other side of the moon - chapter one | formula one imagine
pairing: fem retired formula one driver reader x ??? fem retired formula one driver reader x platonic!kimi antonelli
chapter one: an offer you can refuse
years of solitude has led y/n y/ln down a dark path following her career-ending injury in 2022 but one rookie seems dead set on bringing her back into the fray

“have you seen this?”
it’s too early in the day to be subjected to twitter in y/n’s opinion, but her manager - the one she’s always insisted in not needing - insists upon it. sara’s hand shakes as she hands over her phone, the video already playing loudly.
the video is a poorly clipped together compilation of kimi antonelli, for no better word, gushing about her. it’s earnest and even cute, but not cute enough. the formula one paddock was a vulture pit, one y/n had only escaped three years earlier with her life - barely.
“it’s cool. that’s all it is though,” y/n moves towards the door, picking up her coat and refusing to turn back towards sara, “i’ve told you since jenson insisted i hire you, there’s no way in hell i will ever go back to that paddock. and that’s the end of it, please. i’ll do any stupid vitamin ad or female empowerment talk if it makes you happy, but i can’t go back there.”
y/n grabbed her keys and left the apartment, leaving sara in her wake. sara reached into her pocket and pulled out a tattered letter with ‘y/n’ scrawled on the front in awful handwriting. she left it on the kitchen island and left, understanding this was likely to be her last time in this apartment - there's stupid and there's what she was doing right now, there was no way she would still be employed in the morning.

girlsonthegrid: today we look back at the biggest what if for women in formula one - y/n y/ln. the 26-year-old drove for mclaren from 2020 to 2022 before she sustained a career-ending injury at silverstone. y/ln was the first ever female f1 race winner with her emphatic victory at monza in 2021 and the first ever female formula 2 champion with her win in 2019. her career lasted just 30 races and she hasn't been seen in the paddock or around any drivers since the crash. there have been reports that she has been approached about a mentor role but considering how fast her management rejected and shut down sky sports about a commentary role, this is also unlikely. what would you like to see from her if she ever comes out of hiding?
view all comments
user1: i mourn for her everyday
user2: the way she paved the way for so many but can't stand to be in the paddock to see what she did for the sport
user3: i really don't blame her
user4: doriane is the mercedes reserve and abbi is alpine's! her work is there even if she isn't and i know i'll always be grateful for that
user5: she's so overrated, if she didn't crash she still would've been out of formula 1 by now
user6: me when i'm the most wrong ever
user7: i can't believe there are still men to this day that think she wasn't great? literal world champions like max, lewis, fernando, seb and jenson have all said that she could've won a championship
user8: i mean no shade to lando but i think y/n would've made it 100x harder for max this season in that mclaren
user9: the way jenson tried to say that in the nicest way possible in las vegas lol
user10: and max agreed with him LOL
user11: the way it wasn't even proper lando shade or oscar shade like twitter painted it to be but like max just praising his bestie
user12: he does not play about her as he should
user13: i mean he's the only one we know y/n still actually talks to
user14: i can't wait for the tell-all biography that exposes half the grid because like how much have you must have fucked up for her to never speak to you again
user15: when twitter likes were public she was caught liking a bunch of tweets bout mick when he got his first points so like she doesn't even have hard feelings to the guy who put her in the barrier sooo
user16: it was proven it was break failure???? mick did nothing wrong that's why she still likes things praising him
user17: that crash really robbed us of the best ever f1 relationship with y/n and lando
user18: you know that's part of the reason that she doesn't speak to lando right?
user19: because she wished it was him not her?
user20: NO! because she hated that whole 'ship'
user21: and lando leaned into it way too much
user22: it made me a bit uncomfortable and i'm not even y/n
user23: AND she said on the beyond the grid podcast that she thought those rumours were really reductive and relegated her to just a love interest of her teammate rather than a race winner
user24: kimi antonelli please bring her back to us
user25: praying she'll listen to the literal child

texts between y/n y/ln (bold) and max verstappen (italics)
did u give them my fucking address
my lawyer says to always deny everything?
i also actually have no idea what you are talking about…
i just got home and there’s a fucking letter from KIMI ANTONELLI on my kitchen counter
it’s creepy and a mad invasion of privacy
i did NOT give them your address?
i gave them sara’s contact details so they wouldn’t be able to directly get to you and i honestly thought she would be too scared to ask you
she showed me all the clips of him praising me.
it didn’t work.
it’s been three years y/n…
and it still hasn’t been long enough.
all i’m saying is read the letter, as creepy as it might be, he is just an 18 year old entering the lion’s den you could at least reply to him even if you don’t take up the offer
although i read they were going to pay you £10 million a year??? was that real?
unfortunately it is very real.
i didn’t think i was still worth that much
you are worth that and more, just give him a chance. we’ve both met him, he’s a sweet kid.
for now.

it was cold in her apartment, y/n hadn’t shut the window from when she opened them that morning. in fact she hadn’t moved from the kitchen since she set eyes on the letter. it was bold she’d give him that.
the letter was crumpled as if it had gone through hell to get to her (it probably had) and the handwriting was a serious reminder of just how young kimi is. y/n had wondered if her maternal instincts would ever kick in like all the older women in her life insisted it would. sure she had felt intense feelings of love for her childhood cats and had cared her formula one cars (regina and heather, they were named after mean girls, because that is who they had to be on track) like they were children. but that true maternal feeling had never come to her, until now.
all y/n could think about was kimi. how young he was, how much he was set to lose. not everyone was her, the worst thing wasn’t going to happen to everyone - it just always seemed to happen to her.
her loud phone alarm jolted her out of her daydream, reminding her to take her painkillers. as she poured herself a glass of water, y/n slammed down the glass and ripped open the letter.
dear miss y/n y/ln my name is andrea kimi antonelli and i am going to be driving for mercedes amg f1 team in 2025. we met very briefly after i won all three races at mugello and lifted the italian f4 championship trophy. i know you were there on mclaren PR but for me it changed my life. you have always been my biggest inspiration alongside michael schumacher (i am italian, you must understand). it was always my dream to race alongside you and maybe even be teammates, i’d even betray toto and leave mercedes to make that happen (please don’t tell him i told you that). i know that can never happen now, but it could happen in another way? i know like me you grew up seeing niki lauda supporting and mentoring the mercedes drivers and i was wondering if you would be my mentor - who cares about george anyway. i know you’ve never come back to the paddock and are unlikely to do so for little old me. but if you could just think about it that would be great, if you don’t ask, you’ll never get! i hope this letter wasn’t horribly offensive, i mean it when i say you’re my favourite!!! love, kimi (p.s. i was at monza 2021, so you could even consider me a good luck charm) (p.p.s you won monza 2021 completely on merit but i was there) (p.p.p.s please don’t think i’m an idiot) (p.p.p.p.s i also loved interlagos 2020 that’s a super underrated drive)
with tears in her eyes, y/n placed the letter back on the counter, grabbed the glass of water and made her way to her bedroom. painkillers taken with a wince, she still hadn’t gotten used to the size of the pills even three years into taking them, y/n shuffled under the duvet.
the offer was there and it seemed sincere. her accountant would tell her that the money was worth the mental turmoil, even if she just did it for one season and returned to her little cave in west london.
there was no doubt she felt something for kimi - a kinship, a frienship or a maternal yearning - but was it worth ripping off all the bandages and opening herself back up to all the scrutiny again?
she would sleep on it.

user5: how about we keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth
user6: socials admin i know it is not you specifically but i really don’t know how you can post up here like you’re completely absolved of your involvement in this. your car had break failure that broke her fucking back - it is a miracle she is even still walking! and you still don’t accept any responsibility for it
user7: i love y/n but like how is it mclaren’s fault? break failure happens all the time?
user8: well it’s in one part the fact that they were using her as a test dummy because it was a new faulty part that mclaren was experimenting with that was on her car and NOT lando’s and the fact that to this day when they feel like it they’ll heap guilt onto mick schumacher
user9: without being disrespectful there were two formula one careers that were ended that day because mclaren have kept to the narrative that it was mick that put her into the barriers eventhough siedel admitted when he left mclaren that it was a faulty break part that caused it.
user10: clock it
user11: yes clock it but maybe on a different post because it’s y/n’s return to the internet and all yall can talk about is the most traumatic event in her life?

when she woke the next morning, y/n knew she had to read the letter again before jumping into anything. in her sleep she was plagued with memories of the past, but not the usual ones that haunted her in the dark. there were no flames, no hospitals, no career-ending injuries. no, this time she was transported back to 2020 and her first few races of her formula one career.
march 2020.
the paddock was much bigger in formula one than it had been in formula two with hundreds more people running around, barging through crowds, hitting y/n on the way through and not even stopping to apologise. she had thought briefly that she would be making more noise as the first female racer to take part in a race since forever - y/n even thought that she’d made a bit of a splash during preseason testing, nestled between her teammate lando and alex in the red bull in fifth.
but she was invisible. even with the garish orange path to follow to the mclaren garage, y/n struggled to get through the crowds of people brandishing their paddock passes. her trainer had gone ahead to set up her driver room which left y/n to push through and arrive to briefing ten minutes late.
“i’m so sorry, i got lost and by the time i was going in the right direction the paddock had filled up?”
y/n stammered, not quite able to make eye contact with zak brown. the american wasn’t tall in comparison to the general public but he towered over y/n and the disapproving stare didn’t do much to help.
“just make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
zak snipped, waving his hand in y/n’s direction, telling her to take a seat. y/n rushed to the nearest empty seat and looked for her teammate in the room. lando was sat just three seats to her right on a small table. y/n tried to make eye contact with lando but he avoided her gaze like it was burning him, so much for the ‘big brother’ act he had put on at the car launch.
the engineers stood in front of the screen and started their long-winded presentation about the prospects for the season ahead. y/n pulled her note book out and frantically started taking notes, she didn’t know if that was normal for formula one drivers, but knowing as much as possible couldn’t hurt.
y/n copied down the warnings about possible tyre wear in turn three when she heard some soft sniggers, like someone was trying to stifle their laughter. this drew y/n out of her focus on the presentation, looking around the meeting room to locate the perpetrator.
lando caught her eye immediately. he had a light blush across his face and his mouth was covered by his hand. he looked guilty, guiltier than the rest of the room who were listening intently to the engineers. y/n raised her eyebrow in question.
“i’m sorry are we distracting you two?”
zak interrupted the presentation, turning to look at y/n and lando.
“no, sorry sir,” y/n replied turning her chair back to face the screen. “lando?” zak pressed.
“i’m sorry zak but y/n was distracting me with her note-taking,” lando forced out between his boyish giggles. “i’ve never taken notes, i didn’t realise you would be sucking up to the engineers this early on?”
“i’ve always taken notes? is it a problem? i’m sorry if i was distracting you lando.”
“yeah we’ll see how much those notes help you on track, rookie.”
lando spat over the table. it was uncharacteristically mean for the lando she had seen in the mclaren social content and the lando she spoke with at the car launch. y/n felt tears prickle in her eyes but she swallowed them down, she couldn’t cry yet - or at least not in view of all the most important people on the team.
“right. we’ll get back to business then.”
the rest of the meeting went by in a blur for y/n, but despite the outburst from lando, she continued to take her notes, she would be damned if some comments from lando would fuck up her entire race weekend routine. y/n took her time when zak dismissed them from the meeting, not wanting to look unprofessional.
moving towards the door, y/n’s shoulder hit someone else’s. she looked up to make eye contact with lando yet again.
“you better not make a habit of making contact with me, rookie,” lando said, a slight smirk but a harsh look in his eyes.
“are you like okay?”
“why wouldn’t i be?” lando replied pushing past through the door.
“i don’t know, you’re just a little frosty this morning? did i do something?”
“why would i be thinking about you, seriously? this is my team, know your place and we’ll get on just fine”.
with that lando was gone and y/n was left puzzled. i guess PR really does work wonders, y/n thought before making her own way to her drivers room.
her trainer, luca, wasn’t there when she managed to locate the room but all of her gear was already neatly put away like they had discussed. y/n cracked open an electrolyte drink and opened her notebook to study the meeting points.
there was a loud knock at the door and before y/n could even utter a “come in”, the mystery visitor barged into the room. daniel ricciardo announced his arrival with a packet of tim tams thrown at y/n and a quick “howdy” before he started rifling through her stuff and studying her helmet.
“ah, another cool dude who has a cuddly guy on their helmet,” daniel said, picking up her helmet, pointing at the cartoon version of her childhood cat.
“oh that’s schumi, when we travelled for karting we always brought him up until he died of old age, but i still want him with me whenever i race.” y/n said, nervous that the heartfelt explanation would be deemed uncool by one of the coolest racers she had ever seen.
“oh that’s surprisingly cute, i bet schumi was a big hit in the paddock back in the day.”
“he sure was, he’s how i charmed max into not hating me after i took him out once,” y/n chuckled thinking back to the race where max stormed up to her with angry tears in his eyes until y/n practically threw schumi at him. in just five seconds, max had calmed down and schumi was happily purring in the young dutchman’s lap.
“that sounds like max. but speaking of the other young whippersnappers in the paddock, how is our lando treating you? i bet zak and that can’t keep up with you two…” daniel asked, slumping to the floor, taking one of her drinks from the mini fridge.
“oh. i am getting used to him, we’ll put it that way?”
“he’s not being rude is he?”
“no! well. he insists on calling me rookie and keeps making comments about me crashing into him and made fun of me taking notes in briefing but i’m sure that such the british banter.”
“you’re british?”
“well. um. yeah, you got me there.”
daniel grabbed her hands, forcing y/n to look him in the eyes rather than her very interesting shoes.
“i know lando is like some media darling, but so are you. don’t let him push you around, he may have been in this team a while but you’re just as good as him if not better. you’re here to prove yourself, not to play second fiddle, okay?”
it was the first time someone had actually tried to talk to her properly since getting to the paddock. again, tears climbed to her eyes, but this time she let one creep out. daniel wiped it away.
“we made the mistake of isolating max when he was young and new, we won’t make the same mistake - we can’t have two of you running rampant around here,” y/n let out a wet laugh which daniel returned, “just come to renault if you need anything from me. max will be there for you, you know, and seb, kimi, fernando and all the old men will listen to you. don’t rot in your drivers room or hotel suite and think you’re not wanted here.”
y/n nodded, feeling some butterflies in her stomach. she was actually here - a formula one driver. a seven-time race winner wants her here, world champions want her here. a private-school fuckboy wasn’t going to ruin her first ever race weeekend.
“thank you daniel.”
“i have to dash, but i’m serious, we’re here for you. and i would be honoured to kick that little shit’s ass for you, okay?”
the australian left in just as loud fashion as he came, but in the remaining silence, y/n finally felt some peace. this was her chance, and she wasn’t going to mess it up.
present.
y/n couldn’t let that happen to kimi. the young italian was just so unbelievably earnest in his letter that y/n couldn’t bear the thought of his kindness being taken advantage of. george russell had never been outwardly callous but with his attack on max late last season and his complete radio silence with y/n since her crash made her suspicious.
as she prepared to ask max for kimi’s number, sara (who did actually still have a job) sent her a link.
sara: zak brown believes mclaren has the strongest pairing on the grid with no more childish recklessness like in the early 2020s
sara: do you want us to put out a statement or ignore as usual?
y/n clicked on the link, even though she knew it would just annoy her to the point that her phone might become closely acquainted with the thames.
as the formula one world gears up for the 2025 season, zak brown has already stated his confidence for mclaren this season. the papaya team will be coming into the 2025 season as reigning constructors champions and lando norris and oscar piastri will be aiming to add the world drivers championship to that as well.
when zak brown sat down with us earlier this week, the mclaren ceo did not beat around the bush, stating that mclaren have the strongest pairing on the grid. with red bull promoting liam lawson in a test and, mercedes putting unproven kimi antonelli next to george russell and ferrari gambling with charles leclerc and lewis hamilton, brown might just be right.
in their journey to constructors champions, brown recognised that as a team they had straightened out all of their ‘growing pains’. this is exemplified in oscar piastri completing all laps in the 2024 season.
like they usually do, y/n y/ln’s particularly rabid twitter fans will probably detect some ‘shade’ towards the former driver. brown did touch on the prior mclaren drivers during his reign as ceo, saying that the team had some childish recklessness, but now they have a team that all know their place.
y/n y/ln hasn’t spoken about anything formula one related since her retirement, even forgoing the opportunity to congratulate the team that took the chance on her for winning the championship - something brown did not mince his words on off camera. brown lamented about y/ln’s silence, labelling her a brat and ungrateful for not still thanking him for allowing a woman to compete in formula one.
will mclaren make it back-to-back constructors championships? and will they sweep both championships this season?

