Sleeping Tennant (Part Four) …or maybe “Waking up” is a more appropriate title for most of this set

So huh... I just finished Good Omens season 2. Yeah, I didn't need my heart anyway.
S1 didn't really do much for me. It was fine and fun and silly, but damn, season 2... this is good good! It's a favourite show now, for sure. Such good writing, funny silly things mixed with good moral discussions and a lot of feels and then bam! Punch to the face. Fractuded nose. Blood everywhere. The bullet hit.
And Sheen and Tennant just kept reminding us how good at their job they are. Such wonderful actors. The best of the best.
Ok, I'm gonna cry myself to sleep now. Bye 😭❤️‍🩹

My opinion on some of the Netflix Sandman rumors
We fans don’t have much in the way of substantial news about The Sandman Netflix series.  All we have are rumors and gossip.   I have compiled some of the rumors here along with my opinions on those rumors.  Consider this a disclaimer.  I am only a fan.  I do not have any inside info.   All the rumors here are ones that can easily be found on various sites online.   Now to begin...
Rumor: Morpheus will be captured in 1916 but will not escape until present day.
This rumor has been confirmed true by Neil Gaiman on his Tumblr account and other Social media websites.  In my opinion this was wise because it enables Morpheus’ capture to continue to overlap with the real-world sleeping sickness outbreak of Encephalitis Lethargica.
Rumor:  Michael Sheen is playing Lucifer.
Tumblr media
This rumor was debunked months ago by Neil Gaiman but I surmised that the one who started the rumor had found out he was playing Lucifer for The Sandman audio drama and had gotten confused.  I was right.   I DO however suspect Michael Sheen and possibly David Tennant will have roles in The Sandman Netflix series, just not the same role Michael Sheen had in the audio drama.
My Opinion: I’m all for Michael Sheen having a role in The Sandman Netflix series.  Him and David Tennant.
Rumor: Doug Jones is going to be in The Sandman as a supporting character.
This rumor comes from two clues.  The first being that Neil Gaiman has spoken about his like of Doug Jones and Guillermo Del Toro almost did a Sandman adaptation with Doug as Morpheus.  Doug Jones even brought this up recently, which suggests that the subject might be on mind.
My opinion:  Doug is an excellent character actor and I want this to be true.  He should be in Sandman.  I love Doug. And there are plenty of characters he could play.  Lucien, Mervyn Pumpkinhead, Doctor Destiny, various nightmares.
Rumor:  Liam Hemsworth or Dacre Montgomery will play The Corinthian.
Opinion: I like Liam Hemsworth.  He deserves a shot but Dacre is also good.
Rumor:  Tom Sturridge is playing Morpheus.
Opinion:  I am 90% sure this rumor is true. There are a number of sources claiming the same thing.  Also just google how the man looks.  I think he’ll do a fine job.  I thought Oliver Farnworth would have been excellent too but I’m sure Tom Sturridge would be fine.
Tumblr media
Rumor:  The Netflix Sandman series will see Dream take many forms including a female form.
Opinion:  This isn’t really new.  We saw Dream’s feminine side in Overture.  If it bothers you to see Morpheus might have a feminine side, you probably shouldn’t be watching something like Sandman anyway.
Tumblr media
Rumor:  Death will be played by a black woman.
The source of this rumor comes from Neil Gaiman saying something about loving the actress chosen for Death but feeling some people will complain.
Opinion:   ...So?   She’s an Endless.  She can look any way she wants.  I would have liked to have seen Jamie Chung in the role though.  She voiced her for the Death short that accompanied the Wonder Woman: Bloodlines Blu Ray.
Rumor:  Morpheus’ extended capture will effect his reunion with Hob.
My opinion:  Uhhhh Duh.
Honestly though this makes me VERY curious as to how their reunion will play out. I hope it is just as sweet as the comic.
Rumor:  The Corinthian will appear fairly early in the series and even advise Roderick Burgess how best to contain Morpheus.
Tumblr media
Opinion: Well, according to the leaked Corinthian audition this is true.  I don’t mind it at all.  It makes sense. It fits.
Rumor:  Alexander Burgess’ story is now more sympathetic and he as well as his father will age slower because of Morpheus’ capture.
Opinion:  This seems likely based on certain leaks.  And I kind of hope this means Morpheus will be able to punish Roderick and not Alex.
Rumor:  Alex will now have an older brother who died during World War 1, a brother that Roderick preferred, and he takes out his grief on Alex in abusive ways. it also gives Roderick a new motivation for wanting to capture Death.
Opinion: This is likely true based on certain leaks from last February.  I have mixed feelings about this because sometimes parents are just assholes.  They don’t need a tragic loss to set off their abusive behavior.  It also made Roderick worse (in the comics) that he treated his only (known) son the way he did. It’s been recently established in the comics that John Dee was actually Alex’s half-brother.  I guess it all depends on how this is done.
