Serpo Arc pt.3/3 (+ my opinion)
Part 1: Episode 8/Chapter 18-20
Part 2: Episode 9/Chapter 21-25.1
Part 3: Episode 10/Chapter 25.2-27 (review)
So finally!!!!
I just watched the latest episode firsthand while it is streaming!!!
Honest reaction: Pretty much a decent episode, I was most impressed with Queen-sensei because! SHE IS SO COOL!!!!!! Like, this must be everyone's dream mama 😚😉😏
Bruh, like, if there is a teacher gonna defend you over some bullies like Queen-sensei, isn't that the best?!
Her tag's image is so damn cool, like, who pose like that. That's why she's the QUEEN!!!!
First time! A school nurse is more powerful than a normal teacher
It's kinda a shame that, I wish the anime version of her can be better than this... The manga made her look so cool and sexy~
I also really like how Momokarun is becoming more and more canon~
Firstly, Okarun's over-extremely hype of aliens, drawing and analysing how serious the case is! Look how much effort he put into!
And we can't forget how the girls being dum dum :))) And Okarun goes along with it :)
Secondly, they have a "private" conversation about the misunderstanding
Look how much our boy is blushing~~~
"I'm a guy after all. I want you to think I'm a cool guy."
Everything was being cutie and all, and then Momo's friends butt in, and they are being seriously hilarious kekeke. Overreacting and daydreaming of Momo, Okarun & Aira's realtionship.
But part of it is true! And I'm impressed!
Dunno why the duo were being asked like they are in the police station digging up info or sth :)))
Next, I really like how Aira stand up to Momo and confess her wrongdoings: making fun of her, spreading bad rumors.
And SPOILERS: They later become good friends in the manga!
Aside from Mr. Mantis Shrimp alien's story, this must be what you like best, huh (this scene in trailer)
Aliens are real, guys :)))
And lastly, this is all you've been waiting for: A new character!!!
Welcome, Enjoji Jin! And that is the start of the upcoming arc, The Evil Eye Arc
I love his voice!! So charming :))) (but i guess ya know what happens next in manga, huh) (SPOILERS: My Chapter 30)
Welp, bad news for Okarun/ Takakura Ken :")))

A thought I've been rolling around in my head;
We've seen Momo show a number of psychic powers (Telekinesis, Aura sensing, and spirit channeling) instead of being locked into a single form of psychic abilities, and it's implied she still has more powers to unlock. So what if one of her untapped abilities is Precognition- the ability to see into the future?
And as we saw with Aira in the Acrobatic Silky arc, children are often more in tune with the spiritual world than adults are, but tend to lose that connection as they get older. So what if, as a child, Momo heard the name Ken Takakura and her powers picked up on the fact that that was the name of the person she would one day fall in love with, but being so young she internalized that as a crush on a famous actor?

I really like the implication that despite her reluctance on the matter,
Aira is the one who can best match Evil Eye in a fight
at least prior to Okarun’s training arc.
While Aira is lacking in raw strength and spiritual energy, she makes up for it with exceptional technique. Close combat fighting is like dancing, and that’s where she excels. She’s already capable of following EE’s 4-beat rhythm from the start.
We can see this demonstrated even before the music room training. During one of his transformations at Momo’s house, Aira's shown to be the most effective in holding EE back ‘till the hot water is ready.
I think that’s partly why she’s so cavalier about letting EE out in later arcs. I don’t think it’s just her being selfish or rash - some part of her must be thinking ‘I can take him!'
But, I also think there’s a level of trust to it as well.
Trust in herself to keep him in check, trust in Jiji’s ability to restrain him, and trust in the Evil Eye himself to be more than a just vengeful embodiment of human rage and suffering. She's gotten comfortable with him by this point in the story after all - enough to scold and kick him just as she would Jiji and the others.
Speaking of matching, there's also thematic connections to consider.
Aira’s abilities come from Acrobatic Silky, a poor ballet dancer turned urban legend after meeting a tragic fate. AcroSilky's fondest memories are of when she would dance and play with her child, whom she yearned to see even after death.
When the Evil Eye was a living child, his greatest wish was to dance and play with someone as well. That got twisted up after centuries of watching other children suffer like he did - but just as AcroSilky sought out Aira in want of her child, Evil Eye's core desire is still there.
So I think it would be very nice if these two shared a one-on-one dance at some point... even if it's under the guise of play-fighting ^^;;

as the child of a poor, single mother, the acrobatic silky arc is very dear to me. I can see a lot of my mom in the hard working, loving woman that silky was. it's so touching to me that it seems to resonate with everyone else regardless of background

