Oh, that's an interesting take!^^ While I no longer see them as ever becoming an actual couple or having romantic feelings towards each other in my version, the idea of them forming a tender sort of partnership is one I'm certainly not opposed to! 😊

Whether they would remain friends or later develop a queerplatonic relationship likely wouldn't change much for either of them, though. :3 The dynamic they share would be a stable, healthy and deeply understanding one based on mutual recognition, respect and a long sought for sense of relatibility. At the end of the day, this would be all that really matters to both of them. ✨️😌

to me, being ace is like. 'wow that is person is so aesthetically attractive but everyone seems to call that hot so I guess I will too.' 'omg I have no idea what the fuss about this dancer is but the steps look really cool.' 'oh no, I really like hanging out with this person - is this platonic or should I re-evaluate my romantic orientation.' and 'does everyone actually feel like that and am I just an impostor taking up space in such a beautiful community?' all at once.

Last Saturday, the Pride march took place in my city. This is the first year that I openly presented myself as a person on the asexual spectrum, carrying the asexual flag to raise visibility within the community. However, I felt quite alone because, among the countless people there, I only saw one other girl with the flag. And not only that, but the letter "A" NEVER appeared on the signs. There was even a sign dedicated to advocating for fetishists! Another example is one that read: "In support of LBT women."

A couple of people approached me to ask what my flag represented. I couldn't stop wondering how many people present even recognized the asexual community as part of the LGBT+ community. Fortunately, there was no hate speech directed at me, but I felt like a fish out of water. Alone in my truth. In fact, I don't even think my closest friends take my asexuality seriously.

I wish I could find a community where I feel supported and understood.

I'm still absolutely buzzing that someone stopped us to say 'Happy ace awareness week!' when they saw the flag tattooed on our neck.

This. This is why we did it. We're proud of who we are, and we want to be visible. We want to show the baby aces and the folks who can't/don't want to come out and the folks who are afraid that they're not alone. We want queer folks in gift shops to know that we're a part of their community and we see them, just like they see us.

We want to be seen. And we're so freaking excited that we were.