I also don’t think Roderick needs to be grief stricken in order to want to control Death.   This is a cliché, a cliché we saw in Disney’s Gargoyles and even in Hercules and Xena.  Someone loses someone they love and tries to capture Death in order to bring them back.  Roderick doesn’t need this trope.  He was an occultist who wanted to be a big shot in the world of early twentieth century magick users. In my opinion that should be enough but I’ll keep an open mind.
Rumor:   They were supposed to start filming in May but it was delayed to late October because of Covid.
This one is true.
Opinion:  Hurry up!
Rumor:   Roderick Burgess has no real magick in the show.
Opinion: Sadly this is likely true based on a character description leak from the casting call.  I shall miss seeing Sykes’ head explode...  Honestly I kind of hope this is wrong.  I’m tired of magick being diminished in comic book TV and film.
Rumor:  The first season of Sandman will combine Preludes and Nocturnes with The Doll’s House.
Opinion:  This is likely true.  I’m fine with it.  It might flow better for TV this way.
Rumor:   The “A game of you” storyline will have trans people writing.
Opinion:  This makes sense  And this is pretty much already confirmed true.
Rumor:  The Netflix show will have the same cast as the audio drama.
Opinion: Though I would not mind this, I know it is not true. This is likely the result of an IMDB listing for the audio drama mistakenly calling it a show and some fans mistaking that IMDB page as being the one for the Netflix series.
Rumor: The Netflix Sandman series is canceled and the audio drama is all we’re getting.
This rumor is absolutely false!    It’s a stupid rumor made by those who had no idea the audio drama was happening before the pandemic even hit.   The audio drama is not compensation because there will not be a Netflix show.  Both will exist.
Opinion:  Shame on those leaping to this conclusion and spreading it as fact.
Rumor: A character named “Ann” is being cast and she’ll be a major recurring character.
Opinion:  I’ve seen this sort of thing before.  It’s how you hide what character they are trying to cast.  Clearly this is a major female character for the show and probably was a name used as a place holder for Death of The Endless or even Rose Walker.  I’m not too concerned about this.  Some fans are upset and already raging that they’re making up a new character just for the show, ala Chloe Decker in Lucifer.  I don’t think there’s anything to worry about here.
Rumor:   Tom Ellis will not be playing Lucifer.
Opinion:  Tom Ellis has wanted to move on from Lucifer for a while.  He wants season six of Lucifer to be its last.   Let him move on. Neil Gaiman also wants his Lucifer to be different from the Lucifer TV show version.  The Lucifer TV series deviated heavily from the comics and it might confuse people with the big differences in lore.  It is probably for the best that Tom Ellis not play Lucifer.
Rumor:  The Sandman is why Lucifer is being canceled.
Opinion: No.  Lucifer has been canceled three times now. In fact the first time it was canceled The Sandman TV series had not been picked up by Netflix yet.  Lucifer has had six seasons.  For a paranormal police procedural that’s a good, long, run.  Not everything can be Supernatural.   Forever Knight (and most shows of that type) only had three seasons.  Lucifer out lived the norm for its type of show and survived two cancelations.   Let it go.   Do not blame Sandman.  The Sandman is what gave us Lucifer, not took it away.  The Sandman is where the story of Lucifer quitting, opening Lux, and taking up piano came from.
Rumor:  The Sandman is the most expensive show DC has ever made.
According to Variety this is true.
Opinion:  It probably has to be expensive.  Look at all the stuff they need to show us, the sets and special effects needed.
Rumor:  Lucien might be played by a woman.
Apparently this rumor started because some of the Morpheus auditioners let slip that they auditioned with a woman as Lucien.
Opinion: I’m not sure how I feel about this.  I love the character of Lucien.  A a woman version might take a little getting used to. I don’t hate the idea, I just prefer how he appears in canon.   Further note, I kind of hope he has a full head of hair like he does in the recent comics.  There is a very high chance she was just reading his lines since at the time the role being cast was Morpheus, not Lucien.
Rumor:  The Sandman could air as early as Summer of 2021.
Opinion:  *Insert bitter laugh here.* I wish...
Rumor:   Alexander Burgess is gay.
Opinion: And in other news water is wet!
Rumor: Desire will be played by someone who identifies as Genderfluid or nonbinary.
Opinion: This is very likely true.

