do people on this website post tierlists for fun idk does anyone care about my opinions on pokemon and miku probably not but I'm finally giving into the urge to be really annoying about music (not a music analyst) (doesn't know how to identify a lemotif) (Was in High School Marching Band)
Anyway gonna be real fuckin annoying about this one its called i talk about rankings that are mostly personal bias
Let's just go in release order lol
Songs linked in their "titles" (video embed limit is. less than 18)
DECO*27's Volt Tackle
ok so i have a confession. when this song came out, I knew it was going to end up pretty low on the list lol
Deconina (i can't. type that every time guys) is one of my favorite producers and almost every song he makes I nod my head at and go "yeah. that's a banger." But. BUT. He's started mixing his harder rock styles with his poppier hip hop styles and it comes to a head in this song. The bridge is really really distracting lol, feels like a different song and tone entirely from the kind of intense, battle like ferocity of the main part to a cutesy pop chant... It has a purpose, I'm sure, but there's something too dissonant about it for me to like.
The like, rest of the song is Deconina at his Deconina-est, I love the cute take on love (as he always does) with a pokemon flavoring... The visuals are also quite cute and fitting. It's really solid, but that one point holds it back from Funky Fresh, which is my baseline Very Solid.
Electrical Forecast by inabakumori
The second song, by a producer I don't follow nearly as closely as Deco. Uhh I did listen to lagtrain as homework before this and yes it bangs. It's always nice to see people using people other than Miku and Kaai Yuki actually has a real solid appeal to me.
This is a song that slaps. It bangs, even. I don't know enough about inabakumori to comment on its relevance to their personal stylings or themes but we were still in the romance period with pokemon puns and tie ins so I was already tempted to put it higher in the list. In actuality, every song does an excellent jobs integrating game sounds and puns so no extra points are available for that stuff lol
Taking the idea of catching pokemon is always dangerous, I think, because pokemon fans aren't really here to catch things, we're mostly interested in battles and the journey with our faves, not completing the pokedex (because it's hard, and kind of chore) at least, to me. This song feels like a journey through the tall grass, scouring the lands to find pokemon... I just like the inabakumori style man. It gets points for getting on the playlist, but not really speaking to me.
Mitchie M's What Kind of Future
Silly songs.......... my weakness and Mitchie M's strength oh no.........
Yeah Mitchie M really plays to his strengths, using cute visuals and nonstop puns to ooze a charm you can only get from haplessly indulging in the most whimsical of vibes. It was also quite surprising how well their TL team did with all the puns given some of them barely work lol.
"I love them all" is the type of pokemon fan I am, so that might also help explain why two of those songs are up so high...
Pinocchio-P Kills You with The Pokemon Inside My Heart
yeah i cried what're *you* gonna do about it huh
Im a pinocchio-p fan. I don't always like everything he puts out, but when he really hits its insane how hard he does.
1) i fucking love his little pinomikus... having them all in a costume is so fucking cute they're little slit eyed freaks and by far my favorite trademark a producer's ever had lol My favorite. is lapras...
2) This isn't the first song to fuck me up by him lol 2:30 Life Remaining also damaging as hell, so it wasn't surprising to see him go for a quieter angle but man when its something you grew up with, a nostalgia you could relate to, an experience you lived, its way worse. It's such a soft song, with an upbeat backbone, I've no idea how he got the music to scream "nostalgia" so hard but the reverberating "aah"s are so cool too...
Anyway this song would be the best song if I weren't horrendously biased. It should honestly be up their with the top two but it was funnier to keep it in the crying tier.
Battle! by cosMo@Bousou-P
I honestly did not like this song all that much when it first came out, but that was almost certainly because it was right after Pinochhio-P's lol
The high concept of people in the comments talking about some sort of Miku AI champion that was tired of winning got me more into the song now that I'm not directly comparing it to a song that spoke way more to me, there's just something a little unhinged about it in the way that cosMoBousou does well with machine intelligence/the meaning of digital media.
He also plays p well into his strengths with the breakcore fast bpm lol this song screams GO GO GO! I think it makes total sense why he'd go for a battle theme, and I really like the way the pokemon sfx are incorporated into the backing... drums? Unfortunately, I like battle songs not that much, and the lyrics leave a little to be desired because the story's a bit... confusing lol Maybe it's cheap of me to prefer nostalgia baits over whatever strange original story cosMo's thought up but that's how it is.
A little evil with Kasamura Tota's I'll Fly in the Sky with You
Another producer I've not heard of before! No one talked about this song either, in my circles, I actually missed it until I came back for Giga and Jin's. I passed over it on first watch, put it on in the background and said "yeah, that's a nice soft song," thinking nothing of it. Boy was I fucking WRONG
edit (not an edit I'm writing this all in one sitting), I LIED I *have* heard this guys stuff before!! Araki covered one of his songs lol ok I'm getting the sense their skillset is Violently Sad Songs and goddamn are they good at em.
Anyway this song's MV is adorable and uses mudkips status as an adorable fave as a double shot directly to your sadglands as it tells a story of a pokemon that stays the same to continue to fly with its friend. Its fucked up, and a little evil, and totally took me by surprise because I was a fool. Little Guys Deserve Love Too is something you don't always remember as pokemon fan and it takes the implication of evolution seriously its really some pokemon Mystery Dungeon type heartstring pulling that got me good.
Musically I love the quiet backing that really lets the vocals (the story) breathe, its a musical narrative. The back and forth between Luka and Miku is done really well, plus having it based entirely around an existing pokemon song really helps it achieve its heart punching effectiveness.
Also I have a horrible bias toward piano please don't look up at the tierlist and where I placed Marasy
(Hilarious it got a kids rating on youtube btw. Another youtube kids L, probably)
We couldn't draw miku at a fucked up angle this time guys: Giga's Gotchu!
lol yeah they had to sanitize this one's visuals a little bit, probably worked with a different artist than usual... It does show, a bit, in the kind of bouncy visual style Giga's used to being flatter and less 3D than usual. This leaves the music video a little lesser than the others that move... I also don't know if I've ever been a huge fan of Giga's recent animation style.
In terms of actual song: it's good! Giga puts his swing on classic pokemon motifs and it feels very him, with a nice mix of hip hop beat and electrical edge.
But uh, remember how I said before "catching pokemon is the weakest element of pokemon"? That point stands here, especially since the song itself is just simple and peppy. It's stylish as hell but doesn't give me a sense of journey or scouring like inabakumori's.
