The Ogre's Fairytale Bride by Abigail Barnette
goodreads | storygraph
Tumblr media
Plunged into Fablemere through a mysterious second-hand book, Vanessa Waters finds herself in a dangerous predicament. She's fat, over-forty, and doesn't have a gender to dictate whether she's the damsel in distress or the intrepid hero. When she's captured by ogres, her epilepsy is mistaken for a supernatural gift-one that a ruthless vampire, Baron Aerrax Scylas, would pay handsomely to exploit. Vanessa finds a protector in Droguk, a gruff and grumpy ogre who's no hero-he wants to live a quiet life in his crumbling castle in the swamp, and to support his widowed sister and two precocious nieces He has no time for a human making outlandish claims about magical books. Although Vanessa and Droguk start out repulsed by each other, a grudging friendship eventually blossoms into an attraction they both struggle to deny. With her supply of crucial medication running out, they undertake a dangerous journey to save her life...and escape the Baron's relentless pursuit.
Mod opinion: I haven't heard of this fantasy romance before and it sounds like it is quite cute.

Our Little Secret
Tumblr media
A/N: The movie isn't out anywhere I can watch it over & over yet so I'm going off of memory from the one time I saw it in theatres. Maybe I'll come back & edit this, who knows?
Pairing(s): "Frank" (Former Detective Adam Barnett) x Reader (Nickname: Parker)
Mini Synopsis: The reader & Frank unknowingly get the same job after years of not seeing each other.
Contains: Mentions of character death, things get a little hot
Lambert had just finished explaining the situation to the seven of you, giving each of you a name, yours being Parker. No one knew each other, at least as far as you knew. You were in different cars initially & after the group got together in the getaway car, it was impossible to recognize the man with all your masks on. But once Joey took the girl off to another room & everyone had taken their masks off, you recognized him. As Frank looked around at the beautiful, old mansion, his eyes wandered. His eyes glanced over you for a moment then kept moving, but quickly snapped back to your form. His eyes had only slightly widened, he was doing well to mask his shock. He started walking towards you, briskly, reaching out to touch you as if to test if you were real.
Before he could make it to you, you felt an arm wrap around you shoulders. It was Sammy, "Hey, Parker. Let's get to the bar. Didn't you hear? Fully stocked!"
Sammy was someone you became acquainted with, getting Dean off her back while the three of you were in the getaway van. She dragged you off to the bar, getting between you & Frank. The rest of the group followed along with you. Frank felt he couldn't get close to you without risking his identity being revealed. He just stood in the corner keeping up conversation. After Joey finished reading everyone like a book, she ended up in front of you.
"Oh, no, no, no. I don't need you to tell me what I am," you spoke, waving your hands in front of you.
Frank's eyes narrowed as he stared at you.
"Oh, come on, Parker! Join the fun!" Peter teased, giving you a light shove.
"No, Joey has to go check on the girl anyway. Right?" You were quick to reply.
"Yeah, Joey. You should get up there," Frank chimed in, only letting his eyes leave you for a second to make eye contact with the person he was talking to.
Joey puts her hands up, backing away from you, "Alright, off I go."
Joey made her way out of the room & everyone went off to do their own thing. Sammy & Dean left the room separately. Peter found himself some more alcohol & a comfortable spot on the couch. Rickles headed up to his lookout spot. That left you, Frank, & an already very drunk Peter in the bar area. You decided to head to the kitchen, knowing it wasn't a good idea to drink on an empty stomach. You walked out into the main entrance, unaware of the quiet footsteps following you. You made your way down a long narrow hallway, your assailant only gaining on you. As you reached a t-junction, you paused to look to your left. At that moment, you felt a hand cover your mouth & an arm wrap around your waist. You were pulled forcefully down the hallway to your right & quickly shoved you into a hall closet. You were quickly spun around to face your captor but their hand was just as quick to find it's way back onto your mouth. You saw him.
"What're you doing here, Y/N?" He sounded almost mad, but mostly in shock.
You just looked up at him, scared. His hand still held a tight grip on your mouth despite him waiting for you to answer his question. It seems that he realized that, loosening the grip before releasing your face. Your hands moved to your jaw, feeling the pain of his hold finally going away.