10 Favorite Characters
oh no i’ve been noticed @wisteria-lodge tagged me so let’s do this!
(this isn’t in a particular order, also I decided to do one character per fandom.
10. Sophie Hatter (from the Howl’s Movie Castle film, not the book. idk why but I just never got into her like I did her film counterpart)
Oh Sophie my love, crippled by anxiety and insecurity only to be freed of them and show just how spunky and cunning and full of life you are. Honestly my favorite scene in the movie is just when she’s cleaning the whole house because she has so much character and she just makes me feel great. Honestly this whole movie gives me those warm, fuzzy feelings.
(Sidenote, recently rewatched it and damn there are so many details you can miss. Like, Sophie is already starting to throw off the curse and get younger by the time she’s at Howl’s door!)
((Sidenote sidenote, after watching Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Princess Mononoke all in the span of two days I realized in Ghibli movies they tend to have side characters state outright that the main leads are in love with each other which? Idk if it actually is a trend but it’s something I just picked up on)
Tumblr media
9. Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson Series & Heroes of Olympus...I never could get into Trials of Apollo)
My. First. Love. For a fandom, for a book series that was slightly more adult, for a character. Percy is so badass and also so so loyal and amazing and I love him. I’m hardpressed to actually talk about him because just thinking about him makes me a little incoherent since I’ve loved him for so long.
Tumblr media
8. Marinette Dupain-Cheng (Miraculous Ladybug)
For all my beef with Miraculous right now I still love my beautiful daughter. She’s so intelligent and good and badass. Oh my god some of her plans are so smart you wonder why she’s stuck with everyone around her. I’d die for Marinette even if she’d die for me. She’s my girl and I’d follow her to the ends of the earth. I have so many fics for her planned that I will never write. Also I freaking relate to every anxiety attack she ever has and she needs to be appreciated more and treated better. Not by the fandom, by the creators.
Tumblr media
7. Lucifer (Lucifer)
A CHARACTER! THAT GOES TO THERAPY! Not just that lol. He’s just so charismatic and nice for all his devilish (literally) qualities. And also I know this shouldn’t factor in but SWEET JESUS TOM ELLIS IS HOT! His face, his body, his hair, his voice, his ass. Also I love every moment he sings and plays the piano. And HE NEEDS TO COME BACK RIGHT NOW! I DON’T CARE THAT DEMONS ARE STUPID AND NEED A KING HE NEEDS TO COME BACK! CHLOE FINALLY SAID SHE LOVES YOU!
Tumblr media
6. Crowley (Good Omens)
The facts are I love me my sinnamon rolls. I love Crowley because he’s just so damn badass. He’s so smart and resourceful and I LOVE HIS PLANTS! Also I support all the headcanons about all the people over the centuries he inspired. ALSO ALSO I FUCKING RELATE! My best friend/crush rebuffs me and says we aren’t friends and my immediate reaction is to sleep until he needs me to save his dumbass. And he’s David Tennant how can you not love anyone David Tennant.
Tumblr media
5. Kenny McCormick (South Park)
I don’t care that I put South Park here it’s my list and I can do what I want! Kenny is frankly just so dynamic and good. Like, Mysterion saving his sister from bullies or getting a job so he buy a doll for her??? And the fact he actually hates dying and the creators actually acknowledge it several times??? Even though it was just supposed to be a funny joke??? And holy crap he’s just a good, pervy, boy.
Tumblr media
4. Hermione Granger (The Harry Potter BOOKS not the movies)
I almost didn’t put Hermione because recently I’ve been having very mixed and complicated thoughts on the franchise as a whole but it doesn’t change the fact that Hermione is sharp and ruthless and brilliant. Hermione could kick my ass and I would not thank her but I would tell her she has a mean right hook and that she was very badass. Part of the reason I like her I think is because I literally am Hermione.
(Sidenote don’t you miss when they had Hermione’s hair actually curly and frizzy back in the movies)
((Sidenote Sidenote, in case you’re wondering I was going to put Jareth from The Labyrinth originally))
Tumblr media
3. Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean-except for Dead Men Tell No Tales that wasn’t Jack Sparrow that was the writers deciding to write Jack Sparrow as nothing but drunk and washed up because they had no idea how to make the new characters shine without dulling Jack Sparrow even though they did it just fine in the first three-)
As this list falls down (reference to Labyrinth ;)) I find myself more hard pressed to find favorite characters. I’m not so good at this as I thought. I either overthink them or just can’t decide. And Jack might be here only because I recently watched all the movies for the first time finally but whatever-I love him. He’s smart, cunning, a badass, and he just gives me feelings whenever he looks out to the sea or at Elizabeth or Will. AND ALSO ALSO he gives me feelings when in Stranger Tides even if I don’t like that movie because he shows he has a heart when he saves the crew and won’t let them die. But also fuck everything with him and Angelica, I didn’t believe for one second there were and had been stirrings between them ESPECIALLY when it all leads up to him leaving her on the island and never seeing her again!
I had...A lot of feelings with those last two movies.
Tumblr media
2. Catra (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)
OKAY I SAY I HAD TROUBLE BUT REALLY THESE LAST TWO I KNEW IMMEDIATELY I WOULD PUT THEM DOWN. I just wanted to put them as 2nd 1st. Catra is a character who makes cry every time she’s on screen. She never fails to send me spiraling and I love her because she’s so complex and amazing. Catra trying so hard to be bad when really she is a better person than she gives herself credit for moves me and hurts me. I love her
Tumblr media
1. Bakugou Katsuki (Boku No Hero Academia)
Anyone who knows me knows he would top this list. My favorite boy. Who ALSO sends me spiraling without fail. My thing for characters who make me spiral might be an indication of my self destructive tendencies. But I love him, he makes me laugh, he makes me cry, he makes me go doki-doki. He’s such a badass and so smart and legit he’s so hot. I have so many fucking headcanons about him and so many fic ideas which I will never post-I just can’t get over him.
(Sidenote there are legit so many good Bakugou gifs...Like I can’t get over how pretty he is!!)
Tumblr media
I’m tagging... @queenofthefaces @fiddler-unroofed @bipolarchick18 @apollosukulele @bestprincesslys aaaaand anyone else who sees this!!!

