hi!!! I just read about kieran and omfg I love his character and I have so many ideas about this man😭
-what if reader actually straight up tells him they don’t like him romantically?(i love aggressive reader especially with playboys)
-reader having enough of kieran
-kieran finding out that reader is in a relationship
hii oh my gosh thank you so much!! let me know if you want a proper oneshot and i’ll write it for you but these are just some bulletpoints on how i’d think he’d react <3
SCENARIO #1
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ this man will not take no for an answer he will keep trying and trying.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ He’d take it as a joke but would begin screaming crying throwing up once he gets home.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ “Haha, don’t be so harsh~! I know you love playing hard to get cutie!”
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ If you are persistent in your feelings, he’d end up kidnapping you LOL
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ he likes your aggressive behaviour so some part of him likes the chase and you rejecting him consistently.
SCENARIO #2
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ He honestly does not care if you’ve had enough of him.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Although he wants to see you laugh and smile at his jokes he also loves seeing you getting annoyed by his antics
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ in the long run it would hurt him to see you genuinely tired of him and he’d start growing slightly insecure
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ no one would realise though because he wouldn’t change his behaviour
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ again in the long run if he can see you’ve had enough of him he’d probably kidnap you so you can’t move schools or switch classes.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ “It’s okay, you’re already tired of me, so what’s the point in holding any barriers now? Now I don’t have to pretend like you don’t belong to me <3”
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Or he would use some sort of blackmail against you but would portray it as he’s trying to look out for you.
SCENARIO #3
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ he is so SO livid
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ he’s been trying for AGES and you’re in a relationship??
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ Kieran would genuinely would try to ruin your partners life.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ He’d begin to spread nasty rumours about them and make sure they have a bad reputation
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ “Oh (P/N)..?? I heard they cheated on their ex..?? I dunno though someone told me that”
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ He would make sure that no one would link it back to him spreading the rumours. Wouldn’t want you to find out he’s the reason why your partners life is hell now??
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ If you’re still with them, he’d threaten the partner and make sure you won’t find out.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ All in all, if you’re still with them, he’d most definitely end up murdering them.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ It wouldn’t trace back to him because he’s actually incredibly smart and has a social status. He would easily get away with it
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥ He would notice you all depressed in chemistry class and realise it’s his chance to get closer to you.
˚₊· ͟͟͞➳❥“Oh princess…I heard about the news.. I’m so sorry~”

hmmm idk if in actually ginna get to writing abt the bird au courtship thing. so!!! i’ll bulletpoint infodump some idess i have here:)
-preening is actually an act of intimacy for owls— and they’ll need to do that regardless bc it’s not really easy to reach all of one’s feathers when your wings are as ling as you are tall (plus, since stan and ford have owl wings, they’d need to apply a synthetic wing oil so they dont go hypothermic and/or sink if they land in the water)
-ford rubbing noses with stan (mostly when he’s asleep; though he might do it a few timed when they’re awake, too;3)
-stan making sure ford eats, even if he needs to handfeed him himself*
-occasionally, they end up doing mating calls back and forth; hoots n’ stuff:) not often though; and mostly when theyre more aware of the otjer’s feelings
-when they actually know about the toher’s feelings more, they might actually also do the more typical ourting habits (ford doing the bowing with drooped wings, stan making a nest similar to how eurasian eagle owls do, ect)
-i’d imagine that (unless i change my mind and add like. proper abo style dynamics to the au) that in same sex relationships the ‘female’ and ‘male’ in the instincts (for my ease if nothing else; most of the courting behavior articles assume theyre a male/female fairing) will be based off size:) stan’s wings are larger, but ford is the taller one; leading to stan taking up the male role, usually, but they’re close enough in size that it’d probably be switched up pretty often**

Hey, since you're interested in scorpion biology, I thought you'd be interested in the idea of... intersex Chima scorpions! Well, sort of.
There's a specific character that's been bugging me a bit. Scutter is kind of the scorpion equivalent of a centaur; he has two torsos, one anthropomorphic, and another of the scorpion body. With scorpion anatomy in mind, it's easy to reach the conclusion that Scutter's reproductive organ would be heavily altered because of his body, making him intersex to a certain extent.
I hope this makes sense. I'm trying to look for possible trans rep in Chima characters (like in this example). What do you think of this idea?
Oh friend, you don't know the essay you just inspired.
You Opened This Can Of Worms, Now Lie In It
Some important bulletpoints before I get going, just to get all of my followers on the same page:
Disclaimer: I am a transgender nonbinary perisex individual. This means I am not intersexed (to my knowledge), I don't identify with the gender I was assigned at birth, and I don't identify as male or female. The closest thing to describing my gender is literally "no".
I am a strong advocate for making as many characters transgender as possible, regardless of "realism". That's why, in my own writing, half of the Scorpions are retroactively transgender (though they don't understand gender on the whole and most of them would probably be nonbinary if someone took fifteen minutes to explain gender, variable social constructs, and the concept of genitalia tying to gender roles) and also Razar is too on account of I said so.
