Thanks for tagging me @datamodel-of-disaster! I had to mess around a bit because I'm a huge coordinated playlists person and I needed to combine a few
Like Data, I don't have a ton of people to tag, but let's see what @batrachised, @dandelionsandderivatives, @kmlaney, @knamil, @blood-magicks, @space-outlaw-jin and @bastardsunlight have to say!
So let's go!

Children of the Warch/Nite Owl Headcanons
Despite beliefs parents, spouses, and children are allowed to see your face
Medics, of course, are allowed. However, they don’t unless absolutely necessary and will prefer they just have lift the edge of their helmet
None of the Nite Owls really know this because, to the tribe, it’s not important or necessary to voice as it was their business
When babies are first taken in or borne, the parents are very secluded so they can spend as much time with their children out of armor (includes helmet as those taking care of the baby, found/birthed the baby and therefore adopt the baby), skin to skin
When it comes to babies, the adoption process is more so 'i found a baby and now i am their parent in every way' no real adoption like with the older kids since the babies won't remember
The adoption rites are still said, just much less fanfair than with the older kids
This is also true for any new foundlings that need the contact, true for all ages though not a requirement
For babies, this period lasts about 8 months, then when out either parent is with the child without chest armor which lasts until they’re about 16 months
When children come to the tribe, they have little with them so what they do have is kept safe and in tip top shape
When they first arrive, foundlings are given essentially a deep clean by those that found them (they usually become their parent)
This includes getting their clothes washed, washing their hair twice (sometimes three) times, skin is scrubbed, lotion, and clothed in spares, and finally put to bed
Sometimes the kids come with pets (though very rare) and those are given similar treatment depending on the species
All in all, the Watch has the three shriek hawks, two nexu, eight massiffs (coming from two adults so far), three strill, and four anooba
Ragnar came in with a baby strill named Lord (he tried to change the name but no dice)
Lord was bathed after Ragnar, then deflea’ed and dewormed by the medic
Lord has been adopted by all foundlings and has taken the role of Guard dog, including all the commands and mannerisms that come with (though a sucker for belly rubs)
Bathing is important for bonding as it establishes trust and safety for the child, showing that the parent will always love and protect their foundlings no matter what state (mental or physical) they are in
Ragnar is the oldest of the younger group and took on the leader role
There are older teens who’ve completed the verd’goten and are considered adults but mostly teach youngers' kids
The teenagers oppose the Nite Owls the most and, while the most inexperienced of the adults, enjoy causing the most trouble with their youngest
The Nite Owls don’t have nearly as many young foundlings, their youngest is 15. The Children of the Watch youngest of the adults was 14, their actual youngest is 10 months old.
Younger groups age is from 0-13, then 14-20
The youngest enjoyed the new addition to their older siblings they could annoy; especially since the new teens had no idea what to do with them
Many times the kids will be all over the them. The moment they sit down, they have two children climbing on them (hanging over their legs, grabbing their head or arms, laying over their back, on their feet) but otherwise totally ignoring them unless addressed
The Nite Owls either have no idea what to do or don’t care enough about the tribe to care. The adults of the Tribe think it’s hilarious and that it builds character
They’re reasoning is that ‘if you don’t have the spine to tell them to get off of you, you don’t have a spine at all’
Eventually a nineteen year old takes a kid climbing over his face and throws him to the floor, and yells ‘get the hell off me you leeches!’
The child laughs, yanks his leg out from under him, climbs over to their face, slaps their cheek mockingly and says ‘bout time you grew a spine, grew a set of balls too! Congrats! You're no longer a spineless worm!'
The nineteen year old is then quasi adopted by this weird child and secretly enjoys it
A surprising amount of young Watch children quasi adopt the older kids from the Nite Owls, the Owls are confused and don’t really know how to stop it and those who have tried are told to stop by their teens
The peace between the two groups is actually pretty stable in day to day life
Though, some Owls still take issue with the Watch and avoid them, that number is few
After Paz and Axe become riduur, there is even less tolerance by either group for those people so many keep their negative opinions to themselves
Another factor is their pets
Obvi, the Tribe has so many pets and animals that are very well taken care of. Surprisingly, the Owls also have a few pets (but again not as much as the tribe)
The animals each have their roles and enjoy getting pets from literally anyone. Though, most will only respond to attack/work commands coming from a certain few people
Many of the massiffs will lay around and cuddle with the youngest of the children, though a majority only listen to the Beastmaster and her two apprentices
However, with each new litter, half of the pups are given to those couples with the youngest or most vulnerable children
All of the animals are incredibly well trained and well behaved, with even the biggest and most dangerous Anooba still fully trusted around babies (the only outlier being the bird things)
Many of the animals are purchased/found as babies since they respond the best to training
When the Nite Owls animals meet the Tribe's animals, it goes well
Though the Owl's are a little older and calmer, generally receptive to children and people playing with them but prefer to lay around and sun bathe
The Nite Owls' have one strill, three akk dogs, one massiff, and two anooba.
The pets are loved by all the young children and spend a lot of time around the younger kids, due to instincts or the fact the kids come to them
the Owls don't have a Beastmaster like the Tribe and so their animals are used to being more separate and with their owner than hanging around so many different people and animals
they also aren't used to working in a herd but many choose to just keep their animals with them rather than the group
Though, the owner of the massiff (who is about 22 year old female) does keep it with the other massiff and gives open permission to use it to help with breeding new puppies when the time comes
All the aminals in both groups only know Mando'a commands, though they know 'good *insert pet name/gender*' and stuff like that
(whether they know that or they just go wild for the pets, no one will ever know)

