Twenty years ago the good people of Gametalk's Fire Emblem forum told me about this super cool thing called roleplaying. It's like writing fanfiction but you write alongside others. There was even another part of the website dedicated to it. Fandoms went:

Jumped ship away from anime/ video games to the X-men/ Marvel fandom.

2010/2011 was dragged to tumblr via Maurader's Era Harry Potter rps with at-the-time-girlfriend. (it's so freaky that some of my students are into this now and I'm like they can never know I was in these trenches once only to frequently comment on their Wolfstar obsession.)

Discovered The Mortal Instruments, Teen Wolf, and Once Upon a Time. There was a lot of crossovers between those three fandoms.

2015. Broke up with girlfriend. Had to find a different fandom because she very much got our fandoms in the divorce.

A friend on Discord asked Have you ever seen Hazbin Hotel?

I said no. He sent me a link to the pilot. I did not watch it.

Went back to the YuGiOh RPC.

Drama happened.

Tried to stick it out but it just wasn't the same.

Eight months after friend sent me the link to Hazbin Hotel, a combination of hearing Phantom by Natewantstobattle on my Pandora station and watching a video on Tumblr Sexy Men reminded me that I should maybe give that thing my friend sent a watch.

November 7th 2021- Initial response: This is cute. I like it! Where's the rest of it? ... HOW DOES THIS THING WITH ONE EPISODE HAVE SO MUCH OF A FANDOM?

Can't stop thinking about Hazbin Hotel.

Ask some people if they've ever heard of it.

Get told people on Tumblr hate Hazbin Hotel and it's crazy triggering to some people and to not let anyone know I like it.

November 8th: Can't stop thinking about Hazbin Hotel.

Make a blog for Alastor.

Get scared.

Do nothing with it for three weeks.

Can't stop thinking about Hazbin Hotel for three straight weeks.

Say 'fuck it' and promo blog.

Do not get burned at stake. Make a Cherri Bomb sideblog. Then an Arackniss sideblog. Icy blue peacock drops. Adam is revealed and I lose my shit over the Adam-and-Lilith mythology. Blitz continues to be a mood. Sexy fox drops. Show airs. Friend says you should write Val. I say haha, nah. I learn that moths squeak.

I've been here for three years. I can't think of anything that has brought me nearly as much consistent joy as this damn demon show.

(I don't know if I should dub November 7th or 8th as Hazbin Day because I watched it for the first time on the 7th (and remember everything about that day so vividly) but the brain rot really got me on the 8th.

Preferred roleplay type: Generally paragraph/multi paragraph. I love it when little one line dash commentary becomes full on paragraph / multi paragraph works of art.

For the general mood of threads? I feel like I dabble in a mix of things, but... I am fully aware that angst / hurt/comfort are my Bat Signal and if someone posts something in that vein I'll eyes emoji and drop everything to answer it.

Pet peeves & dealbreakers: Guilt tripping / vagueing for replies, vagueing that someone doesn't rp a character correctly... vagueing in general.

Dealbreaker? Acting as if you're THE portrayal of a character, not tagging common triggers. Trying to stir up drama.

If you're reading this, don't worry, you do not do this (but hello, fellow anxiety-ridden internet dweller.) After the back-to-back Fire Emblem/ YuGiOh debacle I... block religiously.

Best time to write: Weekends and... school year related holidays. I'm a middle school teacher.

Are you like your muse? Honestly? Out of all the ones I write here, the one I have the most in common with is Blitz. I am self-destructive / self-loathing, cut myself out of pictures, frequently tell my plant-loving bird-coded partner that they're outrageously out of my league... I am a disaster.

Fun Questions to Be Asked

What are three things you'd say shaped you into who you are?

There are many things, of course, that have shaped me into who I am. Narrowing it down to three things is tough, but I think I have it.

Anime/Manga

This one feels like a given, but truly, I don't know where or who I'd be without anime/manga in my life. Two of the earliest shows I remember watching as a child were Sailor Moon and Pokemon. The stars truly aligned for me as I was the exact age demographic for them. I cannot tell you how much I adored those shows as a child. They were everything to me and opened me up to a world of TV I still watch and cherish. They remain cornerstones to my friendships and I would not change that for anything.

Video Games - particularly Pokemon and Fire Emblem

Adding onto my prior point, it only seems natural to talk about my love of video games. As stated, Pokemon was one of my earliest shows as a child, but one I didn't stick around with for too long. I fell off watching Pokemon midway through the Johto arc as I grew up. However, what remained with me were the video games.

Like any child, when Pokemon first came out I wanted to play the video games due to my neighbour receiving Pokemon Red as a birthday gift. Within a month my parents bought me Pokemon Yellow and thus my world opened to video games.

However, I have to credit the continual love of video games not just to my Gameboy and GBA games but also my neighbour. While I was stuck with handheld consoles, he also had a NES and later a GameCube. This is where my love of other video games such as Kirby, Super Smash Bros., Pokemon Stadium, and Harvest Moon grew.

But nothing made more of an impact on me than Fire Emblem. I still remember sitting in his basement, watching him play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. I remember us restarting over when a character died because that was when FE only had Traditional Mode.