Sorry, but someone had to be last.
Jin's Secretly Miku the whole time: Juvenile
Trans miku real or whatever
I'd like to say this is the first full on deadass whole animated story. I should be right. Also I don't think I've followed Jin since Kagepro lol (but I did hear Neo, and I did scream really loudly at it!)
dude the eevee is drawn so fucking cute im rhhdghh im not even a huge eevee fan (too mammal) but man when he do the lil paw to cheer up their trainer it got me. I also really like the compassion of the story, the trainers just want to support each other even though they fight... It's like, that's kind of what pokemon is, it's not necessarily about winning, even if Every Voice on the internet Ever (including myself) tells you otherwise. Turns out all you need from a friendly rival to make them better is to lose against them and not let them speak (im joking.......)
I just realized I never looked up the lyrics, actually, but I totally got the emotions through the fantastic MV and the general upswings of the music. It's a bold swing to take a trainer through their whole journey, but both songs that try this hit it justtt right, actually. Building yourself back up after a loss is like, The pokemon story, because turns out you can't win them all. Plus it takes time to focus on the mundanity of the pokemon journey, the stuff you don't really think about in game but is the meat of any fanfic... depicting hanging out w your pokemon is a huge bonus points.
The music combined with the visuals made me cry what can I say, I don't cry easily so it deserves it.
Syudou's I'm a Ghost Type
I honestly don't know a whole lot about Syudou, not to say I don't know who he is, i do, i play pjsekai, but none of his "popular" songs really captured me.
I can mostly say the same for this one lol This is the first one where I have to actually explain the Funky Fresh tier: it means they play well to their strengths but they don't have a whole lot of staying power to me. This is where my pickiness starts kicking in, they just weren't swanky enough to make the cut.
The lyrics and visuals scream joy of ghost types though, I really dig how much energy is in the song... I think it's just personal preference for electric beats that puts the song the highest in Funky Fresh.
BIPPA!! Wonderful Opportunity with Go! Bidoof Group!
Wonder Opp never fails me they got my back every time. I was hoping for something silly happy peppy fun and oh boy did i get it. A feverish dedication to a silly not strong pokemon, a basic rat you can get in any route that the pokemon company loves making fun of, BIPPA!!
All these dumb mfs so relatable to the Len that wants to evolve for utility, to the Rin that loves him as he is, to Miku who thinks all pokemon have their appeals... I've seen some people say WonderOpp's songs border on just speaking over beat, but I don't really see what's wrong with that. The comedic timing is solid (Len getting shot down is so funny) and the setup is inherently funny, a team of bullies that go after Only Bidoof. Team Rocket but Bidoof.
Joy radiates from this song and who doesn't want to hold a pokemon in front of your friends and go "Look!! this is my favorite child!!!" I think that's the real essence of pokemon. Pick your faves and then be really annoying about them. That's why this is the best one.
Huh? Muddled... (Weird title... it's sfx, really) by Kuriyama Yuri
This project got me digging around in new producers libraries, quite fun. In this one I found Jitterbug! I love a good Meiko producer... But I don't particularly like their style, sorry to say.
I do like it though! It's fun, spooky and very stylized! I love the rhythm it gets into and the expressions on the people, even if I'm not entirely sure what's going on besides some good ol fasioned spooks. I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is make a spooky ghost house experience song. Just doesn't appeal to me enough to rank it higher.
Orangestar's Encounter
Look. This is pure bias. But I also think it's good!
I've gone on record (no record. just talking to friends lmao) saying Orangestar's music feels like running alongside a ocean during a sunshower. All their music is kind of same-y but by god does it hit that niche so good for me, using vocaloids to go way above what any human would sound good. In this song the synthwave really elevates it to something I'd recommend a non-Orangestar fan, it really carries you up, gives the song a rising energy... just like Lugia.
Breath is a key of Orangestar's songs, besides being very high, there's a lot of running vocals and held notes, meaning singing them is again, very difficult (if you're trying to copy miku) and I think the breathlessness of the vocals and synth really works with the concept of a legendary encounter. It's always so cool when you finally run into the thing on the box... and in the surrounding media, everyone always oohs and aahs. The lyrics support this, but I'm not very good at reading, so I actually just skim them to make sure they aren't total nonsense lol
Eon Ticket by Marasy
I saw somewhere an author's comment about this song, something to the effect of "I always chased Latios and Latias"... So this is just a song about your faves, just like pokemon should be. It also has Kaito, which is *my* crypton bias.
Uhh I'm always back and forth on Marasy songs, I love him as a pianist, but his compositions don't always speak to me working with the others on em. But? I think this one hits nicely. It's a little toothless still, not as emotionally impactful as those on the top, won't make me scream in excitement but I do think this is one of my favorites in a while.
Kaito and Miku... it's always nice to have duets in this Miku focused project lol. I think the Eon ticket, Latios and Latias in particular was a good pairing for Marasy's flighty fluttering piano trills and runs, they're the kind of pokemon that dash around the skies like the music does. Part of what makes me rank composers higher in these miku songs is whether they play to their strengths or not, because you're already adding the twist of subject matter, and I think this does. I also think the framing device of the newscasters is cute
Party Rock Eternity by Hachioji-P
Ahh Hachioji, another name I know and don't really listen to on purpose... Rad Dogs goes insane though an all time fave (but I say that about half the VBS commissioned songs). Maybe that's why I biased it higher, because it's a style of music I really like. A lot of bias is probably involved in this lol (poison type fan)
I like the perspective of a rocket grunt a lot, leans extremely well into the harder rock of Hachioji's natural lean, but the lyrics don't really tell us much, it doesn't quite lean hard enough into character for me to give it a funky pass... plus I find it's missing a POP that makes it appealing. It's extremely pleasant, but I can't give it a pass.
Iyowa's Journey's Prequels, Journey's Traces
Hmm, I think the only producer I know truly nothing about, didn't even really recognize a song on their page. Doesn't matter since this song's extremely cute and appealing on its own.
The button mashing making up the backing track I almost didn't like but it totally grew on me, it gives the song more life. Visually the MV compliments the cutesy subject and the wonder of a child's first pokemon. But... it's just pleasant. It suffers the same fate as Party Rock Eternity before it, there's just nothing pushing it beyond musically, likely in part because I'm not as familiar with the composer. I like songs that go somewhere, and this one stays in the same place, which doesn't make it bad, it just makes it less interesting to me.
