Would A Quaxley Be A Good Pet?

A quaxley would indeed be a great, if a bit high-maintenance, pet!

Like many starter pokémon, quaxleys are tiny! As common first partner pokémon for trainers in the Paldea Region, they are also known to be very receptive to training and make great companions. There isn’t a lot of data about their wild behavior, but it does seem like they don’t need to live in water, which is a big plus for a lot of owners. They do love swimming, however, so they would probably love to play in the water with you often if you can (Violet).

There don’t seem to be a lot of behavioral issues to cover in general. In fact, the only behavioral quirk to keep in mind is their obsession with tidiness. Quaxleys hate messes. Luckily, it’s pretty easy for them to keep themselves clean, since a natural gel in their feathers repels water and grime (Scarlet). Keeping your home clean would be important to keeping your quaxley happy. They’re prone to overthinking and getting stressed out, so make sure to help them out as much as you can by keeping everything ship-shape (Violet).

Surprisingly, quaxleys are much more powerful than most starter water-type pokémon. Flying-type moves like Wing Attack, Air Slash, and Acrobatics allow quaxleys to deal out a lot of damage by soaring through the air on their little wings. Aqua Cutter and Liquidation are nothing to bat your eyes at either. However, since quaxleys don’t have much of a propensity for violence and are pretty small, these moves are not as high risk as they may be in the hands of another pokémon.

Overall, these tidy little ducklings are great pet candidates!

About the Bomberman Land dub names:

So, I think some of you are aware of the Bomberman Land games, and that the Bombers that made it in a localized game had their name changed to "Adjective + Color" right? Well, turns out the French localization team probably saw this and decided: "What if we gave them actual names instead of the adjectives?" After a bit of checking, it seems it's the only language that does this.

So here's a list of what they went with concerning the main group:

- Cheerful White => Timothé White

- Cool Black => Maximilien Black

- Cute Pink => Elisabeth Pink

- Bookworm Green => Archibald Green

- Kid Blue => Benjamin Blue

- Giant Gold => Théodore Gold

Anyway, that's the most drastic changes. Along with that, Star Bomber is renamed to Mage Bomber and Evil Bomber is renamed to something akin to Nocive Bomber. And then there's Aqua who's just... not renamed at all. Like seriously, they just took the "Acrobat" in her name and translated it. Oh well.

Optimus Prime

Pokémon: Gallade

Moves: Aqua Cutter, Sacred Sword, Rain Dance, Quick Guard

Reason: This was honestly a tough decision as it was hard to find one for this fella, but in the end, I chose Gallade. This Optimus strikes me as a bit old-fashioned, he believes in honor, loyal to the cause, protective of his friends/family, and dedicated to his job, no matter how small it seems, and Gallade is a warrior that has similar values as Optimus does, so this helped me see Optimus as a Gallade.

Bumblebee

Pokémon: Cinderace

Moves: Quick Attack, Agility, Pyro Ball, Flame Charge

Reason: I bet you thought I'd make him an Electric-Type or Bug-Type, but nope, I chose a Fire-Type! I always saw Bumblebee as fiery since he's impulsive, likes to show-off and be in the spotlight, and a lot of egotistical and showboating moments reminds me of Cinderace, a competitive Pokémon that likes to show-off.

Ratchet

Pokémon: Magnezone

Moves: Thunder Wave, Magnet Rise, Discharge, Reflect

Reason: I originally wanted to use a Pokémon you'd imagine Nurse Joy from the anime would use, but none of them worked, then I remembered that while Ratchet is a medic, he is a Cybertronian medic, meaning he more closely associated with robotics and engineering, and he has magnetic abilities, so Magnezone was the ideal choice for him.

Bulkhead

Pokémon: Emboar

Moves: Defense Curl, Head Smash, Hammer Arm, Roll Out

Reason: Bulkhead had plenty of options, but in the end, I decided he would be an Emboar. Not only because it is a big brawny pokemon that looks intimidating, but because it deeply cares for their friends, much like Bulkhead, who looks big and scary, but is a softie at heart who loves his friends/family.

Prowl

Pokémon: Greninja

Moves: Extrasensory, Water Pulse, Water Shuriken, Acrobatics

Reason: Honestly, I was torn between Lucario and Greninja for Prowl, but in the end Greninja won. They were both warrior Pokémon that suited Prowl, but Greninja matches Prowl's personality and style better as Lucario isn't really a ninja. The moves available for each Pokémon helped my decision as well.

