Man I love Galaxy Quest so much, it has got to be my favorite parody movie ever because it’s more than a parody. The best example is “by Grabthar’s hammer, by Suns of Warvan, you shall be Avenged”. When we think of parody, we think of taking something that takes itself seriously, and turning it into a joke, but with “Grabthar’s hammer” it’s the exact opposite. When it is first introduced, it is a corny, cheesy nonsense line that Alexander Dane despises because it’s stupid, humiliating, and wastes his talent. Yet when it comes time to comfort his greatest admirer in his final moments, he turns it into the beautiful line in the whole movie.

Though time was endless to them, stretching out over the vastness of eternity as the world moved forward, [Y/N] still thought it was important to take breaks.

With eternity in front of you, it was easy to forget the little things, like this gorgeous view of the sunset, and [Y/N] never wanted to be the type of person who wasted that. “What are you doing?”

[Y/N] turned around and smiled as she saw Loki enter the room. Her beautiful trickster. She had been in love with Loki for as long as she could remember but thought him out of reach for a long time. He was brilliant, powerful, a prince, and she was…well…herself. Though she thought that a detriment, Loki seemed to find that a joy and returned her feelings. The two courted for some time and finally convinced Odin to let them marry. She suspected Frigga had something to do with that.

“Looking at the sunset.” She told Loki as she returned to her viewing. Knowing that he would come up behind her any moment. “It’s truly remarkable today.”

Loki hummed near your ear. As she suspected coming in close while her back was turned. “Remarkable? How can you tell? You cannot even see all of it from this place.”

The trickster’s arms wrapped around [Y/N] and there was a shift in the air. Suddenly, you were no longer in your little enclave looking at the setting sun, but high in the air. The roof top of the palace, she realized, far about Asgard as it stretched out before them. “Oh wow…..”

“This is my favorite spot.” Loki said. Taking [Y/N]’s hand and leading her most gallantly to a small railing. “Thor is intended to rule all of this some day soon, but he won’t have this.”

[Y/N] offered Loki a soft smile. She knew that Loki dreaded the day his brother would become King. Although she couldn’t be sure why. Was it because they would be separated finally? That it would be proven in its totality that Thor was the favorite and most beloved by the people? That Loki would just be his shadow for all time? Who was to say. What [Y/N] did know was that no matter what happened, she would stay by Loki’s side. “Thank you, for showing me this. It is truly beautiful.”

“It certainly is.”

The tone in Loki’s voice caused [Y/N] to turn, and she realized he was looking at her. Talking about her. She blushed and began to turn away again in embarrassment. But Loki caught her chin in his fingers and pulled her close. Kissing her softly as the sun finally dipped past Asgard and painted the sky in indigo hues. “BROTHER!”

The couple broke apart as they heard the loud boom. Only moments later followed by Thor landing, with equally thunderous force, near them. “There you are. I have been looking everywhere for you. Sif and Volstagg wished to train, and we wanted you to join us.”

“Sif and Volstagg?” Loki repeated cynically. Causing Thor to sheepishly shrug.

“Well…I wanted you to join.” Thor corrected. “Oh, hello [Y/N].”

“Hello Thor,” [Y/N] greeted, now that the singled minded brother had realized she was there. “Go on. Go ‘play’ with the others. I won’t keep you.”

“No! You should come!” Thor insisted. Never wanting anyone to be left out. “You are no fighter, but it is always good to have an honest party keep score. Someone,” he playfully punched his brother in the arm, “likes to cheat.”

[Y/N] chuckled at their antics and agreed to join if Loki was going. “I will go for one match.” He insisted. “I have better things to do then get trampled by brutes all evening.”

“Splendid!”

Thor left and the couple followed a few paces after him. “Looks like he found your spot.” [Y/N] whispered to Loki.

“Hmmm….yes. But he won’t have it for long….”

The shift in Loki’s tone made [Y/N]’s thoughts sputter a bit. Something about it seemed…off. It wasn’t the usual annoyance a brother had for his sibling, but something….darker. She couldn’t be sure, and considered it was just a passing thought.

Funny, how when the little things are bad, we forget them. Ignoring the dark in favor of sunsets, or the storms to come.

