helluva boss has underutilized its female characters to a frustrating degree - fair and normal criticism of which many shows and movies are guilty of.

Vivziepop has done this on purpose because she is a raging misogynist with a burning passion for hating women - bad faith criticism, singling out one single writer unfairly, and bringing up a weird personal beef with a stranger.

helluva boss has a lot of very thin characters and more body diversity would be refreshing - normal criticism, many shows are guilty of it, Viv is heavily inspired by the art of Tim Burton and Invader Zim but she could still move away from everyone being a stick

Vivziepop is filled with hate for fat people and wants to dance on their grave- bad faith criticism, personal beef, singling out one show when so many shows primarily have thin characters,

this is why people don’t listen to a lot of a criticism leveled at the show, it’s always so personal and strange that even when it has a fair point it is so over exaggerated and bitter I can only assume that they have a weird parasocial jealousy that a women got to make shows with her cringe tumbler OCs. The show had some themes of classism but it’s really not that political please stop bringing up random US politics over some fumbled writing decisions and an art style.

Exactly! We are not against criticism. It's just how insanely toxic and downright disgusting some of the things that they are saying that makes it very hard to take them seriously.

Like, the other day, I saw two people with opposite opinions have a normal, respectful and nice conversation about what they like and don't like about the shows. It was so refreshing to see! I wish It could be like that everywhere in the fandom. I just don't get why we can't act like the grown-ups we (hopfully) are? Like, you get tired of bending over backwards for them, and sadly, that leads to you wanting to be nasty back to them. It's a evil circle of hate. Like, I am always open for a conversation, and to hear people out.

(And to be clear, people I bring up in my post are people who are not open to conversation and are way to stubborn to even discuss any nuance in these shows.)

Redacted Boi Social Media Headcanons

Vincent only really uses Instagram, but is required by the Department to have it private because his human name is legally missing-presumed-dead and his face has a risk of being recognized if someone from his human life stumbled upon his Instagram. That said, he doesn't really screen people who request to follow him

Darlin' and Sam don't use any social medias. Darlin' has a Facebook from teenage years, but they deactivated it. But not fully deleted, so they can still be tagged in all the group photos posted to the pack page. In high school, Darlin' was the person who got a lot of unsolicited DMs because they were hot but they hate attention so they blocked everyone but their pack and deactivated. Darlin' reluctantly keeps their Discord for the pack server

David hates social media. He maintains the pack's private Facebook group and Discord server (though the latter is really more Asher's job, David's just in charge) but will not touch anything else. David's favorite social media is YouTube because he can lookup tutorials for anything and not have to ask anyone for help

Milo's a borderline Instagram influencer. He's got a gazillion followers (who all think he's hot, and he is). His Instagram is directly linked to his Facebook, so every picture and caption he puts on IG gets automatically posted to FB too

Marie comments only on Milo's Facebook (she has and kinda uses IG, but doesn't comment). She's the one that will leave the heartfelt comments with "Call me" at the end. She knows that's a meme among younger people that their older relatives leave "what a beautiful couple. Call me" comments, but she does it anyway. And guess what? She does it because it works. Milo👏 is👏a👏Mama's👏Boy👏 and he will call her when she leaves those comments

Asher doesn't use social media much, but is perpetually on Discord. He mods the pack's server, and like 6 others just for fun. He does post lots of pictures of Babe and selfies of the two of them together on the pack's Facebook though

Damien used to get into arguments on Twitter with randos. Huxley thinks it's funny to pull them up from when Damien was a teenager

Huxley was never much into most social medias but I like to think he'd be like that one TikTok dude who pops up on my Tumblr dash occasionally who explains how to do calisthenics and other workout stuff in a really simple, easy, modified way for people who are just getting started. People started following him because he's hot, and then realized he's actually like the nicest dude and doesn't know he's popular

Lasko's a Tumblr boy. I'm not taking constructive criticism on this

Gavin refuses to get an Instagram because he knows he'd get too addicted to it. He knows he's ridiculously good-looking and would amass a following supernaturally fast, and that's why he won't. But he has his old Facebook from when it first started to be popular. He got rid of all his old friends list and now just has Freelancer, Huxley, Lasko, Damien, and a handful of d(a)emon friends who also have Facebooks like Crux

Avior doesn't have any social media at all

The stress of posting a story is still weighing on me and on this particular day, I'm feeling it in the form of restlessness.