Esper Esper, Psychic Psychic! by NayutalieN
I don't listen to a whole lot of NayutalieN's stuff outside the Rhythm Game Staples (most of which I like, at least passively), but it's enough that I know generally what I'm getting.
Musically this song doesn't stand out to me all that much, I like the rising tones during the chorus, but it actually doesn't use as many of the kind of flourishes on the top of vocals I really like about Nayutalie's tuning. The sfx in blend with the background are also really fun but for me, theming tops out anything.
When I went into the song, I wanted a cute silly fun song about psychic type pokemon that LOVED psychic types. I wanted to see them clap. And they did! There's just so many psychic types doing the classic flip back and forth dance, and isn't that, really, what makes a NayutalieN song?
Kairiki Bear's Melomeloid
So Kairiki Bear I actually spent like, a day lying in bed listening to their entire lineup on their channel lol I wanted to determine whether I liked them as a producer or if I just really liked Bug. Turned out I just really liked Bug (and venom). That's to say, I wasn't expecting something standout in this song.
I was not disappointed, but I wasn't blown away either. That's ok, I think the most important part of Kairiki Bear songs are their texture, the rhythm of the vocals mixed with the instrument. I like Bug because of its punchiness, its extremely harsh tones, and Melomeloid's are a bit softer. It's good for a song about fairy types, but it doesn't make up that loss in musicality through the melody, which makes it average to me. But! I think it really hits where fairy types lie, a cutesy "I love you" mixed with the signature sharp, kind of off tune vocals with a harsh, present beat... It screams "cute but dangerous."
A Glorious Day for Miku Yuri by EVE (it's Glorious Day)
wh what if u were a dragon type trainer and and I was a fairy type trainer and uh uh hhhhh and we were rivals............
Um ok, I just have to say, before I talk about Eve or whatever. The fact that they animate Every Miku in Voltage's art run and place them in this mikuverse where they all fight together is like, dude talk about an excellent finale. Deadass that touch alone put this to its ranking by itself.
That's not to say the music's not pulling its weight. It's Eve, and though I think is one of his weaker compositions, not being able to play into his more off beat rhythms (and having to use miku) it's still got all the bones of an extremely solid hype journey song. But to be honest, I think the music is the weakest part of Glorious Day, even if its flow is perfect for the story they're telling.
But the story..... God I do love a fully animated MV, there's just so much they put in it to make a pokemon fan happy, from the sakuga of the battle and the possible red cameo. Plus YURI!!! I love miku miku relationships I just think this one has the most potential to live in my brain rent free, so it goes up a tier. As a pokemon fan, this one's got the most for me, even if as a vocaloid fan, I wish Eve would just sing all his songs forever lol
Uh anyway thanks for listening like and comment if you want me to do this for commissioned songs for sekai i guess
#vocaloid#project voltage#I'm not tagging anything else lmao#this is a rambling post#I just like music and have opinions ok#is that so wrong.................#miku compels me#actually it was probably pokemon that compelled me#btw i already have a ranking system for sekai songs#ive been sitting on this stuff for a while#just takes a long ass time to type#typed this out instead of doing my work tbh#oops

Sitting To Know You Collection May Roundup
______________________________________________________________
Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 19 (May 6th - May 12th)
Album: Duality (2015) by Set It Off
Play Count: 3
Top 2 Tracks:
Tomorrow ft. Jason Lancaster (Track 9)
Bleak December (Track 10)
I’ve been spotty with Set It Off for the last few years and coming back to this album in particular after hearing some of the critiques, it was a little much. I’m just gonna say it, I knew every word to this whole misogynistic album. To be fair not every song is misogynistic, some of them just feature nice guy syndrome hahaha (Looking at you Bad Guy.) To be extra for real though, cause I wasn’t lying, I sang along and had fun with all of it like I was back in the summer of 2015, but I acknowledged the mess this time and that’s what made me think a little bit. It’s like watching your favorite 2000’s rom-com, you know what’s up.
Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 20 (May 13th - May 19th)
Album: Without Fear (The Complete Edition) (2020) by Dermot Kennedy
Play Count: 2
Top 2 Tracks:
Outnumbered (Track 10)
Days Like This (Track 17) - Cover
I love this man’s voice so much and that’s why I’m sad it only got 2 very choppy listens. The complete version is like 70/80 minutes long and that’s why I struggled. I randomly saw a clip of a live performance he did years ago and the love has been there ever since. Now that particular song he preformed supposedly got reworked and changed into a different song on this album and the original only lives on YouTube. I'm mad hurt on that one, however the album is still really good and I'm not letting that sour my opinion at all. It’s a little moody and hopeful, but also very questioning. Y’all know how British rain sounds lol. I haven’t listened to his latest release yet, but I still can’t recommend him enough though. Trust me when I say this is a NEED to check out.
Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 21 (May 20th - May 26th)
Album: Stay Inside (2018) by Elder Brother
Play Count: 4
Top 2 Tracks:
I Don’t Miss You (Track 7)
Battle (Track 8)
Elder Brother reminds me of fall 2019 and when I put this album on I’m just reminded of how good that moment was. (Little did I know what this album foretold.) If you need to feel comforted while you’re laying in bed or just walking around the house, this is a great choice. Tracks 6-9 are such a good run of songs that I can’t recommend them enough. I tried to pick songs that weren’t already my favorite as my top tracks so I highly recommend you check these out. If you’re unaware, look into this side project of Kevin from The Story So Far and Dan from Daybreaker, you will be pleasantly surprised. And if you are aware, listen again.
Sitting To Know Your Collection: Week 22 (May 27th - June 2nd)
Album: Moonlight (2019) by Johnnyswim
Play Count: 2
Top 2 Tracks:
Flowers (Track 7)
Lost In Translation (Track 4)
I think this series is really forcing me to listen to these library discards cause this is the fourth one it’s shot out at me. I needed to listen to them anyway but this pushes me a little bit more. I knew one song from this album previously, so I was mostly going in unaware. Not of the group though, just the album. I’m usually pretty quickly drawn to Johnnyswim, but this one had to grow on me. If I’d gotten more listens in I feel like I could be more confident in it. It’s just not that strong off those first few listens. That being said, although it’s not my favorite album of theirs it’s still pretty decent and worth checking out if you like their stuff. Soulful pop-y kind of music.
.
.
I haven't been updating the playlist that's supposed to go along with this series, but I'm changing that and will include it at the end of these updates. Will include spoilers, but thanks to checking it out anyway.
The Playlist!

