THE LITTLE DANCER | s.reid x reader
summary: in which you catch spencer and your daughter dancing in the living room. pairing: spencer reid x reader content warnings: none, just pure fluff word count: 766 a/n: hello! i was supposed to post this yesterday, but something happened and i choose to post tonight! let me know if you guys want more from this universe! hope you guys like it and feedback is always appreciated! till the next one!
The room was plunged into a cozy dimness, the only light coming from the small lamp on the corner table, casting soft shadows on the furniture. The toys scattered on the carpet were the mark of a busy afternoon, and now the silence was only interrupted by the rhythm of the lively notes of Eine kleine Nachtmusik that filled the room.
Spencer stood still for a second, absorbing the melody, until the baby's grumbling turned into a more insistent whimper. “I know, I know, Chérie.” he said softly, taking his daughter in his arms. “Mozart isn't for everyone. But trust me, it's better than the rain.”
The baby seemed undecided between continuing to complain or settling into the warmth of Spencer's chest. He began to sway slightly from side to side, his clumsy, hesitant steps following the music.
“See, I'm not such a bad dancer, am I?” he asked as if the baby was going to answer.
And then, almost without realizing it, he began to dance. His feet stumbled slightly on the carpet, his movements were definitely far from graceful, but there was something incredibly sincere about the way he gave himself over to the music. The notes played in the air as Spencer twirled around, the baby letting out little sounds of fascination between yawns.
At that moment, the living room seemed to have been transformed into a private stage, where he and Olivia shared a dance as unique as their relationship.
“Well,” he murmured, settling her in his arms. “I'm not exactly Fred Astaire, but we're trying!”
The baby burst into giggles, her little hands clutching the fabric of Spencer's shirt as if begging him not to stop, and Spencer responded with an excited smile. “Oh, so now you like it?” he laughed too, his steps becoming looser, more fluid. It was impossible not to be infected by the joy of the little girl in his arms.
The door to the living room was ajar, and you entered quietly, your steps light so as not to interrupt the tranquil silence of the house. But what you found was not the usual silence, but a melody of music. The lively melody, classical and delicate, filled the air. And in the center of the room, illuminated by the soft light, were Spencer and Olivia.
The expression on his face was one of pure concentration, but not the kind of tense concentration you used to see when he was focused on solving a case. No. This was different, it was soft, tender, almost reverent.
The baby seemed delighted, her little eyes sparkling, one of her little hands clutching the collar of Spencer's shirt as if she didn't want to let go. Little sounds of satisfaction escaped from the child as Spencer murmured something quietly, probably a comment about the music or a curious fact about Mozart.
You stood there at the edge of the room, not daring to interrupt. The scene was both mundane and extraordinary: Spencer, with his awkward steps and Olivia in his arms, seemed to have transformed that moment into something special, a little bubble of intimacy and tenderness in the middle of the night.
There was an almost magical beauty in the simplicity of what you saw. The way he held her, the way the music enveloped them, and even the occasional stumble; everything contributed to a perfect, albeit imperfect, picture.
When Spencer finally realized his presence, he stopped instantly, his eyes wide with surprise. “Oh… did you see that?” he asked, his voice a little embarrassed.
You just smiled, crossing your arms as you leaned on the door. “I did. And you were doing very well.”
The blush that rose to his cheeks only made the moment even more adorable. “Well… I guess we've got an audience now,” he muttered, but didn't stop rocking the baby, resuming the steps of his private dance.
“I didn't want to interrupt. It was quite a performance,” you commented, entering the room.
Spencer let out a short laugh, looking at the baby, who was still staring at him, her little hands now clutching his loose tie. “Well… it's only for a very select audience,” he said, his voice soft and caressing.
The music continued to play in the background and, after a short moment, Spencer gave a small, complicit smile. And then, without waiting for an answer, he resumed the steps — a gentle sway, a subtle turn — because, deep down, he knew that the dance wasn't just for the baby. It was for all of you, a moment that none of you would soon forget.

Knowledge is knowing that the title of Mozart’s famous chamber ensemble, “Eine kleine Nachtmusik,” translates to “a little night music” in English. Wisdom is understanding that you’ll be left on read if a friend texts you about how their dog kept them up all night making “yakking” sounds and you reply “Eine kleine Yaktmusik.”

