenched in amatonormativity I connected with the narrative of tutu in a way that I do with so few shows because it feels so fundamentally aspec. And I want to explore the shit out of that!!
The way the show develops it’s central relationships really resonates with me—rather being built upon some nebulous attraction the foundation of many central relationships come from a place of deep admiration. There is no expectation that that admiration must blossom into romance. At the end of the day, the world is saved through a friendship. There’s no NEED for it to be anything else because that love is complete just as it is. There’s no lack felt—only the strength of what’s already there.
And that said, I feel like when engaging with fanwork that quality is often missing. The idea that these relationships hold the same strength and validity whether they’re platonic or romantic doesn’t always carry through. And don’t get me wrong, I love to see a cute couple. But I wish there was more exploration of the weird nebulous up to interpretation not-quite-romantic, not-quite-platonic relationships the show gives us. It can go either way so it’s so strange to me that fandom tends to gravitate towards only one outcome to these options
Anyways, this is my rallying cry, JOIN ME IN QUEERING PRINCESS TUTU

don't have the energy to write is rn but just thinking about Moss and his low Int high Wis build, his proficiency in Insight, and Astarion telling him "Oh I was a magistrate it's all very boring"
He doesn't know what a magistrate is. He goes and asks Gale. Gale explains it to him. He asks Gale if magistrates are usually good with knives and picking locks and things like that. Gale says no, not usually. He goes back to Astarion. Stares at him unblinking for like a solid minute, big black eyes giving nothing away.
"Why are you lying?"

Ashley: You don't believe in god? 🤨
Me: Aw, how sweet
Suvi: Just a constant reminder of the divine intelligence behind all creation
Me: Hello, human resources!?
#not entirely fair that I don't judge so harshly for Ashley's comment being so out of pocket. But typically in me1 you can respond in kind#(I don't remember what Ashley's response to you saying no is)#and it feels made to be a what the fuck Ashley moment. Not sure if it is. Ashley also never brings up religion again#Suvi probably bugs me more because it's in a later game so I'd expect better. I get fake alien religions are easier to explore#but you know. Thane and Samara are examples of actually religious characters who don't just bring up their religions#once and only once so they can put you on the spot and act accusatory. thus making a moment that leaves no one looking good#Suvi being a scientist and insisting unprompted that the universe being beautiful is self-evident proof of a divine intelligence#Like she's expecting you to agree with her. Then immediately getting defensive if you lightly don't. Is a bit more annoying#she also brings it up later in ways that feel weird and I don't like.#It's a very weird type of agnostic vibe where she has an almost catholic insistence that there is a Creator of some sort#but she's like 'who knows what our creator is like' and seems to have no real moral beliefs attached.#there's probably a word for that besides agnostic. She's a scientist who believes in creationism and apparently little else#I probably also feel weird about it because I come across that sort of person more often and they're weirdly hostile towards atheism#and it hurts more because I expect them to be more understanding of my own position