Even though I am knee deep in Tears of the Kingdom, it can't occupy me 24/7.... Well-

Anyways, in an attempt to calm myself, I'm gonna talk about my new story so I don't feel overwhelmed with not doing anything.

So, 👏, the name is normalities, I'm posting it on Wattpad (check it out here) and it's a coming of age, romance with an anxious girl who's trying to understand why she stands out so much when she finds herself no different than anyone else.

I don't know if I'll do this for every chapter, but I wanted to talk about why I wrote the story/chapter since there's always some big reason behind anything I do.

In this case, I decided to write normalities because it's very rare for media to get anxiety right. While there is no "correct" way to write anxiety, as it's different from person to person, most shows and movies have anxiety as the person who passes out when faced with a difficult situation. While that can happen, most people who have anxiety just wouldn't show up somewhere if they felt that stressed about it. At least, I wouldn't.

So, I wanted this story to better represent an anxious individual, to see the spectrum of how it can present itself. It's also to showcase that it's not simply "get over it" to overcome anxiety and it also doesn't get solved in one day after a inspirational speech lol.

The friend she makes is also very important. It's to give an example of how to respond to someone who has anxiety. Again, it's different from every person, but I tend to be more receptive when someone is patient and understanding. When someone realizes I talk like a cynic because I'm thinking of the worst case possible, and they don't take offense to my words, I'm the most calm.

In my experience, I overthink someone's reaction to what I'm going to say, but if I can voice my concerns and not hear "that's not going to happen, calm down" then that's all I can ask for.

I really enjoyed writing this whole story, but very specifically certain parts later in the story. Getting to write a character who actually shares my concerns and irrational worries was something I never thought I'd do!

Oh, and if anyone does check it out, for one thank you and I hope you enjoy reading ❤; but, while it is done, it's pretty much just a 1st draft. So feel free to leave some constructive criticism because I didn't have it beta read and there may be some things that are major issues. I wouldn't be opposed to editing them even after it's published.

But, I'll thank anyone who read this whole post!

the difference is the witcher novels and shadow & bone are books about straight people and the witcher is significantly more faithful to the books than the amc show has already revealed to be compared to the tvc novels. with the witcher they didn’t change characterizations but the order of events and the like. i just think first and foremost adaptions should be love letters to the fans and the writer of the original; they usually aren’t but that’s the way it should be. but btw i agree with another anon, i don’t think anyone will ever top tom cruise’s interpretation of lestat, he’s a nut job in regards to his personal faith, but cruise is known to very hardworking and takes his job very seriously.

I really like this statement, when I consider it, most of my fanfic and my favorite fanfic to read, favorite fanart to see, would fit this guideline, including my Coffeeshop AU*. And maybe this is a factor for why fans of the TV series versions of the Witcher and Shadow & Bone were drawn to read the books; they could tell that those series were faithful to canon and were a love letter to the fans and the writer of the original. People can perceive that.

*BTW, really good AUs, in my opinion, change the setting/era/etc., but maintain the chemistry and behavior of the characters from canon as best as possible, and possibly include little easter egg references to canon in some form or another.

We're living in a time period where that's not what everyone wants, I'm learning. Some people want an adaptation to make corrections and/or updates to the original, which requires that it be unfaithful to canon, maybe as constructive criticism to the writer of the original.

I'm not placing a value judgment myself on which is the better approach, different fans have different needs/expectations. But I do want to unpack these different approaches a little further, I hope that's alright with you:

Despite some noticeable changes to the 1994 IWTV film (i.e. Antonio Banderas as Armand, not the canon appearance/age), overall, I think we can agree that it was basically faithful to the books, and a love letter to the fans and the writer of the original. I believe that's largely what made it so successful, so widely beloved by the fans of the books and also people for whom the film ended up being their gateway to the books, not even knowing the canon material when they first saw the film.

