Hi! Nice to meet you. I adore your story and drawings, but seeing the story of Sheik and everything he went through for being a non-blonde boy who received the blessing of one of the goddesses and the triforce of wisdom, made me wonder what would happen if there was a female Zelda reincarnation of Hylia but looking more Sheikah than Hylian (you know silver hair instead of blonde and eyes that can be red or a mixture of purple instead of blue), suppose it's because her mother is Sheikah and Impa is her grandmother? How would the royal family treat her?Sorry to bother you with that but my brain couldn't help but wonder.
Tumblr media
SORRY. IT TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO ANSWER THIS IS THINK TUMBLR IS GLITCHED?? It’s tweaking. Like genuinely tweaking. Anyways.
It’s funny because this is kinda lowkey the lore I have for Hilda in Shadow Over Hyrule. Kinda. A little. She’s the illegitimate child of the Hylian Queen after a fling with a Sheikah guy. But I had an excuse to show a character and GODDAMMIT IM GONNA SHOW HER because I think she deserves the world.<3
anyways. To answer your question my friend. I think that the entire prospect changes when you put Impa in the position of grandma because holy shit. So much stuff that happened to sheik would NOT happen to this hypothetical princess. The Queen wouldn’t even try to pull any bleach shit. Because Impa would be IN THERE DUDE. she would not put up with ANYTHING. It’d be OVER. More under the cut
Overall though I think it would change a lot. The reason that Sheik’s hair was bleached is because their hair was black, which, you know, the Royal family has weird connotations with “darkness”. Kinda like zeldatubers. It’s almost like none of the events of Twilight Princess ever happened. “Light is nothing without darkness, they are two sides of the same coin and when isolated everything becomes one-dimensional.” “So dark evil. I understand.” If they had grey hair, I don’t think they would react the same. The red eyes though? Probably a different story. Idk. Anyways sorry for yapping but I love hypotheticals!!

How do you characterize the ancient hero and the princess of the first calamity era? I'm obsessed with them but can never seem to decide on what they're like - so I'm curious how you imagine them!
Edit: don’t read this . It is outdated and dumb + I somehow mischaracterized my own characterizations. Not even sure how I managed to do that to be honest
HI!!!! I’m very happy about this ask. sorry in advance
Just a warning. My interpretations of the ancient hero and zelda are very, very oc-ified. Absolutely none of this is based on facts I am straight up making things up about them. anyway i hope you enjoy
My ancient hero is the worst guy ever. Insufferably cocky and is somehow still very good at what he does (in this case, being the hero chosen by the Master Sword). Unfortunately, he knows how good he is and makes it everyone else’s (especially zelda's) problem. He’s the Main Character. Of course, all of this is probably a cover-up for some kind of low self-esteem or deep-set insecurity or something, but that isn't really that important. right
My ancient zelda takes her role of princess/goddess reborn very seriously. (I mean, she has to.) While she puts on a stoic face for others, she is secretly riddled with dread. Although she is pretty (genuinely) confident in her abilities, she can't help but fear that despite her best efforts, something will go wrong, and she will be responsible for failing her kingdom and bringing it to ruin. yeesh
The ancient hero and zelda do NOT get along with each other (WELL. That isn't completely true? i guess? they become friends during the calamity i think. idk. character development or something)
Zelda feels as though the hero isn't treating his responsibilities with the respect they deserve. In a way she almost resents him for being allowed to act like a pompous child while she has to take on all the responsibility and worry that comes with trying to make sure absolutely everything goes to plan.
& The hero thinks zelda is far too high-strung, but he doesn't dislike her. In fact he likes to mess with her- to break her facade every once in a while. In his head, it's a waste of time to be afraid. Especially since they have the sheikah technology on their side. Ganon has been sealed before. Zelda's just ruining his fun for no reason. this'll be a piece of cake. right
ANYWAY this post is long and my ideas are half-baked I HOPE THIS ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION!!!! <3<3

I feel like Zelda does not recognize that her actions have consequences, which is. A very bad attitude for a leader to have, and seems to extend VERY far back in the Hyrulian royal family. You're also very right about them seeming to think that Ganondorf was too far beneath them to do any real harm. They thought they were being clever, but they failed to recognize that he can be very dangerous if he wants to be. This is entirely in a "good for her" way towards Ganondorf btw. So basically I am shaking Zelda by the shoulders and screaming "WHEN WILL YOU LEARN!!! WHEN WILL YOU LEARN THAT YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!!!"
Oh my god, right??? I mean, I'm not surprised, that kind of shit is just par for the course with royalty. They're literally born into a position of absolute power and authority, and told that they deserve it because they are fundamentally better people than literally everyone else, and all these lesser people exist only to serve them. That is the philosophical bedrock that a monarchy is built on. And in the LoZ universe it's a thousand times worse, because now we're also talking the divine right of kings (divine right of princesses in this case i guess), except it is canonically true. The literal canon says that the Hylian royal family has actually descended from a goddess, and that means they get to rule the world forever, and anyone who disagrees with them is pure evil to be crushed.
I mean, don't get me wrong aesthetically I love a good fantasy monarchy, that's just an inherent guilty pleasure of the genre. But I like them being done well. I don't want my fantasy royalty to just be the beautiful well mannered people that wear fancy clothes and sit on thrones. I like them being written as a person in a mandatory lifelong political position, and taking their duty as head of state really fucking seriously. Yeah, they're rich and powerful and live in a cool castle, but the trade off is that literally their entire life is dedicated to the betterment of the kingdom, regardless of what they actually want to do. That's the deal. You get anything you want, but you don't get to be your own person. If you don't want to do the job, then you don't get to have the privilege that comes with it. Honestly, one of the best examples I can think of off the top of my head is Riju; she's the unelected leader of the Gerudo and took the throne as a child... and took her responsibility really fucking seriously. She's been an exemplary leader in all her apperances, and she's clearly dedicated to the idea that being the head of state means serving your people above all else. She's dedicated her life to the wellbeing of the Gerudo, and that makes her an incredibly good person; she's more than earned her position and the benefits that come with it.
...And then we have Zelda, who isn't so good at this. Honestly, I'd say her main problem is just straight up entitlement; not really surprising given her environment. I mean for fucks sake, just look at how the civillians in TOTK treat her; I'm still absolutely horrified by that one sidequest where a research team misheard her instructions, thought she told them to go exploring in their underpants, and instead of refusing or even questioning the situation, they actually fucking did it. Every single one of them stripped naked, and set off to do their job in the manner the Princess had asked them to. A job that included going into monster dens. Now of course this is all silly, because naked people are funny, but if you actually think about it for five seconds, it's actually not funny at all. A group of civilians believed that their ruler ordered them to throw away their weapons, remove all their armour, strip naked, and walk into a monster den. This is outright said to be suicide. And they were actually going to fucking do it, without a single complaint or word of question. And the game's actual response to this is just "wow, it's so great to see how everyone's so devoted to our princess! this is a really heartwarming story". No game, I do not consider it heartwarming that a group of civillians were immediately willing to throw themselves to a pointless, agonizing death for no benefit other than Zelda's amusement. Not that she actually told them to do it, but the misunderstanding spiralling that far says so much about the state of Hyrule, and how much accountability Zelda is being held to. Which is to say, literally none whatsoever. Even when the fake Zelda is raising hell across the country and actively ruining lives, the only response from her apparent victims is to get worried that they haven't been showing Zelda enough devotion which is why they must have deserved this torment, so the only response is to dedicate even more of their lives to her service! Nobody questions her, nobody even gets angry or scared that she's seemingly hurt them. They just grovel at her feet.
The point I'm making here is that Zelda has spent years in an environment where literally everyone tells her that she is the most important person in the world, she deserves all the power, respect and riches, and she could never do anything wrong. That would go to anyone's head, and let's be real here... the game never even suggests that Zelda's tried to get people to take it down a few notches. She isn't worried about the mindless worship, she's perfectly okay with her country being a goddamn suicide cult. And you can see the entitlement coming across in her actions during the game - she has the four sages swear that their entire races will dedicate themselves to serving the Hylian royal family, and specifically their still-unborn descendants will take up the role to do her dirty work. She thinks it's perfectly reasonable to ask people to sell their unborn children into her service, and there's nothing ethically dubious about making demands of people who haven't been born yet, with two of them still being children when they're ordered to take up arms. And I realize it's a serious situation, but the game doesn't acknowledge this as being a morally grey action; the new sages are swearing to dedicate their lives to the glory of their god-ruler, how could anyone find that alarming?
And her treatment of LInk is particularly infuriating, because let's remember her, the last time she sees Link is immediately after he's been gloom-fucked by Ganon. His entire left arm is dead, and his beloved weapon is destroyed. She saw it happen. He absolutely could have just died right after she was yeeted back in time, because again, he was mortally wounded and in an extreme amount of danger. And even if he did live, he's just had his entire arm ripped off; after everything he's gone through, it would make perfect sense for him to finally hit a breaking point and decide he can't stand to fight anymore. My man's literally died before, and now he's lost his dominant limb, how could anyone be expected to keep going after that? But Zelda never even considers that Link might not be able or willing to fight for her. She treats it as a given that he's perfectly fine, and will do exactly what she wants even if she isn't there to order him around. It's not like he can think for himself, that would be ridiculous. Link is denied any and all agency; he can't even form his own opinions about the main plot or influence it in any way; everything was decided several thousand years ago. He's just here to do as he's told.
It just... all makes me think of that one memory in BOTW where Zelda runs away from Link, and when he catches up to do his fucking job, she greets him by angrily declaring that obviously she's the only one with a mind of her own. That was supposed to be her being way the fuck out of line, and abusing Link to deal with her own frustrations. But apparently TOTK... decided that she was right. Zelda is the only one with a mind of her own. Link's just here to follow her around and swing the sword when she tells him to.
It's just so fucking bleak, I hate this story so much. I love the gameplay, but I'm having a miserable time with the plot, every new development just makes me more frustrated and upset. I'm working on the fifth sage thing right now, and gotta say, absolutely fucking hate how Mineru refers to Link as just Zelda's Human Weapon. Like thank you furry goat lady, I realize that Zelda chose me to be her personal bootlicker, but I sure as hell didn't consent to any of this, and nobody has asked me if I'm actually willing to put my life on the line for this woman yet again.
At least BOTW fucking asked me if I was willing to risk my life to stop the Calamity.

Thank you for giving me permission to let me send any idea I get ^u^ your list has given me more ideas and thoughts 🩵 and it has helped play into a specific one ✨ so I am here to share one that had been at the forefront of my mind that I need to share with you and your amazing brain
Btw will be using fem pronouns cause it’s a bit easier for me to write this all out, but you don’t have to ^u^
I genuinely can’t stop thinking of all the possibilities that could arise from the chain— which now includes Cal and Sage whenever I talk about the chain as a whole, they deserve all the love 🩵— knowing that their goddess has a darker side. Before I get into that, will add that personally, I feel like y/n would never abuse that power, maybe cause she has some morals; never targeting kids ofc, but also those that flirt with her but back down immediately upon seeing her boys? Those people are fine, because they’re respectful at the very least— and don’t have the audacity to think they could ever measure up to even a fraction of her perfect boys. But others that keep pushing? Target acquired. But also I imagine she doesn’t want to abuse her power cause she doesn’t want to be even remotely close to Hylia or even Zelda; she actually genuinely loves and cares about her boys, and they already do so much for her, she would never want them to feel like she’s using them. Which, I mean to be fair, if we’re being technical, she kinda is using them, but it’s for her and her boys benefit ✨ she’s just giving them permission to deal with the scum of the earth
Anyway, back to the number one thought at the forefront of my mind, me thinks, as a treat for the boys since you mentioned that they find it hot as hell, them getting to witness their goddess as she chooses her next victim ✨
Before I do that, I wanna bring up some things you wrote, like from Sage figuring out reader knew what they were doing; “They enjoyed teasing the scum of the Earth, dangling their own supple body in front of them like a treat on a stick only to set their guard dog on them the second they overstepped.” This. This imagery right here is scrumptious. 10000/10 delicious. It sparked this idea in the first place. But also the fact that it’s not just one guard dog, it’s eleven guard dogs at the ready ✨ because even when the chain know the truth, that reader knows about their darker impulses and even encourages it, she still doesn’t stop goading those people into crossing a line so her boys can deal with them— at least, she won’t unless it genuinely upsets her boys, cause while she enjoys riling up the chain and seeing how possessive they can be, she doesn’t want to actually make them upset if they really don’t like it.
Which actually plays into another thing you wrote for the list— thank you for the list 🩵— specifically on Twilight’s part; “He's just a simple country boy who was raised in a village where everyone was honest, so he can only think the same of everyone, especially his Goddess, until proven otherwise.” Which again, this. I love this— I love everything you write but this had me going “awww” out loud, he’s so precious 🩵 but also this plays into the whole thing with reader not wanting to upset her boys. If the chain doesn’t actually like that she uses her body in a way that goads those scum, she’ll respect their wishes and just straight up tell them. Especially since well, she has nothing to hide if her boys know the truth, cause I feel like y/n— in an effort to not be in any way, shape, or form like Hylia or Zelda— would be honest with them about it. Literally straight up about who’s on her shit list.
And if we bring up the point system, the higher on her shit list, the more points the chain gets for dealing with them ✨ like if someone was flirting with her and wouldn’t back down? On her shit list but not very high up there, so extra points if the chain deals with them quickly. Someone saying some insulting shit about her boys?? Higher up on her shit list, extra points if the one who was getting insulted dealt with the person. Someone who insults her boys, flirts with her, and doesn’t back down???? The highest you could ever be on her shit list, extra points if they make it a painful death ✨ no one insults her perfect boys and gets away with it
So imagine this, the chain and reader at one of their castle towns, and y/n overhearing from one of the men they pass making a snide comment about that Hyrule’s Link and the chain getting to witness for the first time the way their goddess’s sweet smile tightens just the slightest bit, how her kind eyes shift into one that craves bloodshed but flickers back into that kind look so quickly, but now her eyes and smile hold something much sharper— except now she’s not directing that smile to them, she’s looking at the man that had the audacity to ever say anything about her boys. Now this is where the idea splits into two routes, cause I can’t be 100% sure whether or not the chain would want her to stop trying to goad the scum of the earth, so I shall give you both versions ✨
If the chain truly doesn’t mind, they would get to witness it with new eyes how their goddess expertly plays into the innocent role, how she maybe pretends to be lost or something and just uses her body in a way that gets her the exact reaction she wants from the man. Just like how you said, she dangled her body in front the man like a treat on a stick, just waiting for the man to overstep, and once he does, whether the chain pull their goddess away or she just drifts back to them, she’s content now that she’s gotten what she wanted, which is a target painted on that man. And she patiently awaits for her boys to deal with him like she knows they will.
Is the chain does mind, she gets closer to the Link of the Hyrule they were in, and since she would be honest, she would ask him if they knew that man, if he was of importance, and if anyone would notice if he just, disappeared. Never to be found again. Whether she has to be outright honest and bluntly asks them to deal with the man, or if that’s enough of a hint for them to have a target painted on the man, she’ll make sure they know exactly who she wants them to deal with.
