2. sage & berries
A loud crash reverberates from the backroom, followed immediately by a familiar, long-suffering whine.
“I just can’t believe it,” Collei groans startlingly, emerging from the back with the weight of the world on her shoulders. She heaves a sigh so deep it might collapse her lungs. “I still can’t. He came in without bodyguards too!”
Kazuha exhales, rubbing the back of his neck. “Probably because no one knew they’d moved into town until today. It’s all over social media. Keeps popping up on my feed no matter how many times I dismiss it.”
Tighnari tilts his head. “So, it’s confirmed it was really him?”
“Affirmative.” Collei squeaks like a dying instrument. “It was his mom’s birthday last week, and he bought Glaze Lilies for her, right?”
“Yeah.”
Collei throws her hands in the air and wails.
Tighnari fights back laughter from where he sits behind the register, scribbling nonsense into one of his scrapbooks. She looks completely wrecked—pear-green hair sticking in every direction like she barely survived a hurricane, bags under her eyes, and her uniform a mess.
Kazuha isn’t doing much better. He slaps a hand over his mouth, trying and failing to stifle a laugh.
“You’re being way too dramatic, love,” Tighnari drawls, lazily spinning his pen between his fingers.
“I’m not, boss! I’m just so, so sad.” She stomps toward one of the mantelpieces and starts rearranging things that don’t need rearranging, scowling as she does it. Then she scoffs, throwing a glance at Kazuha. “Can’t believe I didn’t notice it was him… He’s pretty good at hiding himself.”
“That, or your head was too preoccupied,” Tighnari muses, calmly. “I knew it was him, and I don’t stare at pictures of them every day like some people I know.”
Collei clicks her tongue, still visibly mourning her failure. “From what I remember, you asked me to get lunch, and when I came back… he was that guy in the red jacket, talking to Kazu.” She lets out a weak, defeated mewl.
Kazuha, leaning against the handoff plane, hums. “He was pretty chill. A bit flirtatious, though, I must say.”
Tighnari doesn’t react to that. Instead, he tunes them out, eyes flicking to the monitor as he moves his cursor, clicking open a tab he had left waiting.
T: You didn’t tell me you and your band moved into the city. C: Are we talking about The Generals? T: Yes. C: So, you live close by… T: Not really, but my shop is nearby. I think. One of my assistants mentioned it earlier. C: I see. Um, if it’s not too much… what’s the name of your shop? T: Hey now, are we really at the point in our friendship where we reveal such things? C: Friendship, huh?
Tighnari bristles, biting his lip.
T: If you say we aren’t, I’ll delete this app and you’ll never hear from me again. C: Please don’t, friend. T: Too late. You ruined the mood. C: I’m sorry :(
Why is his stomach flipping over this? He’s never even met this person. C could be a serial killer, for all he knows.
T: Forgiven. Anyway, names are off-limits. C: You’re so sassy, aren’t you? But just so you know—you basically already revealed where your shop is. You said it’s in the same city The Generals moved into. It only takes one Google search to find out where the band lives, and then it’s just a matter of looking up nearby flower shops. Hehe.
Oh.
Oh, shit.
C: You should really be more careful about what you say online. It’s dangerous.
Tighnari groans, rubbing his temples. To hell with him. This is embarrassing.
T: That’s fine. I own an ax, and I’m pretty good at wielding it. JUST SO YOU KNOW. C: Understood, T. No worries. Besides, I don’t plan on murdering you when I see you. More like, hugging you. Saying it’s nice to finally meet you and telling you how cool your neon green highlights are. T: So you do pay attention to my profile picture. Great. C: Of course. I pay attention more than you probably think I do. C: Why do you think I’m still here talking to you?
Tighnari swallows. That’s two points for C, zero for me.
While C hides behind a celebrity’s picture, Tighnari—like an idiot—has his actual face as his display photo.
Right, so… that one is on him.
Not that he has self-esteem issues. He’s always been proud of how he looks, hence putting his face out there. But C is being a menace right now.
Hn. Might as well be a menace right back.
T: So you’re only talking to me because of how I look? I see how it is.
He scoffs as he hits enter.
C: Nah. Put it this way: I came for how you look but stayed for who you are as a person.
No.
No, no, no.
This cannot be making his cheeks warm. Absolutely not.
T: You’re a sap, you know that? C: I am. What are you gonna do about it?
Tighnari leans back in his chair, heart pounding way harder than it should. Is he really getting affected by someone he’s never even met? Ridiculous.
His eyes land on the stress ball next to the cupholder, sitting among his other desk knick-knacks. He snatches it aggressively, squeezing hard. C can wait.
He shifts his focus back to Anise and Lemongrass’ emails—his job, his business. Duh.
C can wait.

The bell jingles as a customer walks in, a bright smile on her face as she scans the shop with warm hazel eyes, clearly looking for someone. Collei, who’s adjusting the temperature controls to keep the flowers fresh, gasps the moment she spots her. Without hesitation, she charges toward the entrance, nearly tackling the poor woman in a hug. “Amber!”
Amber barely has time to react before Collei latches onto her. Laughing, she wraps her arms around Collei’s waist. “Hi, Collei.”
Over her shoulder, she spots Tighnari at the till and nods in greeting. “Hello, Tighnari.”
“Amber.” He smiles. “Good to see you.”
“You too. And you as well, Kazuha.” She beams before glancing around. “I dropped by for some Mint. Got any in stock?”
Collei, still clinging to her, looks like she might combust from excitement.
Tighnari nods. “We do. Collei will show you.”
“Awesome!”
Before Amber can take another step, Collei grabs her arm. “Wait! Come with me for a second, there’s something I have to show you!”
Without waiting for a response, she tugs Amber toward the backroom, talking a mile a minute as they disappear behind the door.
Tighnari watches them go, shaking his head in amusement.
A few minutes later, Amber reemerges from the hall, now carrying a garland of Mint, her footsteps full of conviction. She rounds a shelf, then strides toward the counter with purpose, voice ringing out loud and clear—
“Tighnari! For real? Scaramouche showed up here last week?”
All eyes snap to her.
Tighnari hums, ruffled. “Oh? Yeah, it’s true.”
Amber brightens. “Oh my gosh. What does he look like in person? Is he pretty? Are the rumors true?”
Tighnari taps a finger to his chin, thinking. “Well, he was wearing shades and had his hood up the whole time, so I couldn’t see clearly. But through the dimness of his glasses, I could make out the rest of his face…”
“And?” Amber presses, her awe practically radiating off her. She’s standing at the counter now, eyes sparkling under the shop lights, and for the first time, Tighnari wonders if Collei is going to start telling everyone about this. If so, he might have to start dealing with more fans like this.
Actually, he thinks, I could just pass them off to someone else.
“Yeah,” he shrugs, “he seems fairly good-looking. Right, Kazuha?”
Kazuha looks up, if only just a bit. “Yeah, I guess.”
Amber’s brows rise. “Why are you asking Kazuha?”
There’s no suspicion in her voice—just curiosity.
Without missing a beat, Tighnari replies smoothly, “Your idol likes Kazuha.”
Amber’s eyes go huge, golden irises gleaming with interest.
“Oh… Wow.” She hands her chosen Mint to Kazuha, looking him up and down—not in a rude way, just assessing. Tighnari doesn’t bother commenting.
What does make him huff a quiet laugh is how casual she’s being about it. ‘What gives?’ As if it wasn’t painfully obvious when the guy was here. The way he kept staring, how he was caught staring, the way he was all too interested in Kazuha—it was plain as day.
Tighnari’s instincts had never failed him.
“Scaramouche kept checking him out,” he explains. “Openly admiring him. He also said he might come back.”
Amber tilts her head. “Just because?”
“Pretty much.”
Kazuha stays quiet, focused entirely on crafting the bouquet. His hands move with practiced ease, each fold and placement precise, almost adroit.
Tighnari watches, a small smile tugging at his lips. It’s always a pleasure to see Kazuha work, especially when it involves things close to his heart—plants, herbs, shrubs, foliage in all its forms. This is why they cost a fortune. Every single one. Not that he ever explicitly disapproves of people buying them for meaningless reasons. It’s not his decision to make—he only sells them. But if he has to sell them for trivial purposes, he may as well price them high enough that he doesn’t feel their loss.
And that, he supposes, is something no one else needs to know but me.
At long last, Kazuha speaks, voice soft yet certain. “Boss, I don’t think it’s like that.”
Tighnari’s ears perk up. “Oh, shush, you. You know it is.”
Amber grins from where she stands, clearly enjoying this. Kazuha, on the other hand, makes a face but chooses not to argue.
Tighnari lets it slide. Instead, he turns to Amber, readying a card for her bouquet. “What should I write?”
Amber straightens. “Oh, um! Just put, ‘Your smile makes the world brighter, so you better keep doing it. Your favorite granddaughter, Amber.’”
Tighnari smiles as he writes it down. “Okay. Here. Is this for your grandpa?”
Amber nods. “Yeah. It’s his birthday.”