Hi, I’m back and ready to ramble a little about my impressions on HTTYD3: The Hidden World. Spoilers ahead.
First of all, I have to talk about a couple of things: all of you know how much HTTYD means for me, I’m writing this three days after watching the movie and relying on my notes and my memory (which is not bad but isn’t perfect either) and I watched the movie in 4DX 3D, so it was much more inmersive. Ok, here we go:
I really liked the DreamWorks logo, it seemed fitting with the style of the movie, or maybe just an hommage for Cressida Cowell. Either way, it looked great. But, no “This is Berk” intro? I have  the feeling that there was something off in this movie. I’ll get to that towards the end. Anyway, although weird, that intro worked fine and I just love see them fighting. My only problem is that we’ve seen them working as a team lots of times. But maybe the armors make that a little more difficult. I don’t know. And I don’t know why they have to take ALL of the rescued dragons to Berk. Yes, it’s the new dragon sanctuary, but Berk is not suited for ALL those dragons. There were merely five or six native species, so is not a perfect habitat for the rest of them. I mean, Toothless, as the Alpha, could have set the sanctuary in a group of islands, so there’ll be no space problem. Also, most of Berk are new houses. Who is these people? You don’t duplicate your population in just a year. Or the houses are for the dragons? Moving on, I don’t really get why Hiccup and Astrid don’t want to get married. I thought that was something that was going to be worked out (if I recall correctly, Astrid was the one who had the problem) but that just dissappeared (just like the “working as a team” problem and the “you’re nothing without Toothless”). As you can see, my main problem is that the story throws you a lot of different elements but then most of them are forgotten, and some are very important regarding the end.
Grimmel was really well animated and I liked his backstory, it was so clever to have a villain like that. But I think I’ve grown accostumed to the DreamWorks series, where a villain is introduced, hated and conquered in a group of episodes and the finales run about 40 minutes at least. But movies can do that too, they can tell a great story in less than two hours, and I feel like we should have seen more of Grimmel, and Drago and the hunters in general. I would have prefer to skip Drago and have Grimmel in the two movies.
I’m going to pause here and talk about the characters. Hiccup was ok. He’s the same dork with insecurities and he seems to have learnt a lot after the Drago fiasco. It looks like he’s being a good chief (except for the dragon overpopulation) and I loved to see him at the forge again. His armor is a little odd, I prefer the HTTYD2 one, but his other clothes were so cool. Infant Hiccup is so cute and I loved seeing him in two and not just one flashback. The Nadder plushie was a good touch, but I was sure it was lost at the sea long ago. Astrid... oh, how to put it? I feel like, in these last two movies, she’s been more like a hand to hold or something like that. Yes, she has some great action scenes, but I’d like to see more of her, her family and her relationship with Stormfly and her new General Hoff status. Just more. Her clothes are a little off too, and I’m talking about the hair. She’s a warrior, and long flowing hair doesn’t look fitting. Also, wasn’t she wearing a ponytail in the first poster? Her hairstyles are a current problem. Her wedding dress is ok, more traditional viking, but I’m ok with that and I’m looking forward to the furried cape and all the metal stuff. But then, at  the end, after at least five years after all, she has only changed her vest (which is blue and beatiful) and has no bangs! Astrid without bangs. Seriously? Of course she’s still going to look amazing after having two kids, but I expected her clothes to be quite different. I’m not sure if I want to cosplay that version. Well, just a rant more about clothes and I’m done. Even though I think Grimmel was so interesting, I just don’t get his clothes, with little belts just like Hiccup (ok, ok,  it’s because they share a simmilar story) and that long cloack, which works fine for the character, but if they had given him longer hair, he would look like he’s from a videogame. The gang suffers a lot from the lack of time, but I’m going to start with the twins. They have a lot of