Cookies for those who remember my Image You Can Hear with that odd dog because BEHOLD. It has an official ref now!
Lishuck, a fluffier and less volant relative of a strill, and a fairly common pet in the more rural areas of the planet I'm making up
Basically dog software running on cat hardware but animated blanket with parenting tactics of a jacana
#artists on tumblr#traditional art#speculative zoology#project: the lost platoon#Doggies! with puppies!#also tfw you're playing fetch with your dog and it literally hands you the ball jhabdujawvydwv#I should also throw in my actual interpretation of a strill at some point#tho actually is lishuck more cat than more dog that is a question#they hunt like big cats and yet they're used for guarding people and property#and when they decide it's time for cuddles it's time for cuddles and you have nothing to say. they just grab onto you and demand pets#and they're about german shepherd-sized so good luck in preventing them from knocking things off your fridge#they're just so shaped

slowly revealing the albatross crew plot but only in the dumbest ways possible. Strill has a bit of a crisis when Yanthe joins the group and he finds out she’s a better pilot than him (space wizards, am I right)
instead of a fun fact today you get a link to Strill’s Roadtrip Playlist
[audio is “Against The Kitchen Floor” by Will Wood]
#you can say the bottle is alcohol if you want but in my professional opinion it is fruit juice#just because it’s funnier that way. he’s contemplating the value of his own life with Will Wood and sporange juice.#I have so many thoughts about Strill’s character arc but I’m not jamming them all in the tags here#digital#albatross crew tag#clone trooper oc#strill (oc)#machi (oc)

