Finally decided to play around with my old lineless style again! Also figured out a way to draw Reimu that I actually really like!
Artist's Notes;
I've mentioned in a few earlier posts that I've been wanting to draw in my lineless style again for a while as a way to test what I've learnt from my previous style in regards to lighting. I did the face first and then for a while was thinking about doing a full body illustration of Reimu just to draw her outfit again. I'll talk about the face first since that's the first drawing I did in this batch.
For the longest time I really couldn't find a way to translate Reimu's face into my style. I was able to make her clothes work out well, just not really her face. I did like elements of how I drew her face a few other times, namely the tiny eyebrows and her pupils, but they didn't really feel like Reimu to me, or at least how I imagined her in my head. I then realized that it was less of a problem with the entire face and moreso the eyes, and it took me quite a bit of trial and error to make something that I was happy with. Also, as much as I thought the tiny eyebrows were cute, it didn't really make sense with her character. Like, from what I know about Japanese history, plucking your eyebrows was something that nobles (rich people) would do, and since Reimu is...neither of those things, I decided to just give her some thicker eyebrows instead (I will be saving the plucked eyebrows for another character though, so they will return). After I got to a face I was happy with, my next challenge was the hair. I did the front part first and liked that enough to continue, and then after more trial and error I realized that deep down I was a short-hair-Reimu-is-best-Reimu-truther this whole time because once I gave up on the long hair and gave her shorter hair something just clicked in my brain. And so, after drawing her outfit in again (this time without the yellow tie which is kinda sad but I'll find a way to incorperate it into future designs because it just was not making sense to me in context with the rest of the outfit) and finnicking around with the bow, I came to a version of Reimu's face that I actually liked. I thought that it made more sense for her character to have her cut it short, mainly because she's doing a bunch of Youkai extermination and she has to keep her hair out of her face somehow. I still wanted to make it kinda messy though, as Reimu is probably too lazy to clean it up herself. I think another reason I like it so much is because in Forbidden Scrollery, Moe Harukawa gave Reimu short hair and that really suited her, so I guess that was just a subconcious reason as to why I liked it so much. I also think that the shorter hair helps to separate her a lot from Marisa, as I think Marisa looks really good with longer hair. Speaking of, now I wanna do a drawing of her and Reimu together to really solidify how I draw them (unlike the previous version where it was just them standing). As much as I do like the face, I am concerned if she looks too much like how I drew Keiki now, but that might just be a product of the stylistic choices I made with her eyes and I might just be overthinking it. I am hyperaware of same face syndrome so that's probably the reason I'm so concerned about it lol.
Now for the fully body drawing. I was struggling to think of a good pose for her, so I just took a picture of myself and used that as a reference while still making slight adjustments for readability's sake. This is another case of, "I've looked at this too long and can spot every single issue with it" but this time I'm still happy with the final product mainly because this was a test drive for how I want to develop my lineless style in the future and for what it is I am more than pleased with the result. The main reason I deviated away from my lineless style was mainly because I was having a hard time with the lighting and making it interesting, and I am so glad that I've finally found a way to make it work! I'm especially happy with the clothes, as I think clothing folds are really fun to draw. I was somewhat inspired by the works of J.C. Lyendecker and the way he draws clothes, though admittedly it is not a one to one, since I mainly wanted to try implying the shading of the clothing folds with shapes (I do really want to do a study of his style one day as his art is incredible). So for the sleeves, I drew in a bunch of triangles where I wanted there to be a strong highlight, roughly coloured in the inside, and then blended them all so it looks like a more subtle. On both of these drawings, I also added in a noise filter to give it some texture (as that's what I used to often do with my drawings) and while I do like it, I might want to experiment with making it more subtle in the future, as it's pretty noticeable in both these drawings. Overall, I'm really happy with the lighting and colours of this drawing, and while I could nitpick several aspects of it (her hand holding the gohei looks too tense, I tried making her look like she was standing on the balls of her feet but the positioning of her Gohei's trail of papers ends up making it look weird, and I could've put more effort into the hair and bow and so many more things), this is more of a piece for me to experiment with my style again, and I'm excited for when I get a new idea for a piece, as I really wanna try some more stuff out with this style!

wow! that's an amazing list. “i’ve been falling in love with you since the first day we met”
A continuation of other tumblr prompts I’ve made into a fic - here
Hopefully chapter four will be the end lolol this fic has been far longer than I intended it to be.
---
Kagome stared out at passing scenery beyond her window with a glazed look dulling her eyes. Heavy thoughts carried her attention far away from the mundane train ride. She hadn't visited Kyoto in years, and especially not for such a special reason before.
Shippo's voice had sounded so strange on the phone. Mature, but not overly deep, maintaining its playfulness. He'd invited her over for a visit right away.
A 'bing!' noise roused her enough to check her phone- which showed a picture of Natsuki posing with a spear and fresh kill.
Kagome snorted, resting her chin on her knuckles. There were a few things about Natsuki that she was surprised Sesshoumaru hadn't commented on.
Number one; her boyfriend was a demon.
And number two; he was, specifically, an inuyoukai. A mongrel. She imagined Sesshoumaru felt mighty smug to know she'd found a demon of the same species as him to date. Natsuki being of mixed breeding surely made the Daiyouki feel all the more superior.
But Kagome had never cared about such things. She'd loved Inuyasha once, too.
The short version of their 'getting together' just two months prior was that she'd located a demon bar a few years ago and had been dating youkai ever since, using the place as a means to meet them. The relief of finding the secret den of long-forgotten youkai had been unparalleled. Kagome now knew exactly how to locate and see through glamorous thanks to years of experience.
She'd found out through the process of elimination that humans just kind of...weren't enough for her. Kagome needed the youki, the rush- the bite of claws, talons or fangs.
Natsuki was one of many in a long line of potential 'forever' partners, but Kagome had long since stopped expecting marriage down the line. If they lasted, that was fine. If not, that was fine too.
She had resolved never to fall hard for someone again.
Natsuki left Tokyo a few days prior to go on a hunting trip with his pack in a remote location up in the mountains, a monthly tradition.
'Can you skip it this time?' Kagome had asked. 'I'd just...really like it if you could come to Kyoto with me?'
'But I don't know your fox friend.'
'Doesn't matter- he hasn't seen me in 500 years. I would feel so much better if you were there.'
Natsuki looked as though she'd spat in his breakfast. 'Ah, uh-' he ran an awkward hand through his light-brown hair. 'I guess?'
The hesitancy and look in his eyes- begging to be let off the hook- made Kagome force a smile and drop the subject.
She sighed, figuring they'd probably break up soon. There wasn't really anything wrong with their relationship, just a difference in values and priorities.
It seemed to be the norm. No huge fight. No big dramatic breakup. Usually she even stayed friends with her exes.
Sesshoumaru was the outlier in all things.
She made certain not to tell the Daiyoukai of her impending singleness. If he was irritatingly optimistic now- Kagome imagined he'd be a nightmare to shake off if she were available.
But he'd stop if I outright told him to never speak to me again.
Her lips thinned, stomach turning at the mere thought.
For the rest of the journey, she resolved not to think about him. And failed miserably.
----
Shippo had greeted her at the door with an enormous hug the second she'd arrived at his hilltop home. Brilliant red hair had grown longer, swept back into a ponytail. Since his house perched a little further out from most of the houses, he wore no glamour. The pointed ears and foxtails- five of them- Kagome counted, were on full display.
Tears pricked her eyes, and she hugged him back fiercely.
His wife was pleasant, though a little eccentric for a racoon youkai. She'd made a 'welcome' banner and everything for Kagome's arrival.
Three young kits with dark circle markings around their eyes raced around the house- which had crayon drawings sprawled all over the walls at waist-height. Shippo and his wife seemed to have given up on house maintenance, but they were a happy family.
Blue eyes softened as Kagome sat with him in the relative privacy of his art studio. She was so pleased he'd found happiness. As they talked, she bent down- reaching into her bag for her phone to show him some pictures of her workplace- only for it to tip over.
A small bottle of pills rolled out, stopping by his foot.
Kagome paled. She glanced away from his questioning look as he handed them back to her. "Reiki suppression pills?" he asked.
"How'd you know?"
"I've got friends in Tokyo. You're not the only priestess who secretly dates demons," he shrugged, pinning her with a calculating look. "But, it's kind of a shame you feel the need to take them."
Kagome forced a smile, tucking them away, "yeah well- it's because I'm so big and strong," she joked. "I haven't met a demon in Tokyo who could withstand my aura if I really let it out. Taking these is easier. Gives demons the 'flavour' of dating a miko without actually getting burned. It just thins my powers a little."
Shippo nodded in acceptance and swiftly changed topics since it made her uncomfortable. He chattered on about his life, detailing the 500 year gap between when they'd seen each other last. Apparently, after Miroku and Sango had passed, he'd taken to spending more time with Sesshoumaru. When Inuyasha had died, he'd started living with the Daiyoukai permanently.
"You...did?"
He nodded, hands wrapped around his steaming mug of tea. A handmade bracelet clasped around his wrist, and the mug was half-melted, made from clay. Clearly they'd both been crafted by three well-meaning kids. "I guess we were gonna talk about him eventually," he smirked. "I promise not to be biased, okay? Sure, he saved my ass, but you're still my favourite."
Warmth flooded her heart, and Kagome giggled a little despite herself. "You're talking like we're your divorced parents or something," she mused, sobering. Taking a long breath, she stared at her own misshapen mug. "What happened?" she asked quietly. "Why didn't he create a pure-blooded heir?"
Shippo sighed, sweeping a hand through voluminous red hair. "He chased after you pretty much a second after you left through the well. Only he couldn't get through."
Her chest tightened, body stiffening.
"He's told me before though...that regretting what happened wouldn't have been enough, and maybe it was better he didn't stop you. He still felt the same at the time, deep down; that only a pure-blooded heir should take over the Western Lands to ensure he was survived by a long-living heir. He was gonna do it," Shippo muttered. "He was prepared to lay with an inuyoukai to produce an heir, but when the time came he just...couldn't. It frustrated him for a long time."
Kagome took a sip of her lukewarm tea, lips thinning. "He could've taken a mate. It didn't have to be some random woman."
"Heh, yeah but his inuyoukai instincts had already chosen a mate," Shippo winked at her. "And no matter how much he tried to force logic onto himself, his instincts refused to budge. You weren't dead, so in his mind, he couldn't move on. He's remained your captive all this time."
Her eyes widened, swallowing. "That sounds terrible!" she burst, frowning. "What the hell...I'd resent that. Why doesn't he hate me?"
"Hard to explain but...he could have moved on, Kagome," the kit sighed. "If he really wanted to. He's the one who lacked the desire to change how he felt about you. So, despite some relationships, Sesshoumaru has pretty much maintained his bachelor lifestyle."
Kagome stood from her seat, setting down her tea and distractedly looking at Shippo's art pieces, picking up a sketchbook and flipping through it.
Sharp green eyes searched her guarded features. "You're still in love with him, right?"
"Some habits are hard to kick," she said softly, pausing on one sketch. Her vision grew blurry.
Shippo rose and swept the shuddering miko into a hug before she could drop the sketch of Sango and Miroku. He held her for a long time, and they moved on to talking about their friends. About all the things they'd done and the happiness they'd shared.
"M-maybe I...left too quickly," Kagome mumbled, wiping at her wet cheeks.
"Nah, don't get that thought stuck in your head," Shippo rested a hand on her head, gently ruffling the dark strands. "You wanted distance between you and Sesshoumaru. It's not your fault the well shut."
"Why did..." swallowing thickly, she looked up at him, oddly feeling like a child in comparison to his steady, easy-going presence. Like nothing in the world could shock or frighten the little kit anymore. "It took him 6 years to come talk to me, why is that?"
Shippo's smile turned slightly sad. "He wouldn't want me to tell you. In fact, he'd kill me for giving you this-" Shippo reached into his pocket and took out a vial.
Kagome understood what it was almost immediately, accepting the glamour with a perplexed look.
He then scribbled down the name of a random park in Tokyo she hadn't visited before, handing it over with a smirk. "Put that glamour on and visit this park on either Tuesday or Thursday, weather permitting. You'll find him near the duck pond."
She arched a brow, eyeing the vial. "He'll recognise me, even with a glamour on."