screen time and although I don’t care much about Tuffnut talking with Hiccup (if Fishlegs is really his best friend, it should have been him the one that talks about the wedding), Ruffnut was great. They really gave Kristen an opportunity to shine. My only problem is that she seems to have forgot about Eret. She says that all the guys are in love with her, but we don’t see any of that, nothing that reminds us that at least two guys are fighting over her, because Snotlout is now in love with Valka (ugh) and Fishlegs just exists for comic relief. But she choses Fishlegs because he’s sensitive, when we all know that Snotlout is quite sensitive too. I would have left her with Snotlout and Fishlegs with Heather, but that’s my opinion. Eret is just there to share information about Grimmel (just like Stoick did with Drago) and he looks like he don’t belong there when everyone is in armor and wings in the last battle. Valka was good. She did her part and had some good animation.. And Stoick was good too. I still think that we saw a kinder side of him, but it works with the story. And I have to mention Spitelout, as I was quite happy to see him around and I almost lost it when he talked. Ye olde Tennant. Yes, I’ve been watching Doctor Who lately.
Now, the elephant in the room. I’m not a fan of the Light Fury. I don’t like characters that are just there looking pretty. And I really thought that she was working for Grimmel. That’d have been a more interesting story. But no, her only purpose in the story is to take away Toothless, so... and she looks so smooth and shiny with a cute little nose so I can even take her seriously when she’s angry. She’s just boring and forgettable.
As I’m following my own notes, I have to talk about the dragon mating rituals, which I didn’t see or cared about before this movie, and I have to ask, what’s with the chicken dance, Hiccup? But, hey, this part was funny, I guess.
When Grimmel attacks Berk, I was quite sure it was a dream, but then, everything is on fire. What they don’t explain is if the whole island is burned to the ground or just the village. If the island is still all right, they could have moved on again after they bid goodbye to the dragons. Talking about the scene, I understand that it’s more emotional for Hiccup and Toothless, but we’ve seen this lots of times in the series and it was far more heartbreaking. Maybe it’s because we’ve already seen that or because they should have sent Toothless away and only say goodbye to their dragons AFTER finishing battling with the Hunters. They don’t explain how they get rid of them. I guess having ALL the dragons, means sending ALL the dragons to the Hidden World, so the Hunters won’t have anything to hunt. Talking about the Hidden World, it was pretty, with some Avatar/Trollhunters vibes at the begginning but I liked it more and more as they were moving on inside the cave.
Now with the ending. My problem with this story is that is too much sugar-coated. This is HTTYD. Here, you loose limbs and parents. And Hiccup doesn’t loose his best friend. In the books, all the dragons go to the sea to sleep until it’s safe for them to go above and, if I recall correctly, Toothless visits Hiccup year after year. I was expecting Hiccup to bring his first-born to meet Toothless, as he’s been visiting him, but it’s clear that it has been at least five or six years until they met again, but they met again at everything is fine. Everything felt so rushed and weird. It’s like the story needed over 10 minutes more. I’m up for an extended version, just like Lord of the Rings, so we have more than two hours of movie and everything gets and end. I feel like there was something else, something we didn’t get to see, and that might be on the new short, but it makes the story suffer. And it’s my opinion too, but this movie felt more market oriented that willing to do something brave or different.
I have mixed feelings with this movie. The main part was good, but I expected more from the last movie of the franchise, the last time we’re going to see this characters. Time will tell. I’m going to watch it again at the end of the month, when it’ll finally be screened in Spain (this time with subtitles, I understood everything except part of Ruff’s ramblings) and maybe this time I’ll like it more and I’ ll be able to appreciate other aspects of it. It’s a good movie, but it’s far from perfect. And it’s not the perfect way to end this.