My RepCom Musing: if there were (clone) strills everything would be much better
For me, the biggest missed opportunity & disappointment of the Republic Commando story is that NO ONE APPARENTLY CAME UP WITH IDEA TO CLONE MIRD. And I swear, everyone would be better off with strill puppies (kittens?) around. Like seriously. Vau? Mird is what kept Vau alive and happy for decades and is literally what makes Vau soft and caring. Now multiply Mird and Vau won’t magically change from hardened veteran & harsh training sergeant into overprotective, overemotional dad, sure, but it would definitely make it easier for him to show his care and deeply hidden emotions once each squad of his batch gets a cute lil clone!Mird to take care of (and be taken care of in return). Can you imagine all the cadets’ excitement and wonder for their own strill, for the unconditional love and loyalty of an highly intelligent and smart animal and for the Vau’s trust given alongside it? All the things boy!Vau must feel at some point too, when he was stuck with an abusive family or shortly after leaving them and be on his own in an unknown, uncaring galaxy? Can you imagine him swarmed by the puppies and clones with a thousand and one question on how to deal with strill so he could unleash all his love for Mird on everyone around?
Or Atin, after losing his first batch mates? Or even after Geonosis? No point for violence when you can drop an emotional support animal on a hurt, depressed human being. Deltas too could benefit from lil Mird. What could be better than a strill for emotionally stunted people with even more an emotionally shut down trainer? Beside the whole long-term therapy, I mean.
Jango too should get a strill, the man is like one, walking trauma and Boba would be better to hang out with a loyal pet than Aurra Sing or other assholes.
Where is a cute lil clone!Mird for each squad of Vau’s batch, I demand to know?! A loyal strill to make everything better? WHY NONE OF YOU in-universe SMARTASS THOUGHT TO GIVE MIRD A BUNCH OF SMALL PUPPIES (KITTENS) TO MAKE KAMINO A BIT BETTER PLACE FOR THE STRILL, VAU AND CLONE CADETS? Everyone would be mentally healthier!
Well maybe beside Kal who could have a heart attack once Jaing brought the strill puppy or two or a whole pack and Skirata was forced to explain how that happened to overprotective Vau & Mird XDDD
UNLESS Vau wanted to do so but Kaminoans, remembering that this animal hunts them down out of boredom decided FUCK NO. Then I will accept the canon as it is, but only then…
(I do remember Vau sicing Mird on Ordo in book canon but I will admit I do not have a clue what was the point of this action besides making us, readers, to dislike Walon on the spot. I mean, killing people and physically trashing cadets? Sure, it makes sense within his characterization. But using Mird like that without any logical reason and just for fun? Nah, I will pass. Like Ordo lacked trauma and reasons to dislike strill and Vau when Kal had plenty of his own complaints about Walon to pass to his kids.)
#star wars#walon vau#mird#strills#clone troopers#republic commando book series#my repcom musing#everyone would be better if there was emotional support strill for the traumatized Atin & Deltas & Vau's other boys#though if vau came up with cloning mird he should charge the Republic extra cost for terapeutic presence of strills#i'm of course half joking with this idea but really more Mird (strills) would make everything much better#animals are awesome emotional support and repcom is full of traumatized people#but also the image of lil jaing keeping bringing strill after strill to kal's horror is so precious to me#of course in timeline when ordo has not be attacked by mird on vau's whim#also i would be less harsh about this scene with vau sicking mird on ordo IF he actually keep doing similar stuff in later books#i would hate it with passion but at least it would feel like his bad habit not a one time scene just to make readers hate Vau#on the spot and side with Kal as the “dad” only to ignore skirata's long list of flaws and fuck ups

This is gonna be an over share, but I literally have a “comedian” twitter bro for a dad. Worst part is he’s never been on Twitter.
Imagine an angry grumpy boomer, paired with the vaguely lefty twitter bro who never shuts up about “you can’t say anything these days!” and thinks insulting ppl is the peak of comedy. That’s my dad and I’m in hell.
#he’s currently ‘sarek’ in my phone#and if you’re a spock stan you know what my feelings are about him ️#he’s the worst because he never shut tf up about how much he hates republicans#but doesn’t actually give a shit about the opinions of women queer ppl or poc#I also think he intentionally gets me talking about politics because he likes getting me mad#and likes to laugh at the strill SJWs#his favorite comedian is bill mahur if that tells you anything about him#I’ll delete this later probably#but fuck I am so ready to not be around him and the toxic gas that spews from his mouth