Megatron

Pokémon: Garchomp

Moves: Dig, Dragon Claw, Aerial Ace, Dragon Pulse

Reason: There were a plenty of possible choices, but in the end, I decided Garchomp was the best choice. Megatron is a powerful Decepticon and Garchomp is a strong Pseudo-Legendary. And I'm not entirely sure if this is accurate, but I was told that before he was a Decepticon and a gladiator, he was a miner, and Garchomp is part Ground-Type. Plus, in the anime, Garchomp can fly and the pokedex says it can fly, so it still works for Megatron.

Starscream

Pokémon: Liepard

Moves: Nasty Plot, Hone Claws, Fury Swipes, Thief

Reason: After some searching and research, I have finally come to the conclusion that Starscream would be a Liepard. It suits Starscream's vanity and ego, and like him, this Pokémon is said to be vicious and moody, use dirty tactics to get what it wants, and both are known to sneak up on enemies and strike when others are not expecting them.

Lugnut

Pokémon: Golurk

Moves: Earthquake, Dynamic Punch, Heavy Slam,

Reason: Not really much to say here, Golurk is a Pokémon that was created to serve its master and it does its job well is loyal to its creators, and Lugnut is a Decepticon is who fiercely loyal and obedient to Megatron, sometimes to a rather obnoxious degree.

Blitzwing

Pokémon: Hydreigon

Moves: Tri Attack, Outrage, Dragon Pulse, Scary Face

Reason: Admittedly not the most original choice, but I firmly believe Hydreigon is the number choice for what kind of Pokémon Blitzwing would be. Three heads, can fly, and to me, the color schemes go well with each other.

Blackarachnia

Pokémon: Salazzle

Moves: Attract, Poison Fang, Fire Fang, Venoshock

Reason: I know you figured she would get a spider, but after research, this was a way better choice for her. Only female Salazzle exist, and they are known to attract males, and Blackarachnia is the only prominent female Decepticon and she uses her good looks to charm males. And the Poison-Typing works well with her venom, so it still matches well.

Soundwave

Pokémon: Toxtricity (Lowkey Form)

Moves: Boomburst, Overdrive, Discharge, Snarl

Reason: Not much to say, if you just look at TFA Soundwave and Toxtricity, then you will agree they match well. Also, even its pre-evolution works well with little Soundwave, making this the perfect choice for this Decepticon. Honestly, I think either form could work, but in the end, I decided to go for the Lowkey form.

Shockwave

Pokémon: Zoroark

Moves: Taunt, Foul Play, Nasty Plot, Psychic

Reason: Since Shockwave was able to fool everyone by pretending to be Longarm Prime, I thought this Dark-Type Pokémon would be perfect for him, not just because Zoroark can cast illusions to hide themselves and trick people, but because they care about their kind and are deeply loyal to each other, and Shockwave is deeply loyal to the Decepticon cause.

Ultra Magnus

Pokémon: Pyroar

Moves: Hyper Beam, Crunch, Noble Roar, Leer

Reason: I wanted a noble Pokémon for Ultra Magnus, since he always looks so regal and majestic, and Pyroar was the best choice. Actually, the anime gave me inspiration to make this choice. In the XY anime, there was an episode with Pyroar telling a Litleo to leave the pride since he was old enough to do so, but the Litleo didn't want to, and while Pyroar's methods were harsh for the younger Pokémon, it ultimately meant well for the cub. Ultra Magnus does, says, and allows questionable things to happen, but ultimately, he does it for the sake of the Autobots, and he can be merciful when he believes necessary.

Sentinel Prime

Pokémon: Golisopod

Moves: Slash, Iron Defense, Swords Dance, Spite

Reason: Ironic I made him a Bug-Type and he hates organics, but I thought this was perfect for Sentinel. This is a Pokémon who will do anything to win, even use dirty tactics, and Sentinel will do whatever it takes, even throw friends under the bus or hire a bounty hunter to do his dirty work, in order to achieve his goals. And its ability, Emergency Exit, reminds me of how Sentinel will run away or make other do his work when he deems the situation not in his favor.

