don't mind me, i'm just fond of thinking about SESSHOMARU having a human s/o that ends up targeted by other humans, who judge her for being a youkai's wife / partner. i imagine them trying to kill her because of that,

and she ends up dying with an arrow on her forehead, while she tried to run away.

of course, SESSHOMARU didn't hesitate to return her to life with tenseiga. but the image of his s/o dead, dropped on the floor with void eyes, and an arrow stuck on her forehead as their pale face contrasts with the blood dropping from her wound...

... to the point where it becomes a habit of SESSHOMARU, to always kiss his s/o on that spot, where the arrow was. he does it almost to be sure that his s/o is alive, there with him, as if that death never happened and that arrow was never stuck on that forehead.

i like to imagine that despite tenseiga's healing, his s/o might have a tiny scar, or even something very light where the arrow penetrated her head.

this was a totally 4am thought. 💢

pairing: sesshomaru x human!reader content: established relationship, domestic fluff, humor, slightly ooc sesshomaru: eating human food A/N: I found my old sesshomaru rp blog and got inspired to write this. Also didn't proofread this so fingers crossed.

The soft sound of a crack and annoyed grunt that followed brought your eyes up from your bowl just in time to see two bits of broken chopsticks fall to the floor from his hand. His brows were tense, the squint of golden eyes cursing the flimsy workmanship of tools, all tools by default, made by human hands. His hold was careful, delicate, and precise in maintaining an acceptable grip on the tools, yet a small adjustment between his fingers and clawed digits had snapped through yet another pair of chopsticks. They are perfectly adequate for humble village folk who made do with them, but for a powerful youkai like himself more comfortable with the luxury of those fitted for his hands, these may as well have been twigs pinned by carriage wheels– Exercising restraint or no.

That annoyed look on his face said it all for you and you purse your lips to stifle a soft titter, trying to hold your own food in your mouth while you chewed. Sesshomaru’s stare then finds you, the daiyoukai setting down the bowl of cooked meat from his other hand and letting the remaining pieces of chopsticks fall before him.

He was one whose presence you allied with mastered grace and control, yet witnessing him struggle to even hold human chopsticks in his hands without breaking them forced an amused smile on your face. Endearing him all the more in your graces. You love every chance you get to see that dignified composure break and learn about these tiny flaws of his. Sesshomaru was someone you could describe as nothing less than beautiful perfection in this world, especially compared to the likes of a human like yourself. Without much guidance or thought, you held him on a pedestal but when moments like this happen you learn that even a regal creature like himself could be relatable. His stubbornness to prove himself never failed to expose who he was behind his title and eminence. A man, like any other, who every once in a while deserves a private moment of being his honest self. You just wish it lasted longer, but his pride in his heritage would not allow him to be as such for more than a passing moment.   

It’s not his fault his powerful claws could do such a thing without even trying, it couldn’t be helped. But it’s his determination to dine with his wife in her human village, to try and try again despite a repeat performance of broken pair after broken pair. It spoke highly of the restraint he must truly hold himself to when those same claws brush over your skin and you press yourself into them with complete faith. 

“You find this amusing?” He dryly delivered to your ears only making your smile widen.

“Not at your expense, My Lord.” You uttered in an airy tone with your eyes lowered from him, trying not to allow a laugh to slip. You can feel the sear of his glare and hesitate to make eye contact, only to give yourself time to compose before the urge to laugh takes over. You set down your own bowl and reach for his, gathering a saucy, rare cut of meat. “I can look into having a special pair fashioned for you.” Maybe Master Totosai would help? If you asked nicely, but maybe humble chopsticks fit for a demon would belittle the blacksmith’s skills. It’s not like you can just waltz up to any other demon, let alone make such a trifle of a request. You’ll run it by Jaken to see if he can be of assistance

You let the last bit of juice drip from the helping before lifting it up toward Sesshomaru, looking up at him expectantly. 

“I am not concerned with this.” Sesshomaru answers, composure restored as he ran a hand through his hair, loosely tucking it back behind his ear and tossing the length over his shoulder. He closes his eyes, a quiet sigh falling from his nose and he leans forward with an open mouth gathering the helping from the end of your chopsticks.

“Shall I continue to feed you, then?” You insisted in a lighthearted tease with an arch brow

“...” His brows narrowed as he chewed, keeping his eyes closed as he did. You smiled lovingly.

