Inside the living room, you sat on the floor, surrounded by colorful art supplies, while Jack busily worked on his latest school project. The grand space, often reserved for elegant soirées and refined gatherings, had been transformed into a cozy art studio for the day, with large sheets of paper spread out, and markers and paint scattered everywhere.

Jack, his little face scrunched in concentration, held up his creation for you to see. “What do you think?” he asked eagerly, showing off a drawing of what appeared to be a dragon, flying over a castle that looked suspiciously like your home.

You smiled warmly, leaning closer to inspect the details. “It’s perfect, Jack! I love how fierce the dragon looks. You’re getting really good at this. I'm sure your teacher will be impressed with your skills and give you a gold star for the fairy tale topic!” you praised, reaching out to ruffle his hair affectionately.

Jack beamed at your words. “I think Dad’s going to like it, too,” he said, glancing toward the doorway where Hotch had been watching the two of you quietly, his expression soft.

Aaron’s voice cut through the gentle ambiance. “I’m sure I will,” he said, walking into the room and joining you on the floor. His suit jacket was off, and his tie loosened for the first time all day, but he looked relaxed.

“Dad, look! I made the dragon like the one from the book you read to me last night,” Jack explained, already diving into another story about his creation.

You exchanged a fond look with Aaron, who smiled at the scene. This — these simple moments — they were everything to him. “I think we have a true artist on our hands,” Aaron said, his hand gently resting on your shoulder as he sat down beside you, his eyes were full of affection for the both of you.

You grinned, pulling Jack into a little side hug. “I’d say so. I think we'll need more wall space for all of his masterpieces though,” you teased, already scouting which painting you'd have to take down. It made Jack giggle.

Aaron chuckled softly too, his arm slipping around your waist as he looked between the two people he cared for most. It wasn’t the opulence of the mansion or the high-profile life that mattered to him — it was the warmth of the family you had created, the quiet joy of being together, and the love that effortlessly filled the room every time you were together.

I have a public service announcement! No one's done this lately so it's not aimed at anyone specific—but that's why I'm posting now, so it doesn't single anyone out.

It's true that, in-universe, Bill's said he's apathetic about what gender humans see him as. But you and I aren't in his fictional universe; we're in the real universe.

And out here in our real universe, when someone discovers that a guy they've ONLY ever referred to with he/him pronouns actually has breasts under his shirt? If that person is a conservative, they might start calling this man "she." If that person is more progressive, sometimes they start calling him "they." Like they'll respect that he's trans but refuse to respect that he's transmasc.

And because we live out here in the real world where I'm sick and tired of watching this happen, I'm also sick and tired of watching it happen to characters I write with he/him pronouns. Because multiple times I have had readers—nominally pro-LGBT readers!—start calling a he/him character I write "they/them" the second I headcanon him as transmasc or give him physical traits associated with AFAB bodies, in spite of the pronouns they see me use for him.

You've never seen canon call Bill anything but he/him. You've never seen the guy who invented Bill call him anything but he/him. Except when I write from the perspective of a character who literally DOESN'T KNOW they're looking at Bill, you've never seen ME refer to my specific interpretation of Bill with anything but he/him pronouns.

(And not to get too serious over cartoons, but—if you can't get a character's pronouns right after seeing me use THOUSANDS of he/him pronouns for him—a character whom you were INTRODUCED TO with the correct pronouns and whom you likely ONLY called by the correct pronouns for years, right up until the moment you saw him drawn with tits & hips—if the mere knowledge of his anatomy is enough to completely overwrite every single time you've seen & heard his pronouns used—then I worry about how y'all would talk about an IRL transmasc guy if you could see immediately that he's AFAB and only hear his pronouns once.)

Knowingly using the wrong pronouns doesn't magically become woke when it's gender neutral wrong pronouns. Stop ignoring the only pronouns you've ever seen me or the show call Bill. Do not misgender the silly cartoon triangle in my inbox & comments.

I'm GRUDGINGLY more flexible on calling Bill the wrong name, since I know sometimes y'all need to differentiate whether you're talking to me about the vague concept of canon Bill or, specifically, the copy of Bill undergoing the events in my fic, and using his in-fic "this is the name used by PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW WHO HE IS" nickname is convenient for that.

So, yeah, if you HAVE to, you can call Bill another name. But please know: 1) I dislike that; 2) I'd rather you only do it in contexts where it's necessary for clarity; and 3) even if you're calling him the wrong name out of grammatical necessity, it's still the wrong name.

'Why are you so strange for your kind? What makes you different?' Legitimate questions going through their mind as they observe you eagerly browsing the toy section of a store. You're... quite childlike, although alien is sure you're in adulthood for humans. It's a bit cute they have to admit, watching you hug a plushie to your just chest with the brightest smile on your face. Hmm...

They follow you home. They're a scientist after all! Their job is to investigate and that's exactly what they shall do, it's purely for research purposes.

Watching you regress is fascinating... they don't think it's a species wide behavior, but maybe something certain individuals do. For what reason though? They simply have to take you up to their ship to get to the bottom of it! (It's not like they want to take care of you, definitely not!)

They feel so bad when you're scared and crying- they didn't mean to make you frightened! Horrible at soothing you because they don't even engage with young of their own species often let alone a human that acts like a child at times- please stop!

Once you've settled down (exhausted yourself) they're picking you up and awkwardly rubbing your back. It's ok, they just need to borrow you for a bit and then you'll be returned home! It's like an um.. adventure! And they'll be so thankful for you helping them, you want to be a good kid, right?

(Alien spinning some sob story about desperately needing something to report.. pulling on your heartstrings and only feeling a little guilty for manipulating you, it wasn't a complete lie!)

When you're finally asleep they're looking up any resource on human young they can find- searching through articles and even parenting books. Determined to be good at looking after you even if they fumble and make mistakes. (Alien calling back to base to ask for advice.. why are they asking? No reason. They're just curious, commander..)

Bringing you toys from their home planet that you can play with as a "test" but really they just think it's adorable! Trying to quiet the pur in their chest as they observe you, tablet out for note-taking, which is actually them taking photos of you to look at later..

Another gift from the early 2000s. Is it cheesy? Sometimes. Is it adorable? Absolutely.

3. He's Just Not That Into You

Hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, ensemble cast, but the endings for each couple are undoubtedly satisfying. Plus, my favorite rewind moment of all time:

4. Crazy, Stupid Love

Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Steve Carrell, Josh Groban cameo. Need I say more? (But it will also unexpectedly grip your heart with profound, tender moments.)

5. While You Were Sleeping

One of my favorite Sandra Bullock rom coms, of which there are many. (Honorary mentions: The Proposal, Practical Magic, Two Weeks Notice, and Miss Congeniality, though it's not really a rom com is one of my favorite movies in existence.)

6. You've Got Mail

A classic of classics in rom com history. Meg Ryan at her best, Tom Hanks at his. She's a small, independent bookstore owner. He's essentially Barnes & Noble, coming in to disrupt New York with corporate America.

7. Mrs. Winterbourne

A forgotten '90s Brendan Fraser must-see movie. He's the "rich playboy" type, she's scrappy and resourceful, pregnant by her deadbeat ex-boyfriend, and pretending to be the widow of Fraser's twin brother, who recently died in a train accident.

8. Crazy Rich Asians

Based on a book, top-tier casting, bad ass mother-in-law, bad ass heroine, a classy, handsome, Good Man™️ hero? Sign me TF up.

9. 13 Going on 30

Easily Jennifer Garner's best movie, but also Mark freakin' Ruffalo. They're adorable together, and this one's a classic in its own right, full of heart, back-stabbing bitches, and 80s music references.

10. My Big Fat Greek Wedding

It's one of the best, folks. Also one of the most quotable movies in movie history lol. As a kid, I remember really identifying with Toula, who feels too plain, too big, too "frump girl."

But Ian never saw her that way. He genuinely laughs at her jokes. He's patient with her and sees her beauty, inside and out. He also deals with a lot of crap from her family in order to be with her, with all the grace and gentlemanly poise a guy could have.

And Toula learns to love herself, fall in love for the first time, and challenges every expectation of her family to do so.

OH YES! I have not written a scene for it since fall 2022 (hope I just made everyone in the fandom feel super old <3), except the one I wrote just now for the other WIP ask, so I'll tell you about it instead!