Regardless of the route, the one(s) that deal with the man get lots of affection after they’ve dealt with the scum ✨
— 🫐 anon
🫐anon. Listen here-
Everything you just wrote up there?
I AM (s)CREAMING.
THERE IS SO MUCH TO GO OVER AND IM SO READY-
First, you didn't need permission lovely! I'm more than happy to read what you guys send and start a conversation. I feel like I've made some great friends here with all of you guys! And I'm so ready to hear all of your ideas. Because your brain=just as amazing man
Now, I love including Cal and Sage because those two when with Wild are such a delicious trio. Full of resentment and bubbling anger just waiting to boil over? Drives me nuts. There is just so much potential there and I wanna love them all because it's what they deserve.
I totally like that entire idea of Reader not abusing their power. I imagine they view themselves as a benevolent being rather than a strictly Godly one. Like you said, kids are out of the question. People who respect their boundaries and understand that they could never measure up to the deities that are their boys are imposing on another person's relationship (Whether it's poly, a cult, etc., etc.) are also safe. It's the ones who don't respect that line. Who cross it and view Reader as nothing more than a piece of meat. Who want nothing more than a quick lay. Those are people who Reader deems as expendable. Because, really, Hyrule would be a better place without them in it.
And they would have to really push it. Reader is only instigating it if they push. From then, it's just baiting the boys into seeing it. Because you're right. She doesn't want to be at all like Zelda- or Golden three forbid, Hylia. They did nothing but use and abuse her perfect companions, with little to no second though to the aftermath. While, yes, she is also using them to a degree, it's more of a trade. She'll give them companionship and someone to lean on rather than them relying on no one but themselves.
When it comes to them knowing their Goddess has a darker side (Should we give this an AU name? I feel like we should-), it absolute riles them up.
🫐anon. Lemme let you in on a lil' secret- When writing that line, I was literally giggling to myself like a whole ass school girl. Like I was damn proud of that line so thank you for noticing.
Imagine having eleven guards dogs, prowling about, waiting to attack first and ask questions later. All their waiting for is the command. If it does genuinely upset her boys, she can definitely step back.
I'm glad you like the list so much! It was fun to figure out! Yeah, honesty is a huge difference between Reader and Hylia/Zelda. They never came outright with anything, lest it be a life or death situation. They've all had issues like this with their Zeldas, who simply didn't tell them something until they were facing down death itself. She'll straight up be like, hey, this happened, deal with how you want to, or, better yet, I'm dealing with it, i'll be back in a few minutes.
Now. A point system.
🫐anon. Your genius knows no bounds.
Now, imagine, if you will, someone not only insults her boys, and flirts without backing down, but dares to try and touch whats not theirs. That is the absolute pinnacle of fuckery.
I imagine this would happen in like Warrior's Hyrule because, let's face it, his is the messiest. Most people, half of them absolutely hate Link for starting a war, the other half want him in their bed, very little in between. And their ballsy because who's gonna stop them? Those jokes they call knights? Yeah, right.
Now, option A)
The man has already pushed. He pushed a fragile dam and it snapped, now he's left to deal with the anticipated torrent. She's sauntering over to him, fluttering her lashes and puckering her lips, doing all of the cheesy moves to get what she wants. And it works. Once he's hooked, his fate is seal. Because the boys are not the one to truly fear. No, Reader is. She makes the calls. She'll determine if you are worthy of their time. If not, if you've failed her test before it even begins?
Count your hours because they are fleeting and they are fleeting fast.
Option B)
Let's say this is Warriors Hyrule, she'll go to him on how to deal with this directly. Depending on the Hyrule, she'll let that Link lead the way. Some, like Wars, require some tact and poise when it comes to dealing with unwanted pests. With populations as heavy as they are, there are some hurdles they have to jump to make sure its done properly. They can't be sloppy, or they'll get caught. If it's someone like Hyrule's or, hell, even Sage's Hyrules, they can get as sloppy as they want as long as they remain out of sight.
You bet your ass that they are absolutely soaking up all the attention bestowed upon them for a job well done. Anything for their Goddess.

Whumptober 2023 Day 3
Prompt: journal
Victim: Four
Words: 1346
Notes: Journaling really can help, but talking to people is also very important.
Zelda says that journaling will help me process the stuff that happened after I pulled the Four Sword. I'm not sure that I believe that, but she said I either had to use the journal, or talk things out with someone and I would rather jump in a cucco pen than talk about my feelings at this point.
I had a dream last night. I put the Four Sword back in the pedestal but didn't merge back into one person. It felt so real and then I woke up.
Maybe if I'd never pulled the Four Sword I wouldn't be so broken now. I don't even know who I am anymore.
I hate the way that people look at me now. They hate me because all they can see is the guy who sicced a dragon on the castle. Shadow was the real hero, though. I or we or whatever couldn't manage to fight one stupid flying eyeball so he sacrificed his life. He doesn't deserve this.
Zelda said we could make Shadow a memorial if I want. I need to think about it.
I told her yes. He shouldn't be forgotten. He gave up everything for Hyrule.
Today we went and made him a memorial. I cried. I miss him. I wish we'd been able to see eye-to-eye sooner. Maybe he wouldn't be dead and I wouldn't be alone.
The house is always empty. Dad is never home. It has to be my fault. He worked a lot before, but he always had time for me. Now he just avoids me. I wish I'd never pulled the Four Sword. Maybe then I wouldn't be crazy. I want things to go back to the way they were before.
I don't know if I can do this. I'm on indefinite leave for… something, and it's not like I can take an apprenticeship anywhere. I'm going crazy with nothing to do.
Everything is so stupid. Why can't anyone just treat me like a normal person!? I'm not a bomb, I'm not going to stab people in the back or set Castletown on fire for crying out loud! I just want to be a proper knight again and to have people respect me and shut up about Shadow.
Maybe I really am crazy.
I'm going to dig up the fire rod. They can't stop me.
In my defense, it was only a little fire. I just wanted to blow off some steam and thought that a controlled fire on Mount Crenel would be fine, but no, now I'm in solitary confinement for a whole day with nothing but this stupid journal.
I just want to feel whole again. I thought that maybe I could— look, it was a dumb decision, I know that, they don't need to rub it in my face.
Solitary confinement is overrated. So is probation. I hate life.
New plan: going to that place Blue got frozen.
Yeah, okay that was also a bad idea. Hypothermia is real.
I have been royally banned from travelling to any more "dangerous climates with dangerous weapons." Stupid Zelda and her stupid princess stuff.
I just want to be us again. I hate being this. I hate having so many thoughts and feelings and memories crammed in my head.
I don't care anymore, I need the sword back.
Well as it turns out the sword hates me. Great.
Back in solitary confinement. Two days for "vandalizing public property." If you ask me, the Four Sword's sanctuary shouldn't count as public property. Zelda and I are the only people who go there, and no one maintains it. Besides, the sword itself and it's stupid pedestal are apparently indesctructible because of stupid goddess magic, anyway.
I am at the end of my rope. If I can't split back, then I don't know what else to do. Everyone keeps telling me that "time heals all wounds" and stuff, but if anything it just gets worse with time. They don't get it. I was split into four people and then crammed back into one body and Shadow died.
Day 2 of solitary confinement. I really don't get why they think putting the crazy guy in solitary is going to make him less crazy. This is stupid.
I'm pretty sure crying every day isn't normal, but who even cares anymore.
I can't do this.
Turns out I have no choice. Some guy with the same name as me showed up at the house. He seems nice enough, so I told him I'd go fight evil or whatever with him. At least I can get something useful out of my life before I kick the bucket.
Ran into another person named Link. Nicknames are in order. I need to think about mine.
Having a new name feels good. Link didn't really fit anymore. I was Link before the Four Sword, then… well, now I'm Four. It feels right.
Sky and Hyrule are pretty nice. Hyrule seems a bit jumpy, but he takes good care of his sword, and Sky is basically just a star-crossed lover. I miss the way things were before I put the Four Sword back, but it's nice to have a distraction.
Today Twilight joined the group. He's got some weird tattoos on his face, and a wolf pelt for some reason, but he's also pretty nice. A bit obsessed with goats, though.
Twilight has integrated into the group well. He balances out Hyrule's wandering. I don't know how, but he always knows where everyone is.
Wind is pretty fun, but he reminds me of Red. It… hurts.
Wind is determined to be friends. I do not want to be friends.
I am now friends with Wind and have no idea how.
Time is unsettling, but seems to know what he's doing. He's kind of like how Dad was before the Four Sword.
Time is also a star-crossed lover. Him and Sky will not shut up about their wives.
Wild is very Wild. Twilight has taken to him, and so have Hyrule and Wind. I am preparing myself for pranks.
I want to go home.
Legend is a grump. I'm not sure if I like him or not.
Legend has adopted Hyrule. I am only a little bit jealous.
I'm crying in the woods. Legend is just like Blue. This is stupid and I hate it.
Warriors is kind of like me, except actually good at his job. I wish I'd been able to beat Vaati. Shadow would be alive if I was better at my job.
I want to punch Warriors in his stupid pretty face.
Sparring practice went okay. I haven't sparred properly in a long time, but I think I did good enough. Now I'm sore all over. I would be taking a bath, except SOMEONE is hogging all the water. Ugh.
I am so sick of walking. I wish Miss Fairy could just teleport us around. Man, that was convenient. I wonder where she is now?
I think I'm doing okay at fitting in, but they don't seem to expect much of me. Maybe it's because I'm short?
Finally got to punch Warriors in the face. I'm sitting in jail, but it was so worth it. That felt good.
Legend bailed me out. That was weirdly nice of him.
Wind made me talk about feelings. The audacity.
Okay, so maybe talking it out helped. Maybe Wind was right about communicating with the group better.
We did more talking today, this time it was everyone. It went well. They didn't hate me for anything I told them, and they actually understood how I felt.
I'm going to keep the journal just in case, but I have people I can trust now. It's going to be okay.

No Woman Beyond (Epilogue)
*DISCLAIMER* This is the official ending of this fanfic and also the PG-13 version. The next post will be the alternative smutty ending so this is totally the readers prerogative. Thanks for reading my work! I hope you enjoyed this little fairytale of the Hero of Time and the contest of his heart (Which was none other than you dear reader ;)*
Applause was rampant throughout the audience.
After your waltz with Link, you both unwillingly broke away. The taste of each other fresh on both of your lips. You whisked your glances towards each other, awaiting the announcer to rally the crowd.
Which from the looks of things would be no easy feat.
There were girls sobbing over the hero's declaration of true love. Men winced from the immense scolds of lonely housewives throughout the crowd.
"How come YOU never kiss me like that?"
"You didn't even say things like that on our wedding day!"
"Seems like Link is also the hero of romance. Someone needs to show these men how to treat their wives!"
Link gave you an unsteady glance. "How did I save Hyrule, only to destroy it again?" You couldn't help but chuckle and slip your hand within his. Hollers and accolades were still making rounds throughout the crowd. Some grotesque profanities were being yelled by sore losers. Then there were also some shouts of encouragement...
"Thank Hylia! If you two didn't kiss, I would have come up there and shoved your heads together!" You traced the rowdy, feminine voice to Malon. She sat on Epona, clapping midair. "Kiss again!" She began to chant as others started to join in.
Link began to furiously blush as he sheepishly turned towards you. He pulled you into him once again. A feeling you decided you could never tire of. The announcer stood in the background, clearing his throat. "It seems the hero has made his decision."
Link didn't bother to answer as he drew you into his lips once more. Your kiss was the ultimate hero's welcome. Something that had motivated him to prevail along his journey. You both parted in reverence as you heard Zelda begin to give a statement. You glanced up for a moment to see the same sadness from earlier in the bathroom. It settled like an unwelcomed guest amongst her pleasing features. She would never get to experience what you would. It all seemed so unfair. Everyone deserved to know love.
Zelda made her way to both of you, turning towards Link. "I know what it is you think hero and I do not want your pity. For the love of my kingdom invigorates me. I will say this; I do hope in part the goddesses shall bless me with a marriage that has the tenderness and temerity you both displayed today. " Link simply nodded, bowing at Zelda. So, he had noticed the same despondent princess you had seen. You had never thought of it from Link's perspective. He fought to save Hyrule so we all may have peace and the quality of life we deserve. Yet Zelda can never possess what he fought hard to give everyone else. Link, at the very least, got to return to reap the fruits of his labor. Zelda will never reap those fruits, as her labor is never ending.
Then Zelda turned her attention towards you, giving you a gentle once over. Her eyes seemed to rest on the three spiritual stones that were pinned to your hair. "You would do the hero and Hyrule proud. You have my blessing. Let us hope that the goddesses never thrust upon him another cruel task. Such as the one he has just endured."
"Princess," you began but were met by Zelda's hard gaze. "I mean, Zelda. I understand that my love does not come without hardship. Whatever the goddesses have in store; I shall be there to fight alongside my husband." Link's grip on your hand tightened. Comforting caresses of circles were being thumbed on the back of your hand. He gave you a stern expression, "I will not allow you to fight alongside me. I will not allow you to be subjected to such danger."
"And you should be subjected to it alone? You seem to forget the whole kingdom was subjected to it. What difference does it make if I help you fight? You've seen I have been honing my skills." Defensiveness began to seep through your tone. "As long as I breathe you will never fight alone, Link."
Link continued to caress delicate circles on the back of your hand, in an attempt to calm you. "You have improved immensely. I am so proud of not only your skill, but the fact you took initiative. But just because you can wield fire doesn't mean you should have to walk amongst the flames."
Zelda chuckled, "It seems you two have a lot to discuss. I offer my congratulations. May destiny deliver happiness and longevity amongst the dearly betrothed. And of course..." a wry smile appeared on her face. "An heir. May the goddesses proclaim!" With a swift bow to us both, she sauntered away to begin making her rounds amongst the audience.
You turned to look at Link, his eyes already on you. "You sure you don't want to go chase Zelda? Malon? Aren't you already engaged to Princess Ruto? Now is your chance, hero."
Link erupted in laughter, pulling you back into his brawny body. The way you were meant to be. He held your face in between his hands, pressing his nose lovingly against yours.
"Please, don't call me hero. I'm just Link. Your Link. Now and forever. And if anyone is a hero, it would be you. Whether you realize it or not, you have saved me so many times. You are the reason I was able to save Hyrule. I couldn't have done it without you." He twirled his fingers in some of your loose tendrils of h/c hair. His mouth so close to yours, his breath tickled your lips.
"There is no one I want to chase, but you. My wife, "he made sure to emphasize wife. Hearing it sent a jolt through you.
"There isn't a woman in Hyrule or beyond that I could love the way I love you."

Ice Pond Thou Art, to Ice Pond Returneth: Let's Finish(?) Tears of the Kingdom
We're finishing the plot, anyway. All of the spoilers!