“It would be no trouble at all.” 

He reopens his eyes and looks at you, glare softened. Safe to assume how you would go about this little chore you encouraged piqued his curiosity. When his mouth stills and throat softly bobs, he answers.

“Do as you like.”

“Your wi-” being in disbelief was just a small understatement of how you really felt. You scoffed, slapped his hand away, and took a long step away from him. Immediately pivoting to face him head on.

“There’s no way that my parents would sign me off to the likes of you.” your words were blubbering out of your mouth. The stranger remained poignant, sharp, borderline unimpressed with you. “I mean, just look at you!” now this caught his attention.

You pointed at his furry garb dangling off his shoulder. His eyes narrowed as you spoke. “You’re no man I would want to marry!” you huffed, tooting your nose up in the air with a hmph!

“You don’t even look like you could protect me from any kind of threat. You’re too, what’s the word.” he raised his eyebrow wondering what was the word you were looking for.

“Too soft. I’d like for my husband to be strong, rugged looking, a real warrior. Not-” in the middle of your speech, a loud roar bellowed through the thicket of trees. It sent you tumbling to your knees in a hurry. The stranger on the other hand stood there, his stoned face still affixed on yours. 

Trembling at the hem, you covered your head with your delicate hands, hoping the distant demon would overlook the two of you. And besides, these morning glories were just starting to bloom!

“What are you doing!?” you hissed, squinting up at him. “You’re going to blow our cover! Duck down!” ROOOOOAAAARRRRRRR! You could see the birds flap for the hills in the opposite direction of the looming beast. Dammit! What a day to forget your sword! You fetched under your kimono for the dagger attached to your thigh, only to look up to the stranger disappearing again.

“Eh!?” you flicked your head back and forth. Mouth agape. And this is supposed to be my husband?! “How could you just leave me, you so-called husband?!” you spat on the earth, only to hope for forgiveness shortly after. 

“Well then, i guess i’ll just have to fi-” the beast groaned to life again. But this time, it was with Sesshomaru hovering over its head with a glowing green arm. What the- you watched in curiosity. Just what kind of show was he putting on.

“What? Is he going to paint the demon? I swear father won’t hear the la-” and in a flash, large whisks clapped through the air. It sounded like the angriest thunderstorm you could imagine. Before you could even blink, the large, purple-skinned demon, showed flesh like cuts all over its body. Even at the ankles!

That was an ankle. Right?

One split second later, the beast split apart right before your eyes! A treacherous beast that stood above the trees was now a smoking husk of bones and flesh, readily available for the wildlife that hid in the thickets. 

The stranger landed promptly back to the ground. His hair swayed lazily with the wind. Almost like it woke up from a lazy summer nap instead of slaying a forest beast! When he turned to you, you didn’t even realize you were staring at him, mouth agape and eyes wide. 

Without another word, you huffed and stomped towards the direction of the castle.

“Let’s go! If anyone is going to have answers, it's going to be father.” you proceeded to walk further ahead, your pride leading you to ignore the fact that the stranger wasn’t even following behind you.

“We don’t have all day- what?!” you turned around to see he was gone again. “Enough of the disap- h-hey! Put me down! I’m not a peasant girl you can just throw over your shoulder!” the thought slyly danced across his head, and there you were, thrown over his furry shoulder like a rucksack of potatoes.

“Pft!” you got a handful of the fur in your mouth as you flailed. “You think this is so funny!”

“Wait till my father here’s about this! And don’t get any peeps either, you- you pompous pervert!”

Scent Headcanon — Inuyasha Omegas

Notes: Inuyasha is my favorite anime, so the fact there aren't many fanfics of it makes me kinda sad.

Warnings: spoilers on Naraku's, might have grammar errors

»» Youkais and Hanyōs have a bigger sensitivity towards all senses, but principally scent. So this is a big thing for them, also they can sense if someone is pregnant just by their scent.

»» Bankotsu smells like a river, a little like metal and blood, considering he is always fighting. When he is mad his smell becomes more putrid, but fortunately, he uses natural suppressants and also has great control over his scent.

»» Inuyasha's smell is very strong, sometimes a bit overwhelming, very floral, like you're in a field of flowers on a sunny day. When he gets angry, which is quite often, is like his smell starts to wither slowly and becomes a bit faded.