Slowburn enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, identity porn, two-person love triangle entirely sustained by Dream's own ridiculous beliefs. Very silly and fluffy, I think, except when it has to be sad. Big sappy happy ending, just like in the movie.

Hob, owner of The New Bookshop, like Kathleen Kelly, is prone to optimism to the point of denial of the fundamental tenets of reality and/or the bookselling business, and has a bottomless love for all the small pleasures of New York City in the fall, and indeed, all of life. He is a hapless business owner but a wonderful bookseller. He is a hopeless romantic with a faintly disastrous dating life that his friends and coworkers tease him about. Falling in love with a mysterious stranger he met online is only the latest in a long series of questionable decision-making.

Morpheus, CEO of Endless Books, unlike Joe Fox, genuinely cares about books and stories. Unfortunately, he has a plummy accent and an almost preternatural ability to come off terribly. He's very good at his job and not much else which gives everyone around him the impression he enjoys crushing small businesses beneath his heel. In reality, he mostly enjoys the company of his library, his personal assistant and best friend Matthew, and Jessamy, a beautiful silver GSP. (Because there is no universe in which I personally imagine Dream having a Labrador Retriever named Brinkley.) And writing to Hob, of course, who he is certain he will meet and love and marry, right until the moment he finds out it's Hob.

There is a whole ensemble cast including a little bit of Aziraphale

Instead of being obsessed with Godfather quotes, it's Shakespeare. Morpheus is a theatre kid who went to private school. Of course it's Shakespeare.

Rather than court Hob twice over as Tom Hanks does with Meg Ryan, Morpheus, after he falls for Hob, feels so utterly unworthy of taking what is being offered, and so convinced Hob will never want him once he knows who he is, that as soon as Hob (not him, Hob, important change) cheerfully bullies his way into his life after being put out of business, he spends all their dates trying to convince Hob to dislike his stranger.

They BOTH cry at the end <3

assim que eu vi a foto eu ENGASGUEI com a minha própria saliva porque tive flashbacks de guerra para o meu carlos favorito (ele de bigode na renault), mas agora o nosso divo tá mais maduro e eu não pude deixar de pensar em um cenário em que ele é um dilf recém-divorciado e que, muito sem querer, acabou se apaixonando pela vizinha universitária que o ajuda a cuidar do filho de cinco anos nas (raras) horas vagas.

aquele combo bigode + cabelo penteado pra trás me fez pensar imediatamente que ele tá envolvido com a máfia, mas vamos deixar essa fofoca pra outro dia hihi.. o que é importante aqui é que o carlos é muito egoísta quando se trata de você, a mais nova paixão da vida dele. tem vezes que, mesmo trabalhando de casa, ele vai te ligar, se fazendo de pobre coitado porque é pai de primeira viagem e é muuuito difícil cuidar de uma criança sozinho naquela casa imensa :/ e ele precisa da sua ajuda, poxa! e vai pedir que você tome conta do moleque durante o dia porque ele, como homem trabalhador, precisa se concentrar no escritório.

é a mentira mais ridícula de todas. assim que você chega na casa dele, carlos vai mudar todo o material pra sala de estar e vai ficar te observando tomar conta do garoto — não porque quer te marcar, mas é o jeitinho maluco dele. e acaba que ele vai ficar tão encantado pela maneira que você conversa com a criança que nem vai fazer muita coisa no trabalho. os pensamentos vão longe, te imaginando como a parceira dele, o ajudando a criar o moleque. uma fantasia onde você age como parte da família sem ele ter que te pagar pelo serviço de babá.

e quando eu digo que ele é egoísta é porque ele quer que todo o tempo livre que você tenha, aquele em que não passa estudando ou no seu estágio, seja dedicado a ele e ao filho. além de te pedir para cuidar da criança, vai sugerir que você fique para o jantar, ou te convidar para alguns eventos totalmente aleatórios, com a desculpa de que precisa que você tome conta do filho dele — mesmo que ele nem devesse levá-lo, para começo de conversa.

inclusive, acho também que ele demora alguns bons meses para dar em cima de você de vez. e quando dá, é impossível ser mais óbvio. carlos é lerdo? sim, e talvez justamente por isso ele não tenha tempo para fazer doce, ou joguinhos. além disso, passou tanto tempo fora do mercado que se sente um tanto enferrujado. penso que ele vai se sentir um pouco inseguro de primeira porque você é tão nova e tão… fora do alcance dele. o que você iria querer com um quase-quarentão com um filho?

