i've noticed that every prisoner's victim so far has been largely sympathetic in some way except for amane's (and maybe kotoko's if the theories are wrong) and while i get that it's probably because of the whole morally grey thing the series has going on, i wonder if there's another reason for it.
like sure, i can't say yuno's and shidou's victims needed to live either, if only bc the victims were kind of in a half life anyway, but amane's mom is the only victim so far that i can say absolutely deserved it.
i'm fairly certain this pattern is gonna hold up with mikoto and kotoko too, even if mikoto's whole situation is as confusing as his mvs and kotoko has killed actual criminals before meeting lucky. which really makes her being voted unforgiven in t1 even worse like- we didn't know at the time but still!
anyway, idk where i'm going with this but i thought it was worth noting.
Anon Im so sorry I thought I answered this- yeah its neat that Amane (and then Maybe Kotoko and Mikoto) Are the only unsympathetic victims (thought for a good month after watching AKAA I thought Haruka killed his mom before I took another look and realized it was the girl from Weakness lol) I dont know exactly Why that could be the case though...if anyone has any idea I'd like to hear it!
Re T1 Amane: I like calling what happened in T1 Amane's Voting an Author's Trap because it's such a trap its So funny.
They lure you in with how joyful this girl is at killing someone and use the fictional imagery to lure you into believing that it isnt extremely accurate to what actually happened (I Always find this neat about Magic, it just Shows You It lol) so the audience doesn't think too hard about the extreme horrible torture and abuse that's just blatantly shown on screen...then hit you over the head with "Dududu! You've perpetuated the cycle of abuse!" This kind of stuff can go badly cause like- if you do it wrong, then it just feels like you wanted to be smarter than the audience and it makes the audience feel cheated and betrayed (*cough* MOFFAT *cough) but it works for Amane since we SAW the torture. It was something people KNEW about and DISCUSSED and then DECIDED that it would be better to take the tough love approach anyway. We Didn't Need to know she killed her mother to Know that she was abused. It's great, I love it when creators do this.

THE TOP 10 WORST KPOP SONGS OF 2020
(WARNING: I DON’T LIKE THESE SONGS AND WILL BE MEAN AT THEM. I DO NOT HAVE ANY PERSONAL BEEF WITH ANY OF THESE GROUPS OR ARTISTS SO DON’T COME FOR ME IF YOUR FAVE MADE A STINKER TRACK THIS YEAR.)
Ah, 2020. The year where disco came back, the 80s came back, and everyone was titling their songs after nonsense words. It was a good year for k-pop overall, with a lot of new trends entering the game towards the end of summer. However, there were some real clunkers that refused to get out of my head this quarantine and pissed me off to varying degrees each time I heard them. This list is an attempt to chronicle all of those.
So without further ado, let’s get this shit done.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
NCT 127 - PUNCH This isn't actually a bad song, hence it only making it to the honorable mentions section. In fact, I think this could've easily made the best list had it not been for one thing, and that's the presence of NCT 127, namely their rap line. The instrumental on this thing is absolutely killer and one of the best productions to come out of SM in a long time. The entire thing is bizarrely structured and incredibly gutsy, and therefore I think it's a travesty that an instrumental this incredible was drowned in ASMR-esque whispers and EYYYY WE BALLINs. There are a few salvageable sections, namely the first post-chorus, and we see glimmers of NCT 127's true potential, should they choose to explore this sound further.
CIGNATURE - NUN NU NAN NA Similar to Punch, I admire the production choices here - there are a few sections that blast you with 100gecs-esque womps, and that's always something I enjoy. The vast majority of the song rarely dips below decent territory, but since the entire thing hinges on the titular hook, it ends up falling apart right when it needs to bring the hype the most. I mean, building a hook around those notes was...an interesting choice, I guess. It reminds me a lot of fromis_9's FUN!, which also constructed the entire song around a terrible set of notes. Listen to them yell that hook at you and tell me it doesn't sound off. Most frustrating song of 2020.
ONG SEONG WU - GRAVITY Have you ever heard a drop this weak? I sure haven't. I hate the way he says DIVING INTO YOUR LOVE, the over-enunciation kills me and there's one syllable too many. Also, thanks Ong Seong Wu for giving CRAVITY the promo they deserve.
BTS - FLY TO MY ROOM I can't relax while listening to this, the beat is so sparse and has this nauseous sway to it that really makes me feel like I'm reliving these past 9 months of quarantine all over again. And just like quarantine, it really feels like this goddamn thing never ends. That final set of choruses is really a chore to get through, and I'm not the only one who thinks so - shout out to Taehyung for serving taste and I'm sorry Jimin convinced you to sing out of your natural range yet again.
TREASURE - MMM Ew.
I*ZONE - FIESTA It's a pretty standard girl group song up until that chorus hits and oh my god, who on earth produced this? Are they actively trying to trigger my psychosis? There are so many sounds happening that it feels like three or four demo tracks laid on top of each other, it makes me confused even trying to figure out what's going on here. And that post-chorus drop is horrendous, it's like the instrumental is literally screaming into my ear STREAM BLOOM*IZ!!! STREAM BLOOM*IZ YOU DUMB CUCK!!! YOU LOVE IT!!!
NOW FOR THE REAL LIST.
#10: TAEYEON - HAPPY
I do not like this. Taeyeon has one of the most powerful voices in the industry and instead of putting it to good use, she decided to put out the musical equivalent of eating a stick of butter. Bland, horrible texture, seems to go on forever and ever, you know you shouldn't be consuming it and you don't know why you're doing this to yourself, etc.
The MV contributed to my dislike, with Taeyeon whitewashed all the way into uncanny valley as she lounges around her beautiful apartment. Well of course you'd be happy if you lived in a place like that, I know I would. The sad thing is that there's some really nice vocal work here and there, but for the majority of the song, Taeyeon decides to serenade us in the most nasal tone that she can muster. I know she can sing better than this, and I'm disappointed in her for creating this and unleashing it on the world.
#9: WEKI MEKI - OOPSY
Whereas Picky Picky was annoying in the best way possible, Oopsy is annoying in the worst way possible. The instrumental legitimately sounds cheap, the drums sound so tinny and artificial that it's hard on the ears. Not to mention the hook, wherein the girls force their voices as high as they can go as they proclaim OOPSY!
I'm a huge fan of cute concepts, but when it comes to putting out a high-energy sugary track like this, you're walking a fine line between adorable and irritating. Weki Meki didn't even try to walk the line, they just dove headfirst into irritating territory without a care in the world. It literally feels like the audio equivalent of having to hold a whiny toddler and then it pisses itself and the mom is just cooing about how her little darling made an oopsy.
#8: VICTON - MAYDAY
It feels like for most of the year, the vast majority of boy groups were stuck in a rut, knee-deep in sludgy EDM and leather harnesses. You know the songs I'm talking about, and I could've put any one of them here, but I chose this one purely because that chorus makes me feel like I have a concussion. I don't like this song nor the trend it's representative of - I spent most of quarantine having the same dark BG concepts thrown at me over and over and I'm glad things are starting to take a bit of a turn.
The bridge on this is actually pretty great, and the guys in VICTON do know how to sing, as can be seen in the final post-chorus. But man, there's just nothing fresh being brought to the table here, just the same stale trends in their worst form yet. The hook is so slow and drowsy, the same few notes just repeated over and over. I have not seen the MV because I feel like I can picture it well enough in my head just by listening. Are there harnesses? Don't forget those, boys.
#7: MCND - SPRING
Only Pentagon are allowed to do these concepts.
#6: HYO, LOOPY, SOYEON - DESSERT
This is genuinely unlistenable as soon as the drop hits, with a vocal stitching job that might be a horn synth, I'm not sure. That's how annoying it is. The producer is clearly incompetent and the performers are oozing with personality, though not the pleasant sort. The hook is bratty and the raps here are beyond generic. After the halfway point, there are a couple interesting sounds thrown into the mix, but it's not enough to save things.
Soyeon in particular sounds awful here, with her iconic nasally tone morphing into something genuinely irritating and borderline spiteful. Age up the toddler from the Oopsy comparison to around 7 or 8 and that's basically what you've got here. All I can hope is that this song is not influential in any way, shape or form, because I just had a vision of Blackpink imitating this production style and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
#5: SECRET NUMBER - WHO DIS?
I'm not sure how many Secret Number fans are out there, but I'm about to make all of em real mad at me right about now. However, it must be said.
This is basically Your Turn by Kaachi again.
I don't think I need to explain that hot take, just listen to the song. It's surprisingly amateurish, to the point where I feel like the vocals aren't in sync and they just used the first take they got from each girl. The raps in particular are awful, and I swear they even sound like they go off-key a couple of times. How this blew up in any aspect is bizarre to me. Anyways, stream Photo Magic and stan Kaachi.
#4: BAEKHYUN - CANDY
Did you want a k-pop version of Yummy by Justin Bieber? No? Well, Baekhyun decided to make it anyways! At least Yummy was sort of funny in how bad it is, this is just...a somber affair. Inexplicably, he manages to oversing the final third of the song, which I don't get the point of, but okay. Lazy, underproduced and overproduced at the same time, bland, boring, annoying...
Wait, did he just say...
Okay, I changed my mind, this is hysterical. Like Pop rocks, strawberry, bubble gum...
#3: (G)-IDLE - DUMDI DUMDI
I'm so sick of this group's 'ethnic' schtick, it's like they never learn. They just don't give a fuck - after a string of genuinely great tracks like Hann, Lion, and Oh My God, they just decide to put out this shit and expect me to listen to it? They're a group with a lot of potential, with some brilliant vocalists and the talent that is Soyeon (who really loves being on this list, apparently) but if they continue down the path of using different cultures as concepts I can't support them any further.
The song itself has salvageable parts, a recurring theme on this list, but the over-the-top tribal influences are so obvious and tropey that even listening to it feels gross. (G)-Idle have more creative control than most groups, and the fact that they're capable of creating works of art like Lion is what makes me harsh on them. Instead of moving forward, they continue to regress into their comfort zone of cultural appropriation.
#2 YOOA - BON VOYAGE
Speaking of cultural appropriation...are we gonna address this? Nah? Okay.
Oh My Girl, YooA's parent group, has a history of blatant cultural appropriation (and arguably some legit racist moments depending on how you look at it) and they seem like they're not changing anytime soon. That's why this particular song stings even more than it probably should. If you thought Dumdi Dumdi's tribal influences were a little too on the nose, take a listen to this chorus.
YooA has a bad voice, is wearing tribal face paint, and is running around the wilderness whitewashed into oblivion while a choir of nameless voices chant vaguely tribal things behind her. Even in an industry like k-pop, this sticks out as something in bafflingly poor taste, and I can't see how she got away with this in 2020.
#1 BLACKPINK & SELENA GOMEZ - ICE CREAM
Well, this is a predictable pick.
I don't know why or how Blackpink thought they could get away with drip-feeding blinks content for 4 goddamn years in the lead-up to their first album, only to drop this big fat clunker on them. I honestly felt insulted by the song, from its cheap, tinny production to the god-awful lyrics. I don't know how anyone could find any value in a piece of music this soulless and hollow.
Lisa's raps are by far the worst part of it, with FIRE BARS such as "you're the one been chosen, play the part like moses" and "mona lisa kinda lisa". Unfortunately, these raps take up a good portion of the song, and there's nothing going on in the instrumental to distract you from them, save for that little ice cream truck jingle. (or at least I think that's what the producer was going for)
Selena is a non-presence and essentially blends in with the girls, who WAIL that awful hook like their lives depend on it. Also, there's some really cheesy innuendos here that're sung with all the sex appeal of the actual ice cream truck driver from literally your neighborhood.
I loathe what this song represents - the only good thing about it is that the girls look stunning in the MV. And that's exactly the thing - this song represents the exact moment in time wherein Blackpink admitted to their audience that music is no longer their main focus. This is the peak of their influencer-ization, and only time will tell if they'll redeem themselves. (Spoiler: They sort of did, goddammit.)

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰
ITZY: IT’z ME
TITLE SONG: WANNABE
it is really really catchy!! i immediately liked it after my first listen. it reminded me a lot of “dalla dalla”, like it has the same arrangement as “dalla dalla”. i really like the beginning of the song where it has the turning sound.
my favorite part is ryujin+chaeryeong rap part and lia’s “it’s none of your business, i do my own business”
MUSIC VIDEO
it’s probably my favorite mv they have produced so far. the scenes were all very pleasing to watch and love the solo scenes of the girls. my favorite scene would be lia’s and ryujin’s scenes. like, w o w
CHOREOGRAPHY
the choreography is amazing!!! ryujin has the entire world at her feet because of the shoulder move, which by the way I still cannot understand how it works
the point choreography of it is also really nice, the one there they circle their face with their hand and where they slide their hand across their chest when they sing “i wanna be me me me”
i absolutely love the dance break! it is definitely my favorite part of the dance
STAGE PRESENCE / STAGE OUTFITS
bro ryujin is literally killing this era. p e r i o d
also I can see that the girls have improved so much! especially lia! she’s gaining more and more confidence and it looks amazing on her. as usual, yeji’s stage presence is a m a z i n g. yuna has definitely improved as well. and so has chaeryeong!
my favorite outfits of them is the mv solo scenes outfits. i just think it really suits them. and i love love love how they’re trying new hairstyles this era, unlike “dalla dalla” and “icy”s era when everyone had almost the same hairstyle for every stage.
i love how they actually let yeji perform with her hair down instead of the usual ponytail and that they gave it to yuna lmao. seriously, the hairstyles for this era is really diverse. and of course ryujin’s iconic blue hair. and I really like chaeryeong’s hair this era idk why but I do
also I love the fact that their outfits are mostly pants, they look so much more comfortable performing in them + yeji with a jacket is pretty dangerous
also, has anyone noticed that Lia has gained some weight?? which is a good thing! halfway through “icy” era, lia lost a lot of weight and I’m really glad she had gained some weight this era!