Movie!QOTD was not as faithful to the books, there were many more changes to the canon story, although it had enough nods to the canon story like Lestat's concert, Khayman was actually in it, the Queen of the Damned was awoken by violin and was played fiercely and beautifully by Aaliyah. It was still a gateway to the books for some fans, and I've seen a lot of nostalgia for it, but it doesn't seem to have garnered the same amount of success or cherished status from the fans as movie!IWTV. As an example, just on the Armand character, as @xxgothicchatonxx put it [X]:

Matthew Newton was cast as Armand in the QOTD film, and while he certainly looked more like the book version (except for his hair colour) all of his personality/defining character traits were cut out or not really defined that well. So, I’ll definitely take Antonio!Armand :)

I would add that, from what I remember, it's not established that Marius is Armand's maker? That's a big part of his character. And there's no Daniel relationship at all, that I can recall.

For some fans, maybe it was more important that the actor for Armand look more like his canon description, and maybe they prefer Newton to Banderas. For others, it was more important that he had a role with more faithful canon plot points and acted more like Armand's canon description, so maybe they prefer Banderas, whose role did include his acting out actual canon scenes and dialogue. This is just one example of the changes that the showrunners chose, both Newton and Banderas in their roles were unfaithful to canon in different ways, but it's subjective as to which aspects of the character are more important to a particular fan.

YES and you KNOW I can talk praise about (yes, pretty much official nut job) Tom Cruise's high bar on work ethic and rich talent for days, totally with you on that. He was heartbreaking in Magnolia. Even in sillier roles like Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, or minor roles like Lestat Grossman in Tropic Thunder, he puts in 110%. I will always think of his Les character when I hear “Apple Bottom Jeans” 😂

And I still wish he'd be cast as the Marquis de Lioncourt someday, his own father...!

But I actually do have an answer for that! I watched Lightyear (2022) for the nostalgia factor, and it was a remarkably OK movie (not terrible, had cute characters, but not fantastic, and would have worked better as something unrelated to buzz lightyear but that has nothing to do with this ask asdfasdf). It made me remember how good the original Toy Stories were so I went back and looked up some details I forgot about the movies, and even rewatched the 2nd one on an afternoon last week (Toy Story 2 is the best one, no I do not take constructive criticism).

Then I was like, "lol I'm going to make Andres the Woody" and this happened haha! But also, believe it nor not, I already had an AU like this in development all the way back in 2020, except it was a serquel fic and in reverse; Sergio was a teddy bear and Andres was the guy that owned it.

So I'm really happy you enjoyed this crazy AU! And I hope you'll have fun with how it ends too!

The only piece of constructive criticism that i have is in regards to the portion of the fic, near the end of part 1 here, where it states...

“You sound like a perfectionist” “I have a little bit of OCD, what can I say?”

The reason i am pointing out this small part of the fic is because it (likely unintentionally) plays on a stereotype of OCD.

As a mental illness, disorder, and form of neurodivergency, it has often been stigmatized, stereotyped, and reduced to perfectionsim, germophobia, and/or being a neat-freak.

OCD is actually A LOT more than what it's typically made out to be, however more often than not most people are unaware of what ut actually entails.

Those with OCD struggle with clinically obsessive compulsive behaviours that can be (but are not always) triggered or perpetuated by trauma, fears, or the increased struggle with intrusive thoughts.

[Disclaimer: All that being said, OCD is also experienced differently at differentiating levels of severity between every individual that has it. This is also an extremely simplified explanation.]

As someone who actually has OCD, i just want to raise awareness about how reducing this mental illness and neurodivergency disorder to simple statements like this, meant as a joke or not, only serve to perpetuate untrue stigmas and thus society not taking those who truly have OCD seriously.

This reblog IS meant to support the fanfic writer here, and in no way am i trying to bash or spread hate about this blog writer.

I do NOT believe that the writer intended any purposeful harm by including that 'joke' in their writing.

They are FANTASTIC at writing and i truly admire their skill. It takes bravery to try your hand at writing, and then some more to post it on the internet. And for that, along with knowing their other works, i genuinely respect and commend them.

I merely want to be educational and let this simply be a mere learning opportunity for anyone reading this fic; anyone writing fics with characters who are neat-freaks, perfectionists, etc or a character who genuinely has OCD; as well as for the writer here because they are already great at what they do and can only go up from here :))

“We’re always stuck with her!” Wrecker groans. “Can’t we ever get a different hunter to work with us instead of this one?”

“You really want to argue with the Kaminoans, let alone the Republic?” Tech questions his brother as Wrecker groans even louder before pushing his brother over. “THAT DOESNT SOLVE THE WORLD’S PROBLEMS!”