"Nah, that's my own creation- and I'm pretty darn brilliant at magic now!" he puffed out his chest, tilting his chin up in a very Sesshoumaru-like manner. Shippo then smiled warmly, taking the sketchbook and tearing out a page. "He's not being honest with you, but it's not outta nefarious purposes. You'll see," he reassured her. "He's changed. Even if he's still an asshole."
Kagome accepted the page, freezing. Her fingers stiffened, emotion clogging her throat at all the implications that came with the picture. She couldn't help but cry again in the safety of Shippo's arms- promptly bursting into tears while on the train ride home too.
Shippo's sketch remained clutched in her hands.
The weight of so much wasted time rested upon her heavily, making the woman bend low in her seat, ignoring the stares of other passengers and letting out several years of loneliness and disappointment. How her skin had ached and burned up with a fever of remembrance- straining for a demon lord to take her wrists and kiss her palms like he once had.
---
Overcast skies blocked out the sunshine that Tuesday, so she wondered if he'd show. The glamour had made her look like a 40-year old, a few grey streaks in her magically short hair. Brown eyes stared back at her instead of blue. She smelled like lavender and home cooking. Kagome sat upon a bench and pretended to read beside the duck pond. An available bench sat further away, nearer to the empty play park.
It was there that a dark-haired man eventually sat, five children having followed him. A lanky teen took a seat next to him, his hair short and grey- eyes milky white with blindness. Kagome squinted from behind her book, sensing he was a snake youkai. Two young hanyous of differing species immediately ran to the play park, squealing. One had concealed horns, the other hiding their leopard spots behind a glamour.
A human girl around the age of 11 carried a toddler to the edge of the duck pond, talking quietly with him and pointing to the ducks.
Kagome held back the hot sting of tears, forcing her gaze to the book in her hands and robotically turning a page.
"Shinto needs to get out of his room," the snake youkai was muttering sourly.
"There is little I can do. Did you wish for me to carry him kicking and screaming to the park with us?" Sesshoumaru snorted, elbows bent to rest on his knees.
Kagome glanced at him furtively from the corner of her eye.
Gone was the easy confidence he'd presented to her during their encounters- the impeccable dress-sense and untouchable air of a bachelor. He looked like a mess. Or rather, a single parent struggling to juggle too much at once. He wore a jacket that had seen better days, hair dishevelled and slight lines under his eyes.
"Maybe that would've been better," his adopted child was muttering, soon sighing and glancing to the side as Sesshoumaru toyed with his phone. "Do you even have her number?"
Sesshoumaru arched a brow, feigning ignorance. "Hm?"
"You know who I am referring to. Just ask for it from Uncle Shippo."
Dark lashes lowered, followed by a rich, silky chuckle that made Kagome's skin warm. "Such underhanded methods, Hiroji," he teased, "no wonder you're not popular with women."
Hazy eyes gazed in his general direction flatly, huffing. "Please refrain from trying to dodge the question. Have you actually asked this 'Kagome' woman out yet?"
"I invited her to coffee."
"Such a cheap date, Papa!" the human girl by the duck pond smiled, carrying her brother back to them. "Couldn't you have invited her ice-skating, or to a fancy restaurant?"
"Or to the park!" one of the Hanyous yelled from the swings.
Sesshoumaru cut his eyes to grey skies fondly, accepting the toddler from his daughter. "The location does not matter. Miss Higurashi is not easily swayed," he uttered, large hands toying with little boots. The toddler giggled, kicking his legs. "Initially, I wished to bury her with gifts, but she would merely see that as an attempt to 'buy' her. No, I sense only a display of humility and regret will soften her opinion of me, however that seems quite impossible."
"Hm? Why's that?" his daughter asked.
"Because I do not wish to use you all as an example of my having 'changed.' It would feel as though you are mere tools for my redemption," brown eyes slid away. "My mindset altered gradually over the centuries. No large thing triggered it. I know of no other way to prove myself other than introducing her to you."
Kagome could tell by the twitching of his fingers and the way he kept brushing them over his jaw absentmindedly that he was itching for a drag of his pipe. She'd wondered if he still occasionally smoked. He must've decided not to around his children.
"Sounds like heavy stuff," the girl hummed, patting his shoulder in consolation. "Can't you just say-" she cleared her throat, voice deepening into a poor imitation of Sesshoumaru's- "Miko, I've been falling in love with you since the first day we met. Fall into my arms~"
Deep brown eyes flattened, and he playfully shoved a hand into her face. "Things are not so easily fixed, Akiko."
"I see. Well, don't worry! If it doesn't work out, we can all go ice-skating instead!"
Sesshoumaru tsked, sinking back into his seat and allowing the toddler to snuggle up on his chest. "How dull. I'd much prefer to go on a date with a beautiful woman than babysit you brats."
Akiko only giggled and whined good-naturedly, calling him a 'meanie' before running off to join the Hanyous on the swings.
Left in silence, the Daiyoukai's brows knitted together, thoughts clearly far away.
Mild concern softened Hiroji's boyish features. "You should try talking to her again," he said quietly, so faintly Kagome could barely hear it.
"Hn, and why is that?"
Shifting, the snake demon glanced sightlessly in Kagome's direction- causing her blood to freeze in her veins. "I suspect she may be more receptive to speaking with you now, that is all. Call it a hunch."
Stiff shoulders slowly relaxed upon realising he wasn't going to expose her. After a few minutes, Kagome rose from her spot and slipped away from the park.
In the comfort of her own apartment, Kagome gazed at the sketch Shippo had given her; Sesshoumaru sleeping without a glamour obscuring his exotic features. Resting on mokomoko, his knees, and the crook of his arm were children, different from the ones at the park, but just as mixed in species.
It implied he'd been adopting them for centuries. What had started with Rin all those years ago- the accidental adoption of his first child, had become a long-enduring habit. And it also gave Kagome the stupid, insidious idea that maybe he wanted hanyou children now. Maybe he wanted them with her.
And that was too dangerous a thought to linger on if she was incorrect.

gah i want to scream - the hair demoness coincidentally* looks like Karasu's "ex" in my imaginary world. She was a half succubus, her dad was an incubus, and half bat youkai from her mum. She was one of his prostitutes he visited and later killed from a brothel, being a "Romantic John" (those that believe he's in a relationship with the prostitute ... much like he talks like how he's in a relationship with Kurama, particularly in the Japanese version, but Karasu did say that while their short-term relationship and sex was great, she "wasn't his type" and he "couldn't stand her" ... you know, until he realised how insecure I was from my inferiority complex, and used that experience against me later as revenge and psychological warfare for having an affair again with my ex-boyfriend Touya when Karasu was away, which I deeply regret and have repented for; he's since apologised saying all he said was "revenge, pure revenge", but it still hurts me six years later. Anyways, he said the sex exerted him to the point he thought he was having a heart attack, but in retrospect said was a panic attack, and killed her in response for leaving him for what he thought was dead. He is proud of having f*cked a succubus (albeit a half one) otherwise, though.)
(* or possibly from my subconscious, as I watched Inu-Yasha and both demons/youkai are associated with hair, but i'm sure Karasu's "ex's" image is from Lisa's reincarnation in Silent Hill, as I identify with Lisa, and thought I'm gonna end up being punished like Lisa when I die ... sigh. :<
So I guess she's like part of my "shadow" if you go by Jungian psychology (or a "shadow self" and/or "soul fragment" like in a modern version of shamanism which I used to be interested in ... who knows. >.< I really hate her in any case. What's hilarious is I sometimes go by Yuri after my main cosplay and kindred spirit Yuri Plisetsky and Yura is one of his fandom nicknames, so I had considered it my nickname too, weird. =O~o=)

The Ronin - Chapter 5
Eep. I know it’s been a while. And you know when I said this was definitely going to be the last chapter? Well, uh, there’s one more to go. Which is 90% done and that I should be posting tomorrow. Please don’t hate me when you get to the end of the chapter - kthxbye!
Tumblr media
“But I wanna go too!” Shippou whined, rubbing his eyes tiredly as they stood in the cool morning air in front of Kaede’s hut. “I promise I won’t get in the way!”
The sun had just peeked over the horizon, making Shippou’s fluffy hair appear even more flame coloured than usual. Kagome bent down to pick him up and squeezed him tight, ruffling his fringe affectionately.
“Not this time Shippou. We should be back tomorrow at the latest.”
It had been Inuyasha’s decision that the kit stay behind, and Kagome agreed with it, but not for entirely the same reasons. Inuyasha was just concerned that Shippou might get himself into trouble, and he would be one more thing to worry about when they were heading into an uncertain situation. Kagome just didn’t want him to know the whole story of how she’d been injured.
Sango knew what had happened, and she was pretty sure that Miroku had some idea, based on his concerned glances towards her whenever he thought she wasn’t looking, and the way he had completely dialed back his usual flirty manner with both herself and Sango. But Shippou didn’t. She knew he was a lot more worldly than a human eight year old, but she didn’t want to see the look in his eyes if either the ronin or that woman said something. She just couldn’t bear it.
“Everything’s gonna be okay, right Kagome?”said Shippou in a small voice, nuzzling into her hand. She hoisted a smile onto her face, not wanting him to worry in their absence.
“I’m sure it will be Shippou”, she soothed, quick to reassure him, squeezing him in a hug which was just as much for her as it was for him. “Do you know what would be really helpful? We’ll probably be really hungry when we get back, and I know you’ve been practicing your hunting skills with the village boys. Do you think you could catch some fish or rabbits for a stew to help out Kaede?”
He stared at her uncertainly for a moment, then nodded.
“Sure, I can do that.”
Kagome glanced at Kaede, and the old miko nodded, confirming that she would do her best to keep the kit out of trouble.
“Travel safely, all of ye”, Kaede said, looking warmly at them. Kirara jumped down from Sango’s shoulder and transformed into her larger nekomata form, allowing Sango and Miroku to climb onto her back. Kagome took a deep cleansing breath of the crisp morning air, then climbed onto Inuyasha’s back as he bent down a little.
“Alright, I’m ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s go.”
The sun was well above the horizon when they began to approach the forest not far from their destination. The mist had all burnt away an hour or so ago, although the air was still chilled. Miroku and Sango flew above on Kirara and Kagome snuggled in tightly on Inuyasha’s back, thankful for his warmth. She yawned, wishing she’d managed to get more sleep. She’d been too keyed up to doze off, her mind racing. So much to think about. And not only about their mission. About her and Inuyasha.
She replayed their conversation at the hot spring over and over in her head. She’d told him she loved him. And even though he didn’t say the words back, everything in his expression, his body language, his tenderness told her he felt the same. In the months since Kikyou’s passing, he’d begun to return those little touches and looks in response to her own, as if he were now free to do so. Words had always seemed to trip Inuyasha up, but when you paid attention to what he wasn’t saying, he could speak so eloquently.
When she’d finally managed to get to sleep, she’d been woken by a nightmare. And he’d been there almost before she’d been able to get her eyes open, picking her up, still cocooned in her sleeping bag, and carrying her back over to his usual position against the wall of Kaede’s hut. She’d spent the rest of the night cradled against his chest, that soothing rumble of his allowing her to get back to sleep for a few hours at least.
The weight of her father’s backpack on her shoulders was comforting. He had often walked mountain trails with friends, and his bag was just as he’d left it. For the first time in a while, she felt closer to him, almost like he was hugging her close. She had felt almost naked without her bow and quiver, but having her father’s backpack helped a little. Kaede had offered hers, but Kagome worried that might leave the village defenseless against a random youkai attack.
“Don’t do anythin’ stupid today Kagome, do ya hear me?” Inyuasha rumbled, his voice barely affected by the ground eating pace he’d been setting. They were getting closer now, the large trees of the forest surrounding the village slowing Inuyasha’s pace and forcing Kirara to fly above with Sango and Miroku.
“Shouldn’t I be saying that to you?” she replied in a teasing tone.
“I mean it wench! I got that feeling in my gut and it ain’t good.”
Kagome sobered immediately. They’d all grown to trust Inuyasha’s ‘feelings’ – he seemed to have an innate sense of when trouble was headed their way; it was probably what had kept him alive so long.
She leaned forward and dropped a light kiss on the side of his neck, sniggering a little as Inuyasha almost missed a step.
“I’ll be careful, but that goes for you too, okay? Don’t underestimate him just because he’s human – we don’t know very much about how many people he’s got working for him. Most of the villagers I saw seemed terrified, but he wouldn’t have so much power over them if he were working alone. He obviously has help.”