ALBUM SONGS
i know ITZY’s concept is about self confidence and the songs are more upbeat but personally I’m not a fan of it all
the album itself is catchy and nice but for me, the songs aren’t the type of songs that I’ll play on repeat
out of all of the songs, i don’t really like “ting ting ting”. i just can’t seem to like, vibe(?) with it
but my favorites of the album is “nobody like you” and “you make me”
+ lia’s iconic “you make me... speechless!”
OVERALL
overall, i felt that this comeback was definitely an improvement for itzy in dance and vocal wise. I’ve watched a few of their mr removed ( by the channel “lyma” bc it’s the only one I trust ) and their all quite stable, I’m surprised how stable ryujin can be she does the shoulder move. like I said before, lia has improved a lot in this comeback, she’s like jihyo where their voices doesn’t fit their groups initial concept, but with time, lia can improve like how jihyo did. yeji is really stable and i can understand why she gets most lines. yuna has improved and chaeryeong has been quite stable since debut, so i think she could get more lines. my only complain is that I wished that chaeryeong was the center during the dance break, considering the fact that she’s the main dancer
NCT 127: NCT #127 NEO ZONE
TITLE SONG: 英雄;Kick It
fun fact! the Chinese word “英雄” in the title means “hero” which i think is quite fitting for this comeback’s concept.
i immediately for hooked on after the first listen, yes it's that catchy
lemme introduce you to some new thangs
as someone who learns taekwando, this is the song that u can work out to lmao. it's the fuel to ur flame and makes u wanna fight someone
also jungwoo baby!! he's back!! and bitch did he gREW I THINK HE'S ALMOST JOHNNY'S HEIGHT
the highlights: taeil's high note!!! yuta+haechan "baby we go wild, 127 squad"
also johnny!!! with lines!!
MUSIC VIDEO
I just really love the entire music video okay
it's martial arts!!! it's like my hobby!!
and bruce lee!! who doesn't love bruce lee?? i absolutely love this concept in general and the music video does justice
like all the martial arts reference and bruce lee reference!!
my favorite part is when they were all dancing in the rain lol and when like behind the doors u can see silhouettes of someone fighting
CHOREOGRAPHY
hnnnnnnnngggggggg
i cannot stress e n o u g h how much I love this choreography, especially the dance break!!! it's so satisfying to watch!!!
and mark's "fight" scene in it!! bro!!
this has definitely became one of my favourite nct dances along with "black on black" and "cherry bomb"
also the part where taeyong does his "enter the dragon", the kick he does is called a side kick and lemme tell u how much I hate doing that shit so props to taeyong for doing not only, but two of it in the dance
++ center!! haechan!! the way he just smoothly slides into the center lmao
STAGE PRESENCE / STAGE OUTFITS
despite taeyong, yuta and johnny's really rude outfits from the mv, those are one of my favourites actually. they look like fighter outfits that came out from a bruce lee movie
and the bomber jackets outfits!! please I want one so badly!!! bc I'm a sucker for bomber jackets lol
bro yuta's hair colour + belly piercing
that's *chef's kiss*
and haechan's mullet!! it looks good on him!! he better start growing an actual mullet or so help me-
stage presence *inhales* were so so so so amazing
nct just has amazing stage presence in general tbh
also, johnny lowkey looks scary in this comeback besides the fact that he's also a giANT
ALBUM SONGS
you know despite the scary album cover, 70% of the songs are soft af
and yes I like it
my favourites are "sit down!" and "boom"
johnny's "don't get up, don't stand up, please don't put your hand up, and don't make me tell you again. sit down!"
bro the difference between nct dream's "boom" and nct 127's "boom" tho
johnny's rap in "dreams come true" tho
and jaehyun's high note in "day dream"
OVERALL
overall, I'm really happy to stan nct and be enjoy the comeback lmao
but yeah I really like this comeback as u can tell lol
i wonder if they're gonna release a "kick it" english version
but to be honest, this era would've fit winwin so well like, winwin himself can do flips and shit and it would've fit him so well
ELRIS: JACKPOT
TITLE SONG: JACKPOT
okay I know that their comeback was in february but it was during late february and they promoted in march
and I finally know all of their names so u can write a proper review on them now lmao
so from what I understand, elris basically went m.i.a and came back with 2 new members
the song is definitely catchy and like I said, this is really solid group. they have a really good rap line and vocal line, plus they could all be main dancers and there's no visual hole
ej and chaejeong is a great addition to the group
plus hyeseong and sohee's vocals are!! really good!!
and bella's basically a triple threat y'all
MUSIC VIDEO
the music video is really aesthetic
i like it a lot lol
the gambling concept they have on is really nice to see
CHOREOGRAPHY
ah yes the choreography
the choreography is really fun tbh
i like the chorus part the best and yukyung's bow and arrow move in between the chorus
STAGE PRESENCE / STAGE OUTFITS
ej and bella has really strong stage presence and I've watched bella on mixnine a few times
and chaejeong's purple hair stood out as well.
the one who caught my eyes is yukyung
and for the vocals, I'm quite surprised to see that karin is only 17 years old, I thought she would've been older
i really like their outfits despite coming from a smaller company, it's all bling bling and classy
ALBUM SONGS
i just wanna say chaejeong has a good set of lungs lmao, her vocals in the b-sides is really good especially in "this is me"
the entire album gave me a bit of a video game vibe like cherry bullet's "Q&A"
maybe it's because the soundtrack is like, upbeat and strong at the same time
my favourite is "this is me" and "like I do"
"this is me" reminds me of blackpink's "forever young" bc they almost have the same arrangement
both of the songs are like upbeat girl crush kind of song with a strong beat drop for the dancebreak
OVERALL
overall, elris is definitely underrated but I have a feeling they will rise to fame like everglow, if only they debuted this year, they could've been like monster rookies.
AleXa: Do Or Die
TITLE SONG: Do Or Die
okay so i feel like a lot of the english lyrics felt a bit out of place,,, idk maybe it’s just me. i think the song is quite nice, like for a sci-fi concept, i thought it’d have more heavier edm/beat drop but it actually feels light and nice to listen to it. i really like the chorus of the song and when she said “I’m a one girl army”
MUSIC VIDEO
okay ngl, I zoned out from the song bc I was so immersed into the mv. like, it reminded me a lot of the movie “alita: the battle angel”.
also the cgi?? that’s some rlly good cgi lemme tell u that, the villain of the mv was rlly scary lmao
also I really like her fight scenes with the the bad guy
CHOREOGRAPHY
the choreography looks rlly complicated, and personally I feel like it doesn’t suit alexa?? like, I know she’s talented but she almost looked out of breath during her performance stages. the choreography looks like it suited a group song better cause alexa was constantly moving. she’s a solo artist and I feel like solo artists shouldn’t do such complicated choreography unless they have a really good control over their breathing and vocals
STAGE PRESENCE / STAGE OUTFITS
I really like her outfits, it suits her a lot, though I want to see alexa perform with her hair down
my favorite outfit of hers is the white outfit that she wore in the beginning of the mv
as for stage presence, she has good stage presence but I can see that there’s room for improvement. alexa is still quite new to the solo artist game, in time she can definitely improve on everything
OVERALL
overall, i feel like this is quite a powerful comeback. like I said, alexa needs to get a better control of her breathing. but other than that, i can see that she will be quite popular in the future.
SEJEONG: Plant
TITLE SONG: Plant
the song itself is so calming?? like, it’s the perfect song to listen if you want relieve stress or something. and her vocals are so beautiful and emotional. these type of songs fit her voice so much!!
MUSIC VIDEO
the mv is literally the definition of “plant aesthetic”
literally
it’s such a pleasing sight to watch and the mv itself is truly aesthetic
CHOREOGRAPHY
okay I know “plant” doesn’t have a choreography as expected but “swim away” does so
the choreography is so simple and it honestly fits the song. i also think that with the lack of an intense choreography, sejeong’s voice can be more clearly heard since “swim away” requires her to use falsetto a lot
so with a simple choreography, she can sing in falsetto without trouble
STAGE PRESENCE / STAGE OUTFITS
sejeong literally radiates emotions when she sings, when she performs “swim away”, there’s a playful and mischievous aura around her
when she sings “plant”, you can literally feel her raw emotion through her vocals
sejeong has the potential to be a really successful solo artist!! her voice basically suits almost any style, ranging from “semina” to “not that type”
her outfits for this is so cute, i love the white dresses she wears when she performs “plant” and her outfits for “swim away” is so so so so c u t e
ALBUM SONGS
feel stress? listen to the album
need to calm down? listen to the album
the entire album itself is calming and soft, like i have a playlist for soft/emotional songs and the entire album is in there
my favorite song of the album is “hopes for tomorrow”
if y’all have seen my post about songs where the music momentarily stops and just plays the idol’s vocals, yeah that song is exactly like that
it sent shivers down my spine when I first listened to it, seriously listen to it when you have the time cause it’ll be worth it
OVERALL
overall, this is a really nice comeback and one of my favorites for this month. sejeong really has potential to be a solo artist as big as chungha. and tbh, she should’ve went solo in the first place. she really reminds me taeyeon bc both artist produce very emotional songs. i don’t know gugudan is currently doing besides the fact that mina is still an mc, but sejeong really could blow up as a solo artist.
𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
KANG DANIEL: 2U
this song is so playful and mischievous lmao. the entire mv gave me a scooby-doo kinda vibe idk why, maybe it’s bc the guard was chasing them. the song itself is really catchy, like, the entire album is catchy. also I’m really glad that daniel can now perform his songs bc apparently he was almost banned from doing so(?)
ONG SEUNG WU: Gravity
bro I feel like ex produce members are making a comeback SKSKSK
this song is like, a parallel of sejeong’s song. it gave me the same vibe okay. it’s really sad okay, I like sad songs
the mv reminded me of that BTS webtoon, you guys should go read it btw, basically in the webtoon jin has to save all the members in a day to change the future but whenever a member dies, the day resets itself. in the mv, it looks like ong was trying to save the girl from drowning and whenever he failed, the day resets itself, which I found rlly cool btw
STRAY KIDS: Mixtape: On Track
my dudes, my only theory is that jeongin has a crush on hyunjin okay
bro changbin has a nice set of vocals, I stg the rap line is out to put the vocal line out of business lmao. the song gave me the same vibe as their ost from “extraordinary you”, both written by changbin, so basically, changbin is a romantic guy-
MCND: ICE AGE
okay ngl, I have mistakenly read the group’s name as McDonald’s way too many times
but nonetheless, I like the song
a lot
my favorite part is when the rap mentions the group members names, like yo that’s so cool wtf
also the group members are really young??? Win, the blue hair dude, is LITERALLY the same age as me wtf
FAVORITE: 또 LIE
( I can’t find a proper gif sksks )
these girls dropped “loca” and went missing since then lmao
“loca” is a bop tho
“lie” kinda has the same arrangement as “loca” and the same vibe with it
+ gaeul(?) the blonde, she’s really a full package, she can rap, sing, dance AND she’s the leader??? damn
also I love go ahra
WINNER: HOLD
hHHHHHH IM GONNA MISS JINWOO
I love love love love the song and the mv, their so funny wtf sksks literal crackheads. I’m also really happy that AKMU’s Suhyun was in the mv, it makes me feel happy knowing we get YG Artists interactions okay
jinu’s voice is usually really soft and stuff but his voice in this song made me went like: tHAT’S JINU???
anyways stan winner y’all
ONEUS: A Song Written Easily
tbh, I stanned ONEWE bc “regulus” is a fucking bop and now I might need to stand ONEUS. all I know is that I really like Hwanwoong’s voice and Leedo’s voice. and the rappers can sing too??? like nice that’s some Han Jisung kinda shit there. I really like the chorus of the song and someone said if “starry night” had a little brother, it would be “a song written easily”. which I 100% agree, and it’s also really suitable considering the fact oneus and mamamoo are from the same company. It also reminds me of a song that I can’t put my finger on???
