MSB (Magic School Bus) student headcanons, pt. 1

This post will mainly focus on Carlos, since he’s my favorite of the boys in the class.

1. First of all, I headcanon him as autistic, and I have the evidence to back it up:

His knowledge of puns, which is more than any elementary school kid I’ve ever met. He probably knows as many puns as I know bird facts.

The fact that he almost always tells puns, even though they often aren’t well received. This leads me to believe that Carlos isn’t super great at reading certain social cues.

He can be very hard-headed and tends to argue a lot when he’s upset. I can definitely relate.

His preferred way of showing affection seems to be high-fiving people, though he does also like hugs.

In the MSB chapter books, he is somewhat of a geology nerd and has a decent sized rock collection. (I know this isn’t canon to the show, but I incorporate this trait into his character anyway.)

In the “Plays Ball” episode, he’s the only student whose baseball jersey has a long sleeved shirt underneath— which leads me to believe he has a sensory preference for long sleeves. That, paired with the fact that he wears a hoodie almost all the time (except when it is literally 99 degrees Fahrenheit out).

Okay, time for more hc’s.

Carlos gets his sense of humor from his dad, who always tells the best (or worst, depending on who you ask) dad jokes at the dinner table.

If he were a Camp Half-Blood demigod, he would be in the Athena cabin. Now I know what you’re thinking: Why? Well, first of all, under all the jokes and silliness, he’s actually very clever. Carlos might not have the same book smarts as D.A. (Whom I headcanon to be in the Apollo cabin), but he’s very good at problem-solving on the go. He also likes to take charge of the situation should he feel he needs to. And finally, he doesn’t like spiders. He can tolerate them, but they’re still not his favorite animals.

Has a VERY good memory, in part thanks to all the puns he’s memorized.

Very close with his brother Mikey. I elaborated on their dynamic in a previous post. I also headcanon that he has a younger sister as well, since one of the easy-reader books mentions it. He’s very protective of both his siblings— if anyone dares insult them, watch out.

Prefers to use words to solve problems, but he will not hesitate to throw hands if need be.

Best bros with Tim. The two of them immediately hit it off when they first met. I’ll have to rewatch more of the show for their dynamic, but it’s pretty much like Sulu and Chekov from Star Trek.

His friendship with D.A. is a bit more complicated ….

The two of them often clash when it comes to ideas. Most of their arguments are VERY petty, but they argue with each other more than with anyone else. Despite that, they actually work quite well on group projects together.

When they’re not working together, they’re constantly trying to one-up each other. At first it’s just out of spite and competitiveness, but eventually, Carlos has to admit that that’s not the only reason he’s doing it.

He secretly has a crush on D.A. (or at least he thinks it’s secret.)* However, he’s too nervous to actually tell her.

* It isn’t completely secret. Only Phoebe and Tim know, and Carlos made them both swear not to tell. But now that they know, they keep trying to set him and D.A. up.

3. what’s your favorite candle scent?

I have this candle from bath and body works called like blueberry waffle cake or something idk but it solves like all of my problems immediately when I light it I love her. also if I've been cooking and my kitchen still smells like Food I have this espresso candle that I light to kind of wash it out and it is so so good

4. what flower would you like to be given?

sunflowers <3 they are bright and happy and they feel warm also I like how they face each other if they can't find the sun

I have this mesh jersey button up thing I got at the goodwill for 3 dollars that I know for a fact was from target originally but they sold out there before I could buy it so shoutout goodwill. anyway it has a truly obnoxious neon floral pattern on it and I love it so so much if I was a cartoon character that would be my base outfit

23. what’s your ideal date?

I truly want to just like sit on my living room couch with a bunch of blankets and a ton of horror movies lights off blinds closed and just not do anything else for the day. ideally whoever I am on a date with also likes horror and we can show each other our favorites and argue about who has better taste and give a little analysis on why our favorites are our favorites idk I just think it would be nice

25. what’s the best personal gift someone could give you (playlist, homemade card, etc.)

anything homemade is so special to me like little paintings homemade cards a mixtape I love them all it's like wow u made that with your hands bc u love me...... also I'm latino so if someone makes me food we are immediately for lifers

26. what movie would you want to live in?

I think I'd be a dope addition to the twilight universe. I don't want anything to do with them directly but I wanna be a guy in the bg just like can u believe these guys ?? what the hell is going on. anyway my real answer is high school musical

28. hugs or hand-holding?

both <3 I love holding hands and I love when u hold hands and they rub their thumb over your knuckles and I like when u hold hands and u both have to like compensate for being down a hand but u don't even think about letting go bc you're holding hands and that's important. also I don't think we as a society hug enough I personally would like to be hugged 24/7 if possible not to be touched starved on main but hi for the love of god hello

30. what reminds you of home (doesn’t have to mean house… just things that remind you of the feeling of home)?

the smell of coffee brewing and flowers blooming on the kitchen table and the color yellow and bright laughter during sunset and chalk scribbles on the sidewalk and oranges and the color purple and the smell of lavender and gardenia and shuffling a deck of playing cards and the intro to the vhs release of a goofy movie and live action ninja turtles and pez dispensers and 99 cent macaroni and cheese and warm tortillas with butter and peanut butter and sugar sandwiches when the power goes out and water balloon fights and wiffle balls

Pansy clutched at her girlfriend’s hand, willing the warmth of her own to be able to ground Hermione whilst she worried at her lip. Girlfriend. The Slytherin had been practicing the word when she lay in bed the previous night, staring at the Gryffindor red canopy beside a mass of curls. It felt so strange yet so familiar all at once, years of teenage overthinking allowing for plenty of daydreams about her future love life. And yet, she had never been able to use it.

