Writing Arthur's anxiety attacks feels like it's going to be a fine line between "cathartic to express in a character and I don't need to second-guess the portrayal for once" and "oh ouch that is a bit too inspired by my own psyche"

I think that's how my characterisation does best though, so hey maybe it'll be worth it?

Or maybe I should stop accidentally pushing my own buttons for the sake of good writing. This was meant to be the fun break from Dark Murdery Stuff.

There’s a whole new world of hurt coming to Harry and Meghan, and I hope it starts with new seating assignments on the other side of the aisle in the second row. I’d honestly prefer to see Andrew and the Yorkies sitting behind William during the funeral.

Tbh I am not putting too much faith into this, lol 🤪. After watching the shenanigans that occurred during QE’s funeral, I honestly think that the next one will be a mess too.

Because I know QE was more soft with Andy and she had her last wishes, but there is a ‘precedent’ that monarch’s children are shown front and center in the funeral, Andy was even allowed to wear military uniform to the vigil, harold too, so I won’t be surprised if he has military uniform again, and if he and his attention seeker wife are seated next to King W and Queen C. The ideal would have G,C and L and Camilla next to the new King and Queen and then the working royals next to each other, but alas, Andy’s precedent makes me sweat

And I know W isn’t weak, but if he agreed to that Windsor walkabout with H, I won’t pass out the possibility of W trying that H has his last ’glorious’ moment being front and center to say good by to Pa, specially because with the Queen he had his other cousins, his uncles and aunt, and was more logic to have all of the cousins there but with Charles? Only Charles’ siblings will be supportive, the cousins? Maybe only Peter and Zara, specially if the others didn’t have this close relationship with him.

But maybe I am dramatic and he only copy pastes QE’s funeral but erasing Andrew and giving even less opportunities to Harry.

So a few things.

First, at funerals and personal events (like weddings), order of precedence is based on the relationship to the decedent or celebrant -- spouse > children > grandchildren > siblings > nieces/nephews > aunts/uncles/cousins, rather than the line of succession or the new model of working royals > non-working royals.

So Andrew got priority placement at the funerals (including Philip's service of thanksgiving) and "outranked" the Waleses because it was his parents they were celebrating. The same thing will happen to Harry at Charles's funeral; he will "outrank" everyone else, even the new Prince of Wales (George) because it's his father they are celebrating. (Though that said, I don't think the Waleses family will sit separately with Harry and Meghan between them, even if the kids are all in their 20s and working royals because they are essentially the royal family and the royal brand at that point in the future.)

Second, the sections in Westminster Abbey where the family sits is usually 4-7 people across, depending on what the occasion is and who's invited. Some examples:

4 across - Commonwealth Day Service 2025:

5 across - Prince Philip's Service of Thanksgiving

7 across - Queen's Funeral

So based on all this, I think we can reasonably theorize that the chairs at Charles's funeral would be arranged so that it's Camilla + Waleses on the left side with Sussexes in the right side, regardless of whether the children are there or not or if it's Harry by himself.

But again, all this is just speculation.

Third, The Queen's funeral was an Andrew-and-Harry shenanigans mess because Charles is spineless and inherited the ostrich gene. From everything we've seen of William - he has not shown to be like that. So it's very possible that he will be much more decisive when it comes to funerary shenanigans. But like you said, we don't know.

(On that note - I can see Andrew and Harry fighting for military uniforms at The Queen's funeral because they both served in the military under her command. It may be easier to draw the line at Charles's funeral because neither have served a King Charles in that way, not even honorarily via patronages. But we'll see.)

I'm going to draw the line here about funeral discussions because it freaks some people out and also I'm tired of the Charles stans sending me hate mail for discussing Charles's mortality.