SUHO: Let’s Love
I feel when your ascend to heaven, Suho’s voice is what you hear at the gates. My dude has been underrated for too long. Remember when I said I have an entire playlist for emotional/soft songs? Yeah Suho’s album is in there. My favorites are “O2” and “Starry Night”.

My fave Red Velvet songs (Girl group with the best B-sides)
WELCOME, FINALLY to the second part of my k-pop opinion series. Today I’m talking about everyone’s fave gg don’t you lie: Red Velvet!!! Plz enjoy~~
BAD BOY MV AAAAH!!! lol...
Automatic: The best song from their very first EP, Ice Cream Cake. The sexy vibe is really good, like their velvet side is my favourite of the two, I just like the style and smoothness of their vocals and the calm atmosphere it brings. The chorus is the best part with them all singing together, and the MV is so laid-back too it’s just them in a car for most of it which I love, it’s so random lol.
Campfire: Seriously, I don’t know what it is about this song, but I really like it. Also, can we appreciate Irene’s rap part? The first time I heard it I was blown away, aah I think she’s my bias, though I’ve never really had a solid bias for this group. Just a nice chill song with good vocals, as always.
Red Dress: The hype in this song is unreal, and the beat is very enjoyable to listen to. I like to listen to Red Dress if I’m feeling down because the energy in it is really something else.
Lady’s Room: Seulgi talking in the beginning pulled me in right away, even though I don’t know what she’s saying I feel like she’s inviting me to come over to her house for a drink, I dunno. But this is such a girl power song that is a shout out to your best friends. (And all the gals out there) I really like the cute attitude of the whole thing and the care-free spirit too!
Russian Roulette: I love the MV for this song, and the whole vibe of it overall. The seemingly cute appearance with a darker meaning, that’s what I like about a lot of red velvet songs, the girls seem innocent/meek/cute, but can be vicious and violent, as depicted in this MV when they literally try to KILL Seulgi lol.
Sunny Afternoon: A mostly unknown B-side, one that I love so so much, like I dunno how to explain it. I have listened to SA more times than I kinda wanna admit, it’s just a really catchy, perfect summer bop all about finding a cute guy to spend a nice afternoon with, teehee.
Zoo: My fave song from their first summer EP, it’s whacky, entertaining, and so much fun. Their summer vibes are just really unique to them, and this song shows it the best in my opinion. Plus Irene and Yeri’s rap parts before the final chorus just kill me in all the good ways.
Talk to me: This song has such Ariana Grande vibes, and I LOVE Ari, so of course I love this song. I always find a way back to this song, and I don’t know why it’s one of my faves from their Rookie EP, but it just is, I cannot really explain it.
Little Little: The soft emotions of this song are sweet to listen to, and the bass line kills so good! The girls’ vocals are actually strong but still soft and reserved at the same time I dunno how to explain it.
Bad Boy: ONE OF THEIR MOST ICONIC, KICK-ASS SONGS. I love Bad Boy so, so much, and all of the hype the MV got when it was first released was definitely deserved! The vocals are out of this world, like Wendy and Seulgi really stole the show in this song, they will never fail to disappoint me in terms of their vocal talent.
Sunny Side Up: SUNNY SIDE UP, SUNNY SIDE UP-UP! Ok, in all seriousness, the first listen automatically made it my fave song of their ReVe Festival Pt. 1 EP. Just, I don’t really need to explain it, all Reveluv adore this song, you can ask any of us and we’ll say this song SMASHES.
친구가 아냐 (Bing Bing): Similar to Red Dress in the sort of hype feeling you get when listening to it, it’s super catchy and a great listen, a super underrated song that honestly deserved a lot more than it got, I dunno it just does deserve more!
So Good: My fave song from their Really Bad Boy EP, I know many people din’t really like this EP that much, but this song really got to me. All 5 of the members’ vocals shine really well and the instrumental is a BOP.
Butterflies: BUTTERFLIES BUTTERFLIES. The cute vibe of this song and the breathtaking atmosphere really did pull me in the first listen. I’dd have to say the best part of this song was Irene and Yeri’s rap parts, yes, just that, damn I’m really starting to think Irene is my bias now lol.
Perfect 10: This song is super sexy, like that’s the one word that constantly comes to mind when listening to P10. I just cannot get over their second studio album that is Perfect Velvet, it’s just too amazing and choosing my faves was actually kinda hard, but that’s why like half of the songs are on this list cause I have too many faves.
My Second Date: The feeling I get from listening to this song is one I will probably never have irl (I’m almost 20 and STILL have never had a boyfriend, lol) but it was still a great listen, the producers know what they’re doing man. The instrumental is energetic and enjoyable!
Look (봐): Bwa, bwa, bwa~ The vocal line honestly killed it with this song, the late 90s early 2000s dance feeling I get from Look is honestly so iconic and it’s just a bop in all the right ways. Irene and Yeri’s vocals were even super smooth and amazing also, so there’s that.
Kingdom Come: The first part by Irene automatically made this one of my absolute faves of their second studio album. Kingdom come is so, so iconic, from the vocals, hypnotic vibe, and amazing instrumental, just, ugh so good!!!
About Love: Joy honestly stole the show with this one, her vocals AND rap part are my fave parts of the song and the meaning is super cute, and even if this is from their velvet album I still get kind of red vibes cause this song sounds a little more innocent than some other Perfect Velvet tracks.
THE ENTIRE IRENE/SEULGI EP, PERFECTION!!! This iconic duo’s debut was just out of this world honestly, and all of the songs are probably in my fave RV songs. Though imo: Monster < Naughty. Hee hee.
Yes, enjoy my spiral of realising that Irene is now officially my bias lol. That’s my opinions about my fave Red Velvet songs, all done! Like I said with my Ateez post, this is my opinion and if your fave RV song isn’t here plz don’t get mad cause this is MY OPINION. Reveluv are a pretty chill fandom though so I’m not too worried about anything, anyways thx for reading this if you are, xxx, - Misty.

Hi Rain!! So sorry this feedback is kinda late, I just feel I needed to really do October 1865 justice cus it was hands down one of my favorites thus far!!! The whole thing, from beginning to end, was so thoughtfully written. Like when she finally dons the pink hanbok and is inspecting her appearance in the mirror and wishing her mom was there for advice/guidance really hit hard. Like she really is all alone in this great big palace with no family and minimal friends. And I find that I’m always
PLS DON’T APOLOGIZE & TAKE ALL MY LOVE INSTEAD AHHHHH 💖💖
rooting for our dear mc, she feels like an underdog to me. Quiet, demure, poised, low ranking, but incredibly sweet and giving. “So far, you’ve begrudgingly won a few scraps of respect from the male physicians, and it’s a start.” LIKE YES GIRL GET IT. And when Yoongie comes to her door to get her?!? The equivalent of a man getting out of the car and walking to your door to pick you up on your date. LOVED IT.
WAIT I DIDNT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THIS BUT UR RIGHT LMAOOOO
And the description of his appearance was perfectly detailed- I can imagine exactly what he looks like!! Well done. He truly is “unfathomably handsome.” I especially enjoyed the lil tidbit of the two of them looking suitable for each other despite their marked difference in social status and rank. As if, at least for the night, they’ll look like they belong together. It warms my heart. I love that this Yoongi is still lighthearted with the way he jokes with Eunuch Kim. It’s so nice to see him like this, but continues to make me wonder what else happened to him to change him so drastically???
*slow, calculating laughter here* heheh i’m glad u enjoyed the clothing bits though! that’s one of my favorite aspects of the history to research :’)
Her excitement to see the Chuseok festivities is so palpable, and when she realizes “oh god, you just made the prince run” I WAS CACKLING HAHAH and the Jinkook appearace!!!!!!!!!! I WAS HOWLING. I love that you kept the basic appearance of the two from the mv. What a creative way to weave them into the story!!! “the bearded one looks about seconds away from giving the other younger man a good smack with the fishing rod leaning on the wall behind him.” HAHAHA SCREEEEEAM their competitiveness and banter is perfectly written!!! “Yah, you can take your beans and shove them right up your nasty sokgot… I’ll take two orders of each. Preferably not ones shoved anywhere.” I’M ACTUALLY DYING. The dialogue here is hilarious!!
me: sobbing because humor is so hard & you are so kind T_T
And the way Yoongi passes off the treats to mc and Eunuch Kim!! And when they get mistaken as a couple by her mother’s old friend?!? CLASSIC. I’ve found that old ladies literally give no fucks. I had a patient who would thirst over the same co-worker that I did (and yk, fair, cus he looked like an older, taller JK) She was shameless about it and I wanna be her when I get older haha
FDSLKDAFS MOOD I WOULD TOO HAHAHAA have u SEEEN JUNGKOOK LATELY??? that BUN? THE SHEER SHIRTS? im D E A D. PHEWW. but seriously old ladies never change, no matter the era HAHAH
ok, but one of the best parts is Eunuch Kim losin his cool over Chun-ja. The way he nearly drops his jeon and is soooo flustered has me so heart eyed for him. I’m so happy to finally be meeting this lucky woman who has ensnared our beloved Eunuch Kim’s heart!! And those letters?! Ugh, I am so fond of hand-written letters. They’re so nostalgic and personal and no one seems to do it anymore.
heh i’m glad u like letters because-- oop i wont say anything more ;)
Don’t think I didn’t notice that Yoongi chose the bracelet she was eyeing. But are we gonna see him give it to her?? Or does he just secretly have it slipped into her room, cus that would be SUCH a yoongi thing to do. My favorite part though, if I HAD TO CHOSE, was probably the ending scene at the pond. I feel like this is the first time they’ve had the chance to have a REAL conversation. And how her theory that some things in the world are out of their control but can change in their favor if they never give up. Seems like it parallels their predicament perfectly.
you may be the only person who’s picked up on that conversation FDASLJKAS but yes, it truly is ;-; i absolutely adore those quiet moments between the two of them & writing this one was... phew a ride and a half. there’s a lot of subtext there 🤣
But I need to know!!! WHAT DID THEY WISH FOR?!
iono 🤭 (youll find out later)
Ugh sweet Yoongi is killing me. I love him, but damn knowing what he’ll become in the next few years has me heart broken. As always, well done Rain. What a chapter to come home to after a long weekend of work!! I’m so appreciative of your writing. Your page is always such a safe and comforting space. Your positivity and kindness really reinforce my idea that you’re a wonderful human being. I hate that you had rude ass anons leaving their trash comments in your asks. As King Yoongi would say, “they’re peasants!” fuck the haters, bubs, and keep shining. You’re a fantastic writer, and I hope that you keep writing what inspires you, and deliver it the way you want!! I know I’ve said it before, but I feel I need to say it again, but I LOVE the way you decided to present MLT. I LOVE the drabbles and the timeline. It’s unique and fresh and will always remind me of MLT. ILYSM, Rain!! As always, please accept all my love and adoration!
sighhh you are so so so lovely. thank you for taking all this time out of your busy life to send me this. it just warms my entire heart. please don’t worry abt my anons; they’ve actually been pretty nice!! i havent ever had a mean anon ever in my inbox or anyone purposefully being cruel in my comments so my frustration was more at seeing how my friends are contiuously disrespected for providing their FREE content. AGH. and they get rebuked if they reply with annoyance, which they deserve to do after being pestered over and over again!!! someone said they had 20 asks in their inbox asking for updates and AGGGGHHH !!! that makes me wanna tear those anons a new one. but anyway. it’s wonderful people like you that keep us going & i wish i had a better way of giving you my gratitude because it doesn’t feel like enough. thank you 😭💗 pls take this happy boy and i hope you have the fantastic day you deserve!!!!

My thoughts about folklore
Cardigan MV: MAGICAL, the water scene? So cool, I love the piano being the lifeline
The 1: piano? I love her,, TAYLOR SAYING SHIT,, chill vibes, lover but like this love kind of, “roaring 20s tossing pennies in the pool” , “if my wishes were true it would’ve been you,,” I love the background vocals, the lyricism are incredible. “The greatest loves of all time are over now” “in my defense I HAVE NONE” background vocals again! Bridge! Persist and resist?
