what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? i have not written an angsty ending fic for marauders fandom. there are quite a few angsty fics from my old fandom, but currently just riding my fluffy, smutty waves. though technically every cliché is a little true (or a lot). could be considered the teeniest bit angsty since Remus and Sirius are sort of not seeing each other in that one.

what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? all my fics are happy, but i suppose one feels the happiest about the ending in M.A.T.E.[s].

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? haven't done that, and my stance is pretty neutral. it's good when it fits whatever is happening in the fic.

what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? i'm not planning on hopping fandoms anytime soon, but there are definitely lots of ships i want to write for hp. moonchaser, blackcest, sirry, sirius/draco, love the idea of drarry, but not sure if i'm brave enough for that one.

WIP WEDNESDAY

Posted, as is tradition, on Thursday in Australia because I’m terrible but @rbkzz cracked the whip to post my WIP.

So, sneak peak from Ch 19 of On The Rocks:

I fumble with my phone, dialling his number with my heart in my throat.

It doesn’t even ring. Just straight to voicemail - his dulcet, resonant voice saying “You have reached Basilton Grimm-Pitch. Please leave a concise message.” His precise, RP becomes clipped and forceful on the word ‘concise’ and if I weren’t so terrified I’d laugh at the grumpy git.

Instead I immediately, stupidly, re-dial. And then again. And again. Ten more times. (I remember some probably bollocks Einstein quote about insanity being doing the same shit over and over and expecting different outcomes, and it’s not lost on me that I’m literally in the fucking nut house doing exactly that.)

This Is literally definition of myself. I’m in the perpetual state of overwhelm though.

First you procrastinate on the task because it is not a big enough deal to get done urgently. Then you procrastinate on the task because it has become such a big deal that doing it is overwhelming. You would think that this implies a middle point where it is just big enough of a deal to get done easily, however the inherent perversity of the universe's causal geometry prevents this

do you respond to comments? As much as I can, but I get a bit overwhelmed with nice messages and then feel silly just telling people *thank you* and don’t know how to make it personal. But I love them all so much and read them when I’m feeling bad about writing :)

what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? They all have happy endings but Never Before Like This has murder… so probably that one

what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending? Probably June! It has a marriage ceremony :)

do you write crossovers? Kind of, I’ve written Wolfstar in other universes - howls moving castle and stardew valley - but there is no crossover with characters

what's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? So so many. At the moment mostly either my Remus as a statue AU or the Stardew Valley one (come talk to me about either maybe it’ll get things going)

what are your writing strengths? I think descriptions? I like doing descriptions.

what are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue tags 😂 I have to go back over all the dialogue and add them in because I alway forget it.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Love it. French for the Black brothers, Welsh for Remus, Latin for everyone (because they should speak Latin!!) I mean Dunes has dirty talk in ancient Egyptian.

what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? Hobbit/LOTR. There are some dynamics there that I would love to explore but I’m currently hyper fixated here so that probably won’t happen any time soon.

what's your favourite fic you've written? Probably If the Fates Allow. It’s a very short Wolfstar-in-space thing and it wasn’t as involved as Dunes or June, for example, but there is something about it I really like

5 boring facts about me

Tagged by the loveliest people @lovelymasks and @euripidestrousers . But this was actually such a hard thing to do. I don’t think I have a very good concept of the word boring. And every time people post these I feel like they are the most fun and interesting facts ever. But here I go.

1. I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance.

2. I’m clumsy as hell, and the number of scars on my hands and arms from cooking is also ridiculous.

3. For the longest I thought I’m not allergic to anything until like two years ago I found out that when your tongue feels itchy when you eat something, it’s because you’re allergic to it. Looks like I might be allergic to raw walnuts.

4. I hardly remember anything from my childhood.

5. I have a huge scented candle collection. Not because I collect them but because for some reason people always think of giving them to me and I never light them.

Anyway, this is it. I almost wanted to add one about my bad back as I am at the hospital with it at the moment, but that bored me to death.

I really try to! I love comments so much! but I'm very often like "wow that was an incredible comment. let me take some time to construct a reply," and then it's fully a year later and I realize I still haven't responded.

what's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Duty (2k, Regulus/Sirius) or Waxing Gibbous, October 1981 (6k, wolfstar + Remus/Fenrir) because nothing hits harder than canon compliant first war fic when you know exactly what's coming and still hope for something different anyway.

what's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

It's debatable but I think Icarus (20k, Parvati/Millicent/Pansy). That's a fic that really earns its hopeful ending for these women as they struggle with their substance use.

do you write crossovers?

haven't yet, and don't plan to, but life is long!

have you ever received hate on a fic?

honestly not really. I think someone tried to hate on the Sirius/Bellatrix mentions in Till Tomorrow or Till Death but they were so vague about their wording I choose to believe that they were enthusiastic instead. It helps to mostly write rarepairs and femslash and very obviously tagged dead dove content.

do you write smut?

