Birthday starter for Sam from Zelda!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❛ Happy birthday, Stanford. ❜ Zelda hands him a tiny box, the contents of which are a gag gift and an actual gift. The first: a Columbia Law School keychain – and the second: an iron dagger encased in a leather sheath. ❛ Something about it just screamed 'Sam' to me. ❜
@decimatlas !
his brows lift slightly, as the box it pushed into his hands. “this is a surprise.” sam glances up to zelda, a lopsided smile pulling against his lips. “you didn’t have to get me anything, really.” his eyes glance back towards the box, as his hand pulls the top off. his eyes find the keychain first, resting atop paper tissue. his eyes roll as he pulls it out of the box, holding it up for her to see. “you’re ridiculous.” he shakes his head, sitting the keychain next to his box. ( he’ll argue with himself about putting it on his keyring when he’s alone. )
he pushes the tissue paper to the side. his brow raise in surprise, as he pulls the dagger from the box. he pushes the box to the side. he leans forward on his elbows, his eyes inspecting the leather sheath. ( he’s not sure if he’s ever been given something this nice. ) he pulls the sheath off, his eyes glancing over the shinning blade. his smile returns to his lips, his eyes glancing towards zelda. “this is really great. thank you.”

2021 Book List
Some highlights from this year of reading!
Tumblr media
1: The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson: My first foray into the delightful story teller that is Jonas Jonasson! An incredibly witty and winding adventure!
2: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson: Having heard so much about this series, I was quickly enamored with the details of plot and the dark turn it took.
3: Middlemarch by George Elliot: One of my favourites I read this year! Classic literature will always have my heart.
4: The Beauty of Your Face by Sahar Mustafah: This was also a highlight read for me! A incredibly nuanced look Muslim religion in a western country.
5: Women Talking by Miriam Toews: Heartbreakingly emotional.
6: Medicine Walk by Richard Wagamese: Beautifully written with emotive prose.
7: The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett: A stunning story full of nuance which unfortunately was finished with a hurried ending.
8: Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler: This book was a surprising highlight with rich imagery and unique story telling!
9: Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi: A fascinating look into growing up as a woman in Iran.
10: Pure: Inside the Evangelical Movement that Shamed a Generation of Young Women and How I Broke Free by Linda Kay Klein: A book that takes a hard look at purity culture through the stories of those most affected.
11: Educated by Tara Westover: I always enjoy reading extremist religious biographies! This one was extraordinary!
12: Alone on the Wall by Alex Honnold: I first encountered Alex while at the Banff Mountain Film Festival and have since found him a fascinating human. A gripping read!
13: Taste: My Life Through Food by Stanley Tucci: An incredibly warm and comforting book that made me want to approach food in a more intentional way. It was my goal to read 52 books this year and I just barely scraped by. Overall I loved having a goal to keep me motivated on my reading journey. Very much looking forward to this next year of reading!

Lukadrien Drabbles: Nachtmusik Chapter Two
A Little Night Music (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik) Chapter Two: (Don’t) Let Me Go
Adrien sighed as he sat on Luka’s bed, quietly strumming the acoustic guitar arrangement of This is Gospel by Panic! At the Disco that Luka had shown him several weeks before. He got to “the fear, the fear of” and stopped, his mind going blank at “falling apart”.
Luka looked up from where he sat at his desk working on his term paper: a comparative analysis of Maxim Gorky’s play The Lower Depths, the 1936 French film version of the same name by Jean Renoir, and the 1957 Japanese film version, Donzoko, directed by Kurosawa Akira.
“You okay, Angel?”
“Sorry.” Adrien conjured up a brittle imitation of a smile. “Just got lost in my own head for a second there.” He looked back down at his fingers, not really seeing them. “Um…Sorry. Where’s F again?” He smiled sheepishly, falling back on the now three-month-old inside joke in an attempt to cover up how raw he was feeling.
Luka got up and gently positioned Adrien’s hand.
The contact was brief but just enough to ground Adrien with its warmth and certainty when Adrien felt numb and lost.
“Thanks,” Adrien whispered, starting the song over.
Luka stood looking down at Adrien, studying him for a minute, as he played distractedly. “…Do you want to talk about it?”
Adrien’s fingers tripped over one another. “W-What? Sorry. What do you mean?”
Luka frowned as Adrien played dumb. “Sorry to pry,” Luka led in. “You just seem…off. Sad…. In pain. I was wondering if you wanted to talk about the reason behind that. You don’t have to, but I’m here if you want to.”
Adrien shook his head. “No. It’s nothing. I’m just being a little overly sensitive. It’s not a big deal.” He looked back down at the guitar, his vision swimming. “Uh…sorry. Where was F again?”
Luka took Adrien’s hand and moved it back into place.
Adrien felt like he could breathe again.
“I just want you to know that I’m always here, Perfect Fifth. You don’t ever have to do anything with that knowledge if you don’t want to. I just want you to have it on hand in case you do want someone to lend an ear.”