she needed that loud-mouthed american’s head on a silver platter. the letter had almost sucked her back into the world of formula one, only for the man who discarded her like a broken toy when his car had malfunctioned and smashed her and her career into a concrete wall to call her an ungrateful brat.
fuck him. fuck mclaren. and fuck that dumbass reporter for giving him the time of day.
y/n didn’t throw her phone from her balcony but pulled up her texts with max.
texts between y/n y/ln (bold) and max verstappen (italic)
have you read this absolute hogwash
zak brown believes mclaren has the strongest pairing on the grid with no more childish recklessness like in the early 2020s
i 100% get why you wanted to put him in a wall last season
you watched last season?

did you text me just to call your old tyrannical boss a fraud?
i was going to ask for kimi’s number but now i’m back at square one
noooooooo
i want to be there for him, the way no one was for us.
but this is the bs they write about me when i haven’t been seen or heard from in three years, imagine the shite they come up with when i’m the paddock every weekend
WHEN?
no no no
i’ll give you kimi’s number
contact: kimi antonelli (mercedes)
you decide what you want to do
as much as i would kill to have you around the paddock again… even in the vicinity of george

SHOULD HAVE KISSED YOU
Pairings: Eddie Munson x Fem! Summary: when made to participate in a school fundraiser, Eddie finds himself actually having fun. Warnings: none PART 2 ANYONE?
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
"Mister Munson, you have to be a part of this school!" Principal Higgins exclaimed to the boy sitting on the other side of the desk, protesting
"I've been apart of this shitty school for 6 years" Eddie hummed lowly
"what was that?" the older man raised and eyebrow, his hands on his hips as he looked down at the rebellious teen in front of him
"what do you want me to do?" he got in response
"Miss Kelley is holding a fundraiser- u-an auction, of sorts.. you'll be participating"
Eddie frowned "an auction? what you want me to go up and hold items for people to bid on?"
"you'll be the item"
Eddie scoffed "what's that supposed to even mean?"
he stared at the principal and almost laughed, was this a joke? he fails a few times and is now being punished
"it means you'll go up and girls will bid on you- a date with you"
oh Eddie definitely laughed at that, does he think he's funny? he must because that was the funniest thing Eddie's ever heard
"yeah, right" he snorted
"Mister Munson, do you want to graduate this year?" Higgins asked rhetorically.
this wasn't a joke, this was serious
"what's a stupid fundraiser going to do to help me graduate?!" Eddie raised his voice before looking away when the man scolded him
"well, lucky for you, Edward, this school will do just about anything to get rid of you-" The older man started before getting cut off by Eddie
"-How flattering" he hummed
"-so, we'll be granting you with extra credit if you do this, and if you get at least a C in Miss O'donnells, it will be enough for you to graduate" the man finished, crossing his arms
"what type of fundraiser activity is that anyway! I'm no help, I can assure you no body is bidding on me, Higs" Eddie rolled his eyes
"well, lucky for you, you don't need to be bidded on to participate, just showing up is enough"
"this is ridiculous" Eddie mumbled, slumping down in his chair
there was no way he was going to do this.
"oh please, Mister Munson, It's not the end of the world, just a simple date to the fun fair is the most you'll do" Mister Higgins shook his head, deciding this was the end of the discussion.
he shooed Eddie out of his office after telling a few simple details about the night he should be ready for
"and please, have some school spirit" he said before closing the door behind Eddie.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
You sat in the school gym with your friends when Miss Kelley announces the boys up for auction
you had already seen the list a week prior and and had no interest, unlike your friend, Becky, who was more than excited to bet on a handsome mister Mike Lewenski.
your opinions on the fundraiser were mixed.
although a great way to make a few bucks, it was more of a way on telling which girl liked who. but even so, if they won the guy, it's a free date without the definite rejection most of them would face if they had just asked the guy out
so, while it saves a few rejections here and there, and could be seen as a trial run for a relationship, it's also a pit of thirsty women who want to dig their teeth in to a free date with a cute guy, especially if it's Gary McKlaren.
so to say you were the least interested was correct, but you were open to any changes if proven wrong.
The boys walked in the Gym single file and lined up behind Miss Kelley
you snorted at the sight of Eddie Munson 2nd last in line
you had browsed the list at least 3 times, you think you'd notice his name on the paper on the notice board. he must have been a last minute addition, which is pretty smart if you look at how many girls there are in school ready to bid.
but Eddie Munson, the freak? were they having a laugh?
you'd spoken to the guy a max of 5 times this year, he wasn't actually as bad as people made him out to be.
you weren't friends though; you wouldn't go that far. you'd be metaphorically killed if you were associated with him, so God forbid that ever happening.
Eddie huffed, looking out to the Gym seats.
he'd rather be doing anything else right now other than being at school, on a saturday afternoon, ready to be humiliated in front of what looks like 100 girls he's never spoken to (and doesn't plan to)
he frowned at the outfits the other boys had dressed up in, adorned in button up shirts and trousers, some even had a bowtie around their necks.
He mentally shook his head at the effort, because as they all dressed up fancy, like the organisers of this stupid even told them to, Eddie was still dressed in his normal attire, Black jeans and a dio shirt, his leather jacket hiding the cut off sleeves Eddie had fixed it up with. it's not like he was here to impress anyway
he would be here for 30 minutes max before driving back home alone.
"lets bring up our first boy of the evening, shall we. Toby Glover, everybody!" Miss Kelley claps.
She went on to describe the boy, hobbies, likes and interests before looking out to the crowed
"starting the bid at five dollars!" she smiled before a girl put her hand up, then a few others
Toby was baught at 20 dollars to Tracy Dekert.
then the next boy was up. Dylan Mantella.
it took a few seconds for a girl to put her hand up. but then another one did.
Dylan was bought for 10 dollars by Gracie Moore.
Jason Carver stood tall as he took a step closer, immediatley being bought by Chrissy for 5.
Then it was Mike Lewenski.
"He likes to play Football and the band Queen" Miss Kelley smiled
Becky's hand flew up as soon as the teacher announced 5 dollars, and glared at the girl on the other side of the bleachers when she outbidded her
"15!" Becky yelled out before the other girl said "17!"
they went back and fourth a few times before the other girl huffed and ran out of money
Mike was bought for 23 dollars by Becky, who cheered beside you
Then it was Gary McKlaren.
Miss Kelley didnt even get to describe his hobbies before a bidding war broke out. at least 10 girls fighting for him
yeah, he was popular. it made sense
Gary was bought for 50 dollars by Denise Weller.
Brian Gibley was bought for 5 dollars
Matthew Schneebly was bought for 25 dollars
and then Thomas Smith stood there for a few moments
that was when 2 girls put their hand up
you weren't sure if that was out of pity or they were just too shy to put their hand up, But Thomas looked like a whole bunch of weight lifted off of him when he was bought for 8 dollars
"now we have the...lovely Mister Edward Munson!" Miss Kelley announced, she looked nervous as she said his name, trying to find a praise but had to lie through her teeth
Eddie stood forward and clicked his tongue, looking out dully to the seats of girls and young women.
"E-Eddie likes um- Metal music? and uh- is a owner of a club" she spoke, she didn't know anything about Eddie, only that he was a satanist.
"5 dollars?" She announced with a tight smile, looking out to the crowd
you looked down at Eddie from your seat
his hands were in his pockets, he definitely didn't want to be here, but you could tell by the silence in the room he was...insecure?
you looked around the room, did no girl want him? did no girl see anything in him?
surely there was one girl to look past the scary demeanor of his figure and see something to like, but the only thing to hear was an awkward cough
you frowned, you felt bad, you really did.
Eddie looked down at his feet when Miss Kelley spoke into the mic "no bidders?" she asked as if she didn't know no body wasn't going to buy him
you closed your eyes and slowly lifted your hand.
it was just because you felt bad
"oh, we have a bidder! 5 dollars going once, twice, SOLD!" she banged her gravel on the wood. surprised.
Eddie munson was bought for 5 dollars. by you.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Eddie was surprised when you put your hand up.
but Eddie was very Surprised to see you walk up to him afterwards, a smile on your face, a tight one, he knew it wasnt real
"hey" you greeted
Eddie looked at you confused, like you had grown two heads or that something was wrong with you, but he replied nonetheless
"hi" he said
you looked around the hall, seeing the floods of single girls walk out of the hall, glaring at you with the same look Eddie had a second ago.
"so um-" he licked his lips, sighing
"we don't have to go on the date.." you spoke in a rush, looking back at him
of course, Eddie thought to himself, of course you wouldn't want to go on a date with him
Eddie kicked himself for thinking you would for a split second.
"if you don't want to" he shook his head
this was awkward.
so awkward
"it's not that I.. don't want to. i do...but you- you probably have better things to do so..." you hummed, rolling on your ankles as you looked away from him
"I dont...and I don't want you spending money on me for nothing.." he mumbled sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck.
you were probably the first girl to talk to him, Willingly, without buying drugs- the first girl to be nice to him to his face.
Eddie doesn't get that often, or at all for that matter, so you were...special. you could say. to him.
you weren't friends, you probably didn't want that. and he doesn't blame you, but it still hurts deep down, where he wont admit it
"it's fine.. it would be embarrassing to be the only person who didn't get bought so..."
yep, that was the only reason you bidded on him, you both thought to yourself
"yeah, I guess you're my saviour, then" he joked, though he didn't find any humour in it
Because you had told him you bought him out of pity, thats not funny or you being nice, thats just sad.
you agreed to the joke and looked around, the hall was empty now, all the girls gone, a few out to their date and all the rest on their way home, alone. some going to the fair with their friends.
"I'll uh- see you next week then?" you stepped back, going to walk away
"I thought you wanted to go?" he frowned
"i thought you didn't?" you raised an eyebrow
"eh.. i feel like i owe it to you, besides i think Principal Higgins and Miss Kelley will be there and if they don't see us- or at least me there, I won't get my credit cause i left you" he shrugged
that was it, it was just for the extra credit
"ok, sure" you nodded
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
you walked side by side into the fun fair, you were a little nervous to say the least but it's not like you were gonna be here for a long time
Eddie had said he owed you and just wanted to be seen, so he'd probably just say a quick hello to the principal and spend five bucks on a quick game before calling it a day
that seemed fair, though.
he brought you over to the little games with various toys hung on the wall
"you wanna play a game? i'll try to win you a bear or somethin'" he looked down at you, pointing to the stall where you shoot at a few cans to win
you shrugged when you met his gaze, his big brown eyes full of the bright colours from the lights flashing from the games, the yellows and reds illuminating his face as he turned to you.
he looked pretty good
"sure" you replied shortly, looking away from him, letting him guide you to the line.
his hands were in his pockets as he looked around briefly. it made you wonder if he wanted to be here.
but on the inside, Eddie was almost shitting himself, cause here he was, in the line of a game with you next to him. this was a date, unadmittably his first date- if it even counted
and it's not just because it's a date, it's because it's with you, the only girl- bloody hell- woman that's ever been nice to him. to look at him like he's not a freak who sold his soul to the devil.
and God, did you have to look so pretty good?
he looked away when you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and stepped forward, it now being your turn
the guy spoke enthusiastically, explaining the rules as Eddie picked up the fake gun.
you took the time to scan over the plush toys, the big bat hanging upsidedown from the roof of the stall made you smile.
you smiled at Eddie as he lifted the gun to his face, squinting his eyes before shooting his first shot.
your eyebrows raised at his shot, impressed as you stood beside him
Eddie lowerd the gun, putting another pellet in the gun when he caught your gaze, looking over at you awkwardly
you blinked and smiled tightly at him before looking away "did- sorry did you want to shoot?" he frowned, now noticing that he should have let you play- or at least asked you
"oh no, it's ok I uh- I don't know how to shoot a gun" you breathed, letting out a dry chuckle
"it's pretty easy, here" one of his hands let go of the gun to each out for your own hand.
you let him take your hand and you tried to hide the blush rising quickly on your cheeks, looking away as he pulled you closer
he stood behind you, his broad chest against your back as he instructed you, you held the gun with his hands over yours, his arms wrapping around your frame to help you
"Just look through this little hole right here." he pointed to a little circle on the top of the gun, and you slowly raised the gun to your face, quinting to look through the hole.
"aim it" he told you
you lined it up with the can and he took one of your fingers to place it on the trigger.
the feeling of his hot breath fanning on your neck sent shivers down your shine as it contrasted with the cold brisk air, but you were so hot right now.
did he have to be so close to you?
he waited a second before he pressed on your finger, pressing down on the trigger, shooting the gun.
you closed your eyes as the loud bang and the feeling of him pressing up against you. Why did you like it?
"ahh good try, you just grazed it" Eddie spoke, mumbling something that you couldn't here before you opened your eyes
you could see a little dent in the can but it hadn't toppled over or fallen, signifying a miss.
you shoulders dropped and your frowned, looking over your shoulder to see Eddie smiling softly
"you'll get it this time" he reassured you, lowering the gun
you shook your head "i'll let you do it, you obviously know what you're doing" you flushed, smiling before stepping to the side to get out of his hold
it was then when Eddie realised that he was manhandling you and his eyes slightly widened. Had he made you uncomfortable? he really hoped he hadn't. he dropped his hands and let you slip away from in-between him and the gun and looked away sheepishly
you finally felt like you could breathe as you let out a deep sigh you didn't know you were holding
why was he making you feel this way?
Eddie put another pellet in the gun and shot it effortlessly before he put the last one in.
he didn't even flinch at the loud bang! noise it made when he shooted, or lost his footing, he was a natural.
you don't know what you expected though, he looked like the kind of guy who knew how to shoot a gun, he had that look to him
you didn't want to say it but- he did have the dangerous kind of look to him, but throught the few talks you've had with him, you would hightly doubt he would even shoo away a stray cat if it made home on his porch.
he put the final pellet in and aimed it before shooting it, you watched as it bounced off the bar and fall back to the ground.
you smiled and clapped when the guy announced a winner
"so..what will it be for the lovely lady?" he said looking at you as you stood forward.
the long haired metalhead looked over at you, nodding to the wall of toys.
you opened your mouth, and your eyes landed on the bat again, pointing up at it "the bat?"
the man smiled and got the bat down, passing it to Eddie as you backed away to get out of the line, which was small but growing impatient.
Eddie followed after you and handed the bat to you.
"here ya' go" he smiled.
the bat was even bigger than it looked, bigger than your head, at least.
you brought it up to your chest and thanked him before walking awkwardly away from the stall
"you're pretty good with a gun" you said break the silence between you and him, the blush on your face appearing again as you looked over at him
"yeah? well.. my dad taught me when I was younger so... had a good teacher I guess" he let out a breathy chuckle, kicking his feet.
of course. everyone knew the stories of AL Munson. so your weren't surprised when Eddie told you he made him go hunting with him before he got sent to prison
"made me shoot more than just tin cans.." He shighed
you hummed, walking towards the enterance before Eddie stopped you
"Where are ya' going?" he asked, a deep frown covering his features as he looked around
you grew confused too "I- I thought we were leaving?"
Eddie's face dropped at your words, looking down "oh. I mean if you want to. I just thought- I- I was kinda havin' fun. with you so..."
Eddie was having fun with you; it wasn't a lie. he didn't want to leave just yet, he wanted to play a few more games and if he got lucky, get to know you more. he doesn't know exactly why but he knew he liked being with you tonight
but it's probably because it's either this date with you, or a lonesome date between him, his couch and a cold can of beer.
you stepped back to him and smiled "I am too... I just thought- but yeah, let's go"
the sky turned dark as Eddie and you played a few more games and shared a fairyfloss stick.
you were having fun, laughing and getting embarrased when you got shoved closer to Eddie when a few kids ran past you to the rotating tea cups.
"sorry" you mumbled, stepping away from the metalhead as he tensed up at the contact.
"'s'okay" he smiled, noticing the way you hugged the bat plush in your arms
it was night time- and winter. So were you cold?
so he asked you "d'ya want ma'jacket?"
he frowned when you shook your head quickly "no it's ok, don't worry"
you felt your cheeks grow hot again as he began taking his leather jacket off, exposing his biceps arms that were adorned in dark tattoos.
the bats caught your eye.
you had seen them before, of course, but they made you frown
you looked down at your bat plush toy and hid your face in it sheepishly
when it caught your eye, you didn't know why you were drawn to it the way you were
it reminded you of something, but at the time you picked it, you just couldn't pinpoint it
but now, looking at his tattoo, you realised it was that and you grew embarrassed, did he think you wanted it because of him? well technically you did- no, no you just liked it...right?
"it's ok, really" you shook your head as he handed it out to you
"Please, I don't want you to be cold" he pleaded
he was such a gentleman, you don't get why people did see that, there was something clearly wrong with society to shut out this beautiful specimin of a man like him, he's just so kind and gentle. no- snap out it.
you squeezed the fluff of your plush as he draped it over your shoulders, smiling
"what about you?" you wondered
he only shrugged "m'fine" he looked down, putting his hands in his pockets "as long as you're warm"
you chuckled softly as you looked around
"ferris wheel?" he asked after a beat
you looked to the ferris wheel and nodded "sure"
you let him guide you and you smiled as you got the line
the fair music filled your ears as you slowly moved up the line.
the line was pretty long, trying to see the lights from above and the kids thinking they can see the whole town from the top. they were wrong but let kids be kids, you thought.
when you reached the front, you stepped up and Eddie quickly handed the guy a few coins, letting your guys on. you sat down, your bat plush sat on your lap as the guy pulled the bar down, letting it click before leaving you with Eddie in the closer proximity
your shoulder to shoulder with Eddie when it began to move. going backwards
you looked over at him and smiled sheepishly before looking away
he cleared his throat before pointing to the bat you were cuddling
"do you like bats?" he questioned
you looked down and shook your head
"no..not really. I just thought he was cute" you shrugged
he hummed "have you named him?"
you giggled "no, not yet" you looked at him, finding a teasing smile on his lips and you furrowed your eyebrows.
"I don't- It might be childish, but I don't have a lot of them..." you soft quietly, fiddling with your fingers as the ferris wheel went up again
"No.. I.. I don't think it's childish.. I have a uh- I have a bear on my bed.. Ozzy... so. it's cute" he nudged your shoulder softly
you smiled, still a little embarrassed but it made you feel better that he admitted that.
you think it was cute.. that he of all people slept with a teddy bear, you feel as though you've learnt a lot about him today
it's almost like this wa a real date.
it made you hope he thought it was a real date too.
"do you..like bats?" you pointed to his swarm of bats tattooed on his arm
he looked down and nodded
"yeah I guess.. it's more of that they are seen for good luck and uh..protection.. I guess" he mumbled the last bit
you raised your eyebrows "really?" you tilted your head
"yeah.. don't know where i found that but I though i needed it so..."
"cool" you nodded
his eyes met yours again and you saw his adams apple bob in his throat as he looked at you
your bench stopped at the top as fireworks began exploding in the sky, painting the sky in all different colours, but you didn't look away from Eddie, for some reason, your eyes stayed on him
the sprays of colour reflecting in his eyes as he looked back at you. you wonder if he could see the fireworks in your eyes too.
"thank you, for today.. I've had fun" you spoke, wanting to ease this tension in the air.
"Yeah.. I've had fun too... with you" he said
you didn't know what was happening. why butterflies filled your stomach and made you feel sickly.
Eddie was shitting himself again, the look in your eye made him so weak he was happy he was seated. you looked so pretty in this light. it almost made him want to thank Mister Higgins for making him do this. but after this, he woudn't have any reason to talk to him unless it's to tell him he'd be graduating.
he can't explain how he felt in this moment, but all he knew was that he really wanted to kiss you.
but you don't want to kiss the freak? no matter how many times you've told him you don't see him as one, that's what he is, what he always will be.
Besides. You did this out of pity, right?
Amd it's not like he likes you, right?
but all Eddie can think of as he forces himself to look away is that he wants you to like him
he wants to know why he feels this way, why the burst of colour in the sky wasn't the only fireworks in the air tonight.
he had taken you home after that, sadly saying goodbye as he drove you home, the only sound in his van being the metal music he set to low as he thought about how much of an idiot he is.
all while you had felt completley embarrassed, and if you're going to be honest, a little angry, though you're not sure why
you wanted him to kiss you, but why? you didn't like him like that, this was just because you felt bad
but you wanted him to like you.
I should have kissed him, you thought as you walked into your home.
I should have kissed her, Eddie thought to himself as he drove off.