Being intersexed does not inherently mean being transgender. There is a lot of discussion and individual choice between intersexed people about whether or not they're part of the queer community. It's a very individual thing, and I am not part of those discussions on account of not being intersex myself.
When it comes to humans and other beings with a level of sentience and sapience, the term "hermaphrodite" and its derivates are considered slurs. When talking about animals, hermaphrodite and its derivates are scientific terms. So in something like the Legends of Chima series and other humanoid-animal media, the proper term is "intersexed". (I noticed you used the term "intersex" in your ask, and I appreciate it!)
I know too much about scorpion mating and birth.
We're talking way too much about genitalia and gender tonight in regards to fictional characters.
I am genuinely delighted that you decided to drop in here to discuss this, because boy howdy do I have a lot of thoughts about transgender headcanons/representation and scorpions specifically! Scorpions are just. So damn cool.
Note for my fellow arachnophobes: There are no images attached to this post, but it's really easy to find videos of scorpions doing various things on YouTube, which is actually how I've been studying them.
Scorpion Sex, Mating, and Genitalia
Scorpions of both "genders" have genital opercula (singular: genital operculum), and their asses run up into their tails. In order to mate, they don't just do like horses. No no, buddy, they have a really weird, specific method!
In order to start wooing his potential mate, the male scorpion will lock chelae (pincers) with the female scorpion, and they will start to "dance". The male scorpion will drop a sperm packet onto the ground and lead the female scorpion over it. If the female scorpion is down, she'll basically squat and absorb the sperm packet into her body, which is then followed by a "mating plug" to keep it in while it does the fertilization thing.
(It's important to note that the courting process also contains "juddering", aka the male scorpion doing the dance that the stickbug meme did, and may also contain clerchical "kisses". Honestly, pretty romantic for an arachnid. And possibly tail-rubbing and sexual stinging. Scorpions are very kinky!)
(It's also important to note that some species of scorpions have been reported, though not reliably, to reproduce through parthogenesis.)
Post-coitus cannibalism has not been scientifically seen in scorpions, so the male scorpion is generally safe as long as he scadoodles.
Gestation in some scorpion species can last over a year, and different species can have anywhere from 2 to 100 little scorplings - the physical size of the scorpion is not necessarily tied to how many babies they'll have.
Also, scorpions give live birth!
The baby scorpion is essentially folded like a Fedex package and launched out of the womb. It will then unfold and climb on top of the mother to make way for its next sibling. These will hang onto the mother until their first molt, which happens as a group and launches them into the juvenile stage. After this, they will still stay with their mothers until their carapace finishes hardening and gaining color, at which point they hunt prey on their own and will wander off on their own terms.
Hey, Jasper, That's Pretty Fucked Up, But How Does This Tie Into Chima?
I'm getting there, hold your centaur scorpions!
This is where we get into the worldbuilding of the Legends of Chima series, the Character Encyclopedia, and our poor boy Scutter.
See, the Legends of Chima as a series is very much a product of its time. There is some rife ableism and questionable word choices in regards to the Crawlers (and Sir Fangar, but this isn't about him). According to the Character Encyclopedia, Scutter is "less evolved". There's a looong history of racism in using phrases like "evolution" in regards to other humans, so taking that and applying it to an animal world leaves us with some very strange dissonance, because it's used in Chima to mean animals turned into a more humanoid form by the Chi.
Because really, what is the Chi? It's a magical substance that, depending on how you read it, could be the animist spirit of the land (I say, as an animist myself), or it could be drugs. Or it could be any number of other things! I know one person who writes Chi as the blood of dead gods, which is metal as fuck!
Ultimately, it depends on how one is writing the Chi that makes the usage of phrases like "less evolved" more or less questionable than it was intended. We're all dragging around the corpse of a Lego theme across our writing desks anyway. And the way I go about answering the question of "what is Chi" is definitely different from others. (Again, see the dead god blood part.)
The question of whether or not the Scorpion Tribe, namely Scutter, would count as intersexed relies on 1) defining intersexuality in regards to genitalia arrangement (scorpions don't have penises and vaginas by default; and the Wikipedia article on scorpions just uses "genital orfice" or "genital opercula"); 2) determining if the Chi has magically changed how genitalia works for Scorpions (admittedly, I do this because I didn't want to have to use the term "genital opercula" over and over); 3) determining the humanization extent of the Scorpion Tribe as you write them (I lean more towards human than you do, just from what I've seen of your work); and 4) deciding if such terminology even exists in Chima.
But looking at Scutter and going with the assumption that the back end is fully scorpion... No, I wouldn't count him as intersex by default. Intersex implies landing between the two human biological extremes (which, as we all know, is not as cut-and-dry as high school biology taught us), when really he's kind of a secret third thing (a Scorpion who probably doesn't have either a penis or a vagina).
(Of course, there's also what you said, paraphrased to my own wording: the Chi may have just decided to fuck up this poor man's genital situation and do a half-ass job.)