"Even the notoriously fierce and battle-hardened Mandalorians are known to have a soft spot for some animals, particularly those that can handle themselves in a fight."
Star Wars Roleplaying Game: The Unknown Regions
#star wars#mandalorians#walon vau#we all know this is about you#and your only soft spot aka Mird XDDD#on serious note it is ironic statement#as we don't see mandalorians with animals#Vau & Mird is really the best known example#and shae vizla mentioned in SW:TOR she had a strill once#what a shame

Okay so I want to make an arranged marriage AU for Obi-Wan/Jango. But like. Instead of it being all ‘neither of us want this’ it’s a contract that they both willingly signed and honestly it was obsession at first sight.
Lemme explain.
See, Stewjon (ruled by King Yoda and his mess of adopted kids, so adoption is very common on the planet and they don’t even mind that Prince Jango already has kids) is a peaceful little world that cares about arts, parties, and farming. It’s a mixture of fun and practical. Most Mandalorians think it’s kinda shallow, but fun for party weekends to run off to. A lot of New Mandalorians that still hate the republic send their kids off to school there.
Obi-Wan is 25 minutes late to the meeting and Jango is all ‘you know what, I can handle not having to entertain him, clearly he’s got better things to do Lmao, this marriage will be easy’ and then the next minute someone flings open the meeting room doors, and you can just SEE Prince Qui-Gon’s face fall. He’s been toting the qualities of his baby son for the whole time they’ve been there, talking about the art degrees the kid has (Obi likes painting and sculpting in canon okay) and Jango is all ‘that’s great, he can paint his own wedding armor I’m sure it’ll be lovely’ and about how Obi-Wan is great with kids and loves to read ‘that’s great, he can entertain my father AND son at the same time’
And then the door slams open, and in comes a wild looking Xanatos, physically dragging a snarling young man who’s trying to bite through Xanatos’s wrist.
‘DAD HES TRYING TO REMOVE MY HAND’
‘Oh my. He’s not normally so… violent.’
‘THATS A FUCKING LIE AND YOU KNOW IT’
Anyways, Obi-Wan is eventually soothed into submission when Jango, who can’t stop laughing, asks if Obi-Wan really finds him so distasteful, cause he can just leave if so. Obi-Wan, after pulling his slightly bloody mouth off his brother’s arm with an air of dainty sweetness, just licks his chops and mentions Xanatos told him the Mandalorians would take away his pet Varactyl because they wouldn’t want Boga running around the city.
Jango just laughs even harder and tells him he can have whatever big dangerous pets he wants to. Obi-Wan gets up to go meet his new future husband and inform him that he would like a nexu. Jango says yes but also gifts him a new virodagger that makes Obi-Wan squeal about how pretty it is.
Jaster expected them to leave the planet with a very tenacious plan for breaking off the marriage but instead Jango is sighing lovingly and telling his new beloved that they shan’t be parted for much longer. Lovesick strill pups at first sight.
#star wars#obi wan kenobi#jango fett#jangobi#give me an arranged marriage where they immediately decide it’s gonna be awesome#Jango thinks Obi is cute all covered in blood and lookin sweet#Obi wants to ride Jango’s face that’s a nice face#he’s also indulgent and has a nice laugh and willing to let him keep his girl boga so those are important too#but that’s a nice face right there#stewjon is now actually the kingdom of the Jedi lol they’re still Jedi just weirder#boga is their flower girl#she lets boba and omega ride on her back down the aisle#also Obi is very feral he nuzzles Jango in greeting like a cat#feral obi wan