Of course Pansy had wondered what would come of the late nights spent panting against Granger’s neck, her pyjama top balled in her fist, lost to the incredible sounds that emerged from the Gryffindor’s mouth. But it seemed both girls lost their nerve when the sun rose, and so it continued for the next six weeks; nights spent lavished in soft touches and desperate touches alike, and days spent purposefully ignoring each other’s very existence. Maybe it was cowardice, maybe it was fear of losing this unspoken bond. Either way, it took the two achingly long, miserable weeks of Easter break for either to admit that what they had had blossomed into something more, and so when Pansy had whispered the proposition and Hermione’s fierce brown eyes had searched hers, the two had agreed to give it a real shot.

Of course, this was Hogwarts, and nothing stayed private for long. And although their closest friends were awfully good at oblivion, the rest of the student body was not. Which is why the two young women were stood just outside of the Great Hall, hands clutched tightly together, desperately gathering their courage. Pansy knew she was less anxious than Hermione, having expertly dodged and rebounded the curses flying at her all year, matching each scathing look with her own much colder one. It didn’t matter that the golden trio had accepted her apologies (albeit begrudgingly on Weasley’s part), the rest of the student body were slow to follow.

Hermione cursed the turbulent waves in her stomach, urging them to quiet down. She had battled death eaters, broken wizarding law on far too many occasions, even obliviated her own parents, for Merlin’s sake! Of course all of those things had scared her, but all of them had to be done, all of them part of solving the problem. Hermione was good at that, solving problems. This problem, however, had far too many possible outcomes. Her friends could love her with open arms, or could be only okay with her relationship and so strain her friendships with them, or they could disown her. There could be shouting, cheering, jeering, laughter. So many what ifs, even if they weren’t likely.

The darker girl looked over to her girlfriend, a word she was quickly becoming accustomed to. The Slytherin caught her eye and winked at her, and that was all she needed. 

Hermione pulled Pansy forward, taking a deep breath as she walked into the Great Hall. A few heads turned, taking in the two girls, but Hermione ignored them, marching towards the Eighth Year table. Draco looked over first, a look of surprise drifting over his features, followed by a knowing smile. He nudged Harry, who took in his best friend with a look that was straight out of a muggle movie, jaw nearly hitting the ground. Neville looked over next, shock painting his face before he nodded quietly to himself. 

The sound of cutlery clattering made the two girls look over to Ron, who was looking between the two with knitted eyebrows. " 'Mione, why are you holding Parkinson's hand?" 

Hermione took a deep breath, bringing Pansy closer. "We're dating."

"Wait, what?"

"That's it. Pay up." Seamus elbowed Dean, who grunted in return.

"That is not what we bet." 

"Yes it is. I bet that there would be a Slytherin - Gryffindor couple by the end of the year." He took a swig of his pumpkin juice.

"No, you bet that we'd walk in on Harry and Draco doing the dirty." Dean raised his eyebrow at him.

"Same thing."

"Not for 10 galleons, it's not."

"Wait, what?" Harry choked on his drink, blushing.

"Gentlemen, please. We can focus on those gays later. We're focusing on these gays, now." Pansy waved her arm between her and Hermione, who in turn rubbed at her forehead. Why was everyone such a mess?

"Well, I for one, think it's sweet." Luna chipped in, having bounced over excitedly at seeing the two walk in. She pulled them both in for a tight hug, Hermione and Pansy sharing a look as they pulled away.

"Thank you, Luna." Hermione smiled.

"We will now allow for sixty seconds of questions, no more." Pansy tapped her watch impatiently.

"How long has this been going on?" Harry asked.

"Just over six weeks."

"The fact that it took you so long to make a move, is ridiculous." Draco tutted.

"Sweetheart, don't make me out your own rendezvous." Pansh quipped back, watching her best friend blush as much as the golden boy opposite him.

"What made you decide to tell us now?" This one came from Neville.

"Nothing is a secret in this place. Remember when Ron found out about Seamus and Dean?" Hermione answered. They all nodded, remembering Ron frantically avoiding discussing the two guys within the same sentence.

"Yeah, I still haven't forgotten how you called me an explosive Irish prick just to avoid saying my name next to Dean's." Seamus fake glared at Ron.

"I must say, this is going considerably better than when I came out to the ghoul at home. Medieval ghosts really aren't awake."

"You mean woke, Luna."

"Mmm, if you say so." Luna shrugged.

"Okay, we have time for one more question." Pansy said, looking at her watch.

"Oh! I've got one!" Seamus waved his arm wildly.

"Nope. Absolutely not." Pansy shook her head.

Seamus nodded. "Smart. It was not tasteful." 

