Prompt 185
No one could get into contact with Constantine.Â
Now usually that wasnât that big of a deal, the man constantly disappeared for a few days at a time doing something or other, but heâd been completely silent and unseen for months. Usually heâll at least answer a call to tell them to fuck off or something.Â
And they really need his expertise and are getting incredibly worried for their grumpy team member. Yes heâs an asshole, but heâs their asshole, yâknow? And he has a habit of getting into Situations (sure he also usually gets out of them, but what if he didnât this time?!)Â
So theyâre desperate. Kind of really desperate. Desperate enough to use the summoning sigil they found on his fridge. Theyâd checked it, multiple times, and it should summon the hellblazer.Â
âYouâre not Constantine.â .Â
The white-haired teen in the circle yawned, stretching and blinking at them blandly with familiar blue eyes before sighing. âActually I am,â he stuffed his hands into his hoodie as he looked down at the summoning circle. âWell, technically just one of the many Laughing Magicians currently in the Realms.âÂ
He gave a grin, looking more amused than annoyed. âPretty much every one of us is in the Realms right now for family reunion lol. (Did he just say lol out loud??) So like, youâre gonna have to specify which of us youâre tryinâ to summon. Honestly perfect timing for me thanks, the fruitloop keeps flirting with John and itâs horrific so.âÂ
⊠That was probably their John, wasnât itâŠ
#dcxdp#dpxdc#prompts#The Constantine Family exists for fucking over entities & manipulating luck#They adore this scrappy halfa who is doing the same with twice the feral#Danny: Yeah Iâm like the changeling child that ended up in the middle of them and they just kept me for the laughs lol#Danny: Iâm not allowed to join in the drinking competitions#Danny: Oh no itâs not a responsibility thing; alcohol doesnât affect me and they say itâs cheating#Why Yes Vlad IS flirting with their Constantine#Heâs started his redemption but letâs be honest heâs also a con-man & John is all for fucking over the rich#Danny is disgusted at how well theyâre getting along and wanted to get away from their flirting while everyone else ribbed at em#Hence why when they all felt the summoning he decided to go#Well that and also for the laughs because heâs learning magic Undead Constantine style#âFuckin 'ell yeah the family 'as a necromancer in 'he line again look a' 'im go!â (Lots of ghost & living people drunken cheering)#Danny only half fucking with people: Yeah Iâm like their collective undead fae child lmao#danny fenton#john constantine

Hi! this is kinda an art request if u dont mind. And it's angst related, can you draw like where wanda and cosmo obvs have seen for a while how (human) timmy has been treated by his real parents. I just want to see like the "last straw" which lead Cosmo and Wanda wanting them to make Timmy as their own. (IM HAPPY THAT TIMMY HAS A FAMILY THAT LOVES AND CARES FOR HIM)
The "Last Straw"?
Cosmo and Wanda have seen humans at their best. They've seen humans at their worst. They've seen anything and everything that they've gone numb and used to what humans get up to.
But nothing's shaken them quite like Timmy's case did. Nothing has ever made a Fairy feel such strong human emotions than what Timmy made them feel, on that one particular night.
The thing that broke Cosmo and Wanda was Timmy himself.

the sneak pics have me wondering why peter feel the need to keep apologizing all the time ? is it because adults used to get mad at him all the time ?
yeah he has a LOTTT of unpacking to do with that. he still thinks that because he did things like this, it gave the adults around him the excuse to yell at/say nasty things to him. peter goes into a lot of detail with Dick about his previous foster homes in chapter 15, and this time Dick knows he has to ask because Peter's response to Dick and Wally realizing he knew about the "glitches" in some way and didn't tell Dick is absolutely heartbreaking
#i won't post that as a sneak peek#because it's got some content i'll have to trigger warning in the next chapter#this chapter has a LOT of discussion about child abuse#but peter (even if he's been going to therapy) doesn't notice a lot of his reponses#like he's decently aware of the ones that he finds childish/stupid/shameful#like running from problems and etc#but he has a response in this first scene that shatters dick's heart#and peter doesn't even notice that it happened#erinwantstowrite#ao3#ao3 fanfic#leap of faith ao3#peter parker#leap of faith catch me if you can#dick grayson#thank you for the ask!#chapter 15