tag game whee!!!
thanks for the tag @datamodel-of-disaster
1) Are you named after anyone?
First name, no, my parents specifically picked it out because they didn't know anybody named that. My middle name is a family name, though. As for my username, Mird is in fact the name of a character, Lord Mirdalan the hunting strill from the Star Wars: Republic Commando novels.
2) When was the last time you cried?
Actually crying, about a month and a half ago and in response to something very painful in my real life (I'm okay). Just tearing up a little bit? Earlier this week; I was reading a really sad scene I'd written and getting a little too into it, lol.
3) Do you have kids?
I do not.
4) What sports do you play/have you played?
I am terrible at sports, lol. My mom went through a phase where we signed up for all different kinds of sports trying to find one I liked, but none of them (swimming, baseball, basketball, gymnastics) stuck. I loved horseback riding and did that for a few years but it got too expensive to keep up and I gave up archery for lack of space when I started uni. Is running a sport? I run now.
5) Do you use sarcasm?
Sometimes. I'm one of those autists who's like "look at me! I use sarcasm! I understand things!" and then someone is sarcastic with me and suddenly I'm freaking out because I'm not sure if they're serious or not.
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
I'm honestly not sure. Their hair and clothes, I guess? That feels so shallow, but I'm bad with vibes.
7. What's your eye colour?
A surprisingly intense blue.
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Both? It depends on my mood, how scary, or how happy.
9. Any talents?
I like to think I'm a pretty good writer and have a decent natural understanding of the English language. I also like to think I'm a pretty decent artist, but I'm not sure how much of that is talent and how much is just being unwilling to accept that I'm not talented at it and continuing to press it :P Um. I guess I'm pretty good at organizing and I *know* I'm a pretty good cook.
10. Where were you born?
The United States of America. More specific than that, I'd rather not say.
11. What are your hobbies?
Too many :P Reading, writing, tabletop roleplaying games, drawing, sewing. Sometimes I play video games or watch anime.
12. Do you have any pets?
I have three rats. Their names are Mavra, Lara, and Bianca and they are sisters.
13. How tall are you?
5'2" (if you're American, Liberian, or Burmese) or 157cm (if you're anywhere else in the world.
14. Favourite subject in school?
Science and Drama
15. Dream job?
Hmm. Five years ago, I would have said "molecular biologist" hands-down, but now I'm not so sure. Not sure if that hesitancy is due to the career being a bad fit for me or if the bad experiences I've had in my last job are tainting my impression. I guess I need to get back on the horse, so to speak, and see how I do in another take before I make a final call. If not, not sure what I'd want to do.
I honestly think I'd make a good bartender.
tagging @dandelionsandderivatives @kmlaney and @knamil - but please don't feel obligated! Also, if anyone wants to and hasn't been tagged yet, feel free

“I opted to take on Vau. He had a real Mando iron saber, and I was unarmed. I just went at him. I never wanted to kill so badly in my life and he just cut me up. [...]” ― Atin to Fi, Republic Commando: Triple Zero
It was about time I drew the man. I designed his armor using various references and my imagination, I just didn't want it to look like Jango's armor in black. I've got a soft spot for scarves, so I gave him one. For Mird I tried the stay close to my original concepts of it, but with more skin and color on its coat. And I added a collar too, because it's mentioned it has one in True Colors (and also in Triple Zero, indirectly). I'm still not sure about the size of a strill, but since Vau keeps scooping Mird up in his arms, I don't think it can be bigger than that. Also, I think a beskad is supposed to be shorter, but I liked it like this so... artistic liberty, I guess.
References for the pose below the cut.
I decided to make the pose with one of my little men and to trace over it. For Mird I used a Shar Pei 3D model to help me with the perspective.

something about remembrances. it’s a really neat idea! I don’t even remember if clones doing that is pure fanon or something from legends we all refuse to let go of, but it’s good nonetheless
also makes a pretty good intro to these OCs! A group of clones, who found themselves thrown together by more or less chance (or fate?) as who Kyr dechipped at random, and they deserted from the Empire. This is set pretty soon after that. Leaving the Empire became the only thing they would all agree on for a very long time.
Aurora (grey), the former Captain of the 104th’s Alpine Company (made up company).
Kyr (dark green), a medic, of the 87th Battalion (made up number).
Io (lime green), a reconditioned ARC trooper, formerly Ion of the 87th.
Machi (red), a sniper, from the Coruscant Guard.
Strill (blue), a fighter pilot, of the 533rd’s Tradewind Squadron.
#not pictured: me trying desperately not to make the guard emblem look like a dick. and also not yap about their characters#that’s what the comic is for! so you all get a picture of who they are as people!#an important note tho: Aurora is she/her and Machi is they/them#albatross crew tag#oh yeah! their ship is called The Albatross. Strill named it :) because they spend so much time in space and barely land (harder to track)#oh fuck me. ignore me fucking up mando'a verbs i just noticed I goofed the conjugation a few times while I was writing the ID#sw#clone trooper oc#clone oc#aurora (oc)#machi (oc)#kyr (oc)#io (oc)#strill (oc)#star wars oc