Her thoughts drifted to that woman, her expression ice-cold as she’d slapped her, demanding submission, and the probing feel of her fingers as she was held down, the first time anyone else had ever touched her there. She couldn’t help but shiver. She didn’t know what she feared more, the violence of the ronin or the emptiness of that woman’s expression, totally devoid of feeling, like she’d abandoned every ounce of empathy and compassion long before.
Inuyasha’s rumbling purr vibrated against her chest through his back, bringing her out of her thoughts.
“Don’t think about it Kagome”, he said quietly, his thumbs caressing the sides of her thighs.
“How did you know I..”
“Your heart’s beatin’ like a scared rabbit’s, your fingers are pinching my shoulders and you smell of fear” he said gently. He slowed his pace to a halt. “I ain’t gonna let anythin’ happen to you okay?”
Kagome sighed, loosening her grip, and she rested her forehead on his shoulder, sliding down off his back. “That doesn’t seem entirely fair you know”, she smiled, “you being able to work out how I’m feeling without me telling you.” He turned to hold her close, tucking her head under his chin to rub his cheek against her hair.
“Well, I don’t think it’s fair that you smell so damn good. It’s distracting, but you don’t see me holdin’ that against you now, do you?” he replied.
Kagome snorted, not being able to help the blush that tinted her cheeks. This was obviously Inuyasha’s version of flirting.
“Well, I guess we’re even then, because…” Her reply was cut short as Inuyasha suddenly grabbed her around the waist and juked to the right, an arrow passing by his shoulder.
He shoved her behind him snarling, his ears twitching and nose working to find out where their attacker was. He could smell a few men in the area, but it was hard to pinpoint their exact location in the trees above. They watched Kirara swoop down, and there was a startled yelp from a branch not too far away. The nekomata dropped an older man at Inuyasha’s feet, purring at Sango’s praise as she scratched the feline behind her pointed ears.
“Please, don’t kill me, I missed on purpose. I didn’t want to attack you!” The old man sunk to his knees, his bow clattering to the ground. “None of us want this but he has all of them, women and children, locked up in the head man’s house. He’s threatened to burn them alive if we don’t bring you back. Please, have mercy!”
Miroku and Sango approached with Kirara riding on Sango’s shoulder in her tiny kitten form as Kagome turned her horrified gaze to Inuyasha.
“Still want me to go easy on this asshole when we get there Kagome?” he snarled. The man shrunk back a little at the sound of Inuyasha’s snarl, and Kagome squatted down to the older man’s level.
“Be at ease”, she said gently. “We came back to offer our help.” The older man gazed into her smiling face, the bruising still vibrant against her naturally pale skin.
‘Thank the Kami”, he breathed. “They must have brought you to us. Nothing has gone right in our village since we took in this man. Truly you are heaven sent.” He dropped his forehead to the ground, which had Kagome flushing furiously in embarrassment.
“Please, don’t” she murmured, waving her hands in front of her. “It’s just the right thing to do. I could just see how frightened everyone was.”
Miroku stepped forward. “Perhaps you could explain what has been happening in your village, so we know how best to proceed?” he asked.
The man sighed, still looking uncertainly at Inuyasha’s angry expression, then sat up. The three humans sat down near him to listen, Inuyasha choosing to remain standing. Kirara dozed off in Sango’s lap.
“My name is Kenta. Last year, just before the first snow, a man came out of the forest. My wife Haruna found him laying near the stream when she went to do the washing. He was wandering in his wits – he had a head wound that was healing badly and infected. She took pity on him and brought him into our home.
It was clear to me that he was a samurai; he wore silk, and had two swords and armour. But the insignia on his equipment was not that of this land’s daimyo, and we had no idea of how far he had travelled with his injury. The village council decided we should help him. We did not think he would survive, truly there was a night where his fever raged so badly we began making preparations for his burial.
But then the fever passed and he began to regain strength. My wife nursed him back to health. He was a man of few words, but he told us his name was Eto Shinpei, that he was a samurai of a lord far to the north. He said there had been a skirmish with no survivors other than himself - he had been injured and left for dead, and then lost his way. We expected that he would leave to rejoin his lord as soon as he was able. But he made no move to leave the village. Perhaps that should have alerted us as to what was to come.”
The man hung his head and sighed. “I am not sure where he got the money from, but he moved out of our home as soon as he was able and took a room at the local inn. He began inviting men to his room, handing out sake like it was water, drawing followers to his side. He said he would train them before returning to his lord, in thanks for his rescue. Some believed it was a good thing, that he would be able to protect us from the bandits that had roamed the area the previous year, but others were not so sure.
It became apparent soon enough what sort of man he was. Previously our village had been quiet and peaceful, but he began recruiting outsiders, men with an evil reputation. Fights began to break out, and it was not safe for our women to be out after dark. One of the younger village lads, who had initially joined eager to be part of the militia and learn the skills to defend his home, overheard a conversation and went to warn the headman. He had learned that Eto was planning to set himself up in a position of power in the area, and that he planned on never leaving.”
Miroku interrupted. “Could you not have sent someone to alert your lord of this man’s transgressions? Surely he would want to defend such an attack on his land and people?”
Kenta shook his head. “I am a member of our village council. Our daimyo has long been focused on major conflicts to the east, and allows his villages to self govern, as long as we supply him with his dues at tax time. It seems Eto had figured this out, and decided to take a chance to elevate himself. It is clear to me now that he had disgraced himself in some fashion and been exiled, had become a ronin. We may never truly know what happened.”
Miroku nodded. “My apologies for the interruption, please continue.”
“The headman invited Eto to his home, wanting to get to the bottom of things. Before we knew it, Eto had slaughtered the head man and his sons. The boy who had warned the head man was also hunted down and killed by Eto’s men. The women in the head man’s family were kept in the compound, no one has seen them, even though we have tried to approach. Anyone who tried to stand up to Eto was beaten, with threats made against their family.”
His fists clenched tightly. “The members of the council met in secret, and we decided to oust this man and the outsiders he brought into our village. There was a skirmish, but not everyone has weapons. My sons…” his voice caught, and he took a deep breath before continuing. “My family are confident using archery, but we are a farming village – many men had only their farm tools. It was over quickly. Eldest sons from any family that had participated were executed.”
He looked up at Kagome’s anguished gasp, his gaze bleak. “My eldest son. My Daitaro. He was one of the men killed. Nine men in all. All of them good, strong boys, who did not deserve such a fate. My daughter-in-law a young widow, with two even younger mouths to feed. So much pain and suffering as a reward for saving this man. I wish my wife had never found him.” His head bowed lower, his fists clenching on his knees.
“You said he had the women and children?” Miroku prompted. He sighed and nodded.
“All the women and children are there in the head man’s compound where Eto has taken up residence – he and his men ambushed our homes and took them by force during the night. My wife, my daughters-in-law, my grandchildren. Eto was raving, demanding that he would not allow you to escape, not at any cost. I fear the head wound he received has made him unstable, although I do not know for sure, not knowing what he was like previously. But he is a violent, unscrupulous man, who has decided his word is law. We were told that we needed to find you and bring you back, or they would be burned.”
“Even though your Lord is too far away to assist you, could you not request help from a nearby village?” asked Sango. The old man shook his head.
“He has a foothold there too. No one has been able to get far enough away to ask for help, without Eto’s men hunting us down.”
“Don’t worry”, Inuyasha snarled, “it will be my pleasure to help you clean up the filth in this village.” His voice had taken on a deeper tone, and Kagome could feel his youki pulsing. She stood, standing close by and he wrapped his hand around Tessaiga while the other drew her back against his chest. She rubbed the fist clenched around Tessaiga’s hilt soothingly.
“If he has the village men out looking for us, where are his men?” asked Kagome.
“Most are out here in the forest, and some are there guarding the compound, at least five. I’m not exactly sure how many there are,” said the old man apologetically, gazing at Kagome and Inuyasha in wonderment.
Sango nodded. “It sounds like we need to split up. Miroku and I haven’t been seen previously. We could head through the forest and gradually alert the village men and take out the outsiders, and then work our way back to the village. Inuyasha and Kagome can head to the compound so Kagome can get the women to safety while Inuyasha deals with the rest. We just need to figure out how to assure the village men that we are on their side.”
The man let out a low warbling whistle, that sounded similar to one of the many small birds that lived in the Japanese countryside. A tall burly man carrying his own bow dropped out of a tree nearby and jogged over to them. Inuyasha gave a rumbling growl, and Kagome squeezed his arm. He huffed and rolled his eyes, but ceased the growling.
“Did you hear everything Chojiro?” the old man asked.
“Yes Otousan – I will help the monk and the taijiya alert the men loyal to the village, and then we will double back to oust the outsiders”, he said, bowing low to Miroku and Sango.
“What about us?” asked Kagome. “What if we pretend that you caught us – wouldn’t that get us straight into the compound? Then we could easily capture Eto and…”
“No.”
“But Inuyasha, it would…”
“I said no Kagome. I will find a way to get you inside to help the trapped women and children and then guard your escape. You will not be getting within inches of this fucker, do you hear me?” She looked up at his face, and was a little dismayed to see the pale lavender of his youkai markings on his cheekbones, so faint that if someone was not familiar with his usual appearance they would not notice them. She sighed, then nodded her agreement.
“Alright then, let’s go.”
The walked together with the old man through the forest. Occasionally they would hear a low whistle, which Kenta would reply to, and a villager would appear out of the trees approaching cautiously. Kenta would explain the situation, sending them off to find Miroku and Sango. He led them around the periphery of the village, staying out of sight under the shadow of the trees, until they reached the back of the headman’s compound which backed onto the river.
“We’ll take it from here”, Inuyasha grunted. The old man looked at him beseechingly, and he softened his expression. “Don’t worry old man, we’ll get them all out.” Kenta bowed, then disappeared off through the trees.
“I still got that bad feeling Kagome, so don’t do anythin’ ridiculous, okay?” whispered Inuyasha. She smiled at him, reaching up to place her palms on his cheeks then drawing him down for a soft kiss.
“I’ll be good.”
She moved to pull back, but his mouth followed hers, his kiss insistent. He backed her up until they were underneath the cover of the trees again, his clawed fingers cupping the back of her head, his tongue lapping at her lower lip, taking away the faint swelling that remained from her cuts, then nibbling gently with his teeth.
“I mean it Kagome”, he groaned, his mouth dropping to press against the soft skin underneath her ear, taking in deep breaths of her scent. “I’m only just hangin’ on here. I need you safe, and I won’t be able to hold back if he touches you again.”
“Inuyasha, please”, she whined softly as he nibbled at her throat, her hands clutching at his collars as her head fell back against the rough bark of the tree. The rumbling in his chest increased at the sound of her voice, and his tongue lapped at the soft column of her neck. How could him touching her there feel so good? It was just her neck. What would it feel like when they finally ventured into touching other places? She wanted nothing more than to push herself up against him, to kiss him, to explore these new feelings. But now was not the time. “I don’t want to stop this, I really don’t, but we need to go.”
“Just gimme one more minute. I need this.” He eased the collar of her shirt to one side, biting down gently on the corded muscle between her neck and shoulder, fangs pressing gently. This obviously meant something to him, but what? She let her head fall to the side, letting him do what he wanted, and the rumbling purr increased.”
“My Kagome.” Inuyasha released his hold on her, standing up straight, and cradled her face in his hands. “Saiai, please be safe.” He kissed her one last time, his focused gaze burning amber, then turned to squat down in front of her so that she could climb on his back.
He leapt up to the top of the nearest tree, then went from rooftop to rooftop, landing almost soundlessly on light feet, until they were on the roof of the main building in the compound. No one looked up.
“Idiots. There’s no one guarding the back”, Inuyasha snorted softly.
“Maybe because they don’t think anyone will be able to get across the river?” suggested Kagome, keeping her voice to a low whisper.
“Feh. There’s bound to be guards in the room where they’re holding them, so I want you to let me handle it, okay?” Kagome nodded, squeezing his shoulder to show her agreement.
Inuyasha leaped down from the roof, landing almost silently in a small landscaped garden near a covered walkway. Kagome slid off his back, standing up to take in their surroundings. Almost immediately there was the sound of running footsteps, and Inuyasha spun to backhand the man moving to attack them so hard that he flew back against the wall with a crash, his unconscious form crumpling on to the ground.
“Oops?” he chuckled as Kagome glared at him. Another guard appeared, and Inuyasha punched him too. He toppled like a felled tree, and Inuyasha stepped over him to guide her over to the covered walkway.