I already explained why statistically, much more MAGA cultists are likelier to have a concealed carry permission.
So?
The Democrats do not want to disarm people, that’s still a Right-wing underdog fantasy.
Plenty of Democrats explicitly want laws against "assault weapons" and other gun control. Including Biden.
They just want the minimal amount of gun control required to stop the weekly massacres which, surprise, are not prevented by other gun owners.
Turns out mass shooters often target places where random people are unlikely to be carrying guns. And sometimes that still doesn't work.
Also, America has more guns than people. An estimated third of the country owns guns. 100+ million people.
52 shootings a year is not actually very bad by comparison.
Also, most criminal shooters don't own guns legally anyway.
Also, Hitler passed plenty legislation to gain the favor of everyone who owned arms.
Nice argument, Senator, how about you back it up with a source?
Don’t try to educate a German on Nazi history.
Turns out your nationality doesn't actually keep you from being wrong on Nazis.
Such as forgetting, missing, or ignoring how the Jackboot Jerries loosened gun control, especially for Nazi Party members, but they also screwed over Jews who wanted to own guns.
You know, the people the Nazis wanted to violently oppress and murder.
Stop projecting and read one of the few history books that haven’t been banned by Republicans, dumbass.
Again, you are claiming there's evidence that backs you up, and offering no actual support or sources or even the name of a specific book you're referencing.
It's nobody else's job to support your argument.
I mean, there’s other countries where people can own firearms pretty easily, and they don’t have weekly massacres. The Dems don’t want to take all the guns away, that’s what the Reps are putting in their mouths.
I like how you said "don't want to disarm people", and now it's "take away all the guns". This is a standard motte-and-bailey.
"Disarm people", logically, includes any disarmament, of more than two people.
But when you slide "all" in there, then wanting any amount of disarmament that leaves a single person with a legally owned gun (or other weapon) qualifies.
It's a common strawman. The right is, broadly, opposed to any disarmament.
Speaking of, here's failed Presidental candidate Kamala Harris;
“I feel very strongly that it’s consistent with the second amendment to say we need an assault weapons ban. They’re literally tools of war they were literally designed to kill a lot of people quickly.”
Harris is wrong in several ways.
There are more US civilians with "assault weapons" than there are US soldiers, period. The current 5.56 NATO calibre was chosen for suppressive fire, which is mostly not supposed to kill people.
And even that's currently being phased out in favor of more powerful rounds.
And then we come to actual use. If you combined every rifle homicide in America, they'd be less popular murder weapons than handguns. Or knives.
Or bare hands.
Rifles are rarely used to shoot actual people, even in self-defense.
Also, the term "assault weapon" was made up to make certain guns sound scarier. There is no consistent social or legal definition, and most people who use it, I suspect, have no idea what supposedly makes the guns deadlier, on a factual level.
Also, she supported Red Flag Laws. Which are literally about disarming people.
Come to think, I don't think there's any point in this debate that you describe what actual specific gun control measures you support.
A lot of gun control supporters have that issue, actually.
BTW, last time I checked the numbers for in Germany, y'all had an estimated 20% of the population owning guns, compared to America's 33%. Even if I changed the criteria to just the amount of guns, the gap was even larger.
And Germany's homicide rate and mass shooting rate are still much lower than America's. Even proportionately.
Which actually indicates gun laws and ownership are, at best, not the only issue in play.
Also, I'm from one of many, many countries with a higher gun homicide rate than America, despite less legal ownership and more gun control.
I personally knew at least three people who were murdered with guns in my home country.
One of them was murdered down the block from the school my cousins happened to be attending at the time.
The school I went to.
The school my aunt used to work at.
Here's an Example as to why Donald Trump is fascist
Donald Trump wants Concealed Carry Reciprocity.
What is that?
In the United States, it is not automatically legal to carry a firearm in a concealed manner just because one has a firearms license. One needs to obtain a special additional permission to do so. Like most things in the United States, Concealed Carry is decided on a state-by-state basis, meaning a person's permission for Concealed Carry only applies in the state it in which it was issued.
Concealed Carry Reciprocity is the legal concept that a permission for Concealed Carry, issued in any state, applies in all states. So, if a gun owner was permitted to Concealed Carry in Oklahoma, he can currently only do so in Oklahoma. Doing it in any other state is a crime. Under Concealed Carry Reciprocity, it would not be.
What does Donald Trump intend with this?
Donald Trump knows that his most loyal followers live in deep red states, which also have the highest concentrations of gun owners. Due to the high concentrations and due to Republicans being generally against gun control, it is likelier that more gun owners in red states have Concealed Carry permission. Donald Trump wants to allow people to Concealed Carry in any state if they've received permission in one, because he knows that most people who will take advantage of this will be his most loyal followers.
Donald Trump plans to lay the groundwork for his version of Mussolini's Blackshirts and Hitler's Brownshirts, his own paramilitary force of loyal followers who are ready to attack and murder fellow citizens in open daylight for their political positions that oppose their idol. Concealed Carry Reciprocity makes it easier for them to do this.
This is fascism.

How did you get into selling your ceramics? I'm interested in selling my stuff but have no clue how to begin
I started out selling on Etsy. I think it was a decent place to start. unfortunately the site’s definitely gone downhill since 2020, when I started. posting on Etsy did make it obvious that I had to learn to take good pictures, and taking that step has been a huge help in the long run.
in 2021 my spouse @subpar-lemon-bar and I set up some tables with a few other potters, outside my parents’ house, and sold my work. the sale went ok, though most of the people who bought my work were friends or acquaintances lol, so it’s debatable whether it would have been a success without their support
after that, I sold my work at a few local craft shows, sales, and a maker’s faire. some of them went great, a couple of them went badly. but it was a good experience and I think it was helpful for me to talk to so many people at events about pottery and art.
the easiest way to start that is, unfortunately, to know someone who organizes or sells at craft shows or markets, but you can also find yearly local markets and apply to be a vendor when they’ve got an event coming up.
I was offered a couple tables by artists who knew me and after we’d done a couple shows, we got to know a lot of the other vendors. you also need a decent amount of pottery if you’re selling at a market, unlike selling online.
in-person sales are a ton of work, and by the end we were always exhausted. but overall, we made enough money and enjoyed enough of it that it was very worthwhile
once I started this tumblr, I found I didn’t really need to do in-person shows. I never have to worry that my work is too weird or too naked or too queer on tumblr, whereas craft shows in a fairly conservative area were… not suited to all my work lol. I got a lot of comments on any piece with nudity, and not all of them were kind.
I also had a few of my pieces for sale in a local coffee shop for about a year. nothing sold, it just wasn’t the right place. I tried selling through instagram stories too, a bunch of potters would sell their work at the same time and post each other’s work. I didn’t sell anything. it was early on and I was a little disheartened.
if things aren’t selling, that doesn’t mean your work won’t sell. it might be that you haven’t found the right place for it yet
good luck!

