Okay so I’ve decided I’m not going to post any more fic until the story itself is complete, BUT now I have a dilemma: I have a story for the Abandoned Series that’s been complete for 2 years but it takes place in the future and includes characters that haven’t yet been introduced but I don’t know when I’m going to meet up with it to post in chronological order so I need your help:

fam don’t call a fic abandoned unless the author has stated it’s abandoned or is known to be dead. you have no idea if the fic is abandoned. life happens to people, and it’s not uncommon for a fic to update 3, 5, 10, or even more years later. it’s folly to assume that a fic is abandoned, because you deprive yourself of the chance that one day you’ll refresh a page (or open an email) on a random Tuesday afternoon and suddenly see a 10k word update to the novel-length fic your favorite author hasn’t updated in 13 years. and don’t tell other people a fic has been abandoned either, for the same reasons. And certainly please don’t comment it on the author’s fic or their posts elsewhere online lol

Rewatching Adventure Time, I can't help but think so much Princess Bubblegum discourse would be non-existent if people actually watched the show to completion instead of randomly hyperfocusing on some of PB's bad deeds.

There's a very bizarre and commonly held belief that Princess Bubblegum did terrible things and got away with it, that nobody held her accountable. When the show makes a point, repeatedly, that Princess Bubblegum is well meaning but deeply flawed, and to some characters, straight up evil.

I see fans point to "The Cooler" a lot as proof that PB is an irredeemable character, and while it is her worst act in the entire show.... I think people forgot that that was the point. Near the end of the episode she stops spying on people in Ooo because it was an invasion of privacy. In another episode she's called out for exploiting some aliens and lets them go. She feels ashamed that her own people are terrified of her. She loses her entire kingdom, and realizes she needs to get her shit together.

I'm pretty critical of shows that are way too lenient on flawed female characters but Princess Bubblegum isn't one of them. She's awesome, and heavily misunderstood.

Sometimes I think about how Adrien, throughout the series, constantly grapples with his fear of abandonment. Gabriel conditioned him to believe that any love he receives is purely transactional, and that to earn affection he has to prove his utility. Adrien is constantly trying to prove his worth to his father for scraps of affection, and Chat Noir infamously crumbles on-screen any time he feels as though he is replaceable to Ladybug. It's a constant insecurity of his, like everyone will just dump him like a sack of potatoes the moment they find out how useless he is.

Meanwhile, all Marinette wants to is ensure that Adrien is happy. Because she loves him. She doesn't give two shits about how """useful""" he is. She holds him and tells him that she will never abandon him (both as Ladynoir and as Adrienette), and her fantasies are about saving him, not about him being "useful" to her. Throughout their relationship, Adrien is forced to disappoint Marinette constantly for reasons outside of his control (amok commands), and yet Marinette is still there for him.

At Adrien's lowest point, when he is forcibly torn away from everyone who had ever showed him genuine care, locked away in an all-white room and at his most "useless", right after disappointing Marinette and unable to even join the final battle or contribute in any way, she still saves him. She still loves him. Because he doesn't have to prove anything to her. Because he is loved and cherished for who he is, not for what he does, and that love is not conditional. Adrien's "happy ending" at the end of the first arc wasn't about him finally proving how useful he can be, because he never actually cared about being useful — he just saw it as the only means to feel loved and needed. Instead, in the end, he found out that he was loved and needed no matter what.

“going to be the death of me,” he muttered. but his voice was fond and his dimples showed as he tried to suppress his grin. he carefully pulled your skirt back down and then his hands were smoothing your hair back down.

“lipstick,” he ordered softly, holding his palm out. you fished the tube from your pocket and handed it to him wordlessly.

“good girl.”

coryo smiles softly and uncapped the lipstick, one hand holding you still by your chin while he meticulously dragged the makeup over your lips. his thumb swiped at the edge of your bottom lip, perfecting the line there. not a single thing out of place. he smiled and closed it again, sliding it into his own suit jacket pocket.

“there,” he whispered, leaning in to press a soft kiss to your forehead. “nice and pretty and ready for me to mess up all over again after this fucking meeting.”

you both smiled at each other as he helped you down from his desk. the wetness in your panties was uncomfortable but you’d deal with it, knowing coryo intended to hold up his promise of taking care of you later. he was nothing if not a man of his word.

he shot you a wink after you walked over to the door, taking a seat at his desk as you addressed the man waiting to meet with him. you grinned up at the man politely.