Jason Todd gets blown up, resurrected, and after regaining his skills and control from Talia, goes back to Gotham and goes back to school. He leaves vigilantism entirely.
Heâs taking literature and philosophy classes and just about anything to do with writing.
He makes friends, heâs on his way to normalcy.
And then he sees an opening for an opinion writer for the school newspaper.
Clark Kent gets sent the same newspaper article to read in both his civilian and superhero personas. If thatâs not concerning, he doesnât know what it.
Itâs an opinion article on the state of vigilantism and hero work by a student in the next town over. And itâs a problem.
Because itâs good, too good. It feels like someone had sat in the watchtower during those first few months where everyone had been trying to work out how to function with so many different stances on morality and ethics. Should any of them really be doing this? What were the lines they couldnât cross? If weâre working outside the law, what moral credibility do we have otherwise to justify our actions?
And sure, Clarkâs written more than a few pieces criticizing Superman, but thereâs a point to that. He has his own reasons. This kid, well, Clark isnât sure of their reasons exactly. Because his gut reaction is thinking this kid is just making heroes and vigilantes look bad.
And thereâs a reason that all of his and Bruceâs debates on ethics happen behind closed doors. Because to be self critical is to try and prevent hubris, but to allow public criticism at this level is to lose the faith of the public.
So Clark is torn. Because if he responds, he gives credibility to what could remain a largely unknown article. And if he doesnât, he canât control the reaction of other people start responding to it.
Heâll have to talk to Bruce.
#jason todd#batman#bruce wayne#superman#clark kent#jason knowing all of the arrest rates of the bats and other heroes as well as recidivism and reoffending rates#looking at property damage and all the other typical arguments is well and good but why have people allowed heroes and vigilantes to go on#have we not just increased the extremes on both sides - created super heroâs and super villains?#and what about child vigilantes? how is that a choice sanctioned by society?#meta or non-meta that sort of extra-judicial power shouldnât be legal and what oversight is there?#meanwhile bruce is lowkey pissed because a lot of this is arguments he tried to use against his kids#and jason is having the time of his life writing articles in response to clark kent he always loved arguing against his uncle#i think itâd be even funnier for the bats to think jason was part of some plot to run a smear campaign against heroes/vigilantes#and they basically start stalking him and two things happen: they think itâs jason and are even more suspicious#and jason writes a new article about being stalked by vigilantes and violation of civilian privacy when not breaking the law#itâs a clusterfuck and PR nightmare

I'm trying really hard not to just be The Complainer because that's an energy I don't want to bring here when I love (present tense; I rewatch it like 5 times a day) arcane season 1 so much but does anyone remember when powder was taken in by silco and being raised by this very utilitarian merciless 'the ends justify the means' type character made jinx turn out violent and merciless as well. and vi was horrified by her and the lanes were terrified of her and piltover was falling over itself trying to scapegoat her as the one bad apple of the undercity to kid themselves into believing that everyone else was perfectly fine with being treated as less than. and that contrasts vi after vander etc. died because she was raised by him and internalised the idea that no one wins in war and fighting back against systemic oppression isn't worth the damage it causes to your own community which is why she ended up working with cait and the council like vander worked with grayson. the people who raised them shaped them into who they are today but then in season 2 jinx has a daughter and she's suddenly completely normal and well adjusted and her attachment style isn't digging her nails in until she draws blood at all. like What. what happened. didn't things used to mean something
#arcane#arcane critical#powder was raised by vi more than vander#she barely spoke to him#and powder always cared more about vi's reaction than the dead parents on the ground 2 feet away from her#which does a lot to explain 'I am the monster you created' when season 1 was so heavy on children being shaped by their parents#vi did eldest daughter syndrome too hard. vander told her it was her fault if things went wrong and then most of her family died#vi having a momentary bad reaction to her little sister causing all of this and realising that vander was right about violence#because she's so used to it that she just hit powder in the face and made her nose bleed and it seeped into every aspect of her life#and needing to step away for a moment and just feel and cry and be a child#ruined everything and it's always framed as her 'abandoning' powder (which I understand how powder would see it that way#because I'm such a youngest sister that's my first thought too. I have to remind myself that's Not What's Happening. also powder has bpd#she demonstrably cannot handle what she perceives as rejection or abandonment or betrayal or the truth being withheld)#vi has to do So Much. why is everything her fault. I so adore how much she wants to look after powder because of course she does#but jinx isn't seven anymore. she doesn't want to be treated like the helpless little girl she was that day. she's an adult#she had to nuke the council for vi to understand that she isn't the same anymore#and she's responsible for her own actions#ITS ALL SO GOOD ITS SOSOSOSO GOOD I LOVE SISTERS#*correction: I believe jinx is vaguely a teenager in s1. not an adult (being imprisoned by piltover would be as wrong as when she was 7)#but not vi's kid sister anymore either

