The Shefland’s were hospitable, a lavish house that sat near the lake where they could oversee their working people- you knew Coriolanus was pleased. They offered you a seat in their sun room, at a small, round table where they offered up Earl Grey and finger foods. Coryo and Mayor Shefland talked rebels, Peacekeepers, and other droning business, while you and the Mayor’s spouse sat obediently. 

For now. 

You placed your hand on Coryo’s thigh, simple and unsuspecting. He looked over at you, patting your hand affectionately, joining the conversation. “-For the Shefland’s.” Coriolanus snapped, taking a dangerous step towards you, towering over you. “But you don’t answer to the Shefland’s, you answer to me.” 

Your knees wobbled at his tone, eyes narrowed and jaw clenched. His hand caught your chin easily, squeezing your jaw, fingers pressing into your cheeks, pulling your gaze up to him. “You know better.” Coryo growled. “You know better, and you still behaved that way.” 

You whined, his fingers curling tighter around your face. “You know how you act for me, how I expect you to behave.” Coriolanus sneered. “And you know what happens when you don’t.” The lingering threat in his tone had you throbbing painfully between your knees.

Now this could definitely all be in my head, yes, Disney would most likely NEVER canonize or even imply heavily a queer relationship or anything lgbtq on a pre established franchise (cowards.). But there is always a chance.... deep inside the dark heart of the mouse..

Plus, with the subtle hints here and there of Red and Chloe's relationship growing, romantically or not, they are still super close and love eachother alot. Chloe is js (kinda) canonically a girl kisser who cant help but find a girl kissable (same)

And don't get me started on this movie and its obsession with love and proving how it is not "ain't it". Hello...? They set the tone of love, but i see NO person close enough to Red established for this message (other than Chloe) and if they introduce some random guy in the next movies, NO ONE would care nor would they want it unless somehow its 100x better than redcharming, but thats impossible cz wlw 4 life.

So, I went down a rabbit hole...

You know how some people theorize and joke about a three E title for Eddie's realization episode like Buck's? I personally throw that theory away because Buck's episode was a reference to the song "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered." The song I know is sung by Ella Fitzgerald, and that got me thinking if maybe they would reference another one of her songs for Eddie. Except that, upon doing some research, I discovered the original BB&B is not by her. It's a song from the musical Pal Joey, based on a novel that was also turned into a movie with Frank Sinatra. And we know Tim has no qualms of referencing media/creators more than once as seen by the s7 and s8 opening disasters.

So, this got me looking at the other songs in the show. And won't you believe this coincidence! Pal Joey has a song literally called "That Terrific Rainbow." The song is number 4 in the soundtrack. 804 is Eddie's 100th episode, which if we remember, 704 was the show's overall 100th episode and made into Buck's queer realization. 804 also follows 803 called "No place like home," a possible wizard of oz reference. (BB&B is song number seven, btw) Here's the lyrics for "That Terrific Rainbow:"

I remember you mentioned having a Mihawk playlist, and the way you manage to find songs that perfectly fit the vibes of your fics and enhance the reading experience is one of the things I love about your writing

So I was wondering if you could share some of the songs on your playlist? Or even some songs that you associate with certain characters/tropes/scenarios?

I absolutely DO have a Mihawk playlist. I share the playlist construction with another creator on Tumblr who I love, cherish and adore: @sordidmusings. We add to it as we write, recommend songs as they come to us to help with words in works.

I could get into a long, long rant about music so I will add a page break here ❤. Lots of song recs to follow for the OPLA cast so far.

I am a violinist; have been playing for 25 years this year (I AM GETTING OLD, JEEPERS CREEPERS). Music is a great, passionate love affair for me and I adore learning about songs and pieces new and old. Here are some recommendations for songs and vibes I associate with the characters and the tropes.

I never add lyrics to my fics so the readers can visualize their own favourite melodies where they see fit, but I do have tunes in mind when I write them. The only fic I've really centralised a song about is the "You Should Be Sad" Mihawk fic I wrote a while back and the Koby series I'm writing.

Sophie's Hon Vol. IV Paris Fashion Week Edition - Le Pont des Arts Appendix 🇫🇷

Remember those few romantic pictures of Sophie and Perry walking through Paris???

LE PONT DES ARTS

We didn't see this in the first few pictures made public, but Sophie and Perry had company during their Balade Parisienne on Monday, March 4th. Sasha von Bismark and Ella Richards joined our lovebirds, so it really was a double date!

The two couples had lunch at Le Voltaire restaurant:

Then they walked through the banks of the Seine . . . .

. . . . Until they reached le Pont des Arts, a pedestrian bridge that has an international reputation as the bridge of romance, famous for the Love Locks, now replaced by Love Locks stickers.

And lot happened on le Pont des Arts . . . .