That's not to say he can't be trans. I mean, I made Scorm and about half of the Scorpion Tribe trans already. That's also not to say they're not all trans by default, considering scorpions without the ability to think wouldn't have the concepts of genders anyway.
Okay Jasper, So How Do You Write Him?
So, here's the thing. I'm aromantic-asexual, and I also write smut and, to a lesser extent, romance, which means I think about fictional character genitalia too much. But thinking about Scutter has left me utterly baffled.
On one hand, I usually write the Chi as a magical animist force of the land of Chima on the whole, and part of that is that the Chi tries to get everyone on the same playing field, physically speaking, which is how we get retroactive transgender man Scorm in my Tales of Chima series.
On the other hand, look at him. Look at him. He's a centaur arachnid. I know he can pass the Harkness Test, but I still feel weird thinking about his genitalia. If I go with my theory of the Chi giving everyone penises and vaginas at random, then I don't want to think about how much that would get in the way for the poor boy! On the other hand, his lower body is still mostly scorpion instead of, well, Scorpion, so who's to say he doesn't have a genital operculum?
Too Long, Don't Want Details About Scorpion Sex
Alright, spoilsport. Here's your TLDR:
It genuinely depends on what the Chi does in your version of the story and how bad it fucks up. It depends on how dedicated you are to scientific accuracy. It depends on how much you want to think about scorpion genitals.
And being intersex is not necessarily trans rep, unless it is, unless it isn't. I'm not intersexed, so I'm not going to say what that falls on myself. There is an intersex pride flag that was created by Morgan Carpenter in 2013.
Trans characters can exist outside of being intersexed, you don't have to conflate the two in order to have transgender representation. Just hit the characters with the Transgenderinator 5000 Beam. Fuck realism, this is a series about walking talking animal people. Who's going to stop you? The fun police? Transphobes? Eat them.
Further Reading
Start at Wikipedia and go from there through its sources for anything of particular interest:
Intersex flag (in case you're curious about it and its history, which can also launch you into further reading about humans being intersex)
Scorpion (morphology section)
Scorpion (mating subsection)
Scorpion (birth and development subsection)
So, uh, yeah! Thanks for coming to me with these questions, it's really touching that you value my thoughts this much, and I love talking about my boys and scorpions and the complicated web! I apologize for any errors or too-crass sections, because I wrote most of this in one sitting after playing wayyy too much Skyrim today.

Idk if I've asked this before but like, really really tall reader x Gaz or soap. One of them idk..be as creative as you want pookie
U absolutely havent pooks dw abt it 😇 im in an absolute gaz brainrot rn so I’m gonna write this w him and maaaaybe add a soap one later 😚
Also ignore how this is bulletpoints my brain doesn’t like me and im eepy 💟
Gaz x Tall! Reader hcs 😚
• Mans is a PROFESSIONAL tree climber idc what anyone says. He could scale your arse in a solid half-second.
• He will attempt to climb you and he will succeed.
• Instinctively tugs at your shirt/arm whenever you’re going under something you might bump your head on.
• In the case he fails to prevent head bumps, he will force you to crouch in front of him so he can smother your poor little head in kisses and massages.
• Obsessed with being little spoon. He just loves being completely surrounded by your snuggly warmth.
• Won’t hesitate to either get on his tiptoes or even full on hop to give you little kisses.
• A bit obsessed with the size difference. He just loves flopping onto your chest or kneading at your hands and just taking in the sheer mountain that you are.
• Definitely demands piggybacks more than often. Expects full on princess treatment. /j
• (Mostly because he loves being pampered and cared for by someone actually bigger than him - and don’t even get me STARTED on if you’re stronger than him.)
• Alternatively, loves picking up/carrying you. Just seeing his stunning giant all shy and curled up in his arms sends him places.
• You’ll have him absolutely melting into you if you just casually stand behind him while he’s going about his day. Yk the whole; hands on their waist, face buried in their neck thing?? That. He’ll have to resist the urge to just drop everything and flop backwards into you.
• Can’t wear your clothes out, seeing as they’re waaaay too big on him, but they will be some of the only things he wears around the house. Casually walks around in a hoodie with a neck hole so big it almost slips down to his waist.
• Makes sure to get almost all of your clothes specially fitted. Can never find proper pants because they’re always too short or too baggy? Yep, you’re never gonna have to worry about that again.
• In absolute love with your legs, especially being buried between them. Not only in a spicy context, he just loves the feeling of being completely wrapped up in you, cuddling at your strong thighs like a koala. <3
• Also loves sitting between your legs without prompting. You’re stood trying to pick a channel? He’s tucked himself right under you. You’re sat doing paperwork? He’s contorted himself under your desk, arms wrapped around your shins and his head on your thigh.
• Will force you to be his weighted blanket on occasions. Usually when he’s had a particularly bad day/night, he’ll forcibly (with prior permission ofc) bury himself under you, revelling in the fact he can just curl up under you and be completely hidden away.