🎶February 2024 Top 5s🎶
Artists
1. Chairlift - Funny story, theres a lot of music that I’ve just refused to listen to again because it reminds me of a specific time in my life. One off-limits album that I used to love is Moth by Chairlift. I randomly discovered recently that I can listen to it again without it feeling tainted so that’s exactly what I’ve been doing! I’ve had that album on REPEAT!
2. flor - One of my favorite bands since high school. I adore the lead singer’s voice so so much. It’s just really lovely. Check them out!
3. TWICE - Yay! It’s Twice! I love them! Honestly it’s been a little while since a Korean Twice release has really clicked for me but With YOU-th really really clicks. So happy! (☆_☆)
4. Liang Lawrence - honestly I don’t know a thing about her but I found her on one of those “made for you” spotify playlists. Really like unposted letters, really like the pilot, feel positively but not strongly about the rest of her songs. She did get bumped up in my streams because I know that I fell asleep with her on loop once.
5. Caroline Polachek - The deluxe edition of her latest album came out this month! Or well the “Everasking Edition” whatever thats supposed to mean. Desire I Want To Turn Into You is really good and I was happy to revisit it! The added songs are really nice too. Listened to it quite a bit this month :)
Songs
1. Moth to the Flame by Chairlift - Ugh this song is just fantastic. Caroline Polachek’s voice is so hauntingly beautiful and she’s just doing her beautiful thing all over this dance-y beat. It just elevates what would already be a good song to a whole other level. That basically describes the whole album really.
2. Dangerous by TEN - AREN’T YOU A DIVA?! This is so good! Congrats to Mr. Ten on his solo debut. Absolutely infectious groove.
3. Show U Off by Chairlift - More from this same Chairlift album. Sooo good! This one is especially fun and funky.
4. want u back by joan - still here for the second month in a row huh? Lets see if it can make it a hat trick! I do love this song
5. YOU GET ME by TWICE - Mmmm yessss! Hearing that people didn’t like this album is insane to me like wth. Anyway You Get Me is the perfect closer to a skip free EP and is probably my favorite kpop song this year so far. It’s very much like.. whatever that genre that SM said RIIZE was supposed to be? Do you guys remember that? Emotional Pop?

Tagged by: @somaisbatman
Last song: "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)" by Talking Heads has been my latest major earworm. I just made it the new opening of the playlist I’ve been slowly building for the BBEG of my D&D campaign. “Take a look at these hands! The hands of a government man”
Favorite Color: I genuinely loved the red that @somaisbatman picked but for the sake of individuality I'll say the type of pink/lilac/violet-y color that clouds take on at sunset
Currently Watching: umpteenth rewatch of Twin Peaks: The Return with friends. I also started Nichijou with friends recently, which is hysterical
Last Movie: A few: Rewatched The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, probably a top 10-or-20 all-timer for me, since I had been thinking about the late great Michael Gambon; Patlabor 2 (without any context for the rest of the franchise), which was really interesting and beautifully animated and made me want to get mechapilled; and The World's Greatest Sinner, a film directed by and starring notorious Hollywood hanger-on Timothy Carey, about the meteoric political rise of a former insurance salesman who wants to empower the American people with immortality. To quote @impish-lion, it is a glimpse into the mind of your father's weirdest friend. He also compared the protagonist to Euron Greyjoy in that he barely registers as a human being, mainlines a Mystery Juice definitely illicit in nature, and fancies himself a god
Currently Reading: Too many books. I'm making my way through The Lord of the Rings for the first time, which, y'know, it's great. Fevre Dream by George R.R. Martin is pretty good so far, and it's interesting to see earlier stages for a lot of ideas that get more fleshing out in ASOIAF. Also by GRRM we have A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which like LOTR has taken me embarrassingly long to pick up. I'm slowly inching through The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu, which I'm determined to finish because I really liked its predecessor, even if this trilogy is a little out of my usual wheelhouse. Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin is great even if I need to put it down for a few weeks at a time. And lastly Inherent Vice by Thomas Pynchon, at whose midpoint I've been stalled for about a year. I'm loving it, I've just seen the movie so many times, and also as you can see I've got a lot on my plate already lol
Sweet/spicy/savory: Spicy
Relationship status: Single (not working super actively to change this, but I am talking very casually to people on the apps, more to feel Desired than anything. at least one connection seems promising so We Shall See. I just want to kiss cool queer people lol)
Current Obsessions: I'm in a bit of an obsession-rut, barring like, the actually obsessive things I do, i.e. washing my hands over and over lmao. I really want to rewatch the The Terror for Halloween season, that will definitely become an obsession if I do. I've also been playing lots of Baldur's Gate III but I wouldn't say that's at Obsession Status.
Last googled: the release date for Killers of the Flower Moon. I'm busy that weekend :(
Currently working on: My video editing reel. The next arc of my D&D campaign (no idea when I'll actually be running it, but I feel really confident that I've basically got it all mapped out. I've been running it for several years now and much as I'll miss it when it's finished, I am incredibly happy to wrap it up soon lol). I've also taken to writing creatively more in my free time recently which has been nice. EDIT: oh, also my mental health/gender/interpersonal relationships but that’s not Currently so much as Perennially lol
tagging my irl friend @impish-lion even though I know him pretty well. also tagging mutuals @visenyaism/@soupseason, @moss-sprouted and @pigeonz/@melasshai. Nobody do this if you don't want to lol

I hope I never get to old to scream loudly to music while driving.
It’s such a cathartic feeling. My hands on the wheels. My eyes on the road. My attention on my surroundings. But my ears on the music and mouth moving. I only tend to do it with songs I’m already familiar with, ideally the ones I like to play on loop, again and again.
You’d think I would tire of it. But no. I can keep going. Granted, most of my drives are usually 30-40 minutes, but you best believe those will be filled entirely with my music. I’ll pick according to my mood, or just hit shuffle on a playlist of thousands of songs and see what it brings me. Loop or skip at will.
I grew up listening to the radio, and while there is some appeal in that, and how some shows even expose you to new and local music, I am have also grown quite good at seeking that out myself. I know what I like now and familiar vocals blasting through my speakers are the best.
Those emotional heartbreaking songs where you can feel the desperation of the singer? Yeah, I’ll be singing along as if it was me who experienced the heartbreak, the loss, the downfall. I am everything in that moment except myself.
I burrow into a song, and let my voice carry. Outward and loudly. I jam along. I have a party. My car is my own little bubble and I can do anything within in it. It’s the cathartic release of raising my voice while moving. It was true back when my vehicle was a lot smaller too, a scooter, but then I sometimes had to stop singing along when near bikes.