“I see… Tell him we said happy birthday.” He hands the card over to Kazuha, who carefully tucks it into the plastic wrap.
Amber beams. “Sure! How much?”
Tighnari shakes his head. “Don’t worry about it. It’s on the house.”
Amber blinks, caught off guard. “Really? Tighnari, thank you.”
Before he can reply, Collei suddenly pops back into the room, immediately seeking Amber out. Tighnari isn’t surprised.
What does catch him off guard is the look Collei gives him as she stops behind Amber, her disarming green eyes locking onto his. His chest tightens. Those were the days.
When Collei needed a place to stay, and he had no way to take her in. No money. No job.
And Amber—Red Girl, the one who saved them—had been there.
They don’t talk about it anymore, Amber insisted, but Tighnari and Collei would never forget their most vulnerable days. Or the kindness that changed everything.
Tighnari clears his throat. “Pleasure’s mine.”
Amber smiles. “Bye! Collei, I’ll text you.”
“Okay! Take care, Amber!”
**
They have lunch in the back at noon, where Collei has been yapping non-stop, her voice animated with hand gestures and sound effects that grow increasingly exaggerated as the minutes pass. Kazuha humors her, nodding along, tossing in the occasional hm or ah, I see, while Tighnari listens in silence, too focused on his meal to contribute. He’s having an omelet, the basil meticulously chopped and sprinkled across the top, four strips of bacon, and a side of fried rice—simple, yet delectable.
So delectable, in fact, that he nearly misses the sharp knock and rasping against the front door.
Collei’s storytelling cuts off instantly. Kazuha’s chopsticks still, and when he and Tighnari lock eyes, there’s the same unspoken question hanging between them.
“…Didn’t you guys flip the signage before coming in here?”
Kazuha and Collei exchange a look.
“No.”
Collei shoots up, cheeks turning pink. “Ah-ah! Don’t worry, boss! I got it!” She presses a hand over her chest in a dramatic display of responsibility.
Tighnari exhales, setting his utensils down with a quiet clink. “No need. Stay where you are. I’ll get it.”
“Oh, um. Okay, if you’re sure?”
Warily, Collei sits back down. Tighnari wipes his mouth with a napkin before rising, slipping back into the main shop, mildly disoriented from the shift in atmosphere. Through the glass door, two figures stand just outside, deep in conversation yet sneaking glances into the store.
Neither of them notice him until he steps forward, peering at them through the glass.
With a sigh, he spots the signage—still set to Open. Right. That’s on them. Pressing his lips together, he twists the knob, opening the door just a crack.
“Hi. Sorry, we’re on lunch break right now. You might want to come back later—” He stops mid-sentence, recognizing one of them instantly.
“Oh, it’s you.”
“Hi! Yeah, it’s me from… hm, last week, I think?”
It’s him. Scaramouche from The Generals, once again clad in a disguise, as if Tighnari hadn’t already seen his face before. This time, it’s a navy blue oversized windbreaker, hood pulled up, dark shades hiding his eyes. Though Tighnari knows what color they are now—midnight blue, indigo, the dark waters at night.
They are pretty, if he’s being honest. Photogenic, even.
Biting the inside of his cheek, he nods solemnly. “Ah, yeah, I remember you.” His gaze flickers to the second figure. “And I see you’ve brought a friend this time.”
Like Scaramouche, the other man is also wearing a disguise. Probably another band member. If that’s the case… think, Tighnari. Who’s the one with teal highlights?
“Yup,” Scaramouche confirms, casual as ever. “Wanted some company, so I brought one of my friends. Heh. Anyway, lunch break. I guess we should come back later?”
There’s something almost… sheepish about his tone. Apologetic. It’s a little unexpected, but not unwelcome.
Tighnari nods once more, because, really, what else is there to say? This is awkward.
Time suspends for a moment, silence stretching between them.
Scaramouche flicks his gaze past Tighnari’s shoulder, searching for something—or rather, someone. Then, with a flash of perfectly aligned pearls, he grins, reminding Tighnari of his status as a celebrity with no physical flaws. There’s an undeniable charm about him, an effortless charisma that explains why people are drawn to him.
Absently, Tighnari wonders what Kazuha must have felt when this man had openly flirted with him.
At last, Scaramouche concedes, still grinning. “Alright, no worries!”
They turn to leave, and just as they step away, Tighnari feels something hot stir in his stomach when his gaze briefly overlaps with the mystery band member’s. Their eyes linger—just for a second, just long enough for Tighnari to feel as though he’s being gauged. His posture, his body language, everything.
It’s enough to make him want to look them up on Google again, just to connect the dots.
Maybe after lunch…
With an odd sense of agitation creeping up his spine, he pinches his arm absentmindedly. It’s strange, isn’t it? The effect important people have. He’s always found Collei’s obsession with celebrities a bit absurd, always thought the idea of crying over another human—just because they’re famous—was ridiculous.
But now that it’s happening to him, he can’t entirely dismiss the sentiment.
Maybe it’s not a myth.
Closing the door, he flips the signage to Closed—properly, this time—and turns around, only to catch sight of Kazuha leaning against the doorframe of the backroom, arms folded, watching silently.
A smile tugs at Tighnari’s lips. Hands in his pockets, he moves toward his assistant, fingers idly toying with his keyring. “He saw you, didn’t he?” he muses, recalling the look on Scaramouche’s face.
“Yeah.”
“Said they’ll be back after lunch.”
Kazuha lolls his head against the doorframe, utterly unbothered. “Hm. Cool.”
Tighnari stops beside him, withdrawing a hand to tap his shoulder, fingers squeezing briefly. “He seeks you out, Kazuha. That guy. I can tell he wants to pursue you.”
“…I know.”
“And you’re okay with that?”
Kazuha looks at him, at last, shrugging with a casualness that doesn’t entirely sit right. “It’s fine. It’s not like he’s serious about whatever it is he’s trying to pull.” He snorts, shaking his head. “Come on, boss. A famous person—who probably has millions of people kneeling before them every waking moment of their life—crushing on a lone florist? Bizarre, that.”
Tighnari arches a brow. Sure, he knows Kazuha is the laid-back, easygoing type. He’s known him for a year. But even that can change under the right circumstances.
A happening.
A person.
Anything can happen—overnight, over the years. In a day. In under an hour. In a second…
“But what if he is?” Tighnari challenges. “Serious, I mean.”
Kazuha doesn’t answer.
Which is precisely what Tighnari expected.
Biting back a smirk, he breezes past his assistant, reentering the backroom. And just as he does, he hears it—a quiet, barely-there gasp.
He smirks, the subtlest tilt of his lips, and calls over his shoulder—
“Exactly.”
**
Lunch break concludes, and the shop settles back into its usual routine.
Collei sits perched on a stool in the corner, methodically snipping away excess branches from flowers with a pair of shears. Kazuha remains at his workstation, threading ribbons through delicate arrangements, his movements inch-perfect and gradual. Meanwhile, Tighnari makes his way back to the till, phone in hand as he reconnects to the Wi-Fi.
And then—his brows shoot up.
C has sent him an absurd number of messages.
C: Hey, T. Sorry if I freaked you out earlier. I swear I won’t look up their new city. C: T? Are you busy? C: Oh no… I definitely freaked you out. God, I hope not. C: No, wait—I totally did. Shit. I’m so fucking sorry. C: T? C: I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. C: T… If you’re there… move the glass. C: Hahaha. Sorry, terrible joke. Horrible. Awful. Great job, C. Now he’s definitely going to ghost you.
Tighnari huffs, shaking his head. This guy…
Feeling mildly bad for leaving him in agony, he finally types a response.
T: That was pathetic, C. You’re right. I should abandon you. C: T!!! I’m so sorry!! Do you hate me? T: No, I don’t. I just had lunch and forgot to reply. I’m sorry too. C: Oh, thank fuck. I really thought I messed up. Again, I’m sorry for being weird earlier. Didn’t mean to. T: It’s fine. I’m still serious about knowing how to use an ax, though. C: You’re really stuck on that, huh? T: Just stating facts. C: Right. Well, I think it’s kind of cute, so I’ll let it slide. T: Whatever helps you sleep at night, C. Have you eaten? C: Yeah, we ordered takeout. Two of my friends went out without saying where. I’m stuck with one of them—we’re working on something, so I can’t really text right now. Just needed to see your reply. I’ll talk to you later, yeah? T: That’s a lot of words just to get rid of me. C: I swear I’m not. T: Relax, I’m kidding. I’m going back to work too. Talk later. C: Okay. As long as you actually do. T: Deal. C: Deal.
Satisfied, Tighnari pockets his phone, dropping into his chair to check the shop’s emails. He doesn’t get far. Scarcely half an hour passes before the door swings open, the bell overhead chiming softly.
Scaramouche strolls in, speaking animatedly with his companion—who, again, is in disguise. “We should’ve brought him,” the guy insists, their tone carrying a slight edge of exasperation. “He’d love this place.”
“We can bring him next time, Xiao. You already spend every waking moment with him. Can’t you separate yourself for a couple of hours?”