Sidequest clean-up time! I am getting up to such antics
Monster decorations: check
Tumblr media
Freezing my tits off in the desert while holding up a giant mirror: check
Tumblr media
House? check!
Tumblr media
I'm sorry but I am literally 12 years old right now:
Tumblr media
I wasn't going to chase after dragon!Zelda just yet but she appeared literally right in front of me so I figured I might as well hitch a ride on her and make Link sad.
Da-da-da-daaaa in a minor key:
Tumblr media
For some reason I'd been assuming I couldn't dye my sexy thunder shawl but nope! What lovely news for me and fashion aficionados everywhere!
Puzzling with the Boner Squad
Tumblr media
I'M STILL 12
Tumblr media
A lot of people just come out around me! It's a gift.
Tumblr media
Sure do!
Tumblr media
Truly, no one can resist my charms.
Tumblr media
Bitch I DELVED:
Tumblr media
I know I said collecting all the bubbul gems would be my Cruella de Vil origin story, so call me Emma Stone because I have lost my entire goddamn mind. Fewer than 20 remain and Koltin is no longer offering me hints for some reason? Whatever, I'm not doing it for him anymore. I'm doing it for ME.
I have looked up a map of caves and I WILL spelunk each one, mark my words
Oh right we got some caves in the GODDAMN SKY, WHERE CAVES DON'T BELONG
I'm fine I'm fine
One more and the eye strain ends. Squinting from the map on my laptop to the in-game map on my TV. Oho, Death Mountain, I see you now!
FUCKEN GOT EM
Tumblr media
Shine on, you crazy diamond bubbul gem. Maybe someday I'll smack you around for rupees. Until then, I will think of you and your completionist nightmare sidequest every time I glide through the air with my fancy new paraglider pattern.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay I can finish the plot now
I am doing this final stretch of mini-dungeon the way the goddess intended: by throwing down my traveler's medallion and popping back for more sundelion dishes before getting back to it.
At long last I have killed a lionel, and I started with a gloom lionel because why not. Bitch was in my way.
Me when the sun rises before 7:00am:
Tumblr media
Let's see how many Ganon phases we get! Dueling Ganon. Big Hair Boner Squad Ganon. Big Hair One-on-One Ganon. Ganon Become Dragon.
Why does everyone but Link get to scarf down a tasty magatama treat? UNFAIR
At least I look good thrashing around between Ganon's giant dragon teeth:
Tumblr media
Took me a second to realize what I was meant to be doing but this was a pleasantly cinematic fight phase with lots of catching little rides on Zelda's big fuzzy dragon head.
Game removed my good hat >:( but also removed my shirt :) so I feel like we're half on the same page.
Tumblr media
Guess we're not getting an ending where Link joins Zelda on an eternal draconic frolic, which on the one hand, yes, my girl deserves a happy ending, but on the other, "dragon" is a whole new gender spectrum Link should get to explore.
Game ALSO removed my cool arm. :< Now how am I gonna remodel my house?
Grabbing Zelda as she falls would be a lot easier with Ultrahand, just sayin
At this point, is Zelda, like Marvin from Hitchhiker's Guide, older than the universe itself? My girl's been through it
My robot girlfriend is moving on to robot girlfriend heaven. This too is yuri.
And I am moving on to fucking around endlessly, but first, there's only one way I can end this, right?
Back to the ice pond, baby. I made myself a little blue cultist outfit and everything:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's all, folks!

Note
Hey, I’m not sure how to explain this but getting straight to the point, I’m the person who runs the yandere-linked-universe blog and I’m pretty sure you’re pinkittwice.
So, I was just wondering what ideas you might have about the chain being yandere for one person. Like, what would the dynamic be and how they would behave as yanderes, you know that kind of stuff.
I hope it’s not too much to ask but I’m just curious to see what you might think of it since you’re pretty much the only person on the sight that I know of who also writes things involving lu and the reader. I’m not unhappy or dissatisfied in any way but it does get a little lonely being the only person who writes stuff like this. Sorry if this is too weird.
Masterlist
Yahaha~! You found me!
Everybody go check out their stuff @yandere-linked-universe
They do cool art sometimes and are even writing a whole fic which you can find right here.
It's really well written and I'm excited to see how the story progresses and where it goes- especially endgame.
And I'm assuming the ask means if they were yandere in the same circumstance than in the story.
That being said, I'm still going to apply the rules I have set for the Links. Like how Sky was never with his Zelda and similarly how Time and Malon never really happened. As for Wind, he will not be platonic unlike in the fic mentioned above- I will explain this in his section I promise.
Also, disclaimer, I'm not good at horror and I've never written for these types of characters before. But if you want headcanons then I'll provide the brainstorm that I've been cooking up of ever since I got this ask. (And it was a while ago I'm sorry for the wait.)
I'm also including some songs that I think best fit their rose tinted glasses ideal. Not necessarily yandere and can apply to Link being in love with you in general but it's as close as I'm going to get to making a playlist.
I might come back and change them to stalker songs and add these songs to a separate list entirely but maybe not...
Content under the cut!
It's long, brace yourself.
As a group, I think jealously would run high.
Everybody wants the attention of a single person and there's eight other people as competition.
If the group was tight knit as we like to portray them, it won't last long.
If dear reader was a little caring or naturally falls into a healer/medic position in the group, the group becomes more reckless, less caring about their personal safety- if only to get a momentary caress from the love of their life's fingers as their wounds are tended to.
There's less group unity and alliances between them form.
If the reader isn't a fighter well...
They would take turns guarding their prize and fight to be the one to do it.
Leaving you behind when they go to dungeons is a must.
They won't risk you getting a scratch on your person let alone putting you in a potentially dangerous situation.
They try to keep all their weapons away and out of reach. Less you get any ideas and try to fight with them or worse, get hurt playing with them.
Or try to fight against them. HAHAHAHA!! How crazy would that be?
Like you would stand a chance.
When you're simply traveling with the group, your designated spot is on top of Epona, hands down, no questions asked.
Not only would be easier to keep an eye on you, and make it harder to get away, but Twilight has personally asked Epona (through Wolfie) that if they were ever ambushed, she was to take off with you and get away from the fight no matter the cost. She'll always come back to him anyway- so if you're tied to connected to her than all the more reason for him to be the one to retrieve you when it's all over.
The others don't like how Twilight gets to be the one to greet you first. But Epona is on Twilight's side and everyone knows it.
So they wait their turn.
You're on top of Epona even if you're a fighter as well.
If you can prove your salt and fight with them, they actually don't try to keep you away as much as they can (because now it means that they can spend more time with you!)
It instead becomes a competition to be your partner. Among the younger ones anyway.
The older ones, are less concerned now by you fighting, and more by the younger ones who keep trying to be by your side (even if that's their spot) and try to keep them out of your way.
Every bump and cut you get is treated immediately by who ever reaches you first.
It's once again a race.
The group, as yandere's go, do not know how annoying they're being nor do they plan to stop.
If you told stories of your past conquests, it a mixed bag of awe, adoration and anger for you even being put there to begin with. These thoughts are not voiced however, and they instead stew and simmer and grow into their possessive tendencies.
Because they would protect you, honor you, worship you and you wouldn't have to worry about anything ever again. Not if you were with them, not if you stayed with them, not if you were in their Hyrule.
There's a slight knee jerk reaction when you bring out your items to take it away because it's dangerous. But not only would that piss you off, it would take away what little protection you have on your person and they don't want to take any risks when it comes to your safety.
I wouldn't share too much if I were you.
youtube
Now as Individuals they're all different, obviously.
Let's explore that.
Time
He's the most dangerous
I'm starting this off with that
I'm talking the most calculating, scheming and devious of the whole group
He know he's in charge and that the others will listen to him regardless if they actually agree with him or not
Because he's the leader
His grip on the group lessens as time goes by and their unity dissipates
But he's delusional and he doesn't realize it
However, because he's already in this position, he takes it upon himself to take care of you
And others let him
Less work for them to focus on when they can be by your side instead
You never have watch
You're always in the middle of the group
He'd gladly send the boys ahead of you into danger to make sure that they deal with it before you even get there.
The others let him with little thought because it's for you
So they go for it
Time however, is somehow, never the one to go ahead, instead waiting behind (with you) while they go ahead and deal with the issue
He gets away with this 8/10 times
Mostly because he rotates who's he's sacrificing
Dad! Time is not here- not anymore
But he lets them near you because he's only biding his time
You're meant to be
Soulmates, if you will
If a little time with you is all those boys need to stay in line and listen to him then he'll allow it
Because they're only boys
He's a man through and through
They have nothing on him
And you deserve more than a mere boy
He has some other concerns on his mind while the boys fight each other like street dogs
Time has to think about your future together so he daydreams the most out of the group.
He doesn't really have a home and a roof over his head for himself- let alone you and he knows he'd have to change that
He thinks about staying as a permanent employee at Lon Lon Ranch
He can save enough money
Buy a house
Maybe some land
And enough things for you and him to make a comfortable life without any worries
Maybe even start a family?
The dream is a reprieve form the headache that are other boys who won't leave you alone
Pray you don't end up in his Hyrule
EVER
This is just the gateway he'd be waiting for to keep you all to himself
Fighter or not it's dangerous to travel with them
You're in danger
And he won't stand for that.
He doesn't know how exactly he'd do it
But he plans to leave you at Lon Lon Ranch, waiting for him, for when he comes back after the mission
He'd have to find some kind of way to actually keep you there and find you when you inevitably try to leave the Ranch
But he's traveled all over his Hyrule
There's no place you could go that he doesn't know about
As the adult of the group, he'd step over all the others
He's not going to listen to them when they try to stop him
They don't know as much as he does
They haven't experienced as much as he has
He knows that this is the best and only option to ensure that you're safe and well taken care of
He'd doesn't mind leaving you as prisoner to the Gerudo instead either if the others start to really get pushy
It won't be comfortable and it won't be glamorous
But they'll definitely keep you in one place
And he can walk in whenever he wanted thanks to that note from the chief from a time long ago
Pick you up, take you away and you'll be his
He daydreams a lot
And he knows that you'll choose him
You have to
He's the best and only option
He's never felt happier thinking about you and the life you'll both have
He's struggled so much anyway
Maybe you were the blessing the goddesses owed him for all his work in his youth
And surely they aren't so cruel to give you to him and then take you away by some monster attack or some terrible unforeseen fate
He can't have that either
So he'll take the first and best out he's given
But while you're here with him...
He's looking at you like you're magic
youtube
Warrior
Warrior is the least dangerous
He knows the feel of being on the receiving side of someone's obsession
He was ignorant for a long time about it
But he wasn't sure how to feel comfortable in his own skin again when he found out about it
He can see how the others are starting to show similar obsessive tendencies and tries to mitigate what he can
He does a lot of damage control
It's what he's trying to do anyway- he's not very successful
Warrior is the one who's challenging their train of thought
Why do they think this is ok? Why don't they ask you for your opinion? Why do they not give some time alone to recharge? Why don't they lay off?
Because it's totally for your benefit- AND THEIRS
Because it's not ok
He doesn't see himself follow the exactly same train of thought
He doesn't see himself doing what they're doing
He's just annoyed that they're the ones doing it
Warrior becomes the very definition of hypocrite.
However- because he's the one acting as your advocate- the others don't consider him as much as a threat and therefore more inclined to listen to him at this point in time than Time himself
It also means that they don't fight him as much when he wants time with you. Mostly because in their eyes, he's not interested
They're wrong
At some point in Warrior's attempt to keep the group together and keep you from going crazy or hating all of them, he begins to gain ulterior motives in his mission
He begins to play the role in an attempt to win you over.
Because- see, he's not like them
He won't violate your space
Go through your stuff
Or keep you from doing what you love
He's the one to say you should join them in fights, that you should stay, that you can hold your own
Since he's the main strategist in the group, he takes into account your skills and always places you at a distance from the fight or from the most obsessive the group.
He knows that their one track mind could kill you or them and there's still the darkness to defeat.
They don't have the luxury to afford this kind of distractions
When the others aren't paying attention to him, he'd pepper you with compliments and flirty lines, playing up his charm and suave attitude
He becomes the perfect gentleman
You'd never know that he's crazy
Just join him and be with him- that's all he wants
He loves you so what more is there to offer you?
He's got the status, the looks and the means to take care of you so you wouldn't have to worry about anything else
He'd be the best husband that Hyrule has ever seen
He'd hate to have the group scare you off with how over the top they've all been.
He knows the group is being annoying with being by your side all the time and how they don't let you be and how there's always someone by your side even when you're at your final straw
Warrior is the one who takes over guarding you when you need to pee or bath and actively argues on your behalf to let you take care of your hygiene.
He's not always successful but it's the thought that counts right?
Hyrule agrees with him most of the time and since Hyrule seems to be the only one who still cares (somewhat) about the mission, they make an agreement
Warrior isn't at all concerned about the others and know that you'd come around to him eventually.
Since he's not like the others
You're his first thought in the morning, his last thought when he rests his head to sleep and there's nothing that he hasn't been doing that wasn't for you
youtube
Hyrule
Hyrule is the least possessive
Mostly because of his low confidence.
I've mentioned in a previous post that is unrelated to this, his love language is physical touch- so he's all over you
There always have to be some way that he's holding you- whether its a hand on your shoulder or the small of your back, maybe he's holding your hand or maybe he's just pinched the edge of your tunic
But he's careful to not go beyond what you're comfortable with
He doesn't want to you to pull away from him
Because the others will not hesitate to push and pull him away if you so much as hinted at not wanting him near you
So he plays it cool
Hyrule also gets concerned when there's too many injuries to go around and he needs to heal the group
Because if you hurt then he can't spare anything else to help you
It's one of the few things he thinks that he's useful for- so if he can't do this little thing for you then why does he bother?
There's so many other guys here that could easily sweep you off of your feet and have so much more to offer you
He doesn't have any land
He doesn't have a house
His Hyrule... isn't the most welcoming and he doesn't like the idea of bringing you from one dangerous situation to another
Especially since he's being hunted for sport back home
It doesn't stop him from trying to win your heart obviously and he tries to show you and win you over in whatever little ways he can.
He's the gentlest with you
Whatever hurting you, he'll heal
Whatever scaring you, he'll deal with
Whatever danger comes your way, he'll end it's miserable existence
He- like Time- daydreams a lot but he's trying to live for the moment
He's almost resigned in a way- that you won't pick him
He knows they're on borrowed time, he knows that something dangerous can take you away from them or that he could be the one to be taken away instead
So he's trying to make up for it in the time that you do have together and spend every second by your side that he can
Because the group gets a little more reckless in their attempts to impress you and be dealt with (whether you're healing them and tending to their wounds or just yelling at them)
He heals the group a lot little less
If they're going to be stupid and get hurt- then he's not going to waste his magic when they're only going to do the same thing the next day
Soon, with enough time and patience, Hyrule begins to hoard all the healing potions as well.
It's an attempt to keep them away from you so when they're hurt he can step in and just get them healed up in a minute
But it also works to keep the group from getting too reckless
It's not his intention but he takes it as it is
If they get hurt too much anyway then that just means less competition for him to deal with and a higher chance with you!
