Sometimes I like to make comics, as a treat. See below the cut for a snippet of my progress. :)

Clothing refs for Ch 37, Ellie's hand-cropped shorts and red flannel were given, but Abby's clothes were not as clear so I took some artistic liberties. :')

+ lighting test - was aiming for early morning/dawn colours. Purple hues are some of my favourites to work with.

The section of the fic I was adapting, written by the brilliant @thedreadslayer:

“What … the hell am I doing?” Her legs go numb and unsteady. She plants herself down on a boulder. “Oh, god. I could’ve … oh, my god.” “But you didn’t,” says Abby, kneeling beside her. Because you believe in what we’re doing here.” Abby takes Ellie’s hand, clamps it around her Firefly dog tag, and just … holds it there. It’s terribly intimate. And terrible. “You did a good thing.” Ellie glares at Abby and imagines ripping her pretty face right off.  Because the Fireflies, the cure, humanity - her supposed “greater purpose” - had little to do with her decision to stay. 

I've made comics from prose a few times before in the past, but I can't say that I've developed any specific process for it lmao 🥲 i just try to make thumbnails and see what vibes well

So I haven’t written many, to be fair, but I have found a few helpful things as I’ve gotten older.

My first would honestly be real world experience (*not* saying this is required, this just helped me specifically). This helped me understand the mechanics of what’s actually going on, and to put it into context of a woman’s perspective (I am a woman). Along with that, I have found a partner who cares about my satisfaction sexually, which also helps because I didn’t explore on my own (I have a lot of baggage with it) and so that helped me know and understand other parts of my body.

Second, read smut, read all the smut. The stuff you like reading the best, analyze it. Why do you like it? Do they describe the mechanical aspects more, or the physical responses more, or the emotionality of it? If you can dissect what about it you like you can work to emulate that in your own writing.

Third, maybe watch ethical porn (again, this *isn’t* a requirement, I know a lot of people have very complex feelings about it) but it could give you a scene to write out, and then read over it and see if your capturing what you wanted to capture from it.

Fourth, language is super important. Like there’s a difference (at least to me) of casual touches, tender touches, desperate touches, etc. what words you use will help evoke different feelings (I’m sure you know this intimately (pun intended) since you are a writer) so, try to think about what you want your reader to take from it, and tailor your language that way too.

This has been unsolicited advice from someone who isn’t like a famous ff author or anything and have just been trying to get comments. So if you don’t find this helpful at all I’m sorry! I hope you’re able to find what you’re looking for!

I read smut fic, yet cannot write it for the life of me! Do you or anyone on this site have tips on how to write smut scenes??? I NEED to add some spice to a fic WIP!

I am saddened to say I really have no tips for that particular endeavor, though I support it!

@frogchiro - This creator is more likely known for the absolutely scrumptious CoD hybrid AUs. MY GOD EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HER AUs ARE JUST ON ANOTHER LEVEL. Ranging from Hacker girl!Reader to Baracks Bunny!Reader. (Octo König and Coyote Graves are personal faves of mine) (Her nsfw content is the most toe curling shit I've ever read)

@ghouljams - This creator is another known for their CoD AUs, only this time you may know them as the one who wrote the Cowboy and Medieval AUs. This person and @frogchiro actually got their inboxes mixed up a few times I believe, they're both really just that good, I clearly need pointers. (I honestly don't have much words because god do I eat their content up)

@wishesforyouo (previous account being: @puff0o0) - This lovely creator makes short but sweet CoD content, you may recognize her as the person who made the popular self-aware CoD AU. Definitely my cup of tea because I really like short reads from time to time. (Miss this AU, sweetie <3)

@blingblong55 - This creator loves to make me cry, idk why. I love her though, her nsfw content is also freaking delicious I can't even.

@xo-cod - This creator, I can't even begin. I just love their writing style, it's sweet, quite short and worth the read. (We also have the same name)

@lunarw0rks - This creator makes me wanna bang my head on a table with how good their Ghost content is.

@ceilidho - This creator I can't even begin to describe how fucking delicious the Ghost content is, idgaf if it's short (IT'S PERFECT). Like my god, how'd y'all come up with content that you do. I think she captures Ghost quite well in her writing.

