Emergence - Behind each arena
Thought this mission was chaotic af. Didn't expect zombies to be in the campaign since they literally have a separate mode for that but anyways let's take a lil dive into EMERGENCE.
⚠️WARNING: Spoilers for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
-Advanced Combat Research-
For this section, we obtain a grappling hook and need to defeat the director of ACR with the help of some sentries.
I wasn't actually sure about this one since the zombies were just well....zombies that looked like guards. However, that said, the big guy we had to defeat was just a Cerberus/three-headed-dog-like figure.
-Administration-
For this keycard, we have to find the reports and slot them into the holders and this red mannequin comes to life (along with the others...)
Red is an interesting choice. It stands out from the rest and if we think back to Cold War, you'd remember red being used A LOT throughout the campaign.
Anyways, once it's free, the red mannequin goes on the run (a bit like Adler) and we have to chase it, the voice in Case's head saying, "I knew we couldn't trust him," and if we fire at it, the voice mentions, "Bullets are nothing to him," possibly referring to Adler being hardened by his years of service.
He cracks when we reel him in and get too close and then he pushes us away. The cracks remind me of Adler's scars - mental and physical. In fact, the mannequins actually take on the form of Adler mostly as well in this room. A coincidence? I think not.
After the initial phase, the red mannequin transforms into the monster as seen in the third image and again, we get another piece of dialogue - "See? He's a monster, just like the rest of them."
The thing that comes to mind here is Adler's nickname - America's monster.
-Joint Projects-
To acquire this keycard, we play some prop hunt basically! Objects around the room will rattle, signifying the monster's whereabouts and we have to sneak up on it and fire or it will disappear again - kind of alluding to the idea of secrecy, a core theme of Black Ops.
What's interesting to me is the fact that the zombie engages in a prop hunt like game with Case...like being on the move constantly and watching your back when others get too close to the truth perhaps.
We know that Sevati Dumas is the queen of disguise, excelling at being hidden in plain sight so this definitely fits her and that's why we see her in this arena.
-Cognitive Research-
During this phase, we have to drain some water to get the keycard and kill the big guy who's residing in the bathysphere.
The voice in Case's head seems to focus on rage here. I think for this part, there was a mix of Marshall, Sev and Adler zombies.
On escape, we see a Woods horde charging towards us. If we consider the theme of rage, we can certainly see where Woods' anger lies - Hudson and Mason's death especially to Woods' being kneecapped by Menendez and how that's mentally affected him, leading him to suffer. Hence, this is a part of the "cognitive research" bit.
-Biotechnology-
For this phase, we have to defeat a friggin' levitating zombie.
I thought this one was very reminiscent of Case...almost like it's his true form. He's essentially fighting himself for this one, just like looking in a mirror, right?
Troy and Sev zombies can be seen, most likely because this is where the three of them all are in reality.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your palms were sweating. If the man broke in, your hands wouldn’t be able to hold a weapon.
Your legs were trembling. There was no way for you to be able to run when they barely held you standing.
Your heart was beating fast. Feeling dizzy, you didn’t know if you’d be able to even stay conscious.
It was a paralyzing feeling to be trapped inside your own home. The man kept knocking on your door like he was a zombie trying to get inside your base to eat you. That’s how desperate he was to get his teeth on you, to take a piece of you or swallow you whole.
“Open the door, love. Do you want me to force my way in?”
You wouldn’t let him in no matter what happened. There was no guarantee that he could get in, but it was sure as hell that letting him in would be the biggest – and probably last – mistake of your life.
The best choice now was to pretend you weren’t home at all. It was unlikely the man would be stupid enough to believe your act, but he’d get bored eventually. Or he’d break in and do whatever he wanted to you, if he really was serious about getting in one way or another.
His attempts to open the door were futile, but that didn’t discourage him.
You stood there, eyes locked on the door, fully prepared to see it fling open and reveal the man behind it. Who would it be? Who would take your life and everything that was dear to you?
“Make your choice already.”
It felt impossible to move your limbs. They stayed in the same spot almost like they had never been yours in the first place. You should have already obtained a weapon, but you just stood stock-still.
“Choose me. Choose you and me. Choose us.”
There were no more knocks after those cryptic words. Only the sounds of your heavy breathing and soft hum of air conditioner could be heard in your apartment.
Then an envelope dropped in from the mail slot, the sound startling you. Your mind rushed instantly to the worst-case scenarios of what it could contain.
You didn’t dare to move your eyes from the door, waiting what else could still happen. The envelope would be for later, for when the immediate danger was far away. The danger would never end though before either you or the man was dead.
Receding footsteps behind the door could be heard, as the man was probably leaving. He surely knew you were still there. But he also knew you wouldn’t give up that easily.
A few minutes went by as you just stared at the envelope silently. It felt threatening; what else could it contain than something meant to drive you crazy with fear? The envelope tried to present itself as so innocent, laying there on the floor, but you knew better.
Hesitantly, you finally approached and picked it up. The floor was quite moist. The snow from your boots had melted into a tiny puddle of water and made the envelope wet. You didn’t know whether to hope the letter inside was still readable, or that the most likely threatening words on it would be complete nonsense to your eyes.
But against your expectations, a photograph could be found inside.
You wanted to throw up once you saw it.
The picture was of a dead sparrow on a road. You had seen dead animals before, sure, but this bird had been run over with a car, left mangled in a mess of fresh blood, broken bones and ruined feathers. The poor sparrow was barely recognizable, but what confirmed your suspicions of the bird’s species was a feather you found from the envelope as well.
Dry blood was spilled on it, making it even filthier than it already was. You felt like you were holding evidence of a crime in your hands. But who would care about a dead sparrow? Although it was a sign that you could be the next victim, there wouldn’t be much the police could do.
As if finding the sparrow’s feather and a photograph of the gruesome fate the bird had faced wasn’t enough, you found handwritten text on the backside of the picture.
“I’m sorry. It’s too late to stop the car now.”
It was no surprise that you thought about that envelope and its contents for the next days.
Days flew by like on wings, and it didn’t take a long time until you were sitting on one of the ten armchairs again. The therapy room wasn’t full yet, only Seonghwa and Hongjoong chatting quietly in the other side and Mingi sitting near them, bopping his head while listening to music on his headphones. They were probably the most harmless people in the group, being the only ones you hadn’t interacted with, but there was still a possibility. Possibility that one of them had been following you. It surely had to be one of the group members who was tormenting you and making you fear for your life.
You watched as Jongho came in. With the usual unamused expression on his face, he scanned the room with his eyes. It didn’t take more than one second for his eyes to find you.
“Hi,” you gained courage to greet Jongho as he sat down next to you. It was for the best if you got on everyone’s good sides so they wouldn’t have a reason to kill you.