Jazz

Pokémon: Infernape

Moves: Close Combat, Acrobatics, Flame Wheel, Calm Mind

Reason: Jazz is cool, swift, and an awesome Cyber-Ninja and Infernape is cool, swift, and a martial artist, which is close to a ninja. Honestly, not much to really say, but I really think Jazz would be an Infernape.

Jetfire and Jetstorm

Pokémon: Plusle and Minum

Moves: Helping Hand, Swift, Spark, Volt Switch

Reason: Another unoriginal decision, but overall, these pairs are too similar to really make another other choice and despite looking different and having slightly different stats/abilities, they are overall the same. I tried to make their moves different, but there wasn't much to choose from, so they have the same move set.

Blurr

Pokémon: Manetric

Moves: Leer, Thief, Quick Attack, Wild Charge

Reason: I wanted a fast Pokémon for Blurr, but something that suited his job as an intelligence officer/spy, and I wanted it to look good enough for Bumblebee to be jealous, but not too flashy since Blurr doesn't strike me as egotistical, just no-nonsense and focused on his work, and this Pokémon looks pretty serious and focused.

Lockdown

Pokémon: Grimmsnarl

Moves: False Surrender, Foul Play, Spirit Break, Sucker Punch

Reason: This is kind of hard to explain, but I really do believe Lockdown would be a Grimmsnarl if he were a Pokémon. They're both strong, use dirty tactics, and Grimmsnarl uses its hair to enhance its muscles and Lockdown uses mods and upgrades to enhance himself.

Swindle

Pokémon: Meowscarada

Moves: Flower Trick, Thief, Knock Off, Disarming Voice

Reason: There were a few good choices for Swindle, but with his showy, charming, car-dealership-like personality, I thought the charming, deceitful, and cunning Meowscarada would be the Pokémon Swindle becomes. I also chose this Pokémon not because of that, but because they are both pretty tough when they need to fight, so they are not just for show.

This was a tough one, and I think this might be the longest one, but I am proud of the results! Feel free to ask questions about the moves I chose for them!

["Battle Begin!" The Rotom Drone announces as the video starts, "Barbaracle go!" Siebold shouts throwing out a Pokeball, "Livewire you're up!" Jay calls throwing out a Pokeball of her own, "Use Stone Edge!" Siebold commands, "Get out of there with Gyro Ball!" Jay orders, Barbaracle hits the battlefield making huge blue stalagmites pop out of the ground while Livewire curls up into a ball and begins evading the attack, after awhile of dodging Barbaracle runs out of energy and stops using Stone Edge, "Flash Cannon now!" Jay orders causing Livewire to fire out a huge silver beam towards Barbaracle, "Dodge it!" Siebold shouts causing Barbaracle to jump out of the way of the attack, "Now use Cross Chop!" Barbaracle, now behind Livewire, hits Livewire directly on its head dealing a lot of damage, "Livewire return!" Jay says holding out a Pokeball and retracting Livewire into it, "You did good buddy, you'll get your chance later"

Siebold commands, Vocal runs into towards Barbaracle kicking him repeatedly yet Barbaracle shrugs off the hits and slashes at Vocal, however they narrowly dodge the attack by flying up. Siebold shouts, Barbaracle sends a huge Blue Stalagmite up towards Vocal yet Vocal uses Revelation Dance sending out a huge lightning bolt that shatters the Stalagmite and knocks out Barbaracle, "Not bad Kid" Siebold says, "Barbaracle return, Blastiose go!" "Vocal use Revelation Dance!" Jay shouts, "Blastiose use Skull Bash!" Siebold retaliates, Vocal sends a huge lightning bolt towards Blastiose, Blastiose doesn't even try to dodge the attack, instead Blastiose takes it head on yet he emerges completely fine, "Release now!" Siebold says causing Blastiose to charge towards Vocal extremely quickly, throwing Vocal far back knocking them out, "Great Job buddy" Jay says returning Vocal to their pokeball, "Lily, how about we make this a fair fight" Jay adds looking at Lily's pokeball before throwing it out.

