I finished my 42nd (and 43rd) book for #bookadayinMay! I both read and listened to The Dry by Jane Harper. It was a very good story. I'll give it four stars. I really enjoyed it. 😊⭐⭐⭐⭐❤ . . . . The mystery was REALLY good. I didn't have any solid ideas as to who the killer was until Falk figured it out. 😄❤ . . . . The audio performer, Stephen Shanahan, did a good job. Not great, but it was okay. I think I may give the audio three stars. There wasn't enough distinction between the voices in the dialogue portions of this story for me. Plus, there were lengthy pauses in a few inappropriate places. This was NOT a book I was able to listen to without reading along. (Not to mention that my edition is an American edition and I think the audio was for the Australian edition.) 😕⭐⭐⭐ . . . . Raymond Felton on Rudy Gobert: ‘I almost want him to come back and play’

Seeing their most impactful two-way player go down on the first possession of the postseason should have broken the Utah Jazz. But instead, it has done the exact opposite, much to the chagrin of their first-round opponents.

Speaking before Game 2 on Tuesday night, Los Angeles Clippers guard Raymond Felton said that the way Jazz center Rudy Gobert’s injury has lit a fire underneath his teammates almost has him wishing that Gobert would come back and play, per Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Gobert was hurt in the opening 20 seconds of Game 1 on Saturday and did not return to the game, but Utah came roaring back to defeat the Clippers at the horn on a Joe Johnson buzzer-beater to steal away homecourt advantage. It’s a credit to Jazz head coach Quin Snyder for overcoming the loss of a world-class defender and rim-runner by going small and emphasizing floor spacing as well as to the team for rallying together in Gobert’s absence.

The seven-footer did get some good news on the injury but will still be sidelined for at least the second game of the best-of-seven series. However, it definitely doesn’t sound like the Clippers feel they’re catching a break with Gobert out of the lineup.

Force of Nature by Jane Harper is book 2 of her Aaron Falk series. “Five women go into the bushland on a “corporate retreat” But after losing their way, only four make it out. Falk and his partner head to the park, because the missing woman is their potential witness for a big corruption case. What really happened in the bush? Because everyone has a different story...” This is a solid follow up to Harper’s first book, The Dry. Very good pace. Like The Dry, the landscape is almost a character itself, because it impacts so much of what happens. Harper throws in a serial killer progeny, a creepy cabin and some mean girls back home. I expected a bigger ending but it was still okay. Good read from Harper. Do you see this javelina? I couldn't see it from inside the screen door, and since Max had stopped barking, I assumed it was safe. So I went outside to check the porch for a package. I about jumped a mile when I spotted this guy at rest out there. (Not really. I do think I gasped, though.) 😨 . . . . I paused just long enough to turn on my flash and snap this photo. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan was EXCELLENT. I'm pretty sure I laughed twice and I may have had tears in my eyes twice, too, but definitely at least once. 😄⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤ . . . .
