Omega Nesting Materials

Depending on your verse canon specifics nesting materials can differ greatly! 

Not only can they differ from omega to omega but also one should take into consideration to the climate in which one lives in as well!

For this reason, it can be assumed that there are certain fabrics that are used in nests can be seasonal. Sort of having a combination of fabrics for each of the seasonal changes or over arching weather climates. 

You’ll find that most nests contain fabrics that are cotton based for their versatility in both warmer and colder climates. Omegas who tend to run hotter or live in a climate that is mostly warmer temperatures with most likely have nesting materials that are cotton, linen, and some wool blends. While summer nests might not be as big and cushy they tend to have more materials draped around said nest like see through curtains, mesh netting, or silk panels. This gives the illusion of a cozy nest without sacrificing airflow or feeling exposed and vulnerable. 

For omegas that might run cooler or live in colder climates, they will tend to have a larger hoard of nesting materials. Like a summer nest, likely materials would include cotton and wool blends. But here’s where things can get interesting! 

Consider that omegas in colder climates or in the dead of winter will be drawn to having faux fur and silks as a part of their nesting hoard. There’s just something uniquely primal about the presence of fur in the nest. Unlike a summer nest a winter nest will have significate walls, going back to the primal need to protect them and potential young from winds. Winter nests will contain more pillows and plush to help with the structure integrity of the nest.

Be mindful about gifting the right sort of fabrics as gifts to your omega and don’t be alarmed if you don’t see that gift for a season! An omega will know best what works for their nesting habits and will deeply treasure anything that is gifted to them by their special someone. Talk with them, learn their likes and dislikes, and then happy hunting!

Melina comes from a very traditional pack, and while the majority of her siblings are Betas, Melina and two of her sisters are Omegas while her oldest brother is an Alpha with his own pack.

Her omega sisters have since settled down with their own alphas, but Melina has been content to be on her own, running the bakery with her father. Her mother fusses and says that she needs to find someone and settle down, but her father respects his youngest daughter’s desire to stay as part of their pack for the time being. He’d rather she be with them than unhappily mated because she wasn’t ready like her oldest sister.

She uses scent blockers when she’s working, if only to keep the number of alphas hitting on her to a minimum. She has a rough time during her heat cycles, choosing to spend them alone, but she doesn’t want to risk an accidental mating. She won’t wear the mark of an alpha she doesn’t love and trust completely, and she’s pretty sure she won’t ever find that so she plans on being alone for the rest of her life unless proven otherwise.

She was raised to be a proper omega, and she’s respectful and obedient to a point, but if you cause harm to her family in any way she will make you regret your decision. She may be tiny but once rage is ignited there’s very little other than her father’s command that will stop her. Her oldest brother Angelo, who has a soft spot for his baby sister, taught her to be vicious in defense of herself and her family.

Also, an Idea of A/B/O where Jay never presented - he died without affiliation and was resurrected without one. And all the stress and magic involved kept his body from maturing, leaving him a man without a scent - he fancies himself a Beta, but lacks any markings and instincts. 

Hence the unstable mind and constant conflict - Jay doesn’t act/smell/sound as he should and others react to it oftentimes with aggression. Leaving him a freak of nature and forever outside of society. That is until...

- Jay gets conniptions at the thought of EVENTUAL PUPS 

- Alfred and Barbara are the only ones that treat the situation with any sort of concern (even though Alfred secretly adores the idea of eventual pups)

- both Jay and Damian freaking out, because Jason treats Damian like a pup and Damian responds to it

- the first heat - long awaited and treated like a Second Coming during which Jay is attended by the Alphas (sexually and not) and learns it’s not all doom and gloom

It depends! I feel like it’s prebuilt and it’s a mix between personality and instinct. But my favourite headcanon is that it changes between ages, for example, a teenage omega’s nest is just their bed or their closet or a corner in their room with sometimes lacking supplies but always cute and comfortable. An adult’s nest, though, is a full room always decorated with cute stuff and comfortable stuff, always has what they need and it’s usually big enough to share it with their pups and mates.

Minor headcanon…I think that most Omegas have something called a Comfort Object that they absolutely can not nest without. These can vary from something like a childhood toy such as a teddy bear to an item of clothing associated with a protective relative, such as a scarf.

The point of a nest is comfort and if there is something that gives the omega the best comfort possible, it obviously belongs there. The easiest thing to think about is if the omega has a good relationship with their parents, they might have items from their parents to replicate those comforting feelings they had from childhood. It can also be extended to found families and the omega may have items from their pack that bring them comfort like jackets or hoodies they’ve stolen.

- It's safe to say that you'll have to keep Illumi away from his mother because of her harmful and terrible pregnancy advice. You'll probably have to keep him away from Silva and Zeno too, because they will approach Illumi, asking him what age he plans on training your pup.

- You'll have to use your alpha voice and growl with him to get him to stop going on jobs and doing harmful things. Illumi was conditioned from the time he presented to always obey his alpha, especially when they use their alpha voice, so ultimately, Illumi stops and obeys. You hate doing it, but it's the only way to stop Illumi from accidentally hurting himself or your unborn pup.

- Illumi comes to find pregnancy quite boring and loathes it for the first few months. He doesn't really know what to do with himself, since his Alpha is basically treating him like he's a hazard to himself and won't let him do anything. That's how he sees it at least.

- He then decides to take up a hobby to cure his boredom. He takes up knitting, since he's already skilled with needles, except these needles aren't used to kill. He knits hats, gloves and socks for his pup. He goes a little overboard, so by the end of his first trimester, you guys already have a huge tub of baby clothes.

- He also takes up yoga. His alpha won't let him go on jobs or do vigorous work outs, he has to have something to keep him limber.

- During his pregnancy, he gets a craving for choco robots of all things. He doesn't really care for chocolates or sweet things in general, but he can't seem to get enough of it. He learns how to whine like a proper omega, in order to manipulate you into getting up to go get him some, especially in the middle of the night.

- Since he's been trained to be near immune to pain, he doesn't really complain about back pain or ankle pain. Does that stop you from rubbing his back and ankles ? No it doesn't. Illumi quite enjoys it anyways.

- Hisoka might actually start coming around and visiting once he learns that Illumi is expecting, since he finds it fascinating that Illumi of all people, is having a baby. You both get annoyed by Hisoka's presence, but, since you won't let Illumi fight him and you don't want to fight Hisoka either, you just have to deal with him. However, Illumi did break Hisoka's hand for touching his bump without his permission.

- Around the end of his pregnancy, he grows a little irritable. He's annoyed by his pup kicking him constantly and he's just over the whole pregnancy in general and wants them out and will do his absolute best to induce labor, so that he can get back to his old routine as soon as possible. You'll have to keep his mother away from him again, because she'll tell him to do something like chain himself upside down by his ankles to induce labor.