You hadn’t expected or even hoped to start any conversation but a greeting back would have been nice. He couldn’t even spare you an acknowledging glance, just ignored you completely. Having had enough, you swore to yourself silently you would never talk to him again.
“Did you save this seat for me or were you hoping someone else would take it before I could?” Jongho finally replied, not to your greeting but it was a reply nonetheless.
His gaze was suddenly on you. The way his eyes tried to break through your barriers, and find out all your darkest secrets and deepest fears, made you feel like you were naked. Not naked in a way that he would desire you, but naked in a way that he would think of you as disgusting if he found out what kind of a person you really were.
“Neither. I don’t really care who sits next to me.”
“Don’t you remember I told you last week to sit next to me today?”
Why was everyone so focused on who was sitting next to you? Last week Wooyoung, San, and Yunho had gotten into an argument over seat arrangements, and now Jongho was pressed about you being open to sitting next to anyone. Well, you were definitely not open to sitting next to Yunho, but like Hell you were going to say it out loud. That could only end up in the said man losing his composure and shooting you with a Glock 22.
“O-Oh, I’m sorry. I had a rough week so I think it slipped my mind.”
Jongho’s face was surprisingly neutral unlike in the horrifying scenarios you had come up with. He just nodded, but it was likely he knew you were lying.
“Why do you want to sit next to me?” you presented a question that had been occupying your mind since last week.
His expression didn’t even falter as he leaned closer to you. As he whispered, his warm breath tickled your ear.
“Stay here after the session. It’s not safe to tell you when we’re this near to other people.”
If his closeness didn’t already send shivers down your spine, his threatening words definitely did. The tone of his voice was unreadable. You had no indication of what words were about to leave his plump lips after the session.
You could barely focus as the session started with everyone finally in the room. The hem of your shirt was crumbled up inside your fists, as you pondered about all the possible things Jongho could tell you.
“Valentine’s Day is approaching, and to honor that, we will write each other short, anonymous letters of appreciation today!”
Hongjoong sighed in frustration at Charlotte’s words while everyone else seemed somewhat intrigued. Even Jongho’s ears perked up at the mention of letters.
Seonghwa had a question, “Should I write one letter to everyone?”
“Yes. It’s to show we all care about each other,” Charlotte smiled, “You may even find out about a possible secret admirer.”
You understood Hongjoong’s frustration. He was clearly here to receive help to his workaholism yet now he had to write letters to eight different people he couldn’t care less about.
“Remember: only nice things. We don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings here.”
Hongjoong looked like he wanted not only to hurt Charlotte’s feelings but her physically too. That’s how dark his expression looked, left eye almost twitching from annoyance.
When everyone had eight little pieces of paper and a pen in their hands, they found places to write at. Some had hidden in the corners of the room, unlike San and Wooyoung who were next to each other, cackling together at the things they wrote.
“Do you think Jongho would take this well?”
“I don’t recommend writing that to him. He doesn’t seem like the type to understand jokes,” San answered to Wooyoung as he took a look at his paper.
You had stayed on your chair and decided to start with writing to Seonghwa. He seemed like a normal person, and you had pleasant things to say about him.
“Your facial features are like a god had crafted them,” is what you truly craved to say to him, but instead of that, you just wrote, “Your hair is beautiful but your face even more so. Don’t cover it.”
Glancing at him, you noticed how he was hiding behind his quite long, black hair again. A thoughtful look on his face, he was writing a letter, and you wondered who it could be for.
You decided to write for Yeosang next. The letters were supposed to be anonymous so you couldn’t reveal too much.
“You make me feel more comfortable here. Also, I love your birth mark.”
Next letter was for San, “You clearly take good care of your body. Would you take good care of me as well?”
You were insane already according to your psychiatrist, but this just made you feel even crazier. Letter by letter you were getting bolder, having fun with the fact that nobody could pinpoint you as the letter’s writer with complete certainty.
“Do you make love songs as well? I could be your next muse,” as you wrote your letter to Mingi, you almost giggled to yourself.
“If I kissed you, would that shut you up for a second?” read in the letter for Wooyoung.
You were having way too much fun with writing these until you realized you’d have to write for Hongjoong, Jongho, and Yunho. The men that scared you the most. Hongjoong was stern, Jongho secretive and cryptic, and Yunho unstable. That was the end of your playful, bold letters.
You pondered what to write for Hongjoong. It had to be something lame and not too affectionate.
“I find your work ethic admirable but don’t burn yourself out.”
Was that too personal? You did not care. It felt anonymous enough, so if he got mad, he wouldn’t be able to direct his anger at only you.
“I’m interested in finding out what you’re like,” was what you wrote for Jongho.
It would be impossible for him to guess who wrote it. You didn’t lie in your letter; Jongho was intriguing though intimidating.
But what to write for Yunho? That was the question.
You raised your gaze from the paper to look at him and consider what words would you write on the paper. As you looked around, your eyes found him in the corner of the room. Surprisingly, he wasn’t looking at you unlike usually. He seemed very invested on the writing process.
It had never gone unnoticed by you how handsome he was. How handsome all of them were. His presence and looks reminded you of a friendly golden retriever, but you knew he was in fact not like that. His eyes that always lingered on you were more like of a hungry wolf that has gotten too comfortable with seeing life leave its preys’ eyes.
“Your hair is black. I like the color black.”
Your letter to Yunho was nothing but lame, but that was exactly how you wanted it to be.
The timer rang indicating time was up, just as you had finished writing all the letters.
“Give all the letters to me and I’ll deal them to their correct receivers,” Charlotte guided.
After you had handed the letters to her, you remembered San’s shirt, which he had lent you at the cafe. You had to give it back to him.
As you returned the shirt to its rightful owner, you mumbled sheepishly, “I’m sorry. I forgot to wash your shirt, so it may have my scent on it.”
Something flickered in San’s eyes at your words. He took the shirt from your hands, his fingers brushing against yours.
“No worries. I don’t mind,” a delightful look he couldn’t hide was on his face.
The whole interaction made you feel weird. Why did he seem so happy although you returned him his shirt used?
You didn’t have much time to analyze his actions, since Charlotte started sharing the letters to everyone.
As you received the eight letters in your hands, you were getting surprisingly excited. Of course, you were scared of what other people thought of you, but the chance of a letter complimenting or wishing you nice things felt inviting.
“Seonghwa may start reading his letters.”
You listened intently as Seonghwa started reading his letters out loud.
“You seem soft-spoken and respectful.”
“Your voice is soothing.”
Seonghwa read a few letters before finally seeing the letter you had written.
“Your hair is beautiful but your face even more so. Don’t cover it.”
A pretty, flustered smile spread on his lips. Despite the letter’s guidance, he covered his face with his hair like out of a habit, as he blushed.