Had an idea for a video game reverse transmigration AU so here goes:
There’s a popular online cultivation game called Proud Immortal Demon Way that’s been making the rounds recently due to a new encounter players might run into that was unlike anything they’d ever experienced in other games.
In this encounter, the atmosphere would dim out of nowhere and from a distance, a boss character would start approaching them. Suddenly, their character would be grabbed out of nowhere by the incredibly handsome and imposing figure with red and black robes, a black sword and a full mane of hair. The man would look at their character before dropping it while clicking his tongue, usually saying something like, “Another empty husk…” before turning to the player’s screen and staring at them for a few moments. Even if the player tried to attack the boss character, it would ignore the attacks, hardly gaining any damage at all.
Then the character would furrow their brows and turn away. “You’re not the one.” he would say, and he would leave through a portal made with his sword.
The encounter happened only once per account, and the only hint that it was about to happen was a small voice calling out “Shizun?” from off-screen.
One day while Shen Yuan, under his somewhat popular streaming name PeerlessCucumber, was grinding enemies before a big raid, he heard the iconic and long-awaited “Shizun?”.
Rather than run away or attack like most players did, Shen Yuan was excited to finally, FINALLY get to see this legendarily unbeatable and good-looking NPC for himself and happily ran up, chattering happily to his viewers as he wanted to show them what usually happened when one encountered this particular boss.
The boss started his usual routine, picking the player character up and tossing it aside with an annoyed mumble before turning to the screen— no, to Shen Yuan.
His head tilted then and that— that wasn’t part of the routine.
A somewhat unsettling smile made its way onto the character’s face as he approached the screen, seemingly getting closer to Shen Yuan.
“Found you, Shizun.” he said.
That was the last time anyone saw the boss in-game. There was a video clip roaming around of PeerlessCucumber’s facecam, where an arm reached from off-screen into his room, strangely from about where the man’s screen should have been.
Then the stream cut and PeerlessCucumber hadn’t streamed for over a year.
When he came back, however, he introduced his new husband, Luo Binghe to his viewers. His new husband looked strangely familiar to anyone who'd played Proud Immortal Demon Way.
If anyone feels like expanding on the fic feel free, this brainworm was stuck in my head and I have too much homework to write anything longer than this 😅

Evan Buckley was made to save lives.
Literally.
Selected to amplify the healing abilities that had already manifested in his sister, Philip and Margaret Buckley allowed Manifest Bio Tech to harvest the necessary cells and tweak them.
But nature or fate still had a say, and Evan didn't emerge a healer.
++++
Evan was made to heal, but the only person he could heal was himself. He still got hurt, but his recovery time was four to six times faster than regular, unaltered humans.
They tried harvesting his bone marrow to replicate the effects but it didn't work.
Daniel still had to die, the cancer in him too resilient against even the harshest of treatments.
When they buried Daniel, Evan had barely begun to learn to walk. If he hurt from the extractions, his parents didn't know or care; Maddie's tears would ease the physical pain anyway.
++++
When Evan ran away from home to get Maddie to flee with him, Doug flipped out. He needed Maddie's tears. They were the secret to his success as a doctor.
She didn't run. She didn't even meet him to tell him why.
Evan drove away, full of a helpless fury at his sister and at himself.
++++
Across the world, Tommy Kinard was gaining a reputation for surviving unlikely odds. But when the options were death, maiming, disfigurement and merely broken bones, there was only so much Tommy's ability could do. But that tiny spark that danced up and down his spine got him to bank sharply just before they were hit, so while they crash landed with injuries, they were not blown up to smithereens.
He received a medal and promptly shipped home to the States to recuperate, and he insisted on remaining in Los Angeles where his grandmother lived. Since he needed a job, he decided to join the LAFD.
Because of Tommy, Nonna had another eight happy years with her beloved grandson. On her last birthday (not that either of them knew that), she bought a lottery ticket and had him check it.
The effect of his ability was dampened slightly since she was the one who made the purchase, but it did make Tommy's life after Nonna a lot more comfortable.
After Nonna died, Tommy felt that little tingle that said something unlikely was about to happen. The very next day, an opening in Harbor Station for a trained pilot opened up.
Tommy knew that was for him.
++++
Evan ended up in Los Angeles, and after a series of gigs, decided that he might as well risk his life and limb for good reasons than bad. His accelerated healing stood him in good stead, too, though he had to choose a different name.
Fire, falls, explosions, water, lightning; Buck survived them all.
And then he met Tommy.
++++
The moment he saw the three from the 118, he felt that telltale zing running down his spine.
Unlikely odds.
Not Chimney, that was for sure; they had encountered each other often enough.
Soulful Eyes shook Tommy's hand. Nothing. "Eddie Diaz."
"I'm Evan, Evan Buckley," says the pretty guy with the kissable lips and fingerprint-sized splotches of wine pink on his left eye and brow.
"Tommy Kinard, hi," said Tommy. He braced himself for the moment they made skin contact, and there it was - the spark, racing from the point of contact over his skin all the way up and down his spine.
Unlikely odds.
++++
They still broke up.
Before he drove over, he had felt the telltale tingle along his spine, and he should have known that it was only for the parking spot, and not for Evan to say, "I am falling in love with you."
There was nothing his ability could do in this case.
++++
Buck didn't know why his healing abilities refused to heal the hurt or fill up the emptiness in his heart. He baked and baked and baked, and each time he was done, he wanted to call Tommy and tell him about what he made.
And he would bake some more.
Maddie who hardly cried nowadays gave him a vial of her healing tears, to be added to any recipe of his choice.
He added it to a simple brownie recipe. It didn't help.
++++
While he had sort of vaguely wished he had healing abilities that could have helped Daniel, Buck never cursed his abilities more than when they raced to rescue Tommy and the patient he and his partners were transporting.
"I don't need to heal me," he begged the fates that had granted him his power. "Heal him. Save him."
Tommy smiled, feeling consciousness about to slip away. "Evan, what are... the odds for me... to have you as my last?"
"You know what's less likely?" Buck demanded through his tears. Droplets fell on Tommy's upturned face. "That you make it through this unscathed and we get back together and we have a happily ever after. Focus on making that happen!"
A tired tremble raced over Tommy's skin and down his spine. He smiled to himself and murmured, "As you wish."

one of the rotten ones
rottmnt word count: 2k pairing: don & leo, don & OC title borrowed from anthems for a seventeen year old by yeule part of the archer au :) read on ao3

“I don’t think Gio likes me,” Donnie blurts.
He’d feel self-conscious if he was pressed to admit it anywhere else, but he’s in the infirmary, and the only one around to hear him say so is his twin.
They’re moving into hour two of Leo’s “faves” playlist and the fourth consecutive Taylor Swift song even though he swore he put it on shuffle. Leo is going through cabinets and shelves systematically, updating inventory on his phone, while Donnie infodumps about energy storage and projectile dynamics and the breaking strength of crossbow string.
Donatello’s base knowledge of this particular ranged weapon is severely lacking, which is a significant personal problem for him now that he has a sibling with a preference for archery. He needs to be the world’s leading expert on the subject yesterday. He has half a dozen half-formed plans for things like sonar bolts for 3-D mapping, which may or may not have been inspired by the Jupiter Jim Pluto Vacation run.
Only every glance at the project folder simply labeled ‘G-01’ causes an uncomfortable feeling to squirm to life in his stomach, not unlike the Krang tentacles that had attached themselves to his carapace on the day the world didn’t end.
Donnie isn’t good at people. He doesn’t know how they tick, and there are no reliable lines of code or handy user manuals that he can fall back on when he’s mystified by human behavior.
His siblings don’t have the same problem. Leo is perceptive to a degree that borders upon clairvoyance, Mikey is the single-most emotionally intelligent member of their family, Raph is more charming than he gets credit for, and April can talk her way through any closed door, police tape or VIP-only entrance. None of them fumble the way Donnie does when a social interaction goes off-script, like it’s a volleyball that got served his way without the ample warning he needs to be anything approaching passable at the sport.
But he knows he’s not imagining it—the way Gio seems to brace himself when Donnie comes into the room, like he’s expecting a confrontation every time. Like the last thing Donatello could want with him is something good.
Donnie can be a lot. They all can. They come by it honestly, equal parts chaotic lab experiments and their father’s sons. And not every structure is built to withstand hurricane winds. Not every person is equipped to deal with a Hamato level weather event.
But he has never seen Gio flinch away from anyone else.
So he did what he always did when confronted by something outside his formidable repertoire—he took it to Leo.
There had never in Donnie’s life been a problem that couldn’t be made into their problem. It came with twin territory.
And Donnie’s twin in particular is good at translating Donatello and translating other people for Donatello, and jumps on any chance to be helpful and feel wanted, and absolutely loves problems. It’s one of the most annoying and endearing things about him. If there is any trouble within a hundred miles, Leo will find it. He will worm his way into the center of it and then puzzle his way out from the inside. Most other clever and curious people were satisfied by the daily Wordle; Leo would chew through a wall unless he had something more hands-on to occupy his mind with. As polar-opposite as the two of them could be in, in that regard, they were one and the same.
It’s somewhat reassuring to Donnie that Leo’s immediate reaction is plain incredulity. He looks baffled, like Donnie has just started throwing stuff around the room for no reason.
(He knows better. In the medbay, of all places, that would be a death wish. Leo runs a tight ship here and only here.)
“Sorry, you don’t think Gio likes you?” Leo says slowly. “Our Gio? The guy who let you infodump about the mycelial networks of fungi to him for almost two hours, all because Mikey mentioned he was making mushroom stir-fry for dinner?”
Donnie scoffs, but he can’t help but feel warmed by the reminder. Gio had settled right in, the way he always did once he was sure of his welcome, and watched Donnie talk like nothing more interesting existed on this side of the equator.
“His eyes didn’t even glaze over,” Leo goes on, doing what he always does and pressing the advantage. “That’s a new personal best in this family. Even April started looking for a window to climb out of at the thirty minute mark.”
“There was bound to be at least one other mutant turtle in the New York metropolitan area with an appreciation for botany,” Donnie says imperiously, tilting his chin up.
But the worry is still there, firmly rooted, trying to flower. Leo must be able to tell because his frown deepens, playfulness evaporating by the second. He pauses the music and sets his phone down. The room rings in the sudden silence, but it’s not uncomfortable, because it’s a room Donnie exists in with his twin.
“I just want him to like me,” Donnie says. It’s a childish want, it makes him feel half his age, but it’s true.
He was never one of those human kids lingering near the playground, on the edge of the classroom, desperate to fit in. He was never on the outs because he never had the chance to be. But this is probably what that would have felt like.
Giorgio is quiet by default, absorbing everything with dark brown eyes, always pausing to think before speaking in a low, flat register that is becoming as familiar to Donnie as Raph’s comforting rumbles and Mikey’s energetic shrieks and Leo’s sweet or sly laughter.
He hasn’t been anything but kind since he got here. He saved Leo, brought him home from a place it should have been impossible to come home from, so Donatello would put up with any manner of assholery from that quarter in exchange—but it’s not that at all.
Once Gio’s initial guard goes up and then comes down, once they outlive that moment of consideration that verges upon scrutiny without ever crossing the line, the eldest turtle softens for any younger one like clockwork. He indulges whatever noise or nonsense they’ve brought with them like there is no better use of his time.
It doesn’t seem like a lie. But Donnie is the least qualified person he knows to make that judgement call.
There’s a lot at stake if he’s wrong, is all.
Leo looks like Donnie has taken a melon baller to his insides just for fun.
“I’d know if he didn’t like you,” Leo says with absolute certainty. And he probably would. And he would take it so personally. He wouldn’t let Gio know a single moment’s rest until the spotted turtle had a coming-to-Jesus moment and acknowledged his wrongdoings in canceled Youtuber apology video format.
Since that isn’t the reality they live in—and Leo’s daily relentless pestering of Gio is harmless and little-sibling-shaped and decidedly not mean-spirited by any stretch of the imagination—some small part of the tight, unhappy feeling in Donnie’s heart has no choice but to accept that as the compelling argument it is.
“He probably misses you, Tello,” Leo adds, something softening in his face that it hurts to look directly at. “His you, I mean. I know I would be a train wreck cosplaying as a person if I had to go someplace I’d never see you again. Can you imagine how screwed-up I’d be?”
Donnie’s whole soul shudders at the idea, at the nightmare that almost came true when the portal closed around the Technodrome and as good as severed Donnie clean down the middle. At the glimpse of a life he’d be forced to live with one leg, one lung, one arm, one eye, half a heart.
“That’ll never happen,” he says, a little too loud.
“You’re stuck with me,” Leo agrees. He means it, Donnie can tell—even after that almost-nightmare he put his family through, he means it. It’s one thing to take the nuclear option at the actual on-paper end of the world, it’s another to sit in a safe, warmly-lit room with his twin brother and try to conceive of an existence in which their dynamic duo was whittled down to a solo act.
When they were little, Donnie once tried to explain how big the unobservable universe was. He told Leo that light from the big bang hadn’t reached Earth from all the way over there yet. It was a concept he struggled with as a child, that something could be so unknowable and immeasurable.
“That’s how big my ‘I love you’ is,” he said, all of seven years old and putting it into words the best way he knew how.
“I love you bigger than that,” Leo said promptly.
“Ugh, you can’t,” Donnie said, frustrated at his twin for always trying to one-up him, for not understanding the huge thing Donnie was trying to compress and fit into his hands. “It’s not possible.”
“It is,” Leo said firmly, eyes gold to match Donnie’s, warm and shining in a way that was all his own. “I do.”
And then Leo went on to prove it. In a way Donnie never would have wanted him to—in an explosion that split the sky and left flash burns in their eyes, and the hollow pain of a surgical removal as the still-beating heart of their family was cut away, and the discordant electronic fuzz where a beloved voice had been rushing through last words, replaced by the sound of a radio without a signal, a device unpaired—but he proved it in a thousand other ways, too.
He was even proving it now, this afternoon he spent leaning on a forearm crutch and ambling around to various shelves and cabinets to keep up with his stock of medical supplies that had been severely depleted in the weeks after the invasion. Leo had carried bandaids and lidocaine spray in a tiny tote bag since he was two feet tall. He couldn’t stop bad things from happening but he could try to make the bad things better.
He’s looking at Donnie like he would right every wrong for him if he knew where to start. Like the unobservable universe was small enough to fit in his pocket compared to the lengths Leonardo would go for Donatello.
Leo is the younger twin, but sometimes the only thing there is for Donnie to do is shuffle over and bonk their foreheads together and believe him.
“If Gigi hated you, he wouldn’t be a Hamato,” Leo announces, muffled and silly and entirely correct. “It’s a prerequisite. You must have missed that meeting with HR.” And then, because it’s important, he whispers, “I promise, okay?”
“Okay,” Donnie whispers back.
At about that moment, TSwift’s I Think He Knows comes on, proving once and for all that there is actually no way Leo’s playlist is on shuffle. The weighted moment they’re holding on tight to transitions into a lighter one that gets flung haphazardly around as an immediate life-or-death struggle for the phone ensues.
Stalemate is only reached when Splinter barges in to read them the riot act for daring to roughhouse while they had a non-zero number of broken bones between the two of them. Leo is bright-eyed with mischief and already fast-talking their way out of trouble the same effortless way April can rattle off her brothers’ favorite coffee orders, and Donnie’s worry has been soundly evicted, all its belongings in boxes in the yard.
Sitting around has never been his style. He’s a turtle of discovery and invention. And now that he’s been reassured that the absolute worst-case scenario is not on the table—that it, in fact, was never on the table to begin with—curiosity rears its head and snaps up the dregs of anxiety like a hungry wolfhound who mistook it for an unattended rack of lamb.
He wants to know why Georgie is being weird, if it’s not dislike of Donatello. Leo’s certain it’s not, so certain that he was willing to promise, point-blank and absolute, instead of being tricky and sly in the name of cheering Donnie up instead. Which means it must be something else.
So after dinner a week later, as the whole family crowds comfortably around the banana split bar spilling across the entire kitchen island and argues over which toppings Gio and Casey should stack their bowls with first, Donnie blurts, “Can I see your crossbow?”
Giorgio really is one of the clowns in this circus. He proves it by putting his ice cream down, and picking the bow up from where it was relegated to the bench seat where everyone tosses their coats and shoes when they get home, and passing it right over. No normal person would put a loaded weapon in Donnie’s hands just because he asked nicely.
As if in tacit agreement, both of Casey’s eyebrows shoot toward his hairline and Raph makes incredulous scoffing noises. April says, “You did not just—” at the same time Splinter blusters, “Purple, you fire that thing off in this house even once and I am grounding you from everything you know and love, including Orange!” and Donnie screeches, over Mikey and Leo’s hysterical laughter, “I can be trusted with projectile weaponry!”
The crossbow has been carefully maintained, but it hasn’t been used in weeks that Donnie is aware of. They’ve all stuck pretty close to home since the invasion, and it’s not like Gio knows anyone but them—it’s not like they need firepower for grocery hauls or pizza runs, though, knowing their luck, that could change any given day.
But Gio still cleans it regularly, and he’s become a familiar sight at the kitchen table; parts spread out on an oil-stained rag, meticulous and methodical with the one belonging he brought here with him from the future other than the clothes on his back and the colorful friendship bracelet on his right wrist.
It’s important to him, clearly, but he’s letting Donnie handle it with an indulgent look on his face. Like there are no better hands to leave it in than his little brother’s.
Because he’s at risk of having a whole emotion about that out loud, where his entire family is assembled to witness it, Donnie quickly turns his mind onto the much safer road of gadgetry.
He has never actually held a crossbow before, has never built or used one, but he’s been doing a lot of research. He has a lot of ideas. He wants to print mechanical broadhead arrows with explosive tips, or tear gas canisters, or EMP charges. It’s a brand new world of creative chaos and that’s not even touching all the build customizations Donnie has in mind. His fingers are already itching to dismantle and reassemble the machine into something better, something that won’t ever fail, something his big brother will love.
Only—huh. What feels like a low-level electric current thrums to quiet life like it was waiting to be noticed by the right pair of eyes, just enough of a static shock to get his attention and guide his hand to the rail. Glowing purple does the work of an allen wrench in seconds and a handful of screws clatter to the table. Donnie removes the scope in one sure motion, and moves on to snap the rail from the stock.
Raph says, low and warning, “Donnie,” intimately familiar with gremlin gadget mode and all the kitchen appliances and shared toys destroyed in Donnie’s early years in the name of science. But he’s not breaking this time, he’s just looking.
He flips the rail over in his hands and finds the source of that odd electricity-conductive feeling. Hidden on the underside is a small embossed logo that Donnie would recognize anywhere, because it’s his.
“A-ha!” he says, absurdly pleased with the discovery. “A Genius Built mod.”
The rail was one of the first things he’d had in mind to upgrade, but it looks like he’d beaten himself to the punch.
“With a custom rail, we can add whatever attachments we want to the stock, way beyond just an average scope or a rangefinder,” Donnie says eagerly, his mind darting ahead in three different directions at once. “The world is our oyster, Georgie!”
He can’t help grinning. His logo on Gio’s prized possession is that last little bit of evidence he needed. He’s never been happier to be wrong, and will endure Leo’s smugness for an unheard of two entire business days before initiating retaliation.
No version of Donatello would put that mark on anything unless he really cared about it.
And Gio wouldn’t lift the rail from Donnie’s hands, and touch his thumb to that stylized “D” as if to prove to himself that it was real, an expression of painful wistful longing on his face, unless he really cared, too.