What are some of the best TV series to watch on Netflix?
Netflix is one of the most streaming platforms today. So it is natural you would want to know which series is the best to binge. Hello, I am from IBR Graphics . Here is my list of best series to binge on Netflix.
1. Bojack Horseman6 seasons,
77 episodes | IMDb: 8.6/10
This is one of the best series on Netflix. It is also one of the most underrated series. It is set in a world where anthropomorphic animals and humans live side by side.BoJack Horseman is about a horse named Bojack (Arnett), the washed-up star of the 1990s sitcom Horsin’ Around. After a decade boozing on his couch and sleeping around, Bojack tries to resurrect his celebrity relevance with decidedly mixed results. On the face of it, it’s a zany satire of Hollywood and celebrity culture. What’s unexpected, however, is that Bojack Horseman may be television’s most honest and thorough examination of depression. The writing is sharp, the jokes are layered, and the situations are hilarious, but there’s a melancholy undercurrent to the series. Despite being a horse, Bojack is also one of the most human characters on television. It takes two or three episodes to hook viewers into its world, but once it does, it’s an impossible series to stop watching.

2. Stranger Things
3 seasons, 25 episodes | IMDb: 8.8/10
A throwback and love letter to the early 1980s movies of Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter, the Duffer Brothers Stranger Things feels both familiar and new. The first season is about a boy named Will who is captured by a The Thing-like creature and trapped in a Poltergeist-like world. Will’s dorky, Goonies-like best friends take to their bikes to do some sleuthing of their own and eventually befriend an alien-like girl with telepathic powers. its great PG horror/sci-fi, like the blockbusters of the early ’80s.