"So, this is what's happening now? You're snogging Parkinson?" Ron raised his voice, bringing everyone's attention back to him.

"Don't be so childish. I really like her, Ron." Hermione sighed.

"You do?" Pansy turned to her girlfriend, batting her eyelashes.

"Of course, baby." The Gryffindor smiled back.

"Ew, 'Mione. Please never make me hear you say that again." Ron covered his ears.

"I have to agree with Ron. I will die happy never hearing you say 'baby' again." Harry said, patting his best friend on the back consolingly.

"Well if that's all done, I'm dying to eat dinner next to my girlfriend." Pansy declared, motioning everyone to make room for the two.

"Thank you for doing this with me." Hermione whispered as they sat down.

"I'm glad you appreciate it, because you're stuck with me now."

“Catra just sad gay grump” is the best summary and I thank you.

I’m less pissed now -- distance is a wonderful salve -- but still disappointed, and likely to stay there, I’d think. The more I ruminate on it, I’d like to add to my list of grievances the fact that Catra didn’t apologize to Scorpia.

I KNOW I KNOW. If there’s one character who’d not need you to grind out an awkward apology, for whom everything could be solved by a hug, it’s Scorpia. But it’s also not the point. Across multiple seasons, we saw Scorpia trying and trying and TRYING with Catra, and being shat on again and again for her efforts. While I personally feel it was an absolute waste of everybody’s time to invest so much in showing how 99% of Catra’s problems were CATRA if it wasn’t something they were particularly interested in exploring and resolving, the time was still spent. Even if Scorpia didn’t need the apology, she was owed it.

I’ve come to view it as a microcosm of my problems with Catra’s arc and the resolution that wasn’t. Atonement just isn’t something the show was interested in. She was bad until she wasn’t, and the vaguest pretense of change was enough. Let’s just skip all the uncomfortable middle bits where other characters are allowed to, you know, HAVE FEELINGS AND OPINIONS. That’s not fun, let’s just hug and never speak of it again, yay!

I doubt it would’ve entirely sold me on how it all came down, but Catra making a sincere effort to apologize for how she treated Scorpia, PARTICULARLY because Scorpia had already excused her from saying it, would have gone a long way toward making me feel better about the whole arc. There would at least have been a narrative-based acknowledgement of all her shit, rather than every single person shrugging it off and Catra never being held accountable for her epic mountains of bullshit.

A very important thing; if you read my "Here we are" post (if not, check here) you know I have the -let's say- pilot theory..... Now I'm 99% sure Garnet "We always be your family" sentens will be the thing what will helps Steven de-corruption some way

Just to help understand the Diamonds powers;

Yellow; She still destabilase a gem's form, but this helps her reform. Like a light form of poof. Also, possibly she could shater or crack gems, but now she technicly crack the gem parts to perfectly match together (or at least more or less)

Blue; She already had the power to made others feel like she. Now her power just comes in an other form, because she is happy. She has water related powers, that's why the clouds. I would be interested what can she do with fog or ice....... Fan fact; the color blue symbolises the sad feelings as well as the (blue bird of) happynes 😂

White; Being all gem's creator/mother she is one with each gem and back. Just now instead of spread, she absorbes their essence. Possibly she also has access to all type of gem powers, but she can use it more effective way when she attached to somebody who has experience with it

Personally, I can't decide; so, pro-kontra time 🔄:

I understand why Steven refused the clouds. Use something to make you feel good temporary is useless. Yes, you enjoy it, but you won't solve your problem(s). Also, not healty in a long run

Steven should accept it. To do something what you can enjoy is good. Even when you in a crises you could take a break and do something good with your friends. It will even help you to found a sollution

Actually, it's kind of horrifieing to see how deeply hates Steven the Diamonds. He doesn't forgive them, only work together them, because they do what he wants from them. On one hand, he is right, he was brought up by the Chrystals who taught him to fear the Diamonds. On the other hand, he always speaks about change. He can do it, he can cause it, but he can't accept it..... He still can't accept he can't change ALL the Diamonds...... And he hates it. He hates Pink.... Who is actually him......

Personally, I'm not sure, but I think he went to the Garden or to the Kindergarden.... He wants to be alone

So, Steven went home. And actually, he made a pretty good decision about his future. Helping others is a good thing to do, even when you are suffer as hell

But it's true; you can't do your best or help other in the greatest way when you are not ok. So, if you have a problem like this; helping is good thing both you and the others, but not always the sollution and just because it's good it doesn't makes your sins right.

Actually, makeing the Steven Uniherbs repeating *Steven needs help" was a great way to show a person's inside fight with himself; seemingly everything is fine, but not. He needs somebod

Try to speak with Steven wasn't bad idea. But the gems and his loved ones could learn; stand around anybody, who's trying to avoid a conversation is bad. Very, very bad. He/She will feel him-/herself in a trap -like an animal- and will try to found an escape at any cost. It would be more effective one by one

(so far I didn't see the last two episodes)

Ok so jumping on this train - the shift in Penny's portrayal just... bugs me so much?? Like, when did we ever get indication that James saw Penny as property and not her own person? What happened to Ciel? What about the team she would've had at the festival? When did things change? Why? What prompted it? We don't know. No one mentions it. Penny doesn't express any particular discomfort until "Cordially Invited". We're just expected to accept that it's a thing now.