I don’t do that in my car. If you can hear me, then live with it. I am fully convinced that the car absorbs the majority, and I will not learn anything to the contrary. This is one of the only times I’ll allow myself ignorance.
It’s a sacred practice almost. It feels intimate. It is incredibly grounding.
I find myself thinking sometimes of the artists that recorded the songs I oh so adore and sing along to loudly and proudly. Of how they once stood in a recording book, probably nervous about how this would be received and hoping people would like it.
I have no way of telling them, of sharing this moment with them, but I still like to send a thought up to the sky. A whisper of thanks, even though they can never know it, I like to pretend the warmth of it can travel to them. Wherever they may be on the planet, or even if they’re not.
I don’t have a nice singing voice. I am fully aware of this, and yet it will not stop me. I don’t sing for it to sound pretty. I sing for the enjoyment of it, for how it makes me feel. That is far more important.
I’ve got many aspects of my life where I strive for perfection, either by choice or simply by the condition of my brain, but not this one. I will happily sound like a dying goose if that was the case, because it’s not about the sound at all.
It’s about the joy. The unbridled feeling of being human. Of connection with a piece of audio art. To pull it right into my chest, hold it close to my heart. Let my voice echo the recording, not striving for harmony but connection.

Album Review of the Week: The Veronicas - Gothic Summer (2024)
The Veronicas' latest album (if you can call it that, with 8 tracks clocking in at 21 minutes) came out this spring and while I haven't followed them much over the years, I absolutely love "Untouched" so I was excited to give this a listen.
The album opens with Perfect, a nice sentiment but honestly the lyrics leave it a little tired and bland. There are loads of people who need to hear that they are not alone in feeling like they don't fit in, it is an important message, but it's just not presented in a way that sets it apart from the thousands of other songs that are saying the same thing. I do like how rocky it is during the chorus, however!
Now, Detox is the main reason I bought this album. It sounds straight out of 2009 in the best way! It is energetic, a little manic and tons of fun - and we get a bridge which is a rarity these days. The bridge brings a creepier energy to it and also ends up lending the outro.
Here To Dance is another standout, I absolutely love this one! It has been on all my party playlists this year. I love the little disco elements and the energy is on-point. I like how it talks about tuning out the noise and negativity of life and just dancing instead of worrying!
The first few times I heard Savage, it kept catching me off guard because I thought they were saying "How could you be just another sad b*tch. Once I got past that, I do enjoy this track as well - it brings in beats that fit 2024 better than the other tracks so far. I already don't love when rappers infiltrate my pop bops, but I especially am not a fan of rappers with heavy accents. It is just a personal preference! Kerser's verse is also very very short, which is a little odd, but I guess that's better for me.
Invisible brings us back to the late 2000s pop rock sound they are known for. I really enjoy the smooth melody on this one, it flows very nicely above the heavy instrumental and their vocals sound great as always.
Ribcage is the only true ballad on the album, it sounds gorgeous but ballads just don't stick for me :)
Jungle is a super weird song, it is best to think of it like a B-52s song - which does make sense since they cite the group as a big influence on the album. The surf guitar and ethereal laughing in between verses is really fun! The lyrics are crazy, but the overall vibe is fun and kooky.
Then, we close out with an acoustic version of Perfect - the first track. Making this really only 7 songs, not an album!!
As much as the album vs EP thing bothers me, I really enjoy this release and am glad to have it in the collection! The Veronicas did some really great things here. I like how they were able to still do their pop rock style without sounding too dated.

okay my thoughts on chk chk boom:
i like it! it's not my all time favourite stray kids title track but it's fun. they tried something different and it turned out well. it kinda sounds like an ateez song, largely because of the last chorus, but it does have a somewhat ateez-y sound - which i like!
the instrumental is fun and the song is structured well. the verses are good and i like the topline melodies. not a huge fan of the prechorus but i like the chorus a lot. i don't think it has the best line distribution but everyone seems to have the same amount of cool/memorable bits? i like the choreo a lot. also good for them for getting ryan reynold and hugh jackman in the MV!
i'd give it a 7.9/10? id say currently it's in my top five skz title tracks? in 5th place, below thunderous, maniac, god's menu and back door.
thoughts on the ate EP as a whole:
i really liked mountains! b-sides that could've been title tracks are always my favourite skz songs (i.e megaverse). it's VERY stray kids. i'd give it a 7.5/10? i liked the refrain bit (head above the clouds etc) more than the chorus and the chorus was the low point in the song for me.
i don't like jjam that much, it feels like a messier version of item. i do think it would be very good live, and i think my thoughts on it could change. but i found the lyrics kinda cringey and annoying. it's a 5/10 sorry
i like it is very radio friendly. i didn't playlist it and the chorus feels a little funky. i do know that this is one of the songs that they were trying something different with, and i think they did well with something that's quite far from what they're usually used to, but skz has done pop-y songs before that i like more than this one (see like half of han's solo songs). 6.5/10, it's not cohesive enough for me. instrumental is cool though
runners is a lot like domino honestly, until the chorus. it's quite good but it's not playlisted. the production is fun! i bet it'll have super fun choreo. it kinda reminds me of social path too? it's very season two shounen anime opeing. 7/10 i think
twilight is amazing obviously. han's songs always slay. sonically, it's like if want so bad (lee know and han) and that song by jeonghan and wonwoo from seventeen that i forgot the name of had a kid and the kid is friends with mingi and yunho's song. (i need the skz player/replay/whatever the heck it's called songs on spotify). solid 9/10 hanpop never fails us
i... don't like the self titled song much. for a song called stray kids, it's not the most stray kids sounding song. this song also reminds me of social path and is giving last season of a sports anime opening when they're in their third year and are going to nationals and its sad but also happy or whatever. the references to their older songs were cute. 7.5/10, it's a nice sounding song but it's also not playlisted. fitting that it released just after the contract renewal news came out! i hope they're all happy with the contracts and stuff
the chk chk boom festival version is garbage. what the fuck happened to the instrumental. it sounds sped up but its not and its what panic and fear sound like. i want it removed from my memories. 2/10
overall, it was a good project! it's a solid EP and i think it'll be good live (hoping i can get tickets lol). from the mini documentary thing they did, it seems like they were a bit creatively burnt out and also quite tired while working on this, and i think they wanted it out sooner than it was? regardless, it's a great release and considering how busy they've been the past year, it's very good. i would give it a solid 7.5/10 overall.