3. Marvel’s Daredevil
3 seasons, 39 episodes | IMDb: 8.6/10
Brilliantly shot, excellently choreographed, and superbly written, Daredevil lives so far outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as to be completely distinct. It is darker, more brutal, and grittier than the film franchise, although there are enough light and humor in the show to make its characters sympathetic. The series nails the tone of the comic, the characters are complex, and it really understands the grey area between hero and villain, and the fine line between the two where violence is concerned. The fight scenes are brutal, and one couldn’t ask for a better Matt Murdock than the one depicted by Charlie Cox.

4.The End of the F***ing World
2 seasons, 16 episodes | IMDb: 8.2/10
The End of the F***ing World is a dark-black comedy based on the comic series by Charles S. Forsman about James (Alex Lawther), a withdrawn and disturbed 17-year-old who believes he is a psychopath, and his burgeoning Bonnie & Clyde-like relationship with Alyssa, a classmate damaged by a dysfunctional family. Boasting a stellar soundtrack, magnificent performances, and a binge-worthy runtime, The End of the F***ing World is a bleakly funny series, but it’s also deeply, soul-achingly romantic.

5. Marvel’s Jessica Jones
3 seasons, 39 episodes | IMDb: 8/10
As an episodic series, Jessica Jones occasionally falters. Jones is a private detective with certain special powers, but the series doesn’t put her P.I. talents to much use, instead of focusing on one storyline surrounding the big bad, Kilgrave for the entire 13 episodes. Tennant’s character, however, is the best reason to watch the series — he’s captivating yet repugnant, alluring yet vile — and the themes of rape and domestic abuse resonate loudly. it’s a captivating, thematically-rich series that covers ground no other superhero series would dare to explore, and while that doesn’t make it the most entertaining Marvel series, it is the bravest and most original.

6. Luke Cage
2 seasons, 26 episodes | IMDb: 7.5/10
The third entry in Marvel’s Defenders series, Luke Cage follows the title character to Harlem, where he works as a sweeper in a barbershop and as a dishwasher in a restaurant. Cage –who has superhero strength and unbreakable skin — gets dragged against his better instincts into crime-fighting in order to save Harlem from violence and corruption. Luke Cage is every bit as thematically complex as Jessica Jones before it. Cage only falters in pace and storytelling. It’s thematically bold, but the storylines are conservative and predictable, and it might benefit by cutting its episode count from 13 down to eight or ten.

7. 13 Reasons Why
3 seasons, 39 episodes | IMDb: 8.2/10
13 Reasons Why has an intriguing hook: A teenage girl named Hannah takes her own life and leaves behind a suicide note in the form of 13 tapes, each one directed at a particular individual at least partially responsible for the decision to kill herself. The tapes are then passed around to the 13 people, who have to deal with the guilt they feel for the role they played in her death, as well as keep their secrets hidden as the contents of the tape threaten to destroy relationships and cost the school millions in an ongoing lawsuit. The drama came under fire in its first season for its heavy subject material, and the reason it stirred so much controversy is that it is an honest and unflinching look at teen suicide. 13 Reason Why is a haunting and very personal series, and whether it succeeds — or backfires — in its aims will depend largely on the viewer.

8. Peaky Blinders
5 seasons, 30 episodes | IMDb: 8.8/10
A British import licensed in America exclusively by Netflix, Peaky Blinders is roughly the UK equivalent of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, taking place in the same time period and covering similar terrain. It’s got British gangsters, and while bootlegging and gambling are involved, so is the IRA, Peaky has one thing that Boardwalk does not, however, and that’s the piercing, intense Cillian Murphy, who plays something akin to Prohibition-era Boyd Crowder. The show also features Tom Hardy as a phenomenal recurring character in seasons two and three (along with Noah Taylor). It’s addictive, violent, and intense as hell.

9.Sex Education
2 seasons, 16 episodes | IMDb: 8.3/10
this British teem comedy is committed to exploring all of the cringe-worthy, taboo topics associated with sex, just not in animated form. The series follows a mother-son duo navigating their way through those uncomfortable “talks.” Of course, the mother here happens to be a sex therapist named Dr. Jean Milburn and her son Otis is the kid enduring her overbearing tendencies at home while doling out sex advice of his own in an underground sex therapy ring amongst his friends. Sex is a comedy goldmine, and although the show loves to play up ’80s high-school tropes, there’s real nuance and thought that goes into how these teens are portrayed and their interactions with sex. Plus, Anderson’s comedic timing is spot-on.