Tighnari’s mind clicks into place.
Xiao.
So this is Alatus.
The mental image resurfaces—dark hair accented with teal highlights, striking golden eyes, faintly glowing tattoos. He looks sharp, almost severe, yet according to Collei, he’s the gentlest of them all. You wouldn’t notice at first glance, though. Only longtime fans—or the particularly observant—would pick up on it.
Unintentionally, Tighnari cocks a brow. Across the shop, Kazuha, now standing between the rows of shelves, sends him a knowing look.
Yeah, same thought.
The moment Scaramouche notices Kazuha, his steps falter—just a tad.
There it is. That tiny, split-second shift in expression. The adjustment of posture. The flicker of awareness.
Tighnari smirks.
Kazuha is the first to speak, his voice smooth and composed. “Hello, may I help you with something?”
Scaramouche straightens, recovering quickly. “Oh, hi. Do you remember me from last time?”
Kazuha doesn’t miss a beat. “How could I forget? You’re that guy from that one band.”
No hesitation. No theatrics. Just stating it plainly.
Tighnari hums, amused, watching the interaction unfold. He can jive with that.
Then, somewhere in the room where she works with pots, Collei’s head snaps up so fast it’s a wonder she doesn’t give herself whiplash. Tighnari barely has time to brace before—“Oh. My. Gosh! Scaramouche and Alatus?!” she squeals.
Hah… She recognized him immediately. Fans. What a fascinating species.
“Oh?” Xiao muses, tilting his head. “Looks like we have a fan in the room.”
It’s the first time Tighnari hears his voice properly—his talking voice, in person. It’s not what he expected. There’s a clemency to it, almost soft-spoken despite the sharp edge to his features. Interesting.
Anyway, Collei practically flies toward them, already fumbling for her phone, any sense of shame long forgotten. “Yes! Yes, I am! I’m such a huuuuge fan!” she gushes, breathless with excitement.
Tighnari can only look away, resisting the urge to press his fingers to his temple. This is… a lot.
A sudden laugh breaks through the shop’s quiet buzz—a bright, tinkling sound that turns heads. Tighnari glances back, just in time to see Scaramouche and Xiao unveiling themselves for Collei, pushing down their hoods and slipping off their sunglasses.
Well, damn. Now he can really see them—their faces, their eyes, the way the shop’s lights catch the shine of their jewelry. Xiao’s ears are peppered with silver piercings, sharp accents against the delicate glow of his skin, while a black choker circles Scaramouche’s neck like a signature. Their smiles are picture-perfect, teeth straight and gleaming as they lean into the frame of Collei’s phone, throwing up peace signs on either side of her.
They’re naturals.
“Thank you so much!” Collei beams, practically vibrating as she tucks her phone away.
“No problem.” Xiao offers her a small smile. “What’s your name?”
“Collei! I’m Collei! I’ve been a fan since your first album—Just Four Lads! I love your music!”
And there she goes, fangirling even harder.
To Tighnari’s surprise, they don’t seem annoyed in the slightest.
The three of them embark into an easy, unforced bounce—laughing, answering Collei’s never-ending questions, exchanging casual high-fives like old friends. It’s shockingly constitutional. And honestly? Tighnari finds himself… pleased. Happy, truly, watching how they treat her with genuine warmth. He doesn’t have the heart to cut in and remind her that hello, she still has work to do?
But then there’s Xiao.
And he keeps looking at him.
Has been, actually. Since they wandered toward one of the shelves where Sweet Flowers are stacked, backs pressed against the wooden display.
Tighnari feels an odd flare of self-consciousness under the load of his stare. It’s not intrusive, nor hostile—just watchful. What’s that about?
He shakes it off. Probably just a habit. Famous people must always be on high alert, right? It’s not necessarily about him—maybe he’s just imagining things.
Deciding to focus on something tangible, Tighnari turns back to his monitor, scanning through emails. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches movement—Scaramouche, sauntering toward Kazuha, sliding into conversation as if he’s picking up right where they left off last time. Fascinating.
Tighnari isn’t a lip-reader, so he doesn’t even bother deciphering what’s being said. Instead, he returns his attention to his screen.
Until—
“Um, hi. Are you the shop owner?”
A voice—low, slightly raspy—breaks the quiet.
Tighnari looks up, fingers still hovering over his keyboard.
Xiao stands on the other side of the counter, golden eyes steady and cacographic.
Tighnari’s fingers curl before he lowers his hands, subtly balling one into a loose fist at his side. He schools his expression, keeping his tone even. “Yeah, that’s me. Thanks for stopping by, by the way. My colleague, Collei, is very excited to meet you.”
Xiao nods. “Yeah, we noticed.” His lips twitch—the ghost of a smile. “We’re happy to be here.” A pause. “I’m sorry, you are?”
Tighnari releases the mouse, rising from his chair. “Tighnari.” He offers a hand.
Xiao takes it, his grip firm but not overbearing. Tighnari notes the roughness of his fingertips—calloused, worn from years of practice.
“Xiao,” the star introduces himself, then after a beat, “Alatus.”
Tighnari smiles faintly. “I already know who you are.”
Xiao inclines his head, unfazed. “Tighnari, huh. I feel like I already know you too.”
Tighnari stills.
“…I beg your pardon?”
The handshake breaks, but Xiao’s expression shifts ever so slightly—his eyes widening for just a fraction of a second.
“Nothing,” he says quickly, too quickly. “I just—” He exhales, visibly backtracking. “I meet a lot of people. Must’ve… mistaken you for someone else. Sorry.”
Tighnari studies him. That… was weird.
“…Okay.”
Xiao lifts a hand to the back of his neck, rubbing unheedingly as if the motion alone could smooth over whatever awkward tension had crept into the conversation. Tighnari keeps his gaze steady, assessing. Something is up.
“Right…” he says slowly, neutrally. “So, do you happen to have any Cecilia?”
“Uh, yeah… I do.” Tighnari straightens, already calling, “Collei?”
“Yes, boss!”
She materializes immediately, quick as a flash.
Tighnari is unable to stop himself from laughing. “Would you be so kind as to assist Mr. Alatus with the Cecilias?”
“Of course, boss!” She beams, practically sparkling as she gestures toward the shelves. “Here, this way, Mr. Alatus, sir!”
Tighnari watches them go, his amusement sticking. Collei is a whirlwind of zest, her energy infectious. She’s like the little sister he never had.
Still, as Xiao follows after her, the man glances back.
Again.
Like he knows something Tighnari doesn’t.
The feeling stays.
Later, as more customers trickle in, both Scaramouche and Xiao instinctively slip their disguises back on—hoods up, shades in place. The seamlessness of it is almost mechanical, like muscle memory. They’ve done this a hundred times before.
The very minute they reach the till, Tighnari has a general idea of what they picked out—Scaramouche with a pot of Dendrobium, Xiao with the Cecilias. Ready to check them out, he gestures for Kazuha to prep a basket and a pot, then slides a card across the counter, glancing up at Xiao with his usual question. “What should I write here?”
Scaramouche leans against Xiao’s shoulder, murmuring something too low for Tighnari to catch.
Xiao exhales, almost like he’s poising himself. “Yeah, I… have this feeling I could trust Mr. Tighnari here.”
Huh?
Tighnari blinks, taken off guard. “I’m sorry. Trust me with what, exactly?”
“That you won’t out me,” Xiao replies simply, dipping his chin. His eyes—intense, unwavering—hold onto Tighnari’s gaze like he’s searching for any sign of insincerity.
Tighnari stills, temporarily caught between curiosity and skepticism. What is happening right now?
“…Out you?” he repeats, wary. “I don’t think I follow.”
A faint pink dusts Xiao’s cheeks, and then, clearing his throat, he speaks fast, like he just wants to get it over with, “I’m dating one of our bandmates. The vocalist.”
Tighnari absorbs that in silence.
Then, heaving, he mutters, “Ah… so the rumors are true.”
Xiao nods, composed now. “Yeah. But we’d like the rumors to stay just rumors.”
Tighnari surveys him for a moment longer before dipping his head. “Understood.”
There’s a flicker of relief in Xiao’s demeanor, his shoulders easing. “Thank you.” Then, quieter, “Please write: ‘You’ve got the nicest smile out of everyone I know.’ And… ‘I love you.’”
Tighnari nearly fumbles the pen.
He’s certain his face has turned a shade of rose. Tch. He focuses on writing, keeping his strokes neat despite the way his thoughts scramble. He himself just wants to get this over with.
When he finishes, he pushes the card toward Xiao. “Alright… Here you are.”
Xiao leans over, scanning the writing before offering a small, satiated smile. “Thanks. How much?”
“Fifteen thousand mora,” Tighnari answers automatically, barely sparing a glance at the apple-shaped clock. 3:17 PM.
Xiao retrieves his wallet, flipping it open. “Can I pay by card?”
“Sure.”
Sliding the card over, Xiao watches as Tighnari processes the payment, his fingers moving over the register before handing back the card.