“The writer of this is lying.”
You almost screamed out “No, I’m not!” when you heard Seonghwa’s words, but he had already moved on to the next letter.
Hongjoong’s letters were comments about his clothes, and you realized you should have written those things as well, when you heard his reaction to your letter.
“Burn myself out? I can take care of myself very well, so no-one has to worry about my state,” he spoke, clearly irritated.
It was too near, that your face would have flushed in embarrassment and revealed everyone the stupid letter had been written by you.
The round continued with Yeosang reading out compliments about his calm nature, looks and the birthmark. Like Seonghwa, he seemed shy and flustered to receive such kind words. It was like he had never been appreciated the way he should be.
“Stay away from her.”
As Yeosang read those words out loud, everyone, including Hongjoong who had looked bored, turned to look at Yeosang, shocked.
“I told you guys, only nice words,” Charlotte scolded everyone gently, like she did not care that much about the ominous words on the paper Yeosang was holding in his trembling hands.
“Does it say anything else?” you asked before you could stop yourself.
Yeosang shook his head, lips pressed in a tight line.
“Who is the writer talking about?” Seonghwa wondered.
“Who else than Y/N? She is the only woman here.”
You had suspected that immediately when Yeosang had read the paper, but hearing Hongjoong say it, made the clenching feeling in your heart tighten.
“It’s not April’s Day yet, the writer should not joke like that,” Charlotte just chuckled light-heartedly, “Let’s move on to Mingi.”
The said man smiled excitedly, more ready than ever to look through the letters.
“You look like a duck.”
Mingi tilted his head at the letter, not quite sure if it was a compliment or insult.
“I don’t think it was an insult. Ducks are cute,” Yunho smiled.
Mingi smiled back, relieved that the letter for him wasn’t meant to insult.
“Do you make love songs as well? I could be your next muse,” Mingi read the next letter out loud, voice wavering more and more at every word he said.
He casted accusatory looks on everyone around the room. You didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his reaction to your letter. It was so cute, but unclear if he was happy or mad about the flirty words.
“Well, to answer the question on the letter, I haven’t found my muse yet so there are no love songs.”
The next turn was Yunho’s after Mingi had read everything. Yunho seemed to be enjoying the letters, but it was almost like he was searching for something.
It was the last letter he read, that was the one you had written.
“Your hair is black. I like the color black.”
Yunho smiled confusedly at the words directed to him, “Thank you. I was thinking of dying it, but I’ll keep it black just for you.”
What was terrifying was that he turned to look at you when he said that. Did he somehow know you were the one who wrote the letter? It shouldn’t have been even possible. Anyone could have written those words, yet he still decided to be a creep and stare at you like he always did and would continue doing.
San started going through his letters, most complimenting his muscles and kindness. A slight smile decorated his lips as he thanked for each and every letter he received. It was adorable and admirable how respectful he always was.
Suddenly, his smile turned into a frown. It was not only of concern. You could swear there was a hint of anger deep inside his eyes.
“Who is writing these pathetic threats?”
“What do you mean, San?” Charlotte asked.
“I got the same letter as Yeosang. Telling me to stay away from Y/N.”
Something was wrong. This couldn’t be just a joke; you were sure of that. You had no proof, so it was easy for Charlotte to play it off just as a stupid joke, but this was a threat from someone inside the group.
“I also have it!” Wooyoung chimed in, taking out a letter he had received.
Your heartbeat was accelerating as you thought about who could have written those threats. It had to be Yunho. He was the only one who seemed crazy enough.
“Jongho and Y/N, check if you have those letters as well.”
At Charlotte’s demand, you started checking the letters you had gotten. It was difficult with trembling hands which were barely able to hold onto the letters. One of them even slipped out of your hands onto the floor.
“I don’t have a letter like that,” you heard Jongho say, as you were picking up the piece of paper you had dropped.
The paper wasn’t the only thing that had dropped. Your heart dropped as well, once you saw the last letter you hadn’t gone through yet.
It would have seemed innocent in anyone else’s eyes. They would have said “aww, cute!” when they saw the drawing on the paper, but you knew better than to think of it as harmless.
The drawing wasn’t that good, on the average side actually, but you recognized what it was. It was a bird.
That bird was alive and well, even had a smile on its face, unlike the bird on the photograph you had received a few days ago. But anyone with a brain would have been able to put two and two together. The bird was clearly meant to be a sparrow despite the drawer’s lacking skills.
You didn’t want to read the text next to the drawing, but it was inevitable.
“This time the bird is alive. Do you want to stay alive as well?”
Immediately after reading the words, you burst into tears. It was not a beautiful sight, a grown woman crying and hyperventilating.
You honestly felt like you were going to suffocate. The fear was pulling you deeper underwater, threatening to drown you. You couldn’t breathe. No matter how many breaths you took in in just a couple seconds, they were too shallow and short for you to get in the air you so desperately needed. You needed air. You needed to get out of here. You needed someone to touch you soothingly, but at the moment, you despised the idea of any of those men getting close to you.
Still, one of the men walked to you and got on his knees in front of you.
“Deep breaths. Don’t focus on anything else but breathing and my voice.”
You closed your eyes as the man took your hand. The way your nails dug onto his hand probably left marks, but he didn’t seem to care, because he knew you needed to hold onto something in this moment of vulnerability.
“I-I’m going to die!” you sobbed, keeping your eyes tightly shut, as if it could have protected you from the reality.
“Everything is going to be fine. I’ll take care of you, angel.”
The feeling of embarrassment, that was surely going to arrive later if you didn’t die now, didn’t even cross your mind. You were too focused on surviving this moment. You were in danger, you knew it. First the photograph and feather of that dead bird, and now an indirect threat. The stalker was here in this room with you, analyzing your every move and taking pleasure in seeing your terror.
You opened your eyes again. The once comforting lights in the room felt suddenly too bright, like you were on stage, forced to perform for thousands of people. You could almost hear the laughter of the audience in your ears. They were all mocking and observing you.
“Look at me, Y/N,” the man in front of you said softly.
The man was mocking you too. He was just crueler than the others, wanting to see you fall for his comfort and then crush you with his bare hands.
“I’m not going to hurt you. Look into my eyes.”
Slowly, you forced your gaze to look at the man. It was Seonghwa. He didn’t have a cruel smile on his face nor was he looking at you with danger. Just a genuine, compassionate look as he held your hand.
“What happened, Y/N?” Charlotte asked.
“Are you alright?” San worried.
“Of course she isn’t. She had a panic attack,” Wooyoung slapped San’s shoulder.
You felt dizzy, finally realizing that everyone had their eyes pinned on you. It felt like you were an animal at the zoo, only meant for everyone to observe you.
“I want out...” you tried to breathe, “I need air.”
Seonghwa nodded instantly and helped you up from your seat, “Come, I’ll help you.”
If anyone else than Seonghwa or Yeosang had done that, you would have screamed and ran away – that is if your legs would have worked in their shaky state. You let Seonghwa lead you away gently.
Once you were sitting in the hallway, out of the therapy room, Seonghwa opened the windows to let in fresh air. He didn’t care if the electricity bills leaped into astronomical prices; Charlotte deserved to pay a bit more anyways, since she hadn’t done her job as a therapist and helped you.
Seonghwa put his own jacket on you.
“Breathe in through your nose and let it out through your mouth.”
You listened to Seonghwa’s guidance. After a while, you just felt exhausted. You had gone through a panic attack, and it had taken a toll on your body. Only now you noticed how sweaty you were yet chills still shook your body.
“Can you tell me what caused you this distress?” Seonghwa asked, tracing circles on the back of your hand.
As you explained the envelope that had slipped in through your mail slot, and what the letter said, Seonghwa’s eyes grew concerned.
“Have you considered telling the police?”
“I don’t know if there’s anything they can do in practice.”
“You could ask Yunho. He probably knows.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the mention of Yunho. That man was most likely the one behind all of this! If you told him that you were going to snitch on him to the police, he’d kill you faster.
“I can’t. Please, Seonghwa. Don’t tell anyone about this.”
Seonghwa looked worried but gave a reassuring smile and a nod, “I won’t. Your secret is safe with me.”
Once you two came back to the therapy room, everyone looked grim.
“Y/N. I don’t want to worry you even more, but I think you need to hear this.”
You gulped and nodded your head, giving Charlotte your permission to continue.
“We noticed that the handwriting in the letter you received is same that in the threatening letters to San, Wooyoung and Yeosang.”
Was that supposed to surprise you? The stalker, who had followed you home, and given the envelope and letter, was clearly trying to isolate you. He was trying to have you all alone, at his mercy, cornered like a mouse.
“I understand your reaction, since this letter seemed quite scary, but I think there’s nothing to be afraid of,” Charlotte continued.
“But this-”
“It’s just your wild imagination playing tricks on you again. There’s no danger. Those letters were nothing but a stupid joke.”
The rest of the session, you stayed silent, staring at the floor. Others were exchanging stories and experiences of their lives, doing what you should have done as well.
But it wouldn’t be safe for you to tell anything more about yourself. The stalker was among the group, gathering more information about you every second.
Every breath you took was pained, lungs feeling like they would rip from the massive amounts of air you took in to stay calm.
The session went on and on, everyone seemingly relaxed. It was so unfair. So fucking unfair that you had to be the one, shaking in fear, when no-one but Seonghwa took your concerns seriously.
After many excruciatingly slow minutes, the session ended and you were able to leave and go home finally. Although you weren’t completely safe at home either, it was the one place you could barricade yourself in.
“Did you forget something?” Jongho’s voice startled you as you were walking out.
Realizing you were supposed to talk to him after the session, you stopped in your tracks. That didn’t stop your shaking though. Even Jongho himself had said that everyone was a possible threat, including him.
“Do you want to know why I wanted you to sit next to me?”
“Yes, please,” you nodded, trying to keep your voice steady.
You shouldn’t show any weakness in front of him.
Jongho looked around, making sure everyone was out of earshot. Sounds of Wooyoung and San’s loud conversation somewhere echoed in the house but it seemed like they wouldn’t hear Jongho’s words. Jongho had a serious expression, a slight frown on his handsome face. He then turned his eyes on you, a hint of sympathy flickering in them.
“I want to protect you. I know someone from the group is following you.”
It scared you how observant Jongho was. What else did he know?
“I have a proposal to you which may help.”
Your ears perked up although you had already been listening almost too intently.
“Go ahead.”
Jongho’s voice was careful yet firm, like he knew what he was going to suggest would be difficult to hear yet a clever idea, “I’ll pretend to be your boyfriend.”

[Some behind-the-scenes ramble and close-ups under cut]
My AU's ao3 equivalent tag is "Alternate Universe - Gods & Goddesses", specifically drawing inspiration from Khelren's Godsend TTRPG setting (though you do not need any knowledge of the ttrpg to enjoy the fics):
In Godsend you roam the lands as the avatar of your god, cursing mere mortals and presenting gifts to the chosen ones. Your memories are numerous, made of the lives of your predecessors, your power is almost limitless. Will you use it to fulfil the will of your god? Or, as the end times draw near, will you try to save the world? (from the itch.io page)
I had my heart set on making Clethubs AU (to no surprise of anyone's i'm sure) so that's the main characters/ avatars settled- but who shall be the gods?
There are 6 domains in the Godsend setting: Death, Justice, Knowledge, Nature, Trickery, and War.
To me, it was obvious to put Bdouble "moss" O100 under the Nature domain, and Zombie "zombie" Cleo under Death. Then after some comtemplation Etho "free glass" sLab was slotted underneath Trickery.
What remains is to find the Hermist/ Traffic-lifers that are 1) connected to the domains 2) related to the avatars.
(fyi i drew all those feather strokes manually by hand with my lineart brush) (why? well,)
Grian came to mind immediately when I thought of "Trickery" (Though Cub, Scar, and a couple of other Hermits also fit). I wanted to build the god-avatar relationship on the Etho-Grian dynamic specifically.
Scar was chosen based on his S9 theme (wood elf) and his history with Bdubs (S7 mayor race). Baiscally the concept of King maker/ Second-in-command Bdubs was stuck in my brain. (Sorry Stress :[ )
Death was a trickier one. While it would be funny to have Grian-Scar-Mumbo to be (half of) the pantheon, Mumbo fit the Knowledge domain better. (ignoring his Peace, Love, and Plants deal for a sec; even then I think that's more Nature-aligned) so I went with the classic option of Zedeath.
Beyond this point (until "===") is me overanalysing/ blue-curtaining the black & white piece. You have been warned (/silly)
This piece's composition used a circle/three-parter as its base, witih the circle centred on the castle/city in the middle of the map. Etho was fully isolated in Grian/Trickery's third of the space, but Nature crossed over into Death's space easily the two domains are closely related imo. It was natural for things to end (death), and endings fueled the next cycle of nature life.
It seemed that all the gods are looking at the world/map, however since their pupils are obscured (non-existent in Scar's case) it was difficult to say for certain. Though you might be able to tell where their interest lie, if you look at the distance between the deities and the mortal realm and where their hands rest.
