i'm sorry for being so inactive these days ;;;;

early this year i had an accident and i have currently a busted hand & arm and knee.... aaaand a broken rib in combination with a cough. 😭 i see that i missed some DMs or mutuals, i love seeing on my dashboard, creating a new blog. i have super low social energy due to constant pain and lack of sleep. T _T sorry if it seemed like i was ignoring anyone. 🙇‍♀️

Here’s my take on the whole audio books vs. reading:

Oral tradition of storytelling predates written ones by millennias, and honestly, which one you like is just a personal preference.

The actual difference is

when listening, you have no idea how to write characters’ names

when reading, you have no idea how to pronounce characters’ names

Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Not saying it's a bad thing, the world needs more kindness and encouraging deliberate, thoughtful gestures of this, great. It's just some of what's suggested seems such a low bar. Offering to help someone carry heavy bags of shopping, opening a door, this should be just be running in the background. Have we really got to the point where we need to be told to do this stuff?

I guess whatever makes a drop of difference is good.

a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as I’d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, won’t instantly destroy your professor’s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh won’t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because they’re not irreparably broken. what you’ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. don’t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up

right now it’s almost halfway through 2023, and 2024 is an election year in the US. I have started to see a growing proliferation of posts suggesting that there is no difference between the republican and democratic parties--the exact same kind of posts I saw an awful lot of before the last major election here. I am unfollowing folks who post or reblog these sort of posts, as I consider these posts to be fascist propaganda framed as leftist discourse, designed to suppress anti-fascist votes and voters.

I feel so fucking lucky to have been shaped into the person I am today by One Direction. 2024 me does not exist as I am today, without them. How lucky am I to have be changed by them. I’m here today on this tumblr, with all of you- friends, mutuals, strangers- because of them. One Direction will always be woven into the fabric of my memories, experiences and dreams. That is a truth that cannot change. I am so so lucky to have loved them and be loved by so many of you because of them. Wow.