Xiao pockets it but doesn’t step away just yet. “Don’t you have a tip jar?”
Tighnari pauses, caught off guard. “…No.”
Xiao tilts his head, thoughtful. “You should.”
Should I? He hadn’t even considered it.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he replies instead. “Thanks for the suggestion. For now, here’s your flowers.”
Kazuha hands over the basket of Cecilias to Xiao, while Tighnari pushes the Dendrobium pot toward Scaramouche, who grins, admiring the craftsmanship. “Damn, this looks amazing,” he mutters, sounding impressed.
Xiao cradles the basket in his arms before adjusting his grip, holding it by the handle at his side. “No biggie.” He turns a little, calling, “Yo, Kuni.”
Scaramouche, still eyeing his flowers, roughly reacts. “Ah.”
“Ready to go?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Scaramouche exchanges a brief nod with Kazuha before stepping away to join Xiao. Together, they make their way toward the door.
As they step out into the cool afternoon air, Xiao says something—low, private. Tighnari wouldn’t have thought anything of it. Except—
Scaramouche suddenly stiffens, eyes widening before darting back to glance at…
Tighnari.
…Okay. But why?
**
“So…” Collei leans over the hand-off plane, voice dripping with mischief. “What did you and Kunikuzushi talk about?”
Kazuha, busy cutting out stickers for the decorations, doesn’t look up. He simply shakes his head. “Ah, just… stuff. A lot of stuff.”
“Stuff like what?” she presses.
“Random stuff.”
Collei squints, unimpressed. “He’s not gonna spill anything, is he?” She turns to Tighnari with an exaggerated pout.
Tighnari shrugs. He gets it. Some things aren’t meant to be discussed.
Collei huffs. “Oh, come on! Is he hitting on you, Kazu? Does he like you? Because I can tell that he likes you.” She crosses her arms, practically radiating smugness.
“He never said he does,” Kazuha murmurs, eyes still on his work.
“Well, that’s because he didn’t need to! It’s way too obvious!”
Kazuha’s hands still for just a second. His cheeks, usually pale, flush a shade suspiciously close to his eye color.
Collei narrows her gaze, grin widening. “I bet he asked for your number…”
Kazuha exhales through his nose. “He did.”
“Oh my god, so you’re gonna be text mates now! One of my friends is gonna be text mates with a General—”
“But I didn’t give it to him.”
Silence.
Collei’s face goes slack. “Wait, what?”
Tighnari chuckles. “Of course, he didn’t.”
And just like that, he tunes them out.
He hadn’t expected Kazuha to turn Scaramouche down, but he can’t say he’s surprised. With how much Kazuha prefers to keep to himself, it makes sense. Maybe he just doesn’t want the attention. Maybe he doesn’t want to be courted by someone famous. Or maybe, as always, Kazuha’s just going to do whatever he feels like doing.
Either way, it’s very in character.
Tighnari returns to his computer, opening up the browser. His thoughts drift. C hasn’t messaged in a while.
It’s not that weird—his schedule is all over the place. Probably just busy.
Yeah. That’s probably it.
They serve more customers as the afternoon stretches on.
Collei wanders around the shop, occasionally sighing, dramatically, lost in her own world. She taps away at her phone between tasks, grinning at something only she knows. Meanwhile, Kazuha has already driven off to handle deliveries, the thrum of their shop truck fading into the distance—right on time for the scheduled pick-ups.
Thus and thus, the day rolls forward.
**
C still hasn’t messaged, even as closing time rolls around.
It’s not a big deal. Shouldn’t be.
C must just be truly busy—maybe his manager pulled him in at the last second again, or he got caught up with friends, distracted by something outside of their usual customs. There are plenty of explanations.
Still, the silence sits oddly with Tighnari. But he doesn’t dwell on it. He has a house to return to, pets to feed, plants to water. A life outside of an online conversation.
So, he locks up the shop, watches his assistants head off for the night, then slides into his car and starts the drive home.
Overhead, the sky is heavy, clouds thick and layered in muted grays. It’ll probably rain again—nice. He sleeps best when the air smells like wet earth, when the sound of raindrops hums against the roof like a lullaby.
Pulling up to the curb, he parks, steps out, and makes his way inside, flicking on the lightbulbs one by one as he moves through his small, lived-in space. The Wi-Fi router hums softly as he plugs it in. Kicking off his shoes, he sinks onto the sofa, exhaling as he wiggles his toes against the fabric of his socks.
Then, after a few quiet seconds, his phone vibrates.
A single message.
C: Hello.
That’s it?
Tighnari snorts.
T: Hey. C: Seems like it’s about to rain again. But I guess you’ve been home for a while now.
Huh.
Raining again, he says.
This is the second time C has mentioned the weather—the same weather Tighnari is experiencing.
So, they live close to each other.
Interesting.
Tighnari doesn’t mind. Not in the slightest. But that doesn’t mean he won’t call C out for it.
T: Yeah. Hey, you slipped again, just so you know. C: What do you mean? C: Oh.
At least he catches on quickly.
C: This makes us even then. Or not, since you just admitted it’s the same for you :P So… are we neighbors? T: Perhaps. C: I’m okay with that. T: Me too, I suppose.
The conversation meanders between them as Tighnari moves through his evening routine. C isn’t replying as fast as he normally does, but that’s fine. If anything, it reassures Tighnari—at least he knows C also has a life.
So, while waiting for responses, he tends to his crops, letting the scent of damp soil and fresh leaves settle in the cool air. He feeds his pets, greeting his Senegal parrots, who chatter back at him in mismatched phrases that make him chuckle.
Dinner is a slow, willful process—gathering spices from the cupboards, chopping vegetables he grew himself, simmering everything down into something warm and flavorful. He eats while making a mental list of which flowers in his backyard are ready for the shop.
This lifestyle—his small, quiet, self-made lifestyle—is good. Exactly how he wants it.
His phone buzzes again.
C: Hey, T. T: Yep? C: Do you have other social media? T: No. C: For real? No Twitter? T: I don’t have Twitter. C: Good for you then. Haha. T: Why do you ask? And why is it good that I don’t have one? Is it that bad over there? C: Bad can’t even describe half of it. T: Oh. Lol. Then I’ll stay as far away as I can. C: That you should. Although… it’d be nice to see you tweet. Your intellect and wit would be refreshing. T: Well, too late for that. C: Definitely too late. This is better though. Just me, you, and this godforsaken app. T: You don’t like sharing, do you? C: I don’t. I get to have you all to myself :) T: Not just a sap, but possessive too? Wonderful, C. C: You wound me. T: Deserved :p C: :o !! C: You used an emoji. T: This :p? Learned it from you.
**
Tighnari arrives at the shop earlier than usual, already set on refilling their stock.
The moment he steps inside, he shrugs on his apron, pulls on his gloves, and gets to work. Two hours later, he’s still crouched in the greenhouse, pressing damp soil into place, planting seeds in careful rows alongside fresh fertilizer. He reaches for the watering can, tilting it just enough for a steady stream to soak the earth.
And then he repeats the process. Again and again. Coherent, efficient, precise.
He’s about to press his shovel into the next row when—
“Uh, boss?”
Tighnari glances up. Collei stands at the entrance, framed by the light seeping through the greenhouse panels. “You’ve got a visitor.”
“A visitor?” He wasn’t expecting anyone. He straightens a bit. “Did they say who they are?”
“No. But…” Collei tilts her head. “They look like a walk-in applicant.”
An applicant?
“But we’re not hiring.”
Collei shrugs, clearly just as confused as he is.
Humming, Tighnari peels off his gloves, rising from the ground. He unfastens his apron, leaving it draped over the nearby bench before making his way out of the greenhouse, passing through the backroom and stepping into the cool, air-conditioned front of the shop.
And there, standing near the counter, is a girl he’s never seen before.
Long ginger hair cascades over her shoulders, flowing like silk against the pale yellow fabric of her dress. She’s studying the arrangement of flowers nearby, but the second she senses his presence, she turns—and Tighnari is momentarily struck by the sheer brightness of her aquamarine eyes.
“Hi!” she greets, beaming.
He nods politely. “May I help you?”
“Yes! Um—” She clasps her hands together. “My name is Nilou, and I was hoping I could apply here?”
Tighnari frowns, his ears twitching. “Oh. My apologies, but we’re not hiring at the moment.”
The excitement in her expression deflates instantly. She pouts, looking so genuinely dejected that Tighnari has to fight the urge to sigh.
“I’m sorry,” he adds, a bit softer, “but why did you think we were—”
Then he notices them.
People.
Peering through the shop’s front windows.
Too many. Far too many.
What the hell?
“Um. Boss?” Collei’s voice is tight, uncertain. When Tighnari turns, he sees her staring at her phone, wide-eyed, as if she’s just seen something horrific. “Our shop got featured in a news outlet,” she breathes. Then, barely a second later—“Scratch that. Outlets.”
A slow, sinking feeling creeps into his stomach.
“Oh,” Tighnari swallows. “Is this about—”
“Looks like it,” Kazuha interjects, stepping into the room, his expression scrawled.
