Altair and Tazim like to take walks after they have dinner together. It becomes a thing.
For Tazim, it’s tradition. Even before Altair joined on these after dinner walks, Tazim still had them. He had them before officially meeting Altair and he continues to have them after. It’s something Tazim did with a friend, long before any adult or assassin responsibilities settled. A walk after dinner is tradition.
When Altair joins him, Tazim is softly welcomed into stories of Altair’s youth as an assassin. Recalling the good as well as the bad, and stories of Tazim’s father.
The first time this happens, Tazim nearly comes to tears. Especially when Altair grabs his shoulder in a very fatherly way. Tazim totally sheds tears when he’s alone. But after that, he waits patiently for Altair to finish his dinner so they can have their afternoon walks. On days he’s specially tired, Altair is always offered an arm to hold and together he and Tazim recall similarities and differences of their lives as assassins. They even compare their friends and the shenanigans they got into.

I can't help but feel Edward Kenway suffers from peripherial treatment. He goes through a poetic character development, one of the best I've seen in game-based storytelling and ends up with a massive potential that never really gets used in any capacity.
Ending of Black Flag is unsatisfying not because of the lack of emotional conclusion but because it only showcases that, in the end, Edward's life story is just a narrative tool for the characters of AC III. I could write an entire post about how the ending doesn't hold up from the character and narrative standpoint (don't even get me started on the books...) but it's pointless. Because it had all happen this way for Haytham Kenway's story to make sense.
Certainly doesn't help that we spent so little time with Edward as an Assassin. The changed man, a force to be reckoned with.
Don't get me wrong, I love AC III. But I also love Edward and I will never stop creating hc's and AU's that change his fate to a better one.

In the past, people in the Animal Crossing community would make fun of Tom Nook as a sleazy landlord. Since then, he's really rehabilitated his image as this 'heart of gold' businessman (he's the one who puts bells and furniture in trees for you to find! he adopted orphans! he donates to charity!), but New Horizons genuinely paints the most devious version of him.
He's successfully privatized settler colonialism: you pay HIM to move to a "deserted island" (which apparently the oceans in the AC world are just full of) and start a colony that he is directly invested in. At best he's running a weird vacation package scam (you arrive on the island with no money and in debt for "using his services"). At worst, he's using you to set up company towns. For god's sake, he literally has his own fake currency that he forces you to use to pay off your debt. But don't worry, he's repackaged it in a way that definitely doesn't sound like an MLM scam: the Nook Mileage Program!
You're no longer just his tenant or his temporary part-timer, you're his business lackey. The entire tutorial section of the game has you spending actual weeks running around completing tasks and doing hard labor to set up his colony. You're even tasked with preparing his properties and finding buyers for them. No, you aren't a tenant anymore. You work for the landlord. You are directly responsible for finding tenants for him. And he doesn't even fucking pay you. Not for setting up town hall and museum, or his nephew's shop –– which is the ONLY store on the entire island that sells necessities –– or bringing KK Slider to town, or helping populate his town. Not a single cent. No, actually, you have to pay HIM to BUY infrastructure like bridges and stairs and park benches. And all the while, he's telling you're the "resident representative"; you get to call the shots! That the reward is the community's progress. That what you're doing is in everyone's best interest (but most importantly, his).
Since NH's release, people have done a lot of legwork to say that Tom Nook isn't a capitalist while the game shows him at his very worst. He owns the only general store in town. You're forced to use a phone that he modified and branded as his own. Buy Nook-branded furniture and merchandise at the self-serve kiosk in the town hall, a governmental building! There's no conflict of interest here!
But hey, if you're tired of being the landlord/business mogul's goon, you can also find work as a deluxe resort home designer for a company that also pays you in their special company currency that can only be used to buy their products instead of a real salary! Because that's what the Animal Crossing franchise needs! More vacation homes!!!
#this is a really long winded way to say i really really really really hate new horizon's storyline and player role#i really hate that not only your house but the entire TOWN. the whole COMMUNITY you're a part of is owed to tom nook's business#i really hate the “vacation getaway package” angle because it shows just how commercialized the entire premise of nh is#and how lost the game is in its original core concept#animal crossing is about the experience of moving to a new town and becoming a part of that community#just to compare: all past ac games have a similar opening#you're on a bus or train or taxi to someplace new. a stranger strikes up a conversation and you get to know them before arriving#new horizons opens with you at customer service desk filling out an client application before a flight.#in prev games working for nook in the tutorial is meant to be demeaning. you want it to be over with so you can actually start living life#but in new horizons working for tom nook IS your life. and it's so rewarding! don't you feel rewarded?#you aren't a person. you aren't a new neighbor. you're tom nook's client. and then his unpaid employee. and the game insists it's fun to be#that's how void the game is#because it's bad enough that a rpg life sim got turned into a sandbox game where you have to build the town yourself#but the only reason why you're building it is because the landlord who you're in debt to TOLD you to build it.#everything is a rewards program! everything is a tour service! be sure to do your daily tasks to earn nook bucks to spend on nook merch!#that really sucks imo.#i mean. the entire game is based around the vacationing industry. of course it all feels fake and temporary. it's only a vacation.#long post#rant#not art#god the fact that your starter villagers can't even decide where to live you have to decide for them#i've never played a game that does the opposite of handholding#where instead it's the PLAYER who has to handhold the npcs through everything. and newsflash!! it's really exhausting and boring

Aspec men deserve much more respect and recognition in the aspec community than they receive. They often face a different form of aphobia specific to them ("men are naturally sexual they can't be ace" "all men are unromantic that's not unique") this rhetoric is spouted by many, even members of our own community and I hope for a day where that is no longer the case. As an ace and demiro woman (demigirl but that's beside the point) I want to encourage folks to take the time to give the aspec men in their lives support and to the aspec men reading, you are who you say you are no matter what people say and you deserve the world. I'm sorry for the ways in which toxic masculinity has harmed you. You are a valued member of the aspec community and the queer community as a whole. No ace or aro person is broken and neither are you. I'm sorry if anyone has ever told you otherwise.