Adrien nodded, skipping ahead to the second verse. “Thank you, Orpheus.”
“Any time,” Luka stressed, giving Adrien’s hair a ruffle before going back to his desk to resume work on his paper.
Adrien gave up on This is Gospel and tried his hand at a few melodies from The Legend of Zelda series as well as the Mario franchise. They all blurred into one another. The notes were like paint running together to create an unflattering, musical muddy-brown color.
Adrien stopped playing and just stared down at the frets, mentally counting them over and over again in an attempt to ground his mind. He kept losing track around seven.
The bed shifted as Luka sat down beside him.
Adrien’s gaze jerked up. “S-Sorry. Am I bothering you?”
Luka shook his head. “Never, P5. You just look like you need someone to sit with you, even if you don’t want to talk.”
Guilt hit Adrien like a breaking wave battering the base of a craggy cliff. “I didn’t mean to disturb you. I’m sorry. I know you’re working on your paper. If I’m distracting you, I should just go ho—”
Adrien’s voice broke on the word, a stabbing pain exploding in his chest.
Luka frowned, eyes searching Adrien’s. “You don’t have to go anywhere. I’m almost done with the paper, and the deadline isn’t for another week. I have time for you.”
“Unlike some people in your life,” Luka thought begrudgingly.
Luka sighed, muttering. “What did he do or say to you this time? Or was it Ladybug?”
It never ceased to amaze Luka all the varied ways in which those two could emotionally and mentally wear Adrien down.
Adrien flinched, pointedly looking away. “She didn’t…I don’t…My father wasn’t…”
Both of them, then. No wonder Adrien was such a mess.
“Shhh,” Luka comforted, resting a hand on Adrien’s shoulder. “You don’t have to talk about it. I was just…I’m sorry. I’ll keep the sarcastic commentary in my head.”
He gave Adrien’s back a pat and then let his hand slide off of Adrien’s arm.
The arm felt the poorer and colder for it.
They sat in silence for a few minutes before Luka broke into Adrien’s thought-maelstrom once more. “Is there anything I can do? Anything at all?”
Adrien smiled plastically, trying to project an air of levity. “Could you show me where F is again?”
Luka’s brow furrowed.
Usually, Adrien only put that joke into play twice of an evening. They were over their limit.
Still. Luka dutifully took Adrien’s trembling hand…and froze. He let go.
Adrien’s face spasmed in momentary panic until Luka changed the angle of his wrist to thread his fingers through Adrien’s.
Adrien’s heart fluttered, relief flooding over him at the touch.
Luka squeezed gently, whispering, “I finally got the joke. I’m ashamed it took me three months. I’m sorry.”
“W-What?” Adrien studied Luka’s expression nervously.
Luka looked up, meeting Adrien’s gaze with a sad look. “I always wondered why you asked about the finger placement for F. Every time, I just went with it, kind of accepting that it was one of our things…but it was never about the note. It never had anything to do with finding the note…and I knew that. I knew you didn’t need me to show you, but what I didn’t realize was…”
Adrien’s eyes widened, and he tried to pull back his hand.
Luka held fast, giving Adrien a heartbreaking smile. “…in order to show you the note, I had to take your hand. The thing you wanted was the contact. You ask about F when you want someone to touch you.”
Adrien’s face flushed in shame at being found out. “Sorry. I—”
“—Adrien,” Luka cut him off. “You can ask for whatever you need at any time.”
It was obvious that Adrien still didn’t believe him, even after three months of trying to drill the concept into Adrien’s head.
“I don’t mind,” Luka stressed. “I don’t. I want to give you whatever you need. I want you to need me. I want to help however you need me to help.”
Adrien shook his head slowly. “I don’t understand.”
“You don’t have to understand to accept my affection….” Luka pursed his lips, debating before diving in head first. “May I hold you?”
Adrien gave a start. “I—What?”
“May I hold you?” Luka repeated.
Tentatively, Adrien nodded.
Luka gently took the guitar and set it aside. He scooted to the top of the bed and carefully pulled Adrien down into his arms on top of him.
Adrien stiffened at first.
“Is this okay?” Luka wondered, chewing nervously on his bottom lip, questioning whether he’d gone too far.
“Mn,” Adrien hummed contentedly, relaxing as he stopped fighting the warmth and comfort and relief welling up inside himself and just sank into Luka’s protective hold.
He stopped worrying about being needy and overstepping boundaries and taking advantage of Luka’s kind, giving nature and just let himself melt into solidity, security, and the smell of pine.
Luka slowly began to run his hand up and down Adrien’s back.
The trials of the day and Adrien’s other relationships sloughed off as he buried his face in Luka’s neck.
Encouraged by the positive reaction, Luka began to massage Adrien’s scalp gently, eliciting a rumbly purr.
Luka chuckled, making sure to get really well behind Adrien’s ears.
The purr only got stronger until, twenty minutes later, Adrien drifted off to sleep.
Rationalizing that a cat nap never hurt anyone, Luka joined him.