Perry's hand on Sophie's, Sophie's head on Perry's shoulder . . . . These kids will kill me one of these days 😍

Then Sophie wanted to be chased:

After le Pont des Arts, we all know what happened next, they sat on a bench, chatted happily and laughed with Sasha and Ella, and then they walked back to their hotel with their arms around each other while Perry kissed Sophie's head and she wore his green jacket. . . .

Oh, to be young and in love . . . . in Paris 💕

But really, they basically are like that couple from Savage Garden's Truly, Madly, Deeply music video, after they found each other!!!

Propaganda Under the Cut:

Into the Woods:

The embodiment of "Aren't you tired of being nice? Don't you just want to go apeshit?" but then she eventually decides that even if she's tired of being nice it's still worthwhile to try, and that doesn't mean she had to let people walk all over her

Her story is so fascinating, and she feels more realistic than other depictions of Cinderella. Most ItW characters have some fatal flaw- hers is her indecisiveness. After she goes to the ball, it isn’t a spell ending at midnight causing her to leave- it’s her fear of being discovered as a peasant. But the Prince loves her, so should she stay? But what would he do if she finds out she’s poor? But what if he wants that in a wife? But she wouldn’t fit in. But how would she know if she fits in if she doesn’t know who she is? This dilemma is what leads to her leaving her shoe on the steps of the palace and seeing if he comes back for her. But we know this story, she gets with the Prince and they live happily ever after… until act 2. The tree marking her mother’s grave has fallen down due to a rampaging giant, and she goes to mourn the loss of it. While she’s there, she learns of heartbreaking news- her husband cheated on her. Now this could lead to another example of her indecisiveness, but by now she’s grown from her last venture into the woods. She knows exactly what she needs to do and how to do it. She meets up with her companions from act 1 and comes up with a plan to kill the giant. But before this, she notices one member of the group, Little Red Riding Hood, is looking gloomy. The girl’s mother and granny had died due to the wrath of the giant, and she’s questioning her morality because she’s about to kill somebody. Cinderella, who knows about losing a mother, comforts her with the heartwrenching No One Is Alone, where she assures Red that there will always be someone looking out for her. She then runs into the Prince, and she confronts him on his infidelity. She is given the option to return to her marriage with him, but she denies and tells him to consider her “a victim of the giant.” After the giant is defeated, she moves in the with other survivors of the attack and helps our main character the Baker raise his newborn baby, as well as take care of Red and Jack. I wouldn’t consider anybody in ItW a good person- grey morality is a major theme in the show, after all- but out of the main cast, Cinderella is easily the most moral. Also she feels super aromantic so we love that for her too.

Into the woods is an incredible deconstruction of fairytales in general, and her arc is my favorite. Her story focuses on being a damsel because she doesn’t know what she wants.  She even purposely leaves her shoe so she doesn’t have to choose if the prince finds her. The show ends with her realizing that she has to have agency even if the choices she makes might be bad because that’s just part of being an adult. Also she has great songs.

SHE JUST WANTS A FUN NIGHT OUT, NONE OF THIS SUDDEN QUEENLY RESPONSIBILITY!

in this version she intentionally leaves behind the shoe because she's indecisive over whether she wants to stay at home which is familiar but horrible or go with the prince to the palace which is a whole new world for her she isn't used to at all and doesn't feel like she belongs. by leaving the shoe behind she makes it the prince's choice instead. but after she does marry him she still finds herself rather unhappy especially considering her prince is unfaithful and just all around sucks. by the end she decides to move in with a baker after leaving the prince finally finding the in between she was looking for. it's a really interesting take on her imo.

Okay we all know the movie adaptation is garbage but hear me out: I think that Anna Kendrick does a really good job of portraying her in the movie. She’s not nearly as bad as the Baker who was played by James fucking Cordon. With what she’s given, she does a really good job of portraying this version of Cinderella, who to me feels like a lost child that now as an adult is trying to figure out her place in the world. She’s indecisive but she wasn’t given the same tools in life as others to become that more confident and strong version of herself, which she finally is able to do by the end.

SHES SILLY!!! i had a huge essay but i realize now that i should probably save it for it's own post so here's a shortened version: -A huge part of her character arc revolves around realizing the prince is an asshole and she wasn't actually in love with him, but an idea of him (she's so comphet lesbian coded) -She can talk to birds and they do favors for her, but people think it's weird -She actually sometimes enjoys cleaning, when her step family isn't forcing her to do it. -Has multiple bangers, the first being On The Steps of The Palace where she basically goes "hm i think my life would be much easier and greatly improved if i just let other people decide my future for me" (aka leaving her shoe on the palace steps and letting fate decide if the prince finds her or not). The second is No One Is Alone, where she has what I would argue is one of the best solos in the entire show -Overall I think she's a really layered adaptation of Cinderella that seems like the standard kind no personality princess but is actually a really good study on romance and getting what you want and also shes a huge girlfail and we love her for that <3 ok bye Girlypop's husband cheats on her with the Baker's Wife and is told this by birds. That entire sentence is just batshit and no other Cinderella version has this. Not to mention the keep the step-sisters being blinded by said birds

Once Upon a Time:

Look. This is Season 1 episode 4. When I still watched this show. Girl is pregnant (and I guess has been for like  28 years?!?) and in trouble now. See she is Cinderella except Rumplestiltzkin has trampled all over her story by proofing away her fairy godmother. It’s not her fault her fairy tale was hijacked and then cast out in favor of a new Cinderella down the line.