'Evenin' everyone, Mr. Baggins back with you for a little music to ease us into the night. I thought we'd start this evening's program off with the music of Mozart, his Serenade in G Major, "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (A Little Night Music) K525, performed here by our friends Neville Marriner and the ASMF.
youtube
Let's stick with Mozart for a bit longer. Here is Vladimir Horowitz at the piano with Mozart's Concerto No. 23, K488, with Carlo Maria Giulini at the helm of the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano.
youtube
Here is one more piece by Mozart this evening, his Clarinet Concerto in A Major K622, played for us here in a historic performance by jazz virtuoso Benny Goodman, with Charles Munch conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
youtube
I thought we'd move now to music of the impressionist composer Claude Debussy, his "Three Nocturnes", L91, performed on an iconic recording by the great interpreter of 20th Century music, Pierre Boulez, and the Cleveland Orchestra
youtube
Speaking of Nocturnes, here is our friend Guiomar Novaes with the second volume of Nocturnes by Chopin.
youtube
Helping ease us into the night time, here is a symphony by Haydn, his "Farewell" Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp Minor. The legend goes that Haydn's musicians were upset they were not going to be allowed to go home to their families for Christmas holidays, as their "masters", the Esterhazys, wanted music through the period. Haydn wrote this piece as a MESSAGE TO THE BOSS! The final movement starts with a full orchestra, but ONE BY ONE, the instruments all drop out, and the players leave the stage when their part is over, leaving one lone musician to finish the piece. Some righteous union organizing, I'd say, because the boss relented and allowed them all to go home to their families. Our old friends Neville Marriner and the ASMF play for us.
youtube
I thought we'd finish up tonight with a set of piano works by American composer Edward MacDowell, his "Woodland Sketches", played for us here by pianist Hal Freedman.
youtube
This is Mr. Baggins, signing off for another night. I'll be with you again at 8am Pacific for Morning Coffee Music.
Until then, dream sweet dreams, babies, dream sweet dreams.
Baggins out.

did not, in fact, get the rest of the movements of the original piece before the end of term. did, in fact, get buzzed by a camera drone, show my gratitude to my conductor for the past term in the most truly cringeworthy way, and discover that the quartet has an affinity for mozart
the (complete) new movement we read is accompaniment for a song with a lot of pop rhythms and a modulation into a new key. but the funniest thing is that i swear to god it sounds like old school opm. i couldn’t describe how for the life of me. but i know my dad will start making up words to it when i practice at home.
other modern piece comments:
‘you are a ruminating beast from siberia, and we all know that’s how they are’
‘the spirit is willing but the notes are wrong.’
me: ‘wait, there are catholics in this?!’
honestly though the real star of rehearsal was the brief interlude in which we were videotaped playing the finale to haydn 104 for inclusion in a promotional video for the college of humanities and arts via, of all things, a small camera drone.
tita conductor to the drone operator: ‘and let us know when you are ready… to fly!’
also tita conductor to the drone operator: ‘will you please try not to chop my head off?’
something about the presence of the camera got her hamming it up it was SOO FUNNY 💀💀💀 she did a little hair flip before we all prepared to play. and when the drone came whizzing around the strings she was cuing me like she’d NEVER cued me before. like girl was just like. 🫵🏻😳
you did not make eye contact with me like this and point for that One measure during the concert 🤨
during the drone’s first pass through the room the breeze knocked the associate concertmaster’s part off the stand and i managed to nudge it back over to the firsts with my foot without looking off of my music 😭 i hope it was the right way around
i was actually grinning through the whole thing for once, mostly because i thought it was the funniest shit that i’d ever been put through in this orchestra
we then recorded an audio-only version of the finale and i really just told myself to let go and have fun with it. then tita conductor waited for the audio person to lower the mic before joking brightly, ‘okay! let’s do it all again!’
(we did not. thank god because i was tired.)
now remember how i’ve had a little affirmation/reminder to self stuck onto the top of my folder so i will always see it when looking over the stand? at the beginning of the school year it was ‘huwag kang matakot’ (don’t be afraid) but around january when i was going through a bout of imposter feelings i changed it to ‘magtiwala sa kanya’ (trust her)
tita conductor asked everyone to turn in their folders on impulse and i collected everyone’s but didnt realize id forgotten to do anything with the note to self so (equally impulsively) i wrote ‘thank you for this term’ on the note, stuck it to the front, and handed it in to her with the other folders and a brief explanation.
it was cringe of me lol. but she’s really done a lot. im so grateful. and she was touched.
then she lowkey forgot to open the usual classroom for me and the quartet so i had to go back and ask again and she told me ‘my mind is like a sieve. you have to remember to hold on to me.’ girl please lmao?
anyways we closed the night reading through eine kleine nachtmusik together. which we sound pretty great at considering we were reading. i wish id recorded it
and there ends another term with orchestra. it was a good one. one more for the year (and possibly ever with this group.) can’t wait to make the most of it :)