Fi watched Darman's head drop for a moment, but there wasn't so much as a breath or a click of teeth. He snapped back to his alert position. Fi wasn't sure if he was afraid for Etain's safety or of what she might do, and he didn't plan to ask. "Vau doesn't need that strill when he's got a Jedi with him." "He takes Mird everywhere,", Mereel said. "Like Mando fathers take their sons into battle." "If I didn't know Old Psycho was a head case, I'd say that was cute. What is it going to do?" "You've never seen a strill hunt, have you?" Mereel didn't say another word. He signaled advance to Niner with a sweep of his hand and the squad sprinted for the perimeter of the landing strip.

Star Wars: Republic Commando: Triple Zero, Chapter 4
"Mereel was on Kamino. If Zey was heard to mutter that the Nulls were Skirata's private army, he wasn't entirely wrong."
You say that like it's a good thing.
"'I never said good-bye to the lads who didn't come back, that's all. I lost nine out of my batch.'
'But the last time you saw them, you left them feeling confident, respected, and loved. That's enough for any buir to achieve.'"
*narrows eyes* *with a remarkable amount of spite* I fucking doubt that calling them "wet-droids" made them feel loved. Just because you're constantly licking daddy's boots doesn't mean everyone else does.
Okay, that was going a little far. But everyone talking about this asshole like he's the ideal parent makes me want to throw something across the room. Hard. And repeatedly.
"'Have you met Sergeant Kal yet?'
'No.' Kal was always there for Darman, somewhere, even at times like this when she wanted to say so much to him.'
'Darman beamed, clearly delighted. 'Oh, you'll like him, General. You'll really like him.'
Etain certainly hoped so. And if she didn't, then she'd try, for Darman's sake."
*beaming smile* I'll just list things off, shall I?
"Even at times like this when she wanted to say so much to him." Etain, I want to say so much to him as well. It isn't what you want to say, though. It's a bit more...profane.
"You'll really like him." I've been getting a look into this man's mind for the past few chapters. I don't fucking like him. I actually prefer Walon Vau, since he's at least open about the fact that he's an asshole.
"And if she didn't, then she'd try, for Darman's sake." I could not try. It would end in an attempted strangulation.
"Vau was settled in one of the deeply upholstered hide chairs with the strill draped across his lap on its back, all six of its legs flopping in an undignified sprawl while he scratched its belly. Its huge fanged mouth was slack, tongue lolling, and a long skein of drool hung almost to the floor. Its body was a meter long, lengthened by a whip of a tail covered in more loose skin.
The strill was still prettier than Vau, though. The man had a long square-jawed face that was all bone and frown lines, and graying hair cut brutally short. Faces rarely lied about the soul within."
MIRD!!
PRECIOUS BABY!!
Oh, yeah, and its human servant. Great to see him too.
Who is the most adorable little killing machine?! It's you~
Mird, My Beloved: 1
"'The Jedi Council is pretty adept at turning blind eyes,' Skirata said. 'For an organization that knew it was taking on an army with an assassination capability, you do send out conflicting signals to simple soldiers like me.'
Vau was watching like a man being mildly amused by a holovid. The strill yawned with a thin, high-pitched whine."
Mird, My Beloved: 2
*sourly* I'm glad someone is amused by this.
"'We didn't even know we had an army until a year ago.'
'Maybe, but the fact that you're sitting here now with a general's rank means you've accepted responsibility for it. You could have objected, collectively or individually. You could have asked questions. But no. You picked up the blaster you found on the floor and you just fired it to defend yourself. Expedience ambushes you in the end.'"
*in the most fake nice way imaginable* Fuck. You.
Lemme just break this down a little...
"You could have objected, collectively or individually."
They did.
"You could have asked questions."
They did.
The problem isn't that the Jedi didn't try to find a way to object or that they didn't try to investigate. The problem is that the Separatists were actively attacking, the Senate wanted a war, and Palpatine had manipulated everything so they had no other choice. They took the role of Generals and Commanders because they felt that it was the best way to prevent excessive casualties and lessen suffering.
But, no. It's all the Jedi's fault. It isn't that they're a group that was not and never has been intended for a military position who have just been forced into this role. It isn't that they're trying to keep to their principles in the middle of a situation they are not meant for. It isn't that the chaos of the war made it so that trying to object or figure out what the hell was going on impossible.
In conclusion...
WHY DON'T YOU ASK JEDI WHAT THEY FEEL ABOUT THE SITUATION AND WHAT THEY DID? THEY'D TALK TO YOU. THEY'RE NICE, REASONABLE PEOPLE. I"M SURE THAT YOU'D LEARN A LOT MORE IF YOU HAD AN ACTUAL CONVERSATION INSTEAD OF RANTING ABOUT A GROUP OF PEOPLE YOU BARELY KNOW.