10. The Umbrella Academy
1 season, 10 episodes | IMDb: 8/10
Superhero team-ups are a dime a dozen but the TV adaptation of this award-winning comic series created by Gerard Way — yes, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance — feels wholly unique and thus, totally refreshing. The show follows the story of seven kids, all born on the same day to mothers who didn’t even know they were pregnant. They’re adopted by a mysterious billionaire and trained to use their supernatural abilities to fight evil in the world, but when they grow up, their dysfunctional upbringing catches up with them, and they’re left struggling to live normal lives. It’s all kinds of weird, which is exactly what the genre needs right now.

6, 9, 11, 22, 23, 29, 30, 31, 35, 43, 45, 49, 52, 59, 70, 82
Thanks for asking, Mandy! You sure don’t hold back on the questions (but that’s alright because I’m bored and have nothing to do). Although you should know like, half of these already!
6.What’s your lucky number?I don’t have any lucky numbers, because they don’t really make sense to me, but I am somewhat attached to the number 74 (one of my main stories was set in 2174), and I think I’ve talked about how I only like numbers which have prime factors no higher than 11 (which is strange because 74 has 37 as a factor). I also have other favourite numbers but those are private unfortunately.
9.How tall are you?173cm last I checked, and I haven’t grown in the past few years so I shouldn’t need to check.
11.How many pairs of shoes do you own?Two - formal shoes and sneakers. I am but a simple man with simple needs. Especially because I can make my sneakers last two years, and my formal shoes last five.
22.Have you ever got in trouble with the law?Hah, for sure - if you define that loosely. I’ve never been fined or arrested or anything, but I’ve been close. The whole incident thing recently is one example. I’ve also had a police car come up beside my car while me and my ex were… adventuring in the back seat, but that was just a “uh, go somewhere else please”.
23.Have you ever met any celebrities?Yeah, me. And also all the wax sculptures at Madam Tussaud’s in London. But no, I’ve met Adam Spencer (Australian mathematician, better known as a comedian) because I was a nerd in high school. I think that’s it though, from memory.
29.Have you ever been skinny dipping?Yeah, in the bath. But the thought of actually skinny dipping is weird.
30.How many pillows do you sleep with? Two now. I used to be a strong one-pillower, but since I was enlightened, I’ve realised two pillows (a firm one underneath, soft one on top) is the way to go.
31.What position do you usually sleep in?On my left or right side (I don’t think I can ever sleep on my back or stomach), and legs folded in but not too much.
35.Have you ever tried archery?Mandy, you should know this. I’ve been to high school camps, it’s pretty hard not to have done archery. From memory, I’m not too shabby at it either.
43.Can you do any other accents other than your own?Absolutely not, but I’ve been told that I have some mix between an Australian, British, and Indian accent (and a couple of people have even chucked American in there too).
45.What is your favorite accent?Probably a British accent - David Tennant’s accent is one of my favourites. I also like New Zealand accents for comedy.
49.Are you an innie or an outie? This is a strange question, but I’m an innie.
52.Favourite food?Ravioli, but I haven’t had it in a while. In general, most pastas are amazing, and pizza is great too.
59.Do you suck or bite lollipops? What do you take me for, some unfeeling machine? Who willingly bites lollipops? You get it all stuck in your teeth for hours, and the taste is gone within fourteen seconds.
70.Have you ever been scuba diving?I haven’t, but I did go snorkeling on an Outdoor Education: Water camp in high school, and that wasn’t too bad. With how bad my skin condition is now, I doubt I’ll be swimming in the ocean anytime soon though.
82.How fast can you type?I was hoping someone would ask me this! I’m quite proud of it, my record is 71 or 72wpm. I’d have a go at it again, but I’m lying down in bed with my laptop on my lap so I’d probably get 55wpm or something now.