se surpreende muito quando você aceita os avanços dele. e depois disso, não para mais. é como se você liberasse uma fera, de verdade. e saiba que carlos vai querer fazer todos os pensamentos que teve durante todos aqueles meses de pura tortura uma realidade. desde te foder no quarto de visitas depois de você ter colocado o filho dele pra dormir, gemendo manhoso bem no pé do seu ouvido pra você deixar ele gozar dentro até te chupar enquanto você tá sentada em cima da bancada da cozinha, deixando suas coxas ardidas com os beijos lânguidos que deixa na parte interna até suas pernas tremerem em cima dos ombros dele.

penso também que ele vai ficar se fazendo de homem paciente, mas vai constantemente negociar com você sobre ter um bebê, ou casamento…

you looked a little surprised by the question, honestly not expecting it before you let out a small laugh and then composing yourself. "hm?" you say, tilting your head to the side in thought.

"my favorite memory?" you repeat the question. "that's such a tough question," you say with a nervous laugh, "i think one that comes to mind is finally debuting and performing on stage with my members," you say after a few moments, you nod your head as you think back to how nervous you were when to finally debut and to perform. "i was a nervous-wreck the whole time, not being able to believe that i was actually getting to perform and become what i had given my teenage years to train for. it was unbelievable."

"but– if you want a more personal memory then it would have to be when me and san kissed for the first time," you say before immediately becoming shy and covering your face a little bit. "it was month after we had been officially dating and we were so shy and awkward during it. we were each other's first kiss and didn't know how to "correctly" kiss," you say using air quotes around 'correctly' before laughing. "i think its my favorite memory because it was our first of many kisses together and we were both young – like nineteen at the time – and i had confessed to having never kissed anyone before and then san also told me he hadn't either. and it was just... a fond memory i look back on when i think about my relationship with sannie and how not only my relationship with him as grown, but also how my relationship with the others have also grown." you finish nodding your head at your thoughts with a smile as you are once again thinking back to your first kiss.

"a little cliché to say my first kiss is my favorite memory, but i don't care," you say with a laugh and a large smile.

Another question! Okay sorry lol I have another question for the both arms cradle you now fic again! So when you answered my previous ask about our step mother and our step siblings I remember in one of the parts you mentioned that their where more siblings like our dad and step mom had more kids or am I wrong? If I am you don’t have to answer this ask! I was also wondering more about the neglect why did they now realize what they put reader/us through? You are right, I did write that! Thing is at the time I was still unsure of who all I was adding to the story as well as the timeline of events :p so reader now officially has two older stepsiblings and a younger half brother!

Reader was fourteen when they finally gave up on their dad, and moved away with their mom shortly after. They didn't want any contact with anyone from Damien's side of the familly, so the Christmas party is everyone's first time seeing them in years. (Four, since reader is eighteen currently in the series)

The first year reader was gone was a shitshow to say the least

Going no contact with everyone was abrupt, especially since the family as a whole was tight-knit. Paul eventually got a hold of reader's mom (she was ignoring Damien) and got a simple explanation that basically boiled down to 'ask your son and his step kids'

Lizzie is already in boiling water at this point since everyone was freaking out about reader being gone all of a sudden, so when she gets set down for some answers she immediately bursts into tears and confesses (miles is also in trouble, and he quietly confirms and admits his part of things)

After everything is out in the open, Damien is having a crisis. He's also sobbing now because he realizes that not only has he been a shitty dad and lost his kid, but you've been through so much (his baby, oh god, his baby..)

Paul has to leave so he doesn't just yell at them all for hours, but makes sure they know that they aren't allowed in his home for the foreseeable future (you can see that he's still really cold to Damien in 'villian and violent')

You know the saying absence makes the heart grow fonder? Dial that up to the extreme.

Everybody misses reader dearly (besides the step sibs at first), there's always a hope that there will be a phone call, a text, something, but it never comes.

Longing and longing and longing starts to turn into something different, because when reader is back (and they will be) what's stopping you from leaving again? Familly is important, even if you were wronged, how do they show you that you need them?