Chapter Summary: In which Sam is observant, Bucky is sweet, Helen is focused, and the team (sans you) checks out a mysterious castle in Sokovia…

“You really want to watch that shit?” asks Sam one afternoon in the common room, while you’re watching one of the worst of the talk shows, the one that likes discussing you and your pregnancy and the myriad of medical complications possible (most of which you haven’t had). Honestly, you’re not sure why anyone would even want to be pregnant, with how they describe the experience. You shrug. “Whatever they’re saying about me can’t be half as bad as what I’m imagining, now that I know they’re saying anything.” “Hmph,” grunts Sam, leaning on the back of the sofa. He watches quietly for a moment, frowning, arms folded across his chest. “Not sure I agree with that, but if it works for you, sure.” You both watch the talking heads for a few minutes—they’re still as full of themselves as usual, but eventually they transition to another topic, and Sam speaks again. “Different out there without you.”

Sam is Awesome and I should write him more often, like I did this week on AO3.

It’s been a while but I can finally gush about my favorite moments from Avengers Assemble Season 3, episode 21 “Building the Perfect Weapon” :D

So blah blah Truman Marsh kicking Hulk out of the Avengers and he is replaced by Red Hulk. When that’s revealed, welp chaos. Hulk runs away and gosh the rest of the Avengers go to run after him but Marsh tells them they have a mission to do.

Everyone goes back into the room except Steve and Tony and they talk.

“If he thinks I’ll go on another mission with that maniac..” Tony said, obviously frustrated.

“We have to make the best of it, Tony.” Steve replies seriously and not a second later he smiles at him rather fondly, leaning in to clasp his armored shoulder. “I thought you were a maniac when I met you.”

And HELLO?! Steve keeps his hand on Tony’s shoulder as they walk back into the room qwq. Also..I want to know the lore so bad why Steve first thought Tony was a maniac when they first met and how that opinion changed!!

Then mission and Red Hulk casually dropping military knowledge to everyone’s surprise.

After digesting the information, Steve moves his gaze to look back at Tony, who looks at him. “A maniac, huh?” Steve says in quiet disbelief.

(SHUT UP? It’s so silly that Steve brought that up since no one else on the team will understand that reference except Tony. Like, Steve looked back at Tony to bring it up)

As Red-Hulk suddenly charges, Steve backs up to be side-by-side with Tony. The two exchange sideway glances, Steve giving a knowing smile as he merely shrugs.

Tony looks away, muttering “Yeah. Maniac.” , unaware that Steve is still looking, and smiling fondly, at him until Tony begins ordering.

Like geez, Steve still smiling and looking at Tony even though Tony isn’t looking at him and only moves when orders are being delivered like okay sir good for you 👌

Anyways they find The Leader and fight Ultimo and I that fight scene because of Tony’s quick thinking planning!

He first tells Falcon to get Ultimo to chase him and Falcon does it without question until wanting to know what’s next. The Avengers trust Tony I love it <3

In the span of minutes, Tony asks for a cable arrow, compliments Clint’s shot, asks for it very nicely, connects it to the back of Ultimo’s head, orders Thor to electrify the cable, and boom, Ultimo is defeated. Like, YEAH! LEADERSHIP SKILLS, GENIUS SKILLS! The Avengers run so smoothly like woah.

Hehe Tony saying “that’s all” for his plan, and Clint laughs and repeats disbelievingly “Heh. That’s all, he says”. Shut up I love Tony downplaying his quick planning and the team refusing for him to downplay it since yeah, Tony’s a genius!

Tracking The Leader, the Avengers find a destroyed little town and try to find out exactly where he is. Red-Hulk is impulsive as ever, trying to rush things. While arguing, The Leader sent an energy wave to disable their tech. So, Falcon’s trackers don’t work and Tony, in his armor, can’t move o_o

Even more fun, a hole opens up and everyone’s falling!

Red-Hulk jumps using the rocky walls. Thor uses his hammer to hover. Widow uses a wire to hold onto a rock, with Falcon holding onto one of her legs. Clint uses an arrow and sticks it into the wall. Steve digs his shield into the side of the wall.

