Isn’t it just amazing, the incoherence of “F1 fans”?

They say that Lando has a weak mentality and yet when he says he’s proud of himself they call him arrogant.

They say that Oscar should be a team player and yet when he follows team orders they call him a dog.

They ridiculed Max and called him MadMax for years and yet now they encourage him to take Lando out during races.

i'm not gonna put any of the ppl who replied to me on blast but basically all the replies are like "english majors read books about human rights" and like. even when i was actively double-majoring in science i thought the stem vs humanities shit was stupid but you guys are testing me. i could write an essay about how ethics in science should be a required class for all stem majors (there wasn't even a single lecture about it!! and yet i still believe in human rights. curious) but i don't feel like it so i'll just post this instead

Team’s terrified of that answer! Win hesitated and the few words he got out could go either way - Team absolutely terrified his love is one sided. And if it’s one sided ALL HIS SAFETY DISAPPEARS. His safe space, the person he confides in, the only person he fully trusts, sleep, so much would just vanish and that’s only the “superficial” things - Win would vanish. And yeah, he wouldn’t be dead but he would be a second person who meant so damn much to Team leaving him and ripping away everything Team holds.

He’s absolutely scared to death of what is behind Win’s hesitant response. And if he’d heard a negative…Team is not alright despite what he says to Win early on in this episode. His trauma is breaking through the surface more and more each day - emotionally, mentally Team isn’t alright. He’s good at compartmentalizing things and hiding things.

Is it Win’s fault that Team is this way - No. And Win has his own demons, own insecurities, and he’s also terrified of losing Team. His fear is oddly more tangible though because he did almost lose Team in the pool and he knows how little Team thinks of his own life.

Neither is at fault or both are at fault, but stop the Team slander I swear

Tbh some days are harder than others! I like to think I’ve gotten a lot better at simply not logging on when I expect there to be those sorts of posts - also making sure that the blogs I follow are the only ones I wanna see on my tl. Sometimes, like earlier today, I just channel my energy into making gifs and only come on tumblr to post those and leave lol

Obviously, I still see stuff if I go looking in his tag or something slips thru the cracks, and some days I write out a whole rant and then delete it (it can be v therapeutic just to type your feelings, even if you never post it). Also having someone/people who I can talk to about it can be pretty helpful. Or even revisiting a Carlos thing that makes you smile! I’ll sometimes just go thru his tag on my blog and inevitably something silly he did will make me laugh and I feel (mostly) better 😂❤️

Other than that, I think just recognizing that everyone’s opinions are just that - opinions! Pro sports is one of the areas in life that people can be the most opinionated/vocal/vitriolic about online but it’s bc it inspires such passion in people. Personally, I like to channel my passion for f1 in positive ways - it makes me a happier person and it’s the whole ‘be the change you want to see’ in the fandom philosophy haha
