Alex was getting fed up with this headless woman. First she stole his head, then she started playing with it! Ignoring his pleas for her to stop, all Alex could do was mutter and complain to himself... Until suddenly his head was shoved onto new shoulders! This sequence was based on an old post by one of my artist friends, DaFuze! He recently deleted his Deviantart gallery, but I think you can still find it in some places! I had a lot of fun working on it! I view it kind of as a spiritual successor to dullahan dilemma. I've always been fascinated by the concept of head swapping and head stealing and symbiosis so, this exemplifies those ideas for me! I hope you all enjoyed it!

Happy New Year!

And forecast! I said it on Patreon, I'll say it over here. I'm not doing a "Look Back" kind of thing because yea no. 2023 was not that year. It was helpful in terms of lessons but work wise, I'm not proud of it whatsoever.

This post is just going to pretty much detail what the year may hold. Understand, I can barely forecast what I'm going to eat so this is a general forecast. There's only one thing that I know 100% is going to be done.

Superstition

This. This is the 100%. I don't care if I have to enter one of the most toxic ass relationships with this damn season, I will finish it. It shouldn't have gone on this long. Like, my god.

Throne of Ashes

I can confidently say that I do believe Nour and perhaps Ozara will see a release. Maybe. Nour definitely, Ozara at least will get a good sized dent in her story.

Sea of Stars

Of course, you will not be seeing it this year. Mostly because the focus will be on other things and the book is still pretty young. So, not much to say there.

Anything Else

I'm happy to say that besides one other project, which you guys are familiar with (RoA), no new projects are anywhere on the horizon. Which is great, cos I need that. The most you'll see from Riders of Abauruth is a survey that will be released maybe in March ... or April. Depends on how the brainstorming on Patreon goes really. I had to do something for RoA with it being the year of the dragon. Sorry not sorry. But that's it really.

Obviously I'll be doing more forecasts, maybe not every month because sometimes nothing of great importance happens and I doubt folks care about me talking about my 20k monthly writing session.

With me getting back into the groove of it all. I'm going to also pay more attention here and give sneak peeks. It won't be on the level that I give patreon but the blog needs some love. I'll also probably give more prompts out as well. They won't be always, but more than what I was doing which was none unless someone requested it and I was in the mood.

Online shop updated!

I kinda neglected updating and promoting my online shop, but I put some work into it today, adding new prints, keychains and stickers, and finding a cuter layout!

I added the Falin and Laios prints that people have been asking for, as well as MLP and Eeveelution stickers. I also restocked most of my keychains and added Vampirka and Y2K Anasui charms!

There is also a new batch of greatly discounted A3 prints of some pieces I won't be reprinting, which I want to sell fast so that I can make space for new stuff.

I ALSO restocked my DIO fashion zine! There are 10 books available.

Lastly, I decided to offer tattoo tickets, as I've had a few people express interest in that.

I've also been wondering if I should occasionally offer some of my original ink drawings in my shop, perhaps selling some of my old JJBA inktober pieces from 2018. Would anyone be interested in that?

And since I'm promoting myself, might as well finish this by mentioning I have a Patreon where I share very frequent WIPs and post finished pieces much earlier than on my other social media. $5 tier members get access to a discord channel where they can submit priority requests on my somewhat-monthly request streams.

Hey guys! I'm putting out a call for my commissions again for two big reasons: One, Emergencies have caused me to be low on funds when I wasn't expecting it, and that kind of sucks actually. Two, I have a project that I've been dreaming about for years but have actually been able to start working towards in the last couple of months, but to finish it I need to not be living paycheck to paycheck for like a month at the very least, which brings me back to point one :(. I will talk more about the big project under the cut, bc I think it's something you all might really enjoy!

Ok now for big Project Time!!!

I am in the process of editing and revising my first Youtube video! This has been an on and off dream of mine for like 7 years at this point, but I've finally taken the plunge and gotten to work on a channel. I wanna talk about all sorts of fandoms (including the riordanverse ofc) With videos ranging from plot and character analysis, to trends in fandom culture in general, to fun little ranking videos and speedpaints. All around, I just want the channel to be a fandom hive, where everyone can find something they enjoy.

