Larys does what no one has done for Aegon: he's teaching him. he tells him the harsh truth, which hurts. Otto and Alicent did it too. but the difference is that Larys also demonstrates to Aegon that he is not alone in his path and he will have his support, he is here to help, not harm. He doesn't look at him as useless, even when he's lying in bed unable to move. he sees potential in Aegon - a combination of the ability to listen and the desire to return what is due - which is why he gives him a weapon "your mind is all that remains to you", rather than a finished result.

Larys can manipulate, using his own experience and genuine pain, and sympathize with Aegon's situation at the same time, these are not mutually exclusive things, especially when Aegon showed him his respect by giving him a position on the council ("i should be glad of your talents") and when their fruitful cooperation will bring victory to both of them. Aegon will become Larys' greatest creation if Larys continues to teach him inner restraint and cunning.

it feels weird to frame Ashton's current drive as wanting to be The Most Special and Chosen with this implication that he's being selfish or entitled with what he wants. Ashton, who can count the really good days in their life on their hands, who's been in constant pain for god knows how long. Ashton, a blank slate, deprived even of the meaning that comes from a history and identity. Ashton, deemed so worthless that even a group that called themselves the Nobodies abandoned him.

Ashton was not full and asking to feast; he was starving and asking to be fed. They weren't begging the gods to make them a champion and hand them a spell list, they just wanted someone to pick them up when they fell down for the first time in their life. instead, the gods (in any shape or form he could recognize) left him alone until the moment he become a problem for them.

of course he resents them. and of course he's grasping on to the first answers he's found, the first indication that he's ever mattered. it's fascinating to watch Ashton try to feel empowered by their world-altering burden instead of overwhelmed, and make decisions they'll think were fucking stupid in 20 episodes, and just overall try and tie his disparate parts together into one functioning whole, even if he's not really succeeding. especially if he's not really succeeding! we're not watching Ashton fly too close to the sun, asking for too much and getting burnt. we're watching them trying, clumsily and haphazardly, to pick up their broken pieces and create themselves anew.

my interp of hugo's personality is honestly probably different than the common fandom interpretation that already exists of him. at least i think it might be? i don't dislike it or anything i just have my own hcs and POV abt the characters

kay and anna mentioned tht at first his and varians dynamic is like lampwick and pinocchio so i interp it as hugo seeing himself as this big shot and always trying to like pal with varian and show him how cool he is rather than antagonize him or Tell him hes cool and varian genuinely thinks he is until the betrayal scene. because we r meant to believe that hugo and varian genuinely like and enjoy each other's company even despite hugo being not the most trustworthy guy and i just find it more believable for this to be the case if hugo isnt actively pushing everyone's buttons or bragging. just my onion

I wish I could pretend I just didn’t hear IRL someone blatantly say that “Lando got the victory stolen away”, that “of course the safety car took some time to come out during the first crash but not for the second one” (so to purposely handicap Lando and to benefit Max) and that “they should just hand the victory to Max at this point”. It made me roll my eyes so hard I think they reach the other side of the planet.