Because of his low confidence about you actually ending up with him, he becomes one of the more mission minded of the group, probably right after Warrior
Since they both have their sights on eradicating the darkness instead of focusing on their love lives (for different reasons) this is the first alliance to be formed
Hyrule wants you to be his but he's at a crossroad
He knows Warrior has a lot of charm to win you over and has the means to make sure you live a good life
He knows it's more than he can ever give you
But he's fairly certain he can take Warrior in a fight
One well timed Thunder Strike and Warrior wouldn't stand a chance
Not to mention that they've been fighting side by side now, so he knows what to look for to bring him down
He doesn't think it'll come to that though
Warrior doesn't seem that interested with you anyway so he doesn't worry about him
Which just leaves the problem of winning your heart
He wonders what life would be like he can love like you do
youtube
Twilight
Twilight is the most protective
It's his wolf instincts and his caretaker instincts combined.
He's used to being the one to look after everyone else
Being his village's primary babysitter and all
But wolves are family animals and they protect their mates
He's the one to fight to keep you away from the fights, whether you can handle yourself or not
He can Four agree with this and it's the second alliance that forms
You must be protected at all costs and there's many things around that can injure you, or worse
So they both try their hardest to keep you safe and secure
If bubble wrap existed in Hyrule you would have been wrapped in it and then wrapped again for good measure.
He's the first to run up to you and the first to drag over Hyrule or someone with a fairy or a potion to treat you
He's not afraid to start punching anything that dares to threaten you
Forget the sword
He'll just start swinging... or maybe just go full Woflie even if he's not in his form and go for the jugular
He lets you ride on Epona more often than not and refuses to let you work more than you should
He's quick to carry things for you
He tries to impress you by being a handy man and tries to fix whatever he can get his hands on for you
He's not good at it
But he tries
His love language is acts of service so he's trying
You don't really need his help though
But let him get it out
And tell him that he's doing a good job please, for your sake
He talks a lot about his home life with you and he ask a lot of questions about your own
He's comparing notes
Trying to see what way of life you'd be more comfortable with and how he can accommodate to it
He tries to win you over with the simple life and he paints pretty pictures of having a ranch and a farm and letting you have all and any animals you want
Wolfie make an appearance every other day instead of simply whenever it's convenient
If you're a dog lover then it's even better.
Twilight is not afraid of taking advantage of it to give you all the kisses and cuddles he can get away in his other form
The others would have to fight the each other just to get kisses from you but Wolfie gets special privilege's
He gets kisses no problem
He's not above using it to his advantage
Epona is always on Twilight side and while he's in wolf form, he tells her all about you and how much he loves you and all the ways he finds you amazing and spectacular
Because you're riding Epona more often than not, he tells her to watch after you and to keep your safe and to get to a safe area if they ever get ambushed
She doesn't know how human romance works, so she agrees.
Link is her master and her best friend, so she trusts him with her life and you're important to him, clearly, so you're important to her too
He's not going to lose you like he lost Midna
She left him behind with barely a glance behind
You won't leave him at all
He'll make sure of it
The others won't take you away from him either
Four seems to be the one who's most on his side right now and together they can lessen the competition
He'd hate to fight the guy and maybe they can come to an understanding but he knows he's got the brute strength that Four lacks not to mention Wolfie and Epona as well
So maybe he'll listen to reason
His world used to be so grey with no change in either direction
An eternal twilight
You became his light in the gloom
youtube
Sky
Sky is the least violent
He actually falls in the middle of both protectiveness and jealousy.
But he's more set on letting each of the boy pick each other off (not unlike Time) and then he'll figure out who's left over to deal with them then.
Sky also isn't one to fight off the other people who you interact with
He's not going to go confront the person or drag you away and definitely not going to start swinging
He still feels uncomfortable if you aren't by his side but he'll make up for it when you're done by sticking to your hip
Sky doesn't want you to feel cramped by only talking to the group
But he does get a little jumpy when you're beyond his line of sight.
That being said- he will let you out of his sight
Not for long periods of time, mind you, but he's not going to be in your shadow the entire time or demand to be glued to your hip
He's arguably the most normal out of the group- the least yandere if you will
Still crazy though
Sky is also one to agree with Warrior and Twilight.
He's not a part of any alliance but between wanting you to be safe and still wanting you to be healthy and clean (he knows how being clean helps out ones moral and he doesn't want you to be depressed when you're with them) he'd let them do the fighting and arguing for him and when they lose a bit, he'll say something and add to their cause
He's trying to be chill and he plays on his harp when you're nearby.
If you come sit next him to listen and chill- he will absolutely be over the moon
He will go through some of your things to make sure you have anything and everything you'd need for their adventure
But he won't take away your weapons or go through your diary (he wouldn't be able to read it anyway)
He does try to ask you in some roundabout way if he has permission to do that.
It'll be long winded and vague and a total play on words, so be careful to what you agree with when he asks something of you
Sky although is the least violent, that's in regards to other humans
Monsters have learned to keep away from him when he's on the battle field and if they haven't learned that...
They will
He's the one that tries to have your relationship mature and grow naturally.
Sky is going to simply be your friend first and show you that he has your best interest at heart
So when you talk to him about your problems and how the others are driving you crazy, he'll give you advice, tell you he's on your side and openly give you outs to avoid the others.
If you want time alone and the others begin looking for you, he'll tell them you went in the other direction and he'll send them on a wild goose chase.
Since he's on your side, he tells you to at least let him know where you're going and for how long so he can distract the others.
He's not concerned about you running away, since the others are going to do the work for him
Four and Twilight and Wolfie can find and hunt you down in a heart beat and you'll be together again
He won't blame you for running away, there's a lot of people who won't leave you alone in the group and it annoys him too
And Hyrule, Wind and Time keep you within the group and close by so he never has to worry about not knowing where you are at all times
Warrior and Wild keep you well fed and well taken care of
And Legend makes sure that you always have a potion on you and has even given some power rings to ensure your safety
So all he has to do is butter you up by being the least persistent of them all and you'll fall for him and you can be together forever and ever and even be the start of Hyrule as everyone knows it
Wouldn't that be nice?
While he may not be the most musically inclined of the group, he's the one to serenade you when he gets the chance
He plays his harp more often than not, trying to get the notes out that he hears in his head when he looks at you
His life was such a simple song before you came along but now... It's a symphony, he wants you to know this
youtube
Four
Four is the most controlling
He's the one putting restrictions on you left and right and is the one to never want you to leave his side- let alone his line of sight.
You see, he's got these voices in his head that bounce ideas off of each other.
When one might be, hey that guy is talking to you
The other responds with, he's close to you too
One might say, you're smiling and it's beautiful
Another says, why is it directed at that guy?
Which snowballs to, you're a little too close, a little too nice, is he flirting? Has he touched you? Is he trying to make a move?
And then he's even more possessive and it grows and spirals and next thing he knows, he's next to you again and chewing the poor guy out for no reason when it was a simple conversation about the weather and directions.
And that's in public
Now add in the threat of monsters and traps and many other dangerous that surround the group as a whole
He's paranoids in the extreme
So when Twilight suggests that they tie you to Epona and keep you where he they can always see you, he's the first to agree
In fact he feels as if Twilight is the only one who's actually looking out for your well being
Wind tries to throw fits and get the two of them to back off but he's just a kid, what does he know? He should know better anyway, he knows how dangerous this journey is going to get, so why is Wind trying to actively put you in harms way?
Twilight a least can get Wind to listen to reason and Twilight's better at explaining it than he is so while Four'll yell, Wind is really Twilight's problem.
He doesn't like the idea of fighting is friends but he can see that well... He's the only to notice that they're not as close as they used to be when you first joined.
He thinks that Warrior can feel it but Four is the one who'll say it out loud.
Four is actually the most trigger happy out of all them, he's not afraid to break character and yell at some poor passerby who's too foolish enough to even look in your direction
He's the angry guard dog in public and it's a little hard to reign him most of the time
Twilight agree with him in this but he's also the one to hold him back
The last thing they need is to be kicked out of town
But if while you're there maybe he can get something for you?
He's the kind of person to make something for their beloved but he only knows how to make weapons and tools
Things that he's never going to give to you and actively tries to keep them away from at all costs
Yes, if you have your own weapons he'll also try to take them away
He'd rather see you angry than injured
No, he does not see how being weaponless in a fight will lead to more injuries and no, he not going to listen to those who try to tell him that.
Maybe he can learn how to make jewelry and gift that instead?
A pretty thing like yourself should be adorned in more beauty.
And he can save enough to make it with rubies and diamonds and any gold that he can salvage in Hyrule
He'd give you and make you anything you want
You'd be dripping in jewels if he had it his way
He also knows that the voices try to point out his flaws and all the ways that he's really not that appealing to any potential partners
It doesn't matter that he's merged and they all have the same flaws
But whenever he's next to you and things are calm, the voices are quiet and he feels like him
youtube
Wild
Wild is the Most violent
Like Four, he does not care if it's a simple conversation, if someone else is taking up your time and attention then he will want to start swinging.
He's usually held back by Warrior and Time since Twilight typically has to restrain Four
But if you're in danger? Real danger?
He becomes the equivalent of the Fierce Deity, no mask required
The battle field becomes a blood bath by his hand alone
Sure the others will want to to cause some destruction as well and destroy any and all threats to you, but Wild goes the extra mile
Forget Twilight going feral, he has an excuse- but Wild?
He'll go ballistically feral, even going as far to drop his weapons to rip into the threats with his hands and teeth
He has to make sure there's absolutely nothing in between you and him
He's not afraid to throw away his whole good guy reputation and even the reputation of the hero in order make sure he's the last man standing
Wild is now taking notes on how the the group fights and how they defend themselves, defend you and try to figure out the best ways to take them down
If there was ever to be a physical fight within the group, he'll not only be a part of it but most likely also the instigator
Wild has already lost all his friends and family before, he can't afford to lose anyone else
Besides his Hyrule has so much more to offer you than some of the others
Not to mention he has his own house- in a safe village- with low monsters around it- and barely any reason to think that he wouldn't be able to provide for you
He's got the rupees he needs from his monster farming and everything's nearby. Whatever he can't get, he can teleport to and he wouldn't have to leave you alone for long periods of time.
Wild goes out of his way to buy you clothes since the others have taken care of your other needs (much to his chagrin)
But he also makes sure you have the best portions of the meals he makes
He keep tracks how much you ate and when
He always there to give you a snack if you even mention of being peckish
He knows the others won't mind if he dotes in this manner
Not only because it's for you...
He has all the food anyway.
When he sees that you're wearing Legend's old tunic, he instantly hates it
He and Legend are less of an alliance and merely on tolerable terms- not that Legend notices or cares- because of this and Wild knows that your clothes have taken a lot battery
He wants to you be warm and protected
But he also has a lot of extra outfits
So he takes a page out of Legend's book and gives you some as well
He's a little disappointed you don't wear them as often but he knows that most of them are specialized for certain terrain- Legend's is more of a catch all kind of deal so he can understand the need for general uses
He's not happy about it
But he understands
The crazy thing is, you wouldn't want to end up in his Hyrule either
Pray you never do
Like Time, Wild has been all over his Hyrule and has traveled to all the nooks and crannies
He knows that he can hide you away without the others ever knowing what happened to you
Not even Wolfie would be able to track you
Why?
Because (and this is from AoC) he can teleport more than one person at a time, so he can just take you far away and somewhere secluded, somewhere where you wouldn't be able to leave
Hebra region? In the cabin where he learned how to shield surf? Or play the snow bowl game?
Gerudo Wasteland?
Akkala Region? With Robbie? It's hard to get past the guardians and the high level monsters...
Or maybe ditch you in the mountains with Paya in Kakariko Village?
Or maybe leave you on the Great Plateau? You can't get down without a paraglider...
Life with you is the only reason he's still on this journey instead of just taking you and leaving
The darkness is still around and it threatens his future with you
But it looks bright in his head when all is over and he's so happy that he met you
Life is now pink! And he won't take off his rose tinted glasses any time soon!
youtube
Legend
Legend is the most possessive
As some people have headcanoned in the past, he has a problem letting things go
He's lost so many people he cares about- he knows that items are a little harder to lose
He's the Collector- the Hoarder
Naturally when he sees something that he wants, he'll stop at nothing to make it his.
However, since he has a problem coming into direct contact with his own feelings, he's projecting
Legend instead tries to keep you at arms length and fails miserably
He doesn't want to fall for someone only to have them be ripped form him again, and again and again,
He cares for the group still even after their disagreements and eventually mistrust
He doesn't want to leave this little family they've made for themselves and has disillusioned himself into thinking that he can save it before it's too late
But in his fairytale ending, you're with him
Legend, though, still knows that their time will end and everyone will eventually go home so by the time everyone begins fighting and jealousy runs amuck, he's trying to hold everyone at arms length
When you don't give him attention, he's prone to get angry and may very well at times act like he hates you
He doesn't like it when you so much as breath in someone else's direction
You're his and his alone, why is anyone else even worth your time and energy?
But he's not going to say this out loud
So he's frustrated with himself and pouts often
So he's stuck in a cycle of self hatred and jealousy and not willing to do something to change it
But when you do give him attention, he's melts into a puddle
He's at your beck and call if so much as say his name
There's very little that he isn't willing to do for you or get for you, anything to make you happy
He's also quick to give you power rings to protect you even if he's against you fighting
Legend is also going to give you an extra tunic if (/when) your clothes take too much damage and they're too far gone for him to fix
It's a power move on his part
Not only does he feel giddy with boyish excitement when he sees you in his old tunic (that definitely has some kind of magical properties to ensure your safety), it's also him marking you as his property
And the others know it
Wild does a similar thing so you can at least have a change of clothes but Legend is quick to tailor them when you're not looking to not fit you and be uncomfortable
He's the one going through your things for sure
He need to know that he's the one who's taking care of you
He needs to know you have everything you need
He needs to know if there's anything that you're lacking so that he can sweep in and provide it for you
He's not really planning on taking out the competition or is planning beyond keeping you by his side for the day
He (like Hyrule) is living for the moment, because he's afraid he's going to blink and you'd be gone and there would be nothing else left for him
But you won't be gone
He's going to make sure of that
He's got tunnel vision for sure
But since he's also trying to not fall for you and get his heart broken, it becomes a game of hot and cold with a whole lot of minefields in between that could set him off for (what looks like) no reason
He hates you- no he doesn't- he wants nothing to do with you- he wants to be your everything- he's not going to write you poetry or braid your hair or fall asleep listening to your heart beat- he would kill for that to be his reality- he hates that you're all he's able to think about now- don't leave him please
He's not crushing
He's not
He is
youtube
Wind
Wind is the least protective- Still protective but arguably not to the degree of the others
You see, he knows that the others protect him because he's the youngest
And he's not blind
He can see that they're just as, if not more, protective over you
He can see how you hate it and how much it annoys you
He's not going to make that same move
And as a bonus, since the others are protecting you anyway, why should he put in the work and protect you as well?