desdemona -- ??????????????????????????????? we just don’t know. i guess keaton or laslow? she’s only 18 though so i might be pickier wrt her... she’s conquest, so hoshido muses are probably a bad idea. again, sibs, second gens, and azura are a No.

Translation: “The Minish Cap” in German, Part 3: The Picori Festival
We go to the Picori Festival with Zelda and receive a dinky shield. Fantastic! What could possibly go wrong? Here is my translation of the German version of "The Minish Cap" to English!
My translation key: DT: „direct translation" (translated word for word) EQ: "English equivalent" (as in, as close to an English-sounding sentence as it's gonna get) DT/EQ: „"direct translation/English equivalent" (for when the DT is so similar to an EQ that it's practically English already) OE: "offical English (translation as given in the European English version of "The Minish Cap")" (NOTE:) "anything I need to point out" (exactly what it says on the tin) BG: „backwards German" for the Minish language in reverse form
My translation work under the cut.
Prinzessin Zelda: „Hier bin ich, Link!" DT: „Here am I, Link!" EQ: "Here I am, Link!" OE: "Link! Over here!"
ITEM GET: „Du hast ein Herz gefunden! Etwas Energie kann nie schaden." DT: „You x a heart found! Some energy can never hurt." EQ: "You found a heart! Some energry never hurts." OE: "You got a heart! Your life energy has been slightly replenished."
ITEM GET: „Grünen Rubin erhalten! Klein aber fein!" DT: „Green Rubin received! Small but fine!" EQ: "Received a green Rubin! Small, but fine!" OE: "You got 1 Rupee. It's green! Don't spend it all in one place!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Link! Komm! Beeilen wir uns!" DT: „Link! Come! Hurry we us!" EQ: "Link! Come! Let's hurry!" OE: "Link! Hurry! Let's go!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Hier entlang! Na los! Beeil dich!" DT: „Here along! Come on! Hurry you(rself)!" EQ: "This way! Come on! Hurry up!" OE: "Over here! Come on! Hurry up!" (NOTE: „dich" is reflexive.)
Prinzessin Zelda: „So das ist Stadt Hyrule!" DT: „So this is City Hyrule!" EQ: "So this is Hyrule City!" OE: "Well, here we are! The town of Hyrule!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Guck mal, Link! Das wird ein Spaß!" DT: „Look (softener), Link! This will a fun!" EQ: "Look, Link! This will be fun!" OE: "Here we are, Link! Doesn't it look fun?"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Komm, wir gehen da hin!" DT: „Come, we go there!" EQ: "Come, let's go over there!" OE: "Come on! Let's look around!"
DT: „Link check but once the storyteller out!" EQ: "Link, check out this storyteller!" OE: "Link, there's a storyteller here! We should stop and listen to--" (NOTE: „hör zu" idiomatically means "to check out something" while addressing one person, such as Zelda to Link.)
Prinzessin Zelda: „He! Was ist das da?" DT/EQ: „"Hey! What is that there?" OE: "Oh! I wonder what's over there..."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Minish gibt es also wirklich! Vater behauptet das auch immer!" DT: „Minish there are so real! Father claims that also always!" EQ: "There really are Minish! Father also always claimed that!" OE: "So the Picori ARE real! My father always told me they were."
Prinzessin Zelda: „He! Was ist das da?" DT/EQ: „"Hey! What is that there?" OE: "Oh! Look at that!" (NOTE: And thus came the theory that Zelda has ADHD.)
Prinzessin Zelda: „Im Schloss fand ein Schwertkampf-Turnier statt! Wer wohl gewonnen hat?" DT: „At the castle took place a Sword-Fighting Tournament (x)! Who has won (x)?" EQ: "A Sword-Fighting Tournament took place at the castle! Who has won?" OE: "Say, wasn't there going to be a sword-fighting tournament at the castle?" (NOTE: „fand" and „statt" are translated together.)
Prinzessin Zelda: „Hmm... Und jetzt..." DT/EQ: „"Hmm... And now..." OE: "I wonder who won this year..."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Gehen wir da hin!" DT: „Go we there over!" EQ: "Let's go over there!" OE: "Oh, wow! Over there!"
Bruna: „Hauptgewinn!!!" DT/EQ: „Jackpot!!!" OE: "We have a winner!" (NOTE: Could also mean "first prize".)
Bruna: „Unglaublich! DT: „Unbelievable! You have with the lottery the jackpot drawn, Zelda!" EQ: "Unbelievable! You've drawn the jackpot of the lottery, Zelda!" OE: "Oh my! Princess Zelda! You won the grand prize in our drawing? Wow!" (NOTE: „gezogen", meaning "drawn" in the sense of "pulling". And Pina is Bruna.)
Bruna: „Also dann, such dir etwas aus!" DT: „So then, seek for you something out!" EQ: "So then, pick something out for yourself!" OE: "You get your choice of any of these wonderful prizes. What will it be?"
Bruna: „Da hätten wir... einen herzförmigen Stein!" DT: „Here had we... a heart-shaped stone!" EQ: "Here we have... a heart-shaped stone!" OE: "First, we have... this lovely heart-shaped stone!"