“A little overkill, don’t you think?” she muttered, as they walked quietly, her attention focused ahead of them.
“Nope.”
She rolled her eyes, poking him in the ribs and ignoring his almost silent snigger. At least punching a few people had improved his temper a little.
“Which way?” she asked, when they came to the end of the path. He placed his hand on the small of her back, guiding her to the left.
“I can hear little kids cryin’ over this way.”
Her heart in her mouth, Kagome walked with him, doing her best to walk as silently as possible. She wished she had her bow – that always made her feel braver. She knew she would never be a physical close range fighter like Sango, but at least with her bow she could protect people she cared about, and fight back. When they reached the corner, Inuyasha motioned for her to stop, then disappeared. There were a couple of thumps, and then he reappeared, his smile wide, holding up two things she recognised instantly.
‘Look what I just found.”
Kagome almost squealed out loud, covering her mouth to stop the sound coming out. “My bow! Where did you find it?”
“One of the goons at the door had it. Don’t look like he used it yet.”
With a beaming smile Kagome took her quiver from him and shrugged it over her shoulder, then grabbed her bow and knocked an arrow in readiness.
“Better?” he asked, a small crooked smile lifting one corner of his mouth.
“Much”, she agreed, taking a deep breath.
They stepped over the two unconscious men, and Inuyasha opened the door. A burly man with a sword swung at him from the side, but Inuyasha had him disarmed and unconscious in moments. Kagome breathed a sigh of relief, and placed her arrow back in her quiver. She padded quickly over to the group of huddled women and crying children, who were looking at Inuyasha in alarm.
“Is there a Haruna here?” she asked quietly. An older woman looked up, surprised to hear her name mentioned. Kagome smiled. “Kenta sent us. He and your son, Cho… Chojiro was it?” The woman nodded, tears coming to her eyes as she heard the names of her husband and son. “He and Chojiro are working with friends of ours to disarm the outsiders. If you come with me, Inuyasha and I will guard your escape. We need to take you a little way from the village, until it is all safe again. Is there a hill or a clearing nearby that would be a good place?”
Another woman spoke, cuddling a baby tightly to her, while a toddler huddled into her lap. “I know of a place. There is a clearing not too far from the river, where Daitaro…”, her voice cracked a little, and then she continued, “where Daitaro used to practice his archery.” The arm of the older woman went around her shoulders, and they shared a look, both blinking back sudden tears.
“C’mon, we gotta move, this ain’t no picnic”, muttered Inuyasha. The group of women rose cautiously, gathering their children and making shushing noises when the children began asking questions. Kagome scooped up the toddler of the woman who spoke, so that she only had her baby to carry, and Inuyasha stooped down to pick up two little boys, who looked at him with wide eyes and then back at their mother. She hovered anxiously for a moment, then nodded, her arms already full of two smaller children. He led them out into the vegetable garden at the back of the compound, halting them for a moment to sniff the breeze, then gesturing them to follow along the river bank. The little girl Kagome was carrying tugged on her shirt.
“Why does he have puppy ears?” she whispered around the thumb in her mouth. Kagome looked down at the small child in her arms. She guessed she was three or four at the most, her dark eyes round with wonder as she gazed at Inuyasha's ears, hair pulled back in small pig tails, and chubby pink cheeks streaked with dried tears. Kagome glanced up at Inuyasha too and almost giggled when the ears in question swiveled back towards them, obviously listening.
“They help him hear better”, she whispered back with a smile, shifting the toddler onto her hip.
“Will he hear the bad men that killed Papa?” A faint rumble was heard coming from the hanyou in front of her, and Kagome swallowed before answering, her throat constricting.
“Yes. That’s why we’re here to help.”
“Good.” The small child snuggled in tightly against her, her eyes leaving Inuyasha to focus on the woman walking beside Kagome. “Mama?”, she asked sleepily.
“I’m here Akiko”, the woman said quietly. She hesitated for a moment, then spoke to Kagome. “I am sorry I could not help you the day he brought you to the village.” Kagome’s eyebrows furrowed in puzzlement, and the woman continued. “Eto was dragging you along the street. You looked at me and asked for help and I turned my back on you.” She bit her lip. "I am ashamed", she whispered.
Kagome suddenly remembered the terrified woman standing in front of her home with a child, who ducked behind the door covering.
“It’s alright,” she replied, giving the woman a small smile. “There is no need for shame. You are a mother – your children should always come first.”
“Thank you for understanding”, she whispered. “If Daitaro had been there, maybe… maybe…” She closed her eyes, pressing her lips tightly together, unable to stop her bottom lip trembling.
Kagome’s breath caught in her throat. She had been going to say ‘everything will be okay’, but for this family, it wouldn’t be. Things would never go back to the way they had before. She took another deep breath.
“When my father was killed, my mother was sad for a very long time”, she began hesitantly, keeping her voice to a whisper. “But Mama said talking about him helped. Talking about all the silly things he did and said, all the things we loved about him, kept him alive in here”, she said, gesturing towards her heart. “I only have a few clear memories of my father, because I wasn’t much older than Akiko, but those precious memories I do have survived because even though Papa was gone, we still talked about him all the time.”
Kagome focused her gaze on Inuyasha’s strong back and the pointed white ears twitching on his head, trying to give the woman as much privacy as she could. Even now they were under the shadows of the trees as they approached the clearing, the tears trickling down the woman’s face were clearly visible. “I am so sorry this has happened to your family”, she said, her voice determined, “but we will do our best to make things as right as we can.”
They entered the clearing, and the women sat down, gathering in a circle with their children in the centre. Inuyasha was pacing nervously and she moved towards him.
“Is everything okay?” she asked. She almost giggled when he sneezed violently, but then she caught his expression. “What’s wrong?”
“I can smell somethin’ – it ain’t a smell I know, but I don't like it. We need to be ready.” Kagome was about to put Akiko down and let her toddle back over to her mother, when Inuyasha suddenly snarled.
“Kagome, get back, he’s here!” He pushed her backwards, away from him, and she only just managed to keep her footing with the added weight of Akiko in her arms.
A small clay pot flew through the air, smashing in front of Inuyasha, and dark yellow smoke billowed out, the stench making him stagger back.
Kagome coughed, doing her best to tuck Akiko’s face into her chest closely to shield her. “Everyone cover their face and try not to breathe in the smoke! If you have a scarf, wrap it around your child’s mouth and nose!”
Inuyasha dropped to the ground, retching suddenly, and with horror, Kagome realised that whatever had been thrown at them was probably targeted to him. Sango carried powdered youkai poisons which she burned to immobilise youkai. Many only stunned but a few were deadly - what had been thrown?
She squinted into the smoke, coughing as it irritated her own throat. Putting Akiko down so she could knock an arrow, she aimed desperately from one point to another, trying to find a target, but it was impossible. She could hear the frightened wails of small children behind her, feel the frightened grip that Akiko had on her leg. Her mother was calling to her frantically, but it appeared the small child was too frightened to move. Inuyasha retched again and Kagome knew they needed to end this fast, so they could find Sango and hopefully administer an antidote.
“Show yourself, you coward!” she screamed, her bowstring pulled taut and ready for release, her weeping eyes focused on the direction of where the clay pot had come from. There was a startled scream from Akiko, and the small child was wrenched away from Kagome’s side making her stagger.
The wind shifted, blowing some of the smoke away, and Kagome blinked in terror. He was there, the ronin, and he had Akiko, one arm wrapped around her waist, and the other holding a short tanto blade against the girl’s neck, the cold metal glinting in the sunlight.
“I’ll cut her throat”, he snarled, shaking the small girl like a kitten as she struggled to get free. At the touch of cold metal on her neck the child froze, her wide eyed stare frozen on Kagome’s face. Kagome could hear the stifled wail of a woman behind her, and the little girl whimpered, slow tears streaking down her face.
“Mama.”
The word was faint, like a whispered prayer, hardly audible over the coughing growl of Inuyasha as he struggled to clear the putrid smelling smoke from his lungs. If her nose and eyes were streaming, he must be in agony. She hoped with all her might that the others might have seen the sudden plume of smoke and would come to investigate. As far as she knew, Sango, Miroku and Kirara were still leading the villagers in an attack against the ronin's mercenaries. Kagome focused on the man and child in front of her, blocking out the sound of Inuyasha’s coughing snarls and the frightened women and children behind her.
She slid her quiver slowly off her shoulder, freezing as the burly man pressed the short blade closer to the child’s neck. A thin rivulet of blood trickled down her pale throat, and she heard the mother moan behind her.
“A child makes a very poor hostage”, Kagome said, trying to keep her voice steady.
“You offering to take her place woman?” he leered. “You very rudely left before we could start anything fun. You coming back for more?”
Kagome’s back stiffened as she heard the frenzied growling from behind her. Inuyasha was obviously trying to stagger to his feet, but then fell again, hard. She had no idea what it was that had been thrown at him, whether it was meant to poison him or just slow him down. She wanted more than anything to turn to him, make sure he was okay. But a child’s life was at stake here. Maybe if she could keep Eto talking…
“What if I did agree to go with you. Would you let the child go? You know she’ll only slow you down.”
She dropped her bow on the ground, and stepped forward, holding her hands up in a gesture of surrender. Her heart was beating so fast she could practically feel it like a hard ball of muscle bouncing in her chest. The little girl blinked at her with wide frightened eyes; she’d stopped moving as if knowing it was useless to fight against the strong grip that held her. Kagome strengthened her resolve. This was the right thing to do. She could not stand by and see a child injured when she could do something about it.
“I promise, I’ll let you take me without a fight. Just let the girl go.”
In a movement that was so fast she hardly had time to gasp, the girl was thrown aside, and the ronin had hold of her, one fist wrapped around her hair, extending her neck so that her face tilted upwards, the other pressing his tanto close to her throat. She could feel the cool sting of the metal against her skin and she froze.
“See that dog? You’ve lost.” The ronin yanked back on her hair so her face was tilted skyward, and she had to struggle to keep Inuyasha in view. “My men are scattered. I will have start over again at another village. You might have destroyed everything I’ve worked for, but you’re going to be the loser. Because I’m going to take this girl of yours and ruin her beyond recognition. That poison should paralyze you for an hour or so, and my men will keep the other two busy while I make my escape. By the time you find her, there’s not going to be much left.”
Kagome’s eyes widened when she saw the pure fury on Inuyasha’s face. He tried to stand, and dropped again, his claws scrabbling convulsively in the earth. Drool dripped from his mouth as he snarled out her name.
“Inu…”, she whispered. “I’m sorry.”
She hissed as the ronin yanked on her hair again. “Not as sorry as you’re gonna be, bitch. Time to leave - you and I are going to get much better acquainted”.
The ronin laughed as he backed them into the trees, away from the clearing. Tears slipped down Kagome’s face as she watched as Inuyasha kept struggling to stand, his frenzied howling of her name growing louder. She tried her best to keep her eyes on him, wanting to convey to him her sorrow that she had been unable to follow his plea that she keep herself safe. The ronin sheathed his blade, then wrapped his fist around her wrist, dragging her off into the shadow of the trees.

Inuyasha OCs
Sesshomaru x Kagura kids
Total: 7 children
Got the courage from @quennie93
1. Megumi
Age: 24
Gender: Female
The eldest child and daughter of the entire royal Tashio family of the Western Land. Basically, daddy little girl but someone else took the throne. She is very independent and strong-willed despite being very stubborn like her parents. Inherited her mother’s black hair and confident attitude. Though she has inherited her father golden eyes and his daiyoukai powers in which she masters it at an age. Even though she may be the oldest for entire siblings, she still like act a little kid sometimes. She is well trained with her swordsmanship just like her father and quite the expert with knife-wielding which self-taught by her own mother who passes it on to her. Overall Megumi is very protective of her siblings and her brothers especially Maru.
2. Rose
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Rose is the second daughter and child of the family whereas she seems very cold-hearted and distance. Though on the inside she nothing more than a big old teddy bear as she helps out with the nearby orphanage in the village. She cares for the orphan youkai and hanyou who parents either died or abandon them on the steps of the orphanages. Rose cherish each of the children's as if they were her own. While she was not visiting the orphanage, she would be teaching one of her younger brothers, Tatsuya the history of their early ancestors. Since he’s the heir of the royal heir. She and Tatsuya are extremely where they are each other best friends. Though Rose loves all her siblings equally and played no favorites.