It’s another one of those cases where I can kind of see how RWBY started to set that conflict up... but in the end skipped over 99% of the work. In “A Minor Hiccup” Penny runs into Ruby, weeks after their fight at the dock, and after failing to convince Ruby that it’s all a misunderstanding that she thinks she knows her, Penny admits that yeah, she was there, and she only left because her father is incredibly protective of her. She then goes on to say that she was told not to talk to anyone, particularly Ruby’s group, but it wasn’t her father who told her that. The two then stumble upon Ironwood’s presentation and the timing of that arrival, combined with Penny’s suggestion that they go elsewhere, heavily implies that Ironwood was the one to tell her to keep her distance. Indeed, when two guards spot Penny she takes off. She’s not supposed to be out on her own, let alone chatting with Ruby. 

This could indeed function as the beginnings of a “Ironwood only sees Penny as a weapon” plot line but the problem is that, at this point (in the very same episode) we’re shown why Ironwood and others in the know would want to keep Penny from getting too buddy-buddy with anyone: she’s a robot. The first person with an artificial aura. She is a dubiously ethical experiment that hasn’t been announced yet and is, literally, classified. That is the presumed reason for telling Penny not to make friends. Because (as actually happens) if she gets close to someone she might spill the beans... and not everyone is as kind-hearted as Ruby. Even ignoring what her reveal would (did) do to Atlas’ reputation, others might try to use Penny for their own gains. You know, like exactly what happened in Volume 7. 

However, this reason is then deemed null and void when Penny is cut in half at the tournament, revealing her robot status to the entire world. 

So when she’s resurrected in Volume 7 Ironwood’s original motivation - a motivation that hasn’t been touched on in five years - is gone. Penny is the beloved protector of Mantle. Ruby is in the know regarding not just her, but every other secret Ironwood is keeping. Penny’s secret identity has been obliterated and Ruby is in on every classified bit of info the show has, so why shouldn’t they be friends? We’re not told. What we are told though is that friendship is a Big Good Thing in Team RWBY and non-existent on Team Ironwood, even though we a) are given no new motivations for why this mindset supposedly exists and b) see the exact opposite: 

The Ace Ops claim they’re not friends but we see them being friends with their team, Team RWBYJNR, and Qrow throughout the volume

Penny says Ironwood won’t let her be friends with people (why?) but here she is chatting with Ruby while Clover is right behind her and she’s clearly friends with Winter. She gets to show the group around, wake them up every morning, participate in missions like an election party that, as the title suggests, was really just meant to be a night off. It certainly doesn’t look like Ironwood is concerned with Penny keeping her distance. 

Via his subordinates, Ironwood is implied to be anti-friend yet he’s the one hugging Qrow and throwing the team a license party. He extends both trust and friendship towards them the moment they walk through his door, despite doing so on a stolen airship 

Team RWBY is supposed to be the epitome of friendship but they’re lying to their main ally, ignoring Ozpin, meekly going along with Ruby’s secrets despite disagreeing with her, not fighting as a team, and have two members going behind all the others’ backs

If I had to choose a friendship here based on actions rather than meaningly words, it wouldn’t be with Team RWBY. That extends to Penny and her relationship with Ironwood too. Volume 2 (again, five years ago) implied that Ironwood wanted to keep Penny secret, but that’s not the same thing as not viewing her as a person. Her lack of friends was a direct result of her status as a classified experiment. Whether we agree with that decision or not, it is logical, and that motivation was removed on Volume 3. You can’t jump straight from, “Ironwood doesn’t want Penny blabbing her status as a robot to random first years” to “Ironwood only views her as a weapon” and expect me to buy that. Especially when everything we’re shown implies the exact opposite. Do weapons get to go to parties for cake and selfies? Are weapons presented as the defender of a city, clearly building on Ozpin’s advice to have a symbol of peace? We’re never shown this supposed perspective of Ironwood’s until the series randomly decides it should exist and even then the evidence is... pretty flimsy. Ironwood says, “Penny is completely under my control.” Is that a horrible way to phrase things? Yes. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Ironwood doesn’t think she’s a person. Does Penny look upset? Yes. But she looked upset the moment Jacques asked if they were “safe” with her around. Based on the actual canon, it feels to me like this is a flaw of Ironwood’s that’s easily addressed. There isn’t evidence that he thinks a robot with an artificial aura is beneath him, only that he doesn’t know how to talk about Penny in a more respectful manner. He doesn’t act like he really thinks she shouldn’t have friends, he just doesn’t know how to express caution without giving a firm, blunt, either/or order. This could have all been solved with one conversation between them where Penny lays out the language she’d like Ironwood to use (reflective of many minorities’ experiences: “Hey, I know you don’t actually think this but the way you referred to me is very derogatory”) and Ironwood clarifies his status on friendships among peers. Instead a single line somehow got blown up into, “Ironwood has no respect for Penny and doesn’t care about her at all.” Which then somehow became, “Since Ironwood hates Penny it makes perfect sense that he’d shoot Oscar. He clearly hates kids.” Which... we’re missing a couple of steps there lol.

               “Brian, be careful!”

Brian stood on the snow covered roof, fixing Christmas lights to the side of it. He fully intended on making this the prettiest house on the whole street. He didn’t earn himself a craft reputation for nothing. He’d made enough models at work to help them solve crimes, surely he could do a good job with this too.

               “Always.” He said with what Rebecca called his best shit-eating grin.

               “Cause you remember last year-”

               “Yeah, yeah, last year I slipped off the roof, I know. Don’t worry, I promise it won’t happen again. I’ve grown since then. I’m being really careful where I put my foot. Ice won’t take me down this time.”

The look Rebecca gave him from the front lawn seemed doubtful, but he’d prove her wrong. He had learned from his mistake, now he expected there to be traitorous ice hiding under the snow. He really was being careful. He didn’t know why she had so little confidence in him, he’d done so many more dangerous things before and came out the other side unscathed.

               “You know, you don’t have to do this. You don’t even celebrate Christmas!”

               “Yeah, but I like to make you happy. And most importantly, I think your mom only likes me because I can climb up here to put up the lights for her.”

Maybe that was a stretch considering how last time went, but he’d still gotten the job done before he fell and sprained his ankle.

               “That’s not true! She also likes that you’re... that... that you can change the bottle in the water cooler.”

               “Exactly. Anyway, you coming tonight? You know my parents always make a big deal of the first night.”

               “Of course. Besides, Rachel made me promise to. She wants a friendly face to be on her side when your brothers’ wives gang up on her.”

               “And I’m not one? Should I remind you I was doing that job just fine before you came along?”

               “By grabbing all the forever single attention, and adding no career path to it. I wouldn’t be so proud of that. Aren’t you glad Rachel and I get along now?”

               “Starting to worry about you leaving for my little sister, but yes, I’m really happy you got over whatever it was between you two.”

               “I’d never leave you. I can’t resist your big heart. Besides, no one is more exasperatingly adorable as you.”

               “Good. Here, all done. See, just like I told you, everything went well. I can handle it. Don’t even need NZT. Your mom will get so many compliments for this and she’ll be forced to change her mind about me.”

               “Oh, for sure.”

He was beaming, so happy with himself. He started making his way down, but he got his foot into one of the string lights, tripped and fell over the side of the roof, Rebecca’s scream the only thing that existed anymore.

               “Brian!”

He landed on the ground and he couldn’t say where the pain was coming from, it was all over his body, overwhelming. He tried to focus on Rebecca. On the sound of her steps in the snow as she ran towards him. On the sound of her voice as she asked, again and again, if he was okay. He thought he answered, but maybe he didn’t. He stared at her as she leaned over him, tears brightening her eyes, and her phone glued to the side of her face as she called for an ambulance. He tried to smile to reassure her and she gently let her fingers trace the side of his face, telling him help was coming and it would all be alright. All he had to do was hold on.

Then everything went black.

It was so much worse than last year.

Last year, he’d slipped and landed on his foot that sprained. This time, he got his foot stuck in the lights which caused him to stay suspended for maybe a second before falling head first, bringing all the lights down with him. She ran, yelling, screaming, wishing he’d answer something stupid and witty along the lines of “see, I didn’t slip on the ice this time, it’s completely different.” Anything to show he was fine.

She reached for her phone and called 9-1-1 right away. He lied down on his back, his eyes unfocused, but at least he was looking at her, breathing. That was a start. His face contorted in some kind of expression she thought could be an attempt at a smile, ruined by how much pain he must’ve been in. She brushed her fingers on his cheek, hoping to comfort him.

               “Help is coming, Brian, just hold on. Everything’s gonna be okay. You’re with me, Brian? Hold on. Please. For me.”

When his eyes fluttered shut to not open again, no matter how hard she tried to get any kind of response from him, it felt as though her own heart stopped. Thankfully, she could feel both of their heartbeats going, hers fast as she worried he might’ve broken his back or something even worse, his slow but steady. His breathing was ragged, likely from the shock the fall had on his lungs, but at least it was there.

As she waited for the ambulance to get there, what felt like an eternity later but was in reality only a few minutes, she concentrated on the fact he was still alive. She never let go of his wrist, his pulse grounding her in that important part of reality. She wanted to pull him closer, to hold him warm and close in her arms, but she knew moving him risked making matters worse. So she settled for his hand and his wrist.

The paramedics finally got there. They put a collar on him, tried unsuccessfully to wake him up. When they started moving him, it turned out his arm was broken under him. The bone was poking out. They reset it, put it in a brace and moved Brian to the gurney. They carried him away toward the ambulance and Rebecca found herself frozen in place. She couldn’t help her eyes locking on the patch of red snow he left behind.

One of the paramedics came back, put a hand on her shoulder and asked, ever so lightly, if she wanted to ride with them. She nodded and wiped a tear that had been about to escape her. They told her it was alright to hold his hand and she did. Feeling the warmth of his skin, and his pulse still, brought her just the smallest bit of comfort as they drove to the hospital.

He would be alright. He had to be.

               “It’s okay to let your feelings show, Rebecca. You can’t keep everything inside.” Naz said, after the both of them sat in silence for half an hour, waiting for news it was still too early for.