Bruna: „Oder..." DT/EQ: „"Or..." OE: "Next, we have..."
Bruna: „ein schönes, großes Juwel! Oder aber..." DT/EQ: „"a beautiful, large jewel! Or alternatively..." OE: "this magnificent gem! And finally, there's..."
Bruna: „...einen kleinen Schild." DT/EQ: „a small shield." OE: "this teeny-tiny shield."
Bruna: „Nun, wofür entscheidest du dich?" DT: „Well, for what choose you yourself?" EQ: "Well, what do you choose for yourself?" OE: "So, which one would you like?"
Bruna: „Das Juwel? Der herzförmige Stein ist auch sehr hübsch!" DT/EQ: „"The Jewel? The heart-shaped stone is also very pretty!" OE: "Let me guess... the jewel? Oh, but this heart stone is very cute, too."
Bruna: „Such dir aus, was dir gefällt!" DT: „Seek you out, what to you appeals!" EQ: "Pick what appeals to you!" OE: "Choose whichever one you like!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Ich nehme den kleinen Schild." DT/EQ: „"I'm taking the small shield." OE: "The shield is so adorable! I think I'll take it."
Bruna: „Wieso!?! Warum?!? Wieso denn das???" DT: „How so!?! Why?!? How so then that???" EQ: "Why so!?! Why?!! Why that, then???" OE: "What!? Why? Why would you want that ugly thing!?"
DT: „So a shield is neither beautiful nor flattering!" EQ: "Such a shield is neither beautiful nor flattering!" OE: "What about the heart stone! It's cute!"
Bruna: „Hier zum Beispiel: der herzförmige Stein. Ist doch hübsch, oder?!" DT: „Here for example: the heart-shaped stone. Is still pretty, or?!" EQ: "Here, for example: the heart-shaped stone. It's still pretty, isn't it?" OE: "Or... Or this giant gem! It's pretty!"
Bruna: „Oder hier: das Juwel. Eine wahre Augenweide, oder etwas nicht?!" DT: „Or here: the jewel. A real eyeful, or something not?!" EQ: "Or here: the jewel. A real eyeful, is it not?!" OE: "Honestly, they're both much nicer..."
DT: „These both things are still much better than the shield!" EQ: "Both of these things are still much better than the shield!" OE "...than that nasty little shield thing."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Nein, ich möchte diesen Schild. Könnte ich ihn bitte haben?" DT: „No, I would like this shield. Can I it please have?" EQ: "No, I would like this shield. Can I have it, please?" OE: "Nope! I want the shield. Can I have it?"
Bruna: „Fräulein Prinzessin, ihr seid komisch. Aber gut..." DT/EQ: „"Miss Princess, you are comical. But good..." OE: "What a strange princess you are. Well..."
Bruna: „Hier, bitte schön, der kleine Schild!" DT/EQ: „"Here, you go, the small shield!" OE: "OK. Here's your teeny-tiny shield." (NOTE: completely idiomatic.)
Prinzessin Zelda: „So! Den schenke ich dir!" DT: „So! This giving I to you!" EQ: "So! I'm giving this to you!" OE: "Here! I want to give you a present!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Der Schild steht Link gut, nicht wahr?" DT: „The shield suits Link well, not true?" EQ: "The shield suits Link well, doesn't it?" OE: "Doesn't this shield suit you perfectly, Link?"
ITEM GET: „Du hast von Zelda einen kleinen Schild erhalten!" DT: „You have from Zelda a small shield received!" EQ: "You received a small shield from Zelda!" OE: "Princess Zelda gave you a small shield!"
ITEM GET: „Lege ihn im Item-Menü auf A oder B." DT/EQ: „"Set it in the Item-Menu to A or B." OE: "Hold the button to protect yourself."
DT: „Keep the button pressed, in order the shield in front of you to keep!" EQ: "Keep the button pressed in order to keep the shield in front of you!" OE: "...It IS a little embarrassing, though."
ITEM GET: „Ein Geschenk von Zelda... für dich!" DT/EQ: „"A present from Zelda... for you!" OE: "It's so tiny!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Ja, wirklich! Du siehst toll damit aus!" DT/EQ: „"Yes, really! You look terrific with that out!" OE: "Yep! Just as I thought! You look great!" (NOTE: That's what she said.)
DT: „Now can you me protect, when I in danger come!" EQ: "Now you can protect me when I'm in danger!" OE: "Now, if anything happens, you can protect me with that shield!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Oh, schon so spät! Wir müssen das Schwert im Schloss..." DT: „Oh, already so late! We must the sword at the castle..." EQ: "Oh, so late already! We must leave the sword at the castle..." OE: "Oh! I almost forgot! We have to take Master Smith's sword to the castle."