“Solves mine for right now” Wrecker took a seat on the crate waiting for the rest of the batch and for their favorite bounty hunter to join them on the mission.

“Come on. I know the Republic doesn’t work with many bounty hunters and or Mandalorians. But why is she the only one both the republic and kaminoans agree on?”

“Can it Echo. You have barely worked with her like the rest of us” Crosshair glares only to see Echo’s annoyed expression grow enraged. “She’s a piece of work”

“She’s the best we’ve worked with. As much as she pushes every button on our circuit.” Hunter interrupts the two as they reach the hanger finding the two waiting for them. “Always fashionably late I see”

Or right on time, enjoying the eavesdrop

The five froze scanning around before hearing a loud whistle ring through the hanger. Crosshair immediately looking up to the infrastructure seeing their bounty hunter give him a smirk waving her hacked communicator.

“You always do this, Y/N”

“Oh come on. You know you love me for it” Y/N laughs stepping forward as it made them all jump forward when she stepped practically out to her death.

But the hunter has a few tricks and gadgets to keep her from plummeting.

Y/N softly landed before kicking the tip of her boot on the floor to deactivate the hovering device. She smiles tossing the hacked comm to their sergeant.

“Did you miss me?”

“Absolutely not” Crosshair bites as he flinched to the laugh roaring out of Y/N.

“Oh I know you did for sure, Cross” Y/N steps into his space giving him that loving smirk of hers before turning to the Marauder. “So, last time I worked with y’all, this ship was a wreck. Who did you get to fix it?”

“If you—-“

“Read the damage report written by the analyst himself, then I would know that a number of droids took care of it under Gunther’s command. Yeah I read all of your reports Techie.” Y/N boops Tech as he quickly step back annoyed. “I just like hearing it from you over a screen”

“Well Y/N, I can assure you. Tech would be more than happy to talk about the mission instead of reading it over—-“

“I already know we’re going to Hoth to retrieve a device that holds information about the whereabouts of several sith the republic has encountered” Y/N interrupts Hunter as she slips on a set of thick gloves. “The device could be buried. Or under a block of ice into icy water. I believe some of you can survive an eight foot swim under water” she looks at Hunter and Wrecker. “As others should remain on the surface” she smiles at Echo and Crosshair before activating the device built into the gloves causing the finger tips and palms to glow a light blue. “You’ll be happy to hear…that I have the right gadgets to help us with this mission” she claps her hands before holding them out to magnetize her two footlockers into her embrace.

“Are you going to be this annoying throughout the entirety of this mission?”

“Wrecker!” Hunter exclaims as Y/N couldn’t help but laugh even more.

“Oh Wrecker…we’re all equally annoying here” Y/N smiles stepping aboard the Havoc Marauder and getting situated.

The boys are sure going to have the time of their live with this one

“Alert what?” A younger Y/N smiles at the cadets arguing over the Lula which is now in Crosshair’s embrace. “Are you two fighting over that tooka doll? Seriously?”

“Crosshair took it from me! When 99 gave it to me!”

“He gave it to all of us Wrecker!”

Y/N rolls her eyes before taking the tooka doll into her hands. The two now upset with Y/N as Tech was there to quiet them but it failed.

“You two make up. And I’ll think, about giving it back to you”

“But! No! I want my Lula now!” Wrecker frowns as Crosshair glares at her before crossing his arms and storming off.

“Maker. I hate cadets sometimes” Y/N leaves the barracks to go handle what she was there for.

Y/N sat at the only table in the Havoc Marauder working on one of her devices for the ride. Echo sat with them mapping out a plan for the mission.

“Hey do you mind giving me a ha—-Oh right sorry” Y/N smiles knowing the joke was distasteful and Echo wasn’t going to laugh.

“You’re being rude…”

“Right. Right. My apologizes. And I’m genuine for that one” Y/N reassures Echo as she continues to work even with the man staring into her soul.

“What are you even working on?” Echo questions not getting an immediate response. “Seriously. Every mission I go on with you, you’re always working on something”

“Keeps my mind busy Echo”

“Do you ever sleep?”