There's enough people watching you all the time
With the others taking care of it, he can plan on winning you over
He's going to give you as much freedom as he's able to get away with
It'll put him as your favorite
This immediately puts him at a crossroads with Four who's somehow a hair's breadth away from tying you up and chaining you together by the wrists
They fight against each other the most
He plans on marrying you
It's honestly in the same degree of young children that say they're growing to grow up and marry their dad or their mom
Because obviously you marry the person you love and you stay with them for the rest of your life
And he loves you.
So that's what he plans to do
Win you over is step one
Then he (and you) just need to wait a few years for him to get older
And then he'll marry you
He does not see a problem with this plan
Typically I make the reader the same age as him to avoid the worst of it but in this case, this does not matter
I'd say that if you're older, he'd get more easily attached to giving you the freedom you've been missing
With him by your side obviously
Because you're older- you're an 'adult'- you can take care of yourself
You're so cool in his eyes
The others, naturally, see a problem with this
Not only out of jealously at the very thought of it not being them to marry you but because they know he's young and if you're older, (say closer to Twilight and Warrior's age) then they can see the problem it'll prove to be for you from a moral stand point
The others (mainly Legend and Four) bully tease him when you're not around about how selfish he is to even think about making you wait, when you could easily marry one of them instead, so why would you ever choose him?
He tries not to let it get to him because he does hang out with you more than they get to- so maybe they're really just jealous that his plan is working
Wind has the more innocent approach to this whole ordeal out of the whole group
His obsession isn't healthy, obviously, but he at least the excuse of being young and not knowing how to deal with crushes
Because he's awkward with it, (and he knows it) he's actually pretty quick to shut away the worst of it when he's spending time with you, less you think he's weird and push him away
Not only does he not want that to happen, but he's heard the others come up to you countless times regarding him and his behavior and if you'd like him to leave you alone
Because they will deal with him if you so much as say one word of annoyance
The choice is yours
If you indulge him when he wants your attention then he's more like himself and becomes the most normal out of the whole group
He becomes the him when you first joined
Before the obsession
Wind becomes your safest bet in terms of keeping your sanity intact and it's the groups saving grace to keep up any illusion that they're still normal
Wind is dealing with a highly flammable vial of puppy love concentrate
All in the form of budding teenage yandere hormones
If you had met him any later in his life, the cocktail would have no doubt exploded into the form of the other's behavior and he'd seem like a completely different person instead
He's almost like a lost puppy, always following you around and being in your shadow
It would be cute if he wasn't crazy
Wind adores you though and he wants you to know that

requests are still open so feel free to send me a little prompt!
----------
A handful of months after the end of the Calamity and Link was already smitten for this princess he hardly knew. How badly he wanted to remember all of her, everything they’d done together, all the words they’d shared in those sweet moments of privacy–but they were locked away, frozen in a time he no longer belonged to. And it was weird; it was an odd sort of feeling to know he was an entirely different person once upon a time, that there were parts of him he could not reach and would never be able to pull back to the surface. But with her around, with Zelda to warm even the deepest, coldest parts of him, he found it wasn’t so scary. It wasn’t so awful anymore, and she didn’t seem to mind at all that his state of mind was not what it used to be. He knew better. He knew she did mind, that sometimes she grieved for him, but then she would dry her eyes and smile at him and it wouldn’t hurt anymore. She would smile at him, and he would walk to the ends of Hyrule for her over and over again.
Unfortunately, walking anywhere was quite difficult at the moment. They were just outside of his little house in Hateno and he’d had every intention of feeding the horses and tending to the yard, but Zelda was mere feet away, sitting on her knees while she told stories to the village children gathered around her. She was animated and bright. Each move of her hands kept the attention of the little ones, drawing them in so her narration could do the rest. He couldn’t hear what story she was telling from here. Maybe it was one from a century ago, or maybe it was one of those old fairy tales everyone but him seemed to know. Whatever it was, they were all enjoying it. He thought about joining them–about finding his place next to the princess so he could watch her with the same wonder the eyes of the children held.
What was the harm? He’d spent a hundred years without her, and those days he couldn’t recall her face or her voice or her warmth felt far longer than that. Surely he could spare a few minutes to sit and relish in the freedom they’d found together.
Link dropped the hay a little haphazardly, and he was sure Storm was going to have a fit over Epona getting more than him, but he couldn’t worry much about it right now. He walked in the direction of the little group sitting by the cooking pot under the tree, a soft smile tugging at his lips.
“...and then, the princess called on the other Six Sages to help her seal the beast away once and for all!”
He’d heard that one before. She must’ve been recalling the Hero of Time. For such a tragic ending, she had a way of telling it that made him wonder if this time, the outcome would be different. Maybe she felt her eyes on him, because Zelda looked up and smiled. A smile like the sun, something that’d started to come much easier now, and he would never be able to express how happy he was to see it again. He was happy to have her again.
And then, because the Goddesses had a funny way of treating him, Link’s foot caught on the rock that Zelda had insisted they keep in the yard (“it adds texture!” which sounded ridiculous to him), and he couldn’t catch himself before he was face down in the grass. He might as well have been eating the little blades that tickled his mouth. The chorus of laughing children drowned out anything else and made him feel far more embarrassed than it should’ve. Maybe he should stay just like that for the rest of time.
“Are you alright?” Zelda asked, sounding far closer than before–and quite amused. Link lifted his head to look at her, and his smile came naturally.
“Just...laying around,” he replied with a small shrug.
“Sounds rocky,” she said, and because his sense of humor was that stupid, he couldn’t stop himself from laughing.
“I wanted to hear the story,” he spoke, taking the hand she’d held out for him and pulling himself up.
“You’ve already heard this one,” she pointed out in return, giving his hand a squeeze. It sent his heart racing a mile a minute.
“I could listen to you talk all day.”
“You have. It was quite literally your job at one point. I’m sorry I’ve no rupees to offer you.”
“Seeing you smile is payment enough.”
Zelda rolled her eyes, but the smile on her lips was wide and beautiful and his was ridiculous, so he hid it by leaning down to kiss her.
Too many of the children screamed that it was gross.

To her, it was another day.
At current moment, she was overseeing some construction projects. Looking over blueprints, and designs. She was no architect, but she could understand what went where, and you didn't have to be a professional to know whether or not something was aesthetically pleasing. The people of Hyrule deserved only the best, and at all times, she would give her all for them. Even if that meant all the tedious work that came with being a princess.
In fact, many people didn't realize the sheer amount of paperwork there was when you ran a country all by yourself.
It was common assumption, that she lived a life of total luxury. Everything done for her, riches abound, no worries. Such was not the case. Maybe it was because of those seven years of darkness, but she preferred to cook for herself. She was well versed in the art of cleaning, and sewing. Even jewelry making, but that was more of a hobby than an outright skill.
Her most important job of all was the protection of Hyrule. As leader of the Sages, another responsibility was to keep the sacred temples free of darkness. It required, not only the Sage related to the temple, but herself, as well. It was a heavy burden to bear, but she held it with grace.
Even if she longed for adventure.
Setting aside a sheet, Zelda had decided it was time for a short reprieve. So she seated herself on the throne, as was considered tradition. The same tradition that required her to wear the same design of dress for everything, and to wear all that jewelry. Maybe someday she'd get to wear her favorite color. Blue. Someday...
The princess watches the nearby window, clouds rolling across the sky, when she hears the announcement.
Sora? That was a name she hadn't heard in quite some time. With all the people she met on a regular basis, one would think she'd forget them all easily, but not Zelda. She remembered every face she came across, as to treat them with as much kindness as possible, given that they didn't do anything to harm other people.
...Servant? Japan had a prince? Sora had never mentioned any of these things.
"I grant him presence."
It was the proper response, as there were very few who were allowed to see her without her explicit permission.
Standing up from where she'd been sitting, Zelda was wise enough to know there must have been some misunderstanding. If he be a servant, Sora would have mentioned it when they met, and spoke previously.
As the woman walks towards him, she holds the grace of the Goddess herself. Grace came naturally to Zelda. Was it because she was a royal? Or was it something she'd have retained, even if born into a common household? Regardless, she did recognize him.
"Your presence is no longer required." She spoke to the guard. "I would like to be alone with my guest."
As per order, the servant leaves, closing the door behind him.
Tumblr media
"Good afternoon, Sora. It has been far too long."
Zelda's smile reflected her peaceful nature.
"I am afraid I am unfamiliar with your country's prince, however, I must confess. I am happier to see you than I am to see another man hoping for my hand in marriage, simply because of my appearance." A pause. "What is in the basket? It must be very special, for you to have come all this way."
@atimelesslullaby
It had been almost two months since the princess had come out of the castle. And it had stretched on an embarrassingly long time for Sora.
The more he heard about her, the more fascinated he was with her. Not only was she kind and beautiful, she was apparently powerful and smart as well. (He still didn't understand what it meant for her to have "the power of the Goddess" at her disposal, but Sora assumed she was like a holy priestess or something.)
In his hand he had a basket- one he had bought himself- and in it a stock of lavender. He figured the ones she had picked before were long withered by now, and he thought having some fresh ones would make her happy.
Tumblr media
'Jeez, Sora, what the heck are you doing?! Why do you care whether or not she's happy?'
He knew he wouldn't actually get to see her- after all he was a commoner and there was no way they just casually let people into the palace- but he at least wanted her to have a little spritz of the outside in the castle walls.
Actually, he just wanted her to think of him.
He approached the guard at the gate, holding up the basket in front of him.
"I have a gift for the princess."
What he expected was some servant to come to the gates and take the basket from him to give to the princess. So imagine his surprise when the guard merely glanced at the flowers, then opened the gate and ushered him inside.
Oh. Huh. Maybe it was easier for the servants to take things at the entrance.
He followed the dirt path, feeling very self conscious and slightly out of place as he approached the towering western-style palace. It looked brand new, practically shining in the sunlight despite the gray stone color. He couldn't help murmur in awe under his breath as he got closer to the structure.
"Whoa...."
He made it to the entrance of the inner gate, where a small bridge over the water way led to the large doors of the castle.
"I-I have a gift for the princess," he stammered again, forcing himself to focus on one of the two guards by the entrance.
The guard pointed to the entrance. "Go right from the entryway, down the hall to your left, past the third doors and go left. The throne room will be the large rounded doors and the head butler will announce you."
Sora blinked in shock up at him. "O-oh, um, ok.... th-thank you." In his confusion, he bowed automatically, old Japanese habits cropping up as he felt smaller in this whole situation.
Were they really just letting anyone in? Sora looked around slowly, reaching back in his memory for the guard's directions as he tried to make sense of the building. This couldn't possibly be safe, right? Why wasn't security doing anything?
Of course, what Sora didn't know was that for the last year or so the princess had had many suitors. Many, many, many suitors. So many messengers and servants had been pouring in from neighboring countries that the castle staff just didn't care anymore. Some of them just wanted her to pick one so the onslaught would cease.
So when Sora said "gift for the princess". they didn't realize he meant a personal gift, they thought he meant a courtship gift.
They weren't even judging the flowers- they knew their princess and knew she would love them. They just figured the mysterious prince had done his homework.
But as Sora took a look at the regality, and fine things and elegant craftsmanship of everything within the palace walls, his gift felt more and more pathetic. It felt dirty and poor, and paled so much in comparison with his memory of Zelda. He should have saved up and bought her a pretty necklace or something, anything that actually suited a princess.
But just as he was considering turning back and forgetting his ever happened, he spotted a tall, portly man in a uniform, and now he felt like it was too late to turn back now.
"I... I have a gift for the princess," he mumbled, feeling shame.
"Name?"
"S-Sora Arias," he answered bashfully.
"Country?"
Sora, not understanding what he was asking, tilted his head as he blinked up at him. "...Hyrule?"
The man raised a brow. "The country you're representing."
"Oh, Japan."
And then Sora wanted to kick himself. Shoot, Japan didn't exist in this world! He hadn't meant to say it by name!
But the servant just did not care at this point and simply continued on. "And your prince?"
Sora blinked again, not entirely sure what that had to do with anything. "Prince Naruhito."
The servant promptly opened the right side of the double doors. He stood to the side, holding it with his weight.
"Presenting Sora Arias, servant of Prince Naruhito of Japan." He cried in a loud voice.
For a moment, Sora just stood there, blinking at the throne room as it was revealed to him, and coming to terms with what the man had just said. Then it came crashing around him and he gaped in shock.
'Wait, they thought I was a servant?!'
Ho boy, was this gonna be awkward to explain.
"W-wait, I'm not a servant!" He protested to the announcer under his breath. "I-I just wanted to bring her a gift!"
"Servant, messenger, same thing." The man argued with a sigh. "Just hurry and present it to her."
He flinched back, the whole situation and the hierarchy here making him compliant as he shuffled in, both hands on the handle of the basket. At least Zelda would know who he was, but he was still confused as to how he had come to assume that.

BOTW/ Linked Universe Fic WIP’s
THIS POST IS OUT OF DATE AND INACCURATE, THE CURRENT ONE IS PINNED ON MY BLOG
Of Dubious Sophistication: 2/? posted chapters, Wild meets the chain on a day where he has to act like a person and decides to fuck with their misconceptions of him.
The Silence of the Knight: BOTW pre-calamity fic that’s mostly an introspective fic about why Link went silent and how everyone around him reacts to his lack of outward emotions. I just saw the concept of people seeing him as not quite human because of his refusal to show any emotions and wanting to catch a glimpse of how/ if he reacts when tragedy strikes, just to see if he has the ability to feel anything at all.
Unpublished fics under the cut, please let me know if any of them interest you so I can prioritize what I should focus on writing!
Free to Hide: Zelda and Link attend a festival in disguises unbeknownst to each other and they end up spending the whole time together without knowing that there are eyes in the darkness watching them. Spy thriller/ romcom vibes. Also there’s gender stuff because Link wears a dress and Zelda is almost exclusively referred to with neutral pronouns.
The Last Champion: Wild gets all the champions abilities after their spirits move on, but in a more similar way to how they used them, mostly just Hyrule and him becoming magic buddies and Wild learns how to use his new magic abilities.
Between the Doors of Death: A mix of both LU and BOTW as it takes place while Wild is dead and he hangs out with his ghostly incarnations and dead family members. Lot’s of family headcanons and an appearance from the 10k hero.
No Goodbye is Forever: How the last day with the chain happens and everything after. Meeting up in the afterlife and a little bit of keeping Wild company during BOTW2.
Another Second Chance: classic Wild gets pulled into the AOC timeline and is tasked to help prevent the calamity. But he looks different enough from his counterpart that he doesn’t reveal his true identity. He accidentally parallels Astor in the whole mysterious sorcerer/ seer vibes as he both knows the future and popped out of nowhere in a dramatic cape and ancient technology. Lots of interaction between Wild and the champions and there is both angst and hijinks. There’s also stuff about the new champions as most of it follows the plot of AOC. Also Wolfie is there because I thought it would be funny for him to bop around the baby egg guardian.