               “I need to be strong for Brian.”

               “You know that’s not what he’d want.”

               “It seems like if I let myself feel, I’ll break and will never be able to pick myself back up again.”

               “See, that’s the problem. You don’t have to pick yourself back up. I’m here, Boyle’s here, Mike and Ike are here, the Finches are on their way. We’re all here for you. Let us in.”

               “What if he doesn’t make it?”

Her voice broke and Naz pulled her into a hug. She let herself relish in the comforting gesture. She even let herself cry for a little while. It brought her some relief, maybe more than she’d admit.

She was woken by Naz shaking her shoulder. She couldn’t remember when she managed to fall asleep, or who put their coat over her. She looked up, the sight of the doctor standing in front of her quickly ridding her of the haze of sleep.

               “Rebecca Harris?”

               “It’s me. Is Brian okay?”

               “Yes. We managed to repair the damage to his back, there was nothing too major. He arrested during surgery, but he’s stable now. He’ll need a lot of rest, no climbing up a roof anytime soon. Bed rest for a week, and he’ll have to wear the cast on his arm for at least 6 weeks, probably more. But he will make a full recovery.”

               “Can I see him?”

               “Of course.”

Brian smiled when she entered the room. He was laying there, his eyes foggy and heavy from all the painkillers keeping him comfortable, but his face still lit up as soon as she walked in. She couldn’t stop herself from doing the same. She was so relieved. As hurt as he was, as tired as he was, his spirit was still good.

               “I held on.”

His voice sounded rough, but right now it was the best thing she could ever hope to hear. She approached slowly, hesitant as she sat next to him on the bed, afraid the movement would cause him pain. He let his head fall on her shoulder, a sigh of relief escaping his lips when she carefully wrapped an arm around him. He intertwined their fingers, his strong grip all the reassurance she needed to know he was fine.

               “I love you.” He breathed.

               “I love you too.” She answered.

He smiled and cuddled in closer. She had been rubbing his back for less than five minutes when he fell asleep. She followed not long after. Nothing like feeling his warmth against her, knowing he was safe, to make all her worries go away. They were both alright and now they could rest together.

NCT Dream Reaction to Arguing with a S/O

You two rarely got into arguments, due to Mark being usually pretty chill with everything. Though when he blew off a date night where he was supposed to meet your parents to sleep early, you were furious. Yes, in the back of your mind you knew you were wrong to some degree since he’s so overworked, and you understand; but it was also extremely important for your relationship. You couldn’t help feel a little angry that he’s putting rest over your relationship, but you also knew that his health was also incredibly important.For some reason tonight you just couldn’t control your emotions.

“Are you serious?! My parents fly back home TOMORROW!” you yelled.

“I’m sorry! I’m just exhausted! Can’t you understand how hard this is on me? Yes, I want to meet your parents because I love you, but I’m basically falling asleep standing up! There is no way I’d be able to sit through an entire dinner!” Mark rested his palms on his forehead, completely frustrated.

“Well...”

“No, y/n, I’m sorry. I know what I did was stupid, but you have to understand that this is taking a toll on me, and I need to be careful so I don’t overexert myself. Would you rather me have a bad impression on your family, or have me in the hospital sick? I’d hope you’d choose a bad impression. Honestly, I can’t deal with this right now. I’m going to sleep, and if you want to join me for a forgiveness cuddle, you know where I’ll be...” he said.

Even though Mark might not be the most romantic, and a little dense when it comes to relationships... The night did end with you two cuddling and apologizing.

Renjun

It had been a few hours after you argument, which spiralled out of control, and basically had lost all meaning. You both honestly had no idea why you guys were fighting, or how it even started. The slight bickering turned into a full on argument, and got lost in more information.

“Do you even care about our relationship?” you asked.

“What? Where did this come from?!” he threw his hands into the air in confusion.

“Forget it. I’m going home.”

“What? No no no no no wait. You’re not leaving here until the problem is solved. We need to fix this because i’m not letting us leave angry. Just sit down for a few minutes and we’ll talk about this,” Renjun said calmly, grabbing your arm and forcing you to sit on the couch with him.

Renjun is pretty serious about his relationships, and most likely would try to fix the problems, since serious conflict isn’t his cup of tea. If it was a joking argument it wouldn’t be a big deal, but since he’s afraid of loosing you over something stupid, he really acts mature.

Jeno

Jeno is pretty straight-edge. He isn’t called ‘No Fun’ for no reason. When you two got in an argument, he tends to express his anger visually, rather than with words. Once you took your final verbal jab at him, he basically went blank. His eyes glared at you, while his jaw protruded outwards slightly. 

“Forget it,” he muttered. Jeno turned around and was quick to walk away from the situation, slamming his bedroom door behind him. You felt a pang of guiltiness in your stomach. You overreacted quite a bit, and defiantly upset him. It was always best to leave him alone while he was angry, and in the meantime you planned how to beg for his forgiveness. When you were in the wrong he often acted like this, but if it was him who messed up, he would sulk in his room until he knew it was a good enough time to give each other space.

