For this year's Global Game Jam, I decided "Hey why don't I solo dev an entire visual novel in Renpy with absolutely 0 prior knowledge in coding?"

And so I did! Presenting A Pound of Flesh (part 1), a short vn where you play as Agatha, a girl who begins working at a quaint butcher shop.

It's around 20 mins play time, and if there's interest I'll most likely add on more sections as well! Right now you can only play up to the end of week 1 because I only had 36-ish hours to code and draw the entire thing. Let me know what you guys think if you play it!

The Mothership RPG has spawned a surprising side delight in their series of embroidered mission patches. This is the first that accompanied the release of A Pound of Flesh. I kind of wish I wore a jumpsuit, because this would look mighty fine on the sleeve.

Hello! i just read "a pound of flesh" and it changed my life. i will never be the same again. that was a masterpiece. im emotionally devastated. it was one of the best things ive ever read. i want to marry this fic. it was amazing. i want to take this fic, cook it, and eat it. i want to . just. Okay first of all: yes.

Second of all: I always felt as if the Hungry Ones catch 22 is not really a catch 22. You are already dead. It cannot truly revive that with which has already passed. Like coming into being, you are slowly decaying once you’ve taken your first breath. It’s what happens after you’ve taken your last breath. It cannot give you life after you’ve reached your end. You’re on even more borrowed time than before.

But instead of aging over time, it molds you from the inside out, and you have to cut these pieces off to preserve this borrowed time. But how much can you cut off, how much mold and rot can be ripped out until you are but a sliver of being?

But the Hungry One is not evil. It is not villainous. It is not the Devil of the story. The Hungry One is just that. Hungry. That is their job, to consume. To eat. Rot and decay is the natural order of life.

The people who use their power can be evil. They can be malevolent. But the Hungry One’s job isn’t to stop people from using its power for evil. It’s job is to eat. And sometimes a person comes around and they bargain. They ask for more time.

And It grants it’s wish. On the condition that your time is exactly as many times you can carve out of your body. This is the condition. This is the punishment. The Hungry One is not kind or Nice. It doesn’t grant wishes and wants. It wants. So you, too, must want.

And then there is a child. She is hungry and ravenous. She wants. She wants. She wants. It recognizes that want. It knows that hunger. She does not ask It for anything. This small 11 year old, dead and hungry.

The Hungry One suddenly feels giving. It can’t give much, but Karna looks at It with Hungry Eyes and It feels generous. It touches the center of her chest, and sees want and revenge and hunger.

Her wish is granted, though she does not plead. She does not ask It for what she wants. Karna is proud. Karna will carve out a place for herself. The Hungry One recognizes that. The Hungry one likes that.

It tells her that he can bring her back. It tells her that she can live. There’s a catch. But Karna doesn’t care. She doesn’t give a shit. She wants to live. Even if it’s only long enough to get revenge, she wants to live. Karna understand the Hungry One in a way no one has ever been able to before. It grants her that wish. It almost regrets it means she will rot slowly, over time.

Karna doesn’t care. At the very least she will get revenge. And if she lives past that? That’s cool, too.

Regulus gulped but did not quiver when he quietly answered, “I was never nice, James. Never.”

A Pound Of Flesh

Another one of my Iterator ocs, and is the eldest sibling of Eden's Paradise. APOF is fucked up, both because of Rot and some mental stuff. She's pretty much evil for the sake of being evil. Not much is known about her, other than she is malicious and WILL go out of her way to harm any Iterator who comes across her. Even her own siblings weren't safe.

Also did I mention she's got some sort of pseudo-cult? Anyways, just avoid contact with her in any possible way.

Simone is one of my favorite survivors, what are you going to draw her as?

Simone! I have drawn her placeholder in my sweet religion animatic, but she’s a zebra! I have a few reasons for this;

Reason 1; her game. Pounds of flesh was set up to be unfair towards Simone, pitting her against a man who quite literally has more flesh than her to give. Despite this, she cuts her arm off and wins.

Herbivores in general tend to be less equipped to survive John’s games as they lack the teeth and claws that are designed to rip and tear flesh. In pounds of flesh however, Simone has a secret advantage. Her hooves. Made of keratin, they’d cause her arm to weigh much more than a non hooved animal, giving her own advantage that she just has to use her brain to take advantage of

Reason 2; her personality. Simone is known as one of the most defiant survivors against jigsaw’s method, and would be the hardest to indoctrinate into the cult. She is also very outspoken about this towards Hoffman and the survivors group.

Now onto the animal.

Zebras are known to be very aggressive, stubborn equines; this is the reason they haven’t been domesticated. They are too unpredictable to tame.