Almost impatiently, Frank pushed, "I saw you die!"
You lifted your finger to your mouth, urging him to be quiet. As you straightened your posture & looked up at the man, a small smirk formed.
"You think I couldn't fake my own death? That's all I helped others do. I'm the intel person, it's my job, Adam."
At the thought of his true identity being revealed, his hands found themselves close to covering your mouth again. But his need for answers overpowered any fear he had.
"You were my partner! Why did you do all that without... telling me?"
You sighed, "Some cops were catching on to my side gig. Plus, helping people disappear was so much more lucrative. The only safe way out of the precinct was to disappear myself."
Frank gave you a look, you knew it well.
"Don't even attempt to judge me. We're both here now, which means you ended up a criminal too."
Frank's eyes softened, you were right after all. You were both detectives once yet you both stood in this house waiting to get paid for kidnapping a 12-year-old girl. Now that he had gotten the information he wanted he began to feel a little awkward. Past feelings flooded his mind. He remembered the night you died, or so he thought. You were chasing a suspect & the suspect managed to shoot you before continuing to run away. Frank had stopped to try to help you but you told him to go after the suspect. He wanted to hold you in that moment, be with you, but you made him go. He never got to share his feelings.
"Y/N," He spoke softly, "I have something to say... that I never thought I'd have the chance to."
"Go ahead, then get me out of this closet."
"I-" He tried to speak, but a long pause filled the air.
Without hesitation, he grabbed hold of the sides of your face & pulled you to him. His lips crashed into yours. It was unexpected, but you'd be lying if you said you hadn't been dreaming of this moment. You threw your arms around the tall man's shoulders & pulled him even closer to you. Frank backed you into the wall, towering over you as he moved to kiss down your neck. You stifle a moan as he tugs at your jacket, trying to get the buttons undone. You two are torn apart when the closet door opens, followed by laughter.
"Woah, didn't mean to interrupt, lovebirds," Dean continues to laugh.
Of course, it was Dean. You fix the buttons on your shirt as Frank steps out of the closet, shoving Dean.
"What are you doing you idiot? Jealous you couldn't get with Sammy so you're snooping around trying to ruin the rest of our nights?"
Once you fixed your jacket, you joined the two outside, "Just get out of here, Dean."
"Fine, fine, get an actual room this time," Dean ran off towards the kitchen, continuing to laugh his ass off.
You turned to Frank, tempted to continue the makeout session. But soon you heard Joey storm down the stairs, calling out for Frank. Frank sighed & headed off towards the main entrance once more. Before he could get far, you grabbed his jacket lapel, pulling him to look at you.
"No one can know that we know each other, Frank," you emphasized the name that Lambert gave him.
Frank gave you a sly smirk, "That'll be our little secret."

Lucasfilm Presents "The Acolyte" Official Trailer
The Disney+ streaming service has really been delivering some cool, universe expanding stories under their “Star Wars” franchise. Shows like “The Mandalorian” and “Andor” bring us to right after the original trilogy and right before it and now its time to scroll way, way back in time for “Star Wars: The Acolyte”. I’ve secured the recently dropped trailer along with the basic premise, casting and…

Walkerverse Character Tier List
Hello Walker Family! I'm here announcing the beginning of the Walkerverse Character Tier List series!
I've created a list of characters from Walker and Walker: Independence to put in a tier list ranking. I will be releasing a series of polls with all these characters (including pictures and brief reminders of their roles) to determine which Tier List ranking they get. Whichever option from S to F gets the most votes will become the official ranking of that character.
Here is the criteria I used to select the characters I'm putting in the poll series:
They must have a name on the imdb page
They must have a minimum of two appearances
I have to remember them, regardless of their appearance count
Single appearances that were special/memorable will also be included (ex: Uncle Willy, Minnie Jayne)
The rankings will be as follows:
S tier: Best character in the show, love them with all my heart, they can do literally nothing wrong
A tier: Beloved blorbo, one of my favorites, I'd want to be friends with them if they were real
B tier: I like them, but I have my critiques. A good character that I mostly enjoy
C tier: Mid character, not the biggest fan of them but I won't complain when they show up
D tier: I don't like them. I have many criticisms of their actions and personality. I may even dislike whole episodes because of them
F tier: Literally the worst character in the entire show. Hate them. Much dislike. I fastforward over them on rewatches.