• Definitely teases you. Just a lil bit 😇
• Sometimes when you hug he’ll just loop his arms over your shoulders and sling himself up, wrapping his legs around your waist and claiming his spot.
• Literally FOLDS when you look down at him. Not in the, like, dropping your head to look at him, no, just the unmoving glance down at him.
• A lot of arm kisses. Mostly because it’s the easiest place for him to reach that’s still mildly appropriate (he’s dejectedly banned himself from nip kisses in public /j).
•Often when you’re busy, he’ll just drop himself in your lap and straddle your hips/thighs, tucking his face into your neck and snuggling up with his favourite person <33

2024 Grimoire Challenge Review - January Week 1
Well, I had to wait until Wednesday to get out of the house and get a binder and some paper for my challenge grimoire this year, so I basically speedran all of the December prep and the first week of January, because I will never learn and never improve on this habit of mine.
Keeping in line with other grimoires I've used in the past (such as the Epsilon Ledger and the Delta Book of Tarot Spreads), this red binder has been named the Eta Binder. I wrote down my proper name (let's go, trans mages!), tacked @2024-grimoire-challenge onto it to remind myself that that's what we're doing, and gave it a date of working. Since I started on Wednesday, that's 1/3/2024 (because I'm an American) to an unknown end date.
I had to scramble to come up with a list of 52 plants and stones to work on. I just went through the list of herbs and teas offered by my local ("local" being half an hour away) spice shop and capped it off with some Missouri flowers. For the stones, I just flipped through Judy Hall's Crystal Bible (somehow both a really good and really bad reference book) back and forth a bunch of times until I had a list of crystals I hadn't already done dives about.
As for my magical study ideas, I mostly just threw shit down that I've been interested in or have just gotten interested in. I gave each deity I worship their own bulletpoint and also split up the specific areas of pop culture magic I'm digging more into. I made sure there was a blend of comfortable old stuff, brand new stuff that I'm not sure of, and things that are generally outside of my purview.
Through the power of "work had too many 3-ring binder dividers", I have split my binder into seven sections - 1 is Plants, 2 is Stones, 3 is Work-Related Notes, 4 is Spells Designed (if I complete any, they'll be moved into my spell binder that also houses all of my correspondence lists), 5 if Journal, 6 is currently blank, and 7 is Empty Pages.
Then I finally got started on the actual projects. For the plant and crystal prompts this week, I used an integer generator online to choose two numbers randomly and received caraway (aka Carum carvi) and muscovite (aka KAl2(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2), so I used my normal research process for the two. It was actually pretty fun, if you ignore the fact that my hand hurt so much because it ended up being 4 pages (well, 2 pages but front and back) EACH of information drawn from books and digital sources that I was all but copying word for word.
As for the Work-Related Notes, that's where I've saved things like my Definitions page, Spellwriting 101 (in my practice), and a page about my Common Tools.
I will admit that I skipped the year outline, mostly because the passing of the year means near nothing in my craft. I don't celebrate any particular "magical holidays", I don't work by the moon cycle, I'm definitely not Wiccan and thus don't celebrate the Wheel of the Year, seasons just mean whether or not I have to wear a coat, and I don't care about matching particular workings to days of the week. I'm starting to think I'm just a deeply boring person, upon reflection.
Then we get to the Work Spaces / Altars page, and oh boy! I don't actually do...workings at my altars, so they're probably better described as shrines. I have my Primary Work Space (my wooden desk, the metal microwave stand I've stolen from somewhere, and the tiny red bookshelf under the microwave stand) that is an absolute MESS at every given point that holds whatever the fuck I'm working on, regardless of what project it is. I have a Thoughtform & Spirit Shelf (which is actually a partial shelf) in my big red bookshelf that holds the anchors for my thoughtforms but also my PokeFamiliar. I have five altars around my room that are currently holding seven deities, a candle for an eighth deity, the Lokifam, three spirits, the Unknown Benefactor, the symbol of an animal spirit I want to reach out to at some point this year, and Jasper's Casper (an adorable little ghost that my coworker and her daughter crocheted for me to celebrate the first anniversary of me working at the library).
Shit's a bit cramped in here!
And today, I'm writing about my Personal Practices that have made it into my craft. I'm actually working on this now, but I paused to write up this summary. It's pretty neat to think about all the stuff I've done that I still do.
Results: My hand hurts and my head is throbbing, but c'est la vie. This is a really fun challenge, and I hope it goes all the way through 2024, unlike when I tried to do the 2023 challenge and the host of that one vanished into the aether.

Your thoughts on Chenford and their relationship moving forward?