"'Oh no, I'm just a civilian now,' Vau said. The strill rumbled. Vau, apparently distracted, fondled its ghastly, stinking head, his slightly narrowed eyes revealing a doting affection that he never seemed to spare for any other living creature."
I'm going to make this clear right now: I like Vau considerably more than Skirata. 80% of that affection comes from Mird.

"'How far is too far, Kal? Can you answer that? How far did you go?' Vau called after him. 'I made that boy a warrior. Without me, he wouldn't be alive today.'
With him, Ordo thought, Atin very nearly wasn't."
Vau's training methods are a discussion for another time.
(I still prefer him to Skirata. Like I said, Vau's open about the fact that he's a bastard, unlike some people.)
"It was delightful to see the mix of armor -- yellow-striped commanders and pilots, plain white troopers, and the motley mix of commando colors -- drawn together in one ancient Mandalorian ritual, every face the same.
Etain felt adrift, excluded.
She had never truly felt this degree of bond with her Jedi clan. The connection in the Force was there, yes, but....no, the real strength here was attachment, passion, identity, meaning."
Attachment is not love. Attachment is not a good thing. Passion is not a good thing for a Jedi. I am explaining this in small words for the author's benefit.
Also, nice shit you just took on the Jedi's Youngling Clans.
(Don't fucking insult the Jedi Younglings. They're adorable and have done nothing wrong, ever.)
Given the fixation on (relatively nuclear and standard by sci-fi standards) families in this series, this really feels like a jab at the "fact" that *extremely mocking voice* ThE JedI DOn'T HAve FaMilIEs.
Jedi-Bashing: 9
That's it. I'm exhausted by this series' bullshit and it's only been one chapter. Thankfully, I have a vacation coming up where I can ignore these books and concentrate on actually good Star Wars content. Once I'm done decompressing, I'll be ranting about this again.

I will take this concept of strill over the dog-like (as wookiepedia says) from 2010 Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 5 by Shea Standefer any day any time
but so far those are the only two official sources outside RepCom book series to give some idea of how strills could look. Which drives me crazy because we deserve to have more strill pictures!
Star Wars Roleplaying Game: The Unknown Regions
#star wars#strills#the dog like is mird from what i saw on wookiepedia#strills should be cat like#you can pry this headcanon from my cold dead hands#though i would like see a mix between cat and bird too#anyway for animal to be some liked by mandos and be native to mandalore we barely see any mention of them ;/#and it is over decade since repcom series ended#i'm gonna be forever bitter about that