So I donât know how I can say this- but there is technically a way that Kai âraisedâ Nya.
Sure the villagers raised Kai and Nya and left them alone when they got old enough to take care of themselves (If the Ninja were 14 Iâd be hella surprised, theyâre like 15-16 at best in the pilots please-) e
But there is a way Kai helped âraiseâ Nya. In some communities and sometimes in modern day society the Eldest child is sometimes considered the Second Parent. And this is well, really emphasized in Asian Communities.
The Eldest is seen as the future provider and caretaker of the family, they are expected to take care of the parents in the future, get a job, earn money and most importantly TAKE CARE of the younger siblings when the parents are not around.
As Kai is the Elder Brother, you would expect him to have the same mindset when it comes to his sister, their babysitters would often than not, probably have expectations for Kai to be the provider of the family. (Not just for sexist reasons but also because he is the eldest)
In the pilots, we see Kai already trying to blacksmith. And NyaâŠis justâŠlooking around I guess.
Already we have an indication that Kai is the provider for both him and Nya, and itâs possibly because he was raised with those expectations. To care for and provide for Nya when the parents or babysitter werenât around.
He probably was the one who learned how to cook first when the babysitter was running late, he probably was the one who washed their clothes, did most of the chores. I mean this could also lead to Nyaâs later characterization of wanting to do everything the ninja does alongside them because sheâs seen the way Kai was raised.
We may not know much about their childhood but to me, it seems likely that Kai was raised with expectations to be a caretaker and provider for the family and in some point in life slowly enveloped into the role, (Something most older siblings do as they get older, usually around 14 the parents start treating them like adults and eventually they become the parents whenever the actual parents were busy)
There is a way that Kai âraisedâ Nya while also having actual caretakers, but the answer might still be kinda depressing if you think about it.

"Angry robin" "violent robin" "misbehaving robin" shut up and accept my alternative; spunky Robin. Determined and head strong, can out-stubborn the Batman, has a strong moral-backbone and does what he thinks is right regardless of what anybody else says, Robin. Jason who was sassy and quippy and made crude jokes with a smile on his face. Jason who hid in Bruce's cape and whispered gossip to him. Jason who, if Bruce refused him something, could keep bothering endlessly until Bruce caved. And also dramatic Jason. If Bruce tells him no, it becomes a whole theatrical show; a monologue, a narration, embellishments, and falling onto the floor in his grief upon the fact his cruel father has denied him once again.
(Jason who has suffered through abuse and homelessness and poverty and starvation, who is the Fight out of Fight or Flight, who's built up defenses and walls and when pushed and triggered responds with the thing that's always protected him; anger. He's sweet and kind and funny, and when he sees a pimp hitting a prostitute he gets furious and responds with violence.)
#my dc posting#dc#jason todd#jaybin#im having so many thoughts abt jaybin and he is so important to me#in one fic he went on a hunger strike bc alfred didnt eat w them and did it for so long they had to compromise#i love a jaybin 100% willing to menace and bother batman until the man folds. as is his right#the thing abt jason's backstory is that it shows him unwilling to suffer for a home#ma gunn's is bad; he gets beat up and she tries to get him to help rob a place. so he leaves! and rats the whole thing out to batman#and shows up himself cus he didnt think he had been believed#and lets not forget the fact he hit batman with a tire iron and called him a 'big boob'!#the boy's got moxie!! let jaybin be crass and angry and sassy and flawed and traumatized without reducing him to 2d caricature of a 'troubl#d kid'#i dont like a jason who did nothing but use excessive violence and disobey orders and be cocky and all that shit#i like a jason who was. oh yknow. a complex person!! a child/teen who has been fucking abused!!!#you shouldnt erase the fact that jason's reaction/response to stressful situations and triggers IS anger#it's not an indication that he was always gonna become a criminal/red hood or whatever. get outta here w that shit#but like. let us not go so far in the other direction we forget to have him react and be affected by the abuse he's suffered#anyway. if anyone should be a drama-queen it should be jaybin. once he becomes truly comfortable w bruce he should dial it up to 11#a lot of red hood's appeal (to me&many others) is that he is an 'imperfect' victim. meaning he is angry and flawed and doesnt suffer quietl#but is loud and obvious abt it#so when i see jaybin written as the opposite its like. man whats that about#anyway. jaybin is good and cares and wants to help and protect people. and by god if i ever see anybody writing#him having arguments with bruce about the no kill rule WHILE robin again im gonna throw hands istg-#my tags are like a hidden treasure box. most of what i say is in here lmao

