Even When I am Old and Gray

asking people to be mindful of others when sharing a communal space (especially one you cannot just up and leave from) is not selfish or misanthropic. come on now

On the wrong side of Bermuda Triangle
I wrote you a poem
I wrote you a poem and almost had custody of you
But you don't know that.
I sent you gifts
I sent you gifts because I knew you deserved to be recognized as you are
Not how your parents wish/wished you were...
We may share Mother's genetics,
But you, baby brother,
Weren't able to see a world before your father,
Before 2014, Before I graduated high school,
Before Mother threatened to replace me as I had her
Before Your father threw mother down the stairs while you were in utero
Before mother ran away from all of her children, abandoning them, again....
You can't know this. You couldn't possibly know this.
You're 11.
You know mother isn't always right and
Your father's temper isn't your fault but
You don't know why I love you.
I love you, because I have been you.
Lost, confused, abandoned, abused.
I love you without strings
Of expectations or judgments
I love you and everything you want to become
and are growing into
Every day.
But you won't know that. Can't know that.
Because you're 11
And because Mother's biggest regret in life?
(Though she may never tell you this:)
Was letting me live.
It hurts her to see how I live without her.
How I live.
That I lived.
I'm not going to do her job for her
For I am done cleaning up her messes.
But when you're old enough and ready
We can talk about the truth
And sort it from mother's lies
Together.
One day.
I hope and pray.
You'll see I'm not a monster.

Threads of Shape: Twisted Feast (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/story/373490954-threads-of-shape-twisted-feast?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_myworks&wp_uname=Not-a-Lyre
What to expect from a world that decides how much you are worth, from the moment you are born? That values you not for your skin or income, but for what you can offer to benefit another.
This story explores the idea of a society built on the presence of shapeshifting individuals who are forced to exist forever in the context of others as eternal servants. Adding to the shackles placed on them since birth, they also face the rejection of many members of society, who believe submission is not enough of a punishment for disregarding the natural order.
With Vane left to his luck after his father's sudden disappearance during a mission, he must push forward on his academic life, ensuring a place on the Metaphorm Bureau and a chance to find out the truth behind this wicked world of his. Accompanied by his friends, he is persistent in doing the most to achieve his goals. Unfortunately, they become the focus of one of the big players, whose target is their very own shapeweavers. Unwilling to give them up, they'll enter the wolf's den to stop the threat once and for all.
"Oh, but do you have what it takes? This is no longer a child's play, so sit and be witness to this mighty festival, for this is the year of the Champion's Ascent. Our mighty warrior has arrived, do you have the heart to face them?"
﹌      ﹌      ﹌      ﹌      ﹌      ﹌      ﹌     ﹌      ﹌     ﹌     ﹌      ﹌
SO I DID SOMETHING, AND I’M NOT TO SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT HAHAHA Should I offer an accord? Drawings in exchange for sharing the story? Hmm, where to go from here...
OH WELL

You know what?
I love you, fics that take months to update. I click on the newest chapter and have no memory of this place and get to go back some chapters and rediscover how much i love everything about this story.
I love you, fics that take years to update. I think of you fondly, and know your names, go search for you and see an update from this year and scream, diving in uncaring of any missed details (i will finish the update and read you in reverse because this is a treat you have bestowed)
I love you, fics that probably will never update again. Thank you for being a roman empire for my mind, thank you for teaching me about the ephemeral fandom experience, for inspiring a thousand million what if-s, for being a comfort read and a nostalgia read and a reread.
I love you fic writers, who jump into projects and stories with enthusiasm. I love you when you succeed in pumping out those chapters and that love doesn't go away when you stop.
I love you fic writers who post and then get in your own head and never feel confident enough to update, whether it's at all or whether it's just that one story.
I love you fic writers, who have a fandom or media hurt you to the point of abandoning or having a hard time with their WIPs.
I love you fic writers, who lose interest or have life changes or illness or bad memory. Thank you for being part of the fandom, a core part of the fandom. Thank you for the time spent in the fandom.
I love you, fic writers who try out something new and then stop. You're so valid.
I love you, WIP fics that may or may not ever get finished. Thank you for brightening my day in the way only you could have.

Getting inspired to write is actually really easy! All you need to do is be the busiest you've ever been in your entire life and as far away from a computer as humanly possible. Hope this helps 🥰