Tell me your favorite parts please! And characters if you don't mind?
Well I've read the manga up to the latest chapter and lemme just say
Me genuinely trying to make friends when I am traveling with new people. I am being genuine. One time I actually went to a bar with friends, drank nothing, ate cheesesticks and told my friend about Mothman. This true and a real story. I was so overstimulated with how out of place I felt and I was like 'LET ME DO THE ONE THING I KNOW HOW TO DO BEST. DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MOTHMAN'S THICC ASS STATUE?'
I also love the 'DONT RUN IN THE HALLS' bit
Something about that is just so REAL to the highschooler experience. Shrodinger rules-if the teacher does not perceive you, you can do whatever you want.
One of my favorite characters rn is the new one, Kouki, the gloomy girl who has a horde of little pikmin gnomes following her around
I also love the sentient anatomical model who is in love with a female anatomical model that got tossed out and he's like 'I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON MY GF I LOVE HER'
Also I cannot wait for the Evil Eye arc to get animated cause like. Up there with Acrobatic Silkie-People will be in the STREETS sobbing
TFW the unmedicated adhd kicks on during class.
Also controversial opinon, Sakata is a good character, he's very interesting, he's not just 'perv character number 12' he's just quite literally a weird akward guy who also doesn't know how to make friends much like everyone else in this manga. Everyone here has no clue how to make friends and they don't help by constantly talking about golden balls in front of other people.
Also, none of ya'll ready for the Kaiju fight arc. NOBODY.

Dandadan Episode 10 Review - Lending A Helping Hand
I normally watch Dandadan subbed, but this is the first time I watched an episode dubbed. The reason why I watched it dubbed was because I was too lazy to change the audio. Regardless, the dub is actually good. Like, dubs can be hit or miss, but Dandadan’s dub is one of the rare good ones where no one underperforms. I totally recommend it as a sub watcher.
Anyways, it’s back to the daily lives of our three dweebs, but they get sent to the nurse’s office because she’s concerned about the incident that had transpired last episode (about them getting naked). She thinks they’re being bullied and while it’s not the case, the girls are mostly worried about how they’ll be perceived at school. While Momo particularly doesn’t care, she still is embarrassed about what happened while Aira is concerned about her popularity. The scenes of them in the school clinic was hilarious though with the school nurse, Queen-sensei, being a dominatrix and Okarun explaining to Momo and Aira about why they’re being targeted by aliens. I think he raises a good point and I believe such is the reason why the aliens were after Okarun. I think the part where Momo’s friends were deducing why they were naked and concluded that it was due to naked gladiator play was hilarious. The expression on Okarun and Momo’s faces are priceless.
Though, it was nice that Aira decided to admit her part in the rumors she made about Momo, even if it did cost her popularity. Like, girl, if they just abandoned you like that then they weren’t real friends. While her bond with Momo does get a tad closer, they still have a vitriolic relationship full of bickering. I love that smug face Aira makes. Seriously, I think she’s the funniest character in this show.
Mantis Shrimp turns out to be a good alien person as he was only on the enemy’s side because he needed money to pay for his son’s treatment. His son Chiquitita has a rare, unusual disease in his world and treatment is very expensive. I’m glad that the group gave him a second chance. Okarun was willing to give away his balls if it meant it could pay for the bills. It turns out that the blood transfusion his son needs is equivalent to cow’s milk. The whole cow abduction scene was cool and all, but how will the cow survive in a foreign planet? How can it breed?
Also, the post-battle meals are interesting. Why do I feel as if they’re picked based on the major enemy they battle against? Episode 4 had the group eat crab legs due to the location-based spirit being a crab. In Episode 8, the group was chowing down on somen. If you’re not sure what somen is, it’s a type of noodle that’s very thin; it’s made by stretching the dough out and slicing it into thin pieces—sort of like how Acrobatic Silky’s hair stretches out. For this episode, the group eat sushi. In the last episode, the group dealt with aliens and Nessie in an underwater battle, so the seafood setting fits. Also, shrimp is a common topping on sushi, so it fits in a way—if Mantis Shrimp eats a shrimp, would that be cannibalism? Also, Seiko is justified in kicking Mantis Shrimp for eating the tuna because tuna is expensive! The cut of tuna used in sushi and sashimi are super expensive! I get why she would get mad.
This entire episode was comedy central, but with the introduction of Jiji, Momo’s first crush, things could start getting a little rocky. Heck, a new character means a new arc will begin. What’s Jiji’s deal and why is he staying at the Ayase household? I can’t wait to find out next week. What are your thoughts on this episode?