...I should be editing my dissertation but now I'm thinking about how both Azula and Katara are perhaps the most "adultified" of the atla characters and...hmm. Interesting.
#something something about the primary female characters getting treated like grown women while the boys...aren't so much#except maybe toph...who is the least feminine of the girls#I mean all of these kids have to grow up fast and deal with responsibilities no child should be shouldering#aang sokka and zuko all deal with this don't get me wrong#but all of them have a lot more allowance for childish moments#iroh provides zuko the space to be...if not an ordinary teen than to at least express his emotions like a teenage boy#aang is constantly granted spaces to be childish and carefree#and sokka has always had katara looking out for him which allows him to be free from the parentification she was saddled with#meanwhile toph's entire arc is about connecting with the freedoms she wasn't granted as a kid in her home#so she's allowed to be wild and crazy and her desire for that is even explored in one episode#with there being some acknowledgement that she actually DOES appreciate katara's 'motherliness'#but katara is rarely allowed a moment to be a kid and it is arguably only in the first episode that aang even comments on that#and azula never gets a moment of levity#even in the beach she's not really granted the space to be as carefree as zuko mai and ty lee#...anyways get these girls a mother figure please#let girls be girls and not young women#atla

Joseph, just like Chika, had someone weak and helpless in his care. However, when the threat of death from starvation drove him into a corner, he refused to abandon the one he promised to protect. Unlike Chika
#(put âi thinkâ after every next sentence i'm gonna write)#i understand chise's mom never meant harm for her daughter. and i don't blame her from breaking under the pressure#but i don't understand why she (and yuuki) decided to have their own child#they both probably realised what dangers they and their child would have to face#that chise would have no one to turn to if (when) something happened to them. but they still brought her into this world#what i'm saying is#from chise's pov chika's decision to give birth to a child is a more serious promise than joseph's decision to take in a suffering stranger#but of the two it's chika who runs away from her responsibilities and breaks the promise#joseph on the other hand does all he can and a lot more than he has to. cartaphilus isn't his child. he can leave him. and yet he stays#(we all know how that ended though)#chise saw joseph's memories about cartaphilus right after seeing her own memories about her mom#so she likely compared both situations and admired joseph for what he did more than others would#also âfunnyâ how chise barely ever remembers her dad and puts almost all blame on her mother because her worst memories are related to her#and not to her dad who just deleted himself from their life#i need to dissect her brain#mahoutsukai no yome#mahoyome#the ancient magus' bride#the ancient magus bride#ancient magus bride#tamb#chise hatori#joseph cartaphilus

vaguing a post that's on my dash that I don't want to engage with (as usual) but actually no CPTSD isn't a diagnosis for 'when things were a tiny bit bad a lot' or 'if you experienced relationships that were toxic but not abusive' it's a diagnosis describing the impacts of CONTINUOUS TRAUMA. not less significant but more frequent trauma; trauma which is ongoing/continuous/recurring in developmental years.
like I'm not trying to gatekeep here and I recognise the value of saying 'it doesn't have to be a Single Big Obvious Trauma' because one key thing about CPTSD is that generally it makes traumatic incidents Your Normal so you don't necessarily view them as unusual or concerning. but I often see people talk about CPTSD as if it implies smaller individual incidents than PTSD and that just is not the case.
most experiences I have seen people be diagnosed with CPTSD for (myself included) are not 'a little bit toxic'. they are things which, each incident taken separately, an outsider would still recognise as traumatic - medical emergencies, rape and sexual abuse, significant physical violence, emotional abuse and coercive control, homelessness, severe poverty, war, torture, etc - and the thing that makes the PTSD C is not the relative level of the trauma, but the fact that it's enough of a repeated and consistent pattern, at an early enough stage, and sufficiently embedded in everyday life, that it becomes a person's baseline for 'normal'.
CPTSD is not a synonym for emotional microtraumas or cumulative trauma or 'death by a thousand cuts'. It's specifically defining the psychological differences in response to long term formative trauma as opposed to traumatic events which you process as an aberration (eg the difference between regular violence against you from trusted adults in childhood vs being physically abused for the first time in adulthood with existing experience of healthy relationships). Traumas causing CPTSD tend to be pretty similar in type, scale and severity to traumas causing standard PTSD - they are just more embedded and normalised earlier in life.
all this to say there's nothing wrong with acknowledging that cumulative microtraumas can affect us in traumatic ways. there's nothing wrong with pointing out that there's a broad range of types of trauma, and trauma can include stuff like growing up marginalised or ill as well as abuse, war, injury or immediate loss. there's nothing wrong, too, with acknowledging that a lot that is traumatic doesn't necessarily feel traumatic to you.
but like. no. CPTSD is not a diagnosis for people whose trauma wasn't 'big enough' for PTSD. CPTSD is not cumulative microtraumas. CPTSD is a response to formative macrotraumas or to a long term traumatic situation without hope of escape or change and if you want to talk about microtraumas then do that but it's not what CPTSD is!
#red said#this has really pissed me off sorry I've seen several people post things like this#so this post just tipped me over#but like. goddamn. cptsd is not microtrauma.#and there are benefits to encouraging people to think of things as potentially traumatic before they're ready to register them as harm#but imo that's counterbalanced by the fact that again a major part of CPTSD for a lot of people is that we Think Severe Trauma Is Normal#so i do not think it's USEFUL to AGREE that CPTSD is a diagnosis describing the buildup of Small Normal Microtraumas#when it's generally a response to LARGE HORRIFYING trauma that KEEPS HAPPENING#listen ok so PTSD might describe an adult's response to being posted into a warzone or having their home unexpectedly attacked#CPTSD might describe a child who grew up in a warzone and struggles to feel safe into adulthood bc they have no experience of a safe world#they're both significant traumas but one is an interruption of the way you thought the works works#and the other is the only lens you have to view the world through#but crucially NEITHER ARE MICROTRAUMATIC AND THAT'S NOT WHAT THE COMPLEX IN CPTSD MEANS