#stray kids#stray kids comeback#music review#i hope their contract negotiations included a more sustainable release schedule#i'd rather them release one full album a year than two or three EP's#and i think that would also be better for them and their creative process#also guys#i am a fan of stray kids okay#please don't interpret any of this as hate for the members or the music!#i'm just sharing my thoughts on the album the same way i do with other artists i like#it is very rare that i like every song on an album or EP#that has happened ONCE this year and it was the xdinary heroes album which you should all listen to because it's amazing#also congrats to skz for the song on the deadpool and wolverine soundtrack!#to anyone who actually reads this entire thing:#thank you i guess?#i did not realize how much i wrote lol

Okay you've ranked TXT's eras but can you rate their albums? LIKE solely based on the songs.
i got you bestie.
i'll go in chronological order from debut until now since i've literally been here from the beginning. i will be excluding singles and japanese comebacks.
i know you didn't ask but i'll also include the best song from each in my opinion and music taste.
let's just get into it.
THE DREAM CHAPTER: STAR
• 8/10
• the songs are good, the vibes are there AND they showed variety from the very get go. what more can we really ask for?
• best song: blue orengeade. sue me. it was autumn here when they debuted but it was still a bit hot so, summer song??
THE DREAM CHAPTER: MAGIC
• 9.5/10
• i loved her. i remember i was in math class when this came out and obviously i was listening to it.
• guys we. got a glimpse of rapper beomgyu in angel or devil, what more could i ask for. not to mention it had the best stage outfits during this era. i literally don't make the rules. (TAEHYUN FAKE CHEWING GUM IN THAT ONE STAGE!!! GUYS 😭)
• i know we're basing this on songs but guys kai in this era!!! we don't talk about that enough.
• y'all are sleeping on roller coaster fr.
• best song: 20cm (guys i live amd breathe rnb, spare me.)
THE DREAM CHAPTER: ETERNITY
• 7/10
• i said this before, they saw is struggling and came to save the day.
• don't at me for my rating though...
• best song: maze in the mirror (prod. beomgyu is my favorite genre 😍)
MINISODE1: BLUE HOUR
• 7/10 (literally sue me!!)
• no bc this is THE autumn (or fall ig) album, that, i will say loud and proud even though it was getting hot as shit down here.
• everyone was doing disco at this time though, inwas kinda over it but it was still nice.
• guys we sleep on beds, not art bc way home??
• best song: ghosting (yes)
THE CHAOS CHAPTER FREEZE + THE CHAOS CHAPTER FIGHT OR ESCAPE (yes i'm counting them as one)
• 10/10. no further questions your honor.
• it's no secret at this point that this was my favorite era by farrr.
• she delivered and devoured.
• guys i literally don't have much to say other than the fact that ashnikko popped off with frost (yes i know she didn't wrote it alone)
• we got prod. kai (HELLO GO LISTEN TO DEAR SPUTNIK!!)
• let me also side track a little. WOLF CUT BEOMGYU??? BLOND HUENING KAI?? SKATER TXT???? we were FED.
• i still think about the anti-romantic challenge to this day. you will forever be iconic.
• best song: 0x1=LOVESONG (dare i say their best title song)
MINISODE2: THURSDAY'S CHILD
• 10/10
• great ep from start to finish.
• no guys i knew they would eat tge moment i listened to opening sequence. literally the perfect 1st track i've heard.
• first time we got unit songs so obviously i was looking forward to it.
• yes this was released in the depths of autumn here but thursday's child has far to go went straight intoy summer playlist.
• best song (this ome was tricky): opening sequence/lonely boy. they're tied moving on.
THE NAME CHAPTER: TEMPTATION (notice how the album covers have only been X for the past 2 years?)
• 7/10 because it was short as shit. like wtf am i suppose to do with 14 minutes?? (i mean go off keshi but it was too short babe)
• 10/10 grudge aside
• pulled me out of the gutter i was in frfr.
• it was short but it did it's job, i am not gonna lie.
• perfect from start to finish and you know what, this probably wasn't the intention, idk but this was the ep of the summer, like it was actually summer here when this was released and i'll be blasting it this summer too.
• coi leray!! that's all.
• best song: tinnitus (no surprise there). their first afrobeats song amd they delibered honey. they made it for us 😭 (africans)
THE NAME CHAPTER: FREEFALL
• 5.5/10 SHOOT ME!!!
• guys don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad album, it just wasn't doing it for me, idk. like i got into it only liking 2 songs 💀
• chasing that feeling and happily ever after did grow on me a little but like...
• i'll give it to them though, this was by far their is experimental album. like how you give us new age, rock, disco pop, rnb etc in ONE album???
• best song: dreamer (no brainer honestly.) insert what i said about 20cm
----
there we go, theresmy honest rating of txt's albums and ep. would this ruffle feathers if i mattered? definitely. how dare i give one of my ult groups a 5.5/10?
them being one of my ults doesn't mean i have to eat everything they put out up 💀
anyway...
bye

Good day ya'll!
Its 11:30 and I just completed a small research session on fillipino martial arts and taking extensive notes on how my characters might move in the upcoming combat scenes. Funny enough, I always thought my larp experience would help in writing combat realistically… but oh boy… I WAS SO WRONG… its embarassing.
I am still no real expert, but maybe I can find someone to help with those scenes in particular down the line. For now I did watch some videos and read some instructions online and feel confident to get into the fight scene, I've been hyped for yesterday… but first… warm up time!!
by Electrum Photography
Then and again, he would get a flicker of red eyes, burning brightly with flashes of inert blood magic, his friend no doubt struggling to hold it back, hating crowds as it was. Dan… you are getting an ear full, for dragging her out here, he thought ruefully and picked up his pacing again. A few moments later, she stumbled free from the bodies swaying and squirming with the thrumming beats. "going to try smth new, winky face", had been the last text he received from her before getting on the tube and hot damn… she had. Only her hair was reminiscent of the timid mage, kept straight and falling down onto her shoulders, bangs freshly trimmed to end in a straight line above her brows. To cover her chest Lucille wore only a black pleather bra, the burning church tattooed across he abdomen, was on full display, showing its bell-tower ablaze, right between her breasts. She had paired it off with nothing more than a pair of latex gloves and a matching skirt, making Dan sweat just by looking at it. Clashing with the entire get up, the mad woman had forgone the use of shoes completely.
