Nova survivor Yuval Raphael is representing Israel 🇮🇱 at Eurovision 2025.
I am so happy but at the same time am concerned at how she will be treated.
I hope that eurovision is more normal this year

Yuval Raphael, 24, will represent Israel this year at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Yuval is a survivor of the Nova music festival massacre on October 7, 2023.
The recording of Yuval's frantic phone call with her father on that fateful morning is well known to Israelis.
Yuval had taken shelter in a concrete bunker with dozens of other young Israelis. Terrorists threw grenades inside, murdering most of them. Her father urged Yuval to play dead and hide under the bodies of other victims, which she did, for eight long hours.

I don't watch hakochav haba so idk how exactly it went but Yuval Raphael is a great singer, and yeah it's "propaganda" but so is it for basically all the countries and especially those who are in war or conflict lol like Israel isn't special in this. And idrc if it's propaganda. It's literally a song. And like someone said it's going to be really pathetic if people boo her after what she went through. They will and everyone will pretend like it's ok but honestly it's nawt a good look! But the world is hypocritical ❤️ good luck to her. Also anyone who boycotts is an idiot who's missing out

Survivor of Hamas attack to represent Israel at Eurovision 2025
Yuval Raphael, who survived the Hamas attack on Israel, would perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, in May.
Raphael qualified for the contest on Wednesday after winning Rising Star, a televised Israeli singing competition. She was honoured to represent Israel in Eurovision after a vote by Israeli audience.
The 24-year-old singer was partying with friends at the Nova Festival on 7 October 2023 when it was attacked by Hamas militants. According to the Times of Israel, Raphael survived by hiding under bodies in a bomb shelter.
In a separate interview, Raphael said she would use his Eurovision appearance to “tell them the story of the country, of what I went through, of what others went through.”
But not from a place of seeking sympathy. I want it to be from a place of standing strong in the face of this, and in the face of the boos I’m 100 percent sure will come from the crowd.
However, the decision to allow Israel to compete in Eurovision last year drew criticism from the international community because of the country’s actions in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis. The then Israeli contestant Eden Golan was forced to change the title of her song October Rain, which referred to the 7 October attack, in accordance with the rules prohibiting political statements.
Thirty-seven countries will take part in Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

Really funny how Israel has chosen to participate in this year’s ESC, even though they were allegedly ✨so unsafe✨ in Malmö last year. Extremely funny that they’re sending another pro-Israel advocate, when they could have sent someone neutral or even sympathetic to Palestine (or even—wait for this—a Palestinian Israeli), considering that such a candidate might attract less vitriol than another Eden Golan.
It’s almost as though Israel didn’t face meaningful threats in Malmö. It’s almost as though they want to be the victim—regardless of how much they are actually the clear victimizer. It’s almost as though Israel views events like ESC as propaganda opportunities, and people fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

Comments under an article about Yuval Raphael, a young woman representing Israel in Eurovision 2025, who survived October 7 by hiding under dead bodies for 8 hours after the bomb shelter she was in was attacked. She was one of only 11 survivors out of the 50 people in the shelter. People can pretend all they like that their 'antizionism' is righteous activism, but this is fucking abhorrent, and the humanity and compassion in people like this is obviously long gone.

It has been a heartwarming week, seeing seven captive Israeli "flowers" running into the arms of their ecstatic families, stating that they have been "born again". There has also been a religious flowering within many of the families of the hostages and among many previously secular IDF soldiers. The return of foreign workers to Israel has triggered an agricultural "flowering" in farms and kibbutzim. In the revitalized Israeli north, a new Strauss factory will produce milk products from plants, while Israel's Plantopia has switched from lettuce to sprouted oats for its source of milk proteins. In the medical arena, many immobile patients are flowering again, thanks to an Israeli startup that is opening up blocked blood vessels; while other Israeli startups have been restoring health to sufferers of strokes and rheumatoid arthritis. Israel's economy has certainly been flowering again, fueled by its technology ecosystem and investor confidence. And in the sunshine, the almond trees are in full flower a full three weeks before Tu Bishvat - the Jewish New Year for Trees. Finally, Yuval Raphael survived the Oct 7 Nova music festival and will flower again when she represents Israel at the next Eurovision Song Contest. The photo is of my orchid in full bloom again in the winter sunshine.  We pray that most of the remaining hostages are still alive and will soon flower again in the Israeli sunshine.

what I said: the Israeli broadcaster could have chosen to send someone who isn't going to actively cheerlead a genocide. they could have even sent someone who might have said that genocide is bad. the fact that they are choosing people who are actively cheerleading a genocide shows how Israel uses events like Eurovision to manufacture consent for its ongoing ethnic cleansing of and genocide against Palestine.
what your ethnonationalism chose to hear: NO JEWISH PARTICIPANTS AT EUROVISION 🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️❌❌❌
This was probably inevitable ww(.)tumblr(.)com/queerbauten/773586769517182976/really-funny-how-israel-has-chosen-to-participate?source=share
without clicking your fucked up little link I know this about eurovision
NEVER send me links with letters missing and paranthesis like we ww2 spies sending coded messages about co-ordinating international efforts PLEASE
the problem isn't that the songs are about October 7th or they sent a survivor they're pissed there are Jews in their white people singing contest now
it's funny they never made a fuss about Dana international but NOW they're asking her to be retroactively stripped of her winnings for 'pinkwashing genocide'
I bet you if Eurovision picks a Jewish creator from Europe for any European country the tankies will STILL boycott until all the contestants are gentiles

this is a clean version of the performance without the judges' comments and with attenuated audience sounds