Death carefully rested his elbow on the line separating him and Nature, but his left hand was dangerously close to Bdubs. And it looked like it was ready to come down and press direcly onto the corner of the map, tilting or even flipping the chessboard over. In his right hand held the scythe, posed to swing. The edge of his scythe faced Cleo, pointing towards them like he could harvest their life whenever at his whim.
He also looked at the world from directly above (though you could say he was biased towards Cleo's point of view since he's not centered+ he was positioned behind them), meaning that he saw all lives as "equal", or have an especially detached but not uncaring view regarding the world (like a scientist looking microorganisms in his petri dish).
In contrast, Grian/Trickery leaned in close to the world, lowering his head so his eye level was almost at the ground level of the world. Like he was looking through the mortals' point of view, understanding the state of affairs through humans' moralities and values (through Etho, even, since Grian was positioned behind him).
His eyes were wide in anticipation. While he carefully kept his hands close, they were also touching the world directly; which was a thing no other god did in the piece. It was like he was waiting for the right moment to reach out and disrupt whatever that's happening on stage. As we all know, no matter how much Grian tries to restrain himself, he will press the button.
Scar is the most... detached/ distanced from the world as a whole? He reclined backwards, his visible hand resting on his knee. He might be looking at the world, or he might be looking at Grian, or was his attention on bdubs? Even with the signature :J smile on his face, he got this air of indifference. Maybe Nature believed that everything will run their fated courses without his influence.
The flowers on Scar's clothes were sunflowers (sides of his corset), roses (back of corset and forearm), and a very specific lilac brush I had to download. Flowers that were closely related to a certain series :3c
Shoutout to w4r (War for Rayuba) for the chessboard map idea. ily octs It's really funny that Bdubs, Cleo & Etho all start/ were currently standing on black tiles (<- did not count the tiles and only realised that after i started to fill in the black)
Let's talk (more) about body language and outfits and black-white ratio (I am Reaching here) (not that I wasn't in the previous part) (but I am Reaching even further)
Etho has a very clear cut B&W shading with minimal grey/cross-hatch areas. He is the least ink-blocked. He knows what his beliefs are and the lines that he will/won't cross.
He has a semi-relaxed stance, tilting back slightly. He has one hand on his hip but the other by his side remain open-palmed. He isn't not listening to new proposals, but he is considering (and judging) them carefully.
Bdubs' moss cloak and boots has a clear divide in b&w, but not his outfit (pants)/headband. Both the cloak and boots are nature-aligned: cloak is, well, made of moss; and boots to walk the earth, the only thing separating him and the dirt (though at the same time, supporting him).
Nature is clear in what it wants. While there may be bright parts mixed in shadows, and flecks of shade within the "light", Nature holds a firm stance based on layers and layers of understanding.
Bdubs is also reaching out with an open palm. He is open for dialogue, perhaps preaching/ prompting others to communicate as well.
Cleo is the darkest/ most shaded among the three. She has highlights on the edges of her armour, but overall her armour is mainly shades of grey. Unlike Etho/Bdubs whose outfits' base color is largely white/empty, the visible parts underneath her armour (gloves and pants) are solid dark. She is dressed for blood and combat. It also gives the impression that she has this fierce determination/ conviction (darker tones being more "serious").
Her posture- legs wide, slouched/ leaning forward- makes her look aggressive/ stressed. Her hands are balled up into fists, one of them holding onto the flag/banner (of Death). Even then, the way she holds the banner isn't one that says it's for morale. She holds it like a spear, like a weapon.
There's also something about fabric/ extra fabric on the characters.
Etho has the least fabric on him but he has this shawl wrapped around himself. And the shawl itself is very still/ motionless. Bdubs' outfit is very round and gives like a grounded/soft vibe while the ribbon around his head drags behind him. but Cleo has neither of those, the only fabric that waves in the air is her banner which is outside of her body/not connected to her.
=== === ===
The composition of my 2nd piece aimed to imitate the playbook's cover art (illustrated by Vash Taylor), with the slightly faded background and wispy banner. The path of the smoke meant to mimick Cleo's face stitches (as how I usually draw them), where it crawls up her right cheek, crosses her nose bridge and passes through her eye.
Shoutout to "google search: zombie hands" stock photos and silhouette images, they saved my life when I was struggling with the foreground.
If you read through all this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and hope everything will be going splendid for you in the month of August!! Even if you didn't and just swiped past after realising there's too many words behind the read more I wish you the same :D
Once again, please check the fics if you are interested in the AU!! Dust, Flesh, and Bones is a multi-chaptered long fic and before we lose the sound of our own mouths calling mine, mine, mine. is a 9k one-shot! They are both so dear to me I hold them close to me heart,,

I wanted to improve my last walking dead template, so I managed to make an improved version with areas for character quotes, more room for backstories, the removal of the gif section that took up a majority of the space from the last template, and an additional weapon slot. I have another "one-page" template that you can look up in my blog! While this template is Walking Dead-Themed, it can easily be tailored for zombie apocalypse roleplays and other post apocalypse settings. Next time, I'll try my hand with either Attack On Titan or Fallout The link below will link you to the two Google Doc files! SURVIVOR Note: The Last item on the fifth page has my Discord tagline for my Discord User, please do not remove this! My Discord Info [<VIGILANTE>] - Nickname [vigilante7567] - Username

That previous ask got me thinking. What else do you think would change about VLD if it was written now compared to back then? What are some of the major changes would you make to it? (Know I have plenty of my own, but I'm too much in the TWST fandom to do a fic rewrite of that series.)
Hi there, thank you for the Ask!
I got caught up in overthinking this one, and had to scale back my answer quite a bit. It's a great question and I can easily go off into so many tangents.
For the first part, this might be a cop out, but I think that almost everything about VLD would change if it were written now compared to 2015-2018. Looking back, it really seems like VLD is such a product of its time that it would be very different if written and produced now, even if same writers, producers, show runners, DreamWorks, Studio Mir, etc. There would be a few big changes that have a snowball effect on everything else, and it comes down to target demographics.
Animation for older audiences must be doing well, so I could see that if VLD were made today, it would be written for an older audience (I dunno, like young adults and people who watch “The Boys” or whatever), possibly with slightly older main characters and the story begins with that darker concept—I forget if this was rumor or confirmed—of the Earth already starting off ruined from war with the Galra and Keith, Lance, Pidge, Hunk, Shiro, etc already fighting as soldiers before becoming the paladins. I’m probably getting that confused, but I remember reading something like that as part of the initial concepts for the show.
Or, because it’s DreamWorks, then the audience would be younger, so that the main characters are tweens and young teens (like 11 - 14). I only say that, because that’s closer to what almost everything else DreamWorks makes that isn’t for toddlers, or spinoffs of their movies for children. It’d be something with a more youthful vibe. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t tackle slightly mature themes, such as in Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, Trollhunters, or The Dragon Prince. In that case, the story would almost entirely revolve around Keith (like way more than it already did).
