I'm glad how I found out about aromanticism through some Psych2go vid, where it was talked about by itself. Vil is a successful, confident, drop dead gorgeous fashion icon. He has a whole business for cosmetics because he’s so gorgeous. He’s very skilled in potion making, so much so bro makes his OWN makeup. He has a strict diet he follows and it’s clearly gving him the results he wants. Vil Schoenheit is everything Azul wants to be!! On top of that, Vil is Azul’s bloody UPPERCLASSMAN.

And does everyone forget how Azul literally info dumped about the man in Book 5 Chapter 2?? Nobody talks about it. They’re too busy headcannoning Sebek or Riddle or Floyd to be neurodivergent af (jkjk)!! Such a shame Vil told him to stfu but in his own pretty, 3w4-coded ways😔😔

Azul has shown before he will invest inhumane amounts of time into things he thinks are important. An example of this is in his birthday jackect card, he talked in a fair amount of detail about the quality of the pillow Ace gave him. He could do this because he researched ON pillow qualities.

It’s likely when he was trying to step up his game with success or diet, he stumbled upon Vil, researched the frick out of this guy, and lo and behold became a fan of his.

Some honourable mentions are when he made a deal with Vil in his ceremonial robes. I haven’t seen it because I wanna save the feeling of raw happiness with these two characters interacting once I get the card. If we didn’t see Azul show any sort of fan behaviour when Vil made that deal then I firmly believe he was kicking, giggling, twirling his hair off camera behind closed doors over it. Then I do hear in the second Camp Vargas event, Azul and Vil had some more interactions! I thiiiiiiink they were getting competitive with each other??? That changes nothing from my ignorant eye. It’s NRC. Everyone is really competitive and will turn on each other’s backs faster than Leona can fall asleep (bro’s actually depressed, I swear).

Anyway, I think it’s only right I list my headcanons now for them:

Azul gobbles up any dietary/beauty tips Vil has

Azul uses Vil’s makeup brand that’s probably vegan

He also collects Vil’s magazines and puts them all in a box hidden away in his closet or under his bed

Vil probably finds him annoying💀💀💀 (what can I say? he has a reputation for not stfu around higher class people)

Elaborating on that, Vil does respect his success but I bet he can see the unhealthy greed that lies under it all. Thus, that’s prolly a reason why he would try to distance himself away from Azul.

BADLY wants to collaborate with Vil because Mostro Lounge profits would soar if they did. Knowing his bold arse he probably made the request at least thrice and Vil shut him down each time. He’s obviously not gonna stop because we all know him. (never back down never what—)

Yes, I know he canonically looks up to Ursula, but I think he would like someone… yknow… alive to look up to.

Keep in mind I’m only on Book 5 Chapter 29 as of this moment so it’s totally possible I missed some things! Leave your opinions, headcanons, or anything else in the comments, I’d love to see them! Not to be an ace attorney fan or anything but Ive been watching murder mystery shows and it makes me appreciate mystery video games more. Video games are genuinely one of the best mediums for a classic whodunnit and its a shame that we dont get more of them. Let me explain.

In a video game, you are active in the story. You have to follow the logic of the mystery. You have to know what's going on. What the player character knows, you know, so you can't just have a talk offscreen and come into the big reveal with a new fact no one had ever heard.

Now, I've been watching a lot of Elementary lately. It's pretty good, I enjoy it, but inherently, Sherlock knows things that the viewer does not. The camera can cut away from him while he's questioning someone. He has knowledge of the in-show universe that we do not, but sometimes that knowledge gets brought up too late. We can't follow the process, so we just have to trust that what he's saying is true and right. Like, they'll introduce some random guy we haven't heard of or met most of the way through an episode and then say "This is a famous serial killer and the crime fits his MO perfectly" and we just kinda have to go with it.