Both trainers ordered causing both Blastiose to break up the Melee back and forth and jump back firing purple beams out of all of their cannons, however both Blastiose cancelled out the others attack, "Rapid Spin!" Jay commands, "Skull Bash!" Siebold shouts Lily begins spinning around and charges towards the opposing Blastiose, meanwhile Siebold's Blastiose tucks his head into his shell and braces for impact, thanks to the defence boost from Skull Bash Lily's attack did next to nothing to her opponent, "Jump back and try Dragon Pulse!" Jay orders yet this also does nothing to the other Blastiose, "This'll finish you off!" Siebold shouts, "Charge!" Siebold's Blastiose charges towards Lily just as he did to Vocal earlier, "Use Hydro Pump, go up!" Jay shouts, Lily then flies up at the last second making Siebold's Blastiose crash into the wall, damaging himself, "Now finish him off, Slam down!" Lily crashes down into Siebold's Blastiose knocking him out but also damaging Lily in the process, "Blastiose return!" Siebold orders, "Gyarados go and use Ice Fang!" Gyarados charges towards Lily wrapping around her before biting down on her head, "Lily break free!" Jay orders but it's no use after awhile of biting Lily returns to her regular form, knocked out, and Gyarados lets her go, "Lily return!" Jay shouts, "Alright Livewire it's me and you now, come on we've got this"

"Use Gyro Ball!" Jay commands, "Waterfall go!" Siebold retaliates, Gyarados rushes towards Livewire however using Gyro Ball Livewire narrowly escapes, "That's it!" Jay shouts, "Livewire let Gyarados get closer to you!" Livewire looks back at Jay confused but Jay merely nods towards it, causing Livewire to re focus on the battlefield, "I don't know what your planning but it won't work!" Siebold says, "Use Ice Fang!" Gyarados charges towards Livewire but Livewire stays in place, "Grab it!" Siebold says causing Gyarados to wrap around Livewire, "Here's a fact about Meltan" Jay says, "Their bodies are made of liquid metal" Livewire then slips through Gyarados' grasp and slides onto him, Gyarados and Siebold both begin looking for Livewire but it's nowhere to be seen, "Thunderbolt now!" Jay shouts causing Livewire to fire a massive thunderbolt towards Gyarados from directly below his neck, knocking him out, "Gyarados is unable to battle, Jay is the winner!" The Rotom Drone announces, "You did it buddy!" Jay shouts as the video ends]

Daniel, the Cardinal Drewman

Serena’s big brother; they have a whole Dipper and Mabel thing going on

The unofficial leader of his little section of ICT, but he still answers to Violet

Usually pretty chill, kind of a slacker, but forces himself to act responsibly for Serena’s sake

Visually inspired by Scott Pilgrim (more obvious with his default expression)

Very emotional; surprisingly easy to convince to do anything (I broke my alphabetical order there)

Has it bad for Fern. Doesn’t even bother denying it at this point

Astonishingly good at puzzles and problem solving when his mind is in the right place

Serena, the Canary Drewman

Daniel’s little sister, but you could’ve probably guessed that

Think Kitty from The Ridonculous Race

Daniel’s main reason for getting up in the morning

Naturally curious. An amateur sleuth (read: professional busybody)

Lover of animals. Bonds with Cedric over this

Deliberately plays up her childish attitude to piss off Danny

Tries to set Daniel up with Fern upon realizing he’s madly in love with her. Starting to regret this choice

Damon, the Denim Drewman

Danny’s buddy

A mischievous, lackadaisical “bad boy” type. Immediately clashes with Lloyd, who thinks he’s a poser.

Definitely channeling Marshall Lee in his design and mannerisms

A lot more malicious in his jokes to differentiate him from Noah from a few seasons back

Nowhere near as confident as he’d like you to think

One of very few characters to have a car

Despite his obsession with keeping up his reputation, he can’t bear to keep up his “arrogant douche” act in front of the others

Wade, the Sea Green Drewman

Big fun personified

Not stupid, but highly uncoordinated and spacey

Basically just Total Drama’s Owen

Deceptively acrobatic. Used to take water aerobics

Learned to fish at a very young age. Can only cook seafood

Always seems to attract the lunatics; Bobbie, Geneva, Kirby, Mark, etc. adore him

No relation to Izumi (seafoam), Shawn (ocean blue), Walter (aqua), or Marina (aquamarine) despite their similar color themes.