DANDADAN??!?!? OMFG?!!?!!?
Sooo interested in how nudity and intimacy are explored in this series!!! Like in the serpo arc … momos practicality/battle sense when taking off hee clothes vs her getting forcibly stripped in ep 1 ….. like how through connection and communication they are literally better able to navigate sex better … and that moment when they’re lying on top of each other giggling and unashamed at the end of the arc — felt similar to an afterglow… rly refreshing to see depictions of intimacy between young ppl in a way that, idk despite all its nudity and sexuality, didn’t feel exploitative
sex is treated with the same weight and silliness that eating is if that makes sense … thinking about how they are eating somen which is so similar to hair in texture … literally digesting what just happened with acrobat silky …. But the episode is so silly …

Right before reading the Danmara arc of DanDaDan, I was going through a rough patch of feeling pessimistic about life and seeing the world as a disgusting place full of pain and horrible people, and it felt like every little thing felt extremely negative to me. So seeing Unji, who was feeling like that but a thousand times worse, and who has way more reason to hate the world than I ever have, find a way to turn his life around, was really inspiring to me.
I’ve also just been struggling with my emotions in general lately, even in regard to fiction. I used to love dark fiction and its ability to make people feel. But recently I got so swept up in my emotions and negativity that everything negative in media would make me think of bad things in real life. The Acrobatic Silky episode of the anime made me sob so badly as if my mother died, or as if I was the mother of the child who died. I wanted it to make me feel, but not like that. I want to be able to enjoy media. A day or two before reading the Danmara arc, I made a conscious decision to try to get myself to enjoy dark media like Berserk again. To remind myself that these things aren’t real and that I’m able to enjoy fiction and the power it has. And then Unji came along and had exactly the kind of story I needed, where it was devastating but had a silver lining. And I felt like, since I had this in mind, I’m clinging to his darkness to give me strength. I want to be able to watch his episodes of the anime with strength and courage when they come out, to prove that I’ve gotten emotionally stronger.

YO DanDaDan fans my bf and I just watched the newest ep last night neither of us have read the manga and we're confused about smth, hoping to clear it up:
Soooo my bf thinks that Pink Hair is Acrobatic Silky's actual former daughter but I'm like uuuh nah she had her own Dead Pink Hair Mom didn't she? And also they showed Silky's daughter getting kidnapped by those thugs soooo that's bugging the hell outta me, is that gonna hopefully come up in a future arc where that kid gets saved?

If they're going a little over two chapters per episode (a pretty rapid pace for an anime), Dandadan should be able to get to Jiji juuuust as the season/cour ends around chapter 27.
So the way I see it going with the current number of chapters:
Turbo Granny, Acrobatic Silky, Serpo Arcs
Cursed House arc
Evil Eye and Kaiju arcs
Space Globalists pt 1
Space Globalists pt 2
Onbusuman, Danmara up to castle siege
🎊Okarun gets his balls back🎊

Slowly making my way through the Dandadan manga and I just finished chapter 17 which would be at the end of the acrobatic silky arc which is episode 7. But I got say Science Saru has done such a wonderful job with the animation and bringing the world of Dandadan to life. I'm honesty really excited to delve more into the story

I never actually thought Dandadan would be at the forefront of a culture war battle but here we are and it is draining! DRAINING!
I actually thought for once we would have something people would celebrate. Out of Fujimoto's disciples, we got the one that managed to evoke his spirit with this manga.
In hindsight, black English VA is bound to develop some fanarts of the character reflecting the VAs features but I never pegged it as something controversial.
I guess I have been reminded about that one part of the gamergate post I posted years ago, they only like you if they don't know what you are.
I'm just tired. Dandadan is peak. I was waiting for the Acrobatic Silky arc and they delivered and everyone understood why we love Dandadan.
May Divine Providence help us all.
#dandadan#racism#anti blackness#if black fanarts and fanedits of characters are a crime and are reacted to in that way#then what hope do OG black characters have when they adopt features and elements of those particular characters#like a black knight or a black mage or a black sorcerer#it's just not giving me confidence that the world would be open to black stories that aren't BET or stereotypical

Majo Taisen(War of the Greedy Witches) Manga, there were a few pictures of Anna Pavlova using her ballet skills in fighting(Anna Pavlova vs Yim Wing Chun arc)
Dandadan anime and manga(Chapter 16), the character named Acrobatic Silky in monster form and past life as human.
Unfortunately the fight itself kinda doesn't do her justice I"m afraid, but this introduction card sure is nice!
As for Dandadan, I'll wait until the arc is over in the anime, to post the compilation. It's... something, though :-P