Zombies Run S3M28 A Little Night Music
I should have listened to Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik for this run. Would have been better than the upbeat pop stuff I was playing. Ran only 1.6km because I went with a few colleagues from work who were more keen on walking. I didn't mind it. It was a beautiful day in DC.
Spoilers after the image below:
This is an AI-generated image of a woman running, supposedly away from rats.
I really liked this mission. It had just enough creepiness, horror, madness, and mystery to keep me interested in the story. This is the first mission in a while where I didn't feel like there was pressure to pay attention to anyone's personal feelings or backstories. It was just a simple assignment where I had to figure out what was happening and get out as quickly as possible.
I feel bad for Abel later on having to go through the rescue mission at Comansys on their own, though. I hope it won't end badly.
The zombie repellent is made of Veronica's flowers, right? I am guessing the same ones that turned Paula crazy in the last mission. Well, I don't know what Veronica is up to, but someone's gotta watch her. And why were the rats attracted to the zombies or the blue flower scent? Why did they attack Steffie? I don't know. This is too weird.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
It is, of course, one of the most powerful, masterful, and best-known pieces of music ever written. Mozart completed the “little serenade” in Vienna in 1787, but it wasn’t published until 1827, long after Mozart’s untimely death. The Serenade is incorrectly translated into English as “A Little Night Music”. But this is and always has been the way I prefer to think of it. A creation of Mozart…

Music History Today: January 27, 2023
January 27, 1756: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is born in Salzburg, Austria. Over the years, Mozart composed hundreds of works that included sonatas, symphonies, masses, chamber music, concertos, and operas. One of those numbers was "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," German for "a little night music."
The serenade was completed in Vienna on August 10, 1787. It's not known why it was composed. Most of Mozart's serenades were written on commission. Perhaps such was the case with this song, whose origin and first performance was not recorded.

do you see lukadrino as 3 boyfriends, luka and nino fighting over adrien, or adrien being mirac team's free pass
If I were writing a Lukadrino story, I think it would start with everyone as friends, but, then, as Luka and Nino realize that they both have feelings for Adrien, things get a little competitive and heated until they decide that they need to share because they don’t want to lose their friendship with each other or mess things up for Adrien by making things awkward and bitter. So Luka and Nino both end up dating Adrien while their relationship with each other becomes more queerplatonic in nature.
But, you know, I can see it all three ways, actually.
In my Springtime in Wonderland series, Nino and Luka are fighting because of Adrien. Nino thinks that Luka is bad for Adrien because Luka is currently dating Marinette (with whom Adrien is in love) while also (in Nino’s mind) leading Adrien on, so Nino is an enraged mama bear hell bent on protecting Adrien from Luka. Their confrontation scene is in Chapter Twenty-One of Nachtmusik.
I’ve also written Nino and Luka as partners in taking care of Adrien in To Waltz Among Shades, most notably in Chapter Seven. I think they would make a great team because they’re both chill and mature. They both have a protective older brother nature, and I think they’d get along well.
And then I headcanon Adrien as asexual and ship him with everyone, so I can see him as the whole team’s free pass as well. I imagine he gets snuggled and loved on by everyone because that’s what he deserves.
Thanks so much for the ask! ^o^

I was curious how Swallowtail (Adrien with the butterfly miraculous) would look with blond hair. I thought it would work, since he has gold trim (instead of silver… I thought about it but it seemed like his look would be too cold with silver) and the yellow spots on the back of his wings. That was inspired by the pipevine swallowtail butterfly (the butterfly Mikau linked in the chapter)’s wings, by the way, though I put them on the top part of the wing instead of the bottom. Since Mikau described his little ear hoops as being silver, I’m guessing she imagined the metal trim on the boots and hat to be silver, too. (Is that right @mikauzoran?) He would look good with black leather and silver fittings instead of brown and gold. Still, I sort of liked the touch of warm color in his costume instead of being all silver and blue. ^_^;; Not that there’s anything wrong with silver and blue. Anyway, I sort of like this version with the blond hair. I love Adrien’s blond hair. :P – Again, this is (a deviation of) Swallowtail from @mikauzoran‘s A Little Night Music (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik), making his appearance in Chapter Twelve: Lost Woods. The original had black hair, which I’ve rendered here. @pawsomelybuggy also drew a lovely rendition here (with silver trim ^_~).