Thoughts on 5.13?
i’m having a bad time lol
i’ve been ranting and raving about this in detail for the better part of two months so i’ll try to keep this to bulletpoints. i think the way they got together was rushed (yes, rushed), poorly written, and i think they cut the burn off before the part a LOT of people waited so long for (angst, pining, arc, plot whatsoever) i think it was a bonkers decision to get such a well set up ship together in the midseason bc they were just like “eh fuck it here is good” and i have no beef with people who are satisfied with how it went down but i think when people who are disappointed express their gripes on their own damn account, people tend to purposely misunderstand. examples include “how can chenford be rushed if they took 4.5 seasons to get together?” to which i’d answer a. we are not saying chenford is rushed we’re saying the way they got together was rushed. b. it’s funny to me how people think that investing years of time and effort and heart to a ship should make us LESS invested in how they get together. c. bruh i’m asking myself the same question it’s actually kinda impressive that they managed to rush a ship after that long.
as for the story going forward, i’ve kinda lost hope in 5b at least. it’s beautiful to see them so enamored with each other and i will watch the scenes and smile at them bc they are adorable in a vacuum but as for the big picture, i find the writing overall to be quite dumb lately. i find it dumb that their biggest boundary to being together was work and they solved that in one episode in the most boring way they could muster. i find it dumb that it seems like we did not get to see the team find out they’re together. i find it dumb that we were given no reason for them “taking it slow” and then giving in after a couple weeks even though that pre sex makeout was hot as hell ngl (see what i mean?? in a vacuum!!) i find many many things dumb and weird and even though the scenes give me buzz, chenford used to have chem and story for me and tho the chem remains higher than it’s ever been, the story has, in my opinion, been shot in the face.
last week with the work thing was kinda my last straw so i am taking a break from the rookie and watching the chenford scenes on twitter bc i was getting way way too hateful watching week to week. i’d rather be a positive presence in a fandom im in so i don’t go out of my way to stare my displeasure publicly, i only do to reach out to other people who feel the way i do and want to vent bc nothing starts internet friendships like a good bitching session. i do feel like because the relationship is hitting the gas like this, we might??? be on our way to the other shoe dropping and me personally………. my prayer is a breakup lol i’m hoping they break up and then we’re actually given some proper angst and pining (even though i think we should’ve gotten that BEFORE they went canon but what do i know) now… i don’t know what they would break up over with the work issue out of the way and it would probably be something, say it with me, DUMB, but i would be willing to consider tuning in again if my trust miraculously grew back lol so YEAH those are my thoughts.
if you’re happy with how they got together, i truly honestly do not care and i’m happy you’re satisfied lol at a certain point it all comes down to personal preference, and for me personally, it feels like they went out of their way to miss every box on my checklist which is a bummer bc i used to love literally every scene interaction and bit of writing between them and now… not so much. i still love them, and i love the first four seasons, i just think the writing took a huge ass stumble at the literal worst time possible. but it would take a stronger person than i to turn my nose up at gifs of the 5x12 makeout so if absolutely nothing else, at least i’ll always have that 🤡🤡

My Theory on Episode 67 (part 2)
Some parts will be detailed. But most of this is just bulletpoints since I'm eepy
Spoilers below!
Opens up on TCam lunging in on Scientist with his saw hand
•Scientist is hurt but manages to whack TCam off with a claw
•TSpeak trys to fly in and shoot the Scientist, but the Scientist reveals a secret magnetic ability (like TCams hand) on some of his claws and draws TSpeak in, then he uses another claw to do catastrophic damage and rip both of TSpeaks two shoulder speakers off in one foul stab
•TSpeak lets out a droning noise and has to evacuate
•TCam shakes with anger and gets ready to advance when he's suddenly interrupted
•No one can see anything because the whole land is filled in black smog, and a white glow is coming from somewhere within it
•It fades away, and TTV is revealed to be standing there, staring right at the Scientist
•Scientist thought he could just pick off the remains of TCam himself and prepared no trap or backup, so he panics seeing TTV and turns around trying to teleport away
•Scientist's black smog begins to form but TTV merely raises a hand and suddenly lurches it back towards himself, and the smog draws towards his hand and away from Scientist
•Sci is slowly pulled back and his eyepiece (What I believe to be his teleporting mechanism) is ripped off his face, and he lets out a bellow of pain
•TTV catches it and hands it to TCam so he can use it. TCam attatches it to his lens and it fits well. TTV says ".toidi ,dexif teg oG" and TCam teleports back to camera base.
•Scientist at first looks enraged, but then he remembers the situation he's in and tries to scuttle away on his spider legs
•TTV releases his arm anchors and pulls him back
•Scientist is screaming, however TTV has him in a headlock and turns on THX to stun Scientist
•While he's stunned, TTV rips sci's claws off and stabs them into the scientists remaining eye
•Cinemaman dismantles the speakers Sci stole off him and says ".enim erew eseht eveileb I"
•Cinemaman stuff the speakers into the scientists mouth like TCam did with missiles in one mutant toilets mouth
•Cinemaman uses his radiation on the Scientists and the speakers in his mouth make the loud THX sound, which combined completely obliterates the scientist
•The Scientist and the toilet that holds him shatters to pieces from the pressure
•Cinemaman makes a " >:) " face and teleports off to find the g-toilet
•The episode ends
Lemme know what yall think! If people actually want to see more of my bad writing, I can link some skib writing I'm working in AND I can write a proper-ass description of this and not just bulletpoints

ao3 wrapped [writers edition] how about 10,11,29, or 30?
