There is a sign on the wall of the coffee shop near the door to the back room where Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008) which reads, "Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy."

Hey friend! I recently watched Dogma (1999), and I liked it! The movie was a little weird and funny, but the characters are fun and lovable little freaks. I was wondering if there are more movies/lore expanding or exploring the same universe? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks a lot :)
Hey there, buddy! It’s good to meet you.
Boy, oh boy, I’m so glad you asked. Yes, “Dogma” is one in a series of films all based in the same universe. It is called the View Askewniverse, because all (or almost all? I don’t retain industry info well) of the films were made under View Askew production company.
According to Kevin Smith, the View Askew series is still ongoing, but so far there are eleven films, an animated series and a number of comic books. It’s tricky to explain, because while all the films take place in the same universe, they branch into separate storylines, with distinct characters. Each film also has it’s own distinct vibe, making genre impossible to pin down. You should know that “Dogma” is the most fantastical and serious the series gets. Most of the films have dramatic elements, hints of the fantastic, but “Dogma” is the only balls to the wall fantasy film of the lot.
The films are (in chronological, rather than release order)
. Vulgar
. Mallrats
. Clerks
. Chasing Amy
. Dogma
. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
. Clerks II
. Zack and Miri Make A Porno
. Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie
. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
. Clerks III
The one constant of the series is Jay and Silent Bob. They appear in all the movies, bar two (“Vulgar” and “Zack and Miri”) . Some films that feature them aIn cameos, such as “Drawing Flies” and “Scream III”, might also count as apocryphal additions to the series, depending on how you look at it.
Anyway, enough of the technicalities, you asked about lore, I believe. I’m going to try and give you a bit of an overview of the series as a whole, at least as well as I can without getting myself in a twist.
So, let’s use Jay and Bob as a centre point, because that’s essentially what they are. You can expand a lot from them. So, as you know, Jay and Silent Bob are residents of Highlands, New Jersey. They are drug dealers, who do most of their business in two places. One is the Eden Prairie Mall (where “Mallrats” takes place) and the other is outside the Quickstop, the convenience store (which is central to the “Clerks” trilogy). The two were the inspiration of in-universe comic book characters, Bluntman and Chronic, which have two in-universe films based on them (three, if you count “Super Groovy Cartoon Movie”). These characters were created by the two male protagonists of “Chasing Amy”.
I wanna stop there, because I genuinely don’t want to spoil too much. I also don’t want to rattle on for a hundred years, because trust me, I could. If you watch the films, either chronologically, or by release (it honestly doesn’t matter), you will be able catch the connections between them all.
It’s worth quickly explaining the “odd one out” films of the series, so you aren’t confused about why I included them. “Vulgar” is the backstory of the clown, who was the original logo mascot of View Askew productions, before Jay and Silent Bob. He appears before the start of “Clerks”, which was the first film Kevin Smith ever released. “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” counts, because one of the side characters appears in “Reboot”. And “Super Groovy Cartoon Movie” does not take place within the actual universe, but is based on an in-universe comic about the Bluntman and Chronic characters.
The “Clerks: The Animated Series” is well worth checking out, if you can possibly get hold of it. It’s a goofy cartoon based in the “Clerks” section of the universe. There are also multiple comics based in this universe, too, which are good fun. I recommend checking out the films first, though.
And, finally, so you know a bit of what to expect, I just want to mark the genre/vibes of each film, because as I said, they can be wildly different.
. Vulgar (Horror/R*pe & Revenge)
. Mallrats (Teen Comedy)
. Clerks (Dramedy with emphasis on comedy)
. Chasing Amy (Dramedy with emphasis on drama/LGBT)
. Dogma (Religious Fantasy/Comedy)
. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (Pure Comedy)
. Clerks II (Dramedy with emphasis on Comedy)
. Zack and Miri Make a Porno (Sex Comedy)
. Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie (Animated Superhero Comedy)
. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (Comedy, but more heartfelt than “Strike Back”)
. Clerks III (Dramedy with emphasis on drama, more so than previous two)
So...I really hope that was helpful, buddy! I did my best, but because the universe is fairly expanded with a lot of characters, it’s tricky to know how much to tell you. If you have any further questions though, please ask! I love, love, love having an excuse to talk about this series!