Prinzessin Zelda: „...abgehen! Komm, Link, gehen wir!" DT: "...leave! Come, Link, going we!" EQ: "Come on, Link, we're going!" OE: "Let's go, Link."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Also dann, Link. Lass uns zum Scloss gehen!" DT: „So then, Link. Let us to the castle go!" EQ: "So then, Link. Let's go to the castle!" OE: "Come on, Link. Let's hurry to the castle."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Auaaa!" DT/EQ: „"Owww!" OE: "Owwwwch!"
DT: „These are the Merchant-Dekus, of which the soldiers told have." EQ: "There are the Merchant-Dekus that the soldiers spoke of." OE: "That must be the Business Scrub I heard the soldiers talking about."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Sie belästigen Passanten. Eine echte Plage, diese Laubkerle!" DT/EQ: „"They harass passersby. A real nuisance, those Deku Scrubs!" OE: "They were saying a Deku Scrub had been hassling all the passersby." (NOTE: Um... „Laubkerle" is the German word for "Deku Scrubs"... So...)
Prinzessin Zelda: „Link, tu doch etwas! So kommen wir nicht zum Schloss!" DT: „Link, do (x) something! So come we not to the castle!" EQ: "Link, do something! Or we can't get to the castle!" OE: "Link, do something about it! Otherwise, we can't get to the castle."
DT: „If you these nuts fend off, come we certainly somehow further." EQ: "If you fend off these nuts, we can certainly go further!" OE: "If only we had some way to defend ourselves against those nuts of his." (NOTE: THAT'S. WHAT. SHE. SAID. IN BOTH VERSIONS.)
Deku-Händler: „Tut mir Leid wegen der Nuss." DT: „Sorry because of the nut." EQ: "Sorry about the nut." OE: "Please! Forgive me, sir!" (NOTE: "Business Scrub" became "Deku-Merchant"/"Merchant-Deku". Although I have heard him refered to as the „Reicher Laubkerl", or "Rich Deku" before.)
DT: „I came (x) to the city, in order to on the Festival business dealings to make." EQ: "I came to the city in order to make business dealings at the Festival." OE: "I heard there was a festival, and I came to town hoping to hawk my wares."
DT: „But I come no words, but rather only nuts out of the mouth." EQ: "But I get no words, rather only nuts come out of my mouth." OE: "Unfortunately, we scrubs have a tendency to spit nuts when we speak!" (NOTE: What???)
DT: „All have fear against me and come not in my vicinity!" EQ: "All fear me and don't come near me!" OE: "Everyone got scared and ran away, and no one would buy anything!"
Also, zurück ins heimelige Dunkel!" DT: „So will that nothing for me the business. So, back to the homely darkness!" EQ: "So that will do nothing for the business. So, back to the homely darkness!" OE: "This is a terrible place to do business! I'm going back to my cave!"
DT: „The Merchant-Deku appears sweet (x), but he spits with nuts." EQ: "The Merchant-Deku looks sweet, but he spits nuts." OE: "I actually feel a little bit sorry for that Business Scrub. But that nut hurt!"
DT: „Well... Go we quickly to the castle and deliver the sword (x)!" EQ: "Well... Let's go and quickly deliver the sword to the castle!" OE: "Oh, well. He won't be hassling anyone now! We'd better hurry to the castle!" (NOTE: „ab" is translated with „liefern"; „abliefern".)

The Shape of Water - Book Review
Tumblr media
“It’s not even human,” he insists. (...) Before he can angle the portfolio case out of his own way and escape via the fire escape, just as he’s turning away, he catches her signed reply and it feels as if those signs brand themselves into his back, right through his jacket, his sweater, his shirt, his muscle, his bone, deep enough that the words ache like a fresh wound, all the way to Klein & Saunders, where they begin their itchy conversion into scars that he’ll be forced to read for the rest of his life:  “NEITHER ARE WE.”
“The Shape of Water” by Guillermo del Toro and Daniel Kraus is an amazing read. It begins rather brutal and picks that tone back up again and again throughout the whole story, but at the same time it’s gentle, sweet, poetic. The writing blew me away; if I had known that del Toro writes like that, I would have read one of his books much earlier.
The story is told in short chapters, each chapter is told from third person point of view of one of the important characters: Elisa, Giles, Zelda, Hoffstetler, Strickland, Elaine and even the creature. The reader gets to know , grows to love or hate them and still even the worst character is not without layers.
The book tackles many big topics, like racism, homophobia, feminism, the question of good and evil, finding yourself, but most of all love, friendship and loyalty.
Except for a few scenes there’s very little action, but I was never bored. Some might find the violence disturbing, the book can be very intense at times, and although I’m everything but squeamish, there were one or two scenes that almost made me a little sick. I’m not going to spoil anything here, but I think it’s safe to say that I’m talking about the fingers.
Other than most people who didn’t like the movie or the book I didn’t mind the idea of a woman being in love with a non-human creature, but this could easily have become ridiculous and I was a little worried about that. It’s not ridiculous or weird at all. Elisa’s relationship to the creature is so tender and sweet that I really just wanted them to have a happy end.