The applicant shifts uneasily, glancing between them. “I’m sorry, but… what exactly is happening? Why are there so many people outside?”
Tighnari levels her with a look. “Aren’t you here for the same thing?”
She waves her hands frantically. “Oh, no! No, I just really need a job close to my college. Promise!”
He narrows his eyes slightly, but he doesn’t sense any dishonesty.
“Okay, well,” he says at last, “we don’t have a position open right now.”
She slumps, visibly chastened. “Oh, come on! Please? I can sweep the floor, clean around, wipe windows—anything! Just please—”
Tighnari rubs his temple. What a morning.
“Wait for me in the back.” He nods at Collei. “Show her the backroom, please.”
“Copy, boss! Come with me, girl.”
Collei practically drags her away, and as soon as they disappear, Tighnari exhales sharply, turning his focus back to the real issue at hand. What the hell is he supposed to do about the crowd outside?
Shooing them away would only paint the shop in a bad light. He likes his shop’s good reputation. But letting this continue? That’s a problem waiting to happen.
With a shake of his head, he moves behind the till, waking up his computer.
If he’s going to understand exactly what kind of chaos he’s dealing with, he needs to see what Collei was talking about.
First, he types Anise and Lemongrass.
A few old articles pop up—features from years ago. Nothing relevant.
Okay.
Next, he tries The Generals.
Immediately, dozens of images fill the screen—concert shots, candid interviews, press junkets. Still not what he’s looking for.
So he narrows it down.
Flower Shop The Generals.
The search results load, and—oh, shit.
The headlines are preposterous.
‘Band Members of The Generals, Alatus and Scaramouche, Spotted Walking Into a Flower Shop in Avidya!’
‘Scaramouche and Alatus Seen Shopping for Flowers—Could It Be That They’ve Found The One?’
‘The Generals’ Alatus and Scaramouche Visit Anise and Lemongrass—Who Are They Buying Flowers For?’
‘Cutie Drummer and Hottie Lead Guitarist Seen Flower Shopping—Romance in the Air?’
Tighnari presses his fingers against his temple. Oh, for Archon’s sake.
He skims through the articles, scanning the over-the-top speculation, the blurry zoomed-in photos, the pure absurdity of it all.
At his peripherals, Kazuha passes by, and Tighnari barely glances up before asking, “What do you think, Kazuha? Is this good news for us?”
Kazuha hums. “I mean… if it means more customers, then…”
“Customers, sure. But what if we get fans camping outside the shop just to catch a glimpse of their idols?”
“Then that could pose a problem, boss.”
Tighnari sighs.
Before he can spiral any further, a tab on his screen blinks—a new message notification.
C.
Tighnari blows a breath, clicking on it.
C: Hey. You there? T: I’m here. What’s up? C: Just checking in. You alright? T: I am. Why wouldn’t I be? C: Nothing… Just had a feeling. Happy to know you are :) T: That’s sweet of you to check in on me. C: Ah, just felt like I had to. I’m actually in a meeting with my manager and friends right now, so… I’ll chat with you later. T: Sure. Have fun. C: Yeah, not sure about fun. Two of my friends did an oopsie, so now all four of us gotta sit through all the blame lol. But I’ll try.
Tighnari pauses, staring at the message. An oopsie?
What kind of—
He shakes his head. Not my business.
Sliding his phone into his pocket, he leaves the till, letting Kazuha handle the ever-growing stream of customers. There are more people than the norm, the shop teeming with energy he still isn’t sure how to feel about. On one hand, business is thriving. On the other… this could be a stumbling block.
Pushing the thought aside for now, he strides into the backroom, where the walk-in applicant—Nilou, was it?—waits with hopeful eyes.
“You’re hired.”
Aquamarine eyes go round, her entire face lighting up. “Wait—really? Oh my god, yes!”
“Will you be able to start today?”
“Yes! Absolutely!”
Tighnari nods, exhaling through his nose. “Good. Collei, show her where the aprons are. We don’t do uniforms here, so—”
“That’s fine!” Nilou chirps, raising a hand. “I’ve got plenty of clothes I can wear to work.”
“…Right. Am I correct about your name being Nilou?”
“Yes!”
“Alright, Nilou. Welcome aboard.”
Collei squeals and throws her arms around Nilou, the two of them hugging like childhood friends reuniting after years apart. Wow.
Tighnari watches for a second, then promptly turns on his heel and leaves them to it.
Back at the register, Kazuha is stationed at the hand-off plane, finishing up a bouquet for a customer. He scrawls something onto a card, then rings them up while Tighnari slides in beside him to help with the next order.
Together, they work through the queue, the shop flowing like a well-oiled machine. Customers come and go, the scent of fresh flowers thick in the air, the sound of paper wrapping crinkling under practiced hands.
“Bye! Thank you for dropping by Anise and Lemongrass!” Kazuha calls out, waving at the latest customer—a green-eyed individual with thick glasses who beams before heading out the door.
The rush slows, and Tighnari finally takes a moment to pull up his messages with C again, resting his chin in his palm as he rereads their last exchange.
Something about it lingers; a nagging thought.
The timing of C’s text—checking in on him, right when his shop had made headlines.
And that comment about an oopsie.
Tighnari frowns.
“What’s C stand for, boss?”
He jerks, nearly dropping his phone.
“Kazuha, damn it! How long have you been standing there?”
Kazuha is utterly unbothered. “Long enough to see that whoever this is mentioned an ‘oopsie.’” He raises a brow. “Are you talking to Cyno?”
Tighnari chokes on air. “Cyno?! Like, from that band?! No! What the hell, Kazu? Why would you even—”
He stops.
Looks back at the messages.
Then lowers his voice.
“I mean… I don’t think so?”
Because no way.
Right?
“This is a dating site, Kazuha,” he argues, though suddenly it sounds a lot more like he’s convincing… himself. “What would a famous person be doing on a dating site? With his own face on display?”
Kazuha doesn’t answer.
Just gawks at him.
Then, with an infuriatingly unintelligible smile, he turns on his heel and walks away, leaving Tighnari standing there—heart suddenly thudding a little too fast.
He snorts to himself. “There’s no way.”
But even as he scoffs, he scrolls back.
Back through weeks of messages, combing over conversations he’d never questioned before.
And now, he can’t help but wonder—
What if there is?

Anonymously Autonomous: an Autonomy Based Legacy Challenge
For The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4
Have you ever played an ISBI (I'm Surrounded by Idiots) legacy, or an asylum challenge? Was it something you enjoyed, but felt a little ick about the name, and the premise being that the sims you don't control are "insane," "crazy," "erratic," or just in some way just stupid? Well, you're not alone! The autonomy in these games isn't great, but can make for some really chaotic situations that you'd never get if you controlled every single sim most of the time, so it's fun to occasionally play a game where your sims are allowed to just be their little chaotic selves. And I want to help facilitate the chaos because maybe I'm a little bit of a Watcher of Mischief myself. If you're interested, keep reading!
Basic Concept
If you know the ISBI and Asylum challenges, you know the main premise: you can only control one sim in your household. In the ISBI Legacy, your founder will eventually "pass the torch" on to their heir, who will become the next sim you can control, and you will no longer be able to control your previous sim. It's very simple. There are other rules, and some versions even include the addition of points, but that's the basic idea.
For AAL (Anonymously Autonomous Legacy), at the bare bones, it's the same exact concept: one single sim you can control. But I decided to do something a little different with this, as well, because I didn't want this to be just a renaming of the ISBI. I want it to be its own thing. And what that thing is is:
Randomization.
The sim you can control will not necessarily be your founder or heir at all times. When you only control one sim, it will always be that sim you control, but once you have multiple sims in your household, after a set period of time you have to Spin a Wheel with all of your household's eligible sims on it to pick what sim you will control during the next set period of time. Sometimes, you will get the same sim multiple times in a row. Sometimes you might never even get to control your heir. It will all depend on the wheel (or dice roller, or number randomizer, whatever you wish).
Interested? Good!
General Rules (for Sims 2, 3, and 4)
Create a YA sim of your choice. If you are playing TS2, you may start either as a YA in university, or you may start as an adult to start their life right away. They can have any personality, likes/dislikes, turn ons/offs, whatever you want.
If you want to start off with randomization from the very beginning, give them a spouse, and spin the wheel to decide who you play as from the beginning.
Use whatever age span you want to for this. However, short might make this even more difficult that it already will be, so only use short if you want an extra challenge.
You may not use money cheats.
Move into a lot using whatever money your family has. You may not give them more money to build them a nice house.
Optional: Move them into the biggest lot in the game (whichever iteration you're playing), and do some lawn living. If they still have a lot of money, reduce their money in a way you see fit - remove it through cheats, or purchase a really expensive item that serves no practical purpose.
Next generation begins when the heir becomes a YA.
Non-heir children may stay in the family home however long you want.
Autonomy Randomization Rules
Once you have more than one sim in your household, you must decide on a specific timeframe in which to randomize who you will be allowed to control and how long you can control them.