I currently have pictures (for the poll and the complete tierlist that I will link when it is public) for 39 of the 120+ characters I put on the list, so that's where I will be starting. I will include the full list of all the characters from both shows below the cut along with the taglist.
The first poll will go up on Monday, September 23rd! Can't wait to see what you guys think!

Finished The Acolyte
This is a solid series that presents a distinct and exciting take on the Star Wars universe. The story starts as Jedi procedural murder mystery and slowly shifts into a look at contrasting belief systems and how they affect their followers. The story uses a distinct point in the Star Wars timeline to do its own thing while still connecting to the wider universe when appropriate. The characters are given distinct personalities and they give an emotional weight to the series' twists.
The performances are very good and help establish the series' settings. Amandla Stenberg handles the dual leads well as she gives each role a distinct personality while showing the sisters' evolving relationship. Lee Jung-jae gives gravitas to the conflicted Jedi master and helps with the important twists. Charlie Barnett and Dafne Keen are fun as the two apprentices that join the investigation and each of them has some standout moment. Manny Jacinto has some great comedic moments but shows the character's added depths in unexpected and compelling ways. The supporting cast is very good, including nice turns from Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chaplin, Margarita Levieva, Abigail Thorn, and Carrie-Ann Moss.
The direction works with the series' larger scope and gives the character moments some intensity. The action scenes are excellent with the fight choreography and use of the various sci-fi weapons being inventive and building on other Star Wars elements. The series has some nice visuals that make the new planets standout while putting a fresh spin on familiar locations like Coruscant. The score makes great use of Star Wars' distinct sound and adds to the action scenes. This is a good show and among the better Star Wars Disney+ series.

Awaiting Abigail Unleashes Power and Emotion in ‘Bad Mind’ At the beginning of their musical journey Awaiting Abigail releases their first single "Bad Mind" which unites intense rock and metal energy with emotional narration. From their Dallas base the six-piece band creates a powerful song that combines deep emotions with powerful sound. The song begins with intense dynamic guitar rifts and thunderous drums which immediately create a dark urgent musical background. The song develops its internal exploration through an unorthodox 7/4 time signature which creates a complex rhythm structure. Abigail Hill's voice takes center stage as she transitions fluidly from soft whispers to strong statements which perfectly express the layered emotional depth of the song's words. Each musical segment of this track demonstrates the bands extraordinary connection to their performance. The musical partnership between guitarists Mike Tolfa and James Smith produces complex soundscapes through their use of tender melodies combined with heavy power chord sections. [caption id="attachment_58748" align="alignnone" width="768"] Each musical segment of this track demonstrates the bands extraordinary connection to their performance.[/caption] The foundation of this song rests on Laurie Barnett's bass and Heather Hammonds' drums which support every note while Kori Tolfa's keyboards create an ethereal atmosphere that brings the entire piece to new heights. The song uses lyrics to present an honest and direct study of mental health. Through the repeated delivery of "everything seems fine, not to my bad mind" the artists portray the split between external appearance and internal mental state that mental illness creates. Through the chorus the band delivers a cathartic moment that uses "one step in front of the other" as a personal mantra which also extends its meaning to universal hope. The inaugural song from Awaiting Abigail represents more than a debut release because it showcases a deep exploration of human strength and openness alongside the potential to survive personal hardships. This song marks the arrival of an innovative rock and metal group which brings inventive musical elements together with deep emotional impact. OMGOMGOMG… i saw your dan stevens character x reader post and i’m literally the happiest person alive over how accurate they are 😭😭💖💖 if you don’t mind me requesting (holding back sending so many requests in the future): how would frank/trapper/david react to a partner with stuffed animals/plushies? (as somebody who has a bunch of sanrio ones and kinda gets clowned on by some family members for it 😭) 🥺 + maybe what stuffed animals they’d give to their partner as a gift? THIS ONES SO SPECIFIC BUT 😭💖
A/N: I'm so incredibly glad someone enjoyed my headcanons that much. Also, please send me a million requests it would make me so happy (no pressure). Also Also, I loved reading your reaction through hashtags in your reblog lol
Pairing(s): Travis "Trapper" Beasley x GN!Reader, Adam "Frank" Barnett x GN!Reader (Separate), David Collins x GN!Reader (Separate)
Contains: The boys reacting to the reader having stuffed animals, the boys giving you stuffed animals, sex mentioned with Frank but barely, Frank being a dork, Trapper being a sweetheart, David being a good listener
Frank:
Tumblr media
I have a feeling Frank might be a little weirded out, for lack of a better word, at first, especially if there are a lot of them. If you've got a couple he'll be fine with it but if there's a bunch he'll just be a little confused as to why they're important at first. Like this man can't grasp why you have an attachment to them.