I’m not going to tell you whether the ending was happy or not; the only thing I will tell you is that it was as beautiful as the rest of the book (and no - this doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s happy, I may also find a sad or bittersweet ending beautiful).
Anyway, I loved the book and I can’t wait to watch the movie, which I’m planing to do this week. Afterwards there will be a movie review and a comparison to the book. As the movie is not based on the book but the other way around, I’m not expecting too many changes. I’m looking forward to see how the story is told on the screen.

I finally read a book! 😂 Due to my (still new-ish) obsession with video games (Animal Crossing, Zelda BOTW, & Hades most recently) my book reading came to an almost immediate halt. But Jessi Klein’s humor and just general attitude kept into it until the end. It’s all about balance and seasons in life, I guess. But hoping to bring the books in a little more this fall because that was my love first 🥰🤩 (at Taylor, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjqdzOaJlex/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Zelda prefers Reiner shaved or not?
Call her cliché, but she doesn’t have that strong of a preference either way. She’ll call him handsome when he’s got a bit of scruff, and handsome when he’s clean shaven! However, you’ll catch her reaching up and touching his face just a tiny bit more when he doesn’t shave — when he has that bit of scruff on his chin, under his nose. She doesn’t know why, but she does like the feel of it. Even if it does give her beard burn sometimes. But she isn’t heartbroken when he shaves it off! In fact, when he comes out with a clean shave, she always comments on how good he looks. She’s too smitten with him to let a beard or lack thereof sway her too much either way.

The Topologies of Zelda is a trippy take on the NES masterpiece
Is that this what it feels wish to journey acid?
One among my favourite video games of the previous decade is a superb little assortment known as NES Remix. From indiezero and Nintendo, this trio of video games took basic NES titles and reimagined how individuals performed them. It was an important success, however after watching the trailer beneath for Triforce, I notice there are such a lot of extra attention-grabbing methods to reimagine basic video games than simply changing Mario with Hyperlink.
From Patrick LeMieux and Stephanie Boluk, Triforce takes areas and areas from The Legend of Zelda and applies them to completely different 3D surfaces, every thing from a donut to a cylinder. The item of the sport is to find the three Triforce items, however there are different secrets and techniques to be discovered as effectively. It is a neat curio that’ll solely take you about 15 minutes to run via as soon as relying on how effectively you are capable of navigate the difficult dungeons. Be warned, enjoying with a touchpad as an alternative of a mouse does make for a tougher trek.

TRIFORCE: A Zelda “wierdo” Puzzle Game
Ein 3D-Puzzle im Stil von ‘The Legend of Zelda’ und teilweise an original Schauplätzen von Patrick LeMieux (@alt254) und Stephanie Boluk (@chouxsalad).
10.11.2018
Leicht durchgedreht und sehr abstrakt. Gibts Gratis hier für Mac und Windows. Mal gucken wie lange noch, weil Nintendo…
In The Legend of Zelda, there are several strange spaces hidden around Hyrule that defy the logic of the Cartesian grid: the Lost Woods, the Lost Hills, and the Lost Roads. When navigating these 2D mazes, Link finds himself endlessly looping, temporarily arrested by a classic gaming trope. But when visualized in 3D, these labyrinths start to look different. Triforce features a non-Euclidean Hyrule full of donuts, Möbius strips, and Klein bottles as well as other secrets folded within the topologies of Zelda. Can you navigate three new dungeons in three dimensions to discover the three pieces of the triforce?

Translation: “The Minish Cap” in German, Part 2: Zelda Arrives at Link’s House
Zelda awakens us and gets us to go to a festival. Not much else occurs. Yet, the madness continues.
Prinzessin Zelda: „Guten Tag, Onkel Alberich!" DT/EQ: "Good day, Uncle Alberich!" OE: "Good morning, Master Smith!" (NOTE: Master Smith is Alberich. Princess Zelda is still called "Princess Zelda".)
Alberich: „Hoppla! Die kleine Zelda!" DT: „Oops! (The) little Zelda!" EQ: "Oops! Little Zelda!" OE: "Goodness me! Princess Zelda!" (NOTE: „die" is used here to denote familiarity. It's "the Zelda that you and I both know about".)
Alberich: „Bist du ganz alleine vom Schloss hierher gelaufen?" DT: „(x) you all alone from the castle here ran?" EQ: "You ran here from the castle all alone?" OE: "Did you sneak out of the castle and come all this way alone?" (NOTE: „bist" sets up for conversational past here.)
DT: „This shall to the Minister certainly not appeal!" EQ: "The Minister certainly won't like that!" OE: "The minister is sure to be worried about you! You know how he gets!"
DT: „Oh, is but not so bad! Where is then Link?" EQ: "Oh, but it's not so bad! Where is Link, then?" OE: "Oh, don't worry about him! He'll be fine. Where's Link?"
DT: „The city is full of excitement, because the annual Minish-Festival takes place!" EQ: "The city if full of excitement because the annual Minish Festival is taking place!" OE: "The whole town is bustling for the annual Picori Festival!"