Meanwhile, with Ace Attorney, you see everything Phoenix or Apollo or anyone sees. If there was a thing that happened that's relevant to the case, it will either be internally monologued about, explained aloud to someone else, or told to you directly. You Know what the character knows (with a few notable exceptions like whatever the fuck was going on in DD but thats mostly because of the timeline, how Phoenix knows Edgeworth in game 1 before the class trial explanation in 1-3, Nahyuta and Apollo being siblings, etc). Anything you DONT know that the character knows is irrelevant to the case. There can be twists, but they're things that turn your preconceived notions about a case around, not just grabbing some random guy in the last 5 minutes and saying "it was him!"

alright i finished the show and the movie and because i promised @italeean i would react to that (and because i want to) here's one last too long addition to this post, but don't worry, it'll be a lot nicer than the last two :)

because GOOD NEWS people, the gom has won me over - yes, even akashi and murasakibara. btw, i am not going back on anything i said in my murasakibara rant (except for the "i hate him more than hanamiya", that is now incorrect) but he has evolved and ig i can forgive him.

akashi. oooh damn akashi. a good fucking character. THANK YOU. i already said it talking to @trans-ace-lee in dms, i really wanted akashi to win me over because he was so heavily built up to be very deep and i'm happy he did because that means they DELIVERED. that's the compelling backstory i was talking about in the hanamiya rant, that's the compelling backstory i need for a guy who brings a gun to a knife fight (aka scissors to a regular conversation, idk it just didn't sound as good) and the kind of development where by the end i'm like "okay i can see it, you're redeemed" and not like "i can see it but stfu" (that's what happened with adam in sk8). aomine and akashi both managed to be the first one, although as a fellow burnt out "gifted child" i found aomine a tad more compelling 🥲

i think i have identified the main source of the hate i had for akashi, murasakibara and aomine in the beginning: kise. i liked kise from the first moment he appeared because you could tell he's not a bad guy. ofc his character arc is a little different from the rest of the gom but still, i think it gave me too high standards for the others ^^' also it was way easier to like kise and midorima because they had likeable "sidekicks" in kasamatsu and takao, whereas the other three had people like imayoshi (i love him but he's a little evil), himuro (whom i had my very own set of problems with but he too has redeemed himself) and, like, the entirety of rakuzan (who have their very own charme i'll admit but are not exactly nice people most of the time). but as i said, all good now, gom is entirely fine.

okay, now the movie. i've been warned about jabberwock after my hanamiya rant but tbh, i didn't find them nearly as infuriating (except for when they fucking broke murasakibara's arm but that was like the only moment i was actually mad at them) and i even have reasons for that. hear me out.

jabberwock are mocking their opponents during a game. why do they do that? because it's a common thing to do in street basketball. but they take it over the top, why do they do that? because they're arrogant assholes. but why are they arrogant assholes? because no one was ever able to defeat them and knock them down a peg. okay, fair enough. these guys are pretty shallow antagonists. they're only in the movie and being pricks so people like me, who needed time to accept the gom completely, don't sympathize with the enemy just because characters i don't like are on the "good" team. and for such shallow antagonists the reasoning for their horrific personalities is perfectly fine.

that's what i meant when i said it would've been so easy to make hanamiya a good antagonist and that's what makes him so frustrating because it would've been so fucking easy to make him a good antagonist. give me one (1!!) reason he's acting like he does! you don't have to make him compelling, which would be a nice bonus but it's not necessary, but give me a reason, ANY REASON other than "he likes to hurt people and crush dreams" - THEN HE SHOULD GO INTO POLITICS AND NOT PLAY HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL!!

i don't think i have to rant on about hanamiya because i already said it all in the other reblog, but let me just say this: they did a better job on the writing of jabberwock in <90 minutes than they did on the writing of hanamiya over the course of five episodes and that's a little sad.

BUT to end on a good note: takao <3 while he didn't do much in the game against jabberwock, aside from making me very sad with his little speech about midorima and akashi, i was very happy to see him. i was also very happy to see that kise finally won something 💀

and a list of the highlights just for fun:

- takao, kise and izuki in terms of characters

- every match against kaijo because they're amazing and i like how kise has a crisis every time he's on court

- that one scene in the very last episode where kasamatsu gets a c on his exam while the other guy (i forgot his name and i am not looking it up) gets a b

- when izuki made a joke during the match against rakuzan and hayama laughed

- i already mentioned this in a seperate post but when kagami almost kills takao, that was fun

- also takao being the first one to be a victim to akashi's anklebreaker because it was actually kinda heartbreaking and i didn't expect that

- did i mention takao?

- the homoerotic tension between imayoshi and izuki (i ship them ur honor)

- that one moment in kaijo vs touhou when kise copied that throw behind the back

- the first time kagami used the meteor slam dunk, that was pretty epic

He just seems like he wouldn't be interested in people romantically but is definitely interested in them sexually and that's pretty based and cool. But also not self aware of it at all and people think he disregards people and only sees them as sex objects but he just genuinely can't form those sorts of attractions.