I already have PNG's created of my sona to use as assets (And I have a sparkly new sona, the one in the pic above!) and I have two finished scripts, with the first one being fully recorded as well! One for my first video, which will be a retrospective on Gravity Falls, and one for a video about the Percy Jackson TV show, the inherent differences between TV and books as mediums, how I think the TV show could improve, and the things I think it got perfectly. I also have a bunch more ideas, such as:

BIG Trials of Apollo video essay, with a focus on how the books and the fandom have effected me over the years.

Ranking all of my favorite characters from all of the media I've been a fan of over the years (This would be over 70 characters)

Explaining the Iliad, but make it funny (with a side of Troy apologia)

Reading Lore Olympus and pointing out how it deviates from myth (the things I'm willing to do for you people /j)

Canon vs. Fanon, where I compare a characters canon characterization with their fanon counterpart and try to figure out how things turned out the way they did.

And more, but I don't want this post to be 5000 words long.

Now here's the big question. As I said in the part above, I'm struggling a bit now money-wise. And I really wanna make this project work, but there's also, you know. Tuition. Rent. Food. Stupid other adult stuff. So if anyone is amenable (and this is totally up to demand, I don't wanna pressure anyone into doing anything!) I was also thinking of maybe making a Patreon. Now, I'd have to do research for this, bc I wanna make sure anyone who signed up would get the right rewards and really get the bang for their buck. I'm pretty sure there's not gonna be much interest in this rn, cuz like, I'm not that big of a blog oof. But if anyone is interested! Here are some of the perks I would definitely be implementing! (sry it's another list)

Early access to videos, and behind the scenes looks at art assets and video creation

Patrons names being shown in the videos. And higher tiered patrons getting custom chibis that will be shown in videos as well (and given to the patrons obv)

This ones a bit complicated, but I want to create a cover of a song that has to do with each video to play during their outros. So like, for the gravity falls video, I'm gonna record a quick cover of the Disco Girl song from the show. Only a small section of the song would be in each video, but patrons would get access to the full covers, and be able to request songs to be covered.

Discounts on commissions

A monthly speedpaint that would be exclusive to patreon. Patrons would be able to vote on what the drawing would be.

All of these ideas I'm 100% sure I want to add to a patreon if I make one, but obv there could be more that comes up later. I'm just gauging interest on this idea rn, so let me know if that's something you'd be down to sign up for! Maybe I'm jumping the gun here but I'm just really excited to create and give back to the community and aaahhhhh

Now, no matter what, I'm gonna have this first video out by mid-September at the latest. Because stupid money troubles are not gonna stop me from making this a thing dangit. So look out for that, I'll link the vid here when it releases! But I am just really stressed rn and any support would go a long way towards making this dream come true. Max's decision to retire was a long thought one. His entire life was made up of racing; of course, it'd be difficult to let it go. But it's been good. It's been a while. He thinks he deserves this.

The news came unexpectedly; it's not surprising to others that he'd retire soon though. It's been years since he first started, and he's expressed multiple times how he didn't think his career was going in the right direction despite winning more championships. The press, the marketing, everything but the racing made it difficult.

It's time to step down.

January 2025 Announcements and Retrospection

Rolling into the new year! Gonna start the announcements, then go a bit into how the year's gone afterward.

January's Poll will be up shortly! The winning theme is "Game Over," and I will go into detail on the poll post. One that could be fun with a broad scope!

December's Patreon Fills are still in Progress! I have the last 2 sketched and partly lined, so they'll be done this or next week.

Commissions are still Open! Comms are still a bulk of my monthly income, so i'm still accepting submissions, even if you're already on the list! I understand the wait time is long, but all commissioners are free to add to, adjust, or change orders they've already made at any time! A new Reward Request Post will be going up! Patrons are free to leave one in there even if you already have one from last month's! November's requests will have expired though! Alright! So 2024. 😅 This was honestly a pretty disappointing year for several reasons (July and November come to mind), but there are some upsides! I managed to wipe out a few debts to help me make the money i need per month a bit more easily in the final couple months... though part of that was negated because rent went up. 😒

I've unfortunately not been able to save up to go visit my boyfriend, and had very little time to indulge personal projects. The one I did start (my OC height chart) is still missing some boys! I'm hoping I can at least squeeze some of that in and also save up to fly north once this year. While I'm not finishing as many commissions as I'd like, I did knock out a bit more than 30 orders, while also filling 78 stream requests! That's very much not nothing, and I'm pleased with the work that i have finished. (Gotta keep score for my own health, haha). That said, I'm gonna still try to do my best to try to catch up a bit more this year I'm going to try to be a bit more engaging on social media as well, especially after the big exodus from, well, X.