As you spend more time together he'll pretty easily get used to them. If they have names he will only refer to them by name, he won't call them stuffed animals, plushies, stuffies, etc. He becomes like the dad that didn't want a pet, then cut to the dad absolutely loving the pet but never admitting it.
Like you two go to sit on the couch together to watch a movie & you left a stuffie on the couch & he fully treats it like a human. Like he nods at the little guy & goes "Gerald," in greeting before scooting the plushie to the side of the couch.
If you store a bunch of them on your bed, he definitely refers to them as "the fellas" regardless of their genders if they have any. Like he'll climb into your bed getting ready to cuddle you & acknowledges them saying, "What's up fellas?" Mainly because it makes you laugh.
He definitely does not like them facing you two when you're having sex or making out. He will turn them to face the wall one by one if he has to.
After finding out that you like plushies so much I think Frank would be the kind of guy to buy you one before he goes on long heists. He did it once & that made you smile so he kept doing it. The first time he brought you a little one, a white cat with yellow spots.
"You know, I'll be on a business trip the next couple days & I thought this one looked like me so I thought it would be a good idea. Now you don't have to miss me or whatever."
You definitely agreed that it looked like him. The little cat had a scowl & everything.
Trapper:
Tumblr media
Trapper probably has an old stuffed animal from his childhood that's being held together by many different stitches & still sits on his bed to this day. So when you tell him you have stuffed animals he's not even phased, actually, he shows interest in them.
He wants to know their names, & if they don't have names he wants to name them.
There was a time when you & Trapper had gotten into an argument & he gave you some time to cool down & he stayed in the bedroom. The door was left ajar & you heard some quiet talking. After getting the right angle you manage to catch the man talking to your pile of stuffed animals that lived in the corner of the bed about how sorry he was & how he didn't mean to upset you.
As you watch your hand accidentally knocks the door a little causing it to squeak on its hinges. Trapper immediately turns to you, his face flushing when he realizes you were there. "I'm sorry, your stuffed animals are just really good listeners."
If any of your stuffies get ripped or you find a hole in one you better believe he goes full vet mode. He's had to do stitches before so sewing is nothing. He will play hard into the vet thing to make you laugh, especially if your stuffed animal getting ripped is a big deal for you. He'll whip out a stethoscope, wrap the limb that got ripped in some paw print bandages, etc. He also loves any praise about him being good at his job so please give him some.
I feel like Trapper's stuffie gifts would come with a story. Like the day he took out King Kong's tooth he probably got you a King Kong stuffie & told you all about it. Now next to whatever stuffed animals you have you have all the titans of the world (at least the ones he's worked on) in plushie form.
David:
Tumblr media
David, like Frank, will probably have a little bit of a tough time gathering what makes them so special to you but he would probably just straight up ask you. David loves listening to you talk about just about anything, especially when it's something you care about. So when you tell them why they mean so much to you, it only brings him joy.
I imagine before you were even partners & he was heading off to the army (He would not have left if he had the guts to ask you out), you gave him a small stuffed animal to remember you by. As he was getting ready to go & everyone got a little teary-eyed, he swore to you that he would keep that little stuffie until he saw you again. That little guy survived a war & when David returned, you best bet that little guy was alive & well in his backpack. He stays with him in that big ass green backpack to this day.
Whenever you're away on business or don't get home till late, you'll arrive home to see David cuddling one of your stuffies to help him sleep. He claims it has the slightest smell of your perfume/cologne/etc & it reminds him of you.