Prinzessin Zelda: „Ich bin gekommen, weil ich mit Link dort hingehen will. Dürfen wir?" DT: „I (x) came, because I with Link there go there want. May we?" EQ: "I came because I want to go there with Link. May we?" OE: "I thought he and I might go together. Would you mind terribly?"
Alberich: „Ach, so ist das!" DT: „Oh, so is that!" EQ: "Oh, so that's it!" OE: "Oh, is that what you're here for?"
DT: „Link (x) to me yesterday up till late in the night with (the) work helped." EQ: "Link helped me with work late last night." OE: "Well, Link was up late helping me last night,"
DT: „Link sleeps still, stand but certainly soon get up." EQ: "Link is still sleeping, but certainly, he'll get up soon." OE: "and he's still asleep..." (NOTE: Fun fact, in military terms, „auf" means "Get up!")
DT: „I must still something to the castle deliver. That could Link..." EQ: "I still have something I must deliver to the castle. Link could..." OE: "But I do have an errand at the castle..."
DT: „...then for me do, if you all together to the city go!" EQ: "...do that for me if you go together to the city!" OE: "Yes, that should be fine."
Alberich: „Haaallooo! Link!" DT/EQ: „"Heeellooo! Link!" OE: "Link, time to get up!"
Alberich: „Haaallooo! Link!" DT/EQ: „"Heeellooo! Link!" OE: "Link, time to get up!" (NOTE: Yes, this is said twice.)
Alberich: „Ah, Link!" DT/EQ: „"Ah, Link!" OE: "Hey! Link!"
DT: „Zelda is here, because she with you to the Minish Festival go would like." EQ: "Zelda is here because she would like to go with you to the Minish Festival." OE: "Princess Zelda is here. She'd like to know if you'd join her at the festival."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Hallo, Link. Komm, lass uns auf das Fest gehen!" DT: „Hello, Link. Come, let us to the festival go!" EQ: "Hello, Link. Come on, let's go to the festival!" OE: "Yeah, Link! Come on! Let's go check out the festival together!"
DT: „Uncle Alberich has nothing objecting!" EQ: "Uncle Alberich has no objections!" OE: "Master Smith already gave me permission to take you!"
DT: „Indeed, so a festival there is not every day. Go just with Zelda there." EQ: "Indeed, there's not a festival every day. Just go with Zelda there." OE: "Yes. After all, the festival only comes once a year. Go on, have fun!" (NOTE: Ah, yes. The infamous backwards „gibt es" idiomatic translation.)
Alberich: „Ach, und noch etwas..." DT/EQ: „"Oh, and still something..." OE: "And while you're there, you can do me a favor."
Alberich: „Das Schwert ist jetzt fertig. Bitte bring es dem Minister im Schloss!" DT/EQ: „"The sword is now finished. Please bring it to the Minister of the Castle!" OE: "I just finished making this sword for the minister at Hyrule Castle."
DT: „Actually should I it to him bring, but I have here more to do." EQ: "Actually, I should bring it to him, but I have more to do here." OE: "I'd like you to deliver it to him."
ITEM GET: „Schwert des Alberich erhalten!" DT: „Sword of (the) Alberich received!" EQ: "Received the Sword of Alberich!" OE: "You accepted the Smith's Sword!"
ITEM GET: „Liefere es unbeschadet ab! Und verliere es nicht!" DT: „Deliver it unscathed from! And lose it not!" EQ: "Deliver it unscathed! And don't lose it!" OE: "Make sure you don't lose this extremely important delivery!"
DT/EQ: „"The Sword is the prize for the winner of the Sword-fighting Tournament." OE: "This is the blade that will be presented to the winner of the competition."
Alberich: „Also, verlier es nicht! Zelda is die Prinzessin von Hyrule." DT: „So, lose it not! Zelda is the Princess of Hyrule." EQ: "So, don't lose it! Zelda is the Princess of Hyrule." OE: "Don't lose it. And while the two of you may be childhood friends, remember... Zelda is the princess of Hyrule."
Alberich: „Gibt Acht, dass ihr nichts passiert!" DT: „Take heed, that to her nothing happens!" EQ: "Take heed that nothing happens to her!" OE: "You watch over her. Don't let anything bad happen to her."
Prinzessin Zelda: „Mach dir keine Sorgen, Onkel! Also, Link, auf in die Stadt!" DT: „Do for you not any worries, Uncle! So, Link, on to the city!" EQ: "Don't worry, Uncle! So, Link, on to the city!" OE: "Master Smith, quit worrying! We'll be perfectly safe! Come on, Link! Let's go check out the festival!"
ITEM GET: „Roten Rubin (= 20 Grüne Rubine) erhalten! Was für ein Glück!" DT: „Red Rubin (= 20 green Rubine) recieved! What for a luck!" EQ: "Received a red Rubin (equivalent to 20 green Rubine)! What luck!" OE: "You got 20 Rupees! That's great." (NOTE: „Rubin/Rubine" are the German version of Rupee/Rupees. It literally means "ruby/rubies". I decided not to translate it due to it being the name of the currency.)