“Hmm. Depends on the month” Y/N shot him a smile as Echo waited for the punch line but there wasn’t any. Does she not sleep? Like at all? “But hey. I can finally tell you. That I’m done with this gadget” she slides over a cylinder to Echo like she expected him to know what it is. “Just trust me and put it on the socket”

Echo takes it hesitantly looking at where his socket connects to it, and the second he attached the cylinder, it opened revealing a hand. He looks at it with complete shock as it wasn’t rejecting him, no tricks. It was completely in his control and it’s his.

“Now you have both hands back. If it ever malfunctions, it’s an easy fix that Tech can fix it if I’m not around.” Y/N smiles putting away the scrapes she didn’t use before taking out another project. “I’ve been thinking about that one for a while, I’m relieved it worked right away. Usually the triggering device gives a different read. But yeah. Again. You have both your hands now” she smiles picking up the multi-tool and getting to work almost immediately.

“…thank you”

“Ah no need to thank me. Well…if we’re ever on Coruscant at the same time. You owe me a drink, how about that?”

“Deal” Echo replies as he now started to watch Y/N work. She’s always doing something…

A bit into the night, Tech left the cockpit knowing it’s now Crosshair’s turn but he couldn’t help it as he was staring at the surprisingly wide awake Y/N still at the station she was at when they first started the trip over to Hoth.

“I do believe it’s Crosshair’s turn for the quarterly night watch. What are you doing up?”

“Ha, you think I’d help watching this tin can” She teases knowing it infuriated the analyst. “I haven’t slept yet”

“Y/N, this is night two. How have you not gone to sleep yet?”

“Hey I just chill in the spot where I was told to sleep. Doesn’t mean I actually sleep. I’m resilient. Don’t worry about me Techie” Y/N gave him a reassuring smile before tuning back into her work.

Who couldn’t worry about that? Tech thought on his way to the bunks passing Crosshair who brought his rifle to pass the time with cleaning it.

“You going to sit out here alone?”

“I’m used to it. Why?” Y/N looks up at Crosshair as he couldn’t be straight with his wants. So she caught on and had to. “Awww is the marksman in need of some company at this hour?”

“Forget it” He glares turning to the cockpit.

“By the way…I fixed your scope”

“What?”

“I fixed your scope on your helmet. I can’t believe you guys trust electrical tape to the degree that you do. So, I re-wired it and fixed it” Y/N lifted his helmet up from under the desk as Crosshair took it back.

“When did you—-“

“All of your gear is where I sleep yknow. A hammock in the storage compartment. I’m going to get curious if I see one slight altercation not to my liking”

“You sound like a perfectionist”

“I have a little bit of OCD, what can I say?” Y/N rolls it off as he was about to question even more before finally biting the bullet.

“If you’re going to stay up like the animal that you are. Can you at least do it in the cockpit with me?” Crosshair bites as Y/N didn’t even say another word as she grabs what she needs gesturing him to lead the obvious way.

He goes over both the good and the bad. In a fair and understandable way. He does also tell us that he is not as big of a fan of Helluva Boss. Not becaus it's bad, and he loves himself some problamtic gays 😏. But, because it's not his kinda of show anymore. And that's fair. Like, I wish more people would just realize that the show isn't for them anymore and move on. Not stay to hate-watch and disturb the fans that DOES love these shows. Learn from this guy 🫵

I don’t think Helluva Boss is above criticism but the haters of the show refuse to accept that people won’t agree with all their opinions and also they have a weird parasocial hatred of a women that doesn’t know them. Like I personally don’t like the Cherubs I genuinely hate that they are such a big part of Full Moon especially because I don’t feel like the plots tied together and them not being relevant for the rest of the season made it pretty unjustified for me and is really wish Via had a bit more screen time prior to Sinsmas to flesh her out a bit more. There I criticized the show and I didn’t get filled with rage or call Vivziepop every type of bigot, I just don’t like a couple decisions but I still like the show and will keep watching, if at any point I don’t like the show anymore I will stop watching. Being critical of what you watch doesn’t mean nitpicking until you hate it.

Exactly! THAT is constructive criticism! Like, I also have my own problems with both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. (I may make a post going over it at some point, who knows) But I am not going to make my whole personality hating on one singel female creator. Like, a lot of these people seem to be much worse human beings than Vivziepop ever was/is. Like, they are just bullies at this point. Not just to Viv, but to anyone who disagrees with them. Cause to them, their word is the law. And they call us a cult, when I swear all antis is some kind of hivemind 😬