Not my best work… but after spending so much time on researching, I am a bit anxious to get writing. There is still some catching up with the long-term goal to do… soooo snaps fingers LET'S DO IT!
Okaaay… five hours later… didn't hit the word count… yet. But I am due for a food break, having ordered poké bowl from my fav restaurant.
I really underestimated how far fight scenes were out of my comfortzone… usually I am more for the whole emotional stuff… but as I am writing sci-fi about ppl doing sneaky shit and pissing off powerful other ppl, I don't think I will get away without it…
In the end… I went against the plan I had, and reshuffled my entire story a little bit.. soooo.. that just might turn into something interesting… who knows…
As of now I am at ~1400 words, so very close… aaaand the next scene coming up, will be snugly inside my comfort zone again, hence I am no tooo worried, I won't hit my mark for the day. This wraps up Chapter IV nice and neat~
I do a lot better at starting a chapter than ending it sooo...
But.. to learn from this, I will probably alter the daily warm up challenge a bit… by changing it to stuff I am not quite good at yet..
Maybe a paragraph of a battle scene or dialogue each day? Something like this.
As it stands now, I will wait for my food and write a bit more afterwards…
For now, lets continue with the Playlist, shall we?
Today's song: Faunts - M4 Pt.2
youtube
Why is this on my playlist? Those among you with an excellent taste in Video Games, might already know this one. If not by name, then from the Mass Effect I credits, as it is from the Game's OST. To be honest, it doesn't align at all with what I usually listen to, but then that's mostly everything that leads to the release of dopamine in my brain… so I can't claim any consistency there. Being a huuuuge fan of the Mass Effect Trilogy… and my alien waifu Garrus, connecting a very peaceful time in my life with these games… an age of innocence so to speak.. I have feelings about the song as well…
The lyrics just resonate with me… and I kinda always come back to it, when I have a hard time. Its not cheerful or anything.. but it holds this deepfelt wish for someone to heal… and struggling with mental illness, I just need it.
As my novel draws a lot from my personal experiences and how I see the world, this fits the story's playlist quite well… and its Mass Effect related… sooo doubly perfect~
Sooooo I will go wait for food now and play some Mahjong or whatever :D Have a lovely day~

run-on review music roundup
dude this has been a great week for new music for me personally, I enjoy a wide range of music but there's a certain corral of sounds that are in sync with my heartbeat, and the first 2/3 of the list exist under that umbrella
God Games by The Kills: very excited to hear new music from them, genuinely one of my favorite bands ever since I was a kid (Future Starts Slow is one of my favorite songs of all time), this is the most they've leaned into electric/digital effects (ie synth, drum machines) so far, occasionally to their detriment (ie Bullet Sounds starts off a little cartoony but builds to something cool), but overall really complements their preexisting sound really nicely, New York and Wasterpiece are my favorites but everything worked really well as a cohesive album, I liked it a lot
Chronicles of a Diamond by Black Pumas: I loved their first album and was hype to see something so complete so soon, this one seems like it takes up more space than the last one, it's difficult to explain but it sounds more voluminous and I'm down with it, I choreograph music videos and performances to music that really hits my head, this is the kind of music I daydream about singing barefoot with a long corded microphone and no bra and having a blast, Angel is beautiful and I've listened to Gemini Sun on repeat quite a bit this week (shame it's november, very halloweeny sound that one), but all the songs are bangers hell yeah
Zig by Poppy: this is the first album of hers I've listened to top to bottom, and honestly this is an unusual instance where the compilation makes the experience overall weaker (as opposed to neutral) than if they were just individual songs, back to back you hear how samey a lot of them are, don't get me wrong I still liked several of individual songs (I consider Knockoff autistic camp and it's going in the mix playlist, 1s + 0s and Motorbike are also good), but it really does not work well as a cohesive album, these songs could have been hyped up more had they been released as 2-3 EPs, also I know tiktok is a thing but it's a lot harder for my decrepit ancient music ears to get into songs this short

okay i have some time to spare, so i'll keep it a little short.
(sidenote: i am still hoping and praying that they go through a name change at some point because i can not keep typing loossemble with a straight face)
this is a longer ep than i expected.
i don't care much for intros that aren't actual songs at all but this one does seem to give me a pretty clear sense of what i'm about to hear so. points for that maybe.
sensitive is nice. i don't have much to say for it. air force is better for me and more loona ish to my untrained non orbit ears but sensitive doesn't stray too far from that loona vibe either i think. good chorus.
real world is a fuckin vibe. colouring is goin to my 2 am playlist. newtopia is kind of a little bop but i think it could have been like. bouncier or something. strawberry soda was fine, not super memorable. day by day is also a nice switchup for the outro but its a bit too ballad ish for my taste. real world is probably my favourite. <- cookie
should i die cookie ..?
i understand the unseriousness of loossemble is not for everybody but i've grown to love it like damn they really are my little loosers.. im glad they stuck with it despite orbit's initial reaction.
you not having "much to say" about sensitive and calling strawberry soda "not super memorable" is probably worst case scenario for me cause those are well. my #1 songs in the whole ep. but THAAAANK YOUUU for the real world appreciation this is what i've been preaching since release day. you nailed it with newtopia too, it was ranked above colouring for me during my first listen but i've changed my ways. day by day is too ballad ish for me as well but still good regardless! real world 🔛🔝 (<- is my #3)
#THANK U FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!#i can see how air force one feels more “loona ish” to the average non orbit.. which shouldn't be you but alas..#ask

songs anon here
1. cradle you device: i thought this was a nice little tune. like sitting in a patch of sun or getting ur hair braided
2. jewel box: wow! ive listened to grace many times before, but i didnt know his label had released other stuff he was working on before he died. the song was so so pretty, v jeff buckley fashion, the lyrics were gorgeous also
3. misty blue: not really my jam. it was nice, but this style of music doesn’t really tickle my fancy
4. raghib: beautiful! im honestly very ignorant about music outside of the “‘“western canon’”” and my mums old latino records so this was fun to listen to. i loved the part at the end where everything kinda combined together. all of ur songs so far feel like a hug, very pleasing.