Now, if there were things that I could change (not that I know anything about getting a show made, but whatever), it would be:
Pick a tone (or genre, or theme) and stick with it;
The main characters are robot pilots, not GI Joe Special Forces in Space (this also means no Blade of Marmora unless they are also piloting robots);
No magic. No caste of sacred Alteans. No space vampires. No space zombies. No fantasy window dressing. Psionic abilities can slot in for magic, and advanced science will often look like magic to those with far less advanced science. If cloning exists, then it can co-exist with psionics to give Zarkon et al immortality;
No shape-shifting Alteans. With psionic abilities they don’t need it;
Pollux exists, and “The Colony” concept remains in the trash where it belongs;
Zarkon and the Galra should not have already conquered the entire universe (which is always expanding and is so impossibly huge that not even 10,000 years would get an entire galaxy conquered, even with "magic");
If I'm going to crib something from Robotech, and that something is protoculture (e.g. quintessence), then I'm going all in and not stopping at the front door
Specific character related stuff is a very long essay, as there is much (perhaps most) things that I wouldn't change, but what I would change requires a lot of thought

absolutely ENTHRALLED by the way that eggman has this ongoing warlock/wizard/sorceror vibe throughout the series and man its so interesting
at first glance eggmans all new-fangled tech and steel but hes got this odd fascination with mythology and folklore that always seems to creep into his designs. dragons, krakens, giant serpents, references to astrology and spiritualism, luck-based events like slots or pinball, its all over the place. adding onto that, he has a bizarre knack for discovering, analysing, and then conquering mystical power sources like sealed gods or chaos energy and its just. NEVER TALKED ABOUT???
and then theres his creations, both of whom are... very interesting. sage is obviously designed to have very ghostly attributes, but the flickering red patches over her skin and clothes immediately reminds you of a zombie. and metal sonic... well, a lot can be said, but i feel like its VERY interesting that his "final" form is essentially a mass of shapeshifting "quicksilver", which is a term coined by alchemists who believed metals had mystical connections to planets.
like this isnt some theme pulled out of nowhere this has been an ongoing theme for eggman for DECADES now and literally nobody ever talks about it!!!

"Our feathered arms, our stockinged legs. / The intricate paws, the filleting tongue. / We love what we are; we love what we’ve become." - Michael Collier, “All Souls” from The Ledge
The nights come sooner, the shadows grow longer, and a chill settles in the air— as the clock approaches the darkest hours of the night, something strange is afoot in the halls of the Carat Library…
Guidelines: October’s event will have the theme of spine chillers. Each submission must:
follow our regular reblog criteria as listed in the official rules,
exceed our event word minimum of 1k words,
and feature elements of fantasy or the supernatural.
While it’s not a requirement for submissions to fall into the horror genre, or even to be scary, we encourage all participants to be festive and adventurous this October.
For this collab, slots are limited to one participant per member AND concept. For example, if someone has claimed the slot for Jeonghan and vampire, you cannot write for Jeonghan and another concept, nor can you write for another member and a vampire concept.
Some examples of concepts include, but are not limited to, ghosts, angels and demons, zombies, wizards/magic, mermaids, yōkai, nymphs and fairies, etc.
To participate: Send @honeykyeom a direct message with your planned member and concept, and she will reply privately to confirm your proposed slot. To see which slots are still available, see the masterlist below.

P, Q, T 👀
*insert grumble mumble while I hunt down which questions those are*
P- invent random AU for a fandom.
Uhhh... Klondike gold rush era Alaska. 1890s and there's money coming out of the ground at the ends of the earth. The corners of the map have all been filled in but there is one last frontier to explore. The mounties are making your characters carry 3 years worth of supplies up the chilkoot pass. They have more money than God in a place where there is nothing to buy. Wump opportunities galore. The only people actually turning a profit are the outfitters and the whores. The closest version of western civilization is a tent city in a swamp run by gangs stealing luggage. (Anchorage mention) Robert Service is writing poetry about a frozen zombie mailman. Jack London is writing about murder dogs.
Yeah.
I am not optimistic about the quality of a gold rush AU written for fan fic purposes because its a super niche thing that would require assloads of research, but its an incredibly rich setting and frankly a fucking insane period of history. Go read the Cremation of Sam Mcgee and slot in whoever you feel would fit. Tag it as #wouldn't it be fucked up if
Q- i don't so much abandon ships as I put them in drydock and forget about them. I have a habit of latching onto underdeveloped characters in mediocre media that are never going to get any more fleshed out than "cute naive love interest" or "comic relief character #2" and then I'm vaguely dissapointed when the mediocre media wraps up and is content to leave them as accessories of the plot. I have a handful of fics that started as ships, and I did so much work extrapolating personalities and fleshing out the characters that it just became original fiction. The worst offenders are usually Shonen Manga and action movies because while there is a solid chunk of my media taste that is a 9 year old boy who wants to see explosions and superpowers and giant rock-em sock-em robots, those are generally not the kinds of stories that have much in the way of character depth.
Though, sometimes I am surprised and a ship I had thought was moldering away in the back, ready to be scuttled for artificial reef building, comes charging up to the forefront guns blazing and colors flying. Usually when someone has an opinion about Christopher Eccleston. NineRose doesn't so much live in my head rent free as it chewed a hole in the wall and pops out at random moments.
T- do I have any headcannons i will die defending?
I have a bit of a unique approach to head cannons. If it makes the story work better If it makes the story work better then everything is fair even if its contradictory. Senshi is the equivalent of a 20-year-old with a full beard and a 1000 yd stare is supported by canon and contradicted by the supplemental material, but thats not the thing that makes or breaks the headcannon. Its hilarious and fits the themes, despite the fact its not the authors intent.
I do get protective over intentional allegory especially unstated intentional allegory. Just because there isn't a great big banner stating that Pacific Rim, the movie about giant monsters from the ocean, rated on a 1 to 5 category system, showing up specifically because of rising CO2 levels and a warming atmosphere, that the goverment decides to fight for a little bit and then ignore and slap an in effective seawall on it and just let everyone on the coast get fucked, is about hurricanes, doesn't mean that I'm making things up when I say it's about hurricanes. The same with reading the Matrix as a trans allegory. The Wachowski Brothers were the Wachowski Sisters by the time they finished making a trilogy about taking a pill to remain comfortable in the status quo or taking a different pill to make some difficult changes and see the world as it is. So denying any queer interpretation of those movies is somewhere between willful ignorance and illiteracy, especially when the pills are color coded to zanax and oral estrogen.

Okay. So D&D 5e is on its way out, the new playtest is changing things and a lot of people have sworn off WotC anyway, so this might be my last chance to post this where it has any relevance.