A Letter From Inquisitor Lavellan to Dorian Pavus
//OOC//: Hello again! These letters won’t leave my brain so I’m churning them out while the muse is there. Enjoy!
My friend,
I can practically see you brooding, you know. Which is your right and your past-time, by my count.
I won’t sit here and try to make excuses for my choices, there are no good ones anyway. I want you to know that no matter what, I never meant to hurt you. But that doesn’t make you less angry with me.
Perhaps I’ve caught you in a more benevolent mood, willing to hear me out. If Bull is near you when you read this letter, remind him that he owes me one. Or more likely you’ll crumple up this letter, probably set it on fire, and only spare a thought for me when you’re telling embellished stories around a gorgeous dining table. Either way, you are owed an explanation.
I remember when you told me of your intentions to try and change Tevinter. I was so proud of you, because I knew if anyone could make change in their home, it was you. The idea of watching my friend leave, knowing that it would be unlikely we’d see each other more than a handful of times among the years, was difficult to swallow. Especially after all you did to bring me back to life when Solas left.
You can say his name, you know. He isn’t going to appear around a corner and lunge at you. I’ve made him promise not to.
What you did for me in the months following his departure is a debt I’ll never be able to repay. I’ve known the love of a mother, a father, a lover, and a friend, but perhaps yours exceeds all of them. For yours is a loyalty, a steadfastness, a patience, that only comes with knowing someone completely and choosing to be with them in their dark moments.
Bathing me when I was covered in paint. Filling the endless silence of my despair with your constant prattle, being with me every single day I didn’t know what to do or how to move forward, it is a love I had never experienced or will ever experience again. It is unique to you.
When I finally came back to myself all those months later, realized you’d put your plans on hold for me, I was appalled. I assured you I would be fine and you finally went on your way. To start the life I knew you deserved. And look at all you’ve done! Minrathos and the Shadow Dragons would be nothing without your leadership.
I’ve spent the last eight years wondering what I would ever do if the chance came to see Solas again. In those first years, I was angry. And then I was lost, for a long time, though I think you were the only one who truly saw it.
Being the Inquisitor gave me purpose. I knew Thedas needed me. I wanted to help in whatever way I could, especially considering we’d inadvertently unleashed Solas on the world. And then there was the waiting, wondering when he’d strike. If he really intended to take us all down with him.
Over the years, I’ve spoken to so many about whether or not I believe Solas capable of tearing down the Veil. You, Bull, half the Inquisition, really. Most everyone agreed that Solas needed to be stopped by any means necessary. That he was a monster.
What was your poetic phrase? “A madman with the moral superiority of a guilty noble.”
Varric was the only one who believed Solas could be swayed. Told me that really, all Solas wanted was a reason not to go through with his plan. After what happened when Solas took my arm, I didn’t want to believe him. It was too painful to hope.
But then the reports came in, bit by bit from Varric. Noted from Solas, personal journals. Like he was leaving clues for us to find. As if his pride refused to relent but Solas, my vhenan, wanted us to stop him.
It wasn’t until I spoke with Rook, actually, that I knew for certain that if I saw him again, when I saw him again, things weren’t through between us.
Call it soulmates. Call it a connection through space and time. Or, call me a fool, as you already have. All are probably correct. But I’ve know since the moment I met Solas that something tied me to him. When I saw him again, I didn’t see the Dread Wolf. I saw my vhenan, beaten and broken and tired. Drowning in his regrets, a slave to what he thought was his journey to redemption. And in that moment, I swore Varric was standing there right beside me, telling me that the one thing that would sway Solas was love. And he was right.
Especially after his final encounter with Mythal (That is another letter entirely. One I know you’re dying to read, so if nothing else, allow me to indulge you in my next response)
To be perfectly clear— I do not love him more than you. I could love no one more than you. No matter where I go, I’ll be with you. Just as you told me when you returned to Tevinter. But it is different. Just as you have Iron Bull, and we both know logic has no place in your relationship with him.
*the last sentence is a crossed out line, still legible, as though Lavellan is teasing Dorian*
Now, this isn’t goodbye. This isn’t even see you later. Solas has assured me I can enter and leave the Fade whenever I choose. Thanks to Rook, there are plenty of Eluvians available for me to come and visit. If you’ll have me. I understand you plan to pout, to hate me for a few weeks, as is your right. Don’t brood too long, however. I know you’re chomping at the bit to know all that’s transpired.
Just know, I’ll never be far from you.
With love, always,
Elliana

𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 | Gregory House x Reader
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 | none.