Tainted Blood: Time, Twilight, and Wild are related. How they find out and how the magic that they used affects the bloodline. Malon as Malanya because I love the idea that she just turns into an eccentric horse god and was waiting for a child she had already met.
Son of the Storm: BOTW fic centered around Urbosa and Link because I love her and her mom energy is perfect. Definitely some gender stuff and found family vibes. Link deserves a mom and Urbosa saw this short blond child and didn’t even ask if anyone else was going to adopt him she just did it.
The Cruelty of Destiny: BOTW Fem!Link fic focused on how being the first female incarnation of the Heroes Spirit would be treated with a little bit of Zelink as forbidden fantasy lesbians. Link is angry and all of her past lives are just as pissed as she is. She’s seen as a harbinger of the calamity rather than the hero sent to stop it. And she’s seen as a mistake of the goddess and proof that the 10,000 years of peace was now at an end. General woman problems you know?
Hylia’s Chosen Children: BOTW Link and Zelda catch up on being shitty kids after the Calamity and preparing for it stole their childhoods from them. Pure fluff, let them be kids please. Lots of pranks and sleepovers with Riju and stuff like that. They’re both trying to learn how to be regular people without absolutely massive responsibilities.
The Bloodline of the Wolf: Similar to the one before as it’s focused on Time, Twilight, and Wild and how they’re biologically related but this one is more about their canon relationships and answering questions that the comic gave me. Like why only Twilight and Time know about Wild’s memories despite how we are to assume that the entire chain kind of came together at once, why them and all that.
When You Can’t Die: Wild and his strange relationship with death, as someone who has been resurrected countless times and literally cannot die. He still has the champions abilities and kind of forgets that it is very much not normal to die as much as he does.
What was Killed for Good: Wild and his struggle to be human, the shrine took more from him than his memories and replaced them with something else. He’s just very odd and the people around him notice more than he does. He doesn’t know what’s normal and he feels alienated because of how people react to him. He just wants to vibe in the woods and ride bears.
Breaking, Broken: You know how all the weapons in BOTW break and it’s super annoying? What if that was a curse and also applied to people? Anyway, Wild is touch starved and desperate not to accidentally hurt his friends. Fortunately, magic has loopholes.
A Strange Kind of Self Reflection: Wild has identity issues and gets stuck in beast form after catching Twilight’s Shadow crystal. I have the perfect idea for what animal he would be and you guys are not ready.
The Heroes Before: Pre-Calamity Link learns about his predecessors through artifacts and very old records in his attempt to prepare for Ganon’s return.
Damaged: Literally every Link is a little fucked up and this fic is an exploration about how it manifests.
Some Kind of Sauce: Wild Genderfluid fic featuring Lullaby/Sheik and sexism.
Age of Heroes: AOC but with the entire chain, idk, I don’t have much for this one other than wanting to have my own take on the trope.
Untitled fics ideas:
Modern with magic AU
Pride fic
Gerudo Town fic
Masquerade Ball fic
Soulmate/ Soulmark fic
Cursed Animal fic
Superhero AU
Once Upon a Time AU (mostly in the way that it’s a mixture of a modern au and a fantasy world kind of thing)
Indiana Jones/ the Mummy AU: Zelink but Zelda is an archeologist and Link is an Adventurer/ Explorer type and they need each other but go from reluctant allies to lovers due to plot
BOTW roleswap AU: Prince Link and Champion Zelda, maybe I’ll add some trans vibes but who knows, not me

Oh I don't think it's unfair to hold ALttP against OoT at all -- I didn't read OoT that way pre-SkSw, but it's always been a coherent reading of the game. My gripe with Skyward Sword boils down to that, prior to the game's additions to canon, readings less bound up in the divine right of kings and chosen people were viable and after SkSw they were not.
Which again isn't to say OoT critiqued either the monarchy or ALttP. It absolutely chickened out of any of that, but I do think OoT read by itself at least whistled past some graveyards and de-emphasized the importance of bloodlines compared to what came before and what came after, which left an opening to treat ALttP's chosen people ubi sunt bullshit as the sort of self-flattering nostalgia that lots of people have historically believed but not as something that was factually true of Hyrule. This might also be the product of playing OoT first and then coming to ALttP later -- which maybe made it easier to take OoT's vision of the past, of which Hylians were one part but not even close to all of it, as authoritative and read ALttP as never-truly-accurate mythologizing, and maybe if I had played ALttP then OoT would look more like confirmation of a glorious Hylian past instead?
I also agree earlier installments of the series than Skyward Sword are equally deserving of critique. I've said OoT chickened out of distancing itself from ALttP above, but I do think that for a while -- even if they weren't engaing with the problems in prior installments, or explicitly disclaiming them -- the games were inching toward a mythology less enmeshed in the supremacy of Hylians and the divine right of kings. Not apologizing or openly examining what prior canon had been, but drifting away from it and not paying it attention. It's extremely reasonable to ask for more from the OoT to TP games given how bad some of the prior mythos was,* but even that neglect left room for re-interpretation of old canon and engagement with the series in ways that minimized its worse elements of lore.
But that's all moot, because whatever ambiguity there was before, Skyward Sword went and removed it. Like you say, the parallels between Ameterasu and the Imperial family of Japan on the one hand and Hylia and the Hylian Royal family on the other are striking. To the extent there is a difference between the two, Skyward Sword takes an even more pro-monarchist line. Zelda isn't just the descendant of a goddess as the Imperial family are, she's the goddess' reincarnation and is one herself. All of the worst tendencies in ALttP are confirmed again, and substantially more Divine Right is piled on top of it. I agree with you Skyward Sword is not where those problems start, but I do think it represents a massive regression after twenty-ish years of improvement.
*And again TP's inclusion here is...shaky. We see the re-emergence of themes of Hyrule as a chosen land (though, notably, not a chosen people) And we do see direct magical evidence that the goddesses pick sides on questions of who should rule (Midna, not Zant) but a strongly emphasized theme of Midna's character arc is coming to understand royal obligations extend past seeking the good of just her people to all of the world. It's a weird hodge-podge.
The thing about Skyward Sword's story is that I basically agree with a lot of the criticisms levelled against it, but simultaneously feel that people are wildly overestimating its impact on the series.
My biggest issue with Skyward Sword's story is that it's an incredibly boring, safe take on a Legend of Zelda prequel game (which Skyward Sword actively tries to position itself as). Skyward Sword follows the typical Zelda formula beat-for-beat, with little reflection or deconstruction of it. As a result, Skyward Sword does very little to reframe the rest of the series. Which is why, in a way, it's kind of baffling to me to see how many people got mad at it for 'ruining the Zelda lore'. Frankly, Skyward Sword isn't interesting enough for that. You can't ruin anything if you refuse to innovate.
Skyward Sword added exactly three things to the overarchiving Zelda lore that affect previous entries: Hylia, Demise, and Fi. Of the three, Fi is in my opinion by far the most interesting, and also the one that was handled the worst. I consider the writing for Fi's character to be one of my personal biggest issues with the game, and I genuinely struggle to find a single good narrative decision they made for her. Fi's existence ultimately has little impact on the series for me because her character had little impact on me. Your mileage may vary.
Fi's not really the addition people take issue with though: that would be Hylia and Demise. And I get where people are coming from. Largely I don't even disagree. I also think that having a flat good/evil dichotomy represented by gods is boring as hell. I just think it's weird when people get mad at Skyward Sword for introducing this to the series, because. Like. All Skyward Sword did was add gods to the flat good/evil dichotomy already present in the series.
Establishing that Zelda, and therefore the Hyrulean royal family, is descended from a literal god absolutely has a ton of unfortunate implications. Like, y'know, in general you should probably think twice about canonizing the literal divine right of kings. But here's the thing: the series was already operating under the divine right of kings. That doesn't mean the choice to make it an explicit in-universe correct belief is now exempt from criticism, but, well. What does it actually change?
LOZ never meaningfully critiques the Hyrulean royal family; even when it acknowledges them as having done bad things (rare in its own right), the narrative will still ultimately position them as the good guys against the evil Ganon/Ganondorf/[insert villain here]. In at least the seven games I've played to completion, their right to rule is never questioned, and neither is Hyrule's dominance over other peoples, for that matter. The Hyrulean royal family's rule is treated as a self-evident fact of reality, as fate and destiny, the correct order of things. What is that if not the divine right of kings?
The divine right of kings was already the logic the series was operating under. What does Hylia's addition change about the framing of the previous games? Were there protests from non-Hylian peoples against the royal family's rule that have now been invalidated by canon? No. Because anyone who challenged the Hyrulean family's right to rule was already the bad guy. Skyward Sword did not introduce the unquestionable divine right of kings to the series; it merely agreed with it. That warrants criticism, but blaming it for 'ruining the lore' is strange when all it does is fall in line with the previous games and their framing.
I can't argue against the critiques regarding Demise as much, since they mostly center around what it does to Ganondorf's character, and the only game I've played with him as of yet is Ocarina of Time. Until I've played Wind Waker, which apparently does a lot to deepen him as a character, I'm not comfortable making statements on his character (that don't strictly pertain to Ocarina of Time). I will say, however: Demise is not out of character for the series' treatment of evil either. The vast majority of villains in the series I've encountered so far are evil for the sake of being evil. The flat good/evil dichotomy that Hylia and Demise represent changes nothing about the rest of the games I've played, because that dichotomy was already part of the fabric of the universe. Whether or not there is an Evil God causing it materially changes nothing about the series.
Also, I've seen people blaming Skyward Sword's introduction of Hylia for Breath of the Wild's Fantasy Christianity and monotheism, which is just blatantly unfair. Breath of the Wild very obviously wanted to create a world even more in line with typical Western-style fantasy than Hyrule already was in previous games. That's why they added Monotheistic Fantasy Christianity and did away with (or at least ignored) the Golden Three and other gods established over the course of the series. Skyward Sword did not do that. Din/Farore/Nayru are canon and heavily implied to be far more powerful than Hylia and Demise ever were. If Hylia hadn't existed Breath of the Wild would've picked another god to be monotheistic about, or invented one. Blaming Skyward Sword for Breath of the Wild's narrative decisions is simply unfair and unfounded.
Lastly: the Zelda series does not care about what previous games in the series have canonized. Skyward Sword is actually probably the game I've seen that is most careful about not contradicting previous lore, even if it did obviously go ahead and make a bunch of stuff up. Pretty much every Zelda game I've played so far has blatantly contradicted previously established characters or lore in some way. The games use whatever canon and lore they want to use, and discard the rest. Skyward Sword hardly ruined the possibility of the series ever challenging the Hyrulean family's divine right of kings or the good/evil dichotomy, because if a Zelda game wants to do that, it can simply ignore Skyward Sword's very existence, or radically retcon its lore. The lore established in Skyward Sword is not any more binding than the lore established in the rest of the series, and it's silly to pretend otherwise. If the series ever wants to take on the daunting task of confronting the unfortunate implications baked into the very fabric of its reality, Skyward Sword's lore is hardly going to stop it. Like, TOTK completely retconned the entire game's plot pretty much, come on now.
(And if the LOZ series itself is perfectly content ignoring or retconning parts of its lore, I don't see why fans can't do so either. Skyward Sword does not stop you from forming your own interpretations.)
There are a lot of rightful criticisms to be made about Skyward Sword and the lore it established, but they're largely extensions of criticisms that apply to the series as a whole. Skyward Sword did not invent these issues, nor did it remove the possibility of confronting them. Its lore is the product of the series' unquestioned acceptance of the good/evil dichotomy and the divine right of kings, not its cause. It's a symptom, not the problem. The worst you can accuse it of is being a particularly blatant symptom.
I agree that Hylia and Demise are uninteresting additions to the series' lore, and I think it's fair to be pissed at the way they give an explicit in-universe validation to the games' framing. But ultimately, all Skyward Sword did was fall in line with logic the series has long since operated under: that Hyrule and its royal family is good and all who oppose them are evil. Singling it out as uniquely problematic does nothing except let the other games off the hook.
Skyward Sword's story operates under some very concerning logic and has some extremely unfortunate implications, and criticism for that is warranted, but saying it 'ruined the lore' is disproportionate. The lore sucked to begin with.

Upstairs
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Zelda Spellman/Lilith
Summary: Alternate ending to Chapter IX. Instead of sleeping through the night, Zelda ascends the stairs to discover what Lilith is doing in her bedroom.
N.B.: Also posted on AO3. Remember, this is just fantasy, please suspend your disbelief.
Zelda awoke in the night. Lilith had placed her on the couch, setting it up nicely with pillows and blankets––though it was obvious that she didn’t expect guests very often. In the moments leading up to their goodnights, she’d hunted for the extra blankets and had ended up taking the extra pillows from her own bed, apologising for the fact that she did not have any spares.
Zelda hardly cared. She was an unexpected guest.
Lilith had completed some of her administration work through the evening, permitting Zelda to sit by her as they discussed the semantic difference in the work between high school and college–there was still funding to be scavenged for, boards and parents to answer to. In the fine details, it sometimes seemed very similar.
And yet, discussing their work like that had been surprisingly enjoyable. It’d been a soft ending to an otherwise hard today, and somehow Zelda had fallen asleep tasting hot chocolate on her tongue with a yearning in her chest.
She hadn’t conversed with Lilith like that before. Furthermore, she hadn’t conversed with anyone in such a matter in some time. It’d been…nice if she was honest with herself.
Stirring, Zelda turned and faced the hearth, watching the red and gold embers glow in the last remaining log. The remains of the fire would die soon, but the heat held in the house, despite its age. Zelda shifted, moving against the pillow to get comfortable again as she closed her eyes and began to drift asleep.
Just as the edges of a dream touched over her, she heard a noise.
Soft, muted, like a whimper.
Zelda turned, looking to where the stairs were in the dark of the house and wondered if Lilith was having nightmares…or if she was doing something else. Surely she wasn’t. Surely Lilith knew that Zelda might hear her if she were doing such an activity.
There was the sound of floorboards creaking, shifting, and another vocal noise.
Zelda sat up, feeling her heart thud in her chest. She should turn over and sleep again. She shouldn’t stand up or creep across the cold wooden floors, across the rug, and ascend up the stairs.
She shouldn’t…and yet she did.
On the first step, she paused, looking up at the bedroom door. A soft light, likely a lamp, poured from the partially opened doorway. Here, Zelda could hear the soft, panting breath, though it didn’t distinguish if it was pain or pleasure.
She could be having a nightmare.
And yet Zelda was certain of what was occurring as she took another step, her hand on the banister, feeling her skin brush against the polished wood.
The stairs creaked, and she paused, but the soft noise didn’t cease. Instead, they sounded louder as if to pique her curiosity. Zelda continued up the stairs, feeling her throat constrain, her breath held in her lungs. Her mouth felt dry as she made it up to the second floor, trying to peer into the room and confirm her suspicions. Lilith wasn’t trying to be discreet-–she wanted her to see.
She shifted closer to the bedroom and hesitated.
There was a swallowed noise like a moan cut off, and Zelda stepped closer, nudging the door wider. She knew what Lilith was doing, and yet a curiosity to see it, witness it for her own eyes pressed her closer.