Cardigan: percussion in the back? second part of first verse talking about rep? Levi’s and the iiiiii part? Hand under my sweatshirt?? miss TAYLOR! the BRIDGE, “stars around my scars but now I’m bleeding” the parts about knowing what would happen, the sweetness of nostalgia
The Last Great American Dynasty: tension——the DRUM beat, upbeat? This is a story? Feeling like starlight, who is this about? Is this that mad woman from the later bit? Pool in champagne, like TIWWCHNT! It’s picking up! I kind of really like the chorus, like really really like it. MARVELOUS is my new favorite word I think
Exile: piano! And this is a feature, so chill, like I want to float in a pool with this playing like the feeling of contentment this is giving me.”I think I’ve seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending” the bridge, is so cool and it’s very pretty, Taylor’s voice is so so so pretty in this, very like the chorus after the bridge in Treacherous. “We always walked a very thin line” HAUNTED REFERENCE
My tears ricochet: the background! And it stops! It’s traveling earbud to earbud! Why do I feel like I’m going to cry? “Even on my worst day, did I deserve all the hell you gave me...I loved you...til my dying day” Cold as You who? “Same jewels I have you as you buried me” the word and imagery of this ALBUM “CURSING MY NAME WISHING I STAYED” YES YOU CAN GO WHERE YOU WANT “BUT JUST NOT HOME” OH MY GOD I-“BUT NOW IM SCREAMING AT THE SKY” “YOULL HEAR MY STOLEN LULLABIES” I love this “BATTLESHIPS” AND IT PICKS UP “you had to kill me but it KILLED YOU JUST THE SAME” good god this song is so good like
Mirrorball: please man I need a pick me up,, 70S VIBES FROM THE VOCALS, what is a mirror ball? Ah, thank you Taylor. “Hush, when no one is around my dear” is so pretty “on my tallest tiptoes, spinning my highest heels, love, shining just for you” so pretty the vocals on that part. “I CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING ABOUT ME JUST TO FIT IN” yes taylor you ARE A DISCO BALL GET INTO IT 💃🏼 SHINING JUST FOR YOU is so happy it makes me so happy, this is such like a happy song but like at the same time so freaking sad, so bittersweet
Seven: Aw this is so sweet, ah the snaps in the back is so cute! This is about her childhood! How cute!! “SWEET TEA IN THE SUMMER CROSS YOUR HEART CANT TELL NO OTHER” SLAPS this the second VERSE oh my god I’m gonna cry from that “why your dads always mad...you won’t have to cry” “I love you to the moon and Saturn” 🥺
August: chill and beachy vibes from the lyrics,!! THE CHORUS! AH! LOVE IT! “Cuz it was never mine” “CUZ YOU WERE NEVER MINE” “for me it was ENOUGH TO LIVE FOR THE HOPE OF IT ALL” “CUZ YOU WERE MINE TO LOSE” is so beautiful!! Yes taylor bring back the OUTRO yesss outros make me so damn happy “meet me behind the mall” “cancelling my plans just in case you called” STRINGS IN THE BACK I REPEAT STRINGS IN THE BACK IM SO HAPPY I LOVE ORCHESTRAL THINGS
This is Me Trying: ooooooh I like it so far the beat and instrumentation “but I’m here in your doorway” THAT WAS FROM BEFORE IN THE ALBUM (I’m too tired to remember which song but IT WAS THERE IM NOT SLEEP DEPRIVED) “at least youre trying” sounds HEAVENLY DIVINE IMMACULATE MARVELOUS the movie references! That was a thing! THAT WAS A THING! “At least I’m trying✨”
Illicit Affairs: guitar! Guitar! Taylor! With a guitar! “Ends with meetings in parking lots” “born with just a single glance but it dies and it dies and it dies a million little times” leaving no trace behind? Oooh is she the other woman or something man this is sad
“LOOK AT THIS GODFORSAKEN MESS YOU MADE ME” “LOOK AT THIS IDIOTIC FOOL YOU MADE ME” “and you know damn well for you I would ruin myself” the pain, the anguish, death by a thousand cuts
Invisible String: interesting backing, we’re doing some fun rainbows,, I love how “clues” sounds I want that repeated until my death, ahahahaha Taylor yes reference yourself, SHE SAID I LOOKED LIKE AN AMERICAN SINGER; dive bar? Delicate who? Too many references that this isn’t about her and joe, DEEP BLUE BUT YOU PAINTED ME GOLDEN!
Mad Woman: please tell me this is about the last great American dynasty? Or is it an allusion to the Kanye and the scooter stuff? TAYLOR SAYS FUCK! AH! “And you find something to wrap your noose around” and also the piano? can you tell yet that I like piano? “AND WOMEN LIKE HUNTING WITCHES TOO” omg THIS IS about KANYE AND KIM, IDSB, THIS IS ABOUT KANYE AND KIM. “COUPLE SIDE THINGS” THROW THAT SHADE THROW IT THROW IT THROW IT! MAATHBP but like make it about 2016s snakegate
Epiphany: track 13! SO CHILL, SO CHILL, LOVE THIS, LOVEEEEEE LOVE LOVE LOVE, LOVE LOVE LOVE. The vibes are IMMACULATE, the LYRICS, love it love it LOVE IT. WHAT oh my GOSH this is high key so SAD “DOC I THINK SHES CRASHING” DONT DIE NO ‘only 20 minutes to sleep?’ WHAT DOES IT MEAN? “Watch you bleeding OUT” NO, the background vocals I love this though, good god, HEARTBEAT BACKGROUND MY GOD NO THEYRE GONNA DIE ARENT THEY? It’s fading? Are they dying? Am I reading this wrong? Idc I love it
Betty: this is written with that William guy who doesn’t exist. HARMONICA, folkkkkkkk. “The worst thing that I ever did was what I did to you” HOLY SHOOT, mentioning summer! is this the guy that CHEATED? OH NO THE POOR OTHER GIRL AND POOR BETTY THIS IS SO SAD also the guiTAR! KEY CHANGE KEY CHANGE KEY CHANGE! oh my god the CARDIGAN,
Peace: ooh I’m anxious. THE GUITAR RIFF? Love IT, “If your cascade, ocean wave blues come//All these people think love's for show//But I would die for you in secret” “sit with you in the trenches” GIVE YOU A CHILD? SEE YOUR BROTHER AS MY BROTHER, THIS IS ABOUT TAYLOR AND JOE :))))) “you have a friend in me” vs “it’s nice to have a friend”. She could never give him peace because she’s a celebrity obviously, which is what I think this about
Hoax: last song on standard,, PIANO? LYRICS? I’m literally not even going to list them they’re all beautiful, but the vocals on “Stood on the cliffside screaming, ‘Give me a reason’ Your faithless love's the only hoax I believe in” slight of hand? Card sharks playing games? please this is so sad, she sounds so SAD in the BRIDGE god, “but what you did was just as dark”
The Lakes: how do I listen to it? Lmao can’t find it and I’m tired
Wow Taylor outdid herself with the lyrics on this album, absolutely incredible, and the vibe is so chill but like sad and it’s like if Safe and Sound and Lover (the album) had a baby, but like with the sad songs on red, like Sad Beautiful Tragic fits right in here. Anyways I love it to pieces. Good night y’all 💗

Best of the First Half of 2020
As June is coming to a close, it’s time to talk about the best of this first half of 2020. We’re going to talk about the best of each month and of course I will tell you about my honorable mentions.
Disclaimer: These are my opinions! I have no intention to diss anyone or start any fanwars. However, if you think I left someone off this list, let me know. I am always down to discover new stuff!
January - 2YA2YAO by Super Junior
Now, we have to show respect to one of the pioneers of the K-pop we know and love now. I didn’t start listening to Super Junior until a few years ago and now I don’t understand how I could love SM Family without knowing their music.
The song was FIRE! It was written Zico and you can still here some of his adlibs in the background. But SuJu killed it! The choreo, the visuals, and the vocals were all on point. No one can say that they are getting to old for this industry because every comeback is AMAZING!
Honorable Mentions:
Answer by ATEEZ
Dear Me by Taeyeon
February - Dun Dun by Everglow
Now I was shocked that this was my top pick for Februray (especially since BTS dropped a gem of an album). But Everglow gave me a pleasant surprise with this ABSOLUTE BOP! Now I like their debut and “Adios” was OK in my book, but “Dun Dun” exceeded all my expectations. I loved the girl power feel that they bring and the choreography always has a complex simplicity.
Normally when I see Everglow, no one in particular stands out to me. But this song definitely highlight Mia’s skills! Her dance solo in the MV and in the different music show performances gave me life! I love this song and I never skip it to this day when it comes up on shuffle.
Honorable Mentions:
Map of the Soul: 7 by BTS (YES THE ENTIRE ALBUM)
So What by Loona
Dr. Bebe by Pentagon
March - Wannabe by Itzy
Everyone knows this move by now! It really is their best song so far. I am a JYP stan so I have so much love for Itzy. The video was really fun and interesting to watch. The girls were showing us looks. Ryujin’s hair...enough said.
I honestly just love the central theme for Itzy about being true to yourself. It’s a fun song with a great message. Especially coming from Korea, where from an outside perspective can be bit uniform. Even my mom, who isn’t crazy about K-pop, thought it was a great song.
Honorable Mentions:
Kick It by NCT 127
Neon - DPR Live
2U by Kang Daniel
April - Not By The Moon by Got7
(First, I know this gif is from Poison, but it’s the same era so fight me.)
Anyway, this comeback really just highlighted how Got7 is maturing into a group of men. We got a taste of that maturity in “You Calling My Name” but this song... this was some next level type stuff. The entire groove of this song was powerful and strong, but the choreography was graceful and intricate.
Also, this era really just slayed me. JB’s long hair, Silver hair Bam Bam, Youngjae’s vocals, Jinyoung’s booty I’m just kidding not really though. It was just an all around great comeback from Got7. 5 star Uber rating!
Honorable Mentions:
Nonstop by Oh My Girl
Dumhdurum by Apink
Bazooka! by GWSN
May - Daechwita by Agust D
AGUST D!! He came back! He slayed! He killed! Honestly, I think I liked this mixtape better than his last one. The music video really combined the contemporary style with the traditional elements in the most beautiful way. Agust D always has bars and his timing for this mixtape was a great way to give his fans something to uplift them.
The music video was captivating and hilarious. Jin and JK’s cameo was a fun spin and kept to the pattern of BTS rap line involving the members in their projects. The power of this song really shook me and you can’t help but get hype whenever you hear it.
Honorable Mentions:
Candy by Baekhyun
Zombie by Day6
Punch by NCT 127
June - More & More by Twice
I LOVE TWICE! I was so happy for this comeback. I was happy they got a small break, but it was great to get new music from them. Plus OT9!! Mina came back for this bop. Twice is best when they are together and having Mina back brought a clear light back to the girls and their performances.
Some people thought this song was a bit lackluster because the chorus was more EDM than Twice normally does. But I liked it. They couldn’t keep the same vibes for their whole career. It’s been 5 years since their debut so I welcome the change and growth. (Maybe eventually we will get some solos, just because I’m curious about that too)
Honorable Mentions:
How You Like That by Blackpink
Left & Right by Seventeen
Maria by Hwasa
And that’s it. My “Best of the First Half of 2020″ list. I hope you enjoyed and feel free to push back on some of my opinions or tell me if you think I missed anyone.
Also I planned on talking about K-pop, K-drama, and K-fashion on here. But I am also teaching myself Korean and have been for the past 4 years. Let me know if you guys want that kind of content too. See ya next time! :D

What are some of your favorite bands? Maybe a good 10 or 15 if you need a number, or maybe some song recommendations? I need some stuff to get into and my taste's been pretty flat for a while and I'm looking for some better stuff! Thank you!!
OKAY AWESOME- I will not rank them bc my brain doesn’t do that. I jump every like 15 mins on what my favorite is SO HERES A NICE LIST OF BANDS WITH SOME SONGS!!! Links as well to youtube/SC bc I love u and want to make it easier afdsgfd I’m listing bands that are “easier” to listen to ig because I don’t know your entire taste. I will, however, pull you into my side of screaming through conditioning and have listed a few to see if you’re chill with it. Bolded is the TLDR version with links if you need it and I speak way too much!
1. The Faint Endless, while currently only on soundcloud, they are coming to spotify soon!! My favorite song of theirs is Celestial Revenge, which happens to have a music video!! I also like We Were Once Invincible and Requiem but G*D I LOVE ALL OF THEM They are… such a fucking inspiration to me and the music I want to make in the future. I try to make everyone listen to them so tbh if you wanna know me listen to them they fuck
(The rest of these you can find on spotify btw)
2. I am going to assume if you follow me you listen to My Chemical Romance, BUT if you don’t here’s some song recs that have different feels they will give you: House of Wolves, Vampire Money, You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison, Demolition Lovers, and Boy Divison but this list could go on for hours…. There’s so much to list and I couldn’t stop…..It’s for you to find and for you to feel.
3. The Used is super high up on my list! Shame they’re not as popular on here like MCR, like y’all missed 2004 (me too I wasn’t even split then but shhhhhhhhhh i know my history). Really depends on the mood you’re in because they’re either bangers or Sucidical Moments tbh so fair warning. Really got into them when life was super shitty, but they have a lot that aren’t always imma kms. If you’re up for loud shit there is The Back of Your Mouth which I’ve been blasting for a week. Choke Me is good if you wanna hear someone scream “fuck my ass” over and over while you feel dead inside lmao. If you want something more themed for this blog there’s Wake The Dead, although I feel like the mid part ruins it tbh. I want to cover it so I can make it go hard the entire time. I’d recommend the full album Lies For The Liers to get started.
4. If you like Vocaloid and want it in English and like horror then check out GHOST, or Ghost and Pals on spotify. Some of my favorites are Those Who Carried On, Honey I’m Home, and Entomologists, but there’s so much more that is amazingly themed.