3. Kanna and Iris
Age: 21
Gender: Females
Kanna and Iris are the first twins in the Taisho family whereas they pulled most pranks on their sisters and mother. Despite being twins, the two sisters are very different whereas Kanna is quite outgoing and sociable with other royal children from different lands. While Iris is quiet and very distance but she wasn’t shy at all. Nope, she just doesn’t see the whole point of socializing other princesses and princes that most of them are spoiled little snobs. That somewhat true and not true at all but Iris likes her quietness and alone time. Nevertheless, the two sisters always love to horrors pranks on Rose the most since she gets scared the easiest. Overall it gives off and good laughs and memories to cherish once they reach their adulthood. Not to mention they’re very overprotective of their brother.
4. Tatsuya
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Tatsuya is the fourth child of the Taisho family but the first son. On the day he was born, Sesshomaru was ecstatic and blessed to receive a son. Being the first son which lead Tatsuya to inherit the throne of the Western Land. Puts a lot of pressure on him but was willing to pass on the family tradition that is taught his parent and sister Rose. He and his older sister are extremely close where it seems whenever they get into argument...Tatsuya always the first one to apologize. Since being taught by his father to be a gentleman even though his father is a big old tsundere. He also one of the sons to inherit his mother wind sorceress powers. Being half wind demon and a daiyoukai, Tatsuya nearly resembles a male version of Kagura which told by many.  Even though he’s the heir of the Western Land, Tatsuya never brags about it since the entire kingdom was basically given to him on the day he was born. Sometimes he questions whether to be the Lord or not of his family land.
5. Kaze and Sesshomaru II (Maru)
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Kaze and Sesshomaru II are the second set of twins but also the youngest sons of the entire Taisho family. Both of them maybe twins are the two boys are fraternal twins. You see, Kaze always appear to resemble Naraku except for the demons marking inherited from his father. Many of the guards and some of the family intended to despite the eldest twin just for resembling the dead but also the most murderous demon that ever lived. Well, let’s just that his parents aren’t too thrilled of what some may say about their son. Well, Kaze doesn’t mind at all since he told parents that if yokais and other royal family judge him by his appearance alone then they’re not worthy of their times or anyone else's. Kaze doesn’t how he resemble Naraku since deep down in his heart that he is not him and never will be him. Since he is Kaze and will always be Kaze to his family and himself
Now to the youngest child and youngest son of the Taisho family. Sesshomaru II or more basically Maru as a short nickname. Everyone calls him by that nickname including his own father just so the young son doesn’t get confused. Surprising this young boy looks almost identical to his own father by both body features and facial recognition. Some of the guests that visit the royal often confuse the young boy as being his father.  Well, the one things that everyone knows about Maru is that he’s extremely innocent and very polite. Maru never cusses nor talk ill about anyone even those that disrespected him from face to face. The young son even made friends with Tatsuya long-term rivals but Maru is naturally obedience, patience, caring, kind-hearted, and a bit naive but. He is also the full definition of Daddy’s little boy. As a young infant Maru always looked up toward his father as a role model. He has a loving relationship with his father and also with his mother, whom both parents cherish Maru with their life.

Okay, I actually had to update the design a bit since there were things I didn't like about the original redesign, but I am ready to talk about this chick now.
So, Amano-Jaku, real name Reiko Maizono, is a wrestler/fighter under the wrestling Stable known as the War Flowers. That's not their actual name, but I vehemently refuse to use their full weeb-ass name on this hellsite. Martial Artist, Assistant Trainer, Medical Intern, and potential Harem-Haver, the gal's been through a lot since joining her wrestling association and things only get crazier as the days pass by. She's a heel wrestler and a counter specialist, often goading opponents into making sloppy attacks she can take advantage of. Her playful nature and in the ring, surprisingly decent mic work, and kind personality outside of the ring has made her a beloved figure within her company from both fans and fellow coworkers, even if at times she doesn't realize just how much weight her names actually holds within it.
That's the short synopsis of her character anyway. Like I said last time, I will not be going over the RP stuff to her character because that will take an actual hour to get through, among other reason. And with that out of the way, I'll be going over her design, the main idea for it, and what general goals of this redesign.
So here we go.
Main Concept
Okay, let's talk reaaaaaaal quick about Japanese mythology.
In a nutshell, the amanojaku youkai is a lower tier oni/ogre known for making mischief, playing pranks, tricking humans into committing acts of evil, and occasionally flaying the skin of humans and wearing them like a cosplay outfit.
Normal demon stuff, you know.
And this Amano-Jaku was going to play on that concept, being a fighter that tricked, lied, and played around her opponents while having a deadlier intent behind her childish antics. Her original version was a bit sillier in terms of intent, but she got more serious along the way. But like I said, not gonna' go too deep into RP stuff.
Tumblr media
In terms of design concept, I'd say the keywords were: Martial Artist, Oni, Mischievous, Childish, and Sensual. The main point to get across is that she's a loud, outspoken fighter that loves violence and causing trouble, at least as her wrestling persona. To that end she wears a gi to show off her martial artist aspect, an oni mask and kneepads for the oni aspect, has her hair up in horn-like pigtails, and wears no pants for the sensual aspect. The black and yellow color scheme is just something I personally find aesthetically pleasing, as I've said before.
Tumblr media
As for why her skin got progressively darker overtime...
Because I wanted her to have darker skin.
Canonically speaking, Amano's parents are Okinawa natives that eventually moved up north to the mainland before having Reiko due to personal reasons and set up a textile shop in the outskirts of Tokyo, which explains Amano's darker complexion.
Tumblr media
This was her original design. She was heavily based on an outfit worn by KLIN from the Gacha game Girls Frontline.
Tumblr media
Namely her Sanbagarasu alternate outfit. I just liked the really loud yellow and her overall wild expressions, and I had Amano play into that idea of a newbie getting super in over her head and flipping out over the results of her own actions. Like I said before, she got more serious over time and I had to tweak both her design and personality to fit that change.
I eventually settled on having her outfit be mostly black since frankly all that yellow on her hurt my eyes and I wanted to be able to stare at the character without feeling the need to sit in a dark room for five minutes to reset my eyes. And like I said in the past: black with yellow highlights will always grip me.
The Big Tweaks
Tumblr media
A lot of the tweaks came slowly as I figured out how I wanted to draw her. Amano was written to be someone in their late-teens/early twenties that wanted to be sexually appealing, but went about the most basic ways of doing it. In her case, that was showing a lot of skin and showing off her body, namely her legs and lower since they was the aspect of Amano that she was the most confident about and she figured constantly flashing the crowd with her bikini bottom was going to make her a hit. Again, her she had a very childish view on what was sexual and attractive, but I kept the idea of her consistently showing off her panties in future designs.
For the redesign/touchup I had two main goals:
Rework the design to show a little more skin without compromising her aesthetic.
Have a consist design for her pigtails that I'll like.
It was surprisingly easy to figure out that first one. I completely forgot about the handful of designs that had some characters wear their kimono with only one sleeve.
Tumblr media
And with that in mind, I decided to copy that to great effect.
The pigtail thing was just something I wanted to solidify. One the rare times I pay for commissions I tend to let the artist be creative with Amano's pigtails, namely because I didn't have a consistent idea for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tended to get some pretty interesting results. However, while I plan to continue letting artist have free reign there I still wanted a consistent design to look back to. There's nothing to really say in terms of the current pigtail design, I'm just happy I came up with something consistent. I'm simply say that unlike most of my original Amano designs I made her hair more visibly brown, as she only dyes her hair up to her pigtails when wrestling to help with the oni imagery. I noticed a lot of those I commission making her pigtails outright black and while I don't mind that I wanted to it a little clearer in my personal character sheet that her natural hair a very dark brown rather than black.
And... that's really it in terms of her design and my thought process around it. Feel free to ask me stuff if you wanna' know specifics or the lore behind the gal.
Tumblr media
Alright, finished it up. Tempted to blab about her, but I'm also super-hungry after all that drawing. So... dinner now, gush over OC later.

AN: For @sup-poki‘s youkai!au, another possible version of it featuring fox spirit!kaito. It’s gotten away from what it started out as but I gave it a shot, hope that’s okay!
Shinichi groaned when he thought about what his life had become: poisoned, pestered, and haunted by one of the most annoying spirits on the entire planet, surely. Creeping through an empty school building, sliding doors aside slowly in case something happened to jump out and attempted to give him more trouble than it was worth, all while trying to ignore Kaito’s form chattering behind him.
“Can you feel the anger here? It reminds me of that time you got mad about the vending machine during break,” Kaito continued, twirling his flute between his fingers and poking at Shinichi’s school bag slung over his shoulder.
“If you remind me, I’ll just get annoyed again.” Shinichi swatted at Kaito’s wandering fingers, wresting the crinkly snack package out of his grasp and stuffing it into his blazer’s pocket instead. The incorrigible youkai had been dogging him even more than normal lately, circling around him like a fly and sucking on sips of his patience until he was almost dry. It was one thing to distract him during class, but this was a serious case that he wasn’t taking at all seriously.
“Everyone else seemed to love it! Did you see that kid in 3-B’s stash afterwards? Now that’s what looting means!” Kaito’s delight was visible despite the mask hiding his features, his cloak flowing behind him as if carried by the wind of his glee. “Not whatever you were doing with that whole ‘stay back’ routine.”
“There was shattered glass all over the floor, and someone had to make sure no one got injured from the rush.” Pushing another door to the side, Shinichi stepped into the abandoned club room and set down his bag. Something was wrong, he couldn’t tell where the youkai was or if it was even moving. There was nothing to do but sit down quietly and concentrate, hopefully without any distractions although he knew that was unlikely as long as present company existed.
Kaito, true to form, took to prowling the corners of the room, knocking on the shelves of knick-knacks left over from the old cultural club and poking through boxes of faded tourism pamphlets, until Shinichi wanted to burst from the constant noise.
“Can you not be quiet for a single second? Is that part of your contract?”
“I’m investigating! That’s what you do as a detective, right? I’m doing what you humans do.” Leaning on a display full of daruma dolls, Kaito flicked a dusty paper ball towards Shinichi, who didn’t blink as it landed in his lap.
Sighing, Shinichi got up and lobbed the paper ball back at Kaito before throwing the snack after it. Kaito caught it with one hand, head tilted to the side as he studied the plastic like it was a vermin youkai he’d caught sneaking along the classroom’s drainpipe.
“This one was from the top shelf,” a short silence followed that revelation, “You raided just like everybody else!”
“I did not, it was left over after it got cleaned up. Now stop moving around, I can’t get a lock on it.” Shinichi closed his eyes, taking a step towards the door as the skin on the back of his neck prickled. Something was close, or perhaps moving away? He couldn’t tell, and it was more frustrating than the sound of Kaito munching through the crispy treats. After months, he’d thought he would have a better handle on how his ability worked but it still felt as wispy and ethereal as smoke, coiling itself around him and leaving him confused in the center of the dense fog.
“Can you tell where it is?” he asked finally, wondering if there was anything left of the snack for him after two minutes in Kaito’s clutches.
“Do you have a psychic sense for other humans spying on you? No. Well, the same goes for us. I don’t have a magic compass for youkai, that’s what you are in this partnership. I’m the charming fox who nobody can resist.”
Shinichi had to admit he couldn’t exactly refute that logic, considering he didn’t know how he could do what he could anyway. That didn’t mean he agreed with Kaito’s assessment of their unplanned collaboration but he was ready to leave and arguing would only make it take longer to get home. Kaito could get clingy when it came time to say goodbye, something Shinichi wondered about when Kaito wasn’t there to distract him with his inane tricks.
“Listen, I’ve got to—” He turned around just as the weak shadows by the window resolved into a bloated face that blocked out the light with its broad head and teeth as big as a hefty brick. It lunged at him before he could do more than stumble into the folding chair he’d been sitting on, the teeth snapping together with a force that sent him flying backwards as his vision blurred. Its maw opened wide again, dark tongue slithering over its sharp front incisors. A pressure on his chest, a lurch, a sound like keening.
Shinichi’s eyes cleared in time for him to see the daruma’s jaw clench, its eyes rolling like demented bowling balls in their sockets while it ground its prey between its rows of teeth. And what lay trapped in its mouth, molars crushing his arm and legs, was Kaito, face bare for the very first time and Shinichi’s first glimpse of his mouth was as another pained whimper escaped it. The fox mask lay in pieces on the floor, shattered by the force of the daruma’s bite and Shinichi was sickened to think that might have been what kept Kaito’s head from being pulverized immediately, and left him only with streaks of blood in his hair and down his neck, while the rest of his body looked like that of a rag doll’s or a chew toy’s, a comparison that Shinichi hated was the first to come to mind.