10. What work was the quickest to write?
It was either closure or the lack thereof, which I technically wrote 2 drafts of and posted over a weekend but I did have that idea kicking around since 2021, so from concept to post it was probably either with teeth we've come this far or I feel like I'm borrowing all my time, because I came up with the ideas for whumptober and finished them. All the others existed as idea bulletpoints or little jotted down paragraphs before Sept 1 but those two were completely contained.
11. What work took you the longest to write?
While the dark ocean duology did take me all summer after I'd initially thought it would take a couple weeks tops, the winner has to be the first chapter of omens and all kinds of signs which was at 60% done for 2 years. I honestly don't know that I would have finished it if I hadn't decided to post it serially, so yeah little plug for writing serially. It was really just to get back on the horse after having an off year last year.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
I really like this bit where Greez is like 'wtf' in 'I feel like I'm borrowing all my time':
This all feels like an overwhelming, insurmountable task. Greez wishes he hadn’t been chosen for it. He knows how important it is, wants desperately to find the kid before he can be hurt, but it really feels beyond him. He misses the Mantis, misses the rest of the crew, even the little droid and the stowaway bogling. He misses feeling like he understands his place in the universe. His mind struggles to keep up with how long it’s been. A couple of hours? Days? Five years but wound in reverse? He knows it shouldn’t feel like five years, but it kind of does. It feels like the warmth and safety of home is something he lost long ago, or perhaps never had. Now that Cal’s missing from his proper place, it all feels like none of it ever actually happened. It both exists in his memory and doesn’t, like a distant dream. Greez shivers. All of this is very, very wrong. Cere is staring at the fire again, an inscrutable look on her face. Greez decides to fill the silence with: “I guess we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” Cere whirls on him abruptly. “Of course we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” “I just mean that…” Greez swallows. It’s started raining harder, raising more steam and smoke from the fires. The smoke makes his eyes sting. Cere waits for an explanation, brow furrowed. “Don’t we have to avoid…I just mean…you shouldn’t meet yourself, right? That’s one of the rules of this sort of thing, isn’t it? At least, it was in the cheesy dramas my grandmother was always watching…” “Oh.” Cere turns back to the fire. “I hadn’t considered that.”
Apologies for the length of it but I like it both for the 1) 'it shouldn't feel like five years but it does' bit, just leaning into time travel being WEIRD. Also I think I slipped up a couple times responding to comments and referred to 'timelines' but as best I can come up with for fitting time travel into SW worldbuilding....there are no alternate timelines really. Because time isn't really...real. So Greez is right, once things have started changing, they change in the future as well so it all both does and doesn't exist at the same time...idk if I ever went further on the time travel concept it would be along these lines, rather than having distinct alternate timelines.
2) the very human moment of filling an awkward silence with the exact wrong thing. XD It's such a little thing but I ended up LOVING the "Greez decided to fill the silence with" dialogue tag. XD
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
I'm going to answer this one with a screenshot of my ideas list I found while cleaning it up this weekend:
Tumblr media
I don't want to sound like too much of a curmudgeon (though the ship has probably said on that one)*, but I can't stress enough how surprising it was that one of my biggest 'nope, would never write' became one of my favorite fics of the year. Now I feel like I can't said I'd never write something. Growth?
(*and just to stress, like...for me writing/reading, don't take this personally. I use the exclude tags but please don't take this as like a judgement, I just have never really liked them and got a bit grumpy about just how popular they were when I came back to reading Star Wars fic a couple years ago)

Bestieee
Sneaky question 🤭
How's the series going?
Bestie don’t 😭 bc of everything going on I had to abandon it a little but I started chapter 4 yesterday and since it’s all in bulletpoints already I „just“ need to put it into proper sentences 🤭
Technically it’s going great cause it’s all mapped out, practically I need to find the time to actually write it 🫣

oh my god ok so i have LONG desired to somehow do the thing that a lot of artists do where they redraw a thing they drew before to like, compare their craft progress.
I HAVE FIGURED OUT A FIC FOR IT! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAA hahaha perhaps this will prove to be the death of me lol but i reread i wish you the wind today and i wanted ... more pining! slower and more painful stomachachey resolution! kakeru's response to literally anything haiji reveals in the last scene! actual quotes from the book of poetry that is referenced twenty million times in the fic!
anyway i have like twelve bulletpoints about where this could go. i haven't written ... romance-focused fic in like, years maybe, not like a proper "they are in love and that is the main plot of this thing" fic so i am a liiiiittle rusty but ough ..... 2024 .... it could happen in that year ......!!
the other thing that will be interesting to compare is the process — i keep a pretty detailed writing-specific journal each year so as i'm working on what i guess is really just One Big Revision of i wish you the wind, i'll be very very interested to see how things (my thinking, mostly) have shifted since jan 2023.