An example of what I mean by this is if you have four sims in your household. Let's call them Matthew, Frankie, Shawn, and Sky. Matthew is the founder, Frankie his wife, Shawn a child, and Sky a toddler. You input their names in the wheel, and spin it. The wheel lands on Shawn's name, so for that entire week, he is the only one you are allowed to play.
When you have a sim chosen to be the only one you can control, that is the only sim you may select. You may not select other sims to check their inventory, to check their needs, etc. Their needs and everything are a mystery to you. If they genuinely seem to be stuck, you may reset them however your particular iteration allows you to do so.
You may use your own timeframe for selecting a random sim, but I have come up with my own in case you want to use one of mine.
Weekly Randomization: On Sunday at 8 am, spin the wheel. From that moment until the next Sunday at 8 am, you will control only that sim.
Seasonal Randomization: This is similar to the previous one, but if you play TS4 and play with 14 day or 28 day seasons or have some kind of mod or cheats to modify the length of your seasons. On the first day of the season at 8 am, spin the wheel. From that moment until the first day of the next season, you will control only that sim.
Yearly Randomization: If you want more time with a single sim, this one is for you. On the first day of Spring at 8 am, spin the wheel. From that moment through all of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, you will control only that sim. On the first day of the next Spring at 8 am, you will spin the wheel again.
Age Span Randomization: The next time your current sim ages up, spin the wheel. So if your founder starts as a YA, spin the wheel when they age up to adult. If the next sim is a child, you play them until they age up to teen, and so forth.
No Randomization: This is an option. If you only want to control your torch holders, you don't have to randomize who you control at all, you can just control your founder then heirs, as long as you only ever control one sim at a time.
Random Randomization: This one would be rather difficult to keep track of, but if you want to, you can use either a number randomizer, or a dicer roller, or some way, to pick how many days you will control your current sim. When you first start controlling a sim, you will roll to find out how many days you may control that sim. Once you move onto the next sim, roll once again to find out how long you will control that sim.
This is all of the timeframes I can come up with right now, but if you have any ideas feel free to message them to me!
Another rule about the randomization is that you may roll the same sim multiple times in a row. You may not remove your current sim from the wheel - whatever sim you get is the one you play.
The sim you control doesn't need to be related to your family. If they are a controllable sim in your household, you must put them on the wheel. If you move in your best friend? You may end up controlling them more often than your own sim.
Optional: If you are going to be posting your legacy on Simblr, or somewhere else, and want to really follow the "anonymous" part of this challenge, keep the sim you are controlling a secret from your viewers! See if they can guess which sim is being controlled, maybe have a poll every time before the next switch just for fun.
General and Iteration-Specific Rules
The first thing I'm going to talk about is what sims are eligible to be put on the wheel, depending on which game you are playing.
The Sims 2: The sims eligible for being the controllable sim are as follows: toddlers, children, teens, young adults (if you send them to university), adults, and elders. All occults/supernatural beings are also eligible, if they are in your household. If you use cheats to control babies or pets, you may also add them to the wheel.
The Sims 3: The sims eligible for being the controllable sim are as follows: babies, toddlers, children, teens, young adults, adults, elders, cats, dogs, and horses. All occults/supernatural beings are also eligible, if they are in your household.
The Sims 4: The sims eligible for being the controllable sim are as follows: infants, toddlers, children, teens, young adults, adults, and elders. All occults/supernatural beings are also eligible, if they are in your household. Also, if you use the mod that allows you to play pets, you may add them to the wheel as well.
You may play however you would normally play, except that you are only allowed to play one sim at a time.
Mods and CC are allowed. You may even use mods that improve autonomy if you so wish.
For any of the games, you may set things up to make life easier for you. For example, I suggest using the baby monitor in TS3 if you end up having to play as a baby - that way, you can use it to call attention to yourself if you are in need. For TS4, I suggest using MCCC to make more things autonomous, like gardening and repairing items. Things like that.
When controlling a sim, you may use their reward points to purchase things. Even if they are rewards that will help you greatly, nothing is off limits. Use whatever advantage you are given.
Nothing in the build/buy modes are off limits either. If you want sim death, feel free to build the horrors. If you want to keep as far away from death as you want, you don't even need an oven. It's up to your discretion.
Also, how do you choose an heir? You can choose an heir any way you choose. Whether you choose the one you like the most, have an heir poll, or use one of the Succession Laws from the official legacy challenge, any way you prefer is fine.
What is the Goal?
Your goal is to get to the 10th generation, and will end when the 10th generation's youngest child ages up to YA. You may play further than this if you please, but that is the main goal.
However, this is not as simple as you might thing, and that is why it is your only required goal.
Because you will (probably) be randomizing which sim you can control, it's not always going to easy to keep your heirs alive, or even find your heir a spouse/significant other to have children with. After all, if you can't control the heir, how can you find them someone to love?
You will have to use whatever sim you are allowed to play to your advantage. If you can't play your heir, use the sim you can play to bring eligible sims to the household to meet your heir.
Another reason that the goal is simple is because sims are not the brightest bulbs in the box, or the sharpest tool in the shed (I had to say it). Some of your unplayable sims might very well die to something silly, like eating too many jelly beans (TS3) or starving to death. Some babies, infants, toddlers, or children may be taken away by social services. Some pets might be taken away as well.
Optional: If you want a little extra challenge, you can add the generational goal that you have to try to complete your heir's LTW/aspiration before they die.
"What is the fail condition for this challenge?" You may be asking. There is exactly one fail condition: every sim related to your family in the household dies/is taken away. So, realistically, this challenge is very difficult to fail. If you only have one related sim left in the household but there are relatives out in the world and you want some insurance, feel free to bring the family back into the home. Whatever you can do to not fail? Do it.
And that's all I have for now! I haven't put together points or anything, or a score card, because I know people don't really play challenges for points anymore. But, if enough people want to play for points, I will add a scoresheet/scoring section.
If you have any questions, please message them to me or comment on this post, and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability!
If you decide to play this challenge, please tag it with #SimsAALC so that I can see it!

#RainbowRoad for Rainbow Railroad Charity Drive
Hello, everyone!
As you may know, a couple of years ago I wrote a Good Omens fic called Sit Tight, Take Hold. It kicked off an amazing friendship with a group of people who have now come together to organize a fundraiser to support an LGBTQ+ non-profit.
I'm really excited to announce that we are running a charity drive to support Rainbow Railroad alongside the release Good Omens Season 2 and the third and final part of the #rainbowroad series, Fools Rush In.
Tumblr media
What is Rainbow Railroad?
Rainbow Railroad is a non-profit organization that works to relocate at-risk LGBTQ+ individuals to safety globally.
"As a result of Rainbow Railroad, more LGBTQI+ individuals can access lives free from persecution, and ultimately, we envision a world where LGBTQI+ people can live lives of their choosing, free from persecution."
If you've read STTH and AALS, you may remember that Formula 1 visits a multitude of countries that have poor human rights and are unfriendly to LGBTQ+ individuals. I vacillated between many charity organizations before settling on this one, which encompasses the global nature of the #rainbowroad universe and some of the challenges the characters face. Thank you, @kookaburra-laugh, for suggesting this charity!
Great! How can I help?
@dustandhalos, @blairamok, and @cinnabarmint are releasing prints of their art for #rainbowroad on Etsy. Art options include:
a. A 5x7 postcard pack of 6 prints featured in STTH!
Tumblr media
b. An 12x18 poster of Crowley's C8ZR1 from part two, Accept A Little Spin
Tumblr media
c. And last but not least, an 18x24 print of Ezira's signed Anthony Fucking Crowley poster.
Tumblr media
[Preview images are protected with anti-AI cloaking technology Glaze, and may depict slight pixelation and/or distortion. Printed art will not depict this distortion.]
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. WE ARE PRINTING SIT TIGHT, TAKE HOLD. Thank you, again, to @blairamok, who made the astounding cover art.
I will update everyone once I get the physical proof, but the book includes 428 pages incorporating the tumblr posts, news articles, and text messages. The dimensions will be 6x9x1, printed in color on 80lb matte paper.
Tumblr media
How does this work?
Preorders open TODAY and will run for a month until Friday 9/1. Once preorders close, we will submit the orders to the various printers. All proceeds will go to Rainbow Railroad, minus the cost of printing and shipping orders. We hope to start shipping out merch mid to late-September. Depending on how many orders we get will depend on how quickly we can ship everything out, but we will keep you posted once preorders close.
Hopefully, if you order something and live in the US, it will arrive by the time Fools Rush In finishes posting on 10/13.🤞🤞🤞 We will be shipping internationally as well!
What if I can't afford to order anything?
That's okay! Please reblog this post so more people can see it. It will bring more attention to the charity drive and more attention to Rainbow Railroad!
What the heck is #rainbowroad?
#rainbowroad is a trilogy about our favorite Good Omens characters reimagined as Formula 1 drivers. I have no idea how this came into my head beyond binging Good Omens and Drive to Survive at the same time. The final part of the main trilogy, Fools Rush In, is currently posting and slated to end on 10/13. It is COMPLETE.