The door opened wider, and there Lilith laid, on top of her sheets, her fingers stroking between her legs, back arching as her heels dug in, grounding her on the duvet as she gasped. It was a sight to see, and Zelda felt stuck to the floor, her body unwilling to move as she watched Lilith’s body shift, muscles tensing before easing again.
And then her head turned to face her. It went from a moment of Zelda’s voyeurism into an intentional exhibitionist activity on Lilith’s part.
Lilith’s blue eyes stared at her, her hands continuing to stroke, her mouth parted before a smile tugged at the lips. “Enjoying the show?”
Zelda went to ask, “what are you doing” but the answer was obvious, so she held those words back. She went to inquire if Lilith deliberately tried to summon her, but that too was obvious. She stepped closer, and Lilith’s hand slowed its pace, her eyes unwavering as she watched Zelda stand before the end of the bed.
Zelda undressed from the nightgown before she crawled onto the bed, moving towards Lilith on all fours until she was positioned above her. And then, with one hand, she slid Lilith’s away from between her legs.
“May I?” Zelda asked.
“It’s been a while…” Lilith whispered. “Since I let anyone touch me.”
Zelda rested her hand on the bed, her body hovering away from touching her. “We don’t have to have sex. I can watch if you prefer, or I can go back downstairs––“
Lilith leaned up, capturing her mouth as one hand seemed to curl around Zelda’s neck, pulling her closer, as the other reached for Zelda’s hand, leading her intentionally between her legs. She wanted her to stay; even Zelda could take such a hint.
Zelda slid her fingers against the sex, feeling the wetness against Lilith’s vulva as she stroked. She kissed her deeper, feeling drawn closer and closer against the woman’s body.
Lilith’s words, it’s been a while rang through her head, leading her touch. It wasn’t fair to fuck her, to treat her like she was just fulfilling a need. If anything, Lilith deserved to be worshipped, to be shown that this wasn’t only about sex.
Zelda wanted her, wanted to experience this with her––and God, that should terrify her, but right now, her mind was clouded with the feeling of Lilith’s tongue against hers and how her arousal coasted her fingertips.
She pulled back, looking into Lilith’s eyes as she slid down the bed, kissing over the woman’s collarbone, down her clavicle. She paused, pressing her mouth over Lilith’s breast as her hand continued to stroke her sex before she began to kiss down her again, over the ribs, her belly, her hips––pressing light kisses against the skin as she felt feeling the woman’s breath rise and fall, desire palpable in the air as she moved her mouth down, low over the mound. And then she slid her fingers away, pressing her tongue between the slick folds to taste her.
Lilith’s hips arched up, a small whimper breaking through the air. Zelda did it again, flicking her tongue, sliding deep over the labia, tasting the arousal before she did it again, broader this time.
“Zelda––!“
Zelda paused, slowing between Lilith’s legs as she looked up to see the woman’s brow pressed, her mouth parted as she gasped long, deep breaths, rocking against her. Her hair was cast wild around her, and for a moment, Zelda was completely enamoured by how she appeared.
She hadn’t expected the sound of Lilith’s moan to strike through her like that, to bloom in her chest like that. As she ran the flat of her tongue against her again, she felt Lilith shiver, her hips shaking as she tried to urge the mouth where she wanted it to be.
“I like you like this,” Zelda whispered. There was a soft inquiry noise, shaken with a moan. “For once, I get to see how you look when you come.”
Lilith’s noises were…explicit. They rung through Zelda’s ears, electrifying down her spine––because of this, she couldn’t help but try to summon them over and over, seeing how many different ways Lilith could keen and whine as she licked and sucked over her sex, around her clit and back until she heard the sweetest sound.
Lilith began to whimper, a soft”Please,” coming out with short and sharp breaths from desperation. Zelda obeyed the request, sliding inside of her to feel Lilith’s sex squeeze around her fingers.
She could feel the duvet shifting as Lilith’s hands seemed to claw at the material, her feet pressing at the mattress as she arched against Zelda’s mouth––and Zelda felt this moment hold in her mind. Lilith was coming undone because of her; she was pleading into the air, saying her name, crying out because of what Zelda’s tongue and fingers were doing to her.
It was a powerful and humbling feeling. One she wanted to live in for a few seconds longer.
Zelda felt as Lilith squeezed again, her body getting closer and closer. The moans had cut to bright, sharp breaths as her movements became all the more jarring.
Zelda glanced up again and then watched as Lilith rocked, her head tilting back as she came gasping, looking like some goddess in the middle of worship. And then her chest rose with breath and fell again as she dropped back against the bed, the orgasm finalising.
Zelda pulled away slowly, taking care to sit up as Lilith remained panting on the bed, her chest rising and falling before her head tilted to look at her. She gave a small laugh and then smiled, shifting up onto her elbows despite the lethargy to her limbs. “I’m pleased you came upstairs,” she said.
“I should hope so,” Zelda advised. “Otherwise, this situation would be quite awkward.”
“No, I mean…” she paused to laugh, shifting so that she sat up properly, tucking her knees underneath her, though her shoulders sagged, her body still tired from activity. “I was hurt when you left because I enjoyed our time together…probably more than I should, but who says you can’t have favourite clients?”
To that, Zelda smiled, her chest warming. “I bet you say that to all the girls.”
“No,” Lilith said. “I don’t. I don’t know what you’re after with me, Zelda, but if you’re honest, I am prepared to be honest, too, with what I want.” She paused there, biting her lip before adding. “For us.”
There it was, a shift in their dynamic. Zelda felt the words in her chest, the constraint pull. What did she want? She swallowed, feeling her mouth go dry, a panic rising. It was awful to feel so exposed, to be naked and tasting Lilith on her mouth and uncertain as to what she wanted. Was it a relationship? Was it sex? Was it the feeling of relief and crying and the words I’m proud of you whispered over and over?
“I’m satisfied with where we stand,” she lied.
Lilith seemed to pause, and for a moment, there was a pang of hurt on her face. With it, Zelda turned away, feeling the awkwardness pile between them. Gone was the casual relief, the fun and ease that had built between them, and now an awkwardness.
“Of course,” Lilith responded, and then, with a nod, she shifted, looking to Zelda. “And what are we? Because right now, you’re not my client. So what’s…this?”
Zelda blinked, shifting. “I–I don’t know,” she admitted.
Lilith nodded again, her face masking into the familiar expression Zelda had come to know of her dominatrix. “Perhaps you should think on what this is, and then let me know however you want to define it. But, I need to understand what parameters you’re setting when you advise that you arecurrently satisfied with where we stand.’”
Zelda swallowed and nodded. “Of course.”
And then Lilith’s expression softened. “Good. Now…did you want a cup of tea before you return to the couch?” Zelda didn’t need to read between the lines to notice that she was being kicked out.
“No, I…I can make my own way.” She shifted off from the bed, moving to grab the nightgown and tug it on. The words continued to hum in her head, the inquiry from Lilith, and what are we followed by the soft, sweetened voice. It’s been a while…since I let anyone touch me.
Zelda realised that her heart was heavy with guilt as she made her way downstairs, moving to lie back on the couch. Lilith liked her, and Zelda had essentially recoiled away from that vulnerability. She wasn’t sure what that meant for them but knew that she needed to consider Lilith’s question fairly, take the time to consider it.
What did she want?
The next morning was quiet. Lilith was polite as she made breakfast and then offered to take Zelda home. Through the drive, Zelda sat rigid in her seat, feeling the last night run through her head. What had begun awful had slowed to becoming an almost nice evening and then somehow devolved to her feeling guilty over what had occurred.
She sighed, looking out at the window.
“You’ve huffed every minute for the last five minutes,” Lilith advised. “Either you’re trying to get my attention, or you’re still embarrassed about last night.”
“Who said I was embarrassed?” Zelda asked––despite the truth of the observation.
Lilith glanced at her. “I did, just then,” she pointed out. “Did you want to involve me in your thoughts?”
“Not particularly.”
“Suit yourself. But the only reason that I have been frustrated with you is that you’re not honest with me. Which, as you recall, was the only thing I requested from you.”
Zelda was silent at that. Last night, it had been her only request. And if Zelda looked back, on the first night at her townhouse, it’d been her only request then, too.
As the drive continued in the quiet, Zelda felt the words shift in her head as she realised that perhaps she was unnecessarily complicating this. She turned and looked to Lilith. “I enjoy your company,” she advised. Lilith blinked and glanced at her.
“I enjoy your company, too.”
“I––“ she paused then, trying to find the words. “I don’t know what I want. I enjoy the…activities we involve in. The sex. But anything further than that, is difficult for me. I have a full-time job that requires out-of-office hours for it to be effectively maintained and a niece who I’m raising, which feels like its own full-time job––not to mention Hilda and Ambrose. I can’t…I don’t have time for a relationship. It wouldn’t be fair to you.”
“Is that the only reason? You don’t feel you’d be able to fairly share your time?”
“It is.”
Lilith’s fingers tapped on the steering wheel. “For clarity’s sake, if that weren’t an issue, are you saying that you would potentially be interested in a relationship?”
Zelda swallowed, feeling the familiar panic rise. “I wouldn’t pursue it at this stage.”
“That’s not a no.”
She turned, looking to Lilith, catching a strange hardened expression, as if Lilith was holding back something. “I enjoy your company outside of sex, too,” Zelda admitted. “But it’s not fair to dwell on maybes when my life isn’t ready for such a step.”
Lilith nodded, but she smiled nonetheless. “How about we uncomplicated this. Once a week, I’ll set a time for you and me in unpaid services on the weekend. We can engage in kink if you like, or we can just sit and talk as friends, or we can have sex. But perhaps instead of being client and service provider, we could be friends with some additional benefits.”
“Friends,” Zelda echoed, feeling the word on her tongue. “I’m happy to pay.”
“I know. It’s not about that. It’s unethical for me to continue to make you pay one half of the time and yet not the other half when I summon you for my own sexual desires. This way, I think we’ll both feel more comfortable.”
Zelda nodded. A set time she could pencil in. A friend. It wasn’t a situation she disliked, though a strange ache filled her chest––truthfully, she did want more, but she stood by what she said. There was no room in her life for a partner. The last decade of dating was proof enough for that. “I would like that,” she agreed.
“So would I,” Lilith said. “Because I enjoyed your tongue last night, and I want to see what other skills you have hidden from me.”
“Is that so?”
“It is, indeed,” Lilith said. “In fact, we’re not that far from my other townhouse. If you like…we could begin with this arrangement today. Test the waters, so to speak.”
Zelda wanted to advise that they probably tested the waters last night, but who was she to argue against Lilith offering sex? “I think that sounds agreeable––though if we’re ‘testing waters’ and checking for ‘hidden skills,’ perhaps I should take the lead this time and show you what I’m truly capable of.”
“I told you before, I’m more than happy to reverse our roles,” Lilith said before she gave her a quick glance. “But out of curiosity…what are you looking at doing?”
“Why don’t you pull off this road, and I’ll give you a preview?”
Lilith did, and Zelda showed her what she could actually do with just her hands as she fucked Lilith in the front seat, making her come as she ground against Zelda’s thigh, her hot breath fogging up the car windows to prevent any curious onlookers from peering in and seeing Zelda’s mouth wrapped around her breast as her fingers curled inside of her.
Perhaps the shift in their relationship was for the best––it at least eased the ache in Zelda’s chest, providing warmth and steadiness as she listened to Lilith make those most beautiful noises she’d ever had the pleasure to hear.
She didn’t know what the future held, but right now, Lilith was apart of that future, and that seemed to steady her.
“Just you wait, Zelda Spellman,” Lilith panted as she shifted back into her seat, adjusting her clothes. “I’m going to tie you up and fuck you hard––I know what you like.”
“And what’s that?”
“Control,” Lilith teased. “So what happens when I take that away and make you become a whimpering mess

Desired Fate, Chapter 15
Read on FF.net
Read on Ao3
King Rhoam had to collect himself, letting out a huff of defeat, grappling with whom he should be most angry. The thought occurred to him that he was partially to blame. What if his stern treatment of Zelda had stunted her ability to unlock her power, or worse... had chased her into the arms of that man? He feared it was true, but he couldn't let it show. This was one of the worst possible outcomes coupled with one he never would have imagined. It was a lot to take in, but he felt - no knew - that as King his immediate concern was the Calamity. Finding a fitting punishment for that man would have to be considered later - if there was a later, which was unlikely without Zelda's fully realized power. But Rhoam knew if he had the chance he would be willing to break her heart one final time if it meant that man was dealt with appropriately. In time, she would move on and she would thank him someday.
Rhoam surveyed the Champion's shaken expressions. The wind silently sent the tall grass rippling, giving an unsettled atmosphere in the wake of what had been witnessed. Rhoam turned his back to them, focusing on the beast that was encircling Hyrule castle. There was a long pause before he spoke. "Champions, it is time to take to your Divine Beasts. Although we may lack the means to seal Ganon away, we must continue to defend Hyrule until the very end."
Impa took in the expressions of the Champions and spoke. "Wait, Your Majesty. If I may… Astor gave a warning regarding the Divine Beasts, and considering that Ganon has already taken control of the Guardians I think we should listen. We must be prepared for anything Ganon may throw at us."
Rhoam turned. "Are you seriously suggesting we listen to the ramblings of that insane man calling himself a prophet?"
"But, Your Majesty… What other choice do we have?"
"Not a chance! I'm not going to hearken to anything that man has to say. By the goddesses, he's going to need someone holier than Hylia when I find him!"
The Sheikah woman shifted uncomfortably but stood her ground. "But, Your Majesty..." This time, Rhoam could detect the tiniest hint of disapproval in her voice, perhaps even veiled disgust, a tone that believed he should be begging Zelda's forgiveness for humiliating her and treating that prophet with such disrespect since it was so painfully obvious Zelda cared about him for some reason Rhoam couldn't comprehend. "What about Princess Zelda? I'm worried for her."
"You think I'm not?" Rhoam said, irritated.
"We can't be so quick to give up on her, nor can we discount the effort she has put in. If we take extra precautions we can still use the Divine Beasts to locate her. I choose to remain optimistic and believe she will access her power very soon."
Rhoam was at a loss. Impa was too much like a friend to Zelda, not the advisor he had appointed her to be. He was baffled at how she did not at all seem angered by Zelda's shameful display and complete abandonment of her duty. Rhoam was about to rebuke the Sheikah woman when the four champions and Link gave a nod of agreement at Impa's words. The King stood silently as the group began to devise a plan to oppose the blights, should they appear.
oOo
Zelda opened her eyes and looked around, assessing the place Astor had taken them. It appeared to be an area of the Lost Woods she was unfamiliar with. Yet there was something distinctly different about this place from those dreary woods. There was an abundant amount of Silent Princess flowers everywhere, more than Zelda had ever seen in one place. She knew immediately that there was something otherworldly about this place.
