Historically significant or just significant for me? The existence of this wonderful cover kind of made me glad I lived in this universe, the universe where Patreon exists and this is literally the exact kind of art it was created to allow artists to create! No bullshit -- hear me out: Patreon had been live less than a year when Pomplamoose uploaded this to YT iirc. YT was going through dystopian changes, especially with regard to detection of copyrighted content and extending that even to covers. It kind of killed the mojo of a lot of artists, especially mashup and cover artists, to have almighty YT say you were doing something bad, even deleting your entire channel. I was a YT "Partner" earning about $200/month but even if YT deigned to allow an infringing video to stay up, 100% of the revenue went to whichever entity was squatting the claim process -- barely affected me as I just deleted or unlisted any infringing vids but then the most I did was put a few seconds of reggaeton in the audio track (cringe but not the core of my artistic expression).

This is the true story of the most famous race ever held in the country of tales.

Everything started when the tortoise and hare challenged each other at a velocity event. That generated a lot of excitement in the forest. So much so that the other animals decided to make their own pools/bets, casting a vote at show of hands, well show of paw or claw. At the first count, they were tied at one hundred until it was known that the only animal that the only animal that was supporting the tortoise was the centipede. It was clear that the tortoise wasn't the public favourite.

But let's turn back to the race. There is a week left for the big event, and the hare was so confident that spend the day resting under a tree. On the other hand, the tortoise had decided to prepare with dedication, for that they hire the services of one of the fastest athletes in the world. That guy showed them how to properly take the turns, to break in the last second (break deep?), to save energy and no never give up. The tortoise fought with all their strength. It wasn't easy, but at the end managed to overcome all the test.

And it came in the day of the big race. The young athlete had already done his job and said his goodbyes to his now friend, the tortoise. But when he was leaving, the tortoise asks: 'do you think I have any possibilities to win?'

The guy turned around, looked at the tortoise and answered: 'you've already won the first race.'

The tortoise thought about it until they understood that the first race that has to be won is the race to overcome yourself, and that is what they had already done.

There are tons of amazing Zelda remixes out there, but I love this one in particular because 1) it fucking rocks; and 2) the opening organ is so strongly reminiscent of Walk, In the Rain from episode 5 of Cowboy Bebop that it kind of drives me slightly insane.

Mostly, though, it fucking rocks. Link to the Past debuted so much of the most iconic Zelda music; you really can't go wrong with any of it.