5. clumsy: i had literally never before heard of fergie and apparently shes the black eyed peas girl (??!?) cool i dk what to make of this song……. my feelings are neutral to mixed. i liked the spoken word bit in the middle tho
thank u for the songs <33
ill give u five songs if u want
1. he wants to know you - maja
2. ive been waiting for you - pixies
3. life and times - vending machine repairmen
4. spin spin sugar - sneaker pimps
5. i won’t hurt you - the west coast pop art experimental band
no pressure to listen to them though x
this is so funny. glad u listened i literally chose just random tracks i enjoy and ur answer inclines me to say ur open to experimenting more even if u haven’t so much before so i’ll casually drop my habibi funk (& similar styles) playlist & my italian classics playlist & i fuck severely with afro psychedelica too but haven’t started my own playlist yet so here’s a spotify curated one !
listened & the maja isn’t my style but i can imagine it’s fun & summery, pixies i already love & this song is no exception but i haven’t listened in a while so this was a good reminder, life and times i definitely would’ve liked when i was in high school, spin spin sugar i recognize but don’t think it was on any of my playlists so that was another good reminder, i won’t hurt you is very spacey good music to read to so that’s gonna hit my playlists too!

hi!
i’m here to be annoying, I am a heartstopper swiftie too.
The first time I heard Electric Touch I looked at my best friend and was like oh this is Nick and Charlie’s song. I was already so excited because I also LOVE LOVE LOVE FOB.
I have 3 Tay songs on my playlist “I love liking you”
It’s Nice To Have A Friend - this is so them, i can not get into all the ways, if Taylor told me she read Heartstopper and then wrote that I’d believe it
Begin Again - Such a fitting song for the way Ben treated Charlie to the insufferable infatuation Nick has for him
and Dress- for the line “I don’t want you like a best friend” but I think I need to switch it to Electric Touch now.
(also i share the love you have for peace and it’s so cool to see someone else appreciate an otherwise underrated song)
Hiiiiiiii! Sorry for the delayed response, I wanted to make sure I had time to properly respond to your lovely message!
Electric Touch IS a Nick and Charlie song and I have like a third of a fic written that’s inspired by it. I’ve loved FOB since middle school and was SO EXCITED to see them featured on a vault track from my favorite album. I love their performance with Taylor from the VS Fashion Show a while ago and think they just work well together musically!
Okay, cutest playlist name ever. You wanna know what I called my most recent playlist? “A new playlist.” I’m revolutionary.
INTHAF is SUCH a Nick and Charlie song!! I titled my first N/C fic after that song because it IS THEM. Like, Taylor could have. HS was alive and thriving when Lover was made and released. Also, her approving seven in the new season makes me wonder how much of the show she’s seen. Like, did she watch that scene and move on with her life? Or did she watch more because the beauty of that scene intrigued her?! I need to know.
Ugh, Begin Again works SO WELL. Charlie, my beloved, I’m so glad you found someone who actually cares about you and is nice to you and loves all your little quirks. Let’s get these boys into a cafe on a Wednesday!
Dress is the ultimate friend to lovers song for obvious reasons. I also think the “secret moments in a crowded room” is very N/C even if they are far less subtle than they think they are. Say my name and everything just stops but it’s Char. Like, that works very well.
PEACE IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS SHE’S EVER MADE. I will sing the praises of that song forever and have no idea why it’s so underrated.
Thank you so much for this message, it was very fun to talk TS/HS!!

May I Take Your Order?
If Time Magazine were to determine their Person Of The Year honoree right now, I am pretty sure it would be a non-human entity we all know as AI. After all, AI has been in the news practically every day this year, and even though it first hit the mainstream last November with the release of ChatGPT, it was not until 2023 that it found its stride.
Now it is everywhere, this human-like force that has no body, no pulse, no organs other than a brain. And boy howdy, is it ever smart. Not perfect, but very, very smart.
A month ago I noticed a new feature had been added to my Spotify app, DJ “X.” Basically, it’s an AI DJ, which talks to me, calls me by name, and serves up three or four songs at a time based on “What you were listening to in the summer of 2019” or “I think you’ll like these.” I am an audience of one, and its playlist and presentation is entirely created with AI.
It’s not perfect, as I said above. He pronounces classic rock band REO Speedwagon as “Rio Speedwagon,” which is somewhat understandable given that DJ “X” isn’t really a human and wasn’t around in the 1970s like I was. And sometimes it tosses out a little speed metal, but probably only because I had never hit the Skip button once or twice in the past when I let their suggestion engine run freely.
Otherwise, though, DJ “X” is a frequent companion on my walks, especially once I have listened to all my podcast episodes of the week. Sure, I could listen to my own playlists, but I have worn those out completely. It’s nice to have a fresh perspective on what is more or less music I like.
Turns out that my buddy “X” is moonlighting at fast food drive-thrus now, and he couldn’t have come at a better time. Between rising wages and labor shortages, AI is filling an important gap in fast food sales. And, as I have said many times in recent years, automated workers never show up late, don’t get sick, don’t complain, and don’t form unions.
Who could ask for anything more?
The AI drive-thru is the perfect deployment of this technology, because it can address customers as soon as they arrive at the ordering kiosk, as opposed to dealing with humans whom are often juggling multiple tasks. They can upsell better than any humans, because they can think on the fly, offering additional items or meal deals that perfectly complement the original order. And I am sure the tech exists whereby a customer could login to an app or have a QR on their phone scanned so that loyalty points can be accrued.
This is all just the tip of the iceberg. Chatbots have quickly morphed into term paper-writing assistants, DJs, and now order takers. But can you begin to imagine where else we might see this soon? I am betting that Amazon’s Alexa will soon be packed with far more AI than it currently has, as will other household assistants. It will likely pre-populate my shopping list, because it knows what I buy, specifically certain brands as well as broader categories. And, it should offer recipes based on those things I consume frequently.
Google Maps and Apple Maps will learn ever more of our habits, and begin making suggestions without our having to query them. I am sure that by now Google already knows my love of Thai food and craft beer. I shouldn’t have to ask it; it should be volunteering this information. We’re getting close already, though, because Apple Maps knows my comings and goings, and as soon as I fire up the van at 9am, it tells me that traffic is light and I will drive at work in nine minutes. The same goes for the return trip. It’s so good that it recognizes my transient residences, meaning an overnight at an out-of-town hotel. If I go out for dinner, it tells me how long it will take to get back to my temporary home base, and, oh, here’s the route.
I could go on. AI is truly the Person Of The Year, and whether you find it just a bit creepy or not, it’s here to stay. It can be male. It can be female. Or it can be ambigenderous (I made that up). But it is much more than just an alter ego, it is “Other Me,” as it seeks to simplify my life.
I just hope it doesn’t go on a shopping spree or craft beer binge without my consent. That could be dangerous. Would you like fries with that sandwich?