Thank you to my friends and all the readers who have made this possible! I am so excited to share this with you. Please reblog to boost awareness. If you have specific questions, shoot me an ask!
Massive thanks to @dustandhalos, @blairamok, @cinnabarmint, and @kookaburra-laugh for making this possible!

Reading the Quran Muhammad said: “Read the Quran, for it will intercede on behalf of its readers on the Day of Judgment. Read the chapters of Al Baqara (The Cow, chapter 2) and Aal Imraan (The Family of Imran, chapter 3), for they will come like clouds or a flock of birds on the Day of Judgment, interceding on behalf of its readers.”

Why The Quran Asks Us To Ponder
Tumblr media
Islam emphasises reflection, urging believers to use reason and contemplation to grasp the magnificence of creation and the purpose of life. The Quran, revealed to be a guidance for humanity, frequently calls us to use our intellect and ponder over the signs of Allah’s creation, encouraging deeper faith, gratitude, and understanding.
Below, we explore the Quran’s repeated call to contemplation, the signs in Allah’s creation, and the wisdom behind this reflection.
The Call to Ponder: A Divine Invitation
The Quran mentions the act of pondering 13 times, inviting readers to think beyond surface realities. Reflection in Islam is not just intellectual but also spiritual, helping people develop a connection with Allah by appreciating the beauty and precision of His creations. The Quran often presents questions that awaken hearts and minds:
“Do you not think?” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:44)
“Will you not then ponder?” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:219)
“Do they not reflect upon the Quran?” (Surah An-Nisa, 4:82)
“Will they not contemplate within themselves?” (Surah Ar-Rum, 30:8)
“So reflect, O people of insight.” (Surah Al-Hashr, 59:21)
“Do they not contemplate the Word?” (Surah Al-Mu’minun, 23:68)
“Do they not reflect upon the stories?” (Surah Yusuf, 12:111)
“Will you not ponder?” (Surah Al-Anaam, 6:50)
“In that are signs for those who reflect.” (Surah Ar-Rum, 30:21)
“For those who think and reflect…” (Surah Al-Zumar, 39:42)
“Do they not reflect on what Allah has created?” (Surah Al-A’raf, 7:185)
“Have they not traveled through the land to reflect?” (Surah Al-Hajj, 22:46)
“Do they not reflect on the heavens and the earth?” (Surah Ghafir, 40:57)
The Quran draws our attention to the vastness and intricacy of the universe as signs of Allah’s creative power:
“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, are signs for those of understanding.” (Surah Aal-Imran, 3:190)
From the sky to the earth, the Quran teaches that every element of nature reflects divine wisdom. The harmony in ecosystems, the precise orbit of celestial bodies, and the perfect design of living beings all bear witness to Allah’s knowledge and control.
Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “Think about the creation of Allah, but do not think about the essence of Allah, for you will never be able to comprehend it.” (Sunan Abi Dawood, 4726)
Islam invites us to appreciate Allah’s signs but warns against delving into matters beyond human understanding, such as Allah’s essence.
Gratitude and Faith through Reflection
Contemplation naturally leads to gratitude. When we reflect upon the intricacies of creation, we recognizse our dependence on Allah’s blessings and mercy, increasing our faith and humility. The Quran says:
“If you were to count the favours of Allah, you could never enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Surah An-Nahl, 16:18)
Reflection transforms routine experiences — such as observing the sunrise or feeling the breeze — into moments of spiritual awareness. Gratitude, in Islam, is not merely verbal but is shown through worship, kindness, and responsible stewardship of the earth.
Islam’s Encouragement to Seek Knowledge
Islam’s emphasis on reflection fosters a deep love for learning and personal growth. The first revealed words of the Quran were:
“Read in the name of your Lord who created.” (Surah Al-Alaq, 96:1)
This call to read, understand, and seek knowledge underscores the importance of intellectual development in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Ibn Majah, Hadith 224)
The act of pondering leads to acquiring knowledge, developing moral character, and fulfilling our purpose as vicegerents of Allah on earth.

The Quran and Sunnah guide believers to reflect on both scripture and creation, allowing them to develop a profound connection with Allah. Through contemplation, one not only understands life’s purpose but also appreciates the beauty, wisdom, and mercy of God. This reflection leads believers to live mindfully, with gratitude and humility, striving to embody the teachings of Islam.

How fascinating love it would be, in which you fear your beloved.
What a fascinating love it would be if you feared your beloved. Subhan'Allah! The real love. For the sake of Allah, in Divine love, i.e., Allah's Love, The love of Allāh ﷻ also includes the love of our prophet Muhammadﷺ, and all the prophets (عَلَيْهِ ٱلصَّلَاةُ وَٱلسَّلَامُ), and the Khulafa-e-Rashideen◌ؓ, Azwaj-e-Mutahirat◌ؓ, Ummahat-ul-Momineen◌ؓ, Ahl al-Bayt-e-Athaar◌ؓ, Shuhuda-e-Karbala◌ؓ, Ashra-Mubashra◌ؓ, Baqiya-tu-Sahaba Ikram (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ), Hazrat e Tab'in Tabe Tab'in, Shuhuda-e-Islam, Mufassireen, Muhadiseen ؒ , Awliya-Ikram ؒ Ajma'in (رضوان الله أجمعين) and our parents, brothers, sisters, family, relatives, neighbours, friends, the entire Ummah and all the living beings. Subhan'Allah!
"And those who truly believe, love Allah intensely."[Al-Baqarah | 2:165] Subhan'Allah! In which you also love the other lovers of your beloved. Not like any other metaphorical love, i.e., love for Allah ﷻ's creation. In which you detest other lovers of your beloved. Well, how can one's heart not love Allah, our Lord, the Almighty, the most compassionate and merciful, to whom belong the most beautiful names? To whom you can't thank enough, even if you spend your whole life in prostration. That heﷻis not in need of our worship, yet he showers us all with his abundant blessings. Allahu-Akbar! Heﷻ is "al-Shakur", rewarding our few deeds with limitless happiness, even though he's the one who gifted us the ability to carry out those very deeds. In fact,
it is said that fear denotes abstaining not only from all that is forbidden but also from those deeds from which it is advisable to refrain. According to a scholar, fear forces a traveller on the spiritual path to hold back and refrain from displeasing Allah. Just like when you love someone, you are afraid of making them upset with you or refrain from doing anything that will displease them. Also, just like lovers who are unable to meet, they send letters, and the lover reads them over and over. Qur'an-e-Kareem is also like a love letter from Allāh ﷻ. From the beloved to you. so that we read it over and over again. Subhan'Allah! It implants fear in our hearts concerning our end. The Qur'an warns us to be steadfast in our belief and practice of Islam. May Allahﷻ guide us all. Many verses of the Qur'an cause hearts to tremble with fear and are like threads with which to knit the lace of life. "And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it."[Al-Zilzal | 99:8]
and Say: "Shall We tell you who will be the greatest losers by their works? Those whose efforts have been wasted in the life of the world while they thought they were doing good. " [Al-Kahf | 18:103-4] Allahu Akbar! May Allah ﷻ grant us all forgiveness and protection against Shaytan and his deceptions. And may he ﷻ make it easy for us to fight against our Nafs and to oppose our desires and sins. Allahumma Ameen! How happy and prosperous are those who knit the laces of their lives with these threads? With such warnings, the Qur'an orients us toward the Hereafter and encourages us to consider it more important than anything else. In his luminous speech, Allah the Almighty uses fear as a whip to force us into His presence and honour us with His company. Like a mother's reproofs to her child that draws him or her to her warm, affectionate arms, this whip attracts the believer toward the depths of Divine Mercy and enriches him or her with Allāh ﷻ's blessings and bounties that He compels humanity to deserve and receive out of His Mercy and Graciousness. Subhan'Allah! How can one's heart not melt out in the love of their lord? Indeed, One whose heart is full of fear and awe of the Almighty cannot be afraid of others and is therefore freed from all useless and suffocating fear. In His luminous, hope-giving speech, the Almighty Allāh ﷻ tells people not to fear anything or anyone other than Him: "Have no fear of them. Fear Me, if you are true believers." [Aal-Imran | 3:175] "They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what we have provided them, they spend." [As-Sajda | 32:16]. Heﷻ praises those who design their lives according to their fear of God use their willpower carefully and strive to avoid sins. Such sensitive and careful souls fly in the heavens with the Almighty's approval and pleasure. Also, those holding Him in reverence drink the sweet, enlivening water of nearness, which comes from taking refuge in Him. One who fears God sometimes sighs and sometimes weeps, especially when alone, in an attempt to extinguish the pain of being separate from Him as well as the fire of Hell, which is the greatest distance between him and Allāh ﷻ. Allahu Akbar! Why do we not fear him? Is our love for Allah just words and no action? May Allahﷻ protect us! And shedding tears is the most effective way of putting out the fires of Hell. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to put it in words. Cry your heart out to Allāhﷻ, because the thing is, even if you don’t understand it yourself, Allah does. Indeed, "whether you conceal what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah will know it. He knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth. Allah is powerful over everything." [ Aal-Imran | 3:29] Indeed, imagine a single teardrop that occurs whilst you’re repenting. Just one single teardrop, that rolled from your eyes down to your cheeks whilst you begged Allāh for forgiveness for your sins. Imagine that this one drop of water, was enough for Allāh ﷻ to extinguish all of the fire and torment that was awaiting you for the sins that you committed. We just have to repent with sincerity. Surely, Allah ﷻ loves to forgive. You know, every tear that falls from your eyes in repentance to Him makes your heart feel lighter, happier.Istighfaar can do that. It raises you in rank even more than when you first fell. And his mercy is greater and ever nearer to the one who comes to him with a repentant heart. So repent and allow your heart to blossom. Subhan'Allah! Lately, I read a quote: "I know of no better love story than that of a forgiving Rabb and a repentant slave." Also, you don't have to tell anyone that I cried in the love of Allāh ﷻ or I please him in alone or anything. When you love someone, you hide it. I know, love can't stay hidden for long. People around you get to know about it through your actions. But just don't express it to others with your own tongue. Yk!