I'm doing my best!

have you ever had a fic stolen?

nope

have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, into Russian but then the translator took it down (along with all of her Russian translations) in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. (Slava Ukraini!)

have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope! I would have thought it was something I couldn't handle doing, but roleplaying is making me wonder if I could.

what's a wip that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

my unposted 40k of Black family fic where Andromeda doesn't run away and Sirius sorts Slytherin. It would be really long and epic, and I only want to start posting it if I actually believe I'd see it through.

what are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, sentence flow, grammar, character voice (sometimes, always working on it)

what are your writing weaknesses?

Description. I'm one of those people who doesn't visualize anything, and so I forget that other people do and would benefit from any visual sense of what's going on. Sensory details in general - I tend to get super into my character's heads and am too into their internal world and not enough in the external world (which is also reflective of how I as a person operate in the world). I also tend to get handwavy about things I don't care about in general.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

that is such a specific question haha. do people really have big feelings about that? I included a little French in my Flonks fic but only a little.

what's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

because of the roleplay, Draco has taken over my brain in a dangerous way. I want to write Draco/Sirius, Draco/Harry, and Draco/Regulus now!

✨Saturday Snippet✨

@wylanlupin tagged me in wip wednesday but this is the first day I've had to chance to properly look at my fics all week :")

I'm currently bouncing between three fics I want to finish in 2 weeks - this is the opening to a NYE fic/sequel to Sweet Dreams. Maybe posted sometime this month, maybe posted next year, we'll see!! (Very minor spoiler alert for those reading along to the realtime updates lmao)

Regulus is good at hosting parties, great in fact if he does say so himself. It almost certainly has something to do with his parents - the etiquette lessons that were drilled into him since childhood by his mother and later the networking events he's attended with his father, learning those little tricks on how to read a client and win them over. Regulus has developed a bit of passion for it. He knows what people like, enjoys planning an evening that he knows his guests will appreciate. So when Sirius had floated the idea of spending New Year's in London, Regulus took it into his hands to arrange. It's only a small affair, just Sirius and a handful of friends. And Remus. And Teddy. Regulus hasn't had the pleasure of meeting his brother's new boyfriend yet. There have been some brief conversations while on the phone with Sirius, and Regulus did a fair bout of internet stalking when they first started dating (he may have been ever so slightly concerned that Sirius’ very uncharacteristic decision to drop his entire life for someone he’d just met was some sort of romance scam and he wanted enough foresight to protect as much of his assets before Sirius came slinking back to London with his tail between his legs.) But twelve months later Sirius is still in Scotland, hasn’t lost all his money in a shotgun marriage and the subsequent divorce, and seems the happiest he’s ever been in a long time. And from the little Regulus knows about him, he has to admit Remus seems like a decent guy. Maybe lacking in taste when it comes to men, but then he’d gotten Regulus and advanced proof of Emily Wilson’s Iliad translation which permanently landed Remus in his good books.

A little treat for everyone who actually follows me for wolfstar content! i brainstormed a bit with @goldenlionprince yesterday and with @diamondmeadow & @lovelymasks a little ago, which helped me to finally place Remus in The Bodyguard AU! This scene can be a little after @neverenoughmarauders' ficlet, where Sirius asks Remus for intel about Rosier Jr. offscreen. The warehouse fire refers to the aftermatch of the kidnapping scenario, and a little easter egg is Lockhart as the news reporter! 😉

A little backstory under the cut!

He is an old soldier buddy of Sirius, they went to the same military school and joined the army together after they graduated. While Sirius is talented in almost every aspect of military duty, especially combat, Remus's true talent is military intelligence. He is still an intelligence officer working for Defence Intelligence as an analyst, and Sirius sometimes asks him to check or give him certain intel. Remus also knows about the details of the illegal covert operation Sirius was part of and how he got his reputation as The Grim. He helped making the fake new identity of Stubby Boardman when Sirius decided to leave the forces. They were together for a while, broke up eventually (Remus married Sirius' cousin), but they remained friends. They have a tradition to meet once every month to spend the day together doing things they added to a bucket list during their active military time or just hang out, brunch and go to a museum (their favourite is the Natural History Museum🦕). As they keep total radio silence during these, it is often assumed that they are having an affair. They never explicitly deny this, because they are both little shits who enjoy confusing people for fun. Remus referred the bodyguard job to Sirius, when he encountered the intel about James (and his work) being threatened.