He scrambled to his feet, half-expecting to hear that familiar jingling laugh and a few spare notes from Kaito’s flute, but there was nothing but the sound of tearing flesh and a fox’s muted cry.

[An anonymous commission for a Touhou size story. It’s been forever and a day since I’ve done one of these, but I figured I’d take up the opportunity! tldr; Reimu flattens a cell tower because sure.]
_____________
"I mean… I guess it is kind of an eyesore." The ordinary magician shrugged, leaning back and snapping the edge off of another rice cracker between her teeth as she stared off from the shrine.
"Well, yeah… but more importantly, it's suspicious!" The Hakurei shrine maiden leapt to her feet, sweeping an arm out and pointing her gohei defiantly toward the massive metallic structure in the distance. It stood taller than even Gensokyo's most gargantuan oni (at least on most days), its tallest dolls (admittedly, a much higher bar than one would think, thanks to the concerted efforts of one particular dollmaker), and whatever that contraption the Moriya Shrine cooked up that one time was. The floorboards creaked as she frustratedly strode past the miniature bug cage 'house' set out on the floor, its diminutive denizen flinging the door open and startling back at the comparatively colossal FWUMP of a titanic tabi sock thundering down in front of her home.
"Hey, watch it! I thought we agreed my house was going back up on the table!" The purple-haired kobito shouted up, a surprisingly loud little force, but ignored with a shrug nonetheless as the 'massive' miko poured some more tea.
"So, what's got you all keyed up about it?" Marisa casually chimed in. "Yeah, it's a big weird tower, and around here, those tend to summon ancient evils or lightning or be some sort of other incident thing, so I get it. But this is a, uh… 'cell tower', right? Not gonna lie, I kinda checked out a few minutes into Sanae's explanation, but it's sorta like the yin-yang orb for you, right?"
Reimu let a moment pass in contemplation as she sat back at the shrine's edge in the sunlight, taking a sip of her tea. "Yeah, she was saying something about macrocells and picocells and Gees, but… It's a big obvious tower! That's pretty much always bad, especially when they're involved!"
"Lemme guess, even if they're serious, because it's the Moriya Shrine getting all the credit, it's bad for business~?" The magician snickered.
"I didn't say that! It's just… you see it's an incident waiting to happen, too, right? They're always making everything that much more of a pain!"
"Why don't you just go stomp on it, then? Isn't that a big clumsy giant's answer to everything?" The voice of the little princess pipes up from the floor again, and her face pales as the two 'titans' go silent and turn to look down to her from high above her tiny two-inch-tall frame. "...what? You heard me! You almost flattened me again this morning!"
Marisa chuckled to herself as she watched the gears turning in Reimu's mind. Of course.
'Of course!', thought Reimu. "...hey, that mallet's all charged, right?"
"Yep! Just finished up today, so finally I can grow big again for a while!"
"...can you grow me big instead?"
She startled back at this. "W-what!? Why would I do that!?" THWOOM, THWOOM, the miko's palms slam down on either side of her, enormous eyes staring down, like a wild animal cornering their prey… but with a glimmer of excitement. No, not just a glimmer; she seemed absolutely thrilled, with childlike glee.
"You've done it before, right? Just make me big again! I'll put your house wherever you want or whatever, just… make me a giant!"
Already thoroughly towered over, the massive magician didn't help matters for Shinmyoumaru by leaning in with a chuckle. "I don't think you've got much choice here."
_____________
"Growwwwwwwww big!"
"..."
"Pff."
"Make me bigger!"
"Um, tha-"
"Don't tell her yet."
"Make me giant!"
"Are we really just gonna watch her-"
"Oh, absolutely."
_______________
Some time later, when the Hakurei shrine maiden remembered the mallet was only usable by the kobito themselves and had begrudgingly, blushingly handed it back to its usual owner, she stood outside the shrine.
"Alright… this time for sure."
"Are you seriously ready…?"
"Yeah, I'm ready! Let's go, already!"
"Okay! I'd rather it be me, but… groowwwwwww big!"
The Miracle Mallet began to glow a glorious vibrant gold, its wielder locking her gaze on the woman she focused its power upon. Soon, the shrine maiden began to radiate those dazzling colors as well, and lifting herself off the ground in flight, stretched her arms out to embrace this. (Purely for dramatic effect, of course, but it's not like anyone could judge.) And sure enough, her body began to slowly expand…
A symphony ensued, for those near enough to hear it. Tough, resilient tabi socks slowly stretching to fit gradually growing feet, her toes and soon her heels back to touching the ground despite her high vantage point. The creaking and trembling of the earth beneath her feet to take on someone of supernaturally supreme size… The stretching of skin and fabric keeping up with her as the view below dwindled down and down and down…
THOOM. THOOM.
The shrine shook and rattled as the newfound giant stamped her colossal soles down on each side of it, her shadow blotting out the grounds below as the others stared up in awe from below. Shinmyoumaru gulped. Marisa simply let out a whistle of surprise, a dramatic undersell for, as she now noted from the soft white horizon before her, a best friend growing so huge that one toe eclipsed her entire body.
"This is even cooler than last time!" Her enormous voice roared throughout Gensokyo, those just below her hastily covering their ears as she looked around this world in awe. Sure, she usually saw it from this height, but not with her feet on the ground. "Back to business, though. I'll go stomp on that thing and go from there, I guess." She waved her hand in a casual goodbye as she thundered off towards the horizon, leaving her houseguests to simply watch as she did so.
"Have fun!"
"...what have I done."
__________
THOOM, THOOM. THOOM, THOOM.
Gensokyo shook and rumbled at every leviathan footfall of the massive miko; vast expanses of trees and flowers and wide open paths were unceremoniously pounded into deep, tabi-shaped craters. Villages trembled and shook, tengu flitting between the trees to try to cover what this strange seismic event may be before the Hakurei shrine maiden was inevitably called in to put a stop to it… Well, not this time. Fairies and youkai hurtled out of her path in astonishment and awe; as if she wasn't enough of a force of nature normally, being 200 meters tall made things a whole lot more obvious!
She'd saved these lands countless times, so for a bit, she didn't mind the sensation of it all going crunch under her heels, or the sounds of the ground cracking with each THWOOM of her soles down against Gensokyo's surface. Even the Underworld was shaking a little…
As she peers down, she notices a little green speck floating in her path; even from that high up, it's barely at her waist. "Out of my way."
"I already explained it to you! It's just transmitting RF signals!" The goddess-slash-shrine-maiden piped up, from the path of the lumbering behemoth. It didn't even slow her.
"Should've said that before you put it up. Still an unauthorized building, still knocking it down." In all honesty, she just really wanted to stomp on it at this point, but this'd be a suitable, if flimsy, excuse.
"But I did-!" Her protests are cut short as the giant bears down on her, continuing to walk straight in an unstoppable march, Sanae's view slowly filling with nothing but the mega miko's midriff. She turns to flee, flying as fast as she can, but those immense strides catch up almost instantly, being bowled into by the behemoth's belly, stuck up against it like a bug to a windshield (if far more unharmed). She watched on begrudgingly as the rampaging Reimu thundered towards the tower… it looked positively tiny in comparison.
Even as the humongous Hakurei stopped to stand before it, chuckling as it didn't even come up to her waist, Sanae found herself still stuck to the soft stomach of the giant woman, a strange sensation of comfort from the warm body heat of her…business rival? Fellow incident-solver? Something like that.
Reimu lifted her massive, giant foot, leaning it and much of her colossal weight against the cell tower.
Ggrrnnnnnnn….
Under that unfathomable mass, it begins to buckle and shear apart, the metal letting out a deafening shriek as the mighty mountain's socks softly smother it. Supports snap and spark, the massive monument collapsing in portions, a giddy chuckle escaping her as she wiggled her toes.
She raises her foot up high once more, over that crumpled heap…
THOOMMMMmmmmm….
...and smashes it down, flattening all that hard work in under a minute. With a twist of her foot, she grinds the last of it down to nothing, smirking despite herself as she plucks Sanae up off of her.
"There. Anything else I should know about?"
"...no?"
"That's awfully unconvincing for someone in the palm of my hand, y'know."
"No, that was it… I thought we'd finally get, like, texting in Gensokyo, even if our own version… maybe someday."
"Well, next time, just have your gods ask nicely first, okay?"
"Okay…" She was too winded to put up much of a fight right now, as it was. This’d blow over eventually; surely her gods would understand that divine wrath is a bit stranger around here...

Day 7 - Giving Thanks
Hello everyone,
of course I’m thankful to all creators of our wonderful fandom. Still there are some that I’d like to mention in particular.
——————————————————————————————–
@animehusbandno1’s message to @forthrightly:
Never will I be able to thank you enough for bestowing “Lord Charming” (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7241166/1/Lord-Charming) upon the fandom! It’s a true masterpiece and still one of the best written fics from any fandom I ever read and you’re the first fanfic author I know who went on to actually publish their own original books! Your writing skills are remarkable and for me not a single Sesshoumaru characterization was ever as spot-on as yours. You created a whole Inu-youkai lore and culture and let the characters develop in the most wonderful way. I was so glad that I came across Lord Charming after it was finished, but oh man all the sleepless nights and teary-eyed mornings it gave me xD
——————————————————————————————–
@animehusbandno1’s message to @rannyunny:
Thank you so much for continuously creating the most amazing artworks of my OTP! You show so many different sides of them, your Sesshoumaru can be both fierce and tender and although I always prefer to see him with his long, luscious hair I do have a soft spot for your short-hair-versions of him ;) Also your Kagome is so much more than just positive and emotional. In many of your works it’s clear that she has greatly matured and grown into her power, which I love to see. But together they can also be goofy and playful and I cherish those works as well. I can only hope that you won’t stop creating Sesskag while developing your artistic skills and will cheer every time you show up on my dash <3
——————————————————————————————–
@animehusbandno1’s message to @youkaiyume:
It blows my mind to think that you started your Raindrops Doujinshi in 2005 (14years ago!!!!!!!) on DA and that you’re still updating it. I find it absolutely amazing that some people have been in the fandom for so long, when I got into it just about three years ago via tumblr x) You are one of my favorite Sesskag artists and I’m always getting excited to see another page of Raindrops on my dash. Hopefully you’ll keep sailing on this ship! https://raindrops-doujin.tumblr.com/
——————————————————————————————–
@animehusbandno1’s message to @zealous-fan
Thank you so much for collection some of the most beautiful Sesshoumaru artworks from all over the internet! I believe soon half of my Sesskag sideblog will consist of works reblogged from you. Seriously, how and where do you find all the amazing images??! xD
——————————————————————————————–
Last, but not least I’d like to thank all mods from this sesskag tumblr for organizing this lovely fandom appreciation week. Compared to other fandoms and ships it’s probably a bit more quiet in our Sesskag corner, but given how long ago the Inuyasha series already ended, I think it’s wonderful that so many artists and writers keep creating Sesskag content.
I’d also like to thank everyone who submitted to this little appreciation week, because I found some new gems I didn’t know before or had forgotten about!

So, I figured it'd be a good idea to explain more about Sendai's history here, so here a few important things about her. Just a reminder, Sendai's name in this AU is Megami.
Does Sendai have any romantic or sexual feelings for her associates and allies?
Believe it or not, the only people she has a good relationship that could result in that are Mima (who's Marisa's mom in this AU), Ran, and Kanako. However, she has no experience of any kind.
How did Sendai become Reimu's mother?
The short answer is that Reimu was adopted by her.
The long version is that Sendai was physically unable to bare children (due to a specific condition/sickness), but she wanted to be a mother, so she looked for orphanages in hopes to adopt a child.
Eventually, she came across a baby girl that she knew she'd been able to have a strong connection with. However, many people noticed that the baby had a dangerous and unknown power within her and tried to convince Sendai to not adopt the child.
Sendai refused and when people tried to take the baby from her, she violently retaliated. Thus, Sendai became the baby's adoptive mother, naming the baby Reimu.
Sendai was aware of Reimu's power, but decided that raising and nurturing her would be a far better solution, wanting to give her daughter a normal life.
Of course, Sendai's frustrated that Reimu's unable to have that normal life, being forced to take up her mother's place as the shrine maiden.