However, don’t allow your emotions to overwhelm you into falling into the traps of Shaytaan. causing you to drift away from your deen, your beloved. Keep your head up and cope in beneficial ways. Sit with the Quran and recite or listen to recitations, get up and pray and make your sujood longer than usual. Find comfort in Ibaadah and know that Allāh ﷻ knows and Allāh ﷻ does not burden a soul more than it can bear. Trials and afflictions are to improve us and make us stronger. Think back on the difficult times in the past? Did you not come out stronger and wiser? Patience is key. Hold onto the rope of Allah with patience and aim for his mercy and love, which eventually leads you to Paradise. In-Sha-Allah! "Fa Inni Qareeb": 'I am near. I respond to the call' - Allāh ﷻ guarantees that he will respond to the one who calls. Subhan'Allah! How foolish of us to think that he won't respond to our supplications. "Na'auzubillah!" (We seek refuge in Allah.) Also, if someone doesn't have anyone to speak to, pour your heart out in front of your lord, may it be in Tahajjud. Subhan'Allah! Talk to Allāh ﷻ, your beloved. He is the "Al-Wali" (the Protective Friend) of those who believe. Heﷻ surely will turn the darkness of your life into light. May Allāh ﷻ grant us all patience, self-control, and strength. May Allahﷻ honour us and not humiliate us in this world and especially in the hereafter. May Allahﷻ cure all of our illnesses, our distresses, our pains and grant us the best of healing. May Allah ﷻ replace our anxieties, our worries, our fears, our depression and our problems with peace, contentment and barakah! "Allahumma inni as'aluka hubbaka, wa hubba man yuhibbuka, wal-'amalalladhi yuballighuni hubbaka." (O Allah! I ask for your love, the love of those who love you, and deeds that will cause me to attain your love.
Ameen allahumma ameen!✨

What makes a slave approach Allah? How can we understand that Allah loves us?
What makes slaves approach Allah is a sincere belief and obeying Allah’s commands and prohibitions.
In Islam, the most important thing after belief is prayer (salah). The most important thing in prayer is the peace of the heart and tadil al-arkan. The Prophet (pbuh) states the following in a hadith:
“A slave is closest to his Lord when he is in prostration (sajdah).” (see Muslim, Salah 215. Abu Dawud, Salah 148)
“Then do ye remember Me; I will remember you. Be grateful to Me, and reject not Faith.”(al-Baqara, 2/152)
It is understood from the verse above that if a Person loves Allah, Allah will love him. If a person shows respect to Allah and shows his respect by obeying Him, he will attain Allah’s love and appreciation.
As a matter of fact, according to a narration, the Prophet (pbuh) stated the following:
“If a person wants to learn his value in the eye of Allah, he should look at Allah’s value in his eye. Allah values a person as much as a person values Him.” (Hakim, 1/671)
Valuing Allah becomes manifest through obeying Him. A person’s good creed, good worship, high ethics, good manners and good intentions show how he values Allah.
In fact, it is a command of our religion to love Allah more than anything else. The way of loving Allah is to love the Prophet (pbuh), who lives in the way that Allah loves, and to be on His way.
Thus, the sign showing that we love Allah and that Allah loves us is to obey (follow) the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), His Messenger.
As a matter of fact, the following is stated in a verse:
"Say: If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Aal-i Imran, 3/31)
To love Allah is the highest purpose of man’s creation. Thus, it is the highest purpose that Islam leads man to. The verse above includes the following definite analogy:
If you love Allah, you must follow the Messenger of Allah. If you do not follow him, it means you do not love Allah.
If you follow the Messenger of Allah, you must live like him. Thus, it means Allah loves you.

🌷Duaas for seeking forgiveness🌷
There are many, MANY, most beautiful Duaas from the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah about seeking forgiveness from Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala
Here are only a few.
📌FROM THE QUR’AAN:
🔺1. Duaa of Adam Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam to Allaah
‎رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
“ Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Surah al Aaraaf:23)
🔺2. The duaa of the righteous
"Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (Surah Aal-Imraan:147)
🔺3. Duaa of Ibraheem Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam
‎رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ
"Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on the Day when the reckoning will be established." (Surah Ibraheem:41)
🔺4. Duaa of Nuh Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam
“My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women.” (Surah Nuh: 28)
🍃The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said:
‘Whoever sought forgiveness for believing men and believing women, Allaah writes a good deed for him for every believing man and woman.” (at-Tabrani- hasan by al-Albaani, Saheeh al-Jami’ no. 6026)
🔺5. Duaa of Yunus Alaiyhis-Salaatu was-Salaam
‎لَّا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
“There is no God but You; Glory be to You, Truly I have been one of the wrongdoers” (Surah al-Anbiyah: 87)
📌FROM THE SUNNAH
🔺1. The BEST duaa for seeking forgiveness
The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam called this duaa “syedul Istighfaar” or “The Master (the best) of prayers for forgiveness”
“O Allaah! You are my Rabb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge thefavors that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to you my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon.”
He said:
“Whoever says this during the day, believing in it firmly, and dies on that day before evening comes, he will be one of the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night, believing firmly in it, and dies before morning comes, he will be one of the people of Paradise.” (al-Bukhaari)
🔺2. The Duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Aaishah radhi Allaahu anhaa
‎اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
“O Allaah, indeed You are Pardoning, [Generous,] You love pardon, so pardon me.” (al-Tirmidhī)
🔺3. The Duaa the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam taught Abu Bakr radhi Allaahu anhu
“O Allaah! I have wronged my soul very much (oppressed myself), and none forgives the sins but You; so please bestow Your Forgiveness upon me. No doubt, You are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (al-Bukhaari)
🔺4. The duaa that we say multiple times a day in between the two sujood
‎اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَاجْبُرْنِي، وَعَافِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي، وَارْفَعْنِي
“O Allaah forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, support me, protect me, provide for me and elevate me.” (Ibn Majah, at-Tirmidhi)
🔺5. The duaa that the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said in one sitting 100 times.
‎رَبِّ اغْفِرْلِیْ وَ تُبْ عَلَیَّ اِنَّکَ اَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِیْمُ۔
“O Allaah, forgive me and accept my repentance, for You are the Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful).” (Abu Dawood and others- saheeh by al-Albaani)
🔺6. The duaa that the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam used to recite in his prayer before saying the tasleem:
‎اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَ مَا أَخَّرْتُ وَ مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَ مَا أَعْلَنْتُ وَ مَا ‎أَسْرَفْتُ وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي. أَنْتَ المُقَدِّمُ وَ أَنْتَ المُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَا أَنْتَ
“O Allah! Forgive me what I have done in the past, and what I will do in the future, and what I have concealed, and what I have done openly, and what I have exceeded in, and whatever You are More Knowing of than I. You are the One who Brings Forward, and You are the One who Delays, there is no (true) diety except You.” (Ahmad, Saheeh)
And there are MANY more.
And Allaah knows best

Okie okie so!
I have not 1, not 2, but 42 whole ass the last dragonborns! Now this is because I am planning on writing a fic where one of my Dragon Priest OCs gets gets ahold of an elder scroll? Mayhaps? And some Ithelia is involved? It's still a work in progress, but basically they(the dragon priest OC) causes a MASSIVE time wound where basically abunch of "The Last Dragons" from multiple dimensions get pulled into one! And they have to fix it before reality basically gets shattered and what not!
Like I said tho its a work in progress. 😅😅😅😅
42?!?!? LAWD. that's so many. but DRAGON PRIESTS MY BELOVED !!! that sounds so fuckin cool
fact for fact: kona's third name, sosaalkro, is composed of three dovahzul words. sos, blood; aal, may, possibility, prayer; kro, sorcerer. this is because kona/sosaalkro figured out a spell to rip people's blood out of their bodies through their pores