5. Red Vox is also really good, but I’d recommend staying away from their album Vomit in the Ballpit because it’s just gross-out humor and I’m not into that. For my oc Franklin I think his voice would sound like Vin’s. They’re releasing a new album soon which I’m excited for, and they released one song early which is Why Can’t This Be Easy. Other songs I really enjoy are: Kerosene (I recommend the album of that same name too def one I use to calm down some nights), Memories Lie, Hazy, and Stranded (if you’re down for a 9 min space themed/star trek downer). I really enjoy their music and it’s another inspiration to me even if the music is a lot more chill. Their music has really calmed me down some nights and I’m thankful.
6. Will Wood and the Tapeworms is good if you just wanna go “oh my god I’m so mentally ill. I am going to break something. Fuck, I can’t remember 2012” Maybe that’s just me though- Anyways, Hand Me My Shovel, I’m Going In! is a banger and good for this blog, and the mv is a mess so its perfect, and absolutely what my mind looks like. Also Dr. Sunshine Is Dead is for this blog. Actually the entire album. Honestly, just listen to the entire album Self-Ish. It’s not great if you’re feeling bad bc its gunna have you screamin’ “I WANT MY MURDER TO LOOK LIKE A SUICIDE” but it’s so good, dude. I’m obsessed. You gotta listen to it in order to get the full effect. Highly recommended if you’re okay enough to do it.
7. Mother Mother, aka mentally ill central, babie. They are an experience. Vauagely horny, drugged up and craving death or something worse? It’s all there! Calm Me Down is blatantly horny, but a jam and an experience, which I recommend the entire album it came off of as a starting place. The Cry Forum is really good, but I always forget the ending has a poem in german. Back To Life is amazing too and I really vibe with it.
8. Bayside is another really good band and amazing and cheaper fuck you Ticketmaster to see live. Some dick groped me in the pit and a punk punched the shit out of him and protected me the rest of the night and made sure my short ass could still see. The girl I went with got a drum stick handed to her. They’re amazing. Feeling shitty, ex-relationship problems and some Christian guilt mixed in! I highly recommend their latest album, Interrobang. Numb and Prayers are good on that. I feel like I have to recommend Sick Sick Sick and Devotion and Desiresince I’m pretty sure it’s their biggest songs.
9. The Vincent Black Shadow! I don’t even know how I found them tbh. Stupid Intruders is something I blast a lot. Metro is relatable, unfortunately. The House of Tasteful Men is very 👌 I die. They need more recognition…..
10. Halestorm! Female led metalish rock is very good. Very Vent-y songs for me, but very good and sexy. I Miss The Misery is very popular for good reason/ You Call Me A Bitch Like It’s A Bad Thing, Freak Like Me and Killing Ourselves To Live are definitely my favorites. Also a big inspo to me as someone with a feminine voice/presenting that wants to sing!
I’m kinda foggy right now so ten is my max! Hope you enjoy

august favorites.
OH MY GOODNESS i am realizing at the end of september that i never did post this. well dang it’s better late than never.
it is once again time for another rewind. i am starting my new job as an official registered nurse, so i packed in as many movies and dramas as i could into the start of the month. and i am still watching a few on-air dramas that i am loving.
music.
BTS answer comeback. these boys really came for my heart when they gave us the full versions of my fave vocalists songs. this whole album was incredible and i am so proud of them. i am hoping to make this its own post bc i cannot contain all my feelings in this rewind with regards to BTS answer. our boys were just so freaking extra in this mv, and i loved every second of it.
power up by red velvet. of course we got the red side to red velvet. the first listen it was an ‘oh no no’ but now whenever i hear that ba-ba-na-na it just gets me up and dancing. gotta love everything and anything these girls do!
we go up by nct dream. these boys be sneaking into my nct bias list. i seriously fell in love with this song upon first listen. it is a bop and i am so freaking in love with this song it is on every and any playlist i have. that line distribution though 10 out of 10! they are all such little cuties and i love them with my whole heart. lil precious beans.
just look at mark in his last comeback with nct dream. *tear*
there were so many stellar stills in this mv, like everyone be looking like a model having the time of their lives. example a:
astro. like anything and everything. i have officially decided to stan these 6 precious boys. and i am so happy that i did. all of their songs are great, and i appreciate their fresh vibe.
killing me by ikon. these boys like seriously never chill. they are always coming at us with those hardcore bad boy vibes. seriously such a bop and i love screaming these lyrics, and that breakdown has such a drop and it’s incredible.
bobby once again slayed my existence. just look at this man.
and can hanbin just chill, like ever. he is coming for me and my bias list.
dramas & movies. *spoiler alert*
little forest. i loved this film. it was very relaxed and passive. it was a snapshot into hye won’s life. from the countryside to city, back to her own little forest. it was a lovely dynamic film, it was calming and the OST was on point. it was all about the little joys of life and finding her own harmony and place in this world. i really loved the relationship between her and jae-ha. since the ending was ambiguous which is exactly what i expected from this indie film, i hope that it was her long awaited mother’s return. and that she ended up with a happy ending being with jae-ha. i rate it a 9 out of 10.
this film made me realize how much i missed ryu jun-yeol! the last thing i watched with him was reply 1988 and that was waaaaayyyy too long ago! i also love kim tae-ri as i am currently watching mr. sunshine and she is a fabulous actress. adding her to my favorites list!
a werewolf boy. this one was interesting. a new take on the beauty and the beast fairytale. i appreciated the acting from both my faves song joong-ki and park bo-young. it was great to see the origin of these talented people. i also loved seeing the bad side of one of my faves in the reply series, yoo yeon- seok. if only they could have been happy together. he was only protecting her. i enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. this was a great film, i loved the whole premise of the flashback from the grandmother, so titanic. the waterworks really hit in the end credits as he was making the snowman, which was the book he was to read to her once he learned to talk which he was able to do 6 decades later. i rate this a 9 out of 10 i loved it~ uwu
one of the many moments i bawled my eyes out.
architecture 101. this was a great film, and i can see why it is such a highly recommended kmovie. i enjoy a good flashback second chance romance. there was a lot happening in this one, and lines to follow. i love seung-min’s personality, he was so sweet and kind to her. jung-suk my man, i loved him in my annoying brother and he did not disappoint in this one. the ending was real ambiguous, and i don’t appreciate. it definitely was not one of those make you feel good romantic movies. so they both let go of their first love in the end, and he ran away to the states and she ran away to jeju. great communication in this film, no repressed feelings at all. (i hope everyone can sense the sarcasm in that statement) it was truly a recipe made in drama heaven. i rate this classic a 7 out of 10.
come and hug me. i loved this drama, i had to wait a while for it to come to standard subscription viki but it was worth the wait. of course, there was childhood trauma and seriously scary scenes that i was not expecting from the cute and misleading instagram clips that i saw of the two main leads. but i kept with it and i would give this drama an 8.5 out of 10. the child actors that they got to play the younger versions were absolutely incredible and their skill, talents, and abilities surpass that of the typical child you see in dramas and i was continually blown away by them.

KPOP SONGS! Part 2/?
So I thought I’d make a list of the songs in my „kpop“ playlist and write a little about them because I’m bored. These are supposed to be chronological, but after looking at the list I’m not so sure about it also because I love to buy music in bulks.
PT.1
THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS/EXPERIENCES TAKE IT WITH A PINCH OF SALT AND DON’T KILL ME!
Also write me if you wanna chat about it :D
ZUTTER - GD & T.O.P:
This song is a little scary tbh, apart from the badass vibes
I always loved T.O.P’s deep ass voice and with GD’s high pitched rap it’s just perfect
The MV is funny, creepy and a bit fucked up but what did we expect honestly :D
They rhyme aLOT in this song which makes it really interesting to listen to
made me addicted to the GD & T.O.P combination
…..ZUTTER!
THE BADDEST FEMALE - CL:
It took me a while to understand that this isn’t a solo version of „I’m the best“
It’s the queen saying she’s a bad bitch so you know it’s a banger
As almost all CL songs this is good to let off steam and regain your badass level after someone pissed you off
The MV is a sexual awakening on it’s own and performances of that song are also definitely worth a watch
„Not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good you know?“
Perfect to practice bitch drops and feel yourself to
Burning Up (Fire) - BTS:
So I don’t really listen a lot to it but I still like it
Has all kinds of badass vibes and I like the soft breaks in-between
RM’s part is by far my favourite his deep voice is so satisfying
The MV is also really cool
You can see from previous songs I had a badass song phase (I still have this phase, I love badass songs) where I only took badass kpop songs seriously
Growl - EXO:
Okay, so I sometimes forget about this song haha
A good song that screams SM to be honest which I always thought was not that much the case with other EXO songs
The dance to this is really satisfying to watch and was probably the reason I bought this song
It shows EXO’s excellent vocals, has a nice feel and is easy to listen to
Quite an early song too
I love that you could potentially dance really hard to this but still is very soft
Instantly recognisable and also a kpop classic I would say
GOOD BOY - GD & Taeyang:
Is this a kink? This is a kink right?
An awesome song i have bopped to a million times
I really love the „pretty/good boy“ trope and who is better for that then our bad boys™️ GD and Taeyang?
Their voices sound a bit alike and I sometimes had trouble differencing them….whoops
The dance is so so good and the MV is such an accurate representation of these two freaks
God I just love them and miss them so much
I am the best (JP. Ver) - 2ne1:
Welcome to another round of Aki isn’t capable of differencing Japanese and Korean lol
I must say I prefer this version though, I recently bought the korean version and it’s just not the same I got so used to the english parts lol
This is also a classic, bow to the queens of badass girl group songs!
The MV made me fall in love with CL and the gang
„It’s 2 in the morning our bodies getting freaky, the beats bumping loud but this boy keeps talking! I can’t really hear him but I think he’s saying he loves me? Put his number on this paper but i throw it like frisbee, huh?“
I C O N I C this song raised me, fed me, dressed me and gave me the kick in the butt I needed.
Oh my god!
BOOMBAYAH - BLACKPINK:
Why of course after discovering 2ne1 BP wasn’t far behind
Recently showed this MV to a non kpop friend of mine and she drooled over all of them soooo, you can do that
Loved this song the second it started and love dancing violently to it
I now, btw, also own the whole album but it took me a bit to get into them (I was in girl group denial, don’t be like me show them girls some love!)
OPPA!
Being only four really makes it possible for all of them to shine, the vocals are clean and pretty but raspy enough to fit the concept and Jennie and Lisas raps are perfect as always
The beat is easy as is the whole song, doesn’t get annoying and is just a bop.
Fantastic Baby - BIGBANG:
Nananananananana wow, fantastic baby!
Well well well if it isn’t history right there
Watch the MV, listen to the song! It’s mandatory to know this I’m sorry I don’t make the rules
Danceable, walkable just all in all go crazy(-able)
Boomshakalaka!
A bit poppy so maybe not for everyone as it sounds a lot like stuff that is randomly on the radio
A dance song that probably was never intended to be more than that. Typically YG, a bit flatter than Bang Bang Bang
I’m repeating myself but you know I heard it’s also something non kpop people enjoy (Basically show them all of BIGBANG, lol)
Ice cream cake - Red Velvet:
Oh boy! My first Red Velvet song that I have because the refrain was stuck in my head and I wanted to know what it was
There’s way more RV later on but for now I think it was the only song
As I said I was in denial of girl groups that didn’t have a badass concept which was soooo dumb!
I love the song, it’s cute and easy to listen to
I love RV’s kinda cute-creepy concept and with the music box in the background it feeds into my liking very easily
I have moved on from it though after discovering other songs from them so I don’t listen to it as often
„I scream, you scream, gimme that, gimme that ice cream!“
Sherlock (Clue + Note) - SHINee:
I have known this song for years! Back when my best friend was into kpop and told me all about SHINee I looked into it, Youtube gave me this song and I instantly clicked. Didn’t like it clicked away and didn’t touch it for 5 years
Well now I love it and can’t stop dancing when it’s on
„SHINees back….“
The MV is confusing but god they’re all so cute in it! Taemin looks so adorable with long hair!
I have watched the dance practice about 100x times and you should too! (jk)
„Tonight, SHINee’s in da house! So give it up for SHINee!“
And as much as I love SHINee’s vocal squad and they’re great in this, Key and Minho really do it for me in this song
The song lives from the dance and the performance and makes it 10x better
It’s also good for just listening though but not really calm and casual so be prepared to break out into sudden song
„Oh I’m curious, yeah!“ (Is it noticeable that I’m listening to it while I write? probably not.)
Breaking News - SHINee:
And my struggle with japanese songs continues haha
„Come on break down the walls!“
I really like this song though, especially the refrain it’s so much fun
It’s also really danceable (as I think every SHINee song is, I mean have you seen them dance?)
Partly really dramatic (slay Onew slay), partly badass rapping
I mean it’s SHINee it’s fun bright and has a dance rhythm what more could you possibly want?
