anyone else not believe in a "normal childhood". like so many people's experiences are so far from a "normal childhood" that i think normal childhoods are more myth than reality. and even when they do exist, children still are treated more like chattel than actual people. by this point, i think the concept of a "normal childhood" is a kind of propaganda pushed in movies and other media to obfuscate how pervasive childhood abuse and neglect is all over the world, ESPECIALLY of young girls.
#ok xavery#i mean something that just made me think of this is like. someone talking about youtubers making their own versions of lunchables#and it's just like. so few parents actually care about their children or even have the resources to actually provide proper nutrition for#(cont) their children. and if you can't even have a healthy diet. is your childhood even ''normal''?#this isn't even getting into the other physical/sexual/emotional abuse children regularly receive#and i'm like. 99% healed from my trauma but like. every time i saw people talking about ''i never got to have a normal childhood'' and then#(cont) contrasted it with what we're fed in media. i think it's a deliberately manufactured lie#to instill complacency towards the mistreatment of children in people of all ages#like i think there are good parents out there but they certainly don't seem to be the majority. and good parents may not always overcome#(cont) the circumstances keeping them from providing children with the healthcare housing and education they need.