Now, I am certain that I would have found FE eventually, but it's this memory of me and my neighbour that sits at the core of me and makes these games extra special. No matter which FE game I play and love, at the end of the day there is always a part of me that longs to return to that basement with my neighbour and play FE PoR and RD.

My Neighbour

This one is going to get a little heavy, but I'll try to keep it vague.

Above all, the neighbour I grew up with is someone I'll always treasure and hold dear in my heart. There are too many carefree, happy memories with him. I already mentioned video games, but our lives intersected beyond a shared interest. We did almost everything together and spent countless hours in each other's presence. The secrets I know about him and the secrets he knows about me are vast and endless.

I also have some sad memories. I can still see the saddest one in my mind. The regret I feel now because I was too young to fully understand, but we all were at that time.

These memories all hold a special place in my heart and without a doubt shaped me into who I am today.

4. What's an inside joke you have with your family or friends?

I have so many inside jokes but one of my top favourite inside jokes of all time is "Beaky/Beak Boy". I am still not over the fact I was so confident that my mom would remember the name Giovanni (Fire Force). Instead what I got was her only remembering him by the name "Beaky/Beak Boy".

11. What do you consider to be romance?

In general I think romance is when you do and share things you love with the people you love. There doesn't need to be some grand or expensive gesture. So long as it's done out of admiration and love, that's romantic to me. It's the "I was thinking of you messages" or the "I want to cook/bake for you". It's the hugs and snuggles at the end of the long day. It's the considerate "Do you want me to do this for you?". It's the teasing and the jokes. Or it's the "I know had an argument but that's just what happens in relationship and at the end I love you always".

Acceptance, love, and admiration: that's what's romance!

However if I'm talking about dating specifically I think nothing is more romantic than when you're doing a fun activity together. Things like going to galleries, museums, or a play/live theatre, cooking/baking together, and going to some fun public event are all optimal date activities to me.

24. What's one thing you're proud of yourself for?

I'm proud of myself for working up the courage all those years ago to post my fanfiction to AO3. I remember being so nervous and worried at the beginning but it's been one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

30. What's one thing that never fails to make you happy/happier?

Book shopping with friends. I think that's the best activity to do in the world with those you cherish. It's also a top tier date idea for me like "Oh, let's have lunch and then book shop" uh, marry me??

Well. It happened. I finally decided to make a side blog where I put all of my stories, fanfic drawings and other various nonsense that I've held onto for over 2 decades. These stories, and in particular, my OCs, are extremely personal too me and as much as I always wanted to share them with the world, I never had the courage to do it.

Between having zero confidence and severe OCD I never have actually completed any story or goal before. However I've seen a lot of art blogs on tumblr that share their incomplete works as well as completed without judgement so I'm hoping mine will be half as well received.

The blog is called This Is Me. (thisisme16) I don't know how to link it, sorry. I called it that because these stories and characters are a big part of myself that no one has ever really seen before. Hence.

What can you expect from the blog?

- Tons of stories in various states of completion depending on how strong my hyperfixation on it at the time is.

- Some drawings. I am trying to learn to draw because I think it would be awesome to make fanmade comics some day.

- Some OCs mixed with characters from various Fandoms. As well as a semi-self insert character. I've been self inserting into stories all my life, and my self- insert character is so intergrated into the other OCs lives at this point that I simply can't imagine one without the other. If that's not your cup of tea, by all means you don't have to view the blog. But to the rest of you, please try to keep an open mind. These OCs were basically my only friends growing up and even now.

- Fandoms that I am into include but not limited to; Pokemon, Digimon, Legend of Zelda, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Yu-gi-oh, Sailor Moon, Avatar the Last Airbender, Once Upon a Time, old school MCU, BBC Sherlock, some Fire Emblem.

This is extremely scary for me, but partly exciting too. I need to shake up my life and stop hiding in my shell. Maybe no one will even look at this blog, but regardless I want to do it anyway.

I want to thank the tumblr community for being the weird and wonderful mess of neurodivergence that I can feel safe enough to take such a big step in. Fingers crossed that my courage will continue to hold out and I can share some hopefully fun and interesting things.

Good morning! I want you to meet my pet Lucina ☺️ I adopted her about 2 years ago, and she’s named after the Fire Emblem character, Lucina. She’s half Siamese and half Tabby so she’s a very vocal cat with her chirps and meows. She helps me relax and reminds me to take breaks when I write. Sometimes she’ll take a peak at what I’m typing. Her favorite hobby is making biscuits on blankets like the one you see in the picture. She loves Snoopy.

Also I’m pretty sure she’s a fan of Trigun, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon. Whenever I have any of those shows on she’ll watch the screen attentively and her eyes follow the characters. She says hi and says you are in for a treat this weekend with new posts ☺️🐱

Round 4 will be posted between Monday, March 4th and Wednesday, March 6th. It will be split between 4 sets, each set being posted on a different day. There will be a total of 16 participants (4 participants in each individual set) divided in 8 polls (2 polls in each individual set). By the end of Round 4, 8 participants will make it to Round 5, the Quarterfinals, while the rest will be sent to the Shadow Realm where their souls will be tormented for eternity. All polls will be queued between 12 PM EST and 1 PM EST of the day it has been assigned. Each poll will last a week.