Jeno really is more of a person who seems to avoid confrontation, and would rather give space than risk riling each other up. He respects you, and keeps quite to avoid making the situation worse.

Haechan

Haechan takes shit from nobody. He’s loveable, but he’s also a little shit sometimes. He can easily sass you back at the same level if he wants. So when you two were arguing, you found yourself battling on equal playing fields. When you two fight, you fight until someone finally admits the situation is stupid or they were wrong. He can be a little stubborn, but it’s only when he knows he’s right.  

Even though you fight, his weakness is seeing you cry. The last thing this precious boy wants is to hurt you. So 99% of the time if you want an argument to stop, all you do is burst into tears and he instantly soften ups, wrapping his arms around you and holding you until you stop.

“Come on, you’re being ridiculous!!”

“I’m being ridiculous? Come on, use some common sense here! You know what i’m saying is completely logical!” He said while beginning to raise his voice. His yelling startled you a little, and made you realize this fight was going too far. You put your head down, and let a few tears roll down your cheeks.

“Oh wait, baby don’t cry. Shh, I didn’t mean to yell.” His expression instantly softened, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into a hug. “I’m sorry for yelling...”

“I’m sorry for overreacting Haechannie...” you whispered.

“It’s okay, I forgive you. How about we go grab some dinner, I doubt you’ve eaten already. Okay?” Haechan wiped a tear from your eye, before giving you a soft kiss on the top of your head.

Jaemin

When you and Jaemin argue, it’s a pretty rare occasion. He really isn’t the type to get angry either, and is definitely more of a lover than a fighter. I mean just look at the way he is with Jeno. So one night after a date night, he found himself in a little awkward situation, where he didn’t quite know what to do. 

“Do I look bad today or something?” you asked quietly.

“What? No, why would you ask that?”

“Well during dinner you kept staring at the pretty girl beside us, and you hardly had any focus on me...”

“When did I do that?! I was distracted i’ll admit, but I wasn't NOT paying attention to you,” he said a little puzzled.

“So you WERE staring at her though, you just said you were distracted!”

“Hey I didn’t say I was distracted by her; don’t put words in my mouth!”

You began to pout a little, stomping off to grab your bag and go back home. “Please don’t tell me you’re jealous and going to leave over that!”

“Well then tell me why you were distracted?!” you began to shout. He grabbed your hands to pull you closer and kissed your cheek before starting to dash off. In an instant you started running after him and an attempt to stop him.

“I got your gift for our one year anniversary, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it!” he laughed, avoiding your swinging bag.

Chenle

Just like Haechan, he’s pretty sassy and can roast you out of existents if he wanted. Though when he got in an argument with a significant other, I feel like he’d be a little more on the serious side. Arguments were more expressed with physical actions versus verbal. He has a lot of pride in himself, so he’d try to be mature about situations, especially if he was in a relationship with someone who was older than him. He really tries to show that he can be responsible in serious situations. Though if the fight is about something minor, he’ll just roast you until you give up. Kinda like a pokemon battle. 10/10 will kick your ass.

“Okay I know you’re upset, but please just sit down and talk with me. If we’re going to be a couple we need to work on our differences.”

“Well maybe we should just...”

“Don't say anything and just please sit down. I’ll explain everything, and then we can talk about it. You’re my first real relationship, and i’m not losing you over some stupid fight.”

((Boy i’m trying so hard not to make this into a crack reaction. Almost turned Chenle’s into a snickers commercial with a “You’re not you when you’re hungry™”))

Jisung

(An actual baby)

You are most likely his first real relationship, so fighting with a significant other was so new to him. When you got angry, he honestly didn't know what to do. The arguments were mainly one sided, and he often would stand there feeling a little hurt while you would do the talking. Jisung is definitely more of the silent one when it comes to arguments. 

I’m sorry Jisung’s is so short! My computer keeps crashing, and i’ve re written his scenario over 4 times, and I no longer have the will to write it a 5th time.

So this ep was nice. At first I was like why is Lena having this talk with William and not Kara but I actually liked that he was able to help her out. Also, it's good that there are more character combinations than before.

I love that Kara and Lena disagreed but were still able to talk it out. Everything abt that was perfect, their disagreement in public, Nia acting like the elder sibling taking away William like "let's let our mums talk". Totally married vibes there. Also, the dansen banter while fighting was cute. Was I the only one who wondered why Hank didn't use his power to calm everyone down. Also, is it me or has Brainy really been absent this half-season? I'm even wondering if he and Nia are still dating.

Esme is pretty cute and I can't wait to see her join the dansen family.

Also, about the supercorp kiss, it didn't happen unfortunately. That scene didn't appear at all. However, I'm just going to take what I have now, read fanfic and enjoy the last eps. I still think it's a waste that supercorp is not going canon but at least I'm surrounded by thousands of different stories, fanart, fanvids etc abt them. I don't need canon.

Okay. I loved this ep. And we all knew that Supergirl would win the hope totem. I even like that they showed that Nyxly recognised that. Also loved Alex and Kelly as parents and how they adjust to it. At first, they make misyakes but then they make up for it. They along with Esme are so cute. (A random thought, do Dreamer and Brainy alternate episodes?)