Ring Ding Dong - SHINee:
Yeah, i doubt you don’t know this one
Coincidently the first kpop MV I watched after deciding to dive deeper down the rabbit hole and well would you know it…now we’re here
It’s the one about the broken doorbell! Break it down!
This song and dance is Legendary!
Also a fun song that isn’t to be taken too seriously
The MV is kinda dramatic for this song lol
Good to listen to, has a nice beat and melody
There are these songs that every idol can dance to, this is one of them (In the list of “songs every idol can dance to” you’d find a LOT of SHINee btw)
„Ringdingdongringdindongringdigidingdigiding“
SHAKE THAT BRASS - AMBER (feat. Taeyon):
Amber…oh Amber. I love her really a whole lot and as I saw the MV I just had to have this song!
It’s a super fun and dancey song with (as the title suggests) a brassy sound
Much like Woof Woof I really enjoy this song bc of the MV,
Amber is rapping and being the goofball she is ;)
BUT! As much as I like that song and think she deserves all the solo stuff she can get I like her new stuff more because it’s more „hers“. I really enjoy her singing as well.
And confession of the month: I don’t like f(x)’s sound so I’m happy she does solo stuff
She’s such an inspiration with her unique style and attitude (sighs in very gay)
Lucifer - SHINee:
I LOVE this song! OMG!
The MV is kinda uneventful but the DANCE PRACTICE!
Oh boy! Well first off Lee Taemin is very distracting in it but you have to see the dance to believe it! That’s what they perform with! On a regular basis!
The sound is very electric and theres a quiet electric melody running through the whole of it that kinda sounds like some alarm clocks lol
Edgy™️
You should absolutely watch performances! Jonghyuns high note is not portrayed well in the recorded version, boy has breath forever!
Apart from the vocals slaying absolutely every note the rap parts can’t be discarded by any means
It all just fits so perfectly
Oh and of course for a song of it’s time it’s just a little bit...nonsensical (especially the english parts lol: Loverholic, robotronic. what?)
Hero - MONSTA X:
I’m thinking of a helicopter landing platform, pulled up shirts and a scared Wonho
The dance to this song is…well do yourself a favour if you like abs and boys
Apart from the drool worthy performance, the song is super cool! Kinda chill, but still powerful and damn rapline went off!
This song really made them known more and it’s for a good reason
The sound in this is what is „typically“ MX for long time (Till up until Jealousy I’d say)
„I can be your hero, I can be your man!“
Sometimes a bit repetitive but what song isn’t lol?
Also still is in the „we all dress awful and don’t know what to do with our hands“ phase but that passes soon
Lead to many wonderful reality shows that makes it easy for new fans to get to know them better (Their group dynamic never changes they all just mature a bit it’s really nice to see.)
Also yes, Jooheon is kinda scary in this but I swear he a cutie

Song of the Week
I may have peeked ahead of time . . . but it was for good reason and I do not regret it.
Edit 1 (written halfway through): The universe has conspired against me. After a couple weeks (months) of the music scene disappointing me, it has decided to attack this week. There are SO MANY GOOD choices this week.
Edit 2 (at the end): It’s a long one folks, buckle up
Honorable Mentions:
I like the flip of the usual hip hop formula in Asol’s Bucket List, where the girl has the rap verse, and the guy has the chorus vocal. The rapping is not my favorite, so the song sadly doesn’t keep my attention, which is unfortunate when it has so many elements I like.
If you wanted a dose of anime intro this week, the indie scene is looking out for you with Unification Road March from Vanmal. It feels like Weezer mixed with the Burnout Syndromes. Which is a good mix in my books.
So, my pre watch this week came from PLT, because of course it did. So, Igoholic is amazing. More importantly, is anyone surprised? Moti has a great intro verse (with a sung rap part, which is one of my favorite mixed styles). Gaho and Jinwoo rock every chorus. Then June lowkey raps?!?! And then leads into the coolest part of the whole track (you will know when you hear it). And then Villain decides he doesn’t want to be shown up and kills it. And, because of course they are amazing, the live is just as amazing. (P.S. here is a live of Manitto that you should also absolutely listen to).
If you prefer your anime theme to be sung by women, then Dreamcatcher is back to give you exactly what you wanted. What is the same style that they have been doing the whole time, and for some reason I am all about it this time? Maybe I am just in the mood for the style, and need to go back through all their songs, but this is pretty great.
If nothing else, go at least watch parts of wetter’s Hello Sunshine. The MV does a good job of catching the vibe of the rock song. As for the song, I really like the verse, but not so much with the chorus.
I may be biased (who are we kidding, I am super biased), but Roy Kim has my favorite ballad of the week with The Hardest Part. Partially because his voice is one of my favorite things, partially because it is the simple acoustic tragedy style I can’t help but like. Also, holy shit, the lyrics . . . honestly, they have deeper plot than some tv shows. And he actually acts in his video (which, also, he’s so pretty in it), and the stories match up and . . . I’m rambling. Just go love this song too. Only for rainy days though (lucky me, living in Seattle and all that).
Next in the parade of amazing music is Park Sanhee with Over The Blue. I’m not sure how to describe the style. Maybe Taeyeon if she was a little more ballad-y and a little bit more indie. There are some amazing vocals (I love the ethereal part lots), and importantly interesting vocals throughout. Also, I love girls moving through their whole range, instead of just the top. Also, she is so unknown that her Instagram has like maybe 400 followers. It is a CRIME!!
If you liked Amber’s mixtape, you will like White Noise (which sounds like a lot of the tracks from it). That’s all I have to say about it (I’m hitting a good music coma). Okay, I will say the breakdown is inspired.
If you are wondering where the classic K-pop sound is hiding this week, it is in GOT7′s Lullaby, complete with box sets and questionable outfits and plot. I am not in love with the song as whole, because it feels just a bit too disjointed. The chorus though is wonderful.
So you know how groups formed from a show have sad ballads to announce their split up? The newest one is from UNI.T from The Unit which (controversial opinion) was the best competition show so far (fight me). Their sad ballad is Begin with the End, which is sung beautifully and would probably be a lot more emotional for me if I was a fan. If you feel like an actual release, produced by Brave sound no less, they also dropped I Mean, which is vocally stunning as expected, and is in a style I do not love, so I’m torn.
While Save Me, Save You is not my favorite WJSN track, I’m as shocked as everyone else that they still aren’t being paid?!?! Like, really? Starship literally only has 2 active groups right now.
Y’all. I am so torn about choosing a winner(s) right now. I have an honest to goodness 3 way tie, and I can’t choose one the drop . . .
I make my own rules, and I choose Igoholic from PLT for it’s hype-ness (is that a word? nope, but it is now), and The Hardest Part from Roy Kim for being emotional and BEAUTIFULLY sung (and beautiful all over), and Over The Blue from Park Sunhee for being criminally underrated (and also amazing).

Sounds like an interesting position to be in with JBJ, but I'm sure there are still people discovering them even with them being technically disbanded.
Yeah, I definitely have a thing for the dancers lol, Seungwoo is a Lead Dancer in Victon.
I guess with Hwanwoong it was his stage presence. He's a great dancer and he's incredibly expressive when he's on stage, or in MV's so that really drew me in. Then when I started watching the reality/variety shows and their behind videos I found out that he's a bit of a weirdo, a touch evil, and incredibly well read. Then of course he is very serious about the groups choreos, etc.
Taemin started out as a complete no for me though. My friend sent me Want because she figured I'd like it but he honestly just creeped me out, so I moved on without a second thought. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I got drawn back in, found myself asking whose MV or stages were in gifsets I was seeing, and it was almost always Taemin, so I had to accept my fate lol
Similar to Woong though, his dancing definitely drew me in. It's unique and the amount of control he has is crazy. Musically, his entire solo career is sublime. Then as I learned more about him and Shinee, everything they've been through, and with him debuting so young, I was just taken in by his strength. There's so much dedication to what he does.
Ah, the good old small box that people get pushed into. Glad he managed to work his way out of it and show how talented he truly was. Him and Kenta both seem so multi-talented, like there's nothing they couldn't do if it was handed to them 😅
It's great to see people being able to be themselves, especially in societies where there is still quite considerable loyalty to traditions and whatnot. There's nothing better than a dork to be honest, a good bit of duality. I feel that with my pair as well, immense charisma and looks that kill on stage, and then bubbly bundles of joy off stage 😂
The amount of determination they must have had to follow this career is unimaginable, especially for The8 if his parents were against it. That's a really tough hurdle to overcome. You've got some great guys there for sure: strong, talented, and all-round decent humans.
I think Tumblr may have lost my last reply in the void, but on to todays mission!
What are your favourite MV's? And is there specific concepts you like, or things you don't like in MV's?
sorry i replied so late!! i made a post that i was busy and on queue and wanted to wait until i had time to really respond to this but idk if you saw that lol. anyways, i hope so, jbj means/meant a lot to me even though there were rough times and now im bittersweet about them.
we have that in common lol we both like dancers! what a coincidence. i thought he was a dancer but i wasnt sure, i dont know much about victon other than their names and some music.
hwanwoong has incredible control over his body, hes fantastic! and yeah a little weird hehe i remember he was one of my picks during produce 101, same with seoho. thats interesting about taemin though that you started off not with him as a bias. im glad he drew you in though, hes insanely talented tbh his sayonara hitori dance gets me everytime in the feels.
i know right!! i feel like most if not all idols have a 'mold' theyre supposed to follow which is really unfortunate but why i admire ones who seem so genuine (ofc, i cant TRULY be sure of what theyre like, but still)
the way you say 'you've got some great guys' lmao thats so cute as if they were truly mine hehe. but alas i am one to share! lol
speaking of the new mission, im an absolute sucker for aju nice's music video of course, the idea of exploding confetti is SO good. a few of my others include: nature's girls (I LOVE when girls do horror concepts so also dreamcatcher's chase me), dongkiz's lupin, verivery's tag tag tag, vixx's shangrila, txt's nap of a star, loona's butterfly, w24's sosime, boyfriend's star, ladies code's the rain, in2it's snapshot. also anything by orange caramel
sorry thats so many but i just have so much love and i could go ON lmao. but about concepts, i like concepts differently than music video concepts, if that makes sense? i.e. i LOVE cutesy/summer concepts as a concept for the group, but in music videos i prefer something more aesthetically pleasing and colorful or unique. theres usually only 1 thing in hate in music videos and thats unnecessary flashing lights lol. i cant stand most of a.c.e's music videos bc of that
what about you? do you have some favorite music videos?

K-drama watched list
Because I lost my note on my old phone so here's a list of all the Kdramas I've watched... I’ve added some comments and opinions on some of them
Boys over flower
This was the first drama recommended to me and the first one I ever watched. It’s a great introduction to K-dramas. Rich guy-Poor girl is a common trope and this one is really entertaining, great first drama to watch because you’re diving straight into it.
Healer
Now let me tell you! Ji Changwook is RIGHT at the top of my favorite actors and this is the first drama I ever saw with him in a lead role. And let me tell you, after this, nothing will convince me faster than Ji Changwook as the lead in an action drama. Number one on my must watch recommendations. If you haven’t seen it yet, this should be next on your watch list!!!
Dream
Ooooh I watched this one for the lead and only the lead.... Kim Bum is adorable and though I don’t remember much of this one I enjoyed it. Here’s a fan made MV ‘cause I literally don’t remember anything except it’s about boxing?
Personal taste
Lee Minho pretending to be gay so he can rent a room in a girl’s home... I’m letting you imagine everything that could go wrong... Fun and lighthearted it’s a fun drama.
You're beautiful
Playful kiss
Ooooh I have some issues with this one but it’s cute and fun and maybe I wanted to bitch slap both leads at some moments, and cringed at some moments (second hand embarrassment was present a few times there). Like I said though it’s cute and fun and gets your mind off of things.
Dream high
Dreal high 2
Heartstrings
Flowerboy ramyun shop
Flowerboy next door
Shut up flowerboy band
Okay so I got a little mad at the choices for the beginning in this one because holy shit the end of episode 2 ???? I was not okay with that ... Still a fun drama, I remember enjoying it though it doesn’t stick with me much... I remember the music being pretty good too....
To the beautiful you
School 2013
School 2017
Pinocchio
I may or may not have crushed hard on Lee Jongsuk and this drama convinced me to watch a lot of the drama he’s stared in. But this one was fun and like at the top of my recommendations... The chemistry between Lee Jongsuk and ParK Shinhye is a little meh but if you don’t pay too much attention to that the rest is worth it!!
I hear your voice
The good doctor
Doctor stranger
Lee Jongsuk is the son of a doctor who got sent to North Korea for a secret operation that stops him from going back to South Korea. His lead is a genius and becomes a surgeon like his father... He defects and manages to get back to South Korea... Man that one had me confused on whether or not I liked it but to say it’s not entertaining would be wrong...
The heirs
Empress Ki
Ji Changwook as the lead for 51 episodes in a historical drama? I didn’t need more than that to convince me to watch this one.
My love from another star
Oooh this one is a popular one and for a good reason ! This love story is beautiful and the chemistry man the chemistry is amazing 100% recommend if you’re looking for something that makes you soft and warms you up inside.
