cant sleep because i cant stop thinking about how the mechanic was a bit of an asshole to me for no reason when i got my car finally taken in

#adw's ramblings #'i could tell your car's been sitting for a month' yeah i wouldve moved it sooner if it could. you know. start #'the sun here drains your battery you should be able to pick it up once i charge it' that car has been #jumpstarted five times in the last week and not once has it stayed alive long enough to leave the parking spot #three of those times it died while the starter was still hooked up and on #and one of those three times the starter was the tow truck (she didnt want to go into neutral so the driver gave her a quick spark)#(it was the most pathetic sounding attempt to start i've ever heard her make)#guess what i didnt get the call to pick up my car today #i know im 5'2" and look several years younger than i am but god can you not be so condescending #and like whatever its not the only time this sort of shit will or has happened to me i know #but im already stressed about the car and im not great at sleeping to begin with so this is like the cherry on the cake #i was baking until 11:45 last night in a dorm kitchen #but i dont have milk so i can't make the muffins or quick breads i have mixes for #and guess what i need to get milk.#a working car #not that i need more baked goods im not convinced my roommate and i can make it through the cake i made before it goes bad #i'm very stressed and anxious and a little bit angry and its all just. ughhhhhhh #if you made it this far down the tags uhh here's a cookie i guess 🍪#you can imagine it's one of the ones i made yesterday #or technically the day before yesterday since it's past midnight here

I often see debates on what Jason actually listens in music, and I think we as society need more of "Jason listens almost everything, depending on his mood" flavour, actually.

The second you start talking about some mysterious "they" that are controlling society in some fashion, you are engaging in dangerous conspiratorial thinking even if you're being woke about it. "They" did not institute the 40 hour work week specifically so you would be too tired to revolt. "They" did not invent the sleek minimalist aesthetic in order to crush the spirit of art in the common people. "They" are not pushing mediocre media into the mainstream in order to poison people's critical thinking skills.

Your best case scenario after that is you talk to someone who actually knows what the fuck they're talking about and you get embarrassed because you can't answer basic questions about your own ideology because you never learned anything past "the ruling class/capitalists/politicians are making things bad and if we got rid of them the bad things would all go away!"

Your worst case scenario is obviously the woo-to-fascist pipeline and you end up believing Jews are poisoning American food supplies with GMOs in order to turn us all into beta cucks, so like . . . maybe just stop blaming "them" before you fall down that route.

Obligatory round of disclaimers: Yes, sometimes people do bad things. Be specific about exactly who is doing what instead of ascribing it to some vague group of shadowy elites. Yes, sometimes things in society are bad. Learn to identify the root causes of complex social issues instead of assuming that they're actually extremely simple to fix and we're just not doing it because of some vague group of shadowy elites. Yes, minimalism isn't for everyone. Learn that some people don't share your tastes and get the fuck over it for the love of god.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

"oil changes used to be $20 and take 20 minutes" hi I'm here to die on this hill, while I agree that $160 is too much money for an oil change, an hour or more is not too much time. working at a quick change shop is physically debilitating, the mechanics are in a giant pit or basement under the cars and they do not let them cool off before working!!! they have hot oil pouring from above their heads and then they have to stick their arms into the engine parts of a still hot car. my dad used to come home with burns up to his elbows, sometimes so bad he couldn't move his hands. oil changes need to take longer than 20 minutes, cars need time to cool down

#not to mention being in the pit means all the work you're doing is shoulder breaking arms above your head type shit #just thinking about how hard it would be to not bump into anything while your arms are literally above your head. like #the cars need to cool down
