I don’t understand how RWBY is still alive. It’s not doing anything special, it’s a very basic fantasy story and first volume was pretty mid. The volume 2 came out and it got better but it’s still not a groundbreaking/genre defining show. Then the creator died and the future of the show was unknown but it was still decided to keep going. Volume 3 was great but ever since then, responses to the show have been all over the place but mostly negative. I liked it but there’s definitely problems with it. Then when RoosterTeeth was downscaling, RWBY had to be picked up by CrunchyRoll to keep getting money in. It seems like this was helpful but then RoosterTeeth was shut down by David Zaslav. Now it really seems as if the show is gone forever but it’s not because it was picked up yet again by Viz Media.

One would think this is because the show has a dedicated fanbase but nope. The FNDM has spent more time cannibalizing itself than paying attention to the show. I’d even say the biggest haters of this show are people in the FNDM.

Everything has been stacked against RWBY to fail but it just refuses to die. This show has survived the creator’s death, the company’s death, and years of backlash and unfounded criticism yet it’s still going strong. RWBY is just built different.