Marriage not dating
Blood
The only thing I remember of this one is that it’s about vampires and a vampire doc....
Jekyll and Hyde
Kill me Heal me
Disclaimer on this on: depicts dissociative identity disorder or D.I.D, I can’t say if it was depicted correctly or not. But the lead male actor did an amazing job at making sure we differentiated the 7 alters of his character. I enjoyed this one a whole lot and the OST is pretty good.
I remember you ( Hello Monster)
If you like thrillers this one is for you. Plays a little with your mind and tries to put you off the tracs ...
Noble my love
Moorim school
Descendants of the sun
If you haven’t watched this one put it at the top of your list! Because this was THE drama of 2016! The story line, the plot, the acting, the OST everything was amazing in this one !!
Comeback Mister
Moonlight drawn by clouds
Lucky romance
Uncontrollably fond
Doctors (Doctor crush)
Oooh I didn’t like this one much, I kind of had to force myself to watch it, more because I was bored and it was somewhat entertaining... but the Teacher-student type romance isn’t for me....
W: two worlds
Lets fight ghost
Beautiful Gong Shim
Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Boy Oh Boy. Where to begin with this one? okay
1. Put this right next to Healer on the must watch list if you haven’t yet!! It is beautiful
2. The Cast : IU, Lee Jonggi, Byun Baekhyun (EXO), Nam Joohyuk, Ji Soo, Kang Hana, Z.Hara, Kang Haneul, just to name a few
3. It’s a historical drama base in the Goryeo era
4. Prepare the tissues because this will set you up for 20 episodes of laughter followed closely by heartbreak, picking the pieces up and trying to piece them together only for those pieces to be broken and stepped on and broken again... I’ve never cried so much
5. Beautiful scenes, chemistry, scenery!
Thumping Spike
Cheese in the trap
Hwarang
Jealousy incarnate
Bong Soon cyborg in love
Legend of the blue sea
Lee Minho and Jeon Jihyeon (My love from another star) take you on a journey of people finding each other over and over again and history repeating itself? Beatiful drama, amazing chemistry! On top of my recommendations as well
Cinderella and four knights
K2
Ji Changwook as the lead in an action drama was all I needed to convince me to watch this one
Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo
Goblin
If Descendants of the sun was the drama for 2016 this one follows closely, starting to air end of December 2016 and finished in January 2017 This is the drama for 2017. Again, from the OST to the story line to the little details everything about this one was perfect! Absolutely loved it
Solomon's Perjury
Oh ! This one is the one I recommend if you’re looking for something a little more serious. This one follows a student lead trial in high school after a student is found dead at the foot of one of the buildings. This one stuck with me!
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
Chief Kim
Introverted boss
Queen of Ring
Radio romance
Suspicious partner
My secret romance
Oh so you know how we never get any action before the end of like episode 8 or something and it’s usually one of the hella awkward kisses. Hohoho this one focuses on a one night stand and boy of boy we get a full on make out session (in kdrama equivalent) in episode 1!
Fun and cute rom com-ish this one is a really fun one!
The Last Empress
Ah this is more recent as well, it’s set in today’s time if South Korea were a Constitutional Monarchy. Follow it’s last Empress in a palace where manipulation and corruption reigns and secrets are deeply burried.
Terrius behind me
Come and hug me
Remember those tissues you got for Scarlet Heart Ryeo? Yeah stock up this one’s going to make you weep from start to finish. The acting is beautiful and heart wrentching
Tempted

i was tagged by @hyunukhan ❤❤❤ thank you this was impossible lol so i basically just cheated
FIRST GROUP YOU LISTENED TO: the first one i remember is 2ne1 because the mv for It Hurts came up in the youtube suggestions when i was listening to jrock (i didn’t realize it was kpop when i listened to it though, i just thought it was cool)
FIRST GROUP YOU KNEW THE MEMBERS’ NAMES: super junior (all 15 of them!) because my little sister adores them and i was hoping we could bond over kpop lol
FIRST BIAS EVER: tablo was the first person who really drew me into korean music and i spent a lot of time looking into his past and being emotionally compromised because his story is heart crushingly sad (but has a happy ending, well not ending because he’s still alive, but you know what mean)
FIRST SONG TO MAKE YOU EMOTIONAL: expired by tablo (actually that whole album tbh)
TOP 3
top 3 fav male groups: • CNblue - the first group i searched for music videos online for (also the first group i saw live) • EXO and VIXX - the first groups i watched shows of (showtime and mtv diary respectively) • History - the first group i fell in love with that i kind of realized was underrated and made a post on tumblr begging people to love them
top 3 fav female groups: • Wonder Girls - Please Be My Baby was the first mv i saw that i actually knew was kpop • Spica - No More was the first girl group song i remember playing on repeat (along with Queen B’z Bad Girl) • The Ark - these girls really got my attention predebut with their powerful dance... lately Dreamcatcher and Gfriend have had my attention for the same reason (i’ve also got my eye on Apple.B, their debut was super cute but they’ve also done covers that show some power too)
top 3 fav solo artists: • Choi Sam - when she released trauma i felt my soul die and be reborn, if she collabed with Yongguk the depth of their voices together would physically transport me to another dimension or just outright kill me • Sunmi - after full moon i had to stop fooling myself and admit i like girls (i used to say that girl groups were good, they just weren’t my style haha silly me) • Lee Michelle - first of all, her vocals are out of this world, Without You is amazing, and also she raps
• Flowsik - (he used to be part of Aziatix where are eddie and nicky??) i love his voice and his style and i want to adopt him as my uncle (even though he’s too young to be my uncle) • Roy Kim - I Want To Love You 1:43 to 2:11 ...... not even half a minute long but i could listen to that part on repeat forever • Park Hyoshin - when VIXX’s Hongbin was fanboying over Park Hyoshin i though ‘must be some gorgeous actress’ and i was right about the gorgeous part at least. im so glad i took Hongbin’s recommendation... the first time i heard Wildflower i was totally blown away
top 3 fav songs of all time: three random songs im currently into • WhatDa - oh my god i am in love with this song right now. i love how Ato shines in this song, i love the drop at 1:30 (get it Bomb!), i love how it sounds dangerous... definitely going to be on repeat for a good long while • Secret Love Song - vocals and visuals from heaven • strange girl - let me see if i can explain this mv... so a super hero saves the twins from getting hit by a car, they pester her to teach them her secrets, (cue a hilarious twist on the classic gratuitous cleavage shot), amazingly synchronous dancing (i mean they’re TWINS), a couple guest rappers, a fun song, a great mv
top 3 male biases: times i cried because of boys: • lee seungtae... because he worked so hard, and because of the lawsuit and because he just wanted to sing, and because he took a bath on camera but not in a sexy way he was just there and it was so wholesome and i love him and i miss him and i truly hope he lives a life filled with contentment and doesn’t ever blame himself for what happened • when kris left exo, because it was the first time i experienced a member leaving a group, and i didn’t realize at the time that could even happen (innocent little me) • when Nu’est W announced they were coming back with aron, because I truly didn’t think he was going to stay, but he DID stay and i was so relieved
top 3 female biases: times i cried because of girls: • when i listened to yoon mirae’s black happiness and read about her struggle and saw all of the amazing things she’s been able to accomplish. she wins on every level, like she can rap and sing, she has a beautiful family and a prestigious career (she’s 100% as successful as her husband), she’s totally strong and badass and also soft and feminine • when amber released borders and i read her message and watched the video and listened to her voice and just... yeah... borders • that time yoohyeon said ‘i’m doing... a science’ and it was so cute that i laughed until tears were actually streaming down my face
top 3 fandoms you’re part of: • if anyone’s actually interested in my other fandoms (other than korean music and dramas) i have a personal blog
top 3 choreographies: the last three that really caught my attention were: • rain • love whisper • these three
ULTIMATE
ultimate bias group: epik high was the first group i bought a physical album from (Remapping the Human Soul) tablo was the first one i knew, but tukutz and mithra have my heart too now ultimate male bias: the first time i heard leo speak i actually gasped (it took like 28 episodes of vixx mtv diary for him to say something okay lol) and my heart still does summersaults every time i see him smile because im so happy for him that he overcame his shyness to follow his dreams ultimate female bias: i am completely in love with actress and variety show host song jihyo. i adore her for not wearing makeup on tv and absolutely slaying, and also for wearing dramatic makeup and slaying once again, for being the only woman on running man for years and constantly holding her own, for her love of sleep and food and the members, and also that one photoshoot with the sword
wow this got really long and rambly, so if anyone’s gotten this far i’ll end with one very important message: PLEASE SUPPORT IMFACT THANKYOU
#tagged#personal#text#i just rambled forever lol#if anyone wants to do this pls pretend i tagged you

TWICE (트와이스) - FANCY YOU (7th Mini Album) [COMEBACK REVIEW]
With K-Pop, I never really listen to full albums outside of the ones my bias groups release (as horrible as that sounds). But every now and again, I'll listen to an album because I'm curious, or I love the title track a lot... or because I know it's going to be everywhere, and I want to know what all the undeniable hype is going to be about. Sometimes that hype is going to be unfounded, but going into TWICE's comeback with "Fancy", I was 100% ready to give this album a chance.
TWICE's title tracks have had a shaky history in terms of my opinions on them. To me, they've had some absolutely phenomenal songs - see "Knock Knock" and "Like OOH-AHH" - and others which are... some of my least favourite K-Pop songs. Looking at you, "Cheer Up" and "Dance The Night Away". (Remember, THAT'S JUST MY OPINION. I know those songs are loved but ooooh man I can't listen to them without cringing.) But with all the rumours swirling about "Fancy" being a pivot in concept for TWICE, I couldn't help but think that this album might just be worth my time.
And after a solid two and half to three weeks of listening to it and forming my opinions (because I need SOMETHING to do during finals study)... yeah, wow, it really was worth my time. This album surprised me in a lot, and I mean a lot of ways. I had no clue what to expect going in, but I was very pleasantly surprised on the other side of it all. Vagueness aside, let's actually take a look at what I mean and break down TWICE's "Fancy You"!
1. FANCY [TITLE]
[I couldn’t include more than 5 videos because of the limit, so I had to exclude this one! Here’s the MV link though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOHB85vDuow]
Right off the bat, we have the title track, "Fancy". I won't deny that I was nervous whilst listening to this for the first time, but... man, THIS is how you do a concept change in my eyes. It's by no means a huge shift from TWICE's previous material, but it's got enough distinctiveness to really make it stand out. It's almost like an evolution of "YES or YES" - which I loved, for the record - but with a slightly more mature pop sound. And I LOVE IT.
A lot of the girls are predominantly singing in their lower/middle range here, which... they really need to do more, because they all sound phenomenal. It also makes the higher-pitched chorus hit a lot harder. Aside from the girls' performances, the instrumental is a goddamn treat. The synths are predominant but not overwhelming, the subtle melodies in the background add so much to the main vocal line, and it's got this undeniable sense of boppiness to it that you can't quite ignore. It starts off relatively simple, and then builds upon itself to turn into a monster of a pop song by the end of its runtime. I have absolutely no idea how Black Eyed Pilseung went from making "Cheer Up" to... this. But I am very fucking okay with it. I feel like sophisticated is a good word to describe "Fancy"; it's a goddamn gorgeous song with a really good sense of bounce and progression.
So not only have we got a slight change in sound for TWICE in the song itself, but the lyrics honestly back up this concept shift as well! Instead of falling into the typical bubblegum pop trap of "oppa I love you, please love me back," the girls are much more forward with their romantic advances. They make the guy come to them this time. And yeah, you could say that's been run into the ground with girl crush concepts at this point, but "Fancy" isn't quite girl crush to me. It's more of a mature pop song, and those confident lyrics give it a great lift overall.
It's dangerous, it pricks, you're like a rose It's okay, I'm not afraid any more Hold it harder, take my hand It'll be a little dangerous, even more dangerous
Great song? Check. Somewhat interesting lyrics? Check.
My new favourite choreography TWICE have done? DOUBLE FUCKING CHECK.
Hoooooooooooly wow this routine is incredible. I learned it the day this dance practice video was released. That's saying something, since I very rarely learn K-Pop routines anymore. And yes, it is as hard as it looks. But it just confirms how goddamn hard TWICE have been working recently when it comes to their choreography.
I'm not gonna deny that "YES or YES" had a fantastic routine, but this... this had me shocked when I watched it for the first time. Just like the song, there is so much goddamn fluidity and style in this routine that it's kinda mind-blowing. Every single little section flows into the next perfectly, and there are so many little details that it's dizzying to try and keep up sometimes. There's so many levels and dynamics at any given time, and just when you feel like you might get a bit bored, the positions and timing of the girls' moves are often switched up to keep your attention. They also, for the record, don't repeat that much of the routine in the later parts of the song (bar the choruses, obviously) which is a BALLSY move. It's a trap many fantastic routines can often fall into, and to think that they didn't take the easy way out here earns a big fucking gold star in my book. Basically, THIS ROUTINE IS FUCKING GORGEOUS. I like it as much as, say, IZ*ONE's "La Vie En Rose". And I think we all remember how much I gushed over that...