what i think ppl dont understand abt canon events is how literally actually genuinely bullshit they are (... and how much that is said in the film itself-_-) & how obvious it is that miguel is trying so hard to find a reason why the universe he shifted to broke apart so he can feel better abt it. its a real interesting parallel to kingpins motivation in the first movie, chasing after a fixed happy ending where there is none. trying to find a reason/solution and *fix* it. canon events could literally be *anything* from spider-mans original run! its meaningless how much he simplified it! he turned very real aspects of these peoples lives into bulletpoints, including his own! i just dont understand how ppl dont get it especially with the meta-text??
at the core of his current character, spiderverse miguel is still wrestling for money, taking advantage of his power for personal gain, he is not spider-man yet. no matter what has happened to him in the past, he has not allowed himself to be a hero proper. theres a conscious choice there. thats the only constant

Dragon AU? :3 (for the wip folder game)
Answered Here farther under the cut, so I'll copy paste it here too:
Dragon AU
hehe this is probably my kinkiest one lol. CW noncon, eggpreg, mentions of disordered eating, vibes of incest
The overall World Lore/setup changes the most in this one too. There is a kingdom of dragons conquering the world, and Kevin's regiment is fighting them directly, with more help from the crown than they ever get in canon (they're like an even further reaching Scout regiment in this one honestly. Really flattens that aspect. Good thing that part's not the focus in this one)
In one battle, Kevin catches the eye of a dragon general, and is captured as a gift to that general's lord. Cue defiant sex slave tropes. Cue several escape attempts and subsequent punishments. Cue slowly breaking down the pet through pain and drugs and brute force until he actually starts to let it all happen.
And then let him get rescued.
But of course, it can't be that easy. Not if we can't fit some ~Eggpreg~ in there.
Once Kevin starts actually submitting, Lord Aloskos uses him as an incubator, you know the drill. There's some dragon magic to handwave some of the practicality issues. The main difference between my take on the trope and most of what I've seen is I don't really care for the oversized belly aspect? Just doesn't do it for me ig. This is Plot Relevant though because it means he's rescued while eggnant and has to figure out how to Tell Julian that the reason he's been Sick since rescue is he has a clutch of their enemy's children in him, and that he brought them into the center of a magically protected region. And also he wants to keep them.
Cue Wary But Supportive Julian. Cue Magically Breastified Cis Male Kevin. Cue Growing Up Montage with light child soldier vibes for about 6 hatchlings.
But of course, we can't just Let It End There. Aloskos Returns, and lays seige. Breaks through the barrier, lays waste to the city. Kevin tries to give himself up to end it, and ultimately it works. But Julian is captured too, as well as the hatchlings. Most of the hatchlings are sent away and our cast is reduced to Kevin, Julian, Aloskos, and Ciarán the eldest hatchling. Quinn is introduced at some point in this arc.
I'm going to jump to what's probably the most kinky and get to the ~Incest Kink~. Kevin and Ciarán view themselves as dad and son, even if there's no actual genetic material between them. Aloskos wants to break down that connection as much as he can, so when Ciarán becomes Of That Age, Kevin is given to him as his only Outlet. And, well, it certainly does something to their abilities to compartmentalize.
Eventually, Julian is given to Ciarán, which is a blessing and a curse for everyone. This path isn't free of the Incest Vibes because while Julian never called himself any kind of Proper Family to the hatchlings, he still helped raise them, and still views them as Children Under His Care (though at this point they are teenagers at least)
Other captivity shenanigans happen. Hired human guard Quinn tells kevin off for eating outside of the servant's quarters which is the first domino spiral in a Disordered Eating arc that lasts the rest of captivity and into recovery. Aloskos burns new magical brands onto Kevin such as the Spell To Make Him Sing, which only accomplishes Kevin making every effort to Not Speak A Word Or Make A Sound Under Any Circumstances, and a spell to Knock Kevin Out Whenever He Wants.
All of this puts Kevin into so much distress that Ciarán finally stands up to Aloskos and kills him, taking his Father's titles and land and armies for himself, and kickstarting the Recovery Arc Proper.
I don't really have any specific WIP snippets for this one written, everything that's more than bulletpoints or daydreams is up on tumblr. You might be interested in this recovery arc piece about the collar?

Netflix's Avatar The Last Airbender thoughts part 1/5)
so... atla live action, huh. after finishing season 1, here are my thoughts in bulletpoint format; it's very long and most of it is spoiler-y, so it's under a cut. (and also in 4 more posts after this). fun fact i spent most of my day writing this, clearly ATLA is very important to me
my general opinion is pretty much "not as bad an adaptation as it could've been but not all that much to see here, on its own OR as an ATLA adaptation"
this is also obviously biased, i'm watching as someone who adores the OG ATLA, but in my comparisons, i'm trying my best to stay away from "they didn't did it the same way = bad" and compare the two in their intentions and execution in what they were trying to do and how they made me feel, but i may fail at that here and there because i have strong feelings.