AHH! With his left hand, Steve is holding his shield and with his right hand, holding onto Tony’s gauntleted wrist. We can hear Steve struggling because Tony’s armor has got to be heavy, and remember Tony can’t move.

How does Steve have a good grip on his shield, with one hand, and the other hand holding Tony, whose armor is probably weighing them both down?!

Anyyywaaays!

Red-Hulk leaves all of them to get The Leader while Thor goes to save the others. Just as Widow’s wire breaks and she and Falcon fall down below Steve and Tony, Thor grabs one of Widow’s wrists. Thor then flies up, where Falcon reaches a hand for Tony to grab onto, so Steve and Tony are dragged up (since Steve is still holding onto one of Tony’s wrists). Clint grabs onto one of Steve’s legs and Thor drags everyone to safety, yippee! :D

Tech is finally back up and after running into a death trap with spikes, crushing walls, and lasers, the Avengers decide to fly out of there.

“Everyone who doesn’t fly, grab on.” Tony orders.

Falcon flies, no problem. Thor picks up Clint and Widow jumps down to grab onto Thor. Steve is the only one who jumps onto Tony and hangs on.

Like damn. Tony wanted to help everyone, but everyone’s alright. And Steve was so quick to jump onto Tony like geez, Steve is the only one who wants to be on Tony qwq. They are so powercouple <3

Episode ends with Red Hulk being turned into a gamma bomb, so extra flames, and the hint of Hulk going back to save them..to be continued..as the episode says!

Okay, the short version is: Go read my fic Let This One Remain and @rainintheevening's fic To the End...of Infinity

Or maybe that's the long version, because it'll take you a while to read all of that. Anyway, here is my non-story explanation:

Everything in Endgame stays exactly the same, we just didn't get to see what happens in the next five minutes after the end.

See, when Steve takes the Infinity Stones back in time to put them back, he can't deny that he's tempted to go back to some earlier, "easier" time in his life and just...stay there. He's tired, and he deserves a break. But that would mean leaving behind so many loved ones he has in the 21st century. Bucky. Sam. Sharon. All of the Avengers who are left, all of the friends he's made. And he's not the same man who went into the ice. The years have changed him, and he no longer fits in 1945. He no longer fits with Peggy.

But there's still someone who would fit into that old life. So he goes back to talk to himself in the bombed-out bar in London, right after Bucky fell from the train. He tells his former self that Bucky is still alive, that he can't give up, that he's going to crash a plane but will survive, so he needs to give someone his coordinates so they can find him. So he can find Bucky.

Then Steve goes back to the 21st century. The same Steve we know from the movies, going back to where he belongs. Meanwhile, in the other timeline, the other Steve follows his suggestion, is found alive in the Arctic much sooner, and is able to go rescue Bucky before he can be fully turned into the Winter Soldier. They all go home, Steve marries Peggy, and that's who we see dancing at the end of the movie.

Then, towards the end of his life, the alternate Steve gets another visit from his time-traveling self, who gives him a copy of the time-travel watch and asks him to come briefly to the 21st century to give the shield to Sam. So he does, and that's the old Steve we see in the movie.

The scene happens just as we see in the movie, with Bucky and Sam thinking this is their Steve who's come back to them at the end of his life. But right after the movie cuts out, the original Steve, the one we've come to know over the past ten years, steps out from the trees and is like, "Fooled ya, didn't we?" Then they thank the old Steve and send him back to his family in his own time. And the original Steve stays in the 21st century with his friends. He retires as Captain America, letting Sam take up the shield, and marries Sharon and finds other ways to help the world heal - as well as himself.

This fix-it is something @sergeanttomycaptain and I came up with literally within an hour of seeing Endgame for the first time, proving that we're better writers than whoever thought that was the right way to end Steve's storyline ;)

She held her phone an exasperated two inches away from her ear the following morning, staring dubiously over the heads of clustered agents at the newscaster that seemed to be screaming with near equal enthusiasm on a monitor a room over. 

New York was far from the beginning of the end. Unearthed with the sleeping super soldier was the Tesseract. Phase Two was born quietly.  May got a string of giddy texts and Coulson’s costume sketches in her email.