To put it briefly, TWICE knocked it out of the goddamn park with "Fancy". Even though I was skeptic of the concept change rumours, they ended up delivering with just about every aspect of this comeback. And I couldn't be any happier. If they keep this up in the future then I may just have to start reviewing their albums more consistently. Speaking of which... I still have the rest of the album to look at, so let's start that, shall we?
2. STUCK IN MY HEAD
youtube
The one thing I'd heard about this song in advance of listening to it was this: if you want girl crush TWICE, this would give you your fill. And straight away, I'd say: yes. That is absolutely the case here. Whereas "Fancy" was more of a mature pop song, "Stuck In My Head" is full-on bombastic girl crush. And I really do admire it for that; it's a great change of pace for TWICE, and certainly something I'd love to be able to get used to. But I do have a few problems with this song - one of them being quite a big problem - that stops it from being amazing in my eyes.
Before that though, I may as well focus on what I like about it: the instrumental is full of power and emphasis, with plenty of strong brass elements and even some snare drums in the pre-choruses to add a bit of extra power. The speedy melody in the verses only serves to add to that power, too. And, for the most part, so do the girls' vocals; Nayeon in particular KILLS IT here. She is super comfortable in this range, apparently, because goddamn she sounds phenomenal. Momo actually sounds pretty damn great too, I didn't know she could have so much power behind her vocals!
But, as I mentioned, I do have one or two problems with this song. Admittedly, while I do feel like some of the girls are in their element here - like Nayeon, Jihyo and Momo, even Jeongyeon in some places - a few others feel... slightly out of place. For example, Dahyun's vocals in the verses don't have that much power, which is by no means her fault. Powerful just isn't her style - it's completely understandable. She's much better at giving a calmer, breathier vocal delivery like Mina does. It's more of where her lines are placed that bothers me than her actual vocals.
But then there's those falsetto lines in the choruses, and the fact that the high notes and adlibs feel very isolated and scattered... and Jeongyeon. I have SUCH a love/hate relationship with Jeongyeon in this song. Well, not even a love/hate relationship, more of a love/disappointment relationship. Her lines in the second verse and her adlib towards the end are fucking outstanding, but then she doesn't reach those same heights with her chorus lines later on. I understand that maybe those lines are structured in a way that makes it harder for her to belt them, but... it would've added a lot to the song if she did. I'm all for her looking after her voice and not completely ruining it, that's what any good vocalist would do. It's just... she has the potential to be a standout here, and I feel it goes to waste sometimes. She's a fantastic performer overall, and I really wish I didn't have to say this, but I'm just being honest. :(
All of is combined with the instrumental of the song, which is probably my biggest problem. It's got a hell of a lot of power, sure, but it doesn't go anywhere with that power. It never changes itself up, or develops - not in a way that feels impactful, at least. Yes, the beat switchup during Chaeyoung's rap is quite cool, but it honestly ends up taking away a lot of the momentum rather than adding onto it. When you've got so much impact in a song like this, and then proceed to do nothing with it, that's a huge disappointment in my eyes. It ends up feeling repetitious and under-cooked, which is a goddamn shame. If it had just a bit more love and experimentation put into it on the production side of things, it could have been serious title track potential. But as much as I hate to admit it, it's a very, VERY uneven song. It's definitely something the producers can work on in the future.
D'you what they don't need to work on though? The lyrics. Cause yeah, they're about as girl crush as you can get, and I eat that shit for breakfast. "Fancy" was confident, yes, but "Stuck In My Head" is THAT bitch. Honestly, I'd love to see TWICE have lyrics like this for a title track of theirs. They're teasing and quite playful, whilst being very powerful and confident at the same time. Basically, I love them a lot and I really want them to take this angle with one of their title tracks please and thank you.
This game of hide-and-seek that doesn't let you breathe Our relationship pushes and pulls I wonder who'll be laughing when this tension ends
Yyyyyeah, I ended up being very mixed about this song as a whole. I can still enjoy it on a superficial level, and it's certainly a lot of fun. I just... need to not think about it too much, because when I do, that's when the problems start arising. Overall, it's a great attempt at a girl crush song, and definitely something I'd love to see TWICE develop on in the future.
3. GIRLS LIKE US
youtube
Welp, I certainly never expected a Charli XCX song to end up in TWICE's lap. And yes, for those of you who aren't aware, this was a song Charli originally created alongside MNEK called "Tough Love" - which, for the record, both of them are phenomenal artists with a HELL of a lot of talent. (Seriously, have you heard some of Charli's mixtapes????) But the song was never really finished, and it was leaked online earlier this year. I'm not going to give a link to it because of copyright, but go look it up yourself if you're curious. It IS out there.
But somehow, it ended up being sold to TWICE, and now we're here! And overall, "Girls Like Us" is pretty good. It's got a very whimsical and upbeat vibe to it in places, with some nice quirky piano lines and whistle melodies here and there. It's also got some downright anthemic choruses, and I certainly wasn't expecting them to explode as much as they did. It's goddamn gorgeous to listen to, if you ask me. The verses are minimal for a reason, and it woooooooorks.
It actually reminds me a lot of Red Velvet's "Happiness", in a way? It's got a very uplifting vibe to it, and it overall feels very dreamy and positive. Which, that's not something Charli's really known for, so it definitely surprised me! I was nonetheless very happy to hear TWICE put their own spin on it, and it ended up coming out pretty damn well.
But you know what I hate about this song? THE ENDING. That's how they decided to end it? With the most anticlimactic thing you could possibly do with a song like this??? Come ooooon, JYP producers. You had a great opportunity to take that heavy drum line and turn it into something special, and you wasted it. You left it to sputter out and feel as pointless as it could, causing the ending to feel abortive and very unfinished in general. I AM DISAPPOINTED.
Aside from that though, the lyrics certainly prove my point about the Red Velvet comparison. This is one of those cheesy yet uplifting and motivating songs that you can't help but grin like an idiot at. Yeah, the lyrics are pretty dumb, but they're fun. That's never a bad thing in my eyes!
The truth is, it's not a big deal You are not alone, everyone's been on this path before You'll find happiness one day on this road
In the end, "Girls Like Us" is a pretty dreamy song with a shitty ending. I don't really know what else I can say about it; it's pretty simple in a lot of ways, but sometimes you need a track like that to just enjoy in the middle of an album. Yeah, people will probably say it's filler, but if that's the case, then it's definitely a very fun example of filler. 😊
4. HOT
youtube
If you ask me, "Hot" is where this album finds its pace and really starts to just... have fun with it. "Hot" is actually an upbeat party song that REALLY surprised me upon my first listen. I didn't quite know what to expect going into it, sure, but if you told me it was going to be as quirky and funky as this, I... don't know if I would've believed you. But yeah, here we are!
"Hot" grabs your attention from the get-go with some really interesting vocal samples, and a very futuristic instrumental - almost reminiscent of deep house in some places thanks to those bouncy synths. But then, when the choruses hit, it adds some really nice snare touches, as well as a brass line that single-handedly makes the entire song SO much better. It gives it that extra energy that it probably would've lacked otherwise, and it definitely made me smile. This entire song just has so much goddamn energy, it's infectious! And hey, the ending actually works, which is a nice thing given that we just had "Girls Like Us". 😖
I feel like the girls themselves are actually enjoying themselves here, too - their vocal delivery is very colourful and varied, with just the right amount of sass and restraint where it's needed. That carries over into the lyrics, too, which are - once again - surprisingly confident and charismatic. It adds to the energy and vibe the song's got going for it - and when it's as fun as this, that is very much welcome. And sure, they're a little bit repetitive here and there, and they don't make much sense in places - although I think that's because the only place I could find a translation for this song was Genius, of all places - but hey, this song isn't really meant to be super deep! It's an empowerment anthem mixed with a party song, and shallow lyrics for this suffice perfectly for what it wants to do.
I don't have any ordinary clothes I'm perfect to my feet, I'll always be attracted to it You've already fallen for me
I don't really have much else I can say about "Hot"; you kinda just have to listen to it for yourself to really enjoy it. If you've never heard it before, I'd definitely recommend it! It's good if you need an energy boost, that's for sure. But... while I like it a lot, there is admittedly a better party song on this album. One with just as much energy - if not more - and a HELL of a lot of groove...
5. TURN IT UP
youtube
Yeah. It's this. I'll give "Hot" credit, it's fun and bouncy, but it's not on the level of "Turn It Up". Now THIS is a fucking party song.
The instrumental in this song is AWESOME. Not only have you got those bouncy elements we heard previously, mainly thanks to a great drum line and a nice synth line to match, but the groove. This song has SUCH a good bassline to it, and it's just topped off by some even funkier electric guitars here and there, as well as some thinner synths towards the end. Admittedly, that acoustic guitar intro with Sana's vocals is fucking awful and I don't know why they even included it (THE GUITAR ISN'T EVEN IN TUNE WITH THE REST OF THE SONG FFS), but the rest of the song is fantastic on its own. Just... ignore the intro. Forget it exists. Because there's a really damn good song to be found here if you do.
TWICE themselves actually nail it here, too, with some great vocals that really supplement this song's energy - I mean, do you HEAR how much fun they're having here? I feel like I can hear Jihyo smiling into the mic as she sings, and I love it! And hey, we have Momo rapping for a brief second, what else could you ask for? But overall, I feel like it eloquently provides a solution to the problem "Stuck In My Head" ran into, where some of the girls sound like they're not entirely comfortable - the instrumental ebbs and flows to support the members with the quieter vocals AS WELL AS the more powerful members. It works super well, and it means members like Tzuyu and Dahyun don't feel out of place. Speaking of which, Dahyun and Chaeyoung's rap is a goddamn highlight here - I haven't liked one of their raps this much since "Likey". THEY KILL IT.
Surprisingly, the lyrics indicate this is more of a love song than a party song? Which, that was a strange surprise to me. But while it is a love song, it's a very carefree and light one, with an electric sense of energy behind it. They never feel overbearing or annoying, and end up coming off as really natural and likable. They're honestly pretty good!
Here at night, full of starlight, Imma turn it up Towards the night sky in the dark, Imma turn it up We'll never lose our vibe
I think it's safe to say that "Turn It Up" left me very damn impressed, considering I wasn't expecting it to be anything special. It's the sort of song I've been waking up with stuck in my head in the morning (ironically enough), and that kinda shows how much sticking power it's got. It's memorable, upbeat, and reminds me an awful lot of Girls' Generation's "All Night" - it's just goddamn funky fun. I'd KILL to have a song like this be one of TWICE's title tracks going forward, 'cause I'd be there from minute one.
6. STRAWBERRY
youtube
Funnily enough, this is... probably my favourite song on the album. Yeah. Even though I liked "Turn It Up" a hell of a lot, "Strawberry" is the song I've found myself completely obsessed with. It's very subtle in a lot of ways, but I think that ends up working very much in its favour.
"Strawberry" is by a mile the slowest song on this album; the decision to end the album on a more chill song like this one was a great idea, in my opinion. And hey, like I said, it's probably my favourite song here - I love that distorted synth sample in the background and the melodic foundation it provides; I love the acoustic guitar sections in the choruses and the hint of authenticity it adds; I love how the girls' vocals are more hushed and a little bit more sultry than what we're used to hearing from them; there are so many elements of "Strawberry" that I could gush over for hours if I could. Hell, I'd say it's the most well-developed song on the album. It really does feel like its full potential is realised, and that makes me INCREDIBLY happy.
And yeah, when you look at the lyrics here, they're certainly more on the cutesy side than anything else on this album. But it's not an overbearing type of cuteness; it's very chill, relaxed and subdued, much like the song itself. They appreciate a few of the smaller details about the person they're crushing on, which matches the song's tone perfectly. It's such a goddamn pleasant song to listen to, and hey, even if I don't understand the lyrics without reading their meaning most of the time, they still feel refreshing regardless.
I don't want anyone to steal you, so I secretly hide you - it's all mine So what if I'm being greedy? I'm the one who likes you more
Not gonna lie, this song gave me very big and very immediate f(x) vibes. And that's a fantastic thing in my eyes - I AM a MeU, after all, but I didn't expect TWICE to pull it off quite so well. And to be honest, I think they do it just as well as f(x) do! These are the kind of cute songs I really like, where they're not overly in-your-face about their cuteness; they're just comfortable with being cute and putting their own spin on it at the same time. "Strawberry" is a fantastic song, and one I've found myself listening to an unhealthy amount at this point. Seriously. It's become one of the most played songs on my phone. Send help.
But hey, that's the entire album! And if "Fancy You" is anything to go by, I'll definitely be listening to more of TWICE's albums in the future - this ended up having some very pleasant surprises for me. This has been one of my favourite eras for TWICE overall, and this album just cements it to be honest. I can't wait to see where they go from here!