Working under Gregory House was never a dull experience. His brilliance was undeniable, his diagnostic acumen almost superhuman. But House was also infuriating, sarcastic, and often downright impossible. He pushed people away with barbed words and an infuriating smirk, seemingly intent on keeping everyone at arm’s length.
Except with you, something was different.
Sure, he still annoyed you, pushed your buttons, and left you wondering if the job was worth the headaches. But there were moments—rare, fleeting moments—when his sharp edges seemed to dull. His comments, while still cutting, carried less venom when directed at you. And then there were the looks, those lingering glances that stayed just a moment too long.
You noticed, and so did everyone else.
Wilson teased him mercilessly, his smirk widening every time House refused to admit it. Cameron’s glances between the two of you grew increasingly smug, though she said nothing aloud. Even Foreman, ever the pragmatist, had given up rolling his eyes when House let one of your quips go unchallenged.
Still, whatever “this” was between you and House remained unspoken. That is, until the day the tension boiled over during a particularly chaotic case.
Working under Gregory House for almost a year had been an experience unlike any other. He was a genius, a diagnostician with an unparalleled mind, but he was also maddeningly sarcastic, infuriatingly smug, and impossibly difficult to work with. He didn’t just push buttons—he dismantled the whole control panel, leaving chaos in his wake. And yet, despite it all, there was something about him. Something that made your irritation with him feel oddly thrilling.
You couldn’t explain it fully. Maybe it was the rare moments when his sharp edges seemed to soften, or when his insults carried a faint note of humor rather than malice. Maybe it was the way his piercing blue eyes lingered on you a beat longer than necessary. Whatever it was, it had everyone in the department whispering.
Wilson, ever the meddler, teased him relentlessly. Cameron shot you knowing smiles that bordered on conspiratorial. Even Foreman, perpetually unbothered by office drama, raised his eyebrows when House didn’t fire back at one of your comments. But House himself? He never acknowledged the tension between you, not outright. He left it to simmer unspoken, content to dance around whatever it was that existed between the two of you.
That is, until one chaotic day when the tension finally boiled over.
The team had been locked in the conference room for hours, debating a case that refused to fit neatly into any of their theories. House was, as usual, taking a contrary position just to irritate everyone, but today, you weren’t having it.
“It’s not vascular,” you said firmly, your voice cutting through the noise. “The symptoms don’t match, and you know it.”
House leaned back in his chair, twirling his cane lazily. “Of course they match. You’re just too blinded by your need to be right to see it.”
The argument escalated, your voices rising as the others watched in a mix of amusement and thinly veiled exasperation. Finally, you’d had enough.
“Okay,” you said, standing straighter and crossing your arms. “Let’s settle this. If I’m right, you owe me dinner. A real one. None of this takeout-in-your-office nonsense. I mean an actual, proper dinner.”
The room fell silent.
Cameron’s jaw dropped, her eyes darting between you and House. Foreman smothered a laugh, coughing into his hand. And Wilson, standing off to the side, froze mid-step before his expression morphed into one of pure, unrestrained glee.
House’s smirk faltered for a moment as he stared at you, his brows furrowing slightly. “You want me to take you to dinner,” he said slowly, like he was testing the idea in his mind.
“Yes,” you replied, refusing to back down.
He tilted his head, studying you with a look that made your pulse quicken. “And if I win?”
“I’ll take your clinic hours for a week,” you said confidently.
“Two weeks,” he countered, leaning forward now, his interest piqued.
“One week,” you said, your smirk mirroring his.
For a moment, he didn’t respond, his eyes narrowing as if he were trying to gauge your resolve. Then, finally, his lips curved into a slow, sly smile. “Fine. But just so we’re clear—I’m not going to lose.”
“We’ll see,” you replied, turning back to the whiteboard. But just as you started to write, you glanced over your shoulder and caught something unusual. House had opened his mouth as if to say something, then hesitated, his eyes darting away from yours.
“Wait,” you said, raising an eyebrow. “Are you… scared?”
“Of you?” he scoffed, though there was an edge of something—maybe unease—in his voice.
“Of losing,” you teased, letting a playful lilt creep into your tone. “Or maybe it’s the thought of a real date that’s making you sweat.”
That did it. His jaw tightened, and his smirk returned, though it was weaker than usual. “You’re delusional,” he said, his voice low. “Fine. You’re on.”
The rest of the day was a blur. When the test results finally came back, confirming your theory, you made sure to deliver the news with as much fanfare as possible.
“Well,” you said, dropping the file onto House’s desk with a triumphant grin. “Looks like you owe me dinner.”
House glanced at the file, his expression unreadable. “Lucky guess,” he muttered, though you caught the flicker of something nervous—something almost excited—in his eyes.
From the doorway, Wilson’s voice rang out. “Did I hear correctly? House is going on a date?”
“It’s not a date,” House snapped, glaring at him.
“Definitely a date,” Wilson said, smirking as he walked away.
The days leading up to the dinner were surprisingly tense. House seemed off. He was still his usual sarcastic self, but there was an undercurrent of something else. Something almost… nervous. You weren’t sure what to make of it until Wilson cornered you in the cafeteria.
“Go easy on him,” he said, his tone serious for once.
“Go easy?” you repeated, raising an eyebrow.
“He’s not used to this,” Wilson explained, his voice softening. “Letting people in. He’s going to act like he doesn’t care, but he does. Just… don’t hurt him, okay?”
You smiled gently. “I’ll be careful.”
Wilson didn’t let House hear the end of it.
“A date?” Wilson had said, grinning like a Cheshire cat, his eyes twinkling with barely contained amusement. “You’re taking her to dinner? Actual food, actual conversation? How very un-House of you.”
“It’s not a date,” House snapped, his glare sharp enough to cut glass. He shifted uncomfortably in his chair, twirling his cane idly as if the motion could deflect Wilson’s relentless teasing. “It’s an obligation. A bet. You think I want to waste my evening on small talk and overpriced food?”
“Oh, come on,” Wilson countered, leaning against the edge of House’s desk with the kind of ease that only comes from years of knowing exactly how far he could push. “You’ve been pining after her for months. Everyone knows it. Cameron has a betting pool going on when you’ll finally admit it.”
House snorted, shooting him a look of pure disdain. “I have not been pining. I don’t pine.”
“Right. Sure. That’s why you actually listen when she talks, why you’ve stopped insulting her intelligence during differential, and why you stare at her when you think no one’s looking.”
House opened his mouth to retort but quickly closed it again, scowling. Wilson’s grin widened.
“Don’t screw this up,” Wilson said, his tone softening. “I mean it, House. You’re a train wreck when it comes to relationships, but this? It’s different. She’s different. You might actually like her.”
“I don’t like people,” House shot back, though the bite in his voice was weaker than usual.
“No, you don’t,” Wilson agreed, straightening. “But you like her. And that scares the hell out of you, doesn’t it?”
House didn’t respond. Instead, he tapped his cane against the floor, his expression unreadable. Wilson, sensing he’d hit a nerve, let out a sigh.
“Just… try, okay? For once in your life, don’t sabotage something good before it even starts.”
After Wilson left, House sat in silence for a long moment, staring at the wall as if it held the answers to all his problems. He hated how well Wilson knew him.
He wasn’t nervous, he told himself. That would be ridiculous. He was Gregory House, for God’s sake. He didn’t get nervous. Yet the closer the dinner loomed, the more unsettled he felt.
By the time the evening arrived, he had paced his apartment twice, discarded three potential outfits, and spent an embarrassing amount of time convincing himself that showing up late would make him look more aloof, not anxious.
When Wilson showed up uninvited—“just to check in,” he claimed—House nearly shoved him out the door.
“Relax,” Wilson said, ignoring the glare House shot him. “You look fine.”
House glanced down at his crisp blue shirt, the one he’d finally settled on after far too much deliberation, and muttered, “It’s not about looking fine.”
“Oh, so you are nervous,” Wilson teased, his grin infuriatingly smug.
“I’m not nervous,” House snapped, grabbing his keys. “I just don’t want to spend an entire evening pretending to be interested in—”
“In someone you actually care about?” Wilson interrupted, raising an eyebrow. “Face it, House. You’re scared of screwing this up.”
House’s grip on his cane tightened. For once, he didn’t have a snarky comeback.
Wilson sighed, his tone softening again. “She likes you, House. Not the brilliant doctor or the sarcastic jerk you pretend to be—you. Stop overthinking it and just be yourself.”
House scoffed, heading for the door. “Being myself is what screws things up in the first place.”
Wilson’s laughter followed him as he left.
By the time House arrived at the restaurant, he’d managed to shove most of his nerves into a box and lock it away. But when he saw you standing by the entrance, looking effortlessly beautiful, he felt the box crack open just a little.
“You’re late,” you said, a teasing smile playing on your lips.
“Fashionably,” he replied, holding out the flower brooch he’d picked up on a whim. The gesture was awkward, almost self-conscious, but the way your eyes lit up made his stomach do a strange, unfamiliar flip.
As the two of you settled into your seats, House tried to focus on the menu, on the hum of conversation around him, on anything but the way you smiled at him like you saw right through all his defenses.
“You look… nice,” he said finally, his voice gruff.
“So do you,” you replied softly, and for a moment, the usual snarky quip he would’ve thrown back at you died on his tongue.
He fumbled through the next few minutes, tossing out half-hearted compliments that felt foreign on his lips. Your earrings. Your shoes. Anything to fill the silence.
Finally, you leaned forward, your gaze steady. “You don’t have to do this, you know.”
“Do what?” he asked, feigning ignorance.
“Pretend to be someone you’re not,” you said, your voice gentle but firm. “I didn’t want dinner with Mr. Perfect Manners. I wanted dinner with you.”
House blinked at your words, the usual spark of snark flickering in his eyes as he leaned back in his chair, twirling his cane like it was some kind of shield. “You say that now, but you’ve never seen me eat. It’s not pretty. You might regret this whole ‘real House’ thing before the appetizers.”
You smirked, resting your chin on your hand. “Oh, please. I work with you, remember? I’ve seen you steal someone’s sandwich, in front of them, and still manage to look smug about it. I think I’ll survive.”
He tilted his head, a faint smile breaking through his usual armor. “Fair point. Although, if I spill wine on myself, you’re not allowed to mock me for at least… five minutes.”
“Three,” you countered, your eyes dancing with amusement. “And only if it’s an impressive stain. Red wine on a blue shirt? That’s worth at least a little ridicule.”
He let out a short laugh, the sound genuine and unguarded, and for a moment, he forgot about the gnawing nerves that had followed him all evening. He hadn’t felt this relaxed in… well, he couldn’t remember how long.
The waiter arrived, and you both ordered, the brief interlude giving him time to watch you without being obvious about it. You weren’t just humoring him—you were genuinely enjoying yourself. That realization settled something inside him, the knot of tension loosening slightly.
“So,” he said after the waiter left, tapping his fingers against the table. “What made you think this was a good idea? Betting on a dinner with me? You could’ve gone for clinic hours. Much safer bet.”
You shrugged, your smile turning playful. “I wanted to see if the great Gregory House could handle being outside his lair for an evening without biting someone’s head off. So far, I’m impressed.”
“Oh, I’m just getting started,” he deadpanned, though the corners of his mouth twitched.
“Good. I’d hate for you to peak during appetizers.”
It was the way you said it—light, teasing, but with that undercurrent of warmth that made his usual defenses feel unnecessary. He found himself leaning forward slightly, drawn in despite himself.
“Fine,” he said, narrowing his eyes like he was about to challenge you. “Since we’re skipping the ‘perfect manners’ nonsense, let me guess your biggest regret in life. It has to be agreeing to work for me. Am I right?”
You laughed, the sound soft and genuine, and he was struck by how much he liked it. “Not even close. Although there was that time I let you convince me to try that vending machine sushi. That was a bad decision.”
“That sushi was fine,” he argued, his tone mock-indignant. “You just don’t appreciate the finer things in life.”
“Finer things?” you repeated, raising an eyebrow. “It was room-temperature fish in plastic wrap. The only finer thing about it was that I didn’t die.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “You’ve got a terrible sense of adventure. Remind me never to take you to a questionable dive bar.”
“Please, you’d love having someone there to complain to. I’m doing you a favor.”
The conversation flowed effortlessly after that, the teasing back-and-forth giving way to moments of surprising honesty. You asked him about music, and he let slip his love for old blues records. He asked about your family, and you told him stories about your childhood, weaving in just enough humor to keep the tone light.
Somewhere between the main course and dessert, House realized he wasn’t thinking about the awkwardness anymore. He wasn’t second-guessing what to say or worrying about how you might perceive him. He was just… having fun.
When you teased him about how he never seemed to finish a single cup of coffee before wandering off to torment someone, he found himself smiling instead of deflecting. And when he made a sarcastic comment about your overuse of highlighters during case reviews, you rolled your eyes but didn’t miss a beat.
“I can’t believe Wilson was right,” House muttered at one point, almost to himself.
“Right about what?” you asked, leaning forward slightly.
He hesitated, his fingers brushing the edge of his glass. Then, with a small, almost shy smirk, he said, “That this wouldn’t suck.”
You grinned, leaning back in your chair and crossing your arms. “High praise. Should I frame that or just savor the moment?”
“Don’t let it go to your head,” he said, but there was no real bite in his words.
By the time the check arrived, he wasn’t ready for the night to end. The thought caught him off guard, but he didn’t hate it. As the two of you walked out of the restaurant, the usual sarcastic comment was on the tip of his tongue, but he stopped himself. Instead, he glanced at you and said, almost reluctantly, “This was… not terrible.”
You laughed, bumping your shoulder against his lightly. “Coming from you, that’s basically a glowing review.”
He shook his head, his smile lingering even as he pretended to scoff. For once, Gregory House felt something other than the usual cynicism clawing at his chest. It wasn’t overwhelming or dramatic—it was simple, warm, and for the first time in a long time, it felt good.
The drive back to your place was quieter than the dinner had been, but it wasn’t the kind of silence that felt awkward. The city lights flickered through the car windows, painting fleeting shadows on House’s face. He had one hand on the wheel, the other tapping idly against his thigh, a habit you’d noticed whenever he was deep in thought.
For once, you didn’t tease him about his erratic driving. Instead, you found yourself stealing glances, watching the way his brows furrowed in concentration or the way his lips quirked slightly, like he was mulling over something amusing—or frustrating.
When he finally pulled up in front of your building, you unbuckled your seatbelt and hesitated, your fingers brushing against the door handle. “You know,” you started softly, turning to look at him, “jokes aside, it was a wonderful night.”
House didn’t look at you right away. His hands were still on the steering wheel, his grip tightening briefly before he forced himself to relax. “I didn’t spill wine on myself. That’s got to count for something,” he said, his tone light, but his voice quieter than usual.
You smiled, shaking your head. “I mean it. Thank you for this.”
There was a vulnerability in your voice that made him shift uncomfortably in his seat. Compliments weren’t his thing, especially when they were genuine. He opened his mouth, probably to deflect with some sarcastic quip, but the words didn’t come.
You took his silence in stride, your hand already on the door when something made you pause. An afterthought, a flicker of courage, or maybe just the knowledge that this was House—you had to meet him halfway or nothing would ever move forward.
Turning back to him, you tilted your head and smiled softly. “You know, it doesn’t have to stop there.”
House’s brows shot up, and he leaned back slightly, his lips twitching as he prepared to deflect the way he always did. “Isn’t it a bit too soon for the sex?” he asked, his voice dripping with mockery.
You rolled your eyes, but the blush creeping up your cheeks betrayed you, much to his amusement. “What I mean is,” you said, deliberately keeping your tone steady, “I had fun. If you had too… maybe we could repeat the experience?”
There it was—your invitation. Not a demand, not an expectation, but an opening, one that he could take or leave. You were asking him for another date. You were asking him for more.
House froze. He wasn’t used to this—someone asking him to be part of their life, voluntarily, without ulterior motives or pity. The thought of it made his chest tighten with panic. Relationships weren’t something he did. Not anymore. He’d shut that part of himself off a long time ago, convinced it was safer to keep people at a distance.
But then he looked at you, really looked at you, and the idea of pushing you away felt like the bigger mistake. He didn’t want to ruin this—whatever this was. He wanted to see that smile again, hear that laugh, watch you tease him with that infuriatingly soft sarcasm.
Before he could talk himself out of it, before he could let fear or cynicism get the better of him, House leaned toward you. His hand brushed yours briefly, and then his lips met yours in a kiss that was surprisingly soft, hesitant even.
You froze for a moment, startled by the suddenness of it, but the warmth of his lips and the tenderness behind the gesture melted your surprise. Your eyes fluttered closed as you leaned into him, your free hand brushing lightly against his shoulder.
When he pulled back, his gaze searched yours, as if waiting for the inevitable fallout. But instead of retreating, you smiled—a genuine, radiant smile that made his heart do that irritating flip-flop thing again.
“Does that mean yes to a second date?” you asked, your voice teasing but your eyes warm.
House smirked, his confidence returning as he settled back in his seat, though his voice was quieter than usual. “Depends. Does the next one involve fewer opportunities for public humiliation?”
“Not a chance,” you said, grinning.
“Great,” he muttered, shaking his head but unable to hide the small, pleased smile tugging at his lips.
As you stepped out of the car and made your way to your front door, you glanced back one last time. House was still sitting there, his expression unreadable but softer than you’d ever seen it.
“Goodnight, House,” you called, your tone light but your heart feeling anything but.
He raised a hand in a mock salute, his smirk still firmly in place. “Goodnight, Y/N.”
The moment you disappeared inside, House exhaled deeply, gripping the wheel like it was the only thing keeping him tethered to reality. For the first time in a long time, he wasn’t sure what came next. But for once, he was willing to find out.
The next day at Princeton-Plainsboro, the usual chaos reigned supreme. House was, as always, doing his best to avoid his clinic duties, weaving through the halls like a man on a mission. Except today, his mission wasn’t diagnosing an obscure disease or tormenting his team—it was evading James Wilson.
Wilson, however, was not so easily deterred.
“House!” Wilson’s voice rang out from the hallway.
House groaned audibly but didn’t slow his pace. He ducked into a nearby exam room, hoping to throw Wilson off his trail, but his best friend followed right on his heels, stepping inside and shutting the door behind him with a triumphant grin.
“How was it?” Wilson asked without preamble, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
“How was what?” House replied, feigning ignorance as he busied himself rifling through a cabinet of tongue depressors.
Wilson rolled his eyes. “Your date, obviously. Don’t play dumb—you’re not good at it.”
House didn’t look up, focusing intently on a half-empty box of gloves. “The food was good,” he said casually. “Great, even. End of story.”
Wilson crossed his arms, leaning against the counter and watching House with the kind of smug persistence that only he could pull off. “Oh, come on. By the look on your face, it either went very well or very poorly.”
House sighed heavily, slamming the cabinet shut. “Fine. It went well. There. Happy now?”
Wilson grinned, but his eyes narrowed shrewdly. “Oh, no. I’ve waited years for you to actually go on a date with someone who isn’t insane—or you, for that matter. I deserve more details.”
House groaned and limped toward the patient’s chair, plopping down with exaggerated frustration. “You want details? She had a stunning dress. She liked the flowers. I didn’t embarrass myself. End scene.”
But Wilson wasn’t buying the act. He watched House carefully, noting the way his gaze flicked away, not quite focused on the conversation anymore. House was retreating into his thoughts, and that was when Wilson noticed something new.
“You kissed her, didn’t you?” Wilson asked, his tone gleeful and accusatory.
House froze for a split second, his blue eyes darting to the floor. That was all Wilson needed.
“You did!” Wilson laughed, delighted. “You kissed her!”
“Will you keep your voice down?” House snapped, though there was no real anger behind it.
Wilson was beaming, utterly unfazed by his friend’s irritation. “Gregory House, king of sarcasm and cynicism, actually kissed someone. And not just anyone—her. The woman you’ve been quietly pining for all year. I can’t believe it!”
“Believe it or don’t. I don’t care,” House muttered, though his fidgeting betrayed him.
Wilson leaned forward, his voice dropping into something softer, almost sincere. “So… what does this mean?”
House finally looked up at him, his usual smirk replaced by something quieter, more contemplative. “It means,” he said slowly, “I didn’t screw it up. Yet.”
Wilson stared at him for a long moment, then nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Well, don’t screw it up at all. She’s good for you, you know.”
House didn’t respond. He just stood, grabbed his cane, and limped toward the door.
“Hey, House,” Wilson called after him.
House paused, glancing over his shoulder.
“Proud of you,” Wilson said simply, the teasing gone from his tone.
House rolled his eyes and left the room, but as he walked away, a small, rare smile crept across his face.

・It was sunset and Jade had already led you to the bar.
・His hands were fidgety, and it gave you a bit of relief; since you thought you were going to have a panic attack every second of today.
・But the anxiety slowly seeped away when you were with Jade
・And when you entered the usually messy bar, you couldn't help but grin.
・Jade had gathered as many candles as he could and lit them throughout the bar, trying to create a certain atmosphere
・You two were in the throes of a new relationship; testing the waters, trying to keep something alive in this town was nearly impossible - since everyone wanted to leave
・One thing that you've found is that whenever you're in the room, Jade is usually staring at you
・You've noticed him do little things for you, that he would absolutely never do in a million years
・It's what made you like him more and more. Special treatment was nice.
・It was you who brought up the idea;
"I thought, maybe, since ya know ... I was just wondering if I could stay the night at the bar. The Matthews have kind of taken over the house..."
He gave a small smile, which turned into a smirk.
"I can't argue against that."
・You could tell he was flirting and a burst of butterflies erupted in your stomach. It always did around Jade. You wished you could control yourself better...
・So this would be your first time alone, at night, together.
・When the time came to close the curtains and lock the doors, you were already having a drink with Jade
・He had made certain that no creature could enter the bar; especially not when someone as precious as you was there
・Jade felt this overwhelming need to protect you. To take care of you, to be some sort of ... guardian.
・He's never felt that way before.
・Not until you had waltzed into town (okay not waltzed but you know what I mean) and threw yourself into theories, experiments; ways to get out of here
・Unlike some people who seemed happy to go along with their day to day duties
・Jade liked you because of your passion.
・And now, after two of those horrible homemade drinks, you were flushed, with a heavily beating heart.
・Jade still looked handsome, even though he looked a mess.
・He was in the middle of telling you a story, of telling you things that he would never say to anyone else.
・Both of you were on the bench, your hand barely brushing his very larger one.
"...and now I'm here! In some sort of hell...although it can't be hell. Because you're here." He mumbled on, his own cheek feeling flush.
・Your pinky wrapped around his and he squeezed.
"Thank you for telling me," you said quietly, and slowly turned to look Jade in the eyes, "-I want you to know I'm here for you."
・A shiver went up Jade's spine, his neck was giving away his feelings. You couldn't help but smile.
・But then a shiver went down your own spine, for an entirely different reason.
・Knock...knock...knock...
A high pitched, 'kind' voice sounded from behind the door.
"Hello? Is anybody in there? I need some help!"
・You and Jade looked at each other, his hand coming to clasp your own.
He moved closer to you, and whispered in your ear, "It's alright, everything is locked. We have the talisman. They'll leave."
・He nodded his head and motioned for you to take a few deep breaths. You did.
"I know you're in there! Jade, and his new love!" The woman taunted.
・Those words struck Jade to the core. If they knew that. Then the creatures would surely use it against him somehow.
・But he didn't want to worry you, so he just smiled, and thought of a way to release you both from the clutches of fear.
"Trust me?" Jade said, entwining your fingers.
"Yes," your response came out as a whisper.
・Standing up, he lent you against the bench and went about starting to blow out the majority of the candles.
・Then he brought the rest into his room and beckoned you to follow.
・Walking in after him, he placed the candles down and closed the door.
・It felt safer in here. It did. Because you couldn't hear the taunting.
"You can...sit down if you like."
"Thanks," you chuckled and sat on the bed. Taking off your shoes and socks.