@mistydeyes - This creator, my fucking god. Her content is so good especially the requests she gets. The overall vibe of her writing gives a specific aesthetic that I love so much and honestly their series is worth the freaking read. Series mentioned here, the writing style is so unique but captures the characters perfectly.

@wordstome - This creator made the GREATEST FUCKING FRIENDS TO LOVERS KÖNIG FANFIC I HAVE EVER READ. It was all just so perfect, the length, the pacing and the writing style is fucking incredible. God where'd y'all get the talent to write this, here's the link to said fanfic because I do not gatekeep.

@multifandomimagin3s - This creator and the amount of Rudy content, I AM EATING IT UP. What do y'all feed yourselves to write with this amount of quality? Like their depiction of Rudy (and of course the others) is just Chef's kiss. (Also idk why but this person seems familiar since I remember someone in Wattpad a long time ago who has the same user)

@lxvvie - This creator creates the best fucking characterization I've ever read, LIKE HELLO?! Horangi is so accurate and her version of König is too. I love it, I'm eating her content up.

@rustic-guitar-notes - This creator I wanted tag this Creator so bad on this creator list because I feel like they're so underappreciated and their works are so good, LIKE IT'S ALWAYS THE UNDERAPPRECIATED WORKS THAT ARE SO GOOD THEY MAKE YOU FEEL WHAT YOU NEED AND WANT TO FEEL.

@icarustypicalfall - This creator is mutuals with almost every single one of my fave mutuals and that's how I found them. MY GOD THE RUDY AND ALEJANDRO CONTENT?? I'M EATING THAT SHIT UP.

@skeletalgoats - This creator IS SO FREAKING UNDERATED, I FOUND MYSELF BINGING THIER WORKS AND IT IS SO GOOD AND YOU KNOW WHAT'S THE BEST THING? THEY HAVE MULTIPLE WORKS ON ROACH. Istg y'all, WE NEED MORE OF ROACH.

@drop-cherries - this creator brought me back on this list. You all must be saying "Lia you haven't updated this is so long, it must be some scrumptious ass work you've seen". DAMN WELL IT'S GOOD, got me in my feels and everything, needed that domestic life with Simon after so much nsfw content, I need breaks too y'all. Although I did like that one nsfw post earlier, if you saw that, no you didn't :). I get having a short attention span and not wanting to read long fics but this one.. this one you won't even be bored for a second. It's the type of fics you'd want to lose yourself in, I found myself finishing the bunny series in less than an hour, then left to starve for more. Edit: HELLO?! I personally think she captures Ellie's personality well. I appreciate a writer who implements shit that happen in her life into her stories. (Despite that, the amount of things happening in their love life is also some complicated shit that I love hearing updates from. Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez - A Review

Mild spoilers, but nothing major.

I do enjoy a good romance, but it is not something I seek out. Generally, I like when there's something that seems really different - some job that I haven't seen represented in romance novels before, some activity, crazy stuff, whatever.

This book caught my attention when someone mentioned kidney donation was a major part of the book. Having donated a kidney to someone in need, I though, huh, that's new, wonder what's up?

I got through the plot feeling really satisfied - everything donor-specific felt pretty representative of what I had been through as a donor. I was nervous the donation surgery would be scary or have complications - nope! Won't get into too many details, but just like in real life, kidney donation has a low chance of complications, and donors and non-donors have the same average lifespan, so it was just one quality of the story, not necessarily a major source of drama in itself.

Then I got to the very end of the text, when Abby Jimenez mentioned her journey with kidney health and I nearly cried.

I already chose to donate to help someone in need, and seeing that Abby wrote from experience, really helping showcase how meaningful it is to give the gift of better health when one can - it was just so dang lovely.

Not to focus on just the one issue - the rest of the book is also good! The main pair feel lived in, thoughtful in their emotions, and really care about how the other is doing. Maybe the relationship drama went out for a little too long for my tastes, but the thing that made this book special was just such a well-thought out addition and it came from such a good place.

The book has some trigger warnings for pregnancy loss - I suggest anyone interested read the triggers first, but from my perspective, I was very pleased with how things were handled.

Give this book a whirl, and consider kidney donation if you are in a place in your health and life journey to help someone else!