I really couldnt have made it without my most faithful patrons and customers, so a big thanks to you guys as well! I'm being tentatively optimistic despite it all, so let's try to make it to 2026 now, yeah?

if you use a site like redbubble or something you just need the design and they'll only actually make the stuff that someone has already bought, so you don't need to have an inventory or anything (also, i have in fact had stuffed shipped to brazil and the cost wasn't that high lol). i also know some youtubers/podcasters commission art related to them/their content and sell it as their own merch, but idk if it's a one-off payment or the artist gets a cut of each sale.

as for a patreon kind of thing, ik time is an issue, so it could be a monthly/bimonthly extra episode, or maybe just a stream - which you don't have to edit, and people can interact real time. and the content there doesn't even have to be related to the main podcast for people to be interested enough to pay for, 'tis the age of parasocial relationships, i know of true crime podcasters that have paid content that's just them talking about relationship woes and current events. but you could do stuff on topics that are tangentially related but not royal enough to make it to the podcast. maybe a "this month in deposed royal families", or drama that went nowhere but was big/funny at the time, or random deep dives into historical stuff (and if it ever become relevant to the main podcast you can just release the content publicly, because the patrons are paying for the certainty, not the exclusivity).

and if you want to start small and see how many people would be willing/able to just pay for what we already get you can have a early release on the patreon that's just one/two days before it goes public. it's great that you two don't want to deprive people who can't pay of content, but you also already put so much effort into making the podcast, i'm sure there's plenty of listeners who would love to give something in return already!

Yes! Redbubble is the kind of site I looked at before. A lot of them take commission at point of sale so you don't have any upfront costs which is good. And your experience of getting things to Brazil is very helpful haha. I think as long as you have a clear agreement with the artist up front then it's fine but Grace is also very nifty at the creative stuff. And I know how to download a free font for a basic slogan t-shirt even with my lack of creative skills lol.

I think the idea of having something go out early is interesting. I'd have to speak to Grace as it might limit our time to listen back (I always send the episode to Grace so she can listen before it goes out in case she regrets something she said etc) but I'm much faster now and usually the episode is finished Tuesday night so I could release it 24 hours early. We could also do voting on topics as someone else suggested, or voting on the episode name. So that's got potential. I guess for me it's just understanding appetite because I'm never going to pay anyone for early access to anything but I also didn't want episodes to be over an hour and it was the most requested thing so I don't really know what people like!!

That's very kind of you :) I'm very British and so the idea of expecting money in return for something that isn't a traditional, salaried job is just very bizarre and uncomfortable for me. The concept of "hustling" isn't in our DNA haha. At the same time I know people get paid tons of money to do podcasts even though they don't research, produce, edit or promote it themselves - which we do. And I don't want to be one of those people who gets greedy and drives away listeners who were engaged and supportive from the earliest episodes just because of their finances. So if we can find a way to do it that isn't too time intensive and doesn't push listeners away unfairly, that's great. I just don't know what people would be willing to pay for so it's helpful to hear from you all :)

Finished mystery eggs for @aspect-rei . Can you tell that I have a favorite of this batch? Because I definitely do.

For the first one, Rei wanted a wolf and I haven't done a cute wolf gal in a while, so I was more than happy to do that. I was also super excited to draw a victorian-style dress, which Rei requested.

The second gal is a cat plague doc. A bit of a tomboy, she's kind of unsure of herself but has alot of heart!

And then my favorite. Rei wanted an "old man paladin" and I LOVED the idea of an old weathered corvid. This guy is based off of a eurasian jay and I LOVE HIM~!