"No one will bother us here," Astor said calmly. Zelda could tell he was growing more accustomed to her touch. He was not as eager to let go of her as he had before. The shoulder of his robe was damp from her tears. The prophet took notice but mercifully said nothing.
"Where are we? It looks a bit like the Lost Woods, but… It's just so beautiful." She looked up, seeing stars dimly giving their light through the canopy of the trees. Was it always night here? A beautiful, illusionary realm where time remained still?
Astor gave Zelda's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "It's a place of respite I think. I found this place after I cut ties with the Yiga Clan. And I think for you, rest is well deserved."
Zelda dropped her gaze. "How can I rest when everyone is facing the Calamity, while I am here in relative comfort and safety? Already, Father has accused me of running from my duty… And he has no reason to think otherwise… At least from his perspective. I..I'm so ashamed. I can only hope that with your words, the Champions will be safe." Zelda said, tensely, still trying to recover.
"He's an ignorant old fool with neither the blood of the goddess or the gift of prophecy. As a prophet of the Calamity, Ganon impressed its fear of your power upon me, sending me visions of things to come, so I know you will awaken to your power soon. That is fate's true course that Ganon seeks to upend. And, I'm not unaware of how hard you've tried. I have watched your pains to unlock your power for some time now." And it was true. All those years he had watched with calm assurance that Calamity Ganon would rise and bring Hyrule to its knees, she trained by praying in freezing cold water until she collapsed and bore the brunt of her failure that only stung more as the years rolled by.
Zelda gave a small nod of acknowldgement, although she was too broken down to take much comfort in his words. She wanted so much to touch his face and tell him how much she loved him, but she held back, not wanting to feel any more vulnerable than she already did. She was afraid she might hurt him on account of the fresh bruise he had received. It was clear that her father had struck him. "I was so afraid of what Father might do to you. I'm so sorry for asking you to accompany me back to the Castle". H-he's a mean old man…" Zelda sniffed, breaking into a relieved but slightly tearful giggle.
Astor smirked slightly, finding Zelda adorable in her moment of catharsis. "You managed to abide that man for seventeen years? I see that you are stronger than I would have thought. And don't be sorry. There's nowhere else I need to be except by your side."
Zelda smiled a bit at his words. It was such a relief to see her smile again.
Astor continued. "I never thought it possible, but you were able to pull me back over the threshold and away from Calamity Ganon. No one has given me the amount of consideration you have."
Zelda's lovely green eyes lit up and Astor knew those dark days serving Calamity Ganon were finally over, and most surprising to him, he hadn't realized how awful those years had been until now. It was disorienting, like waking up from a distended dream. And he couldn't resist her any longer. No one had ever held to him or looked upon him in the way she did. He couldn't be the one to help her unlock her power, he knew that, but he wanted to at least pretend.
"How can I help you unlock your power…?" There was a sensual note in his voice, as he cupped her cheek, still damp with tears. Zelda's breath hitched in anticipation as he dipped his head to meet his lips to hers. She gave a small sigh of happiness, trapping his lips with hers, wishing she could savor the moment for all time. A single tear slid down her cheek, feeling a sense of release, drinking deeply of that kiss. She pulled down the hood of his robe, being careful to avoid the bruises on his hollow cheeks as her fingers grazed his pallid skin.
"Take all that you need from me," He breathed between kisses, taking her in the most intimate embrace before grabbing her under the ass and hoisting her up with some effort. Zelda gave a surprised but pleased sound.
"Exquisite..." Astor complimented, giving it a squeeze.
Zelda giggled and kissed him again, slowly, intensely, though she wobbled a bit, Astor struggling to support her weight. An intoxicating warmth spread throughout her whole being, her body yearning for his undeniably. But a dim feeling of sadness began to creep in as she wondered if they ever truly had a chance to be together that wasn't in secret. Would anyone ever accept them when there were so many reasons they would object? He would likely be put to death, and she'd have no say in the matter. Yet she couldn't stop herself from loving him.
If I can't realize my power, there might not be life after the Calamity, Zelda scolded herself.
Astor gave a pleased laugh. "Alright, Your Highness. You're breaking my arms." He set her down, with an apologetic look.
Zelda uttered an almost involuntary whimper of longing, reaching out for him again, her anxieties starting to overtake her again as doubts plagued her more than ever. "Lay down with me while I fall asleep?"
Astor gave her a stunned, blank expression for a moment.
"Hey, don't make this difficult." Zelda teased, pulling at the strings of his robe.
"Y-yes, Princess" Astor laughed as they kissed, carefully taking off his gold belt, the string of beads around his hips, and collar that hung over his shoulders. He helped her remove his robe, which was held together with hidden clamps. Astor draped the robe over her shoulders, and Zelda wrapped it around herself like a blanket, taking a moment to enjoy its softness and the warmness of it.
Zelda's gaze moved over him, admiring his silhouette. Under the robe, he wore a high-collared crimson shirt and a pair of black riding pants that did not appear ancient and worn like his robe.
They laid down together on the moss-covered ground. Astor slid his hand under the robe which was draped over her, sliding his hand over the curve of her hip where the folds of her pure white dress gathered. His name escaped her, softly. Zelda raised up slightly to lean on his chest and kissed him vehemently. Astor greedily wrapped an arm around her waist, kissing back with savage abandon.
Zelda drew away slowly, pushing his braided lock of hair away from his eye absentmindedly, noticing the fine lines under his eyes he hid under dark makeup. His dark brows tensed as he smiled a bit, giving her an affectionate but pensive gaze
Zelda sensed there was something he was keeping from her. Like there was something haunting him. Was something going to happen to him that he knew about? He was a prophet after all. She couldn't imagine the heavy emotional toll that came with glancing one's own future.
Zelda could barely keep her eyes open. It wasn't long before she fell asleep in his arms.
"Happy Birthday, Princess…" Astor had waited such a long time for this fated day, the day Ganon would rise. Yet, he was not spending it as he would have originally envisioned. He could barely comprehend that he was lying next to the Princess of Hyrule, helping to comfort her on her darkest day. And for the first time in his life, he understood what it was to love and be loved.

So I've mentioned before that usually poly ships don't really appeal to me because there's always one of the relationships that I like more or less than the others and so the ship entirely loses its appeal for me because of that
But you know what poly ship I actually DO like ?
Zelda x Lana x Link from Zelda Hyrule Warriors
They're just- They're great together, ok ? All of them
Zelda and Link are some kind of fated lovers, two souls bound by destiny and powers beyond comprehension and the two we meet in Hyrule Warriors really give off that whole soulmate feel since their very first meeting, it's adorable. Link's expression when they fail to find Zelda says it all : he's not just looking for his princess, he's looking for someone he's genuinely worried about, someone he feels a connection with, and he's scared he'll lose her before he could even properly talk to her.
Lana has been in love with Link for... well, we don't know how long, but she's been in love with all of his reincarnations, she watched their lives to see more of him until the day she couldn't stand it anymore and Ganondorf used the power of her love to turn her full evil, so that says something about how strong her feelings are. Also she values Link's happiness over her own feelings because she knows she can't destroy the link he shares with Zelda and she just wants him to be happy even if it's not with her and that will always be my #1 sign that someone is a good person and their feelings are real and genuine.
Zelda and Lana don't interact much in the game's story, but the few times they do, Zelda is nothing but kind and friendly to Lana, even being the one to ask her if they'll ever meet again, even though they had just heard Cya say that Lana wants to make Link hers and at this point we're supposed to have accepted that Link and Zelda are soulmates, so she'd have pretty understandable reasons to not really want Lana around the boy she's supposedly attracted to. And you know how the characters have little cheering phrases for each other when the player character reaches a certain amount of kills in a battle ? I just find the phrases between Lana and Zelda to be absolutely adorable. I think they're the most admirative bunch of the game (aside from Zelda's line to Link and Proxie's lines for Zelda, but that works in the poly ship idea's direction)
Also by the end of the game all three of them hold a piece of the Triforce and I think it would be pretty great to see the three holders coming together, loving each other, forming a whole the same way the three parts of the Triforce are meant to.
So that's for canon information, which admittedly is just a basis for headcanons given how scarce it is, so here are my own :
- Zelda is attracted to Link, sure, but I also think she's really attracted to Lana for the reasons cited above : she's always kind and friendly to her, never suspicious even when she learns that Lana and Cya used to be the same person, she's the one who speaks out when Lana is leaving to express her desire to see her again, etc.
- Zelda's feelings and behaviour toward Lana would surely have an effect on her because, honestly : look at Zelda, look at her smile, imagine being on the receiving end of it, and dare tell me you wouldn't propose to her in the same breath. Anyway, I think Lana would develop a bit of a crush on the princess, especially if she's trying to move on from her feelings for Link because she thinks it's hopeless. She wouldn't be trying to fall for someone else, much less the princess since she's just as inaccessible as the hero, but I think she'd be trying to put some distance between herself and her feelings for Link, try to talk to her friends more and do something other than obsessing over the boy, and develop her relationship with Zelda as a consequence. When she realises she has a crush on Zelda now ? She just screams and hits her head on a wall because GODDAMNIT she did it again. Of all the people in Hyrule, her next crush just HAD to be the one her old crush was fated to be with.
- Meanwhile, Link is around two gorgeous, smart, kind, supportive girls who seem to like him and while he's been attracted to the princess since the first time he saw her, I think he would have developed a close bond with Lana too while fighting together. She's playful and cute, but also strong and reliable, and I think, in the weeks where he fights with Lana and doesn't know where Zelda is, he would develop a small crush on her, which wouldn't really leave even after the princess' official return and would actually only grow when he learns the truth about Lana's birth and feelings.
- now fast forward to the end of the game, the three had some time to sit down and think through their feelings and realise that they like both of the others and have a hard time deciding what to do about it. Or rather, Lana thinks she should just exile herself before she falls in love with the Goddess or something, but Link and Zelda do ponder what they should do, because suddenly, the obvious, fated love they've heard so many tales about doesn't seem so certain and they don't know if they could ever be truly happy without the witch who's wormed her way into their hearts.
- I think Zelda would approach Link to tell him about it first. She's a reasonable, mature young woman who tries to talk things through and see from other people's perspective, so I think her go to move would be to talk about it, but Lana's feelings have been hurt enough as it is, so she'd go to Link first to try and see things a bit more clearly before saying anything to Lana. Thanks to that, they realise that they both like each other and Lana as well, and so they decide to try and see what Lana thinks of them.
- Problem is, like I said, Lana thinks she should self-exile before her stupid heart makes one more stupid decision about who she should be in love with, and that starts by avoiding her crushes at any cost. Luckily, Zelda and Link end up cornering her, but her emotions are so volatile at this point that she just blurts out that she likes them both and doesn't know what to do about it anymore (among many other things and in a way that's a bit hard for the other two to understand until something clicks and a lightbulb goes off in their heads). Of course, Zelda and Link are elated and quick to tell her that they both like her too and maybe they could try all loving each other ? There's a lot of smiles and tears and hugs and they're all really happy.
- They thought it would take some time to adjust to this new kind of relationship, but not at all : they clicked together like pieces of the same puzzle, loving toward each other and comfortable showing it. Lana was the shyest of them at first since she was still half-convinced this was a dream and she would wake up any moment, but one adoring look from her partners (because let's be honest, Zelda and Link, once aware of their feelings and knowing that they are returned, would be the loveliest, dorkiest, goofiest, most adoring partners anyone in Hyrule has ever had) would reassure her right away, and before long she starts being more open about her affections and showing her love for Zelda and Link more easily.
- since they're all cinnamon rolls but two of them are socially awkward and the other is leading a country at age 19 and probably has A Lot to deal with, I think them trying to comfort each other when one is looking glum or stressed would be pretty fun. Like, when Zelda is overworking herself with the kingdom's affairs, the other two will team up to try and ease off her burdens by taking some themselves, but after reading the same piece of paperwork 5 times and still not understanding what it is even for, they give up and just work with Impa to clear off Zelda's schedule for one evening and prepare a nice dinner and relaxing bath for her so she can at least recharge her batteries. Sometimes though, she has so much to do they can't even manage that, so they at least try to support her as much as they can in the little ways (bringing her tea and cake when she's been holed up in her office for hours, taking her to bed when she's fallen asleep on her desk, taking care of the minor demands that can be time-consuming but not really difficult to resolve, etc). Zelda loves them for it and always makes sure to let them know.
(- they try to cook dinner themselves and this in itself deserves a whole post because they try to do something GREAT and that Zelda will love but they are NOT royal level cooks. Far from it. In a modern AU, they'd be living off of ramen noodles. In the end nothing they prepared is edible so they end up asking the cooks to prepare something, but Zelda is still very touched (and amused))
- When Lana is depressed (because she thinks of Cya or has a moment of self-doubt), Link tries to cheer her up by taking her on a nice walk, going to the market together, playing games, or something like that, while Zelda will bring her flowers and tasty treats or just cuddle with her for a while, which is often enough to make Lana feel much better. On the worst occasions, Zelda takes one or two days off and Link and her take Lana on a trip, just the three of them, to have fun and just be together until the bad moment passes. But the first time Lana said she was sad because she was thinking of what happened to Cya and the fact that she couldn't experience the happiness Lana now had with Zelda and Link ? Dumbass princess who thinks she can do anything because she runs a country decided "hey, how about we try to raise the dead ?" and Link had to do damage control. Impa had to step in at some point to prevent Zelda from desecrating holy grounds.
- When Link is glummy, it's usually about pretty deep stuff like destiny and his past lives (for example, the fact that his past lives and the princesses from the past never met their Lana causes him great distress because now he can't imagine his life without her or Zelda, so he gets anxious thinking that his past incarnations might have spent their whole lives feeling a hole somewhere in their life). Zelda and Lana usually try to cheer him up with cuddles, afternoon naps in the gardens, reading together in the library or other quiet, relaxing activities, which he loves and helps ease his mind, but the first time the gloominess lingered... Let's just say that dumbass princess moment 2.0 + time witch are not a great mix when trying to cheer up a man worried about his past lives. Impa had to step in again, this time to prevent some really fucked up changes to the space-time continuum or whatever.
- I kinda doubt that Hyrule has laws about poly marriages, and doubt even more that poly marriage is something that's happened in the royal family before ("but what if the first born is a child between the King consort and the Queen consort, without a drop of royal blood ?"), but in any case, this is dumbass "I raise the dead and travel through time" princess we're talking about, so she manages to pass a law that makes it legal for multiple people to marry, including the royal family. She did that after Link, Lana and her had expressed interest in getting married, and the second the law was passed (in secret, she wanted it to be a surprise for her lovers), she drags them to their favourite quiet spot to relax and cuddle away from castle trouble and responsibilities and she proposes to them. Link and Lana tackle her to the ground and cover her in kisses while laughing and crying and- ok, it's a bit of a mess, but they're happy and they're gonna get MARRIED ! The first time the girls call each other "wife", Link their "husband" and Link calls them his "wives", they cry a little and hug the breath out of each other.
That's all I've got for now in the SFW section (do tell me if you're interested in the NSFW headcanons) so
TL;DR : they're cute and goofy and happy and I love them.