»» This is a mixture of scents, since Kõga lives with his entire pack in a cave under a waterfall, he smells like all of those. A mixture of all the scents from the wolves in the pack, cave, river, and a bit of forest. When angry his scent spikes, and the more prominent smells are forest and river. His smell is not normally strong, a bit subtle.

»» Naraku doesn't have a scent, neither of his incarnations does, considering he is a fusion between 100+ demons and a dying body, even if he had a scent it would be too overwhelming to anyone, even himself.

»» Now Sesshomaru has a very clean and fresh smell, he smells like a rainy day, the smell of grass and flowers together in a light rain. When angry his smell becomes more watery as you can only smell the water, as if in a storm, and also a faded sense of ocean.

»» I feel like Tõga's scent is a mixture of Inuyasha's and Sesshomaru's, I mean they gotta have picked from one of their parents. His scent is very floral but has a subtle rainy smell to it. When he gets angry the change is also subtle, it only alters a bit, like you can't smell the rain as much.

Yashahime - Takashi Shiina Blog Translation : Shonen Sunday S January 2022 [Part 2]

The early lives of the three princesses as depicted in the original work, the anime, have a fantasy flavor and an awareness of “fairy tales”. Towa-chan and Setsuna-chan “grew up just the two of them in a forest protected by a barrier, and the subordinate of an evil witch attacked their paradise”, which is very romantic. Meanwhile, in the comicalization I tried to create an image of the personal tragedy of kids whose parents were Sengoku warriors. Using the scene from the previous chapter where they’re transported in an ox carriage, it’s simplified, and I thought an image of “war” was necessary. 

The idea “to select mu onna as android wet nurses” came from depicting “the reliability of the serious Sesshomaru-sama in a gorgeous mansion modeled after the Rokujouin mansion of ‘Genji Monogatari’ in a casual way”, and the story came together as “youkai are sometimes frightening and different beings than humans, but regarding the Yashahime they are friends and family”. 

The imps/little onis who are together with the mu onna are a yokai called kanashibari, and originally (1) appeared as tormentors of (Inuyasha’s) mother played by the mu onna in order to trick Inuyasha by Lord Sesshomaru. I love them so much, their eyebrows and eyes, their body shape, their clothes, everything about them is just too much for me. They’re creepy-cute. Therefore, when I had the mu onna appear again, the circumstances are that I wanted them to be together (with the princesses) by all means, so they were called out. I did the setting as adding to the atmosphere where such things hang around as a demon dressed as a court lady, and it was like “Since we worked with Lord Sesshomaru before, we have often worked with him on the same spot again”... Yeah, exactly that.

I tried to draw Konton-san, who has shaved his beard and changed his eyes (when compared to the anime) after a meeting with Takahashi Rumiko-sensei, where the topic that it might be interesting to increase the level of beauty of enemy characters in Shiina's version was brought up… Well, it was like “In Shiina’s universe is that how it is? Lol” (laugh). In addition, I also let my personal desire to draw a “cool Jaken-sama” explode. Considering the fact that he was so scared of the band of the seven, he doesn't seem to be that strong against the storyboard mid-boss level, let alone the small fry (laugh), but I plan to have a more detailed account of what happened here later on. For now, I'd like to say that he did his best to protect the children, and I'd like you to record the charming voice of Cho-san, who plays Jaken in the anime, in the style of Gilboa-san from ‘Gundam UC’: “Take care of Tikva... Take care of my family... (Boom)".

Needless to say, Towa-chan's narration at the end contains my thoughts on the much-loved masterpiece "Inuyasha" and "Yashahime". When they start running in the style of an anime opening, I think it would be more exciting if you could play the theme song of the first half of the first season, 'New Era', in your brain. I made it with that in mind. Like “Let's run, let's take you to the promised place (2)" (laugh).

The image of Rin-sama (formerly Rin-chan), who is sealed in the epilogue, was changed to a more old-fashioned single hakama (hitoegakama) and thin silk (but for various reasons it's not as sheer as the original) because I felt that a properly dressed lintel would look like an Edo period samurai wife, but the rest of the story follows the original.

I think it's a statement of intent that “the story is the same as the anime as a general framework”, but as I've said many times before, the extent to what is considered a "general framework" will differ from person to person, and I'll be rearranging various parts including character situations and motivations, so it's not the same as the original anime, but the world line is surprisingly very close to it. I think I've managed to create a good balance and distance between the two versions, so please enjoy what I've made of the original work and the way I've rearranged it.