Here's a list of the Top 10 Discontinued Food Items We Miss. This is part 4 of our discontinued foods we miss series, where we count down the food items we wish would be brought back! ➡️ Subscribe to BabbleTop: https://bit.ly/2Uu3HPe Honestly, we could talk about discontinued snack food items we miss all day long. Which is why we’re making this fourth installment. Some really fantastic products have been discontinued over the years, and in this list, we’ll be commemorating some of the ones we miss the most. We’re sorry if this reminds you of all the great food you’re missing out on, but this way everyone can be nostalgic together. Now, let’s get into some more discontinued food items we miss - part 4. If you enjoyed this list of snacks, the Top 10 discontinued food items we miss part 4, then comment: #Food #Discontinued #Nostalgia TIMESTAMPS: 0:28 Colored EZ Squirt Ketchup 1:55 Planter’s Cheez Balls 3:12 Nintendo Cereal System 4:34 Ghostbusters Marshmallows 5:57 Trix Yogurt 7:19 Scooby-Doo Baked Graham Cracker Sticks 8:40 3rd Degree Burn Scorchin’ Habanero Doritos 10:00 Waffle Crisp Cereal 11:16 Oreo Cakesters 12:35 Squeezit SUMMARIES: - Sure, tomatoes do naturally grow in a variety of colors other than red, including green, yellow, and even purple. However, trying to translate this diversity in ketchup form…well, it came out looking anything but natural. - Planter’s Cheez Balls were a hit in the nineties. These puffed, powdered cheese covered balls were addicting and delicious. Unfortunately, they were also discontinued in the early 2000s. - The tail-end of the eighties graced video game lovers everywhere with Nintendo Cereal System, a Zelda and Super Mario Bros inspired cereal. The video game theme wasn’t even the coolest thing about this cereal – what really made it stand out from the crowd was that each box contained two different flavors. - This wouldn’t be a list of discontinued food we miss without at least one item of Ghostbusters marketing. They really went all out when it came to promoting the movie franchise, and were particularly inspired when it came to edible advertising. - Yoplait’s Trix Yogurt was especially popular among children, probably due to its bright colors and high sugar content. The product’s aesthetics were enhanced by the fact that the yogurt in each cup came in two different colors. - Scooby-Doo was first introduced in 1969 in the classic Saturday morning cartoon, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Since then, he has been the protagonist of several other TV shows and movies, both animated and live action. - The Degree Burn brand was a limited-edition release of three new Doritos flavors. They were 1st Degree Burn Blazin’ Jalapeño, 2nd Degree Burn Fiery Buffalo, and, our personal favorite, 3rd Degree Burn Scorchin’ Habanero. - There was French Toast Crunch Cereal, so of course, there had to be a Waffle Crisp Cereal too. The waffle-shaped pieces with a maple syrup flavored glaze first hit shelves in 1996 and cemented their position as one of Post’s best breakfast cereals. - Oreo Cakesters were one of the many, many variations of the original Oreo cookie, but they still managed to stand out from the crowd. They followed the same sandwich-style recipe, with a layer of cream between two cookies, but they differed in that they were softer and, as the name implies, more cake-like. - Squeezit, a fruit-flavored juice, has popped in and out of production many times since its first release in the eighties. It appeared in stores for the last time in 2012. The juice was packaged in plastic bottles and its “thing” was that, in order to drink the juice, you had to squeeze the bottle. ➡️ SUBSCRIBE to BabbleTop! https://bit.ly/2Uu3HPe 🥳 JOIN and become a BabbleTop member! https://bit.ly/2DCl21k 👕 Check out our MERCH! http://bit.ly/2SWDkQM 🔥 Our Most Popular VIDEOS! http://bit.ly/2T02a24 Top 10 Discontinued Food Items We Miss (Part 1) http://bit.ly/2IyUJ1Y Top 10 Discontinued Food Items We Miss (Part 2) http://bit.ly/2TpKahK Top 10 Discontinued Food Items We Miss (Part 3) http://bit.ly/2YrUABe 10 Costco Cult Favorite Food Items http://bit.ly/2YrP6GT 10 American Foods That Should Be Banned http://bit.ly/2YzLEdk 10 Secrets You Didn't Know About IKEA Food Court http://bit.ly/2Yqqi1N Top 10 Untold Truths of the Heart Attack Grill http://bit.ly/2H2LLYe 10 Coca-Cola Drinks That Embarrassed The Company http://bit.ly/2T8awZL 10 Secrets You Didn't Know About Costco Food Court (Part 1) http://bit.ly/2GWQWsY 10 Secrets You Didn't Know About Costco Food Court (Part 2) http://bit.ly/2YjiQ8C 10 Foods That Will Never Expire (Part 1) http://bit.ly/2Yncbul 10 Foods That Will Never Expire (Part 2) http://bit.ly/2YqVuOv All clips used for fair use commentary, criticism, and educational purposes. Versatile Blogger Award – Gaming Edition