Why Warlocks don’t get Animate Dead
You’ve seen people say it. Animate Dead seems like it should fit Warlock’s lore perfectly, they’re the spellcasters with connections to dark, evil forces, they rule over the weak willed and bind themselves to things from the beyond, why wouldn’t they be able to accumulate a few zombies?
Well, part of it is that it’s not just a few, but we’ll get to that in a minute. Ultimately, the restriction here is not thematic, but mechanical. The spell Animate Dead has a specific proviso that feeds into the narrative the game is trying to tell with it: If you don’t re-up the spell on any undead you’ve got around within 24 hours of creating them, and each 24 hours thereafter, you lose control of them and they turn against you. You are playing with forces beyond your control, and if you don’t monitor your resources as a spellcaster carefully, they will try to kill you. The way Warlocks work in 5e completely negates that: they get their leveled spells back on a short rest. With a warlock casting it, Animate dead goes from “Guys I used too many spell slots in that fight, we’ve gotta kill the stooges before they turn on us in a couple hours” to “Guys I used all my spell slots…as usual, gimme an hour so I can re-up our cannon fodder.” The risks built into the thematic elements of the spell are rendered harmless by how a Warlock is played, which also completely violates the themes of the Warlock! This is the “dark magic has consequences” class and when you give it the “dark magic has consequences” spell, the two cancel each other out! Two wrongs actually do make a right!
But that’s not the only thing
The Undead Army Build
So, it is actually possible to get your hands on Animate Dead as a Warlock without much finagling. I mean sure, there’s the Undying Servitude invocation, but that’s once a day explicitly for the problems stated above, that’s not gonna work for us.
However, the Golgari Agent background from Guildmasters’ Guide to Ravnica, like all backgrounds in that book, grants access to a handful of extra spells that might be outside your class’ normal spell list. Golgari, being a sewer-dwelling death cult-slash-municipal waste and agriculture department, throws Animate Dead in there.
Now Warlock is not one of the “suggested classes” for that faction, but the book does specify that the Great Old One patron is appropriate for any Guild, and the (not yet published when this was printed) Undead or (justifiably ignored) Undying patrons would be entirely fitting for an organization intermittently run by sewer liches. Also who cares what the book suggests, you’re not here because you respect authority.
Once you’ve got that figured out, make sure you’re an Elf or a Reborn (either of which is also very appropriate for Golgari, look at you adhering to themes!) so you can finish a short rest in four hours. Hours in the day are your currency here. Make sure you’re level five. Yeah. Level five(5). Also take Undying Servitude, just to double down.
First, get a whole lot of corpses. You’re supposed to be part of the sewer-cult that disposes of bodies in a fantasy ecumenopolis, so this should not be hard. Ideally you want to be within an hour’s shamble of the site of whatever horrible thing you plan on doing at the end of this, so find a nice location, possibly underground, with a lot of room.
Wake up, or rather come out of trance/deathlike stupor, and immediately cast Animate Dead twice with your two spellslots. Set your two zombies to guard you while you immediately take a short rest. Once you have your spell slots back, repeat the process. There is, to my knowledge, nothing in the rules preventing you from taking one short rest immediately after another. Repeat this each of your twenty waking hours. You now have 40 zombies to watch over you wile you take your 4 hour long rest.
(The mathematically minded among you may note that it should actually be 21 rounds of casting for 42 zombies, one at the start of each hour and one at the end of the last. However, Animate Dead takes a minute to cast, and your doing it 40-41 times a day, effectively squeezing another hour in between, resulting in 20 rounds of animation with 19 short rests in between.)
Now, here’s the thing. Animate Dead creates one zombie at a time, but it reestablishes control over up to four. So maintaining your zombies takes much less time that making them, about 5 hours for those 40 if you use the same pattern of cast-short rest-cast. Now you’ve got 40 undead that are good for the rest of the day and it’s not even noon yet! Let’s do something utterly horrific!
But wait…why stop there? You’ve got 15 more waking hours to work with.
Here’s a basic rundown of how your next few days can go. (I apologize if this formats weird for anybody, I couldn’t be arsed to make a chart as a pdf) D=day; sZ=starting zombies, how many you wake up with; HM=hours maintaining your existing zombies; HC=hours spent creating new zombies; nZ=new zombies made that day, sometimes with +1z from Undying Servitude’s free casting.

Two weeks later you’ve got one hundred and sixty undead minions at your disposal. Assuming a nice blend of about 2/3 zombies for front line cannon fodder and 1/3 skeletons for mobility, range, and flanking, DnD Beyond’s encounter builder puts that at roughly 32,000 adjusted XP, roughly equivalent to fighting one CR 21 monster. The way DMs talk about action economy, I think most would say that’s low-balling it.
(If you’re wondering why you don’t use the +1z from Undying Servitude every day, sometimes not using results in a sZ in a multiple of four, meaning the next day you’re using your HM time with perfect efficiency, re-upping four Zombies each time. Adding one more on those nights just means you have to spend a whole slot just to keep that one guy in line, functionally equivalent to just waiting to animate it the next day. Same reason you could get to 161 total but it’s not really worth it. You can use Undying Servitude on those nights, if you want; just be sure to send that zombie off on a suicide mission.)
Now, the diminishing returns on that Zeno’s paradox of necromancy is real. Honestly, if you’re smart, you can just stop after day 10, since the 152 zombies you’ll wake up with on day 11 will give you one free hour in which to regain spell slots for other things, so you can actually be a caster during whatever horrifying siege you have planned. Just make sure you’ve got the timing worked out on when your minions go bad so you can put the next group to time out on the front line. Azorius doesn’t know what’s about to hit it.
Final step: draw up a new character sheet because the DM will kill your character for pulling this off at LEVEL FIVE. The wizard got fireball, you got an undead horde in a fortnight. At higher levels I don’t wanna figure out the whole pattern, but at a Warlock’s maximum number and level of spell slots you max out at 640 zombies, plus you can take Create Undead as your Mystic Arcanum for some more powerful irregulars.
Don’t try this at home, kids. Or do, I’m not your mom.

Canlander Journal 7.1
I've decided to lose Vein Ripper for Massacre Wurm. I am looking for more ETB creatures that impact the board on entry and Wurm fits the bill better than Vein Ripper. I am running a bit sweeper heavy at this point but that might not be a bad thing-- I can pull back a bit if it turns out to be too much.
With the Zombie theme gone, Raise the Draugr loses it's raison d'etre. I'm losing it for Baleful Mastery, which I think should slot in nicely; I need efficient flexible removal that hits walkers and making my opponent draw can be an upside for me in the right circumstances.