So, up to this point, this is the prologue and departure arc. The first volume containing these three chapters is scheduled to be released around January 18th and it will have a gorgeous specification with color pages, so be sure to buy it, please. The fourth chapter, which begins a new development in the next issue, takes place in the village of the exterminators led by the grown-up Kohaku-kun. I’m also preparing a surprise unique to the manga worldline, and I’m currently working hard on writing the story, so please wait for it.

Funny how the idea behind this fanedit came from a joke between me and a person who shares my same passion for Sesshomaru's fashionable footwear but then as got to work I accidentally realized how much you can say about Sesshomaru's personality and growth by the analysis of his character from the knees down.

I'd like to deepen this topic in the future, though until then let me suggest just a few things:

• Sesshomaru is quite literally able to fly and yet mostly he just walks on his foot. It is not given a reason but he's the type of youkai who saves energy unless the situation requires it, his every step is calculated, measured, so this characteristic of his makes sense.

• Sesshomaru's path knows no real obstacles, his real opponent is himself, so he just walks ahead, nothing can stop him, he really "walks all over you", like a tank. (Well, not entirely true, Inuyasha gives him a hard time, doesn't he?).

• He is also thoughtful, often just "standing there doing absolutely nothing" (to put it in @sesshoumaruonly 's words, thanks for your definition), like a statue, even in the middle of an action.

• Other times his stillness means something different. For example when facing Kagura's death. Then within him there are helplessness, compassion, grief.

• Typical of him, his lightning-fast movements too, so that in battle his feet barely touch ground (except for when he's calculating his next move or foretasting his enemy's impending defeat.)

• On rare occasions he even is capable of kneeling, the mere thought of which he should abhor as an act in direct contrast to his own nature, instead he finds himself doing exactly that first upon using/testing Tenseiga on Rin (you'd say almost an instinct of protection coming out unconsciously), then three more times during the Underworld arc, again because of Rin.

When I was young my biggest fic headcanon was Inuyasha finding Naruto cos I liked the Inuyasha-Shippou dynamic and Naruto = fox so it was natural I guess. But then I grew up and headcanon reversed with an adult Naruto finding Inuyasha.

Just imagine Ray, a Kakanaru AU adult Naruto in the Inuyasha-verse through some fuuinjutsu mishap, surprised at the open existence of youkai, hiding himself but demons still seem to wary of him no matter how much he concealed his scent, and then stumbling upon the feral waif of a hanyu child. The isolation and discrimination would resonate with Naruto deeply. Plus the white hair and the dog motif would remind Naruto of Kakashi while the child's attitude reminded him of himself. It was like looking at a child of himself and Kakashi. So Naruto would straight up adopt the boy. Tell him he's not worthless for being a hanyou. Teach him, clothe him, feed him, tell him he's not a mistake... All the things he had himself wished for as a child. It would be wholesome and heartwarming. And of course Inuyasha would be trained to fight but he would develop sneaky shinobi techniques as opposed to the brash, juggernaut style in canon. Inuyasha would be called 'pup', and pretend to hate it but secretly love it. Grooming sessions under the guidance of Kurama cos no way a child under his hair would ever have matted fur. Teaching little Inuyasha jutsu so he won't feel as vulnerable on human nights. Actually looking into hanyou biology. The eventual encounter with Sesshomaru is surely gonna be interesting.

The hc is dear to me cos I love neglected children being given parental figures who care about them and the parents themselves healing by taking care of the child. So yeah Naruto as Inuyasha's adoptive father idea is close to my heart.

Look look you need to write this out because it's too fucking adorable.

okay as a fic writer myself i don't want to be rude but. what is it with certain fics having this whole omegaverse structure spearheading fictional youkai culture? specifically fics that emphasize alpha/beta/omega dynamics between characters. like there was one specific inukag fic i read where inuyasha was demanding respect "as the alpha" or whatever and i legitimately burst out laughing because a.) he could not get away with ever saying this, and b.) he's quite literally the last character to give a fuck about hierarchy. this sort of thing feels more suited to characters like koga and sesshomaru who actually care about stuff like this, and not the sole character who's mere existence is a huge "fuck you" to the canonical hierarchy in the series.