visuals: this is the easy thing to praise; other than the nighttime scenes, the visuals are pretty well done. i mean... it's a lot of cgi, and it looks like cgi. but, well, i haven't seen big panning shots of fantasy cities done irl since LotR, and i'd be proper shocked if we ever saw them being done again. i thought the cgi was alright, the big shots of the cities were pretty. i really liked the bending as well, it had impact, both the moves and the visual effects of it were reminiscent of the animated show. also also, they did the thing!!! in the siege of the north!!! with the fish and the red and the blue and Yue's eyes!!!! yes yes. made me very happy.
tone: as expected, they went for a darker tone; it's the same fallacy as it always is: making something sadder, edgier and more brutal doesn't actually make it more grown-up. we all know how this one goes, and NATLA is no exception. it's a shame, since one of the greatest strengths of ATLA was that it could maintain a balance of being silly, heartwarming, tragic and epic at the same time. this show does have some great moments of levity, and there is definitely a heart that shines through, despite this being a lot heavier in tone, but it's not quite as well balanced as the OG
starting on "100 years ago": while i'm of the opinion that we didn't really need to see any of this, i think it could've been a great choice if used in the right ways; that is to show how Aang's life used to be joyful and carefree, by showing him having fun with other kids instead of being very much either alone or with Gyatso. as it stands i think they focused a little too much on showing the war itself as opposed to Aang and the airbenders
battle of the air temple: i liked the whole "comet festival" idea - i think it's a good way to explain how basically nobody escaped the genocide. i know the comics also give a good explanation, i'm frankly okay with either. the one thing i didn't love about the battle is what i usually don't love about battle scenes these days, even though it's a small thing: in the beginning we're only shown the airbenders winning and then it's suddenly flipped and it's only the firebenders winning. i wish more battle scenes showed changing odds, like we see both sides winning encounters up to a point and then it starts becoming obvious who's faring better. it's a small point but it would've made the battle far more interesting. it is also a questionable decision to make it a battle specifically, even though we know the air nomads were peaceful people - if Aang is to serve as an example, perhaps to the point of fault. however, this didn't bother me as much as i've seen it bother some other people
Gyatso: i loved him. we saw more of him now than we have before, and i thought he stayed very true to who he was shown to be in the original series. i adored his interactions with Aang. the spirit world stuff was sort of a cop-out; i think i wouldn't have minded it as much if it happened later, but part of the tragedy of what happened during the comet is that Aang doesn't get to talk to anyone he lost, he doesn't get to be told that he's done nothing wrong and be forgiven, he has to forgive himself and process his guilt without being able to talk to the people he's "let down". regardless, Gyatso was a very good mentor figure and the show does a good job of showing just how tragic his loss is to Aang
"we want GoT fans to like this": watching some of the scenes in this first section is ringing "we want fans of game of thrones to enjoy this show" bells, i mean i generally don't mind graphic violence much, i just don't super vibe with it in an ATLA adaptation, and they hold no punches here. also it's so. fucking. dark. in the sense of lighting? hello??? can i see the show i'm trying to watch??? pls??? i lowered the blinds and put my monitor on max brightness and i could still barely see details in nighttime scenes, throughout the whole show. very GoT, good job /s
animal companions: Momo is still nightmare fuel. i'm sorry. he's not cute, he's TERRIFYING. and seeing how he's barely in any scenes, at this point they could've just left him out and spare us the nightmares. tbh Appa has the same problem, but Appa looks much less like a sleep paralysis demon and has more cute moments, even though he's criminally underused.
acting: i'm pretty happy with everyone. i'm not saying they're all putting forth the performances of their lives, but they're all serviceable, i see problems in performance as being more in the exact script and direction than what the actors are doing. my favourite by far though is Ian Ousley's Sokka. very well done young sir, good job!
Sukka: i really enjoy 99% of Sokka and Suki's scenes together, they have a good chemistry, they're both so awkward and clearly have no idea how to talk to each other. however, i hate the little interaction where Sokka is cleaning himself up and Suki is like... creeping on him, idk, that one felt uncomfortable. every time i see a scene like this i kind of consider hey, what would people be saying if the gender roles were reversed? well we all know that. anyway, other than that, i loved watching their awkward teen mutual crush. i also loved watching them fight together against the fire nation soldiers. i actually thought they had more chemistry here than they did in the Kyoshi Island episode in the OG show, i always felt that Suki's interest came out of nowhere at the end of the episode in ATLA, and that they only really hit it off from book 2 onward
the state of the world: i like that there is more of a distrust of strangers in this adaptation - these are people who've lived their entire lives in a war-torn world, used to danger closing in from all sides, they'd be suspicious of any outsiders, and a lot of them would be vary, similar to Suki's mom, to the danger that harbouring the Avatar could bring. i also like how they used the situation to emphasize how Aang is pretty much the only person left who knows what it's like to live in a unified, peaceful world, where people travel and know other cultures

My notes for that wretched multi-fic MCU series keeps on growing even though I don’t have the time or energy or task management necessary to actually write it, and this is a problem.