How did Sendai become as powerful as she is and how did she get the demon and angel forms?
This is a two-part question, so I figured grouping them together would be better.
So, the reason why Sendai's so OP is MOSTLY because of the demon and angel forms. They do give her strength that is leagues beyond most of Touhou's cast, even surpassing Yukari.
She got these forms by making a deal with a VERY powerful (but dead) youkai who was aligned with Hell and the Shinto gods. In exchange for power to protect her home, Sendai needed to be bonded to said youkai and the gods.
This gave her absurd levels of power and various abilities that made her feared by humanity and youkai-kind.
The angelic abilities are what frightened the youkai, as the demon form's powers aren't TOO different from most demons. For reference, the angelic powers are similar to the abilities of the Ark shown in Raiders of The Lost Ark (one of my favorite adventure films).
The forms came with very serious flaws. The angel form literally had to feed on Sendai's life force, which is what caused her accelerated aging. The demon form, on the other hand, had to feed on the souls of humans.
This meant that Sendai had to consume the souls of her human opponents. This is why Sendai RARELY used this form, as she began seeing herself as a monster.
I'm not sure if I want the souls to haunt Sendai from inside her, as humans are not built to ingest souls, or have the souls perish like actual food, thus sending the souls to the afterlife.
Still working on the flaws. Might add more, might not. Dunno.
Does she have other forms?
Theoretically, Sendai can have two other forms, as she's dead. But given her trauma with the demon and angel forms, she's more likely to not use forms, other than her base and normal forms.
If she were to focus more on controlling the angelic powers, she would achieve a power akin to that of the Dragon God, thus surpassing the entire Touhou cast. Her hair and eyes would be yellow and glowing green respectively (yes, like a Super Saiyan), as well as gain a halo.
If she let herself go down the path of the demons, she would gain power that would surpass every devil and demon known to humanity. Her hair would've become white and her eyes purple with black sclera. She would also have horns.
However, if she had time to strengthen her own humanity, she would have an appearance similar to that of Mikumo Kushinada from the manga/anime Kenichi. Her hair would've been more flowy and her eyes would've been brown to represent her more natural growth.
The RAREST possibility is, if she somehow managed to accept and merge her humanity with her demon and angel powers, she could have become stronger than the Dragon God. Her hair and eyes would've been silver and she would have all the strengths of her forms.
Out of all of these possibilities, the form that represents her humanity is the most likely outcome and the one she's currently attempting to achieve.
Will, has, or would Reimu be able to achieve or gain forms like Sendai's?
Technically, she has, but only by theme.
Her base form has evolved and become much stronger, due to experience. She has transformations based on the Oni Miko (demon) and White Reimu (angel) characters from MUGEN. She also has the Blue Reimu form, which is related to White Reimu.
The Maga-Reimu (Wicked Reimu) is similar to the youkai form, but here, it's the Hakurei God using Reimu as a host. This ultimately means Reimu has no control of her actions, unless the two are separated.
Will add more soon.
Touhou Project AU: Fate of Gensokyo
Lore
Setting: Set where Reimu (and other characters her age, like Marisa) is in her late teens (at youngest, she's 17, while at oldest, she's 19).
Synopsis: A few years after her latest adventure, Reimu has begun to make her own choices in life, becoming more independent as she strives to forge her own future. However, a new threat is arising from within Gensokyo; a threat that will determine the futures of EVERYONE within it.
Changes
The STORY change is a result of me not being a fan of ZUN's storytelling. I find certain stories in the Touhou games to be boring and not as serious or interesting as they could've been, as they have serious potential.
Most CHARACTER changes are due to the characters' age and the AU's plot. This includes a more mature personality (while staying true to canon) and appearance (while not over-exaggerating). At most, the human characters are a full foot taller and have a lean, athletic, or muscular build now, due to the amount of fighting that's happened as a result of the incidents.
A few human characters has headed to the outside world for a different path in life. These include Sakuya, Marisa, and Reimu.
Out of all the characters, Reimu is the one who changes most significantly. She has grown taller, has shorter hair, has a more muscular build, and has become more serious.
As stated earlier, she has begun searching for her own path in life. A life OUTSIDE of Gensokyo and being a shrine maiden. This has caused some friction between her, other maidens, and of course, Yukari.
Characters

About the Sendai Hakurei No Miko
Okay, so given that this character is the most popular OC in Touhou content, I would like to go over my interpretation of her.
Firstly, she has four official forms.
Her human form was what her base form evolved from. It is very similar to her base, with the exceptions of being shorter, having shorter hair, a lean and thin physique, and black eyes. This is what she was like when she was in her early 20s.
Her base form (provided by Rion) is her fueled with her powers as a shrine maiden. In terms of appearance, this is what she looked like when she was at her prime and raising the infant/toddler Reimu, so in her late 20s to early 30s. Her eyes are blue, she's lean and fit, and has short hair.
Tumblr media
Her demon form (provided by warugaki) is her borrowing the powers of Hell. Due to this, her appearance changes to having much longer hair, a more voluptuous body, an increase in height, and piercing red eyes, all matched with a cold-blooded killer-instinct demeanor.
Tumblr media
Her angel form (provided by lockheart) is her using the powers of the heavens. Her appearance is similar to her demon form, which the sole changes being her yellow eyes and her overall demeanor being less threatening and far more calm, though still intimidating.
Tumblr media
Her end form is an older version of her base form, as well as much weaker, due to her shrine maiden powers sweeping away as she gets older. Her accelerated aging is a horrendous side effect of her power usage and consumption, so while she in her late 30s, she looks like she's in her 50s to 60s. Her hair is now gray. Her eyes are white, due to her power usage. Her physique is frail and thin. However, she is able to use her base form's power and transform into a more youthful state, at the cost of her power becoming even weaker.
In regards to her personality, in both her base and true forms, she has a gentle and more cheerful demeanor surrounding her. She is filled with so much love in her heart that she can't bare the thought of losing someone she cares about. She can be a worrywart, but she knows to trust people. In spite of her forms, this never changes. She is best described as a Mama Bear/Wolf and is a good mother to Reimu, in spite of Sendai's struggles and challenges.
In terms of fighting prowess, just watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5trgSvUAGM

Oh boy, What a lovely episode it was!! Even though we haven't seen much of Rei and Mana's first meeting, the ep itself has a lot of hints of what i can think of..Is Rei even a human? Ibukimaru told him that his power ablites are origins from the Oni's creation,In fact Oni was the very first abilty that Rei use (not to mention that Rei's Oni arm are the same as Ibukimaru Oni's right arm) Also I liked how Kitaro been serious about protect Mana from Rei at all cost..Even though she proven his trust.
It was short-lived, but I was still excited to see them meet!! ....But Mana.... smells like Youkai now, huh....? I still say she absorbed some Ghost Tribe energy after wearing the chanchanko dammit
While his physical prowess and spiritual techniques are impressive, I do think Rei is human. Considering that the origin of Oni are closely tied to Onmyodo, it makes sense that Ibukimaru’s powers would be the origin of Rei’s Kidoshu abilities which are themselves a blend of Onmyodo and various other shamanistic practices. The kanji for Kidoshu is ‘ 鬼道衆‘ and plainly translates to ‘Oni Path Group’ after all ^^;;
However, the Kidoshu are not a new faction of the 2018 series! They also appeared in the 80′s rendition of the series, which is interestingly where the 2018 version pulls most of it’s color schemes from (purple haired Neko Musume, grey robed Rat Man, etc.) and features Token Human Tendo Yumeko whom Mana was likely modeled after.
In the 80′s series, the Kidoshu are still demon-hunting spiritualists... but what’s especially interesting is that their leaders had a tradition of consuming mermaid flesh to gain immortality! So if Rei seems inhuman in some way, this may be a supporting factor. And if one of Rei’s own clan leader jump-started the trouble in Hell by releasing the generals as some have theorized, this may also be a clue on how they managed such a feat.
And Kitaro.... Kitaro, Kitaro, Kitaro.... I’ve only been telling you to put a crow on Mana for 50+ episodes now....!!!!

Introduction: Sesshomaru x Kagura Children
Total children: 6
1. Megumi  Age 240 ( Age 24 in Human age)
The eldest child and daughter of the entire royal Tashio family of the Western Land. Basically, daddy little girl but someone else took the throne. She is very independent and strong-willed despite being very stubborn like her parents. Inherited her mother’s black hair and a confident attitude. Though she has inherited her father golden eyes and his daiyoukai powers in which she masters it at an age. Even though she may be the oldest for entire siblings, she still likes to act a little kid sometimes. She is well trained with her swordsmanship just like her father and quite the expert with knife-wielding which self-taught by her own mother who passes it on to her. Overall Megumi is very protective of her siblings and her brothers especially Maru.
2. Rose Age 230 (Age 23 in Human age)
Rose is the second daughter and child of the family whereas she seems very cold-hearted and distance. Though on the inside she nothing more than a big old teddy bear as she helps out with the nearby orphanage in the village. She cares for the orphan youkai and hanyou children whose parents either died or abandoned them on the steps of the orphanages.
3. Kanna and Iris Age 210 (Age 21 in Human age)
4. Tatsuya Age 180 (Age 18 in Human age)
He and his older sister are extremely where it seems whenever they get into argument...Tatsuya always the first one to apologize.
5. Kaze and Sesshomaru II Age 150  (Age 15 in human ages)
Some of the guests that visit the royal family often confuse the young boy as being his father.  Well, the one things that everyone knows about Maru is that he’s extremely innocent and very polite. Maru never cusses nor talk ill about anyone even those that disrespected him from face to face. The young son even made friends with Tatsuya long-term rivals but Maru is naturally obedience, patience, caring, kind-hearted, and a bit naive but not stupid. He is also the full definition of Daddy’s little boy. As a young infant Maru always looked up toward his father as a role model. He has a loving relationship with his father and also with his mother, whom both parents cherish Maru with their life.

Prompt: SessKag Kagome has doubts about her future, when her and Inuyasha meet Sesshoumaru and her future self(plus some of their children) in present day.Who have been happily mated for five centuries, those doubts clear up. Inuyasha gets angry a lot and Kagome gets flustered when her future self says to the question why her and Sess have so many children is because it is so much fun to make them.Self-fullfilling prophecy, those events lead to Kagome seeing Sess' true self and their relationsh.
Thanks for the prompt, love! :D Hope it’s to your liking! ♥
Paradox
Kagome picked up her pace and balled her hands intofists.
“No!” she barked, her voice strained by impatience. “Itold you I needed two weeks and that’s what I’m going to take.”
“Damnit, Kagome, we don’t have any time to waste! Twoweeks is too long!”
“Like it or not, Inuyasha, I have to sit through myexams. Two weeks is non-negotiable.”
Inuyasha growled and glared at Kagome from under the billof the baseball cap he wore to cover his ears.
“And while you’re out here being examined, Naraku’sgathering more Shikon shards!”
“I know!” Kagome snapped. “But unlike you, I have a lifeoutside of shard hunting, and I’m doing the best I can to maintain a balancebetween – don’t you growl at me!”
Kagome propped her hands on her hips, indignant, butInuyasha wasn’t paying any attention to her.
He was staring fixedly down the street, his lips curledback in a snarl.
Kagome was so doneand just about to ask what the heck Inuyasha’s problem was, when she felt it.
A prickle in the air; faint, but undeniable in itsorigin. Familiar youki, somewhereclose by.
Kagome stared down the street, trying to see who hadcaught Inuyasha’s attention… and then she spotted him.
Tall and broad-shouldered. The silver-white hair wasunmistakable, even though it had been cut short in the modern fashion.
Kagome was moving before any conscious thoughtregistered.
“Oi, Kagome,” Inuyasha hissed. “What hell are you doing?”
But Kagome kept walking forward, her quick steps eatingup the distance.
Inuyasha cursed and rushed after her.
They had almost reached the youkai, when he suddenlyturned around.
Both Kagome and Inuyasha stopped short.
The demon looked hauntingly familiar.
In fact, he could’ve been a mirror image of Sesshoumaru,if not for two small details: he lacked Sesshoumaru’s facial markings and hiseyes were blue.
Blue and warm, and wide with both shock and recognitionas he stared at the two of them, equally stunned.
Then, he opened his mouth and spoke.
Who would’ve known it’d only take a single word to sealKagome’s fate.
“Mother?”
After a couple of long flabbergasted seconds, Kagomemanaged a wheezy “what?”