・As a lover, Jade is all-consuming. He loves taking charge (when he knows you're completely onboard with it)
・However, he does love to make you squirm. To slowly place kisses here and there, his breath hot, tongue lightly licking as he goes along.
"You're not being fair," you whine, drowning out the fear that was once holding you back.
"je te savoure," is his reply. Low and gravelly.
・Jade's large hands gently remove your shirt, and then with a nod of your head, he unclasps your bra
・Laying you down gently onto the bed, he takes off his shirt and balances himself on the bed
・You can't help but giggle, it's such a small bed. It's better than nothing...
・Jade smiles back at you, but it turns into a smirk. His eyes darken, and your nipples harden.
"You're okay with this?" He near-growls.
"Yes, now come here-"
・You saw his length harden through his pants as you moved to touch your bare breasts. Massaging and pinching your nipples.
・Jade climbs ontop of you, hovering above you
・Your legs wrap around his waist, which forces Jade to lower himself to you.
"I want you," Jade said close to your ear, then he started nibbling on your earlobe.
・Reaching out, you started touching him. His shoulders, neck, arms. He was so warm. And had many freckles.
・Your mouth kissed his shoulder and you finally got to taste him. Salty, musky, you could slightly taste the soap he's been using.
・You gave his shoulder a small bite and he laughed, doing the same to you.
"You don't understand how much I've needed you. Not just like this; underneath me. But, close. To be able to call you mine."
・Goosebumps erupted all over your skin, you didn't realise how much he wanted you. Because fuck, you've wanted him for so long.
"I am yours."

GN!Esper!Reader x Y!Guide!Male OC
Note: hello im back. A lot happened, I had an anxiety attacks, my mind has been having a lot of bad thoughts, my dog passed away last year—three months ago... I didn't have a lot of time for me to write since I've been grieving for my dog's death up until now but I'm okay, I'm healing... Anyway, my writings is rusty and probably didn't improve. I know some of you guys really tried to reach out through ask and I'm kind of happy. Thanks. For now I'll give this to piece of one shot for a new year. This Esper x Guide thing I made might not be accurate. All i know is they are similar to Alpha x Omega shits except the curse thing on espers. This might be cringe. i will try to edit it. I will try to update the other oc's as well.
-also please do not do this, i do not condone anything in this story. This is purely fiction and be kept as a fiction.
CW: implied se(g)s, implied suicide(mention), yandere, drugging, manipulation, dynamic power, etc.
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT
"(Y/n)!!" A ginger haired male rush up to you, hugging you by the time you step on the greenery field of the university. Pastel blue of sweater was the first thing you see before you were envelope by a hug. You tense when his arms coils around your waist, hearing him breathe out of relief as he buries his face on your left shoulder.
You don't know what to do everytime he does this. There were eyes everywhere and it doesn't seem like he is bothered by it.
Of course why would he?
Micah Clarke is not only popular and prettiest student in this campus. He is known for being famous as the youngest champion of ice skating 3 years ago, defending his title until now. His luscious natural lips, his hazel eyes that could make you halt on what you were doing, the type to make yourself give him a third glance because he is so pretty. So pretty that you sometimes envy his glassy skin, igniting a insecurities to yourself. His soft curly ginger hair and freckled face that matches his glossy alabaster complexion. The type of guy who prefers cute, pastel than those typical guys—omg so unique(lol)—that always choose to wear dark or dull colors. Everyone finds him attractive including yourself. Everything about him screams beauty and elegance. He can hook up with men and women if he wants to but he chose not to.
From what you heard, he is a rare S-rank Guide. Most espers would try hook up with him atleast make a contract with someone like him. He would rather spend his time painting his nails, crochetting, organising or planning his time, practicing his amazing skills on ice skating, or rather do hundred routine for his skincare than hook up with other people. Quirky, Alright. Still, this doesn't stop people from wanting to go between his pants and his fame.
To people he is a swan. He is epitome of perfection.
You always see him pass by to your department, always getting called by the principal, inviting him to do a photoshoot, using his face as an advertisment for upcoming enrollent or any event inside the university. You never dwell yourself to swoon on to him whenever he pass by. Fine, you do like him. But not the kind of like where you are romantically interest to him. You just admire his looks, his talents and that's about it. You just don't like he was too friendly, there's nothing wrong with that but invading someone else personal bubble space—and the feeling of shame on yourself for being near someone kind as him—as if you two are already close is not your thing to a person you rarely talk to. Unlike him, you are the quite the opposite when it comes to socialising,You like being alone, you aren't anti-social, atleast, that's what you think you are. You are confident by yourself. An Introvert.
You just like the silence. It eases your deteriorating mind—(stupid esper curse) Somewhere peace and quiet, reading books, listening to music—gosh laufey and wave to earth and even (favorite singer/composer) always sound so good, spending time with your pets, to drown out insanity voices piling up in your head. Although you just have a few friends, you love to be alone. You once dream about getting a job. To work hard and earn a good money, once you have enough money. You would spend it to buy a house and lot somewhere away from the city and nearby the countryside with a small farm. Letting your family and friends to visit you time to time in occassions. Where you can spend the rest of your life alone and happy. A dream that would be come true if only you didn't awakened as an esper after you reach 18.
As for the guy who has the entire school and other people folded for him. He is choosing you to lend his attention, to a person who doesn't like attention. So why was he talking to someone who is a nobody like a B-rank Esper like you? The only interaction you had with him before he let himself in your life was when you pull him away from the bridge—you didn't know him at that time—a few exchange greeting—which of course he would be the first one to initiate it—and.... The party....
"N-ngh!!!" A whiny moan escape his lips. Your lips were on his neck drinking each of his soft sound coming from his mouth. The blaring party background can be ignore in the background thanks to the closed lock door of this room the both of you are in.You bite and nip his skin as if animal marking its prey. You didn't care if you torn his shirt, you just needed his guide seep through more, letting your body gone addicted to him. "(Y-y/n)!" The whay he whimpered your name made you groaned. The way every pulse from his body sends his guiding through your body. You were delirious, you can't resist him—
"Missed you! Why aren't you checking my messages? You know I got worried when you didn't reply." He whined, his orbs shows concern and sadness. You look away.
"...hey." you greeted him with quieter tone. You pulled away from the hug not liking the way your body just relaxes everytime his guide powers automatically seeps through your body. You don't hate it but you don't like the way that your body depends on someone just for the sake of being sane and relax.
.... The shame you are feeling over the past few weeks.
You still feel guilty and ashamed about it everytime you remember those memory.
"I... I was busy. Had to do homework. I fell asleep and forgot to charge my phone." You told him. Another excuse. You just put your phone on do not disturb.
You don't have the guts to tell a sweet person like him to leave you alone. Well you did because you are ashamed to face him but he insisted it was never you fault. It always ended up him spending time with you. You can't—you owe him more than anything—Especially now that all people's oggling to you too now that you have the attention of the star. They would try to befriending you so that they could get closer to him.
Gosh, you are getting tired. Why can't people leave you alone?
You missed the old times where you can be at peace. No drama, nowhere near on people who wants attention.
"O-oh. Well that's alright."he chided before grabbing your hands with both of his. His smooth hands rubbing against your ragged callouses. He continued, "well actually I was wondering could you hangout out with me? This friday? I know you don't have schedule at that time since you showed me your schedule—And I want to spend more time with you!" He beamed. His smile was out of this world and it blinds you.
"I uhh .. have a plan on that time..." You words went silent as soon as your eyes sees the smile from his lips slowly fell down to his face."really?" The grip on your hands were getting uncomfortable.
"Umm.... I just wanna be on my home and well—"He gasped, his smile is coming back on his symmetrical face as he clung to your right arm."oh! Why didn't you say so? We can hangout together in your home!"
Giddy, he press his front closer to you which made you feel suffocating. His guide power automatically seeps through you again.
"N-no, Mikah... What I meant to say is I plan to rest, like spend alone on that day. A peace and quiet." You slowly pull away your hand gently from his clinging hands.
You didn't expect he would react like this. Tears are already in the corner of his eyes. His lips quivering. "W-what? Are you saying that I'm boring, I-I'm too loud? Did I do something wrong?"
The people who were eavesdropping at your conversation sent a glare and unwanted resentment towards you.
You quickly shook your head. Your free hand clasping against his clutching ones that is gripping your poor unavailable hand. "No... It's not like that. You didn't do anything wrong.. I just want a me time... You know when... Uhhh before you and I become friends.... I just want to relax by myself.... You're a good friend and a good company but... We've been hanging out for a while... Ummm w-what I'm trying to say is... I want some time to be alone. You... You know what I mean right?"
Micah gave you a blank stare. You were getting uneasy. You bite your inner cheek. Will he lash out? He never seem to be the person who never received a refusal on his entire life. As soon as 2 seconds has passed, you noticed his eyes were akin to sadness. You feel the guilt running up to your spine.
You tried to avoid his gaze looking straight his frowning lips before getting replace by a forced grin. "Oh! I get that! You wish a time for yourself! Self care stuff in all that!"
Your heart beats a little faster in excitement, is he finally leaving you for a bit? You were about to thank him for understanding. He does l—
"B-but!!" He grabbed your hands again.
You internally groan. Does he even know the word no? Of course he don't.
He never had someone says no to him. Everything he request would be at his feet. You can't yell or be rude. That's not in your nature and plus if you done it. His fans would kill you.
"I need to be with you o-on friday! You know... I wanna spend my birthday with you.. P-please? your presence alone is enough a gift for me." He stammers. You blink in surprise. "I-I promise I won't bother you the next day if you really wanna spend t-time for yourself..."
Birthday?
"T-to be honest.... I don't like parties uhmm..." He lick his lips as if the word 'party' is a taboo between the two of you." Especially my birthday parties because a-although people greet me a happy birthday or any party occasion and stuff they never really mean it. They... Always use that as an excuse to use me for my fame or my money that I earned so hard in those competitions... I.. I plan to not throw one b-because m-my family isn't forcing me anymore... I just want to spend my birthday w-with you. Y-you're the only d-decent person who treated me normally."he stammer. You feel a lump on your throat when he says you're a decent. "I... I know... Umm I'm asking to much f-from you and I know... you didn't mean to do that—" he continues to rambles that some of his words can't form a right sentence. You noticed his eyes were in the verge of tears, threatening to drop from his eyes.
"I'm.... Not a decent person." You told him looking away from him, ashamed and hurt were written in your face.Your voice grew quiet but the man Infront catch on what you said, already refering to the 'incident' between the two of you. He bit his lower lips and almost yelled. His face pull out a sad look. It made him look cute if it's from a tears of joy."Y-you are ! You are a decent person! You know it's not your f-fault! You were d-drugged a-and I... I was drunk! W-we both know we weren't in o-our right minds! You never hurted me—!" He starts hiccuping. "You're a-a good person! W-what happened between that night s-should b-be buried! Y-you're a good friend! It's not your fault! It's not your f-fault!" With that he burst into tears.
You didn't expect for him to cry. You panic mentally. What should you do on these type of situations? You pull him for a hug—albeit stiffeningly."Ok... Ok... Don't cry.... I don't like it... When you cry.. I'm sorry." You told him honestly, truthfully this is not the first time he argued about the incident with you.
You still feel ashamed of yourself. You really do.
The party. If only you didn't come to your friend's party. The guilt won't eat you. No matter how many times Micah convinced you that none of it was your fault. You feel like you can't face him. He did say he was also drunk at the time but still... You could have gotten home earlier and didn't force yourself on him.
You cried and apologised so many times from him at that time, swearing you will turn yourself over to the police and never let him see your face again. You saw how his whole body was full of marks, hickeys, and bruises. He look like he got ravage. His clothes were thorn and you wish the drug in your system that time killed you.
Micah's eyes light up and a smirk forming from his lips as he nuzzle his face on your neck, pretending to cry even more. Everything is planned, everything worked for him to get you under his palm. He can feel the guilt eating you.
"... it's okay... Hik... " He sob sneaking in to kiss your neck. You are to busy awkwardly and hesitantly patting his back and hugging him
From the moment you save him from jumping off the bridge, he needed to make you his. Someone who genuinely cares for him in this greedy world is something he needed to treasure.
Oh how he had you wrap around his fingers the moment you accepted that drug-disguise juice from one of his friends offered by the man himself.
It doesn't matter. You're under his palm forever. Everything is 100% perfect.

Realised it’s @khoc-week so even though I don’t have the energy to do it daily have this I did a while ago but never posted.
Arxeht my beloved. They came to me in a dream where I was a replica (of multiple people but looked most like Vidar) made by apprentice Nort/Xemnas, who was the fifteenth member of the organisation and also had my knowledge of hit video games Kingdom Hearts and kept getting randomly thrown through space and time.
#khocweek2024#kh oc#kh ocs#kingdom hearts oc#kingdom hearts original character#Arxeht#blue boi draws#kingdom hearts#kh#Arxeht my beloved I love them#Apprentice Nort started making them to help figure out memories and based them on people he’d get glimpses of in dreams#but he got distracted and only came back and finished them/woke them up around the beginning of Days after Xion#meaning they are theoretically younger then Xion and Roxas but with the way they act and view the others they’re older#they woke up sorta all at once unlike Roxas and Xion. they also have basic knowledge about General Like that the kiddos lack#also their knowledge of how the game plays out is from the perspective of someone who played the games.#like they’d know the ‘press triangle for Sora’ meme and the differences between CoM and ReCoM and refer to time periods by their game name#also VERY AWARE that most kh games are tragedies and desperately trying to change that despite not really having the power to do so#Arxeht is shit at fighting but is saved from getting injured by any time they’re about to get hit it triggers a jump through time/space#and the jumps can be really far and in fast succession. they start a jump in twilight town and are thrown through Daybreak Town#and like two other worlds until they settle and fef a chance to breathe. its handy because they wont die but jumps can happen#in the middle of a conversation or while they’re trying to get somewhere in particular and then suddenly they’re ten years in the past#in a whole different world. it sucks.#can you tell the dream they came from was a stress dream? 90% of what I remember from it was running around trying to get to Xion and Roxas#and keep them safe. the other 10% was the org not knowing what to think of Arx and Xemnas being weird#Arxeht is heart + x in a reflection of Xehanort being no heart + x btw. that did not come from the dream I made it awake#Xemnas was weird he had a very distant vaguely amused view on everything Arxeht was doing I don’t think he ever thought of them as a threat#unlike Xigbar who was concerned which is fair because Arxeht knew he was Luxu and about MoM and stuff#the time jumps can get really long as well but tend to avoid kh era?? days onwards and bbs and before is fair game but they dont actually#meet Sora until kh2.#their main power is information. they know who people are and what’s going on and they are constantly trying to tell people during the