It’s crazy how many people just don’t understand why a lot of aro and or ace people don’t like that Alaster gets shipped. It’s not that hard to understand we don’t have a lot to let ourselves lose. I mean can you name 10 asexual characters? 5? Can you name two aro characters. There’s the guy from Archie who they made have a sex scene in a movie version. There’s a few books. I think a background character in Heartstopper? Do you see the theme here??? You’re all queer people, do you not get it? How it feels to have nothing? Is it so wrong to be upset that there’s finally an outwardly aroace person in popular media and instead of people embracing that they’re fighting on the internet about why it’s ok to ignore it? And I will never in my fucking life have anything against the people who are aro and or ace and portray him in THEIR experiences, even if it is a romance or sex favorable experience, but it is obvious that way too many of you guys are allo and it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t even like him as a character that much, he isn’t even made by an aroace artist. The show isn’t even that fucking good, I just want to keep someone like me for once in my life. If there were a million other aroace characters I wouldn’t care, but it just hurts seeing erasure coming from my own community. It just sucks, man, I don’t know. It just sucks

genuinely baffled whenever I see someone try to claim maya fey is badly written as if she’s not one of the most empathetic depictions of a 17-19 year old girl I’ve ever seen

Oh so when a priest takes an oath of celibacy he's "a man of faith", but when I say I'm Ace and sex-repulsed I'll "change my mind" and "haven't found the right person yet" 🙄

Personally, I'm happy to see Ezio again. I love him. And we're getting more Leonardo da Vinci content?! Fantastic! I love seeing more EzioLeo moments.
However, this outfit is very toned down and doesn't reflect any known role in the timeline. We know the different stages of Ezio and his life based on his outfit in each game. This honestly looks more like his novice robes than his Master Assassin ones. And revenge? On who? Our boy literally has already gotten his fair share of vengeance at this point.
Either way, I'm excited to see our beloved Ezio Auditore again and even more excited to see Leonardo and Claudia.
this is making me physically angrY
Tumblr media
what is this outfit? not even it on itself, but like, why the change? why was Ezio given a downgrade from his ACB fit? why make him look more like the novices in ACB rather than a proper mentor figure like in ACR? also, "untold chapter of conflict stolen treasures and revenge"? REVENGE?? aren't we fucking past that by the time ACB rolls out?
this is such a dumb character design decision. i don't know this Ezio. nobody knows this Ezio. we know him in AC2 and ACB and ACR and even in the side games, cus we know his outfits and what they mean for him character-wise. But who's this Ezio? what's his fucking deal? what's the point of hammering in yet another ""untold chapter"" on a character that's been given all the screen time that he needs and then some?
i'm so.....

I genuinely hate when people invalidate demiromantic/demisexual/other labels in general by saying somethin like "OMG!!!! why do these labels exist that's how every relationship is!!!!! what has this generation come to?!!?,!?!!"
some people out here are dating someone they just met two days ago. while it literally took me two whole years of getting to know someone before having a crush on them. can y'all please not find excuses to invalidate aspec/arospec people. thanks

Okay, but big, fat glaring issue I noticed with AC: Forsaken (but I don't doubt other AC novels also deal with this): character's literacy.  First of all, what is acknowledged as literacy in these times is the ability to sing your own name. Like, I mean it, as long as you're able to read a few words and sign a document, you'd be considered literate in the reality of the early XVIII-century.
My point is, the fact that Caroline Scott is able to read and write is decently believable, but Edward? I don't doubt he'd learn in the West Indies, from other pirates especially but there's the whole issue of just, being able to write letters like he casually does? Someone who had no formal education, wasn't even able to sign his own name at worst and could read a few passages from the Bible with difficulty at best?
Not to even mention the whole "well-off girl falls for a peasant troublemaker" trope. I get it, it's a cute premise and I do like Caroline, don't get me wrong, but it's just so removed from the historical reality of the times. Edward's backstory could've been written better, to showcase the glaring difference between classes, to further explore his motivations.

I wish some aces would stop excluding other aces with complex sexual experiences. like I get why but you have to realize that being ace does not mean they don't enjoy sexual experiences and it's weird when you complain about allo people and boil it down to "people who have sexual experiences" and also shame people for their sex life and kinks as if your own community doesnt INCLUDE those people. because there are other aces out there who still masturbate, who feel sexually attracted to their own body, who barely experiences sexual attraction but still enjoys sex, who like consuming sexual media, who like sfw kink. being ace is so so much more complex than just "disliking sex". and also aromantic exclusionism in the same genre of posts is something i see a lot. especially aro allos. I hate hate hate seeing a community that SHOULD be inclusive boil down sexuality and exclude people.