"Being victim to christian indoctrination is a personal failing bc there are people that were also exposed to christianity as a child and still didn't take on the views đ"
Were they exposed to other points of view? Did the adults in their life not take it very seriously? Was it taught as an option rather than fact? Were other people's faiths (or lack thereof) seen as valid and okay? Were they allowed to have relationships with people outside the church? Were they taught critical thinking skills? Were they allowed to develop their own morality? Were they allowed to research other viewpoints and come to their own conclusions? Were they not metaphorically dangled over the flames of hell every second of their life?
Being "exposed" to it and being forced into it to the point that your physical and emotional safety is at risk if you fall out of line are entirely different things. Did you go to church on Easter every year, or did the only people you were allowed to be around (which you had no say in) manipulate how you think and dictate your reality and morality and beliefs and undermine your ability to think critically so you wouldn't stray?
#people are responsible for their own actions and beliefs#and also#at a certain point you're victim blaming literal children for doing what they needed to stay safe#like maybe let's criticize the oppressive and abusive institution#rather than fully blaming the victims for falling victim to it#especially when a lot of those victims are literal actual children#ex christian#religious trauma#ex cult#child indoctrination

and I think child modelling should be illegal I'm not even joking
#I dodged it but like it truly felt like we were pigs raised to slaughter. slaughter being prostitution#every little detail I remember now as adult with basic child psychology education from my teacher background is just. how#I'm not brave enough to say 'jail to mother' (yet) but honestly...#what wrong could come from making a bunch of girls used to lying about their age ignoring being made uncomfortable and disrespected#especially by adults who can make all sorts of rules and claims on their bodies and schedules that are treated as secrets#I had the best experience possible and I am certain I did get pimps approaching me my mother and contractors#and even then I felt very weird that I was often sent to nightclubs that only allowed adults as clients but since I was there to get on#stage as work then I could get in and actually I got instructed to keep on 'vip areas' that typically had a lot more drugs circulating#the heels the clothing and makeup I got put on were also so wrong#I didn't hate it at the time some things made me uncomfortable but I liked dancing I liked fashion and I liked how the fact I was 'making#money' made me more respected in my house and I started getting more independence (that I probably shouldn't have been given either)#but ugh the existing photographs already make me want to throw up and I am glad there aren't photographs of the worse 'dance' jobs I did#very strange little universe#I also feel like I was the only girl that didn't have an eating disorder but mostly cuz I already had problems with alcohol that did the jo#but also I got in much older than the other girls and out pretty fast#crazy that 13 is old but like you genuinely hear of 6 year old who are responsible for a considerable portion of the household income#YIKES#the compliments I got on managing to look older and 'being so mature'. yikes#anything that allows a child to be the one making most of the family's income is a receipt for disaster#.txt