Liliana, Waker of the Dead is a budget Lili at best, with an unreliable removal mode. I'm cutting her for the flexibility of Inscription of Ruin.

Infective Wild™
Infective Wild™ is an online slot game that combines the thrills of a traditional slot machine with unique features, often including wild symbols, free spins, and bonus rounds that make gameplay more engaging. The game’s theme typically revolves around a zombie apocalypse, with a focus on infection, contagion, and survival, which is popular in many modern video slot games. Here's a breakdown of the main elements of how Infective Wild™ generally works, including gameplay, features, and tips for playing:
General Features of Infective Wild™ (Slot Game)
Theme and Design
The game often revolves around a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies or a viral outbreak.
Expect dark, gritty graphics with symbols that could include items like viruses, biohazard symbols, syringes, and infected characters.
The soundtrack tends to be ominous and suspenseful, setting the tone for an exciting and high-energy game experience.
Reels and Paylines
Typically, this game features 5 reels and a set number of paylines (often 25 or 50 paylines).
Winning combinations are formed by matching symbols along the paylines from left to right.
Wild Symbols
The Wild symbol is a key feature in most modern slot games. In Infective Wild™, the wild may represent an infected symbol that substitutes for other symbols to complete winning combinations.
In some versions, the wilds may multiply or trigger additional bonus rounds, making them even more valuable.
Scatter Symbols
Scatter symbols are another key feature in Infective Wild™ and usually trigger free spins or other bonus features.
Landing a certain number of scatter symbols (typically 3 or more) will activate free spins or bonus rounds, giving you extra chances to win without placing additional bets.

2024 Watch Thread Part 6
Part 5
I accidentally deleted a few of these so some may be brief
Gundam Requiem for Vengeance: It is a true successor to MS IGLOO: well rendered, acceptably written but occasionally amusingly comical with its character animation. 6/10
Star Trek Beyond: With each rewatch, I notice how the characters directly state the themes of the film, though I can't help but love it. It has the spirit of trek in its heart. 8/10
Pluto (anime): The double-issue structure didn't work for me at the start, but it really won me over by the end. I really latched onto a few of the plotlines, though I was a little ahead for a few. 'Astro boy' and 'Gulf War' aren't concepts I ever expected to link in my head. 8/10
Wallace and Gromit-Curse of the Were-Rabbit: Delightful and funny. A great date night movie 7/10
Skyrim-Vigilant: The humble start belies the exponential scope and execution of each subsequent chapter. At a certain point I went from 'we get it, you like FromSoft' to 'holy shit' to 'damn that's believably canon'. Sadly, this mod left me with a net negative feeling. Certain items were bugged and poisoned my saves once I made it to Coldharbour. Unfortunately, I have to leave it unfinished.
Cybuster—I was curious about the premise, but when the obvious twist took 8 episodes to come to roost, I was checked out. I watched as much as I could before giving in and skipping around. The animation gets bizarrely budgeted and the digipaint inserts feel painfully stilted. This should've stayed as an OC robot in SRW. 3/10
Steel - There's something so good-natured about late 90's and early 2000s superhero movies. They didn't need to be accurate, but they knew how to have fun. Their commitment to camp allowed them to be creative in the way that makes tokusatsu good, Shaq's ear-to-ear grin is infectious. -8/10
Zelda Unknown Origins—This is such a capsule to the pre-Hyrule historia era of Zelda. The edges hadn't gotten sanded off yet, and this teenage angst won us over with its earnestness. There is a moment where the number of OCs overtakes the canon characters. -6/10
SantaStein - This had a little more juice than these low budget 'comedy' 'horror' movies usually do, but it never really delivered. -5/10
The Last Airbender (2010) - This is even more baffling as an adult. The Fire Nation didn't just throw the world out of balance when they started the way, they also have the only actors with any talent on their side. The only redeeming quality is the funny-bad bending. This movie sucks. -4/10
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl - A mechanically perfect movie. 10/10
Project Borealis Prologue - It all just feels wrong. The looks, sounds and feels of everything just don't feel right. It was too short for me to really get used to the different feel, but my first impression wasn't great. 3/10
A-Tech Cybernetic VR - I was excited for the doom 2016 VR that it seemed to be trying to be, but the execution wasn't there. The experience was just kind of off. All the equipment slots were in awkward overlapping positions and the enemies weren't that interesting. It particularly lost me when it cheated and spawned some zombies behind me in a dark corridor, and the whole experience just felt cheap from there. 4/10
The Man From UNCLE - More of these please. 7/10
Deadpool and Wolverine: Didn't move the needle for me at all. I think I smiled once? Huge Actman sure did turn in a performance this movie didn't deserve. 3/10
The Funny World of Pets - Few 'movies' have made me laugh this hard. Nonsensical dialogue that doesn't match canned animations of animals sitting in fixed locations, that occasionally cut to random stock footage of animals. I laughed so hard I begged for the guy with the remote to pause it. -9/10
Free Birds - What the hell, this movie was hilarious. Good comedic timing can overcome any shortfalls in its animation. Great group watch. 7/10
Troll 2: This film is truly bizarre but didn't reach the mythic heights I was promised. It was too interested in its attempts at plant gore and gross food stuff to pace the good-bad well. -5/10
PseudoRegalia - This game had a specific vision and felt like it executed exactly what it aimed to be. I did end up feeling good about the movement system by the end, but there were a few moments where the tolerances of certain chains of wall jumps were too tight to feel fun. 7/10
420BLAZEIT 2: GAME OF THE YEAR -=Dank Dreams and Goated Memes=- [#wow/11 Like and Subscribe] Poggerz Edition: Game of the year edition - It's like Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, but instead of having wit, it has movement. Blasted through this in one sitting with a friend. Having to use off-brand memes feels strange, but I'm glad they could work it into the plot. There were a lot of fun ideas and gameplay moments. Using side objectives for guns was a great way of giving clues to more hidden gags and incentivizing repeated play. 7/10
Sprawl - It took a bit for the combat to 'click' for me. Its mix of bullet time and addicting enemy arenas call to mind how I wanted Doom Eternal to feel, though I think it failed in the execution in a few areas. The first area didn't really explain the wall running particularly well, and I only found myself 'getting' it in the latter half. Unfortunately, the ending fell a little flat due to the script timing being a bit off. I'm a bit over Blade Runner-style orientalist cyberpunk now, but the trans pride flag in the background of the credits was amusing (not at all surprising tho lol). 7/10
Hero - Points for big imperial city shenanigans and wuxia action, but it didn't quite land for me. Maybe its because an error on netflix's end made the sound way out of sync. 6/10
Freaked - Possibly the most 90's movie that doesn't include a skateboard. The gag density makes up for any early overreliance on gross-out prosthetics. They just don't make comedies like this anymore. 7/10