(hi I’m just gonna finish what I wanna say here cause the tags are getting excessive and people can only handle so many reblogs of moots gagging)
I won’t get burnt out! I’m perfectly content right now just really hyper fixated on pretender. Also he is still taller then Ozzy without heels by like half and inch. It still counts for something.
low-key wanna continue this comic but I have no idea how he’s canonically react to being kissed. Flustered yes but who isn’t? Anyway that’s it for my ramble I just finished making a quiz for a whole new fandom so. Yippieeee!
thanks spot for making Pretender and N! They’re the silliest AU’s I’ve come across. (And the most smooch able.)
Heya!! (And yeah, good call! I forgot that Asks exist lol-)
And nice! Glad ta hear you'll be good lol, I always just like to check in on folks ^^. And NICE! Tall Pretender from comic holds strong then! (Plus who knows, Pretender does shape-shift so he could totally just... change height to mess w/ ppl or tease hehe)
And Ooh!! I'd love to see where you could go with it! If ur looking for a potential reaction I might have a few? (Adding them... now: 1) Pretender kinda like, melts a lil. When he's emotional he kinda loses his shape and sinks into that purple mist, so I could totally see him just kinda getting flustered and literally deflating for a sec before popping back up with a stuttered little surprised response. 2) He's definitely Blushing, but doesn't like, react very obviously. More of a, "Well, that's a first!" Followed by a cheeky, "Usually I try to eat a human's face, not the other way around.... Not that I'm complaining!" Or something with a stupid lil grin and a wink, before he continues conversation. 3) "You sure know how to greet a new pal!" As he kinda squints at them and goes, "So, do I get a name to match the kiss?" Looking flustered for sure, but low-key smug as he jokes to cover his loss of composure. These would just depend on how competent u think he'd be in the face of a Random Wonderful Smooch hehe...) And those are just loose ideas? I'm actually not sure how he'd react to romance yet, if only because I haven't written him in that situation often enough yet hehe! U got him p spot on tho, so take any or none of these as guidance if you want! (And if not this was still a fun chance to write him some dialogue lol---)
And You're so welcome!!! Thank you for enjoying them so much!!! I pride myself on the Silly since my Serious sticks to writing, so I'm glad ya like em! (And wanna smooch em too! The rizz was built-in I suppose lol---)
#moot shenanigans#frfr Asking was so smart thank u for that-#AND do u have any particular nickname you'd like me to refer to u by? sometimes folks have one but I don't wanna just keep calling u “YOU”🫵#hehe.... I don't like to assume#but if not that's cool too! just double-checking!#oh!!! and I wanna add this:#I'm so grateful that folks are enjoying my dopple boy because I made him w/o expecting to draw him too often. just an old au idea from year#back. but then Ood and u and Four and others looked at him and interacted and Idk it warms my lil soul lol!!!#o- and N is my persona/self-insert/au and I've had her for years so I'm honored u think they're silly 😌🫡#that's all!!! sorry for the rambles!!! have a lovely day!!!#<- I say as though I'm not still gonna respond lmao--#edit: ur also free to dm me if u ever wanna chat more! i swear (unlike Tender) I don't bite lol!

summary: clan leader!gojo needs a favor from your clan but as the leader you refuse, so he proposes to give you a child since your husband is unable to.
"and what am i to do when the child comes out with a white head of hair and blue eyes?"
“if that happens…” he undoes the knot that holds your kimono together and pushes the material down your arms with no resistance from you, “…then i’ll kill your husband myself and marry you.”
nsfw ahead cw: historical au, infidelity, pregnancy, creampie, child birth, satoru is pathetically in love. featuring samurai bodyguard geto and toji.
“i thought we had solved all our business with the gojo clan” your husband says from the door he leans on.
“and i did” you emphasize the i since the head of your clan is you and only you went to the clan meetings that got things solved. you tapped your lips a little bit more to place the reddish pigment looking at the mirror, “but satoru summoned this meeting and gave no details.”
“satoru huh?” your husband points, not letting go unnoticed the fact you used his first name without formalities.
“all right” you take one step back checking if your kimono is proper, “see you tonight” you peck his lips lightly to not ruin the tint on yours and proceed to the carriage outside.
for years the gojo clan and yours avoided each other due to some very old beef that no one remembers or even was alive when it happened, so when your mother passed and you assumed as the new head you soon decided to reach out to make peace with the current head of the rival clan and a friendly relationship was restored. more often than not you two met, sometimes with other clan members or even other clans when necessary, but today gojo insisted on being just the two of you.
toji, your bodyguard, opens the carriage door when you arrive and give you his hand for you to step out.
to avoid any issues the place of the meeting was always the temple middle way your residences. from time to time your families attended the prayers there, that’s when your husband saw satoru for the first time.
“where’s his wife?” he asked the first time you pointed the white-haired man as the clan head after you made peace.
“he doesn’t have one.”
“fiancée then?”
“i don’t think so” you both watched discreetly as he greeted the monks.
“i find that quite odd. what about the black-haired man?” he pointed to geto, gojo’s bodyguard, “could they be involved romantically?” geto leaned to whisper something to his master, a little bit too close if you might add, a few more inches and his lips would be touching satoru’s ear. his romantic life was no business of yours but you didn’t like the idea of him having any partners, didn’t seem right, though deep down you knew it was very unlikely for a handsome man like him to be alone. both men somehow found your curious gaze.
“geto” you greet the known bodyguard as you enter the temple, and he bows to you, your bodyguard nods at him as well and you’re guided to the secret room.
the conversation went on for almost an hour, satoru served you tea when he noticed you finished yours, which was unusual for a clan head to do such a mundane task but he always insisted no servant join on your private meetings. you always thought he was particularly paranoid about spies, but that suspicion was dismissed when you had your first meeting with other clan heads and he didn’t oppose the people that stayed in the back of the room waiting for their master’s orders.
“satoru we went over this on the last meeting, why am i here?” you are getting impatient, satoru always seemed relaxed when he was at the temple like it’s the one place people don’t come to him with problems, so he tended to do things without any rush at all.
“so impatient…” he smirks, “i was getting to the point but fine. i need your doctors for a few weeks.”
because of the many wars and the necessity to heal mainly the samurai your clan became specialized in healing techniques and remedies instead of combat.
“is someone injured?” you raised your eyebrow, it wasn’t likely for satoru to ask for something like this when he could’ve sent a letter.
“no. but we are expecting a conflict soon and—”
“let me stop you there satoru” you raised your hand and for a second you saw a glimpse of annoyance cross his features, “we don’t get involved with battles anymore, the healers go through extensive training and i can’t risk losing them in battle.”
“so instead of putting their knowledge into practice you rather keep them locked in a room reading books?”
“they are busy with research at the moment” you raise your chin unwilling to budge on the matter.
“is that so?” he tilted his head smiling “and how many people does it take to figure out your husband is infertile?”
you widened your eyes, this is way too personal of a matter for someone else, especially another clan head, to know.
on the other side of the door, geto and toji guarded the room, they were close enough to listen to the conversation and without turning his head geto looked at toji with his eyebrow raised, to which toji only nodded confirming the rumors.
“you’re not the only one with little birds across territories, sweetheart” his smile only seems to grow.
“that is no business of yours. besides, lending you my healers will only harm my clan and, as i said, put them at unnecessary risk” you managed to find your composure back and avoid the infertility topic.
“don’t you trust i have the best warriors? you seemed to when we came to your aid” he reminded a time you asked for their men.
“i paid for that.”
“and what makes you think i won’t?”
“we don’t need money.”
“i’m not talking about money” he drops the volume of his voice.
“listen, satoru—” you rise to your feet sensing the tone of this conversation is off.
“i’m listening, for a very long time i’ve been listening” he rises as well and takes a few steps in your direction, “you know what i listen to? the rumors about your family threatening to make your brother head of the clan if you don’t bear an heir soon.”
you take a step back.
“or the resources you’ve been spending to research a treatment for your husband. tell me, darling, can he even get it up for you?” he is too close now, you can see all the details of his insanely blue eyes.
“he— that’s not a problem” you accidentally confess.
“of course it’s not, look at you” his finger brushes your cheek and the touch makes you burn under your skin, “i could give you a child” he lowers his head to your ear, running his lips on it, “a healthy, smart, beautiful child” he presses his hand on your belly over the thick material of your clothes, “and it wouldn’t even be an effort” he presses his hardened member on your hip.
“and what am i to do when the child comes out with a white head of hair and blue eyes?” you look into his eyes challenging him to a solution.
“if that happens…” he undoes the knot that holds your kimono together and pushes the material down your arms with no resistance from you, “…i’ll kill him myself and take his place as your husband.”
you gasp, not expecting such an answer from the man you always watched trying to find a way to avoid violence.
satoru kisses your jaw then your cheek and when he gets close to your lips you turn your head, your conscience only now, in this intimate act, attacking you.
“he’s not fulfilling his duty” he whispers, letting go of the knot on his kimono, taking your hand and putting it on his chest. you open your eyes, not even aware you had closed them, and see his sculpted torso, so close to you, so warm…
“it’s not your fault, can’t you see?” he raises your chin, “it wasn’t meant to be, unlike us” you know he’s just telling you what you want to hear, but in his voice everything made sense.
“you’ll see” he picks you up and lowers his body with you back to the mat in the middle of the room, his kimono is still around his arms while yours was forgotten somewhere else, leaving only the very thin, dress-like, white undergarment that pretty much showed everything.
satoru lowers his head to your chest, his tongue wetting your nipple over the material, “i bet you’ll become even prettier” he replaces your breast with his hand, big and hot, and goes to the other nipple, “with your breasts heavy and a big belly” he sucks on you, hardly, you put your hand over your mouth.
satoru raises your legs over his shoulders, “your feet will get tired” he kisses the inner thigh, “but you’ll still come and see me” you thought it sounded like a question, it was a statement.
his head goes down, as he kisses your folds your back arches, he licks a stripe ending on your clit and flickering it.
satoru starts to lose himself, he gets too intoxicated by you, almost forgetting time is running against him here. he doesn’t have much longer until your bodyguard gets suspicious and calls for you, and by the way your hand is tight against your mouth he doubts you’ll be able to give a proper response.
he wants to make you cum before he shoots his load, suguru’s intel told him you asked one of the doctors if the woman needed to come to increase the chances. it doesn’t take much medical knowledge to interpret that question.
you cum on his tongue pulling him out of his dreams where he imagined himself doing that every night after those boring fucking meetings he has to attend at every slight inconvenience in his clan.
“it’s gonna be okay, just relax for me” he pushes his length slowly before you get the chance to see his size. you whisper his name behind your hand and he can’t stand not seeing your whole face, so he takes your hand out of the way and kisses your wet lips pushing his tongue and swallowing your moans as he goes deeper and starts to pick a pace.
satoru holds back a curse, reminding himself he’s in a sacred place and although anyone would say that’s ironic given what you’re doing in the temple he would argue that’s even more sacred than what most people prayed for.
you start to feel his weight down on you as he trusts get sloppier, he’s still kissing you, holding your lips with his when he twitches and fills your insides, in your drunk mind you think it’s so much more than what you’re used to.
after he catches his breath he pushes himself up and out of you, you allow yourself to close your eyes for a brief moment but you open them wide again when satoru pushes his cum back into you with his finger, “keep it deep and warm for me, yes?”
one hour later you pass through the door your bodyguard slides open for you to enter your chambers. on the way there you realized there’s no chance he and geto didn’t grasp on what was happening inside the room.
“toji?” you call before he can close the door and go to his personal room, he stops, indicating he listens although he doesn’t respond with the formality others usually do, “i trust you won’t share with anyone what happened today” you speak firmly looking the tall man behind you over your shoulder, his scar stretches slightly with his smirk, the man bows and closes the door.
they said it was a road accident, the horse got spooked and ran, by the time they found it there was no rider so they searched your husband and found his body down the mountain.
the ritual was long, you wore the traditional widow clothing, accepting the kind words of the clan members and the prayer of the monks. though you really were sad, all this pity was making you sicker than…
“at least you didn’t have kids, no child deserves to grow up with a dead father” an old lady says to comfort you while holding your hands.
“excuse me” you turn around walking slowly to not raise suspicions and as soon as it is just you on the other side of your home you bend your torso and throw up all you’ve eaten before the funeral.
you cough and when a tissue enters your field of vision you immediately take it and clean your mouth.
you feel your stomach empty but the light volume below it reminds you of whose fault it is.
you raise with the tissue on your lips to say thank you and the sight of the white-haired man makes you choke.
“shh, it’s okay, i’m here as an ally, to give my condolences to a friend in grief” there’s absolutely no seriousness in his tone.
“what about the war?” you ask through heavy breathing.
“that was child’s play, don’t worry, your healers will return safe and sound in a few days” he puts his hand on your shoulder to calm you down, you do.
satoru takes a second to drop his sight to your belly, it has been a month since your last encounter, and by your sensitive stomach he knows that one time was enough for you to get pregnant.
“do you think you can hide it for another month until the wedding? then when the child is born we’ll just say it was a premature birth” god, your former husband’s body was barely cold and gojo is already planning the wedding and what to say about the baby.
“why now?” you look up at his mischievous eyes, he knows what you’re asking truly.
“i don’t know what you’re talking about, it was an accident right?” he touches your face, brushing away a tear that came out, more of a natural body reaction of your gagging than a sadness reaction.
“satoru, tell me” you demanded.
“i just reflect a little you know? when i said i would kill him you never asked me not to. besides, i don’t want another man to think they own what’s mine” his eyes are darker, you think he’s talking about the child in your womb but by the intensity of his gaze, you realize he’s talking about you. “if you need anything tell suguru, i’ll have him staying in the village until we announce the wedding.”
“no, i have toji, don’t want anyone suspecting geto’s intentions” you defend.
gojo doesn’t seem to like it, but he doesn’t argue either, “either way, i want to see you. meet me at the temple in five days, we’ll talk about the arrangements” he leans in and kisses your forehead before turning away and then back “i almost forgot” he reaches for something inside his sleeve and pulls out a shiny golden bracelet with gems and puts it on your palm, you know you can’t wear it now but god it’s gorgeous, “came from the west especially for you” he puts his hand on top of yours and leaves it there for a long moment as you look into each other's eyes. satoru is fighting the urge to kiss you, if someone catches you he can’t say he’s comforting his recently widowed friend, so he forces himself to let go of you and go head back to his village.
the midwife instructs you to push harder as her helper dabs a wet cloth on your forehead. you’re squatting, on your knees giving your all to push the baby out.
finally one last push is all that it takes for the little one to come out, you want to lay down and close your eyes, but you need to see the baby first so you mumble something with your arms open, the midwife cleans baby’s face through crying and screaming.
“it’s a boy” she whispers putting him in your arms. satoru enters when he hears the cries and kneels in front of you. behind him are both suguru and toji, who aren’t allowed to enter but the men are also very eager to see the child they can’t help but try to peek.
you balance the boy in your hold for a little bit till he stops crying and when he opens his eyes you see the blue sky.
“give him to the father, we’re not over” the midwife says.
“what?” you, satoru, toji and suguru ask. the last two get an angry look from the midwife and remove themselves from the scene.
“the next one will come out soon” she puts new towels below you.
“two children? at once?” you ask in disbelief then look at satoru who can only smile apologetically.
after god knows how long you’re finally allowed to rest as the babies were cleaned and fed. the second one was a girl, with identical blue eyes as her brother and father.
“i can’t believe you put two kids in me” satoru is outside the wooden tub, breaking all tradition by helping you bathe after the birth.
“can’t say i’m sorry for that” he rubs your shoulders, “you were incredible” he confesses now that there’s only the two of you. satoru refuses to even let your feet touch the floor, he takes you out of the tub once the water starts to cool down, placing you on a dry surface and getting on his knees to dry your feet, you reach out to touch his face.
“i love you, satoru” you blurt, overwhelmed by your feelings for the man who was once your rival.
he looks up from his position, taking the hand on his face and kissing your palm, then your pulse, he kisses inch by inch of your arm until his lips are on yours, “i love you.”
"pay up, pretty boy" toji approaches geto.
"excuse me?" suguru looks up from the sword he's polishing now that gojo dismissed him for the rest of the night.
"i said it was gonna be a boy."
"yeah and then a girl came out right after so the bet was invalidated."
"there's no such a thing, the boy will inherit it all anyway" toji crosses his arms, geto laughs, fishing a coin from his pocket since he knows toji will say anything to win the bet.
"and what makes you say that? there's two clans and now two heirs" toji snatches the coin as soon as he sees the silver glow.
"that's just how it has ever been" he turns his back to geto who drives his attention back to his sword.
"things are changing old man.