If the collection grows past space on your bed for all the stuffies, David will build you a shelf for them. You won't even ask him to. He'll just see that you have space in your room for a shelf, you'll off-handedly mention you're running out of space on your bed for the stuffies, then he'll put two & two together & build you that thing. An added bonus, he'll probably be in a tank top or some shirt that shows off his arms on the hot summer day he decides to build it. Maybe even shirtless.
I feel like David wouldn't get you any specific stuffed animals. He would just wait for you to mention the ones you want, literally run across town to get it for you, then run back & it appears in your flock of stuffed animals the next day.

In 1818, high-spirited young Fanny Brawne finds herself increasingly intrigued by the handsome but aloof poet John Keats, who lives next door to her family friends the Dilkes. After reading a book of his poetry, she finds herself even more drawn to the taciturn Keats. Although he agrees to teach her about poetry, Keats cannot act on his reciprocated feelings for Fanny, since as a struggling poet he has no money to support a wife. Credits: TheMovieDb. You will enjoy it if you like the genre. If not … well, probably it would be a slow and dull romantic drama for you. tmdb28039023: Bright Star is the rare biopic of an artist that actually provides some insight into its subject’s craft. Usually, a film about a writer, including such recent examples as To Olivia (Roald Dahl) and The Laureate (Robert Graves), will approach the creative process as 99-percent inspiration and 1-percent actual work – and sometimes not even that. Writing is taken as matter of course; poems come out straight out of the author’s mouth, fully formed like Athena emerging from Zeus’s forehead. Bright Star doesn’t dismiss the notion of divine inspiration, but it does not tacitly take it for granted either; on the contrary, it acknowledges and articulates it (“If poetry does not come as naturally as leaves to a tree, then it had better not come at all”). Moreover, even though it declares “Poetic craft is a carcass, a sham,” it does so perhaps out of modesty (after all, “A poet is not at all poetical. He is the most un-poetical thing in existence. He has no identity”), before diving right into the crux of the craft itself (“A poem needs understanding through the senses. The point of diving in a lake is not immediately to swim to the shore but to be in the lake, to luxuriate in the sensation of water. You do not work the lake out. It is an experience beyond thought. Poetry soothes and emboldens the soul to accept mystery”). This is all great stuff, and writer/director Jane Campion displays a sincere love for poetry with which she infuses her characters (who not only commit their favorite poems to memory, but can even recite verbatim from literary reviews). The problem is...

Weekend Finalists: Ram Tap, Ocala, Pine Top, &amp, Carolina
Tumblr media
Some Team In members were out enjoying the actions in people in Carolina, and it was undoubtedly an exciting weekend with plenty of animal and horse duos coming out solid, especially the ladies this weekend! Take a look at EN’s cover around if you want to watch all of the action from Carolina this past weekend.
However, Carolina was n’t the only event running this weekend, and we definitely ȿaw some strong performances and large divisions at Ram Tap, Ocala, and Pine Top aȿ well.
We take a moment to thank all of our Weekend Victors, as well as Penny Goddard and Fernhill On The Rocks, who dipped into the youth with an 18. 6 overall to win the Open Novice at Carolina.
Ram Tap National H. Ƭ. ( Fresno, CA )] Website]]Scoring]
We’ve seen James Alliston and Alliston Equestrian’s Karma’s ( Escudo II – Travita, by Lavita ) titles at the top of the ranking lot over the last time, with a win at the Twin Rivers Fall International CCI4- S in September, and a win at The Celebration at Rebecca Farm’s CCI4- L in July. We saw them win the Advanced at Ram Tap this weekend, marking their second victory this time now, and James and Karma have kept their position at the top going into this year.
” It was a great event here at Ram Tap, with beautiful courses and footing”, James reflected. Terry Hilst and the Ram Tap crew are most appreciated.
Being able to work at events with such fantastic courses and foundation is essential in the run-up to the 5* season. James is excited about how she is feeling as the function nears its conclusion and plans to use Kentucky as Karma’s first 5* occasion this spring.
” I’m hoping to accomplish Kentucky with Karma”, James stated. ” She’s feeling reallყ good! In the next week, I’ll get working on]a touch of ] anything! I’m hoping that Northern California’s weather will be dried for a few weeks so I can work on my fitness.
In a few months before their anticipateḑ vacation to Kentucky, James and Karma will visit Twin Rivers.