I've only seen up to the first few episodes of season 4, but it really seems that she didn't get that much of a happy ending - or she did, and then it was ruined. In the flashbacks in the Enchanted Forest, it's revealed that he fairy godmother was killed by Rumpelstiltskin who helped her in return for her firstborn, so, after her marriage, they decide to help Snow White capture Rumpel once she's pregnant. During all of this, her husband (Thomas) goes to a well to fetch water - and then disappears. I'm currently making my way through season 4 and I have very little faith that they'll ever explain why he just disappeared. Then, in Storybrooke, she's alone, heavily pregnant, and desperate enough to steal. In the end, she's reunited with Thomas/Sean Herman and has her baby, and she's seen on a night out with Red Riding Hood and Snow White where Sean proposes, but I think the fact that her happy ending isn't as happy as people think it is fascinating. Since I've not finished watching all of them, it might be best to take someone else's propaganda, since they might know more than me.

She's an underrated Cinderella who in our world is a pregnant young woman abandoned by everyone and who tries to preserve her relationship with her boyfriend (the prince charming in their original story) who isn't sûre he's ready to be a father but who loves her deeply and decides to finally be the man she deserves. Also she saves her step sister from her step mother six seasons later

This is River, Song's sister. She has a little grey stripe on her back. She isn't a cuddler at all. She rather licks me than me picking her up or petting her, which is okay. She is a grey and white husky, not that much of that remains.

This is Leona, my momma. She takes care of four babies of her own and four babies of her sister Lotus who died after c section. She is a supermom and quite cuddly.

Part 2:

"I always thought Alistar loved his father," Ella stated.

"Excuse me?" Carolyn asked. "All John did was torture that poor boy... mentally AND physically, " Carolyn defended.

"Yes well the memories of what he did to me haunt me still," Ella replied.

"My main focus is saving my son. I couldn't do it before. I gave up. Left him in the hands of a monster and I've paid the price for that, young Queen. I'm not squandering your experiences, but there's more to him that you never knew," Carolyn stated.

"Wait.... Ella," Mia started. "..... mother," she muttered.

Ella's head perked up. "Mia.... where's papa?" She asked.

The girls took off running, their friends following behind.

Ella and Mia stopped at their father's door before looking at one another.

"Darling?" Elias asked as he placed a hand on Ella's shoulder.

Ella took a. Deep breath before opening the door.

Ella's father stood by the door, staring at the window, tears in his eyes.

Ella looked on, as did Mia.

The wind blew in, the brown hair of a younger woman being blown gently as her freckled features shown confusion.

Ella was breathless as the gentle sound of her mother's song made its way into her head.

"Uh.... who are all of you?" The woman asked.

"Clarissa?" Jacob asked as he looked at his dearly departed wife.

Clarissa looked at him, an eyebrow raised as she got closer. She looked into his bright blue eyes as her mouth fell open.

"Jake?" She asked gently as she ran her fingers over his grey beard and aged skin.

"M-mom?" Ella spoke, her eyes cloudy.

Clarissa turned to her, looking at her as if looking into her soul.

"Ella?" Clarissa asked with a small tearfelt smile.

"Mama!" Ella cried out as she hugged Clarissa tightly.

When they pulled away Clarissa was met with the blue eyes of her younger daughter. Who she had never gotten the chance to meet.

Mia looked down, scared that her mother may not have wanted her.

Clarissa raised her daughter's chin with her finger as she looked at Mia.

"Mia..... my baby," Clarissa whispered before hugging her youngest daughter who had tears streaming down her face.

Meanwhile~

Alistar sat in the dark familliar dungeon, confused as to what was happening.

The door opened.

"Come. We need to speak about your failure," a voice spoke.

Alistar stood up and walked behind his father until his father sat on the tattered broken down throne that had been worn down by the abandoned plants.

"You've failed. You died. And by a commoner's hand," John stated, his voice echoing through the room.

"I am... no longer the person I was.... the person you shaped me into... I won't be that person... not anymore," Alistar replied.

John stood up and walked toward his son, grabbing him by the jaw and yanking him up.

"We still have time to correct your mistake, my son," John hissed before dropping Alistar back down.

Alistar held his jaw in his hand gently, tears brimming his eyes at the horrors he thought he had long since gotten rid of.

"Morellia is weak. Being ruled by a woman. They don't stand a chance against me," John smirked as he sat back on his throne.