Judy, the Raspberry Drewman

The trickiest one

Generally benevolent, but a master at deception and manipulation

Ms. Chalice in Numbuh Five’s body

Her eyes are her only tell, so she covers them completely

Makes sure to steer clear of resident aura reader Lyman

Very little of what she says isn’t wrapped in a layer of irony

Each of those dreadlocks are so tightly packed they can dislocate bones

Ash, the Ash Gray Drewman

Chill and introverted

Music flows through those veins

Stoned? Who knows

Some random he/they ICT picked off the street

Vaguely inspired by Monster Prom’s Sawyer

Gentle giant

Functions on the exact same wavelength as the likes of J. and Geneva despite being far calmer

Fern, the Fern Green Drewman

On the border between goth and hippie

Simply along for the ride. Everything’s just for her own amusement

Seems nice but increasingly turns out to be as conniving and rascally as Judy is. Tends to come off as a lot meaner than she wants to

Fully knows Daniel has a crush on her. She genuinely likes him, she just wants to see how many times he can make a fool of himself

The latest in a long line of potential lovers Serena tried to set Daniel up with, but she resents Fern for playing with his emotions. That said, she and her are more alike than they’d like to admit

Trixie, normally a bigger prankster than Fern herself, is terrified of her for reasons she refuses to get into

Genuinely friends with Mable despite what everything would suggest. After all, Fern doesn’t derive enjoyment from physical suffering

Mable, the Maple Brown Drewman

A massive klutz. She blames her disproportionately long legs

She has dozens of those bear hoodies

Covered in bandaids under her hoodie

Major Finberly vibes

Way too eager to help a friend out. Given her bumbling nature, it never goes well

Needless to say, she’s the season’s pain magnet

Absolute moron. I love her

Nestor and Gene, the Eggshell/Eggplant Drewmans

NEEEERDS

The two are inseparable. They’re collectively known as the Eggheads

Nestor’s the geekier, more pop cultured of the two and is a master of terrible puns. Gene’s more book smart and acerbic.

Idolizes Rodney, a stage magician, despite her knowing actual magic

Nary a thought between those nonexistent ears

Shares Brody’s merrily bloodthirsty demeanor, but in the opposite direction

Celeste, the Celeste Drewman

Athletic, tough, and commandeering

Kind of a bully. While she’s definitely strong enough to make her case, very few people take her all that seriously

Immediately clashes with Buffy and Cameron, thinking they’re ripping off her style

Goal oriented, but not to a detrimental extent

Deliberately affects her more aggressive persona because she feels that’s how you get by in life

She doesn’t bother acting mean towards people she doesn’t regard as a threat

Wouldn’t be working for ICT if she didn’t need to

Ginger, the Ginger Drewman

Her hair actually is on fire 24/7. It’s just that nobody cares

Bobbie’s evil counterpart. While Bobbie’s just hyperactive and vicious, Ginger causes destruction for the heck of it. The two naturally get along swimmingly

Disturbingly cunning and calculating

Her energy levels aren’t all that high. She’s pretty calm and personable if you catch her in the afternoon

My sister says her eyebrows and cap look like a duck together and it’s REALLY THROWING ME OFF

Will make you die if you make a “soulless ginger” joke in her vicinity

She likes higher positions, namely atop other people’s shoulders

Alphonso, the Mango Drewman

Lovable quarterback

Has an underserved reputation for idiocy due to his sunny disposition

Ridiculously wholesome and encouraging, but not in a sickening way

Could gouge one’s eyes out with a well placed slap to the jaw were he a lesser being and gave into his rage

He’s not faking it. He’s just that infectiously happy

He usually respects people’s negative emotions. The issues usually derive from his…odd thought processes

His yellow eyes twist everything he sees into a sunshiny equivalent

Muffet, the Blueberry Drewman

The Eeyore

Her sullen face doesn’t always indicate depression or sadness, but she can unintentionally bring down the mood with her presence

She is rather quick to break into tears, though

Likes to be alone with her thoughts

Has a surprising flair for the dramatic

Really into flowers and gardening in her down time

It actually doesn’t take much to make her smile. That’s just her resting face

Peter, the Pewter Drewman

A squeaky clean neat freak

Polite, but doesn’t mince his words

Not great at detecting sarcasm

Loud and dramatic about relatively mundane things

Seems like one of the saner cast mates, but he’s actually very openly unhinged

That being said, he’s probably the best at avoiding actual trouble

The Von Nillions all owe him obscene amounts in damages. He’s uncharacteristically cool about it