And now Supercorp. Ooh are we thriving. They were on the same page, Kara constantly came to Lena for support and comfort. Lena gave Kara advise that she eventually followed. Lena spoke kryptonian. They were just such a unit. I've been so happy these past 3(?) weeks because Kara and Lena together are great. However, can they hurry along Lena's magical plot. It's almost the end of the series and it still isn't really working. Last episode it made things worse, this episode it barely works? I just want to see powerful with Lena, is that too much to ask for.

And I know these eps aren't perfect, there's enough flaws to talk about but I loved it and that's what I'm going to focus on. I'll just enjoy the show‐and the fandom‐to the very end

Was so excited. Just watched supergirl live which I've never done cos I live in the uk. It was a solid episode, enjoyed the talk abt the environment and that Zor-El didn't just fix it in one ep. But his solution had a point and I hope the season takes the fixing the environment idea further.

Also, supercorp hug? My heart.

So this episode was great. Continuing the storyline from last episode and showing how problems can still occur even after supposed happy end and how systemic problems can drain a person, Kara stepping aside to highlight someone else, Kelly using ingenuity to solve problems, Nyxly using ingenuity to solve problems, highlighting that it was hubris and not ignorance that led to Nia making the deal with Nyxly, more progress into Nia and her dreamer storyline, Kara actually doing research and paperwork, the psa was golden etc

I loved this episode, only thing missing was Lena. I loved that it ended on a cliffhanger and that the villain's plan worked (although i hope it will be reversed next week). Am I the only one who wishes Nyxly was the season villain and not Lex (again).

PS: As a supercorp stan, Brainy and Kara have such great chemistry. I would have actually welcomed them as a couple. But he and Nia are perfect together and I don't want that to end. Seriously, if TPTB wanted a hetero relationship for Kara why didn't they go with the mysterious ally route where her LI was a good guy who helped Kara but his origins were unknown and Kara had to find out where he came from but it didn't end up being something like he was a slave owner. There were so many possibilities why did they always go for the enemies to lovers route when they are horrible at writing it.

The way lena held her arms when kara was recovering from her fall. Trying so hard not to touch, to hold herself together because if she touched her even for one second, she would explode. So she stood there trying to keep her composure waiting for the device, for science, to explain what happened to Kara and when it couldn't that's when she knew that she needed to accept magic. So that she could never watch supergirl fall out of the sky again.

i am a little worried because i don't think i can solve this. i'm not lonely “emotionally” (i mean, sometimes i am but it's different, i have enough friends to feel loved etc etc), i'm lonely physically.

i don't have any friends around my hometown (i'm 99% serious, i literally only have one friend there but she studies in another city and she isn't the kind of friend i need to fight the loneliness i'm talking about anyway) and i don't have (m)any friends in the city where i study (i have two friends there, one is barely more than an acquaintance and i have no idea how to get closer to her, the other is a proper friend but we don't see each other as often as we could + we're not that close yet). i really struggle with making friends irl. i'm a pretty social person when someone puts me in the position to be social, but 1. i don't look for these situations by myself so i need someone else to drag me around and make me meet their friends (which is hard when you have half a friend), and 2. i really have no idea how to go from there, from acquaintances to friends, i don't know how to keep up conversations with people who aren't already my friends unless something really sparks between us/we immediately find many things to talk about (which is probably why i've made most of my important friendships through fandom). and then when i make friends but i'm not really comfortable with them yet, i second guess everything and don't ask them to hang out as often as i'd like because i'm afraid of being clingy.

so yeah, i have no idea how to solve this problem.

but i'm really really touch starved AND Quality Time With Friends starved. i need to spend time with people (outside of classes). i need to feel comfortable enough with more than one person so i can spend time with them. ask them to hang out. but this can only happen with people who live close to me, which means i have to make friends, and as we established i suck at it.

but even then, quality time is not enough because not everyone's affection can placate my touch starvation. i have a friend at uni who hugs me when we meet before class, but their hugs do nothing, they're just a way of greeting them for me. while yesterday my best friend (i'm spending the weekend with her) was touching my arm and putting her head on my shoulder and my whole body ignited. today i managed to get two hugs from her and i wanted to never let go. take permanent residence in her arms. not all my friends have this effect, so making friends isn't necessarily the solution (BUT it would at least be the solution to wanting Quality Time With People, so it would be a start).

the topic is way more complicated but i'm tired and i'm worried because i really feel like shit and i can't see a solution.

because even if i could get all the physical affection i want from my best friend (and i'm not getting it because in the past she used to have a worse relationship with touch and i was too clingy and too needy with her, and even now that it got better i'm still afraid to bother her and i'm too emotionally constipated to ask for cuddles), we don't live close, which means i'll be back at feeling lonely the moment i leave (i leave in 8 hours, most of which will be spent sleeping).

so yeah. i need to make more friends (who live CLOSE to me) because i need to hang out with them, and i have to hope to find the kind of physical intimacy i crave somewhere.

i want the hugs that never end and move your entire soul, i want to curl up next to someone while we watch a movie, heads on shoulders, sharing a blanket, i want to take a nap with someone next to me, i want to cry with someone's hand on my back, i want i want i want.

will i ever stop feeling lonely all the fucking time?