The youkai ignored Inuyasha – who was busy swearing likea sailor – and gave Kagome a baffled once-over. “What on Earth are youwearing?”
Kagome shook her head. What the hell was going on?
And more importantly, who –
“Who the hell are you?” Inuyasha demanded, pushinghimself between Kagome and the demon.
The youkai frowned. “Come on, Uncle Inu. That’s not funny.”
Inuyasha took a step forward, snarling. The youkainarrowed his eyes, and youki crackledin the air.
The situation might have gone very badly from there –when something even more mindboggling happened.
All of a sudden, Inuyasha and the youkai were yanked apart.
Kagome gasped, as she met the cold golden eyes she knew.
“Not here, you fools,” Sesshoumaru said, his voicethreateningly quiet, while still maintaining a good grip on both Inuyasha’s andthe other youkai’s necks. “If you want to brawl like barbarians, do it out ofthe prying eyes of the humans.”
The other youkai was looking sheepish now. “I’m sorry.”
Inuyasha, however, twisted in Sesshoumaru’s grip so hecould glare at him. “What the hell are you doing here, you bastard?”
The other youkai gaped at Inuyasha.
Sesshoumaru deposited him down. “Go on now, Masaru. Ourlunch is postponed.”
The other youkai – Masaru – nodded and left in a hurry.
Unease slithered in the pit of Kagome’s stomach. Inuyashaand Sesshoumaru looked just about ready to tear into each other’s throats, butthen, what else was new?
So she squared her shoulders and stamped down her growingdiscomfort.
“Let him go, Sesshoumaru!”
And that was when the time truly stopped.
Kagome blinked in confusion and tilted her head.
Was she hearing things now, too? Because she could’vesworn there’d just been the weirdest stereo-effect, except…
Kagome took three slow steps to the left – and saw thefigure standing behind Sesshoumaru, a hand propped on her hip.
Kagome’s head swam. Her knees buckled.
And Sesshoumaru was there to catch her, before she couldslump inelegantly onto the street.
His chest was hard, his arm around her secure and oddlygentle.
But Kagome was too overwhelmed by everything at thispoint. She couldn’t make sense of what Sesshoumaru was asking her in a soft, concerned voice. She just stared at the woman standing across from her. Foughtto get air into her lungs.
From there, things were a blur. She knew they weremoving, but didn’t know where they were going. Sesshoumaru had wrapped his armaround her shoulders and was leading her somewhere. Kagome’s numb legs obeyedwithout a question.
The next time Kagome was actually aware of hersurroundings, she was sitting in a private corner booth of a family restaurant.
Inuyasha was sulking by her side, and across the tablesat Sesshoumaru – and her.
Kagome stared at the woman for a long moment, her brainrefusing to accept what her eyes were seeing.
And when she finally remembered how to form words, theytumbled off her tongue in the quick succession of a nervous babble.
“I don’t understand. Isn’t this against the rules? Howcan we meet here like this without screwing up the timeline? Shouldn’t this belike a paradox or something? Or createone?”
Kagome wrung her hands and stared across the table. Itwas unnerving, to look yourself in the eye – even though the other “you” wassmiling in a friendly and reassuring manner.
“Don’t worry, this meeting won’t mess up the timeline,”the other Kagome said.
Was that what her voice really sounded like?
Ugh, there was just too much going on for her brain toprocess.
“How can you be sure?” Kagome demanded.
The blue eyes twinkled, crow’s feet crinkling in thecorners.
Kagome felt more at ease, seeing the lines she didn’t yethave. Something visual to mark their difference.
“Because I remember this day,” she replied simply.“Perhaps it is a paradox of some sort – I never really got the hang of theintricacies of time travel… But I remember this. Meeting an older version ofmyself. Sitting down with her. Having a chat.”
A shiver travelled down Kagome’s spine and her skinerupted in gooseflesh.
“I remember it well,” the other one said, locking her gaze with Kagome’s. “After all, looking back, that day changed my life.”
Kagome looked away and hugged herself. Cold fear wascreeping up her chest now.
In her heart and in her gut she knew.
Somewhere deep down, her other self’s words rang true. But her mind protested, shrieking its denial.
Desperate to avoid the haunting sight of two pairs ofeyes that were both familiar and foreign at the same time, Kagome’s gazefixated on the pair of hands resting on the table. Clasping each other in suchan easy comfort that the gesture must’ve been habitual.
Kagome wouldn’t have believed it possible, but the sightof those hands managed to confuse her poor brain even further.
Naturally, Inuyasha chose that moment to boil over.
“What the hell is this shit?” he growled, gesturing wildlyat the other Kagome and Sesshoumaru, his claws flexing.
His barely contained anger showed in the tense lines ofhis muscles.
“It is as it seems,” Sesshoumaru replied calmly. “Anunfortunate crossing of timelines.”
The other Kagome shook her head and touched Sesshoumaru’sshoulder. “Very fortunate, for us.”
Sesshoumaru looked at the other Kagome and smiled. “Indeed,”he agreed, then brought their joined hands to his lips. He pressed a kiss onthe back of the other Kagome’s hand.
Kagome was pretty sure her eyes were bugging out.
Inuyasha, on the other hand, was growling again.
“The other youkai, from earlier... He was…?”
Kagome couldn’t bring herself to finish her question. Theword got stuck in her throat.
“Masaru,” Sesshoumaru replied. “Our son.”
“One of our sons,” the other Kagome amended.
The beginnings of a headache pounded on Kagome’s temples.
“How many are there?” Inuyasha asked, and Kagome wishedhe hadn’t.
She wasn’t sure she wanted to know.
“Sons – or children altogether?” Sesshoumaru returned, looking Inuyasha in the eye.
Inuyasha sputtered.
The other Kagome was smoothing down her hair, lookingsheepish. “Let’s just say there are several.”
“Of each,” Sesshoumaru added, his evil grin aimed atInuyasha.
Inuyasha’s face was turning purple and Kagome wondered ifhe might be choking on his tongue.
“Several?” Kagome echoed, feeling faint again.
“Well, you know… It took the better part of fourcenturies to develop reliable contraceptives,” the other Kagome said, shruggingher shoulders.
“And abstinence was not an option,” Sesshoumaru added, his golden eyes flashing as he slanted a look at the other Kagome.
Oh dear lord. Kagomeblushed.
Inuyasha was making the choking sound again.
“Don’t worry about it,” the other Kagome said, her voicegentle, her eyes kind.
Kagome nodded.
But despite her older self’s reassurances, she was going to worry. If future had beenunclear before, it felt thoroughly muddled to her now.
After everything she had learned about today, abouteverything that might be waiting for her in the years to come… it just wasn’tphysically possible not to worry.
Because it would take Kagome quite some time to come toterms with all of this.
Although on the plus side, Kagome mused, noting the smileher other self and Sesshoumaru shared, she would have centuries to get used toit.

Japanese folk tales #67 - A feast of mermaid
My health has been down the weather so I have not been able to post many tales lately but here it is, a new story dedicated to @siumerghe who kindly introduced me to Onmyoji PC version :D
Find my tales tagged here or visit my blog for both english and french versions. Wish me to cover a special youkai or subject? Contact me, I’ll try to accommodate ❤️
Once upon a time, there was on Wakasa coast a small flourishing harbour which stood upon the clearest sea.
Blessed by lenient tides and fair weather, its fishermen came back every nightfall with lines and nets full of silvery fishes.
Townspeople where so glad for their luck that they never forgot to thank the many gods of the ocean.
Once every year, all homes draw their sliding doors wide opened, unveiling their cherished hearth to the four winds.
All day long, all rejoiced, dancing and drinking. And as the sun slowly went to sleep, fishermen would carry the town’s shrine portable altar into flaming waters, reuniting deities for one night with their homeland.
One year, as the sea darkened, a boat like no one has ever seen appeared by the horizon.
Gliding effortlessly, it moored with otherworldly grace. On its deck, rose people clothed in foam-like robes, eyes unblinking and smiles showing sharp pearly teeth.
Without a word, they extended fin-like hands to the mesmerized fishermen. And one by one they got onto the strange boat, never looking back toward their homes on the shore.
As sails magically set, the fishermen froze among the merfolk. Everywhere was more richness that they could ever have imagine.
Like famished gulls, the humans scattered through the rooms, hungrily touching finest coral and iridescent abalone shells, under the amused looks of their silent hosts.
As one fisherman wandered by, astonished, he suddenly heard muffled gurgles coming from the hull. Curious, he carefully came closer… and swallowed a gasp.
A merfolk stripped to the waist, his greyish torso covered by a myriad of scales, stood among cooking pots knife in a hand. In the other one, he held in a strong grip the strangest of fishes.
Its lower body was all smooth eel skin, slimy as seaweeds. But the other half was definitely human like, with the angry wrinkled face of a crying baby.
Before he could move, the cook had skillfully gutted and cut down the mermaid, adding pieces after pieces on a fuming grill.
Disgusted, the man hastily retraced his steps only to find his friends in a lavish banquet hall, seating among merfolks in front of mother-of-pearl trays.
The fishermen were used to work together and knew each others like to back of their hands. As he took place, they instantly seized up his sickened face.
But the feast had already began.
Refined dishes kept coming, each delicately arranged. The fishermen gingerly ate their fill, not accustomed to such tastes but unwilling to be impolite to their hosts. Until the meat was served.
The man felt his stomach turn. He frantically raised his head and crossed the others’ gazes. Pointing to his plate, he cautiously shook his head.
The fishermen all got the hint. As discreetly as they could, all faked eating the grilled meat. With swift movements of their chopsticks, they slipped it into their kimono sleeves – until all plates looked licked clean.
Merfolks remained oblivious of their trick. And the rest night went by uneventful, filled with human songs and eerie hushed laughs.
Just as the sky lightened, the boat moored once more by the village. One by one, fishermen got off, shyly waving merfolks goodbye as they vanished into mist in the first sunrays.
But ass soon as the boat disappeared, all took out the disgusting meat weighing their sleeves down and threw them into the ocean, muttering prayers under their breaths.
All but Takahashi, the younger of them, who simply pretended to throw his piece away before going home on shaky legs.
He put the meat into a box as a memento of that strange night, and put the box deep into a cupboard.  Then he sprawled face first onto his bed, dead drunk.
Months passed. Yet one day, as Takahashi’s young daughter was spring cleaning the house as her father was out at sea, her nimble fingers found the little box under layers of jumble.
She opened it. Inside, the piece of meat looked as juicy as ever.
The girl couldn’t resist: she gobbled it down in one bite. Then, feeling remorseful, she hid the box back where she had found it and never spoke a word about her secret snack.
At first nothing happened. Life kept going by in the harbour. Takahashi’s daughter became a lovely young lady and quickly found a husband.
But as years went by, people started to whisper.
Her husband’s back bent, her children grew up, yet she stayed as young and lively as ever, unmarred by a life full  of hard work. Worse, by dusk, some swore they had seen her skin glow like a moonlit ocean.
Her parents died, then her husband, then her children and grandchildren, yet she remained untouched by time.
In the village, now all shunned her, cursing her under their breath as she went by, lonely and sad by the shore, mourning people only she had known and loved.
One day, she could not take it anymore. She shaved her hair, put on a veil and left.
They said that the girl who never aged traveled across the country for centuries, trying to find peace of mind as a wandering nun.
And that, when she finally returned to her homeland, she planted a white camellia near a sea cave before jumping into the abyss and never coming back.
Such was the blessing of mermaid flesh.
Notes:
This tale relates to childhood of Yao Bikuni, a buddhist nun thought to have lived 800 years – all because she had once eaten mermaid’s meat given to her father by oblivious merfolks kindly willing to reward their village piety.
If Japan has a myriad of sea creatures in its folklore, from short tempered sea gods (Susano) to monstrous or benevolent spirits, true mermaids (ningyo) stories are kinda rare.
With their fishlike bodies and crumpled human-like faces, they have little in common with their Western cousins. Japanese mermaids in fact start gaining popularity during Edo where strange mummies were crafted by carnitalkers (who sew monkeys upper torso to fish tails) and displayed in misemono (freak show) or sold to temples (some still can be seen).
Religious festivals are still a very important part of Japan daily life. If matsuri are now sometimes mostly an excuse to party, in the past they were crucial to appease the gods. In coast communities, it was not unusual to carry portable altars (mikoshi) into the nearby sea to “free” the local god – and reassure its benevolence for yet another year.
